Was struck with a truly silly non-serious AU idea in which our resident jailed Great Sage gets befriended by a little gal sometime after Guanyin stops by to inform him of the journey.

She keeps him company until the Tang Monk arrives, by which time she’s a lil wrinkly and, since she has outlived most of the people she knows, Pilgrim Sun decides to bring her along!

Cue old lady grandma shenanigans mixed with classic jttw shenanigans wherein Pilgrim Sun will fistfight yaoguai with a grandma on his shoulders.

I like to think he calls her either great-granddaughter (zēng sūn nǚ) or little sun.

i'm sure someone has pointed this out before but i love how strahm's response to the water cube trap and hoffman's response to the reverse bear trap add yet another parallel to their dynamic - they were both put in rigged traps and only survived because they cheated. they weren't games, there were no instructions or rules, they were just supposed to sit there and die - and they both went no, fuck you, i'm not going down that easy. it's so cool. in a franchise that is supposedly about appreciating your life, what better demonstration of that than two motherfuckers so stubborn they survive the unsurvivable?

honestly kinda sad about the whole tumblr communities thing

like it's cool it's fun but imo it just unnecessarily divides content by having it be One Or The Other. now if you want to look at all the art a person's posted on tumblr, including doodles, you just don't have one place to do that. quick offhand thoughts are no longer available on a person's main blog with the rest of their earlier posts, they're arbitrarily hidden off to the side.

and even worse than being split off, communities are (as of yet) not searchable at all, so anything other than recent posts just gets... lost

you can reblog regular posts to communities but then, yet again, discussion on the post is cut up into two places. you can't see any of the community's comments if you're on the main post, not even as the post creator and not even if you're in that community. idk i really prefer the regular tag browsing system

huge props to the people moderating these things, yall are really awesome, it's just qualms i have with the feature in general
