I need to see Steve Harrington be a father. Need it. Need it so bad. Walk with me here.
He holds his newborn child. His arms are flexing really hard because he's both holding on tight, but also so fucking scared. One of his hands coming up to gently trace the soft jaw of his baby, brushing the pad of his thumb over one of the bulbous, flushed cheeks. Eyes half-open as he stares down at this baby, just an instantaneous love outpouring through him; he's teary and trying so hard not to cry because he wants to see his baby, wants to commit every last detail to memory, wants to just stay in this forever—even when the baby squirms and cries and screams, he just wants to remember the sounds, the expressions, wants to remember what it felt like to hand off the baby for feeding time, wants to remember the weight in his arms—such a different weight to all the death he's held in them, replaced now by brand new life that he nurtured with all his efforts; no matter how afraid he was of becoming a parent like his own.
The learning stages? Oh, give me a fucking break! He's sitting on the floor of his living room, criss-cross, bouncing his kiddo on his knee. He's singing some little song that doesn't have lyrics, doesn't even exist, but it's just theirs. Smiling all proud at the fact that his baby is babbling now. And then his kid says 'da-da' and he's just...melted. He wants to screech so bad, but doesn't want his kid to be scared. His hands tense lightly, squeezing, but he's just so careful about it. Giddy and smiley and near crying again. Showing off the new word to anybody in his vicinity, the number one cheerleader from the get-go. Baby starts walking and he makes sure that it happens as much as possible, guiding and holding the baby's hands and walking alongside his baby no matter how slow he has to go—he's already thinking about all the walks they're going to take, down to the lake to feed the ducks, to the park to play, trick-or-treating...
And he's so attentive. So, so attentive. Drops everything he's doing whenever his kid needs him. Wants him, too. Will read bedtime stories until they both end up passed out in the nursery's rocking chair, in the toddler bed, in the twin bed. He lets his kid draw on him. Hangs up all the artwork on the fridge, rearranging them so they all fit. He's cutting up the food so that it's something his kid will eat—dinosaur sandwiches? sure, why not! Doesn't make his kid try something they don't like, something his parents never did for him. Listens to music he doesn't particularly enjoy, but his kid enjoys. Fully involved playtime; Steve turns into a jungle gym, he's doing all the sounds for the trucks/cars, lightsaber fights, improvised story when it comes to playing with figurines.
Opens up the middle of his bed for his kid when they have nightmares. Soothing them anyway he can. Scalp massages, fully tactile hugs, just holding them in his arms, anything he can possibly do. If they catch each other in the middle of the night, Steve's offering a cookie or some sort of hot drink or a full on grilled cheese sandwich.
High school? Steve is weeping. But he's still as attentive. Listens to every single problem his kid has. Gives advice where it's needed. They gossip, of course they fucking do. He pulls his kid out of school every once in a while just to hang out, give them a mental break. They argue from time to time, but he can recognize when he needs to apologize and does. Doesn't like to hold things above his kid's head—like his parents did. Doesn't remind them of things they did wrong. Doesn't call his kid names. He's always present when he needs to be. Is consistently proud of his kid, even when they completely fuck something up.
Anyway. Just Steve being a dad!!! I love Dad Steve Harrington! Give that man a baby, god damnit!!!!!

Thursday came in a false sense of security.
Steve woke up to the gentle sun in his face, the breeze of an open window in his hair, and his son’s chubby baby fingers wrapped around his hand.
Steve grinned sleepily at Louie and laughed when baby Louie smiled so wide back at him that his paci fell out.
Steve held Louie close while preparing a small breakfast of eggs and toast, then continued to hold him while making his bottle and setting out a few cheese puffs for him teethe on.
Steve made sure Louie ate first, helping him hold the bottle and then laughing at the pure mess he makes with the cheese puffs. Then Steve himself ate. Clean up was quick enough witch a wet rag and a speedy wipe-down.
Later on, just as Steve was thinking about preparing lunch, the front doors opened.
“Shit. Shit shit shit SHIT.” Steve angrily whispered to himself. Little Louie stared at him from where he was propped on the couch, not a thought behind his wide eyes. Though he obviously knew something was wrong with his dad.
Steve was quick to buckle Louie into his car seat, bundling him up with a blanket and giving him his bear.
“Stephan? Are you in the living room? Come grab our bags, please,” Cynthia Harrington called from down the hall.
There was no getting out of this. No way of getting Louie to the car without his parents seeing. But he’s sure they already knew of the baby, or suspected something. Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln were nosy motherfuckers set on ruining Steve’s life.
Steve sighed and looked at Louie. He knelt in front of the car seat and rubbed a hand gently on his son’s face. Louie grabbed his finger and smiled around his paci.
Steve wanted to cry.
“Stephan! Your mother called you so answer her!” Richard Harrington yelled. Steve heard the wind outside pick up aggressively and cursed the mornings sunshine.
“Coming!”
Steve padded into the hallway where his parents were taking off their jackets. Cynthia and Richard were picture-perfect— or they would’ve been. If it weren’t for the pressed line of his mother’s mouth and the hard line of his father’s jaw. Steve knew what was coming before they did.
“Stephan, the bags.” Were his mothers first words to him. Not “Hi, son, how have you been?” Not “Sorry we’ve been gone for nearly 8 months.” Not “How are you feelings after that concussion from last November? We’re terribly sorry we couldn’t stop work to simply call and make sure you were ok.”
