Remember how to be a manager
Dominic Fike's manager, Reed Bennett, sucks at his fucking job.
I've seen this conversation play out several times over the past year that I have been a part of fiketwt and every time the above statements gets the slightest bit truer.
The current issue fans are having is the lack of communication and taunting we have received recently. Days before Lollapalooza Dom pulled out with no explanation, initially fans thought this was just him getting sick last minute or something of the sort. He then proceeded to pull out of ALL festivals scheduled for the year and no statement was released. Usually, if an artist does something like that either they or their team will make a statement apologizing for any inconveniences and explaining why this choice was made, we got the exact opposite of that. Instead of giving fans even the SLIGHTEST bit of an explanation we were instead met with Reed deactivating his Instagram account and complete radio silence. As soon as this happened so many people were rightfully complaining and it opened up a discussion on Reed's incompetence as a manager. The conversation then got even more heated as fans realized, 14 minute vinyls were never shipped out.
Today fans are upset because Mr. Reed is back on Instagram and taunting us with the 14 minute vinyl that STILL has not been shipped out to those that ordered. "Oh but sometimes things happen and it can take a while to ship." It has been 165 days of unshipped vinyls and disappointment.
No one gives a fuck about Dom taking a hiatus, do whatever you need to pooks but at least have your team communicate with your fans. Reed's job as manager is to handle things of this nature, statements and bookings and public relations and all that good shit is in HIS job description yet we rarely ever see him actually putting in any work. This tiny ass white man has become more of an ominous fan hating presence that lingers than a real manager.
Dom gained so much success this year following the release of 14 minutes and the end of an incredibly successful tour, and this ill timed break is losing all of which he's gained. Far too many events were booked way too far in advanced and instead of doing any sort of damage control we got spat on and told to figure it out.
By no means does Dom owe us his presence but what we are owed is respect for our money and our time. Fans want what's best for him and to see our favorite artists thrive, but that shitty ass manager of his is dragging him down and ruining so much of a good thing that he has. Dom's career has been stuck in the same place for so fucking long and watching this play out knowing it could all be so different if he at the very least had ONE person on his team with more than 4 brain cells is frustrating. Get this man a new manager please and fucking thank you.
At the end of the day I don't get paid to think about the success of Dominic's career so I'll be sure to stay in my lane as a fan, but Reed needs to step the fuck up and remember how to be a manager.

I feel like some influencers are starting to use the term "de-influence" to talk about bullshit. And my attitude towards that is "no, this means to learn you are selling me the same thing over and over and I can go through life without a drawer full of expensive foundations you said were "the bomb". Gtfo with your "you guys de-influenced me INTO BUYING THIS OTHER NEW PRODUCT" please get away from the internet and get checked.”

Not that anybody asked, but I think it's important to understand how shame and guilt actually work before you try to use it for good.
It's a necessary emotion. There are reasons we have it. It makes everything so. much. worse. when you use it wrong.
Shame and guilt are DE-motivators. They are meant to stop behavior, not promote it. You cannot, ever, in any meaningful way, guilt someone into doing good. You can only shame them into not doing bad.
Let's say you're a parent and your kid is having issues.
Swearing in class? Shame could work. You want them to stop it. Keep it in proportion*, and it might help. *(KEEP IT IN PROPORTION!!!)
Not doing their homework? NO! STOP! NO NOT DO THAT! EVER! EVER! EVER! You want them to start to do their homework. Shaming them will have to opposite effect! You have demotivated them! They will double down on NOT doing it. Not because they are being oppositional, but because that's what shame does!
You can't guilt people into building better habits, being more successful, or getting more involved. That requires encouragement. You need to motivate for that stuff!
If you want it in a simple phrase:
You can shame someone out of being a bad person, but you can't shame them into being a good person.

the story of kfc fucks me up man. the colonel founded this gas station that expanded to restaurant, the chicken at the restaurant gets popular, makes KFC, it gets big and he sells it to a corporation for a lot of money. realizes he got sorta scammed out of the true worth of kfc so tries to get more money and they refuse and the courts side against him. then he starts a new chicken restaurant claiming the corporate people were not making chicken to his standards and kfc sued him because kfc owned the colonel's likeness and the courts agreed. a corporation owned this man's name and appearance. he wasnt allowed to use either, thus legally erasing his reputation making it harder for him to get taken seriously in any food venture. the man, to the day he died, was going into kfc's and throwing fits because the food had fallen into such bad shape he hated it was associated with him. and it's like, whether he's a bad man or a good man or whatever, a corporation owned his identity, stopped him from using his reputation and identity in other businesses, and refused to acknowledge his outrage that they changed his recipes and still attributed it to him. this is literally the obnoxious plot of a jay and silent bob movie, but it was this dude's real life. what the fuck.

I know a company that does both these things and no surprise, when you shop there, the employees are always miserable and agitated. You should kill your managers in such situations imo. The only reason I receive treatment slightly above this is i'm lucky enough to have managers who are also bothered by these business practices. The water one is especially bad if you have heat intolerance, I was so sick regularly before I switched to a department with more leniency regarding water.
Depending on where you live these things may violate labor laws though so if you're in the same situation look into it. However in my experience any labor law violations happen without consequence regardless

This problem is nothing new, but this specific example with these numbers puts it into a fucking brutal perspective.
To put these numbers a different way: A Taco Bell burrito that used to cost ~7 minutes and 20 seconds of minimum wage work now costs ~30 minutes and 30 seconds of minimum wage work.
You used to be able to work at Taco Bell anywhere in the country and make enough money in one hour to buy at least 8 burritos (maybe 9 if you're a manager or something) and feed, like, 3-4 people a decently-filling meal. But now, the same amount of work at the same job will get you one meal for one person. And this change has happened over a mere 15 years.
Remember this whenever you see rich people demonize younger generations for our financial situations, when they call us irresponsible for not investing a ton of money in savings accounts.
