Last night, after dinner, Mum and I took a stroll under a starry sky in Deauville. It had been a wonderful day, motoring on quiet and sunny roads, settling in our rental and spending the afternoon at the beach, swimming in the cool Channel Sea, and sipping cocktails as the sun set... And that excellent dinner. I laid on my bed listening to Oscar Peterson play In The Still Of The Night, the street so silent, the sound of the waves came up my window, muffled; but there. Even if it is raining thoroughly today, I am loving this holiday!

I like Eddie calling Steve "sweetheart" very much; I also currently like the idea of Steve's reciprocal endearment for Eddie being "sunshine," because a) we have seen Eddie smile, the reason is obvious, b) their pet-names for each other need to be sort of old-timey and sentimental for some reason, and c) it's a gentle bit of teasing about Eddie's edgy dark image when in fact he is adorable.

I have a HC that Buck listens to 1930's love songs. The first time he hears Oh Johnny, Oh Johnny from the Andrews Sisters, he immediately changes the name to Tommy and sings it to his boyfriend all the time. I can imagine they're in the grocery store just stocking up and Buck just randomly blurts out
"Oh Tommy, oh Tommy how you can love
WHAT MAKES ME LOVE YOU SO"
And Tommy pretends to be annoyed but he can't control his face so he ends up smiling like a dumbass every single time.

"Tired of bein' lonely, tired of bein' blue, I wished I had some good man, to tell my troubles to. Seem like the whole world's wrong, Since my man's been gone. I need a little sugar in my bowl, I need a little hot dog on my roll. I can stand a bit of lovin', oh so bad, I feel so funny, I feel so sad. I need a little steam-heat on my floor, Maybe I can fix things up, so they'll go. What's the matter hard papa, Come on and save your mama's soul, 'Cause I need a little sugar, in my bowl, doggone it, I need a some sugar in my bowl. I need a little sugar in my bowl, I need a little hot dog between my rolls. You gettin' different, I've been told, Move your finger, drop something in my bowl. I need a little steam-heat on my floor, Maybe I can fix things up, so they'll go. Get off your knees, I can't see what you're drivin' at, It's dark down there looks like a snake! C'mon here and drop somethin' here in my bowl, Stop your foolin' and drop somethin' in my bowl!"

This is your semi-regular reminder that fanfic is mainstream.
And I don’t mean, “oh, we talk about Ao3 more openly now.” I mean fanfic is paid for and distributed by major publishing houses.
Like, what do people think books like “The Song of Achilles” even are?
I will holler about this until I’m dead:
The delineation between “cringe” and “not cringe” hinges entirely upon copyright law.
You can publish New York Times Bestselling Fanfic so long as your source material is old enough.

Prompted by this post about The Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald and Gordon Lightfoot
youtube
There are singers that we love as we sing our lives away And though we all fall silent in the end, They will sing with us forever they’ll be singing every day When we sing the songs they sang.
Chorus: For the song goes on in the songs we sing, And when one song ends then another song begins, So the singers who are gone will be singing once again When we sing the songs they sang.
Some are heard by many and some are heard by few, And though we all fall silent in the end, Someone will remember both the song you sing and you, When they sing the songs you sang.
(Chorus)
Refrain: Sing the chorus, sing the song, And the singers gone before us will be singing right along. Sing the chorus and refrain, And the singers gone before us will be singing once again.
We can drive away the silence of the grave that we all fear, And though we all fall silent in the end, Sing and you’ll be singing with the singers you hold dear When you sing the songs they sang.
(Chorus)
So if you sing along you bring along the singers who are gone Though we all fall silent in the end. Sing and you’ll be singing both the singer and the song When you sing the songs they sang.

OC-TOBER DAYS 11 AND 12: SYMBOLISM/THEMES AND FUTURE
(not ship) HI THIS IS MY FAVORITE DAY SO FAR. combined these two prompts for maximum awesome shifter twins art!!! to glean some of the obvious parts, the symbols used here are their glasses and the playing card diamond, and the future is represented by their mid/late 1940s designs :-) this was inspired by one of the shifter twins songs ever (also look at the album name 😉)

Kenneth kept his promise of singing to his nephew and came over to do exactly that, not too long after his birth. He excitedly ran to the piano stool, accompanied by Maureen who had taught him so well over the years. Now, it was his turn to bring the gift of music to the next generation.
Although he was still too young to quite understand the lyrics, little Louis clearly enjoyed the lively melody surrounding his ears. Giggling joyfully, he started wriggling in his mother's arms, which, with her help, almost could be seen as dancing. In the end, Emma and Maureen started singing along as well, as Kenneth played a few more songs to brighten the afternoon.
[TRANSCRIPT]
*lively piano tune*
[lyrics of Ain't She Sweet sung by Kenneth:]
Ain't she sweet? See her comin' down the street Now I ask you very confidentially Ain't she sweet?
Oh, ain't she nice? Look her over once or twice And I ask you very confidentially Ain't she nice?

Now the question is how much you've selected for an audience that doesn't carry the 'Pete is 19' opinion you've lamented over. -Canary