No. None of that. Instead he was demanded around like a fucking dog.
“Um. Actually, I had to talk to you both. If you don’t mind—“
“Save it. Take the bags upstairs and meet us in the living room,” Richard stated harshly.
Steve flinched. He hated himself for flinching. But they couldn’t go in the living room. Not while Louie was still in there.
“Actually, dad— it’s very important and I just really need to talk to you guys—“
“Stephan!”
Steve winced at the pitchy tone of his mother.
“Please, I promise— It’ll be worth your time, just— just give a minute, please.” He was begging now. He hated begging.
Richard had grown tired of Steve’s fumbling for words and shoved past him. Steve knocked into the wall with the harshness.
“Stephan, you will listen to your mother and take the bags upstairs and meet us—“
“Dad, wait—“
Richard stopped in the doorway to the living room, whatever insult or command he was going to throw Steve’s way dying on his tongue.
“Stephan. Why, in the Lord’s name, is there a baby’s car seat in my living room?”
His tone was calm. Steve knew better than to think he was actually anything other than furious.
“Thats— that’s what I needed to speak to you about. Please, I—“
Steve should’ve anticipated the slap.
But he didn’t. And his head snapped to the side with the force that left him seeing stars.
Steve didn’t stay long enough to listen to his dad yelling slurs or his mom crying. He simply grabbed Louie’s car seat, picked up his shoes by the door, and left.
.
Steve had been driving for near three hours before he pulled over. He’d circled the entirety of town before finally pulling into a small dirt path by the quarry. Belatedly he realized someone was crying.
He hurried to get out of the car, rounding to the back and sliding into the backseat to sit next to Louie’s car seat. But Louie wasn’t crying, he was sound asleep.
Steve realized he was crying.
He startled when a broken sob tore itself out of his throat. He hurried out of the car and dragged himself the few yards to the edge of the quarry.
He sat down and let the rain pelt him from all angles. His face stung. Steve knew the slap would bruise phenomenally in the morning. It’d probably affect his tips at work.
He swung his feet idly on the edge, belatedly realizing he wasn’t wearing his shoes or even socks for that matter. His heels where starting to bleed from each time he rammed them into the rocks on the edge of the cliff.
Steve doesn’t know how long he sat there in the rain. He snapped back to reality when a particularly loud burst of thunder rumbled in his gut. He went back to the car.
Louie was still sound asleep. Steve figured he himself should most likely sleep as well. He didn’t know when he’d be able to get a place for them, but he’d already been saving up.
He curled up in the back seat next to baby Louie. He didn’t bother with a blanket, and he knew he’d get a cold with his clothes still being wet, but he deemed it fine.
Steve’s sleep was fitful and restless. Filled with slurs and yelling and running from monsters that shouldn’t exist.
.
It was a week before he finally got a place.
Not that long, sure. But it was a week of pure dread and exhaustion and nightmares.
The trailer he was looking at was located near the edge of Forest Hills. It was two bedroom one bathroom and had a small living room (with no ceiling light) and a kitchen (that barely had any wiggle room). But it was his.
He’d been at work when he got the call— as that was where he told the landlord to call. Mason— the line cook— called him back.
“Hey Steve-o! That landlord guys on the phone!”
Steve jumped so hard he nearly spilled the waters he was carrying.
“Be right there, Mace!”
Steve was quick to get the waters to the table 7 and take their orders for the night before he rushed back. He tossed his notepad at Mason and snatched the phone.
“Hi, Mr. Gardison!” he greeted cheerily.
“Stephen, hi. So…”
And Steve was given the trailer.
He was vibrating with excitement by the end of his call. When Steve returned the phone to its holder he was picked up from the ground in a bear hug. He laughed and hugged Mason back.
“You got the place!” Mason cheered.
“I got the place!” Steve laughed.
The rest of his day went swimmingly. He would be able to officially move into the trailer on Friday— which was fine by him. Two days of waiting was nothing.
Steve was given congratulations from a few of the regulars. Mr. Jinkins gave him a good slap on the shoulder while Miss. Gladson pulled him into a hug. They tipped him an extra 5 dollars each before they left.
At the end of his Wednesday shift, Steve gave out hugs to most of his coworkers. Mason, Allya, and his boss Michelle got hugs while George and Gwen got high fives. Steve left feeling light on his feet with a to-go bag for dinner.
Thursday was filled with the lunch rush. Steve had to take his break early to check on baby Louie in the back. He felt bad turning George’s manager office into a daycare but George assured him it was fine.
“Hey honey,” Steve’s cooed at the baby in his arms. “How are you doing, huh love? You’ve been cooped up for so long I know.”
Louie gripped his baby hands into the front of Steve’s apron. He was back in the kitchens today, Allya taking his place up front waitressing.
Steve hopped around and lightly bounced Louie against his chest, humming quietly and gently.
Louie whined and continued to cry.
“I know Louie, I know. You hungry? Hang on baby.”
Steve made sure Louie was fed and burped and laid him done for a nap. He only had an hour of his shift left.
Thursday finished off normally and Steve left with his usual dinner. He drove out to the quarry and parked before sitting in the backseat with Louie to eat.
