Saw some people talking about things they would be fakeclaimed for, and thought I'd share some things I actually HAVE been fakeclaimed for before
Because I've been open about being a system for 4+ years, and had a good portion of that time where I had a tendency to get in stupid arguments online- which, when people are in stupid internet arguments, some of them have a tendency to pick on unrelated shit
So!
Things I've been fakeclaimed for:
The way my OSDD-1 diagnosis is written on my records was "too vague" (It's written as 'dissociative disorder otherwise specified... you know, the words the OSDD acronym stands for)
I didn't specify if I "have -1a or -1b" (those aren't diagnosis in the DSM, they are labels, that I prefer not to use because I don't feel they fit me)
I wasn't strictly anti endo
"Maybe you're just having a spiritual experience and have memories of past lives like me" (I do have spiritual beliefs related to my plurality but... if it was just that, I would not be qualified for a diagnosis, there's other criteria than just that part)
I defended someone else who was accused of faking
I had "weird pronouns" in my bio (kit/kits, at the time)
I was originally diagnosed at 15, and, according to that person, it's "unprofessional/bad for someone to diagnose that before 25" (not their exact wording but pretty much what they were saying)
And of course, last but not least, openly having introjects and not being a 'smaller' system

So, we've been thinking about this a lot, and debating whether or not to post about it, but fuck it, we're gonna say it.
If someone tells us they experience something, we're going to believe them. Who the fuck are we to tell them what they do or don't, can or can't experience. We're not them, we don't know their mind, their feelings, their personal experiences.
[This is primarily about syscourse, in case that wasn't obvious, but applies to a shite load of other things that are commonly targets of discourse.]
If someone tells us, "I am a system, my system formed without/ unrelated to trauma," or "My orientation is complex, these labels may contradict each-other, but they best describe my experience," or "There's a disconnect between what I am according to my brain and what I am according to society / 'real life,'" or-- Alright pal, thanks for sharing, we believe you.
Obviously, there's certain things that we have problems with, there's some whacky-ass shit that people will claim that we just can't get behind. However, we can disagree with how they label it, how they go about presenting it to the world, without claiming that they couldn't possibly ever experience that thing, because how the fuck do we know what's going on with them? We don't.
Existence is fucking weird, brains and minds are fucking weird, so obviously there's going to be people who are just fucking weird - hey, we're definitely pretty fucking weird. So when others tell us about their fucking weirdness, we're gonna believe them. Simple as that.
[For the love of puppies, please don't go in the comments/reblogs going "what about XYZ," or stir shit. This is just our personal opinion, so take that with a grain of salt and leave us alone, yeah?]
#syscourse#discourse#endo safe#actually plural#anti harassment#we're neither 'pro' nor 'anti' [endo] for the record#“do you believe endo systems exist?” who's to fucking say? not us and not you either; why not just leave them alone#i can barely validate my own plurality to myself most days; i've got my own shit to worry about#we would say they're not hurting anyone but that's not entirely true; sometimes some people just suck#but honestly that applies to both sides about just about any of this stupid online discourse shit#.: royal rambles#really fucking blurry idk who's ranting but we've got many feelings right now yo

Me, 4 years ago: Boy, I sure love the song "Guitar Hero" by Amanda Palmer! But I can never clearly hear what it is she shouts in this one segment - I'll just look it up real quick!

[it was the n-word]
#original#amanda palmer#dresden dolls#and that's why I can pinpoint the exact moment in time I stopped looking up to Amanda Palmer#she's a white lady there is no excuse. cartoonishly 'white feminism' nonsense.#it is additionally bizarre bc it has nothing to do with the song. like there's nothing she could have done to justify it but it's#so nakedly just for flavor. racist racist flavor. i was fucking horrified#it is one thing to make art exploiting your own trauma but to be white and to exploit black trauma in your art is such fucking garbage#like I don't think that when someone makes tasteless art about abuse we should demand that they out themselves as an abuse survivor#but something fuckin tells me Amanda Palmer has never experienced anti Black racism#and it's really hard to give her the benefit of the doubt that she's approaching art about other people's trauma in good faith + w/ respect#when she clearly thought this was just... funny? cool? i have no idea what. i mean talk about losing a role model in 5 seconds flat!#imagine being white and saying the n word and then recording yourself in a song saying it and releasing a music video for that song#at least the other racists have a good sense not to record themselves saying it Jesus Christ what a stupid thing to do#how often are you using that word that you felt like it was time to put it in a music video?? I often have trouble hearing lyrics#but usually i work them out from context clues. I never caught this one bc it has no context#and bc I truly believed she was better than that so it never even occurred to me. like all of her edgy artsy bullshit was not fun anymore

Non-Britons! Instead of being distracted by the pomp and fanfare of the coronation, here’s a reminder that:
The coronation was funded by tax-payer money. This same tax could have gone towards the cost of living crisis. People are starving and freezing to death as this is going on.
Protests (peaceful or otherwise) are illegal now. A lot of anti-monarchists are being arrested for simply holding signs.
Our government is currently trying to push through a revision to the Equality Act that will exclude trans and non-binary individuals.
Oil companies have made a record profit in the past couple of years. Oil and gas prices aren’t rising because of an inflation issue.
Our NHS is crumbling because funding is going to stupid projects like this coronation.

