Swearing at the AI

Hey, here's a fun thing I just learned. You know those obnoxious AI summaries that show up first on mobile Google searches? The ones that are untrustworthy and generally problematic?

I've been just typing in "-ai" to get searches without those, but I've heard that Google is going to disable that soon. Whether that's true or not, there's a much funnier way to avoid those summaries.

The Google AI system doesn't like ye olde F-word, for reasons that I'm not going to question. Have two screenshots:

(NEW?) TUMBLR TAGGING PSA:

heads up, folks! it looks like - EVEN AND ESPECIALLY ON YOUR CUSTOM BLOG VIEW!!! - tumblr only counts the first twenty tags! on a post! after this, the post won't show up in that tag, not even on your blog

so if you have a personal art tag but you put it at the bottom of the post under all of the #switch #nintendo #mario #bros #64 etc etc etc bloat tags, it doesn't work.

please put your most relevant tags first! having an art tag that doesn't have all your art posts in it is basically useless, after all

there used to be a saying that tumblr search only counted the first five tags on a post, which is why crosstagging for reach was pointless. tumblr has since updated to count twenty tags - at a cost. any tags after #20 apparently do not show up in that tag on your own blog.

i found this out because i was looking at someone's cool mario 64 art project, and because they put the tag for the project at the very bottom of their tags, the final post NEVER showed up in their tag for the project when i was browsing it ON THEIR BLOG (very different tumblr behavior than it used to be years ago!). i did finally stumble on the final post of the project, thankfully, and realizing what happend, i started counting. tumblr counts the first 20 tags, but tag #21 and all after are useless.

When I went to the recalls link, it asked if I wanted to sign up for email notifications about food recalls. I don't know if that counts as an announcement or not, but I signed up.

Just an FYI. The FDA is not allowed to announce any food recalls due to the health communications pause the current administration enacted. You can still find this information by visiting USDA the site directly.

seeing unsure newer cr fans as the older cr fans are excited so: yall will be ok. finale episodes are always an incredible spectacle and party stories arent ever finished just because the specific plot their campaign centered around is over. soon yall wont really have a thought in your head about the fandom discourses and worries that plague your first touch with a campaign finale. soon c3 will be wrapped in nostalgia and you might fight urges to bully c4 fans as past campaign fans bother you - learn not to listen to that urge. literally no one really cares about wrap ups or any discourse around them in time - c2 wrap up was very unorganized. do people care now? no. and it will most likely be the same here. take a deep breath. dont look at the wide net of takes next thursday and just enjoy it on your terms - this is the best advice i can give. having once been a newbie to this who also enveloped myself in belief of the worst theories about how things could go - it's a phase you will phase out of in time and find silly later as you see the cycles of campaign discussion repeat.

i was in the middle of writing a completely unrelated post when i remembered this, but with how common it is to poke fun at click clack for being dense as fuckkkk when it comes to thespius (because they are) i feel like it's easy to forget that thespius was so bad at confessing that he had to write a whole stage serial about it. like there's a reason he's the one who states the moral of the entire game at the end of the hobbyhoo chapter (i.e. "i guess when two people don't communicate things can get really out of hand" or something to that effect), that being that as whimsical as creating a series of plays to covertly confess your undying love to your creative partner is, it's not a replacement for talking one on one. it takes two to tango and these fellas have been tangoing till they're sweaty and out of breath and red-faced and. hm. y'know. maybe i should stop this analogy here.

anyways my point is that lovestory is less "guy who is book smart but emotionally dense x Absolute Perfection in humanoid form" and more "guy who is book smart but emotionally dense x guy who is emotionally intelligent but a bit of a people pleaser" and that's exactly why it's so fun to explore despite being a pretty straightforward canon ship.

Since the whole thing with NaNoWriMo has gone down, I've noticed that one of their former sponsors, Ellipsus, has cut contact with NaNoWriMo because they do not support their stance on AI; I didn't know what Ellipsus was, but upon further research I've found that they are a writing platform that works a lot like Google Docs and Microsoft Word, only with a heavier leaning on the story-writing aspect and connecting with other writers - and they also completely denounce any use of AI, both in the writing process itself and in the use of their platform. I really appreciate that.

Since this is the case (and since I've noticed Google has begun implementing more AI into their software), I've decided to give Ellipsus a try to see if it's a good alternative to Google Docs (my main writing platform). It's completely free and so far, I've found it simple to use (although it is pretty minimal in its features), and I really like the look of it.

I figured I'd spread the word about this platform in case any of you writers would want to give it a try, and if you do, let me know how you like it!
