It is an old envelope. The words RETURN TO SENDER- PERSON NOT AT THIS ADDRESS are scrawled on it in red marker. The envelope is postmarked JUNE 27th 196- (the last digit of the year is smudged off). Inside is a letter.

Dear Aggie,

I hope you’re getting these, I went down to the post office to ask if there was a forwarding address for mail sent to your old house, but they said they weren’t sure. So I’m trying my best to see if they get through to you now. If you have read my other letters, you’ll know that school here continues to suck. At least Ford is letting me copy his work in class. He says I’d be able to do the work myself if I just got glasses like he did, that way I’d be able to read the blackboard. Yeah right! The day you see Stan Pines wearing glasses is the day Satan goes to work on a snow-plow.

Things are pretty boring without you here though to be honest. I hang out with Ford lots of course, but it’s not the same without you there as well. Ma asked about you the other day, said where that nice Agatha girl was now. Didn’t have the heart to tell her, but I think she knew from my expression. Either that or she really is psychic.

Remember that conversation we had on the beach a few months ago? About how you could join me and Ford on the boat and how we could just sail away from Glass Shard? Well the offer’s still open if you want. You just have to get to here from…wherever you are. I just know we’ll see each other again soon. We have to after all, who’s going to put up with my wisecracks? Ford would go insane!

Aggie and Olive had agreed to help move some things around at the shack. With Soos taking over operations and with more bodies moving into the place, some shuffling of rooms and belongings needed to be done. While moving boxes, Aggie had caught sight of an envelope with her name on it. At first she’s assumed it was a letter that perhaps she had written him back when they were kids (and she was touched by the idea that he’d held onto it) but upon looking further she saw the red message, and noticed the handwriting wasn’t her childish handwriting, but his.

The date sent a painful pang through her chest. She’d already been shipped off by then, enduring orientation and summer classes at St. Milicent’s. The handwriting of the red message makes her feel even worse. David Yearling had very distinct handwriting that even after so many years, she’d know anywhere. Some of the letters sent had been kept and left in her room, but not this one. It makes her sad and furious in equal measure, picturing this letter returning to Stan because of her father’s never ending cruelty.

She couldn’t stop herself from reading it. It was addressed to her after all. She read it once, and then a second time. On her third reading, Olive appeared in the room with another box.

“It’s an old letter.” Aggie said quietly, not looking up. Olive can tell immediately that her grandmother is upset, so she doesn’t pry further, she just moves past her with her box, but Aggie speaks again, “Where’s Stan?” She asks.

“Uhh, I think he’s in the attic.” She says, “That’s where I last saw him, anyhow.”

“Thanks.” Aggie says. Without another word she leaves her granddaughter and heads upstairs. True to her granddaughter’s word he’s in the attic, getting a head start on setting up the lodgings for the twins’ next visit. He turns when she opens the door, but before he can say anything she’s cleared the distance between them, wrapping her thin arms around him. He hugs her back mostly on impulse but he’s definitely confused. She frees him and hands him the letter and takes his hand, leading him over to one of the beds set up for the twins to sit.

She just needed some time with him in that moment, to make it up to the little boy who had the letter returned to him and for the little girl who’d never gotten to read it.

jason's 13 years at the super disciplined camp and several years as a leader of said camp mean it is very unlikely that he is any shade of feral, except for maybe a few minor idiosyncracies that all camp jupiter kids have because they all spent time at the wolf house, but since they all have these traits, they might be considered cultural rather than feral. however, annabeth chase, who was famously left alone until she was seven and was raised by an ancient greek horse man that used to live alone on a mountain, a barely sober god of mental illness, several other mythical beings based on animals, and approximately 37 different traumatized, exhausted, and desperate teenagers at an unregulated summer camp where she learned how to be scary by studying greek monsters, would definitely be somewhere near feral.

Hi Rhi! I really love how you portray the trio—Bokuto, Akaashi, and Kuroo. I appreciate the sense of safety and kindness they bring to the readers, and honestly, they just act so well. I can’t help but wonder—what if they were bullies in high school (like in Mean To The End and Bully), how would that play out? i think their brand is not so much mean spirited or cruel as it is relentless. more about the reaction they garner – the tears, the anger, her blowing up at them in frustration and stomping off – than in breaking her down emotionally or isolating her from her peers

I'm not gonna act like percy doesn't have good reason to be fond of camp half blood but he got bullied and harassed there a LOT. especially during tlt and som and it wasn't just clarisse, like there were nameless campers out there harassing percy over bullshit. percy gained some status to his name after tlt but then he immediately loses it in som because people mock him over having a monster for a brother (not beckendorf tho he was always nice to tyson and percy. god I miss him). and that's so sad because percy was so excited to head back to camp for the summer after being gone for the school year, only to find that he isn't welcome there anymore. this is the same experience percy had at places like yancy academy and any other school where he got bullied and thrown out of, the only difference with chb is that it's a place where he finally manages to make some friends + it makes him feel like less of a freak (i.e. it's a camp full of other "troublemakers" with learning disabilities)

like... percy is so protective of camp but by all accounts chb appears to be a place full of judgmental people who will not treat you right unless they have good reason to think that you're cool/you've proven yourself. sorry for bringing my girl drew into this but like she was treating leo and piper like shit on sight and she was a cabin counselor who was abusing her power and treating her siblings like shit too, and unlike piper they were powerless to fight back. why was that allowed?????? I can only imagine how bad it is/was for the unclaimed/children of minor gods with no designated cabin. thinking about you ethan 🙏

When this war is over, I’m leaving both camps for good.’ Will Solace made a sound like he’d been punched. ‘Why would you do that?’ Nico scowled. ‘It’s none of your business, but I don’t belong. That’s obvious. No one wants me. I’m a child of –’

‘Oh, please.’ Will sounded unusually angry. ‘Nobody at Camp Half-Blood ever pushed you away. You have friends –or at least people who would like to be your friend. You pushed yourself away. If you’d get your head out of that brooding cloud of yours for once –’ ‘Enough!’ Octavian snapped.

