173 Influential SCPs

I went to SCPper, found the most upvoted articles by users who've made at least one SCP, and sorted by time. These aren't necessarily the 173 best articles on the site, but I think they're likely to be the most influential. Longtime fans have probably read most or all of these but maybe this could be a starting point for newcomers.

I think sorting by time is important because the Foundation's been around almost 17 years. Writers come and go, trends come and go, new writers are influenced by what came before, and later articles are often longer and more complex than earlier ones. Just sorting by most upvoted bounces you around time; on the main wiki you read mostly series 1 articles then get dunked into SCP-5000. I hope this is a more natural progression, and that by the end people have more context for what's going on.

Using upvotes from writers only is important because the more writers like an article, the more likely later SCPs are to be influenced by it, so those articles are more likely to be important for understanding the wiki as a whole.

I might do an alternate version of this list that replaces the extremely long articles with shorter SCPs.

LOG 000: Subject appears to take a humanoid form, aside from a pair of ram's horns on it's head and its differing size. From what we've seen on camera, it changes often- exhibiting some kind of joy out of being smaller, tending to stay around an inch, give or take.

LOG 001: Subject appears to be fully sentient (though this is still up for debate), and furthermore, appears to have full knowledge of the facility. On multiple occasions it has faced the camera to wave, or stare absentmindedly.

LOG 002: First human trial. Subject was asked politely to maintain a human size throughout the interaction- despite it's hesitation, it obliged. Subject seems to take the form of a younger trans woman, measuring roughly 5'7 in height, and wore a simple outfit. The researcher sent in was confirmed to be unharmed, but they did mention a mild headache when leaving the room. Medical scans showed nothing wrong with the patient, and they were sent on their way.

LOG 003: Subject asked to be reffered to as "Eve"- it also (somewhat shyly) asked for another visit- it seems to enjoy the company of others. The previous researcher hastilly agreed, and was allowed to interact with it while it was small. Eve had an increased heartrate for the duration of the experiment. She seems... strangely content here. Besides her (limited) size shifting abilities, it's highly doubted that she's anything dangerous.

LOG 004: Our prime researcher entered without permission, and was restrained. Their eyes now display a strange pink tint to them, but nothing was found in another brain scan- however, they were strangely adamant to get out of the examinations as soon as possible.

LOG 005: Eve is shown to have multiple aphrodisiac qualities, ones that she can't seem to control. In her own words, they simply "make them as obsessed as I am". The safe label we had used earlier is being recinded and the lead researcher is in confinement for the time being.

LOG 006: Chaos has broken out, with the researcher clawing to get to Eve. Their hands were bloodied and worn as they broke into her containment- and simply held her in their now red-stained hands. Many audio files have been corrupted from the interaction, but some has been salvaged- and the results are... strange, to say the least. The researcher seems to be murmuring various degrading words, insulting and humiliating- and supposably even reffered to themselves as "her deity". The researcher was caught and dragged away- and a staff member stepped in to comfort Eve. Their words were sweet, calming, and informed her that she was worth more than that- that she was a person that deserved respect.

The video footage cut out from that point onward, but when it resumes, the staff member simply dissapeared.

Eve is still under further testing- and has apologized multiple times for the commotion. She has promised not to make any form of escape, stating that "she likes it here".

The effects of the aphrodisiac faded, though the researcher often requests sessions with Eve. These sessions are allowed, but heavily monitored- and any symptoms of this chemical at work are being monitered.

A discarded finger of the staff member was found on the premesis (the left index finger, to be exact). However, it was not located anywhere near Eve's containment.

Researchers do not need heavy equipment when entering- and it is heavily advised you treat her as sub-human. Many researchers actually use her as a source of entertainment- and find her aphrodisiacs relaxing, if a bit addicting.

002 ▬▬ hwan is technically the reason meliora exists in a weird sort of way? he was originally meant to debut as a soloist but then his plans kept interfering with plans to debut a new boy group so the company scrapped their old boy group concept and chose hwan as their first member, which then corresponded in him picking the next members of the group.

003 ▬▬ he is the only member with recorded, written, and produced solo music that's hiding somewhere on his composter files. after his solo debut was canceled he uploaded the first few songs to soundcloud, and they're the only hint of original meliora solo music that isn't a cover or a dug up melody project. he occasional uploads more of his original songs to soundcloud when he has creative streaks.

