Classic Gay Movie: TRICK (1999)

Trick was a movie that had a simple story. But yet so compelling. It appeared in 1999.

The premise gay wannabe musical writer goes to a gogo bar and sees a beautiful gogo boy Mark in next to nothing dancing sensually on a bar. Gabriel leaves the bar but runs into Mark on the subway.

Mark propositioned Gabriel for sex and the two hurry to Gabriel to do the deed. A one night stand that goes incredibly wrong but allows to gay men to get to know one another.

Arriving at Gabriel's apartment to get it on before his straight roommate gets home. The two horny men are thwarted by Gabriel's friend Katherine. Katherine is using Gabriel's computer and printer to print off 150 resumes.

Finally she leaves but it takes a while. The two boys prepare to get it on but false starts and a barking dog named Trixie interrupt until Gabriel's roommate comes home, himself with a lady in tow ready to also get busy.

A coin toss between roommates leaves the boys out on the stoop.

The hookup never happens but the two do get very close. A kiss happens before they separate with hopes of more (another time)

This film was suppose to get a sequel. It never happened.

realising that in the alt timeline there's no hextech bec vi died, but also because jayce likely went through with jumping off that ledge because viktor never stopped him there. and jayvik's bond never develops because again viktor never stops jayce from jumping and vice versa jayce can never do the same for viktor.

realising that ekko and heimerdinger were sent to the alt timeline because they were both alive there. whereas jayce wasn't because in that world without hextech, he was most likely not alive. instead jayce was flung across time to the far future in a timeline where vi didn't die and he and viktor developed hextech, because only in this timeline is future viktor able to realise the consequence of what he'd done and thus kickstart the chain of events that would get jayce to help him destroy it and show current viktor the price he'd pay by pursuing perfection.

in a weird way it's almost relieving to know that even in this "ideal" alternative timeline where everyone seems so much happier and zaun a much better place to live, all of this good stuff came with its costs. losing vi (a necessity to show the cost of the hextech), a world without jayce (no development of hextech—either he successfully jumped, gave up on his plans, or imprisoned after the accident), and possibly a viktor whose life would be shorter (but then again maybe not, because no jinx, no attack). plus jayce and viktor's bond would never develop in this timeline, and they would never be able to save each other there.

which is why jayce was sent to the post-evolution wasteland future instead. because in that timeline he stayed alive to develop the hextech that would go onto be used for machine herald viktor's evolution et cetera. it's crazy how intertwined jayvik's lives are, across timelines, across dimensions. future viktor giving child-jayce the key to stopping the evolution, jayce who would grow up to meet viktor, viktor who would stop jayce from jumping off the ledge, jayce who would stop viktor from doing the same, both necessities to keep pursuing their work, thus leading into machine herald viktor, with jayce being the only person in any possible world who could stop him.

in some strange way it almost makes it easier to stomach that the main timeline (the timeline in which the events of arcane takes place) is so flawed and fucked up, because even that seemingly much happier, more peaceful world came with a very heavy price.

The reason why I need to rewatch the first three episodes of Arcane S1 is because I had genuinely forgotten Sevika was technically with Vander before she was with Silco and that fascinates me.

Vander lost her loyalty but not Silco, because he didn't have time to - would she have rejected him as well, if she'd learnt that he was planning on refusing to give up Jinx for Zaun's independence, the WHOLE reason they'd done all this ugly shit, the Whole reason she'd stayed loyal to HIM and not try to take power herself? Because she was more certain that HE could succeed in freeing Zaun than everybody else? Like I know she says in S2 specifically that they're not giving Jinx to Zaun - but that's after the Council blew up, without her having ever knowing there was another option before that.

I'm also crazy about her relationships with the sisters. Her genuine surprise when Vi shows up at the Last Drop for the first time. Like! If she was hanging with Vander's crew for years (even if maybe she was also already working with Silco? Again, need to rewatch, etc.) she saw Vi grow up. Vi knew her enough that Sevika's betrayal was still violently hurting years later. When you look at the way Sevika and Vi are brought against one another.... Do you think Sevika was another model for little Vi? Did she want to EMULATE HER???

