Like enthusiastic as in, he not only spends a lot of time on that stuff, but if you show any interest in any of the big topics at all? you get sat down with like a 20 hour powerpoint (made for just this kind of occasion) to prime you for the actual topic --y'know to fully appreciate the most interesting bits of what he actually wants to talk about. [[ Upon thinking about it, I felt that I should rectify a small detail previously mentioned on a different post (one which talks about Greg's overall fighting style) and all the while, take the opportunity to explain a visual detail in this post. Namely, the inclusion and absence of horns between images!

In case anyone was wondering... I did not, in fact, forget about the horns between the images. It's very intentional! Because Greg just flatout didn't have them before. The horns appeared right after he destroyed the personification of his own corruption/the Giygas aspect to him, in accordance with not just his personal growth but the Ancient Ones genetics (that all Psions carry --it's just largely regarded as 'junk' genetics because Psions, being configured and designed the way that they are, don't really benefit from the genetics) triggered via the human-raising experiment involving him and reaching its peak in the Giygas transformation.

The fact of the matter is that the Giygas transformation? is a corrupted version of an actual stage in life with the Ancient Ones--one achieved only through reaching the correct emotional and mental maturity and in turn, gaining a secondary form of GREAT power--... as in the ultimate culmination of their power! And so, the Ancient Ones genetics were especially active during this moment AND ended up continuing on even after Greg came back from it because of how important said genetics were. These genetics are still very active (and ultimately reinforced by his choice to pray in limbo + the way this gets embodied in his primary weapon of choice) and visually, come through as the tiny horns that he has on his head.

Horns because Ancient Ones had them were not only a prominent visual characteristic of Ancient Ones, but conveyed a lot of information pertaining to power and maturity so there was a lot of cultural significance associated with the horns among Ancient Ones as well. Similarly, the tiny horns that Greg has aren't just there as a visual indication of his being closer to Ancient Ones after the whole M2 + limbo experience, BUT though it isn't anything crazy or worldbreaking wrt power, they do have a bit of power to them that impacts Greg in a more subtle way.

Specifically, they give him the ability to actually change a previously unchangeable statistic --speed! 'Previously unchangeable' because by design, the type of Psion that he was, didn't lend itself to great physical abilities. He only had the high durability + adaptation to previously damaging external forces and environments that all Psions tend to have. And that was it --anything else? it would be set as is and he would never be able to change it. As in no amount of training of effort would ever make him physically strong for instance.

But, with that bit of Ancient Ones-related power from the horns, he was able to actually train up to legitimately be exceedingly quick --quick as in he can be so fast that it looks like teleportation, but without the PSI sparkle to it. It's more like one moment he's a few meters away and before you know it, he's right there in your face. The trade-off with this though is that if the horns are ever damaged, though they will regenerate on their own (more so if the correct treatments are applied to expedite this process) in time, during the time that it takes for them to regenerate? his speed will be impacted to the degree that they've been damaged, becoming less impacted as the horns heal up over time. ]]