006 Mahiru:

Classic bright and cheerful type. Seen as the "positive big sister" of the group because she always takes care and looks out for everyone in her own stupidly optimistic way. Lots of bright colors paired with white, usually with sundresses or fashionable casual outfits.

Vocalist. Her voice is just like her - bright, cheerful, expressive and sweet. Those are just a few words I can use to describe her voice. It's like an angel?? That's the imagery that comes to mind. It's not overly energetic like a schoolgirl (although she definitely has dressed as one during a few performances), nor is it shy and calming. Just, in the middle.

She definitely speaks the most during those behind the scenes interview/day in the life of. I'm not really sure what you call those programs where they just follow around the idols, but she's very talkative, always excited to share more about her routine or about herself to her fans.

Okay and I don't wanna say she's stupid, because she definitely isn't. I guess, trusts too easily is the phrase? Despite working in the ever-corrupt idol industry, she still has a lot of faith in the good of people. Which is both a testament to her determination and naivety. Mahiru is literally the type to warn her other fellow idols about the dangers of leaking too much information to the wrong people, and she'll do the exact same thing on a live interview without even noticing.

Probably also has many of those sad edits that goes shows clip of some idol "bullying" Mahiru, and Mahiru looking sad for a moment before smiling at the camera followed by the "… they don't deserve you…" audio. Like SHE HAS SO MANY OF THOSE. Because she's so expressive, so she can't hide her expressions immediately, and she's also so optimistic that most of the time her expectations are let down. Most of the time the other idols didn't even do anything wrong,,,

Ah and despite what I said about being too trusting, I do think she has a very good people sense. This helped her survive in the industry when meeting with shifty idols and businesspeople alike. I think Mahiru just trusts her fans too much lmao,,,

Has a background as a model!! Her fashion sense has HAD to come out of somewhere. Probably has a Youtube account where she still uploads her covers of songs to, that's how she got scouted in the first place.

I would think that her fanbase (besides Es's) would be the most active in terms of projects. Fanzines, community meetups, large-scale Milgram appreciation trends, basically any and all fan projects. Mahiru promotes the importance of teamwork and collaboration on a daily basis, and her fanbase definitely agrees. She, in turn, ensures to show her love and appreciation to all her fans!! The Flock Matters

Ability: Soak Up

Entry: You can discover these creatures inhabiting most of the Great Lakes of Canada such as the Nunavut Lake and the North Wind. They can’t fly yet so they instead swim underwater and hunt for small fish and critter Balarivogs to eat. They can also absorb the water using their feathers that way when the lakes freeze over they can drink out of their bodies. -Audio log finished.

Entry: Now with a much bigger body to carry water with, Honkmarshes have also gained bigger wings hence having the ability to fly now. They also have two wind trails on each of their heads. This means that when they collect too much water they release it through their heads turning it into a mixture of both oxygen and vapour, they can even shoot a force of wind out of it as a defence mechanism. -Audio log finished.

Entry: As they evolve into their final stage, a Tundrawhoops body temperature drops nearly to zero meaning that at this stage they now inhabit cold/winter environments, particularly the ones far up north making them pretty rare to find. There they fish for Balarivogs in frozen lakes as well as drink from the lake itself. Storing the cold and freezing water helps them turn into ice due to their cold body. They also have one more wind trail on its head meaning that they now must release 70% of their water into cold nitrogen-like wind which comes out of their heads and into the sky, causing a freezing storm that can freeze anything instantly within a mile radius. -Audio log finished.

I pushed pretty hard cuz he was all caked in half-dried mud and I swept the mud right offa him cuz he’d tracked it all over half my floor and he was just gonna track it all over the rest of the floor too if I didn’t do something about it.

And here’s the thing: He loved it. He loved it more than chicken. Got to the point where any time he’d hear me sweeping my front porch I’d hear a splash farther away in the swamp and he’d come up and lie in the sun, demanding I sweep him. I think he just itched all the time and that was the only time he got scritches.

That was a thing for years, that crocogator and I. Dunno what ever happened to him. I had to relocate rather quickly one day, as one does when one is in the line of work I have tended to find myself in over the years. I came back decades later and he was gone.

But the point of this story is, I know you’ve been a bit shy about being all chitin-y near me but like.. what if one day I brought a stiff brush and a bit of soapy water and just… scrubbed yer dried viscera off yer chitin for ya? I bet it’d feel nice. Soothe the itch.”
