30 years ago today.
I’m posting this because I study history.
And in case any stupid British armchair historians start bleating on about the usual crap.
The details are as follows.
Members of the UVF armed with machine guns (supplied by apartheid South Africa (who in turn bought them from Israel after they raided a PLO arms depot, idk the exact details beyond that) and the British government) burst into a pub in the village of Loughinisland and murdered 6 people. All of whom were innocent unarmed civilians.
It was also during the 1994 World Cup but that’s not strictly relevant.
It was believed that the attack was organised in cooperation with the RUC as well, with investigations pointing to evidence of collusion.
Why did they do this? Because they felt they ought to.
So they killed innocent people simply because that’s all they were capable of.
Because they viewed Irish people as being subhuman, soulless monsters deserving of death.
Which btw far too many idiots today still believe for some baffling reason, like what is this? 1875?
And which by the way we AREN’T!
Away with that shite!
Such attacks were hardly unusual for the UVF, most people they killed were innocent unarmed civilians.
Above: A memorial site dedicated to the victims of the attack.
Here’s an article from a few years ago too.
Also a link to one of the relevant investigations along with a relevant article.
Before any loyalists, or British or American far right fascist types or stupid Tories show up to bitch at me for posting about this, keep in mind that I study history!
I have an obligation to post about this stuff. As I’ve done for prior events on relevant dates.
So kindly shush up!
Feel free to reblog as well.

Console Sports Games of 1994 - 94 Super World Cup Chukku
94 Super World Cup Chukku is a soccer game released in June 1994 for the SEGA Master System, developed by Open Production and published by Daou Infosys Corp. This Korean-made football title, whose name translates to "Super World Cup Soccer" in Korean, offers a basic soccer simulation experience.
Despite being named after the 1994 World Cup, the game does not feature official team rosters from the tournament, notably omitting prominent teams like Brazil. Players can choose from 24 teams, but gameplay options are limited. There is no tournament mode, and players can only engage in single matches or penalty kick shootouts, either against another player or the computer.
The game lacks depth in terms of features; there are no player statistics, substitutions, or tactical changes. Control-wise, players are limited to basic actions such as passing, kicking, and tackling while defending. Team members on the field are selected automatically.

Hi, I started watching f2 this year and I had question if you can answer: why do some of Franco's fans hate on drivers like Paul?
hmmmm im not sure if im the right person to ask, but i think it's because fans from certain countries (such as argentina) are very very passionate about their drivers? so when they have a driver such as franco who's doing well and driving in f2, they're extremely supportive when he does well, but they also get quite protective when things go wrong. if you check out the f2 ig comment section of posts where franco has scored points, there will be tons of argentinian comments cheering him on, which is lovely and im sure franco is very thankful for their support!! but then in cases such as when paul was upset about franco's overtake during the last lap of imola, they get defensive instead 🤷♀️
#important to note though that not all of his fans are like this !!!! not even close#i know several really sweet fans of him#i think its just because it's a different culture sometimes? around the drivers?#like idk if i should compare it to sweden but it's one of the few places i know how it works in and#here we aren't super nationalistic ?? ig we have a couple of sports where we all watch the national team#like soccer and hockey get most people interested... and pole vault because we have the dude who's the best in the world by faaaar#but if we lose it's kinda “🤷♀️ welp”#when the swedish soccer team took bronze in the world cup 1994 there was a big big crowd though...#but like other than that we don't care a lot#even tho we have 3 drivers in indycar and one in f3 (and two in f4) ppl don't rlly know about motorsports here#but in argentina i heard that franco is really popular !!#and when you have more fans in total then there's def gonna be more bad fans also (even if the percentage is low)#does that make any sense? lmk if u want me to explain more properly#anyways i really do like franco :) so pls don't hate on him bcs of *some* fans#asks!#anon!

Will a personal connection to the 94' Rangers signal good things to come?
*Friday, May 17, 2024. I started writing this post about two weeks ago, back when the Rangers were close to finishing off the Washington Capitals in the first round. Just last night, the Rangers played an amazing 20 minutes of 3rd period hockey to come back from a 3-1 deficit to finish off the Carolina Hurricanes in six games. The thrilling comeback, capped off by a natural hat trick by…

By Adam Elder
(BBC Sport) — On a Saturday evening in February 1990, many of the United States' finest footballers stepped on to A&M Studios' historic soundstage in Los Angeles.
A month before John Barnes would implore his England team-mates to "hold and give, but do it at the right time" in a studio in Berkshire, the United States team recorded their own rap - one they hoped would make the sport famous at home.
In a moment, some of Hollywood's biggest celebrities would walk through the door to join them.
The plan was to record a novelty music video for a star-studded jock jam called Victory. The track celebrated the United States' first trip to the World Cup in 40 years, long before any of these players were born.
Never mind fame, though. In 1990, making football a little less hated in the United States would have counted as a runaway success.
Americans mostly considered football a fringe concern - if they even considered it at all. Baseball, American football and basketball were the "real" American sports.
For most of the 20th century, football in the States was for "the others", to put it politely: expats, cab drivers, dishwashers, exchange students, leftists, intellectuals, Euro snobs and the like.
Still the US Soccer Federation was constantly thinking about how to grow the game.
Werner Fricker, the federation's stern but visionary president, had cannily realised Fifa's desire to wring American dollars out of the world's most popular sport. By 1988, he had guided the United States to victory over Brazil and Morocco to win the right to stage the 1994 World Cup.
But Fricker knew a World Cup in the States faced scepticism. He wanted to prove the hosts had a team good enough to qualify on merit.
He put up his own money to fund a push to qualify for the 1990 event. If the United States succeeded it would be the first time they had made the World Cup since Brazil 1950, where they earned their place via a second-place finish in a three-team pool.
"Werner refused to accept that qualification wasn't doable," said Kevin Payne, former director of marketing and national administrator for the Federation. "He knew what needed to be done, and that past attempts were amateurish."
Fricker made Bob Gansler the team's first full-time coach. A tough yet erudite German-Hungarian immigrant, Gansler's knowledge of American youth football ran deep.
The team picked by Gansler, many fresh out of college, had been raised during the North American Soccer League's Pele-led glory days and were a clean slate from past failures to reach the World Cup.
They had chips on their shoulders for all sorts of other reasons though.
Many of them were second-generation immigrants, their parents and family lives different from an 'apple pie' American ideal. They loved a sport that many around them reviled and yet there was no nationwide outdoor league for them to play in.
