The kickstarter for Book of Devotion is now live!

Book of Devotion is an artbook dedicated to clerics, paladins, and the divine beings they worship. I've gotten very fond of the weirdass technocleric I designed, and I'm excited to share more about them (as soon as the mods let me). An adventurous viking and the future Chief from Berk, Hiccup’s dream is to further study the dragons and explore the world. While being hesitant about Guardianhood at first, he’s a natural leader and keeps the team moving through hardships. As innovative technical genius Hiccup relies more on strategies and sometimes his stubborness of wanting to do things his way can even come off as stalling. Hiccup is the Guardian of friendship, symbolised by his bond with his dragon partner Toothless.

Merida

Age: 17-18 Height: 5'4" (164 cm) Home: DunBroch Guardian core: Courage Likes: Archery, horse-riding, adventures, training, sweets, having fun, free days off, story-telling, being a Guardian Dislikes: Nagging, tight clothes, restrictions, customs and traditions, inactivity, being told what to do, her mother's temper

A princess from the kingdom of DunBroch. Out of the four Merida is the first to embrace Guardianhood, seeing it as an escape from her fate at home and her mother’s demands. Wanting to take immediate action she can come off as hotheaded and inconsiderate, but she deeply cares for the well-being of the people and her team. Merida is an excellent archer and a loyal friend, stopping at nothing to help those in need. She’s the Guardian of courage.

Jack

Age: 17-18 Height: 5'8" (175 cm) Home: ??? (Burgess) Guardian core: Fun Likes: Pranks, flying, having fun, facing challenges, snowball fights, honesty, children, having friends and love Dislikes: Mind games, restrictions, friends' suffering, manipulation, being alone, cruelty, the Man in the Moon

Resurrected by the Man in Moon a few years earlier, Jack woke up confused and alone. Due to his distrust at the Man in Moon he also doubts the whole Guardianhood at first. A free spirit, Jack tends to hide his insecurities under jokes but under the bratty behaviour beats the brave heart of a Guardian. Jack possesses ice powers and cannot remember anything but glimpses of his past, making him an enigma. As the Guardian of fun he lightens up the team.

Rapunzel

Age: 18 Height: 5'5" (167 cm) Home: Kingdom of Corona Guardian core: Imagination Likes: Art, house chores, ducklings, adventures, baking, facing challenges, pranks, singing, being able to go outside Dislikes: Being alone, arguments, betrayal, selfishness, boredom, getting confined, dishonesty, wearing shoes

Born with mystical powers, Rapunzel was raised in isolation by her paranoid mother. Spending her days dreaming about the world outside, she’s always harboured love for adventure and embraces the journey. She can appear naive and insecure but in reality is very clever and resourceful. Her positive outlook also helps the team come together, though sometimes she gets frustrated at the bickering group. A great artist, Rapunzel’s the Guardian of imagination.

ENTRY #1: THE DENIZENS J:\\ THE MAKER \\\\

>> Jay. a 5’8, 17 (now 18) year old boy (when he feels like) with tan skin, wearing a black hoodie with a green “87” on it, grey sweatpants, and black shoes, under his hood lies a led visor displaying green animated eyes. He runs an arcade, overseen by a plague doctor suit made out of keyboard symbols, it has a parasitic relationship with his soul that enhances his ego. he runs an arcade as a front to gain more power to cut the strings of fate the gods have cast upon him.

Jay, he found his way into a mysterious world occupied by a lone plague doctor, a beast who wore a mask of violet, the first ever "text doctor", at least, that's what he called himself, the plague doctor made out of... ASCII symbols? His name was Screech (@the-text-doctor), they got to know each other, the beast was wiser, older, had a family and most of all? POWER. Jay eventually stumbled onto a stray portal, and found a dimension with a lone arcade in it. It was empty, abandoned. It was quiet at first. Then the trials began with new technology Jay founded. His suit. A green, distorted form of the plague doctor made of symbols he met from days before. it was a beast forever crying emerald tears.. It took over the dimension. Slowly at first, but then rapidly, the floors turned black, the walls turned a dark shade of green, the arcade grew, seemingly floating. It was all falling into place. J:\\ THE SUIT \\\\ A green plague doctor made out of ASCII symbols, slashes make up his limbs and torso, and tear streaks fall down his mask. His left arm is corrupted heavily, with claws made of black triangles. He also has one corrupted wing made out of corrupted textures and glitch artifacts, on his chest lies a dark green mantle with two mirroring "J"s. His belt is made of square brackets and equal signs. This suit was made a host of the place it is now known for, but also to fight, and fight it does, it would be unwise to pick a fight with it in it's unnatural habitat.

