I am honestly so tired of seeing people talk about how they are going to move to a new country or ask for advice on how/where to move bc of the current administration. I understand it's bad but also. You're not going to actually move. You probably can't afford it. You might not be legally allowed to immigrate if you're disabled in literally any way. You don't qualify for asylum just because hrt was banned in your state. The place you want to move to probably isn't actually as safe as you think it is. Please consider supporting some local organizations working to make your community better instead of daydreaming about flying away to a magical world where everything is already perfect

All the devils' dances and dragons dance together at the end of the correfoc held in Sant Pere de Ribes (Penedès, Catalonia) before its festa major (Catalan holiday that each town/city celebrates on the day of its patron saint).
A correfoc (meaning "fire run" in the Catalan language) is an event held as part of a town, city or neighbourhood's festa major festivity, usually celebrated a few days before the feast day itself. On the day of the festivity and its eve, the traditional dances from the town will dance on the streets, including the fire dances like the Devils' Dance and the fire bestiary. But for the correfoc, the devils' dances, the dragons and other fire bestiary from the near towns are invited as well, each one accompanied by their drummers. All these fire beasts and devils dance on the streets of the host town. In some towns it's treated as a game where the people have to run faster than the fire dancers or dodge the fire. In some places like Ribes (this video) they all light up for one last song together in the same square.
Video by Drac de Sitges. The song is "Nanu" by the local band Bugies.

Pristineanis major Mayr & Kitchener, 2024 (new species)
Tumblr media
(Type tarsometatarsus [fused ankle and foot bones] of Pristineanis major [scale bar = 5 mm], from Mayr and Kitchener, 2024)
Meaning of name: major = larger [in Latin]
Age: Eocene (Ypresian), 54.6‒55 million years ago
Where found: London Clay Formation, Essex, U.K.
How much is known: A left tarsometatarsus (fused ankle and foot bones).
Notes: P. major appears to have been closely related to piciforms, a group of birds that includes woodpeckers and toucans. Unlike in modern piciforms, the outermost toe on each foot of P. major was probably not fully reversed, but could be rotated into a backward-pointing position. As its name suggests, P. major was larger than the other known species of Pristineanis, P. minor (the type species, also from the London Clay Formation) and P. kistneri (from the Eocene of the western United States, formerly classified in the genus "Neanis").
Reference: Mayr, G. and A.C. Kitchener. 2024. The Picocoraciades (hoopoes, rollers, woodpeckers, and allies) from the early Eocene London Clay of Walton-on-the-Naze. PalZ advance online publication. doi: 10.1007/s12542-024-00687-9

Finally made a lineup of the four main characters of Astra, a video game me and @famulusmox are developing— You play as Astra, the newly appointed royal jester, in a medieval sci-fi world. Your goal is to kill the king in revenge for the execution of Astra’s mentor in about one week (and steal his girl) (and man) in the process!

Rehearsal for festa major. Video shared by Món Casteller.
In Tarragona (Catalonia), there is the tradition that on the day after festa major (traditional Catalan holiday celebrated in each town or city on their patron saint's day), which in Tarragona is celebrated on September 24th, the four castellers groups of the city go up and down the stairs in front of the city's cathedral doing a pilar and continue walking the pilar through the down-hill street until they cross all the Font square near it. The whole process is about 500 meters and takes each group an average of 10 to 15 minutes to do.
Castellers are the Catalan tradition of doing "human towers", which can have many people on each layer or floor. A pilar is when the "tower" only has one person on each floor, like you can see in the video. In this video, you can see the group Colla Castellera de Sant Pere i Sant Pau practising going down the stairs in front of the Cathedral.
