I love how important Marcus is to episode 2.

When he walks in, it's to the usual dysfunction that is a feature of the Berzatto family dynamic.

Richie and Carmy are yelling at each other instead of talking, Syd is caught in between them, while the people who love them and are used to it come in to calm things down, fail and make things worse by bringing up Claire - the reason Carmy is spiralling.

Carmy said some shit to Claire & as usual, instead of dealing with his mistake, he is avoiding - by changing the menu, by drafting 'non-negotiables' that he won't discuss because he wants to yell and fight about it because he is a Berzatto after all and THIS IS HOW THEY DEAL WITH SHIT. By yelling and fighting about another issue that they just made up that has nothing to do with the real issue that needs dealing with!

It doesn't seem to be getting better and they're on the verge of wasting an entire day and not working at all when Marcus walks in and offers them something that was missing in all that dysfunction - PERSPECTIVE.

Marcus is a reminder of all the sacrifices and mistakes they've made. A reminder of why they all gave so much so that this restaurant could work. Marcus was working with them in that restaurant when his mother died.

And suddenly, none of the yelling is important anymore.

Wow, the last episodes for both s4 and s5 did such a good job of making me vehemently dislike Claudia very deeply huh. Like, wow. I want to beat the shit out of her for being such a needlessly cruel piece of shit with horrible morals. People say they want to see characters with PTSD and trauma, but then complain that characters are "OOC" or "whiny uwu soft babs" when they realistically depict being traumatized.

Having a preference for or being attracted to someone who's fat isn't a kink or a fetish. You're not a chubby chaser, or have a BBW or BBM fetish, or are into feederism.

I see these accusations thrown around when someone dates or is into a fat person. Don't let that stop you from liking who you like, and stare at those people like the freaks they are for making that assumption (and tell them "that's not what your mom/dad said last night.")

It's actually completely ok to be attracted to a fat person because they're fat. You're not inherently disrespecting them by not ignoring and actively appreciating their fatness. You don't see the same level of scrutiny towards people who have preferences about hair color or height or facial hair. Having a preference doesn't mean you dehumanize people who have the feature you're attracted to.

When you're not forcing them to do or be anything they don't want to be, there's nothing inherently immoral about being attracted to specific physical traits.

Stop treating fatness as a trait that people are attracted to other people in spite of. Stop treating fat people like they're undesirable and any attractions towards them is inherently suspicious. Especially if you're acting like this is somehow for the benefit of fat people.

every scene in this episode shows natsume's growth. right at the beginning, he asks shigeru to teach him how to make a flowerbed - no longer is he going to the library for books because he can't let himself trust anyone enough to ask for help. he agrees to help the youkai but asserts his boundaries consistently. he doesn't hide what's happening from tanuma. he's making peace with his memories, building a bridge between his past and his future. he trusts now that he has a future. he smiles fakely exactly zero times the entire episode. i'm so impressed with midorikawa's mastery in portraying slow character growth over time. all of this feels earned and 1000% more emotionally resonant because it follows from and builds on everything that came before. it coheres.

Houdini 

● silly reference to ‘ooze’ hehe (not so much of an easter egg but more of a bad joke lol)  ● “…What in sweet Marie Curie’s name was that about?” – Marie Curie was a physicist who studied radioactivity, and her research ultimately was used in the creation of the atomic bomb, which uses nuclear fission (aka, atoms splitting apart) (lol get foreshadowed, nerds.) 

The Shrine 

● The Jupiter Jim issue number 84 is a reference to 1984, the year the TMNT comics first came out. 

Mosaic 

● Leo’s hideout is inspired by an episode in the 2003 TMNT, where the fam hides in a water tower when the lair is discovered by the Foot Clan. (And I believe a water tower comes into play in other TMNT iterations, but I wasn’t 1000% sure) 

Marigolds 

● The area where Mikey fights Leo and cuts off his arm is heavily inspired by some of the 2003 sewer layout scenes, with the giant atriums and criss-crossing skywalks over giant areas of water. I loved those designs and wanted to incorporate that. 