Okay, I had a really cute idea, now okay, we know Shen Yuan was rich and all that pre-transmigration. And that he had two elder brothers and a younger sister. And that the older brothers managed the family business (can't remember if that's canon or fanon but it's true in this situation)
BUT. WHAT IF. the family business was an idol agency. Shen-dage is the CEO, Shen-erge is like the manager, he wrangles the backstage crews and label, and Shen-mei is of course, the star idol because of course.
Now I can't decide if Shen Yuan would be an idol alongside Shen-mei, or like a creative director.
We know Shen Yuan is a god-level poser, so he'd do GREAT at either (not to mention he's not stupid, or incapable, it's just in canon his denial skills are maxed out)
The media would love them.
There are dozens of compilations of 'Shen-mei and Shen Yuan being chaotic siblings for 17 minutes straight' and "top ten times Shen Yuan entered protective brother mode"
"Shen-mei cries ON STAGE and Shen Yuan comforts her!!!"
Let's not talk about the edits. Or the fanfiction. Or some of the signs that people bring to concerts. Or the fancalls.
Now imagine, they finish a global tour and all the Shens are bullied into taking time off by their staff. Shen Yuan, with nothing to do, decides to do something completely frivolous because 'who says I can't relax?? Take that!' and so he starts reading a novel.
The novel.
Twenty days later and Shen Yuan has sent more hate than all of his anti-fans combined. He has used words even his most inspired fanfiction writers would blush at.
And he dies and all that, yadda yaddah ya.
ANYWAY, imagine the fluff and the shenanigans. Both post and pre-transmigration
Airplane-bro starts humming a song and Shen Yuan's muscle memory possesses him.
Shang Qinghua: Cucumber-bro you must've been a diehard Shen-mei stan!!! That choreo was perfect
Or, OR that's how they both realize they're transmigrators.
(Airplane: 'i dont remember writing Shen-mei into pidw??? And why does Shen Qingqiu know the choreo??? Wu Yanzi what were you teaching him???)
Pre-transmigration Shen Yuan helping his little sister with recording harmonies and backup vocals.
And the outfits?. Need I say more?
#i dont know a lot about idols and the like but#do you see the vision#svsss#svsss au#shen yuan#proud immortal demon way#pre-transmigration#shang qinghua#shen qingqiu#cumplane#airplane bro#cucumber bro#shenanigans#wu yanzi

One thing I wish more people understood is that being religious and believing in science are not mutually exclusive.
Throughout all of recorded human history, including over the course the last century, some of the most important scientific advancements came from religious people and religiously funded institutions. Often it was Jews and Muslims leading the charge of scientific progress, but despite what you might think: it was also Christians and Catholics (both separately and alongside each other).
An example of these contributions (though there are many more) is that in Medieval Europe, erroneously referred to as "the dark ages", the Church heavily funded scientific research; in fact, they were one of the only bodies in the region that had the kind of money to put into something like science on a major scale.
The idea they are two things that cannot coexist comes from the "enlightenment", and then later Victorian era, which sought to frame people in that past as inherently stupid and inferior.
More recently, a trend towards fundamentalism and anti-science rhetoric, found on the fringes of many religions, is used by antitheists to reflect poorly on religious people as a whole. The many more religious people who are able to make science syncretic with their religious beliefs just aren't deemed interesting enough to make the news or entertaining enough for a non-religious audience to challenge in debates.
Atheism is not more compatible with science than theistic belief is.