Eventually he took Louie out of the car and sat with him on the rocky ground of the quarry. Steve held Louie close in his lap, letting the baby play with his hands and fingers and babble about nothing and everything.
Steve occasionally answered with little gums of encouragement, but for the most part he let baby Louie talk to himself. He was lost in thought, daydreaming about the trailer and how they got to move in tomorrow.
Before Steve knew it Louie had fallen asleep and he himself was on the verge. He got them both settled in the backseat once more and allowed himself to drift off.
We’re finally, maybe, getting somewhere lol. Tag list is open to everyone still, feel free to ask for a place!! We’ll get into some of Steve’s school life in the next part hopefully 🤞

listen I know it’s kind of corny and inaccurate to act like every single person in the dc universe knows each other and is besties but it IS endlessly funny to me to follow the web of connections and see how many degrees removed from each other everyone is.
like look at the arrowfam okay. ollie and dinah are together, ollie is homoerotic best friends with hal, dinah is homoerotic best friends with babs. roy is dating dick, has a kid with jade, and is basically an adoptive father to both grant emerson and rose wilson. connor is dating kyle and is constantly followed around by eddie fyers. mia is friends with a lot of the second gen teen titans kids, had an on-again-off-again thing going on with steph for a while, and is currently dating sienna. emiko is besties with courtney and some of the other recent teen titans. sin has a small army of protective aunts from the birds of prey. the real question is how far does it go before ollie puts a cap on the number of people who are invited to family brunch on sundays
#arrowfam#LIKE. PLSSSS#can you imagine them all in one room.#roy: hey ollie can garth come to brunch this week.. he’s in town and i never get to see him and he really wants to try your pancakes#ollie: idk roy we’re already at max capacity..#roy: please dad🥺🥺🥺🥺#ollie: …..fine. someone will have to be uninvited then#mia: why? what’s one more person?#ollie: bc I have Very Strict Rules!!! If I don’t follow the invite limit then the whole town’ll show up every week!#connor what about axing kyle#connor: …dad. I am not disinviting my boyfriend and Only Guest to brunch bc of your arbritrary rules.#ollie: fine that’s fair. um…#mia: what about grant#ollie: for the last time mia we are not banning your nephew from family brunch because he allegedly#ate some of your bacon one time. it was not a big deal and you need to get over it#mia: UMM‼️‼️ it was a big deal TO ME🗣️🗣️and I don’t appreciate you INVALIDATING my emotions like this‼️‼️#ollie: uhhh emiko what about courtney. she comes over like every week will she be fine sitting this one out#emiko: I can’t believe this. how dare you deny my ONLY FRIEND IN THE WORLD an invitation to brunch. it’s like you hate me#ollie: EMI I KNOW YOU PATENTLY HAVE MORE FRIENDS. who have BEEN TO BRUNCH BEFORE.#emiko: YOU CAN’T TAKE COURTNEY FROM MEEEEEE#ollie: FINE ok.#roy: why don’t you just tell hal not to come all the way down here for brunch I mean he’s here every week anyway#ollie: bc it’s hal okay. mind your own business.#roy: fine. but we’re running out of people#connor: I mean………. what about eddie#ollie: ………….. yeah ok I’m sold. that works. meeting adjourned good job team#mia: why are you so worked up about keeping attendance low anyway#ollie: MY KITCHEN TABLE CAN ONLY FIT SO MANY SUPERHEROES MIA

Watching Eddie Begins with Buddie-colored glasses on is already crazy enough, but I just caught something that I never really thought about before. Athena tells Bobby that the news crews showing up before she leaves for another call might turn the call into a nationwide story. And then Buck absolutely LOSES it when 30 feet of wet earth falls on top of Eddie. So yeah, maybe Bobby pulls Buck away to stop him from futilely digging for Eddie with his hands, but maybe he also does it because he doesn’t want his kid’s grief and fear and love for Eddie being broadcast across the country. Especially not when Bobby thinks that Eddie’s probably already dead. And not only does Bobby pull Buck away from the well, he pulls back right into his lap. This is the closest we get to Bobby cradling Buck in his arms until the lightning strike, and it’s because he doesn’t want Buck to be in pain, and he most certainly does NOT want the tragedy of Eddie’s death to be made even worse by Buck’s pain over it being broadcast to the entire country.

I can see the show addressing the whole father and sons of it all with Ramon and Eddie and Chris especially after 8x04 and the convo he had with the cheerleaders father and that’s good that’s great if they address it well but I think the Helena of it all is going to haunt me forever if it’s not touched on with the comments “don’t drag him down with you” and the way she’s so happy to have Chris as a do-over and how she was the present parent and the role she plays in the Diaz family dynamic and just how both his parents have fucked him up and how Eddie only really sees his dad as the messed up one

Hot Take
BUCK IS THE BEST PERSON TO GIVE DATING ADVICE TO CHRIS, HEAR ME OUT.
Okay, I know we're all laughing about women fleeing Buck and how awful he is at relationships, but I don't feel like that's true.
First of all, just because a relationship ends, doesn't mean that it FAILED. Dating is as much about getting to know YOURSELF, what you want out of a relationship and what your own boundaries are as it is about getting to know the person you're dating. It's about growing, and learning from your mistakes, and I feel like Buck HAS done that. I'm not saying he's a perfect dater (the Taylor/Lucy thing, wtf was that?) but also, he has gotten better.