Ground Control 

● Another silly joke reference of ‘shellphones’ used in the 2012 series   ● “I doubt it was unimportant considering you made enough to feed the entire New York Dave’s team,” Donnie pressed. He picked up a butterfly, inspecting it, but Mikey knew that he was trying to get to the root of the cause, “What did he say?” – Homage to early concept art of Donnie, where he has a butterfly on his knuckle (look at this cutie)

Mad Dog: Haunted 

● Call-back to the Krang carcass you see for 0.2 seconds in the season finale inside of the Crying Titan, which I thought was a really neat detail. 

Strings

● The book excerpt Donnie reads is written by Professor Honeycutt, a referencing the 2003 Professor Honeycut who studied teleportation and invented the teleportal  ● ‘October 28, 20:20’ written on the sticky note Donnie looks at is a reference to the release date of ‘The Last Ronin’ (10/28/2020) ● ‘By Carl Sagan–! It worked! We’ve established contact–!’ – Carl Sagan lead the effort in the creation of the Golden Record aboard the Voyager spacecraft, whos purpose was to send a message to extraterrestrials who might find the spacecraft as it traveled through vast spans of space. Since Donnie was trying to reach Karai and the ancestors from what felt like an impossible distance, it felt fitting. 

Bed and Breakfast 

● ‘He groaned. His brain was pulsing painfully behind his eyes. His whole body was achy. Great Pythagoras, what happened?’ – Pythagoras was a Greek philosopher referred to as the ‘lover of wisdom’ and made numerous mathematical and scientific discoveries, and I felt like Donnie would just generally be a fanboy of him lol.  ● ‘Sweet Friedrich Sertürner was that blood–?!’ – while working on this chapter, i asked my best friend and beta reader for some inventors/scientist names to make into funny Donnie Swears. She suggested Friedrich Sertürner because he invented morphine which is used to treat pain… and she said 'would be funny...considering how much of it they were gonna need by the time things were said and done with the Key/Leo's infection.' (SHE WAS SO REAL FOR THAT LOL)   ● The ‘Void ducking in and out of doorways just to come out of a totally different door’ chase was 100000% a Scooby-doo reference, lol. It was one of my fav cartoons growing up and that gag felt very on-brand for Leo’s silly ‘Void’ persona and i’m a little proud of it hahaha 

The Deal 

“Neon Void was literally blasted into the air. All the while laughing merrily as he soared. He went crashing into a poor, unkept, unsuspecting billboard for the Super Slam Hockey Game that already happened over ten years ago.” – This is SO obscure but this is a reference to one of my favorite 2003 TMNT episodes, ‘The Golden Puck’. The episode is so peak 2000’s cartoon to me with its silly premise and I just loved it LOL. (Southern millionaire who hires sci-fi-technology cowboy bounty hunters to steal a sports trophy in the middle of New York city? Peak old cartoon synopsis.) 

Rap Battle 

● The first few lines of Leo’s freestyle rap are the 2012 TMNT opening theme lyrics

● Leo runs past a ‘Space Heroes' game cabinet– Space Heroes is a reference to the 2012 TMNT, which was the show that Leonardo was obsessed with

● Leo bounces off the back of the Sonic the Hedgehog balloon in the parade in reference to the fact that they share the same voice actor LOL Extra fun fact this entire fic was set in autumn/fall JUST to write this NICHE SCENE

I’m sure I missed a few I couldn't remember off the top of my head, but I had a lot of fun putting these little references and easter eggs in the story 🩵 TMNT itself always makes call-backs and references to it's other iterations, and i love love love that and wanted to try myself!

As a MareWare ceo. What do you think of the people that call them a “problematic ship”?

I personally have no problem with the ship itself. I think it’s hilarious and offers a unique dynamic between the two. And I personally don’t care if people like the ship or not. But I feel like it’s a weird label to put on what is essentially just a hero x villain /crackship.

Ohh boy.

Okay so there’s a beeg misunderstanding around the Marware ship and a lot of people like to label it as victim x abuser bc Mr Puzzles indirectly tormented the SMG4 crew for a year.

Now, in my personal opinion, labelling all toxic ships as proships is a bit ridiculous bc with that logic, pretty much any ship could be argued to be a proship. I could argue that SMG34 is a proship because SMG3 harassed SMG4 for years and stole from him and tried to kill him. If we were in 2020 back at the peak of SMG3’s villainy during the YouTube arc, I can BET that there would be people calling SMG34 and Mar3 a proship bc Three essentially erased Four from existence and kept Mario as a prisoner until he was willing to cooperate. But of course, those ships are not proships, nor were they ever. But bc of that abuse rule, any idiot can make the argument that they are proships and a bunch of people waste a bunch of time talking about it.