The suit, when worn, made him agitated, angry, violent, egotistical, envious, and any other sense of the words, so much so that it took over his very soul, encasing it in a green hue, and wings, ever since, everyone wanted that exotic, digitized soul for themselves. The Jotette side grade makes Jay feels as if he's the prettiest thing on two legs, still as pyschopathic.

It was perfect for what he needed. He's been researching other worlds for a while, so they were next, but until then? He needed somewhere to cover up his research... the arcade would do just fine. He'd get to lounge around all day, and work on gaining more strength by night. Eventually, he opened the arcade, and attracted quite a crowd. He didn't feel much for them, just lambs to the slaughter, he thought. but eventually he grew fond of some of his visitors, some he loved seeing, some less so. his power grew... but he needed more. He eventually found other worlds, more creatures like his suit, “text doctors” as he calls them, more forms to take, more things to assimilate into his growing matrix of code and hate. J:\\ THE LESSER GODS \\\ In the world of digital evils known only by "EXEs", there lie creatures who couldn't get their hands on the vessels everybody knows them for, Sonic, Mario, Pac-Man, the like. These creatures have been festering inside unknown and uncared for video games, i.e one-off titles or edutainment games. They all think the ranks of Sonic.EXE have it too easy since they have more recognizable vessels, so they've decided to form in gangs of sorts, Jay has felt pity for them, and built a refuge for some of them called Circuitboard City. ENTRY #2: THE DIMENSION, THE BOARDER BETWEEN THE PHYSICAL AND DIGITAL REALMS

J:\\ OUTSIDE \\\\ A vast, black expanse, adorned with grid-patterned green lines and shrouded mountains that conceal Circuitboard City. Green floating stairs serve as the arcade entrance, the space under the arcade leading to an underground subway entry point for access to Circuitboard City.

J:\\ SUBWAY \\\\ The Subway, a dark green and somewhat dirty underground passage, links the arcade to the wonders of Circuitboard City, some Lesser Gods have taken refuge here as opposed to Circuitboard City.

J:\\ CIRCUITBOARD CITY \\\\

helped by @just-hyper-active The cyber-city sprawls beyond the mountains, initially visible like a distant skybox. However, the true nature of this place is revealed when you journey there through the Subway, unlocking Circuitboard City in it's fullest. Jay shelters Lesser Gods amidst the skyscrapers, surrounded by advertisements for JOTA's Arcade.

J:\\ ARCADE INTERIOR \\\\ Inside the arcade, a surreal extension of JOTA's twisted yet whimsical persona unfolds with moving wall patterns and nonsensical floors. Rows of cabinets, a prize corner, and a maintenance room entrance mark the journey. As one ascends towards JOTA's office, the rooms defy Euclidean logic, with unconventional door placements, and other such glitchy mishaps.

J:\\ HALLWAY \\\\ A simple hallway stretching to both the left and right of the office. J:\\ MYSTICS ROOM \\\\ A room where Jay's been studying various deities and other such creatures, such as Zalgo, Screech, and more. This room is to the left of the office hallway.

J:\\ JOTA'S OFFICE \\\\ JOTA's office, a dark green room adorned with silver accents. A faux bird rug lies in the center, and a dark green desk bears a lunatic's scribbles. Nearby stands a simple polygon statue of a pixelated emerald-textured plague doctor. Wall sketches depict a green heart with expansive wings and stylized plague doctors drawn from simple lines and shapes. Above, a mounted skull with a "GAME OVER - JOTAPHOBIA" plaque completes the room.