With Abby, he grew from fuckboy Firehose to someone that is considerate and thoughtful to his partner. (I don't LOVE that we credit Abby for his growth, since he was the one that made the initial boundary to not meet up right away because he didn't want to fall back into that sleep with anything that moves mindset, but she is mostly credited with it canonically, so we're going to use it.) Also, she didn't leave because Buck was a bad boyfriend or anything. She left because she needed to find herself after her mom died, and that's it.
With Ali too, she left because of his job, because she couldn't handle being with a first responder, which is a genuine concern for a LOT of people. It's hard to love someone with a dangerous job like that, and not know if they're going to come home at night. It had nothing to do with who Buck was as a boyfriend.
With Taylor, that whole relationship was a mess, IMO, them getting together when they did was a recipe for disaster. Obviously, Buck shouldn't have asked her to move in because he was scared to tell her about Lucy, but I'm not saying he's a PERFECT dater, I'm saying he's learning, and that's what's important. When he did admit to the kiss, Taylor is the one that decided that it wasn't a hard line for her, or she would have broken up with him, living together or not. It probably would have been awkward and complicated, but it was all of those things when they DID break up later in the series. From this relationship, Buck learned that it's better to be alone than it is to be with someone for the wrong reasons.
He has had a lot of growth from s1 to the end of s6, and that is clear in his dating.
Now, everyone that's saying Eddie should go to Bobby or Chim for advice, I'm going to say this: It's easy to date when you immediately find the person you're going to marry.
Let me be clear, I'm not saying that Madney & Bathena don't have their own struggles within their relationships, but Bobby and Chim got pretty luck, they found women that they clicked with and then eventually fell in love with almost as soon as they went looking.
When Bobby decided he was ready to move on from Marcy, the ONLY person we actually see him dating in the show is Athena, and they end up married.
After Tatiana leaves Chim, and he decides that he's going to be himself and look for a genuine connection, Maddie is conveniently placed in front of him.
I'm not saying that either of them are bad daters, or bad partners or anything, but we don't really SEE them date. Maybe it's because they're older and they already know what they're looking for and what they can and can't accept in a relationship, but realistically, it's wild to think that you're going to fall in love and get married to the first person that you find when you start dating. The majority of people have to date around and actually look to find the person they're meant to be with, not magically find them right out of the gate.
Especially for a FIRST first date, it's all about figuring out how dating works, what is and isn't expected and acceptable and navigating getting to know a new person, as well as yourself, and I think Buck is the clear best option when it comes to experience about women. He's had several girlfriends and also convinced only God knows how many people to sleep with him, so he's obviously charming, and pleasant to spend time within a romantic situation.
Also, God knows nobody is asking Eddie for dating advice, since the man only married his girlfriend bc she was pregnant and then had to be told (BY BUCK) that he deserved to be happy in a relationship instead of sticking it out for everyone else.
Anyway, this has been on my mind ever since that interview came out with everyone making fun of Eddie for going to Buck because he's had (based on what we're reading about Natalia's character) 4 "failed" relationships, but again, I truly believe that a relationship ending does not automatically mean it failed.
Also, Eddie goes to Buck because they're CO-PARENTS & SOULMATES but all of this other stuff too 😂

Thinking about steddie future where they're both just average guys. No rockstars, no basketball players just two Normal men living a normal life because honestly? they deserve it. They deserve soft domesticity and happiness.
They both have jobs they like but don't love and they're happy with that. Eddie maybe becomes an electrician, working for someone else's company. His coworkers are chill, he gets to get out and work with his hands and that's more than he could have asked for. Steve is a physical therapist, or a manager in some business. He likes his team and the steady hours. He's not working for his dad which is a plus.
They buy a house together, that's not a mansion but it's not a trailer either. Steve does a lot of the dishes because Eddie hates it, hates the feeling of old food on the plates and cutlery. So Eddie will kiss Steve on the cheek and does the laundry because Steve fucking hates laundry. And sitting on the floor watching TV while he folds clothes is honestly sort of relaxing?? Love is doing the chores your partner hates.
Steve and Robin go out for brunch at least once a month, where they catch up and gossip for hours and hours and Steve comes home lighter with updates on Robin and Vickie. Eddie will have nightly phone calls with Wayne, where they talk and laugh and Eddie will eventually hand the phone over to Steve so he and Wayne can talk sports together. When he's in town Dustin will come over and stay in their spare room and they laugh and joke so much it's just like old times. They go over to Jeff's house for dinner on a semi regular basis, and it's nice having normal friends.
They adopt a very annoying cat who will climb all over them in bed and meow in their faces when they don't wake up to feed it breakfast in time. Steve will go for jogs on a Saturday morning, coming home to Eddie reading in bed. Some old western book Wayne recommended to him. There's a steaming cup of coffee waiting on their bedside tables that Eddie's prepared.
They take time off of work and go on a week long vacation because they can do that now. They do dorky touristy things and Eddie buys a mug to send to Wayne. Steve takes a lot of dorky photos of the two of them.
Idk they deserve to be normal and alive and happy with no upside down anymore <3
Oh I love this! I had actually been thinking about tradesman Eddie for a little bit I am so, so glad you’ve come up with this!