But, if we are going to include the abuse rule, Marware still does not qualify to be a proship.

Why?

Because Mr Puzzles is incapable of actually hurting Mario.

We saw him try to intimidate and threaten him during Puzzlevision and Mario just kicked his ass every single time. Hell, Puzzles was cowering in FEAR of the man! And you want to tell me Marware is an abusive proship where Mario is the poor little victim? Oh please, he wouldn’t take that shit from Puzzles and you know it. It’s MARIO for Pete’s sake. If anyone’s the victim in this relationship it’s Puzzles /j

Also, although the crew were forced to perform in Puzzles’ shows against their will, Mario seemed to be actually ENJOYING Puzzles’ schemes which is ridiculous but true. The only time Mario really hated one of Puzzles’ schemes was when he stole his moustache and as soon as he confronted him, the first thing he did was smash his screen in as revenge.

If you want to write off the entirety of Puzzlevision as Mario being fully brainwashed (despite definitely not being brainwashed in the Gameshow Episode), then fine. We’ll just take a look at wotfi, the Puzzlevision movie, and the meme factory mini arc.

Wotfi 2024: Mario was the only one who wanted to stay in Puzzle Park when they first arrived, he was clearly having fun with a lot of the games (joking around with SMG4, smiling, clearly enjoying himself), in the wotfi song he literally said “I’m-a having fun! Let’s-a stay!” …..

Meme Factory Mini arc: Mario dropped in, danced around a bit, and got threatened by Puzzles. He didn’t even register the threat. He just stood there with a stupid look on his face. He couldn’t care less.

Puzzlevision movie: Mario gets threatened by Puzzles and immediately breaks his screen, demands TV time, and chases him around the entire mushroom kingdom trying to get his TV time back. He is completely unfazed by Puzzles yelling at him for ruining his 5 stars and instead continues to taunt him. When he gets told to ram his head into the wall 1000 times, he comes out completely uninjured afterwards bc Mario cannot get hurt like a normal person. SMG4 beheaded him in “No TV makes Mario not okie dokie” and he’s still doing fine. He clearly does not operate mentally and physically like a human.

It’s also worth noting that Mario is the ONLY character in the entirety of SMG4 who genuinely enjoys the creations that Puzzles is passionate about!! His shows, his theme park, whatever he does out of pure passion! Mario is there and in full support of it, no matter how terrible the parody may be.

If you want to bring up Western Spaghetti and IGBP then that’s fair. However, I don’t think Mario actually KNOWS Puzzles is responsible for those events. Think about it! Mario wasn’t there when Puzzles revealed he was behind those movies. And the crew themselves are seemingly over that whole thing as well. SMG4 is just irritated by Puzzles now. Meggy honestly seems to be the only one who is directly affected mentally by his schemes.

At the end of the day, you’ve got to remember that it’s a silly little meme show and a lot of what goes on really shouldn’t be taken that seriously. Especially with the character of Mario. But even if you want to take it seriously, you’ve got to look at the facts. Mario is too stupid to be mentally affected by what Puzzles does and physically, he is untouchable.

Marware is not a proship. It is not problematic. It’s is just hero x villain.

You don’t have to like it, but don’t go around calling the people who ship it proshippers

i think one of the things that makes the one piece fan letter episode so special is that even though it's ostensibly about 'a letter from the fans to the straw hats' it's also 'a letter to the fans' and its entire message is 'we see you, we are you, and we love you!' from the team

it is, no joke, one of the most heartfelt and beautiful pieces of animation that any studio has ever produced.

it's similar to the 100 volume/1000 episode celebration in that even though the series we're all watching is about these wacky, insane powers and situations, at the end of the day we connect to the story because the emotions it evokes are real, and we might not feel them because our real life talking reindeer son left to join a pirate crew, but there are times in our lives where we've felt the same as the characters whose adventures we're following, even in a different situation

and to have the fans represented in the world, from all ages and walks of life, really is demonstrative of the sheer breadth and depth of the one piece fanbase.

it's genuinely such a special experience to be on this journey with a community of millions. when i see other OP fans in the wild, we've made an instant connection (shout out to that dude in toronto i stopped to chat with for like 20 minutes cause he was wearing luffy cosplay who teamed up with me to talk my friend into trying op!!)-- we might get the series through different mediums, we might connect to it in different ways, we might disagree about quite literally everything, but everyone's ultimately another piece of the puzzle that makes up the whole of the one piece fanbase, and without them we wouldn't be where we are. to have that so lovingly depicted in such a fun, exciting way was amazing!