I saw a lot of people criticize Will's words and honestly? They are right in a way.

Will was there to witness all the shit that went down between Nico and CHB as a whole,after all he's been at camp for a while it's impossible he doesn't know what happened during those years and why Nico didn't want to be with them. We also need to remember that between TLO and the start of TLH,Nico actually stayed at CHB and lived there for a while before HoO's narrative started. And I already talked about how the campers were probably still shit to him even tho he helped them fighting the war,otherwise Nico wasn't going to be so sure to leave everyone if he did know there were people there for him.

So yeah,Will's dialogue here with Nico is uncalled for,but it's also influenced by his own prospective and feelings (of Nico's situation).

Will liked Nico already,either he had already a crush on him at the time or just because he really wanted to be his friend. The: "You have friends –or at least people who would like to be your friend" can be easily bound to Will talking about himself,because he want to be closer to Nico. And idk probably also some child of a chthonic gods? Maybe Lou or Clovis,since both of them were ok with him when they met him,or maybe Will's siblings since he probably talked about him a lot to them???

Anyway,just already by this,we can assume that Will's prospective of the situation is different from what really happened because he is the only guy that probably tried to be his friend before Nico actually had them. He probably tried to get closer to him with all of his energy but Nico didn't even acknowledge that,or was just too much into his own mind to realized that Will wanted to be friend with him.

When you grow up alone and feared,with only few people to talk to,your mind automatically make you think the people that interact with you do so because of something else,and you often don't know if you are really friends with them or they are only using you for their own things. That's something pretty common and it usually happens when you spent long periods of time alone,without having contacts with someone,and you just start thinking and overanalyze every interaction you ever had with your friends. Low Self-esteem and inability to see your worth,and how important you are in someone's life,helps a lot in this case and only makes things more twisted.

Nico is probably a victim of this,since he doesn't see that some people aren't actually scared of him and want to get to know him (Will,Clovis,Jason and Percy–even tho the last two are a bit controversial). But at the same time the campers made him think that,and even before that it's started with Bianca. This is just a consequence of his trauma and how much people always took him for granted and just wanted to use him (i.e.:Minos) without getting to know him. Sometimes is better than push people away,when you believe they just tolerate you and aren't really there to be your friends.

Will doesn't see that because from his own PoVs,he is trying to get close to Nico while he just push him away. No matter how many times he tries,Nico just won't let him in (until the time-skip between HoO and ToA that's it-) so he was frustrated at that,and at Nico since he didn't want to see his efforts. That's why we have the lines: "You pushed yourself away. If you’d get your head out of that brooding cloud of yours for once–". There is probably an inferiority complex,or just insecurities,at work here but that's a bit of a stretch (probably).

Will's feelings play a big part because he only see the good side of the things,and not the bad ones too. He glossed over all the mistreatment Nico endured because he wanted to be his friend,so he just focused on the bright side of things instead of the negative ones too. Because he didn't want to see the negative side since it would have crashed his view of things.

Also,from what I understood in TSATS that's part of Will's trauma response right? Push everything down and minimize everything until he can't take it anymore because he doesn't know how to cope with everything? Because he doesn't want to acknowledge that some things can't be always black and white,and there is a lot of grey that he needs to accept? Didn't he had a whole conversation with Persephone about this in TSATS??? (Really hope to not be wrong here-).

So,of course he wouldn't see all of the wrong doings because as a person he always try to not give weight to everything and bottle things up,because there are always more importants things to do or people to take care off,until he just...broke under the that pressure.

His prospective of things is wrong because his own trauma and feelings weigh on it. Will was wrong for this,but he wasn't really thinking this logically,while Nico was the victim of it all. That doesn't justify him for what he said,of course,but it gave us an insight of how Will is an unreliable narrator too (even when he was a side character/background character),because his own feelings stopped him from see the reality.

Was it uncalled for? Yes. Was he in the wrong? Also yes. But at the same time he didn't had a clear judgement of the situation,and only focused on the bright side of things. That doesn't mean that dialogue is any better. And honestly? The fact that later on Will try to accpet Nico's nature and how he is,is a good character development for him. He started his interaction with Nico with dismissing the real situation and the trauma he had from it,because he didn't want to see himself part of the problem,to fully understand him and his nature,while working on his own problems and recognizing he was wrong (or at least I fucking hope so when I will read TSATS- And this should have happened during ToA instead of months after they started dating btw-).

"Luke had a crush on Lee." The best thing ever. 10/10. Lee has warmed his way into his heart, but Luke understood it only after he left chb. And there was no way of them getting together anymore because Luke knew that Lee would never leave camp and his siblings behind even under the threat of death.