And on the opposite side, Sevika DESPISES Jinx, that she most definitely saw grow up this time around. She's crazy! She's a liability! Silco gives her everything and anything she wants and never lets her suffer any consequences because he loves her to bit! Did she see in Jinx the hint of the weakness that had "plagued" Vander? Had she gathered the danger of Silco following Vander's steps by choosing his kid over the cause??

And yet. Despite it all. They both grieve for Silco (would Sevika and Vi, in another world, have grieved for Vander? How CLOSE was Sevika from Vander??) and Sevika is ready to use Jinx's insane actions to keep the cause going. Cause she, above all else, prioritizes Zaun. Like. When it all comes down to it, Vi and Jinx might be the emotional heirs of Vander and Silco; but Sevika and Ekko are the true heirs of Silco and Vander's ideals.

Im sad the show didn't have more time for her in arc 3, because she deserved it, imo. She's so interesting, the way she thought she had to put herself behind other figureheads her whole life,... the way she tries to take the mantle on her own but the show first says.. no.. people will folllow the blue hair girl... the people need the SYMBOL, not just the pragmatic realistic, down to fucking business angry woman.... she herself believes that too much to get on top of things... right til the end? I wish we'd had ONE more scene where she does, in fact, succeed in becoming the leader herself.

Anyway. I'm rambling again. I'm sorry. My point is. Post S2 Ekko, Sevika and Vi grudgingly building a new future for Zaun together (Jinx hiding in the vents, as ever, etc. helping in the shadows).

The whole gang carrying SUCCESSFULLY what Vander and Silco had failed to do by falling apart.

My pitch for mission impossible 8 is that they put Solomon Lane in one of those gay little transparent prison cells so the gang can begrudgingly go to him for help with one of the steps needed to defeat Gabriel & the Entity 🙏 McQ if you’re out there,

the pathologic Kin is largely fictionalized with a created language that takes from multiple sources to be its own, a cosmogony & spirituality that does not correlate to the faiths (mostly Tengrist & Buddhist) practiced by the peoples it takes inspirations from, has customs, mores and roles invented for the purposes of the game, and even just a style of dress that does not resemble any of these peoples', but it is fascinating looking into specifically to me the sigils and see where they come from... watch this:

while the in-game words for Blood, Bones and Nerves are mongolian directly, it is interesting to note that their glyphs do not have a phonetic affiliation to the words (ex. the "Yas" layer of Bones having for glyph the equivalent of the letter F, the "Medrel" layer of Nerves having a glyph the equivalent of the letter È,...)

the leatherworks on the Kayura models', with their uses of angles and extending lines, remind me of the Phags Pa Script (used for Tibetan, Mongolian, Chineses, Uyghur language, and others)

some of the sigils also look either in part or fully inspired by Phags Pa script letters...

some look closer to the mongolian or vagindra (buryat) script

looking at the Herb Brides & their concept art, we can see bodypainting that looks like vertical buryat or mongolian script (oh hi (crossed out: Mark) Phags Pa script):

God what even do I do with this chapter 😭 but here are some of my thoughts.

SPOILERS FOR CH. 268

- what the fuck

-“Maybe it’s time to try living for someone else” okay the itafushi shippers really won with that one, I can’t lie. But at the same time it feels like Megumi’s always been living his life for someone else specifically Tsumiki. so it kind of feels like the stronger message would have been to decide to live for himself? Kind of how yuuji’s journey went from finding this greater purpose to live and fight to simply just living is okay as well. But that’s just me. Im interested in hearing other people’s take on the situation

- this is from last chapter but I so really like the parallel of yuuji in this fight for his life with Sukuna and Mahito and being so weighed down by everything that he has lost and everything he is still trying to save and then Kugasaki hits that resonance and Yuuji sees that he’s not alone and god something about it always being Nobara and her insanity breaking him from that sorrow and giving him that last push to fight like he's not alone.