I can so completely see him learning a trade and just getting employed and put through his time by a small local employer! He has to go through his exams and that part of it worries him when he first gets the job but his team end up being really supportive and Steve stays up late with him, practicing circuits and wiring and quizzing him on currents and volts. Eddie returning the favour, letting Steve mark up his muscles and be a living anatomy dummy. Sure it gets a little sexy from time to time but more often than not it’s just them testing each other as Steve identifies bones and Eddie talks about parallel circuits.
The monthly brunches mentally and physically revive Steve after working extended hours with patients that he really does want the best for but a jobs a job and it can get pretty tiring. They joke that they rebalance each others chakras but they really do feel realigned after their meet ups. Eddie can see it to, sometimes he’ll come pick them up when it’s been a boozy brunch and delights in seeing them happy and light, clambering over each other to tell Eddie something about one of the waiters or an especially good dish they ordered. When he drops Robin home Steve sits in the front and looks at peace and Eddie feels the same way.
Their weekends are for them, sometimes that means staying home and cleaning the whole place between ordering food in and sometimes that means going on a day trip and taking Wayne around all the antique spots around the county and seeing what horrors they can uncover. Top spot currently sits with Wayne’s find of a doll whose limbs had been replaced with horse legs and had the head of a fish. Of course they bought it.
Every time they go on a holiday they make sure to send postcards to everyone, including themselves, seeing if they’ll get home before the postcard does. Steve keeps them in a photo album, each with a Polaroid of them next to it. Sometimes taken by a stranger, sometimes just a close up of their faces squashed together. It’s Eddie’s favourite thing to go through on their anniversary, or any day really, just loves being reminded that this is the life they get to have.
It’s mundane, dare say even normal, but they love it. Steve comes home every night, happy to put his scrubs in the washing machine next to Eddie’s uniform, happy to be where he feels loved.

Eddie only just was able to get the barman's permission to perform this night, and glad he is for it, as his pockets have weighed lighter than ever before in his life. He'd be pleased to find pay in a tankard or loaf tonight, anything to fill his aching belly.
But he's lucky as the men and women here seem to be in high spirits. The land has long been in war since the king's death, rotten bastard he may have been. Eddie hadn't been sad to see him go, but the chaos that followed had ruined the smallfolk in consequence since their coward prince had fled the scene of his crime. The king had been cruel, but still he'd been their king, and the common people spit on the prince's name still, even when some new royal's been crowned and brought peace with him.
And that kind of ire is what feeds Eddie on nights like this.
"Kingslayer, kingslayer, little Prince Steven has run," he sings, bawdy and loud as the crowd of men around him sing along. "Run up the hills and past the sun, took our king Phillip and gutted him plain, our kingslayer Prince Steven, a coward more than a maid!"
They sing along with him, hooting and hollering all to the end of it, and pay him in copper coins and ale that Eddie takes happily, slurping it down as he rests by the fire.
It's then he sees the table in the corner, the cloaked figures surrounding it, and the woman glaring daggers at him. But more interesting than that is the most beautiful man Eddie's ever seen, smiling at him wearily, eyes bright and interested and a little sad. Eddie's got no fear of a quick tumble with dangerous men, so he takes his gittern and his ale and makes his way quickly to them.
"Fair night, weary travelers," Eddie crows as he wiggles himself between the woman and the beautiful man. "What brings you so far out from the capitol?"
The lot of them regard him with mixed interest, the older man not even looking up and a girl with firey hair treating him with a sign of boredom.
"What business is yours to know, bard?" she says, already turning her nose off to watch the rowdy tavern beyond their table.
"None at all," Eddie says, leaning into the man beside him, slinging an arm over his broad shoulder to feel the heat of him beneath his cloak. "I'm here to do nothing but entertain tonight, and I fear I've bored your table to tears! I do take requests you know, for the right coin."
This he says to the man under his arm, leaning in closer to get a good look at those pretty brown eyes in the dim light of the fire.
"We have no coin for you, sot," says the woman beside them, ire evident in her tone. "Be gone with you—"
"No coin, that's true," says Eddie's beautiful man. He smiles at Eddie now, pearly teeth and pretty lips, and Eddie would sing him any song for nothing more than to keep those eyes on him. "You'll have to forgive us, we're not good company I'm afraid."
"Richer company wouldn't be as sweet as yours, dove," Eddie tells him, watching the pink of his cheeks darken.
There's a gagging sound from across the table, and its then that Eddie realizes he's in the company of striplings. Two girls in men's clothes, both of them are young in the face and barely past their majorities. Yet still they are travel-worn, all five of them: the two girls, the woman and the dour man, and the beautiful budde under Eddie's arm.
Chuckling, he says to Eddie, "A wag you are, bard, with such empty words. Do you flirt so with all poor men you find?"
"None are poorer than me, sweeting, and none are more enchanting than you. It is payment enough just to look at you, and I would sing for an age and fill my empty stomach with just your smile, or your taste if you'd grant me—"
"Gods damned!" the woman Eddie's other side gusts. "I cannot hear another foul word." She stands then, and the two girls follow, one rolling her eyes and the other giggling quitely. The woman leans past Eddie and hisses into her companion's ear, "Be done with this fool swiftly, or I'll leave you to the wolves."
