Mariana of Austria with Charles II as a baby
I rewatched House of Dragon Season 1's first season and love Alicent Hightower's dress. The scene where she carries Baby Aegon is so cute. After the episode, I scroll down Mariana's painting and see the red dress. I noticed the similarities in color and thought of making this fan art.
Alicent is my favorite character in the series, and Rhaeynra is my favorite character too. Love them

Eating the Rich
So back to the rotting heart of Europe. We've been warned.
Tumblr media
In the 17th and 18th centuries, the powdered wig, or "peruke" was a pinnacle of high society fashion. These voluminous hairpieces could hide you from rampant hair loss, syphilis, and other sins.
The peruke's maintenance introduced a host of bizarre hygiene problems though. The pomade used to style these wigs, made from a delightful concoction of animal fat and flour, attracted lice and other critters very happily. Rightfully so.
Addressing the lice issue became an industry in itself, with wig-cleaning services and lice-picking sessions becoming social events among the elite. According to crazy communists, the more affluent members of society would simply buy new wigs to avoid the infestation, leading to the first known use of the term "throwing money at the problem".
We say: repent for your sins. Be kind, so the lice don't come for you.

Those all sound super interesting! Does the fantasy aspect affect the politics much in your story idea, or is it more to establish a certain vibe to the overall work? What I mean by the latter is sort of a GoT tone as opposed to the former Tolkien type worldbuilding.
It doesn't affect the politics particularly? Yet? Lol it's so very new! I do like some GoT intrigue, and for these characters, that might suit them best, and do a dracarys-style reveal of the major fantasy elements a bit later, to kind of complicate whatever plot they find themselves in.