Helluva Boss S3 predictions

OOC:// these are entirely based off of rumors and speculation, ranking these from "i wouldnt really care if this came true" to "if this becomes true DNR me because i will be DECEASED"

S3 gets cancelled / not produced because Viv either runs out of fans to milk funds out of, her fixation shifts back to Hazbin so Helluva is put to the side (unlikely), or because she gets canceled because of the amount of insane stunts she pulls. I get the feeling that Viv is going to do something so tone deaf and stupid this year, that even some of her more diehard fans will have to jump ship just to save their own faces. Very likely that this will have something to do with the recent EVENT that is US politics.

At the absolute least 2 new one-off characters that they try to oversaturate with merch and hype up only for them to show up for a grand total of 2 seconds and say maybe 4 lines. Either none of them will be fat and they will get super sexualized for easy merch for simps, or if any of them are fat they will be insufferable and supposed to be unlikeable, with minimal merch despite whether the fans like them or not.

Cherubs and Dhorks get an episode to woobify stolas further. My prediction is that they show up for one episode to challenge Stolas after he has lost his powers - but after a struggle they end up defeated because of some last minute plot armor. TBH they might even die just for the joke.

Belphegor and Leviathan end up as one off characters with barely any episode appearances or speaking lines. They are women in Vivziepop shows, i have nothing more to say. Also 1000% chance Vivz continues to portray Belphie as lethargic despite the fact it is extremely ableist to compare a symptom of illness/disability to sloth/laziness. It could be argued that Belphie is lethargic because of drug use (Bee mentions that she has drugs) - but there is blatant ableism in all of Helluva Boss, So Viv gets no brownie points from me. Also, comparing a lack of energy/the inability to stay awake to Laziness/Sloth is still ableist.

Barbie Wire either gets absolutely no screen-time, or one episode about her. I would not be shocked if they completely forget about her until S4 (or only give her minor mentions/flashbacks from blitz POV while she never actually shows up until S4) only to throw her into the ring for some juicy stolitz drama points or to give her a partner for easy merch + "lesbian rep" (i'd put money on Verosika or Sallie May). I feel like because shes Blitz's sister she has to have at least one more appearance (for Blitz's sake, not Barbie's, of course. Because she is a woman in the Vivzie-verse)

Millies pregnancy episode is somehow turned into a Moxxie episode. They'll probably fight but Moxxie will simp his ways back into her good graces. IDRC what happens with the pregnancy bc Millie and Moxxie are such stereotyped one note characters that i dont care about them in the slightest. I also didnt like how they first met shown in ghostfuckers. IDC Moxxie was weird for drooling over a woman he just met.

Loona gets MAYBE one episode, and thats only if shes lucky. If Loona gets an episode it'll FOR SURE be a shared episode with Octavia for the symbolism/parallels between them and their dads. Loona's friends stay irrelevant and Loona has more off screen character development while also continuing to assault people. If S3 is mainly about the goetia's i have to assume they will sideline Loona's "major character moment" until S4, this moment is undoubtedly Stolas becoming the Offical receptionist for IMP, and Loona joining the team of assassins.

S3 is supposed to be about the Goetia - so i have to guess that Paimon will at least make one singular appearance. My money's on him being a plot device to woobify Stolas even more. Viv will 1000% have an episode dedicated to Paimons abuse towards stolas until stolas has to eventually stand up to him.

Verosika gets woobified and/or villainized completely. They already tried to woobify + villainize her in Apology tour, i wouldn't be surprised if we got an encore of some sort. Theres also a high possibility that she will get forgotten about (or get exactly 1 episode to appear in) and Viv will pretend like its because her arc ended in Apology tour or smthn.