"You'd never," he says back to her, smiling at Eddie, face flushed pretty and dark even as he speaks.
"Hopper would never," she says tilting her head at the remaining dour man still sitting at the table, deep into his cups and paying no mind to any around them. "But I would sell you for tanner and a duck to the first bidder."
"I'm worth at least an ox," he tells her with a cocky grin, and Eddie might want more than just one tumble with this man. "Find a room and I'll find you when I please to."
She huffs and stomps off, the girls on her heels.
"So," Eddie breathes, leaning even further into this beautiful man, until his voice is a secretive whisper, just for the two of them to hear. "Tell me, sweeting, what shall I call you when I write songs of your beauty to sing across the land, until kings beg me to their courts to recount your grace, your smile and your laugh?"
This man, to Eddie's displeasure, seems to wilt, to grow weary once more, even as he smiles and leans close, his words scarcely a breath against the shell of Eddie's ear.
"If it pleases you, and I'm sure that it won't," he confesses. "You can call me Steven."

Batman 911 au is absolutely inspired. I love it.
Lol thank you! I got the idea after binging the show when I had to quarantine the other week. The batfam would be perfect as first responders, and with the amount of whump in the show, it's sort of a no brainer for me

An Idea That’s Been Brewing Around My Head For A While Now
Stepbrothers Steve Harrington and Gareth Emerson. Steve’s mom finally realizing how much of a dick her husband is and finally divorcing him. Steve being very happy about it but also not knowing what to really do now because he was their main source of income.
Or maybe there’s some real shit there and Steve’s dad dies somehow. Maybe to something upside down related. Idk. Either way— Steve and Cynthia move to the trailer park because Richard is gone.
And Cynthia picks up a new job at the bank and meets Craig Emerson— Gareth’s dad. And they hit off really nicely and Steve is honestly just happy that his moms finally able to be happy again.
Gareth isn’t as open for a while but as he finally meet Cynthia he starts to warm up and is happy that his dads happy.
Until Cynthia and Craig get serious about each other and Steve and Gareth have to meet each other. Then it’s only a matter of minutes until they hate each other.
Well— Steve’s more than ok with Gareth. He’d seen him quite a few times over the summer whenever Eddie Munson would stop by Scoops. But Gareth has a problem with Steve from high school.
But obviously they end up warming up to each other in the end. And it’s a delight to Gareth to find out that Steve carts around 5 kids and keeps in touch with 2 others. He’s like the Ultimate Mom (TM) and Gareth finds absolute joy in teasing him.
And maybe Gareth is dragged into the Upside down with Steve and Eddie and we get a side of Steddie.
Idk. Steve and Gareth being related has me in a chokehold lol

A steddie au but it's just the plot of Meet Cute (2022).
Steve, a young man grappling with suicidal thoughts, discovers that a tanning bed in a nail salon is a time machine. Traveling back 24 hours, he relives the best date night of his life over and over, only to decide that his date, Eddie, needs some fixing. Unaware that meddling with the past could ruin the future, Steve goes even further back in time to turn him into the perfect man and free from trauma -- even though he was already pretty perfect.

So it's not that I'm opposed to an Eddie moves to Texas storyline. It makes sense. He misses his kid and his kid hasn't shown any intent on moving back, so even seeing Chris sporadically would be better than none for a parent.
But it's weird to have a whole episode on Eddie allowing himself to experience joy & starting that growth, to then decide to move back to a place that didn't him happy. This doesn't flow with Eddie's narrative for the season.

Here is part 4! TW for mentions of parental abuse, implied sexual content (very vaguely, condoms are mentioned and Steve laughs at the handcuffs)
---------------
"Vecna? Like the campaign you were writing?" Steve frowned, looking at Eddie for clarification, only to get it from Dustin instead.
"Yes, like the campai- wait a second, you said campaign! And you said Vecna right! You've been pretending to not understand DnD this whole time! Steve, how could you?!" Dustin had a look of complete betrayal on his face, which somehow intensified when Eddie started laughing. Though he wouldn't say it, Steve was grateful that Dustin was here, if only because he was able to make Eddie laugh despite the situation they were in.
"Henderson, he's known me since July, of course he understands DnD by now. Who do you think came up with the tavern scene this campaign?"
"I could have been asking you about DnD for months, Steven-"
"Not my name, Henderson-"
"And you have been acting like you didn't even know the name of the game. I don't know if I can ever forgive you for this." Steve just shrugged, squeezing Eddie's hand before starting to stand so he would stand as well. Robin tried to stand up too fast when she noticed Steve moving next to her and nearly fell over, stabilizing herself against Steve.
"Well, now that we have a name for whatever is causing this, I think we need to get everyone together - or at least as many people together as we can. Dustin, do you have your walkie on you?"
"What sort of question is that? It's like you don't know me at all. Of course I have my walkie." Steve rolled his eyes, motioning for Dustin to get his walkie out of his bag.
"First, can you call Nance? See if she's home, let her know it's a code red and we need a place to plan. If you don't hear back from her, call Lucas and get his location, see if he needs to be picked up." Dustin nodded before stepping outside to contact the rest of the group in Hawkins. "Once we get an idea of where Lucas is and if we can go to the Wheeler's I'm going to drop you guys off there-" Robin quickly interjected.