J:\\ JAY'S BEDROOM \\\\ Jay's bedroom, features a beanbag bed, the sole Sega Genesis in the arcade ever since a run-in with Sonic.EXE himself, Sonic posters, and invisible ink-laden posters of the other text doctors, the Cade Crew, and Jay himself. The dark green room houses a simple stand with drawers, holding obscure games, and a basic TV. This room is to the right of the office hallway.

J:\\ JOTA'S THRONE \\\\ On the main floor, JOTA's throne, a giant green chair, stands amidst corrupted textures and computer parts, adorned with a "GAME OVER" banner. J:\\ SUIT JUNGLE \\\\ Behind the curtains of the throne room lies the enigmatic Suit Jungle, featuring towering, unreachable arcade cabinets and one of them stands far above the rest, displaying myriad copies of JOTA's suit, glaring at whoever roams by, amid twisted metal trees and digital leaves, static falls like water and error messages are the closest thing to clouds, more copies of the suit are found crawling around, acting as birds, glitching green messages, seemingly written by Jay himself adorn the place's floors and walls.

Jay first encountered Sonic.EXE, also known as "X," during an event called Incident X. This voidspawn manifested itself as Sonic and attempted to claim Jay's soul. The encounter took place fashionably late at JOTA's arcade, following the Halloween EXE Takeover in 2023. Since then, X has been engaging in periodic battles with Jay's suit.

X derives pleasure from toying with human souls, leaving Jay concerned about how long he can keep the entity amused before facing potential death. In the aftermath of the incident, Jay discovered the existence of other entities similar to X, collectively referred to as The Lesser Gods or The X Underlings.

Hi! This blog is for my silly and surreal worldbuilding project about an alternate version of our world where clowns are not people but rather a type of anomalous animal and thus are used as pets, entertainers/mascots, and even in agriculture and the meat industry.

If you've been on Tumblr for a while you'll quickly see the connection to Clown Husbandry which is certainly one of my main inspirations. However, I also want to credit Mutatedeye, especially the early work on their surreal webcomic Vertigo's Fun Land for the meatcore horror aspect of this world.

While my project fits within Clown Husbandry, it has distinct worldbuilding that includes an alternate economic history of clown industries, dominated by exploitative megacorporations, and speculative biology elements like clown evolution with a revised phylogenetic tree. The world also features surreal fictional biomes and ecosystems and my original characters, each a clown with backstories representing different aspects of how clowns are treated in this world.

I'm Philip/A/yello. I enjoy writing, art, science, and this is the blog focused on my personal brain worms.

My big brain worm is worldbuilding, and the world you are seeing is the World of All (placeholder name). World of All is placed on a single planet with multiple 'continents' that host independently evolved ecosystems and currently 4,5 sophonts/"aliens". This unique setup is all thanks to the Designers, mindless blobs that have managed to keep their landmasses isolated for billions of years (among other things). As a bonus, some of the blob physical manipulation is left in the sophont creatures' brains who have yet to understand physics on a deeper level.

This is a blog made by Xialite(me) dedicated to my own works about personification of many sorts, mainly countries and non-country landmasses, organisations, and I guess governmental bodies as well lol

A little summary of my personification AU

Its official name is MNUN(My Neighbour United Nations(yes, sounds a little corny I know, this AU was originally made with UN as the central focus)).

This is a personal project, it is not that serious and I’m merely doing this as a hobby.

Personifications are called “Representatives”(Repts for short); they are divided into two main categories:

Territorial Representatives(T-Repts), used to refer to countries and all non-country landmasses(ex. provinces, counties, states, etc).

Non-Territorial Representatives(NT-Repts), used to refer to organisations, corporations, companies, and other bodies that are not considered “territorial”.

T-Repts are made by “Nature”(not a deity nor extraterrestrial entity, but an omnipresent body circulating around Earth, ‘It’ has the ability to manifest entities to represent a certain territory), they’re semi immortal and can only be killed by their own kind.