I've heard speculation that Striker is likely sleeping with Stella, i know that if it happens it would only serve to make Stella and Striker look like assholes/hypocrites and villainize them further. This is very likely to be canonized unless Vivz wants to spite her critics.

Stella will be completely useless to the plot, while still being depicted solely as a heartless bitch and abuser. She will likely get 2 or potentially 3 significant episode appearances and exactly 0% character development with them. Andre will likely overshadow her again. On the VERY small chance that Stella gets any character development (so viv can try to shove it to the critics) it will be meaningless and not discuss the very real trauma that comes with an arranged marriage, especially for the woman who has to bear an egg for a man she doesn't love and gets harassed by her brother. If she does get any character development she will likely get a one off character to be shipped with. Most likely a woman (IE: marthaberry)

Striker will get one episode, likely for stolass woobification, Stella bashing, and more narrative excuses. My guess is that Stella and Striker are/were together in some way. Potentially before the divorce to make Stella look like a hypocrite for being mad at Stolas, and Striker look like a Hypocrite because of his entire shpeal in Oops.

People have speculated on a Fizz x Ozzie or Stolas c Blitz Wedding. I could potentially see Fizz and Ozzie Wedding, but i dont think Stolitz is in the cards until at least S4. The Stolitz new relationship drama, Octavia plotline and a potential Paimon/Andre/Stella sideplot will likely take up the main narrative of S3

Octavia is tormented by the narrative. Its likely that if Paimon shows up she will interact with him and compare Stolas to him (in a way that makes her feel bad for cutting off Stolas). This will DEF piss me off but I've prepared myself mentally for the Octavia lobotomy that will inevitably happen in S3. I couldn't comprehend a way for the series to keep Octavia mad at Stolas for 2 whole seasons while continuing to up the ante. So if i had to guess Octavia is the main plot device for S3 and the Sins are the main plot devices/antagonists for S4.

More crossdressing because Viv fetishizes queer men. Also because boys dressing up as girls is funny and/or sexy. I hate this because its always portrayed as either an early 2000's misogynistic joke - or is blatant fetishization of queer men. Likely both!

More Incest jokes, Fatphobia, Racism, Sexism, Ableism, Classism etc. AKA the Vivziepop special. No extra comments needed tbh.

Helluva continues to be the Male Rapist Apology Manifesto. Again, the Vivziepop special, no extra commentary needed.

Stolas and Vassago have a fling because Stolas and Blitz get into a fight. Stolas and Vassago dont date but cross boundaries in a very easily excused way that doesnt put any real blame on Stolas- hell maybe they'll pull a "Blitz thinks stolas is cheating on him with Vassago but hes actually "just super paranoid" and Blitz needs to have more character growth so that he isnt scared that the owl that cheated with him will cheat on him, because stolas CLEARLY would never cheat FOR REAL!!" - Another minor prediction about this is that Stolas likes Vassago and Vassago is basically perfect in every way, they have flirty / ship fueled moments, but in the end Stolas cant fill the void inside of him with anyone besides Blitz "despite their flaws/the ups and downs of the relationship", so he knows its True Love or whatever.

Blitz is framed as being unreasonable, the bad guy, and overall the one in the wrong in his relationships again. If i had to guess one of the Blitz episodes will be Loona focused, but wont actually adress the main issues behind their relationship, this episode is likely to be shared with Octavia and Stolas. Blitz will possibly have drama surrounding his ex's/flings again (Verosika most likely), but this time him and Stolas are dating!! so its totally not just apology tour 2.0!!

Vassago and Andre are endgame. This one is unlikely, but even if they just have ship fueled moments i will rip my own eyes out (bc Viv will use it to excuse Andre's creepy-ass comments made towards Stella). But we all know that Viv is notorious for turning fan ships into canon if she likes them enough, so this one really just depends on Vivs mood when she starts scripting the episodes.

I've also heard word that Striker could possibly be sleeping with BOTH Stella AND Andre. If this comes true it will kill me. 100/10 WORST decision that could be made for Helluva besides the inevitable Stolas abuse excuses. Andre literally calls Striker a "Mangey Stray". Vivienne... Vivziepop... WE DO NOT WANT MORE ABUSIVE (racist)CLASSIST YAOI.