"What about you? We shouldn't be separating." Steve gave her a meaningful look, tilting his head toward Eddie.
"I'll be coming back here, no way am I letting Eddie stay here alone when he's possibly wanted for murder." Steve turned to Eddie before speaking again. "I'll stop and get us some food. I'm gonna try to get in contact with the guys to let them know what's going on since you definitely missed practice this morning, and see if I can sneak into the park and see Wayne, maybe get us some clothes." Eddie squeezed his hand, giving him a grateful smile. Steve could see in Eddie’s eyes that he was barely keeping it together, focusing on all the information he had been given to avoid panicking.
Dustin walked back in at that moment, finishing his conversation with Nancy.
"Alright, thank you, Nancy. Steve will be driving us, so look out for his car. Lucas said he'll be over in a couple minutes after he showers. Over and out." Dustin looked up at everyone, "Nancy just got home, apparently there was another murder, some guy from the newspaper. Good news about that, Eddie's trailer isn't the only crime scene now so it may be less guarded by cops."
"Okay, that’s sort of good. At least that will make sneaking into the park easier. Alright everyone, grab your stuff, let's go." Steve waited for everyone to leave, Robin shooting him a wink on her way out, before he turned to Eddie and grabbed his other hand. "I'm gonna run those errands, I'll be back in a couple hours at most, okay?" Eddie just tugged him closer so they were holding onto each other.
"I know you'll be back, sweetheart. I'll stay hidden and then we can have a night to ourselves and you can tell me more about your adventures." Steve held onto him for a moment longer, giving one last squeeze before reluctantly pulling away so they could look each other in the eye. Steve's hands moved up to cup Eddie's face in his hands, Eddie's hands still wrapped around his waist.
"I love you." Eddie grinned, and Steve braced himself for what he knew was coming.
"I know." Steve groaned, fully pulling away from him.
"I changed my mind, actually, I hate you, you're awful." Eddie just smiled and grabbed Steve for a quick kiss before letting him go again.
"I love you too, now go, I'll see you soon." Steve smiled, walking backwards to the door, refusing to stop looking at Eddie until he absolutely had to. Grinning, he blew his boyfriend a playful kiss and Eddie, in his usual fashion, acted as if it had been an arrow to the heart, falling to his knees with his hands to the his chest. Laughing, Steve stepped out of the boat house and hurried to his car, still grinning as he climbed into the driver's seat.
"What took so long?" Unsurprisingly, Dustin was bitching and Robin turned in her seat to look at him.
"Dustin, my genius child friend, you do not want the answer to that. I have had to watch them for months, be lucky you haven't."
"Rob, I was just saying goodbye. Sorry if I was reluctant to leave him again after thinking he may have been abducted by a murderer this morning." She just rolled her eyes at Steve as she faced forward again.
"Whatever, let's get going so you can get back here." Steve started the car without complaint and started the drive over to the Wheeler's house.
When he pulled into their driveway, Steve didn't bother getting out of the car with everyone but he did grab Robin's wrist as she opened her door.
"Robbie, I need you to stay safe, and to keep the kids safe, okay?" She gave him a sad little smile, placing her hand over his.
"Dingus, I promise I will keep your children safe-" She kept talking over Steve's complaint that they aren't his kids, "and I'm with Nancy Wheeler, I'll be fine. Now go so you can get back to Eddie. You've been tapping the steering wheel obnoxiously this whole time, so I can tell you're anxious."
"Alright fine, I'll call on my walkie when I get back to Eddie later." She grinned and climbed out of his car. Steve waited for her to be inside before pulling away from the house and driving away, first stop: Gareth's house.
When Steve pulled into the driveway of Gareth's house he could see the guys practicing in the garage, but they stopped when they saw his car. Normally when Steve came to practice he came with Eddie in the van, but they all knew Steve was supposed to be at work today so seeing his beamer was a surprise. When Steve climbed out Gareth was already making his way over, eyebrows creased in confusion.
"Steve? What are you doing here? Eddie said you had work today, and then he never showed." Steve didn't bother answering any questions yet, jumping instead to the important part.
"Have you guys seen the news?" This made Gareth frown more.
"No, why, what happened?"
"Chrissy Cunningham was found dead in Eddie's trailer this morning." Steve watched the blood drain from Gareth's face, he could also hear someone drop something heavy in the garage.
"Eddie wouldn't-"
"No, I know that, we all know that here, but the news had said he was missing this morning. Dustin showed up at Family Video and we went to find him. He's safe, I'm actually doing a supply run right now and then heading back to him." Gareth sighed in relief, leaning against the hood of Steve's car.
"You're sure he's safe?" Steve couldn't tell them the full truth, but he didn't want to lie to them so he went with a half truth.
"As he can be, all things considering. I'm going to try to see Wayne later too so he can know Eddie's safe."
"Good, good. You stay safe too, okay? I like your cookies too much for you to die." Steve had become decently good friends with the guys, especially Gareth, but he knew that none of them were big on emotional moments (Gareth reminded him a lot of Max in that way). Gareth's comment about his cookies, ridiculous as it was, was clearly meant to mean more and Steve just grinned.
