I am so passed April fools cause life hard and busy but I hope we're still in a silly mood ;;v;;
Tumblr media
(very belated) April Black Butler Animo Black Arts Magazine- Ciel Dies.
I really needed to participate in this months mag for 2 reasons, 1) because I missed doing last months mag even though the prompt that I had pitched since day 1 of me joining (wild west) was finally selected... and I didn't even get to participate. so I'm bummed. and 2) because I actually also am mostly responsible for conceiving this prompt and I am proud of myself(as well as everyone else who participated hahaaa) for having an idea. so yes.
I also got to do the cover this time.

last couple days the question "what do I want to eat" elicits only an amorphous desire for saltiness so today's breakfast is salted grain mush. Melt butter, stir in flour+salt, stir in hot water from the kettle, yum. It's like the first step of pâte à choux which is also delicious.

Etymology of ‘flour’
"finer portion of ground grain," mid-13c., from flower (n.), and maintaining its older spelling, on the notion of flour as the "finest part" of meal, perhaps as the flower is the finest part of the plant or the fairest plant of the field (compare French fleur de farine), as distinguished from the coarser parts (meal (n.2)). Old French flor also meant both "a flower, blossom" and "meal, fine flour." The English word also was spelled flower until flour became the accepted form c. 1830 to end confusion. Flour-knave "miller's helper" is from c. 1300.

My parents were obsessive about having whole wheat everything and only cooking brown rice when I was a kid, which sucked because I never liked either of those very much (well, whole wheat stuff has grown on me, but it's kind of a moot point now, isn't it) but I'm actually really enjoying stuff made from whole grain cornmeal and oat flour now that gluten is off the table. I'm pissed that it took literally being medically forbidden from eating wheat to find whole grain foods I like, but...better late than never I guess