T-Repts also have their own document describing all about how they work!

NT-Repts on the other hand, are created artificially, with the help of science and life magic, and also a bit of blood willingly given by T-Repts to inherit their semi-immortality. It is still unknown how Nature would feel about their existence.

This AU doesn’t just have personifications, it’s a complete world building project as a whole, as there are presence of magic system, mythical creatures, and generally just wonky stuffs.

There are aliens!! Big feathery aliens!!! They’re called Stellars, They’re looming around the cosmos but don’t seem to cause *direct* harm to Earth just yet, They have been recorded to broken camera lens and orbiting telescopes though. Folks on Earth have such an over exaggerated fear of those creatures.

Each of the Representatives have their own backstories, many are linked to one another, and certain NT-Repts have their own “family” that they belong to.

Common factors of my designs

Territorial Representatives

Most obvious factor is that they look just like normal humans, but plus the fact that they have some features inherited from other animals(usually based on national animals), the said other animals must have the following criteria:

Must be native to the respective regions

Must not be a domesticated animal

The extent of their animal features starts from a bit on their faces, arms, and back, and go full all the way down once it gets to their legs, so to speak, their legs are fully that of their respective animals

Another factor is that they have plants/flowers growing out of their body, those plants have to be native to the respective regions as well. And also, those plants grow roots into their body, and it’s not the most painless thing.

Nails!! Their nail colours usually follow the colour of their flags or colours not on their flags but are commonly associated with the regions themselves.

Non-Territorial Representatives

Overall they have less prominent animal features, or they may not have any animal traits at all.

Their anatomy is, ironically, stranger than Territorial Representatives, they may have additional factors added onto their body, some may not even be biologically possible at all.

Body marks! Those are a signature thing of this type of Representatives. Sure, T-Repts do have a bit of body marks, too, but NT-Repts have taken it to the next level. Those marks typically represent their preferences, aesthetics, and their purposes, some may come in gradients on parts of their body, some may look like tattoos. Oh and they’re also animated.

Certain NT-Repts have shared traits that show which “family” they belong to, for example, NT-Repts that are UN organisations typically has black tattoo-like body marks(unless the Representative is dark-skinned, then it’s white), have halos, and most importantly, all wearing SDGs bracelets.

NT-Repts also have fancy-coloured nails, but the colours are usually based purely on the aesthetic of those folks.

Both types of Representatives

Modified internal organs systems, they do not have proper digestive or respiratory systems, and they do not have reproductive systems at all.

Their eyes can glow!! So can their body marks(sometimes)

i’ve been pondering how to handle transition in my mundane modern aus. bc on one hand this is still vaugarde not earth, but on the other hand part of the appeal of a mundane modern au is giving characters relatable mundane modern problems. so i don’t want utopianly easy transition. but i don’t want to go as far as implanting irl transphobia either, esp since it doesn’t make sense for vaugarde.

BUT! finally had an idea! since these are mundane aus, physical transition Wouldn’t be as easy as in canon vaugarde. but the religion still encourages people to change, and not just once but ideally over and over. so maybe they lean really hard into “you don’t need to physically transition to be valid”? like it’s kinda silly (expensive, inconvenient, physically strenuous etc) to keep getting the same surgeries back and forth, so if the cultural ideal is to possibly transition multiple times, the attitude ends up being “what if it’s just a phase” except they think phases are awesome! like okay yes rn you want to cut your tits off but what if you want them back again later, maybe you just need a better binder for now. or maybe you do get the top surgery and people are like okay fair enough a blank slate! here’s some recs for breast forms if you ever want! etc. genuinely trying to help you be happy with yourself rn, and not entirely opposed to permanent measures, but always pushing the temporary/reversible/neutral options first.

so i get to play with some cultural conflict and accordant practical obstacles when it comes to transition choices. but not the exact same as irl at all, physical transition is still easier and more safe and supported (and social transition still super normalized as in canon), it’s just not entirely perfect. and those imperfections do echo irl problems, and specifically certain sorts of irl queer-friendly or “queer-friendly” discourse. fun!!