"Wouldn't dream of it, Gare. I have a new recipe I've been meaning to try out so I can't kick it until I've made them. If anyone comes looking for Eddie, tell them you don't know anything and he missed practice, okay? Because it was Chrissy, some of the basketball guys may come sniffing around." Gareth nodded and walked closer to Steve to give his shoulder a reassuring squeeze before turning and heading back into the garage. Steve waved at Jeff and Alan who waved back, before getting back into his car and driving off.
After going to the grocery store and buying enough food to last at least a few days Steve headed to his own house. Parking in his driveway he climbed out with all the food and went inside. Steve left the food in the living room and hurried upstairs to his bedroom, grabbing a duffle bag for the food and a backpack for some clothes. He briefly considered grabbing his bat from under his bed but decided against it. Since he was planning to bike to the trailer park and then back to Rick's Steve figured that the bat would look too suspicious. As it was, he was only biking because he knew his car would look too weird sitting at Rick's, so despite the distance he was going to take his bike. Once everything was packed, including the copy of Lord of the Rings that Eddie had been reading to him, Steve went to his garage and grabbed his bike. Thankfully, from years of having to use it to get groceries, there was a big basket over the back wheel that Steve was able to strap the duffle bag into. With his backpack on and everything else secured, Steve locked the house and his car and headed into the woods to go to the trailer park.
He and Eddie had done this trek multiple times, alone and together, so he didn't get lost on the way there. As he broke the tree line, Steve put his bike down, leaning against a tree, and left his backpack with it before starting to sneak around the park to the back of the Munson trailer. Once he got close enough Steve spotted Wayne sitting on a picnic table nearby; seeing no cops, Steve called out to him and started walking closer. Wayne's head popped up when he heard his name and, recognizing Steve, he jumped up with more agility than he should have, hurrying over to pull Steve into a hug.
Wayne had taken to Steve very quickly after he and Eddie started hanging out. About a week after they first met, Steve's parents had come home and it didn't go well for Steve. His parents had been unhappy that he had lost his job, never mind the fact that the mall had burned down, and that the house was a mess, also ignoring his physical appearance.
He had shown up, unannounced at the Munson trailer with a newly bruised black eye and a split lip on top of the still healing Russian injuries. Eddie had opened the door and pulled Steve inside without even asking what happened and started helping clean him up. That was what greeted Wayne when he came home a half hour later with take out: Steve sitting on the couch with Eddie opposite him sitting on the coffee table, carefully cleaning Steve's split lip with a cotton ball while Steve held a bag of frozen peas to his eye. Steve had panicked, and Wayne, because he knew the look in Steve's eyes from Eddie, asked if he needed to spend the night. According to Eddie, Wayne had asked him about their relationship once Steve was asleep, telling him to tie Steve down or he was going to adopt him, because he wanted to make Steve a Munson one way or the other. Wayne had, of course, denied this but it still made Steve feel loved either way.
Steve leaned into the hug, clinging to the back of Wayne's flannel button down and just breathing in the comforting smell of cigarettes and oil that always clung to Wayne. To Steve, Wayne and Eddie and their trailer smelled like home, and standing there, being held by the only currently living man that he saw like a father, Steve felt tears well up in his eyes. Fighting to not cry, Steve spoke softly, his voice strained with emotion.
"He didn't do it, Wayne, I know he didn't do it." Wayne held Steve tighter when he spoke, rubbing his back like he does for Eddie.
"I know, kid, I never thought he did. Have you been to see him? Is he safe?" Steve managed to pull himself together enough to back up a bit, Wayne keeping a grounding hand on his shoulder.
"Yeah, he's safe. I stopped to see the guys too so they know he's okay. I went and bought some food for us, I'm gonna stay with him for a bit. I wanted to grab him some clothes if I could, and let you know he was okay." Wayne nodded, never one for words, but the relief is clear in his face.
"Pigs are all focused on that other kid's murder sight now so I can sneak you in. I got a bag in my truck with some more... incriminating items in it for you to take too." Steve knew exactly what would be in that bag - any of Eddie's ‘work’ related items, all of the clothes Steve leaves at the trailer, and the tapes Eddie deemed the "Steve pile". Following Wayne to his truck he took the bag gratefully and then followed him over to the trailer. They both snuck in the second door, since the main door was covered in police tape, and the second door was right next to Eddie's room.
Stepping in to Eddie's room, Steve could tell Wayne had torn in apart to find any drugs. Eddie's room is normally a mess, but it was messier than usual and things had clearly been moved from their usual spot. Steve did manage to huff a laugh at the still hanging handcuffs by the door and the box of condoms on the bedside table. Quickly, Steve went over to the closet and grabbed a few pairs of jeans, some shirts and then he pulled some underwear and socks from the dresser. He took one last sweeping glance around the room before nodding.
"I think that should be good. Thank you, Wayne. For letting me in here, and for hiding anything that would look bad for Eddie." Wayne pulled Steve into another hug.
"As much as I didn't want to see some of the things I saw while doing it, there was no way I wasn't going to protect my boys. Now you get going, and let our boy know that I never doubted him. You and I both know he's going to be worried I think he's like his old man." Steve nodded in understanding, smiling at Wayne as they left the trailer.
"I'll let him know, I promise." Steve started walking away but was stopped after a few feet by Wayne calling his name, and he turned to look back at him.
"You keep each other safe, got it?"
"Will do, Wayne." Steve gave him a short wave and headed back to his bike. He needed to get back to Eddie.