- also I do think seeing Nobara’s resonance after having to be the one to break it to itadori that she wasn’t recovering, really solidified that there where things still worth living for.

- I don’t know something about Sukuna finally after all these chapters acknowledging itadori by finally saying his name is so very Sukuna off him. It’s like the inverse of him going into Jogo’s flashing life and telling him he’s strong. This time he’s the one dying and he’s finally acknowledging the boy that killed him. Say what you want about Sukuna but he ain’t no sore fucking loser.

- God how fucking Yuuji Itadori of the whole thing to after everything all the terror and the torture and the pain to still offer Sukuna a chance to live and live better. A chance to not be a slave to his nature to this curse in their blood. God Yuuji what do I even do with you.

- okay so not even a fucking frame of the Hakari/Uraume showdown. Really 😭😭. It looked like things were happening too. With that final parting it looked like they’d reached some kind of understanding and not even a fucking frame. Gege the way your mind works.

- really not even one punch? Not even one gambling shot. I’d have payed good fucking money to see Hakari explaining how a pachinko machine works to a 1000 year old curse servant.

- the little “you’re just lucky is the best compliment for a guy like me” and the “yeah I guess it is” was a great exchange tho. Which is is why I wonder. Really not one fucking frame😭. I wonder if mappa will just ignore this and give them a fight scene anyway like they elongated the Sukuna vs Mahagora fight.

- and now finally, some good fucking food.

- crazy that they all got face scars now. They’re a matching set.

- I wonder what Yuuji’s talk with gojo was. I wonder what parental figure gojo exposed for him.

- I dunno this chapter making me feel like he might come back. Gojo Satoru just might make a come back.

- I’m glad that atleast after everything it’s gunna end with the three of them. Maybe a little damaged and worse for wear but together and that counts for something.

Just finished watching the newest episodes of OFMD 2 and I am a complete shambles. The fact that we've now gotten multiple Ed/Stede kisses, and everything around how messy and beautiful and human they are, has left me aching. But mostly all I can think about is how badly I want to see this with Michael and David:

We've already seen how powerful their connection is--on and off screen--and I would so love to see Michael and David portray this type of intimacy, even if it's not in Good Omens. I want to see them in that afterglow, that utter domesticity of the second gif, resting against throw pillows and bathed in soft morning light. Imagine seeing Michael and David so vulnerable and messy and queer, so perfectly queer and human and alive. And I want them to do it in a context where they don't have to apologize, where there's no hemming or hawing or hedging, only bodies and hearts doing what they do when two people who belong to each other share a moment like this.

I truly hope it does happen someday, both for Michael and David's sakes and ours...

i don't care that much about this serie to be discussing, but i gonna say,........., this season 2 is a little bit weird lets be real(and will be and will end weird probably), but, but, it's not because of the themes or the things that happen, the things that add and the stories are interesting, but the way it's handled, idk, in season 1 every action had a consequence, I would say its losing it's.....humanity(yeah, that's the word, i mean i hate this fiction=reality thing, but season 1 it was very real and human the way the characters handled things)

this season 2 is being less human to me cuz characters pass by things even WORSE than season 1 and the way they handle it's like....okay, meanwhile season 1 the most little thing was enough to make characters lose themselves or reflect(just like us humans, if you see someone talking badly about you, you get sad or get angry, that gets stuck with you for a bit, if that person is your friend you question It, you remember it), it's looking like a Cartoon( cartoons that are usually like that, in cartoons characters handle things in a very vague and fast way, cuz well it's a Cartoon, first cuz it's a fiction so things are not handled in a very real way, and second cuz of the story cuz you don't have time to show that), but here's the thing, cartoons shows that in a visual way, with gestures and stuff, but i feel not even that this season 2 do much, I mean has cuz exist the subble messages/expressions, but it not totally sure by fact, you just can assume the character is acting this and that cuz of that

That just what i have to say, it's losing it humanity