This piece is inspired by DA lore crafting through Codices, murals, stylized concept art, and in-universe research like The Grim Anatomy. Another thread is my speculation from Metaphysics of Thedas about the great metaphysical duality being at work in Thedas, one between a supposed Maker and the counter-balancing force known as the Void or primal Silence. Yet another element I used is the visual of the Tree of Porphyry - a type of diagram that medieval philosophers used to classify the universals according to the Aristotelian rules of definition through genus and differentia specifica.

Of course, spirits of Thedas are not classified this way - for what we know, some leading "virtue" types of spirit can be corrupted into "vicious" types of demons if their conceptual nature is compromised or abused. Still, the way we keep learning about the new spirit types outside the crude classification of the Southern Chantry, brings to mind a picture of a tree where spirit types spread out into more and more nuanced variants.

The corners of the picture are adorned with rudimentary depictions of the Forbidden Ones - the four mysterious powerful demons that bear proper names instead of universal names, whose nature seems more elaborate and elusive than the usual single notion assigned to most spirit types. These are: Xebenkeck, harboring an insatiable bloodthirst, whose presence was noted in Kirkwall and might have something to do with the city's history of violence; the still unknown Formless One; the duplicitous Imshael, who manipulates mortals into choices that bring out a monstrous side in their morals; and Gaxkang, a shapeshifting predator luring mortals with a false promise of riches and glory, only to bury the trace of their existence.

fr world building writing exercise

hi everyone, pin here. im giving you homework (should you find yourself in the need to flex some writing muscles) that is semi challenging but should be very fun. (ive done it myself. it is fun i promise)

this prompt is for people who are wanting to develop the lore in their clans but aren't sure where to start or how to go about it. or perhaps you have your lore established but want to build upon it or find an avenue to tell other people about how it works. this exercise will serve as a focus for you to organize your lore and can easily be built upon.

FIRST: watch this 13 min video by V.E. Schwab, author of the Shades of Magic series. It's short and entertaining and she breaks it down better than I can.

TL;DR bullet points:

this prompt aims to design your world with a very intuitive and naturalistic system. give us solid ground to stand on by making your world accessible. theres no need to dictate the minutiae and write yourself into a corner.

when it comes to worldbuilding, there are "door writers" and "window writers."

a door writer writes a door and invites the reader into the world, allowing them to see every detail inside. (if youre a door writer there's nothing wrong with that! but this isnt the prompt for you probably)

a window writer never shows the reader a full view of the world. the world feels broader due to a forced limited perspective, allowing the reader to infer the rest of the world on their own.

by building a world with a limited perspective, you've given yourself an additive creative process to work with. this allows you to add details as you come up with them without directly contradicting what youve previously established.

THE PROMPT:

create a "window" into your clan by picking an element of the world that is load bearing for your lore. food, clothing, music, language, trade export, etc. something you are interested in writing about. focus on this window and how it relates to your dragons. i've found around 250-750 words is a good amount for initial noodling.

Hi! You can call me Gekko. I make art, primarily for my Hollow Knight AU, named Feral PK AU, but you'll also find occasional dragon/dinosaur art or maybe even fanart from other media. I also reblog posts from various other things, so it can get a bit chaotic.

That being said, the AU is the main focus of this blog. It is a slice of life AU for my favorite characters which mostly takes place in Dirtmouth, though over time it also evolved into a personal worldbuilding and character driven project.

AU RELATED DISCLAIMERS/FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

» The AU takes place after the Embrace the Void ending, and so The Knight/Ghost is not present.

» The Pale King's name in the AU is Vyrm (an alternate spelling of Wyrm that he uses as his name), though I occasionally refer to him as FPK. I would prefer if he was referred to with this name. At the current point in the AU he and The White Lady are separated.

» Please keep in mind that the AU originated as something I found comfort in, and it remains that way. There may be inconsistencies, I might retcon things on the go, and some things may simply not be well written. I also have no plans to turn it into a fanfic or a comic.
