A rule of thumb I go by as a fic writer, in order to stop myself falling down a research rabbit hole and going mad, is to ask myself "is this how this would work in canon?" before I ask myself "is this how this would work in real life?".

For example. Say I'm writing fic about a crime drama. And I'm like "would this stab wound kill actually someone?". Often times in real life the answer is no. But in the show? It absolutely would, unless it was more dramatic for them to be just fine.

And sometimes it goes the other way, a main character is hospitalised and has been unconcious for several days but I want them to get up immediately and be able start fighting baddies again straight away. Would that be possible in real life? Of course not. But would that happen in the show? Probably, yeah.

#basically bottom line never feel compelled to do more research and be more tied to realism for free than the original writers got paid to do #I mean if you LIKE doing research and being realistic then that's fine too but just don't stress about it

i really do admire how lando tries to not give a fuck (that 'whatever' really saddened me so much) but he actually does, and a lot.

guy doesn't even want anything absurd, he just wants the support of his team for the last fucking 4 races but no... let's just get humiliated for one point on international tv💀.

they're really stretching him thin — and i mean it in a emotional and mental wellbeing way. he is obviously inherently selfless and quite literally does not hold self-esteem, but in the last year we've seen him trying to be more sure of himself and trying to be selfish for once. the moment he does that though, he gets accused of being the spawn of satan. and then the team does everything in the world to make it harder for him.

so i really do admire him, because i literally would PERSONALLY leave the sport after this one season.

he's so much stronger than i am.

we are in a period of time where music is more exciting than its ever been. You are seeing music from all over the world pulling inspiration from hyper specific genres and styles local to like one city and unique blends of genres that just a few decades ago you wouldn't even consider possible. If you aren't keeping up with new music i truly feel like you're missing out on maybe the best music put out in the world period. Things are only looking up too with people in the middle of nowhere being on equal playing ground with some rich kid from LA whos dad owns a record label. Anyone can post music online now and its incredible, music that previously would have lived and died between a small group of people who could experience it locally is now getting posted online and being celebrated for how beautiful and important it truly is. Its wonderful to see.

#theres problems with the state of being paid for your music by huge companies #but the ability to get your music out in the world has never been better #theres also been a renaissance of old music that only got small local vinyl or cassette pressings being shared online to a larger audience
