In Indiana in the late 1970s-1980s I think we always went to school for about half a week in August.  More like orientation than regular class time; then had a three day weekend for Labor Day.
In high-school I’m absolutely sure that a similar thing happened at the end of the year and Memorial Day. We had Senior Week and then a three day weekend, and finally graduation. That was 1991.
When did you all start school as kids? Because I have never in life started before labor day EVER, and I think it’s wild these kids are going to school in August-

Have you seen this childhood show: Sandmännchen (1959-Present), Germany (German).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Commentary/Context/Memories: Probably THE most iconic and universally well known german kids’ TV show. It’s still a bedtime ritual for many families.
[Mod A: This is the longest running animated show and the show with the most episodes in history! A show running for 61 seasons (with 22,200 episodes so far!) is absolutely crazy, congratulations to them! The title in English is “Little Sandman” and it is about day-to-day life, contemporary inventions, and adventures around the country. There were two versions, an East German version and a West German version (the East German version is the one ongoing today; it survived the fall of the Berlin Wall because it was more popular). It does look like a very cute show; I find stop-motion really cool! I love all the animal friends (although from my research, I love the hedgehogs best <3)]