I need to elaborate on that last post actually because I get how “you guys should be used to feeling shitty about your art which also means you should be fine with AI art being a thing” sounds. Im only saying that because alot of people went from reasonable takes like being honest about being worried about losing work or being worried about their work being used to train AI and what that might look like to like “art is a beautiful thing that should only be created by human hands” type shit. It very quickly began to feel like people were upset about not feeling like Unique Special Humans or some shit and it got so fucking weird
#You think digital artists wouldnt be like 'its MEANINGLESS without the CRAFT' but#that take was everywhere and still is. Its really strange stuff to say#I know Ive been complaining about this for forever but I still think theres enough good arguments against AI art without getting to#Its SOULLESS its MADE BY A MACHINE I can ALWAYS TELL ITS MADE BY THE MACHINES#Because it is UGLY because theres no PERSON BEHIND IT#Its still weird to me 3D artists and digital artists were saying that shit. That is literally how people talked about us like#basically until the second AI art started to become the big new thing to call a AFFRONT TO GOD#Like for the record it IS different I know that but I still think we can point out the actual problems#instead of falling back on sounding like right wingers who hate modern art#If your anti AI art takes sound like somebody who thinks piss christ is stupid you gotta reword it. DP x DC AU: Tim had heard the phrase 'The wrong twin made it home' a number of times in his life, his parents were always very upfront about how the felt towards him. But... 'made it home' doesn't indicate death, does it? ...Tim ends up taking Danny's place by Sam's side in front of Congress to lobby the end of the Anti-Ecto Acts.
...
Tim has been up for hours passed when he told Alfred he would be resting and he's wrapped up his case files into neat little bows to deliver to Babs and the GCPD/Lawyers to do their jobs. Damian had made a comment earlier in their patrol that night about Tim being the wrong sibling to make it to his rescue and... and it got him thinking about that phrase. His parents were negligent with him, certainly, but they were always very clear about how he stood in their eyes. Praise and criticism were the two options, and very strictly limited passes of 'I love yous' that faded as he got older.
He's run his DNA before in the national databases- it was critical for maintaining his Alias' that multiple people didn't flag- but he's never searched in records before. About his twin. About the one who didn't make it home.
And its definitely the lack of sleep, and definitely the lack of brotherly affection he feels these days, but Tim just can't close the door until he's seen a death certificate. He's hacked Gotham General Hospital a million times for work, but doing it for his own gain feels wrong some how and he works with extreme caution. He finds his own birth certificate and... One Theodore Daniel Drake.
Tim snorts with a short ha, pretentious name alert and goes on to find not a single certificate of death or medical record of atypia. Oh no, what he finds is adoption paperwork meant to be closed to all wondering eyes and one Daniel James Fenton leaving the hospital instead. Tim blinks a few times, retraces his steps and then sure enough, learns for a second time that his TWIN was still alive.
Finding the Fentons was easy enough, their Lab address on all of their patents was seemingly also their home address. Danny had a much better hidden internet presence, it was good cybersecurity he'd have to praise him, but Tim had been trained better. Getting into his brother's files... Raised a number of new questions. Why was he compiling evidence against the government? What the fuck was he doing analyzing policy? Why did he have 'rogue' files???
Then Tim hacks into Danny's phone (he's learned at this point that Daniel was a no-go) and sees the conversations between his twin and his twin's best friends.
Sam Manson has an appointment with a Senator to Lobby for the end of the Anti-Ecto Acts. She wants Danny to join her, demonstrate something Tim can't determine, but he's refusing to leave and let his adoptive parents have even a moment to develop a new weapon without him there to destroy it. Someone called CW warned him about changes coming his way or something cryptic. Tim learns a lot from their back and forth, but stops reading once it gets to their personal squabbles.
Tim gets the meeting details and forwards it to Tam- If Danny can't make it... Tim will. And if Tim can't demonstrate whatever Danny was going to, it would at least help to throw around his name.
Tim writes an email to Danny- It's meant to go out after the lobbying appointment- and it explains that Tim found out about him and wants to connect if Danny does, and if Danny doesn't he at least wants to get him set up with his half of the Drake family inheritance. He includes a few personal facts, including that he too ended up adopted in life and had siblings, that he helped run a company and took on the world too soon. It takes a lot out of Tim to be so candid- but he doesn't want Danny to be too blindsided by the Waynes. He attaches a family photo with the label "you'll be able to tell which one is me'.
...
Sam is tapping her stupid, uncomfortable heels waiting for these dumbass, elderly politicians to get their shit together so she can speak. Sam was resourceful and surprisingly, the second she took on politics as a way to waste the family money, her mother Pamela was all for it. She's wanting Sam to run for president now... At least she doesn't complain when Sam organizes protests.
The door behind her opens, and while she knows its not going to be Danny behind her, a girl can feel a bit crushed. She really thought he would be behind her today, but Danny was being weird about this whole thing. Clockwork had him spooked about something changing today, and Danny wanted to be in Amity Park in case it was another Pariah situation or something. His parents had been on edge lately too...
"Sorry, I'm not late am I?" A voice asks and it's just so close but not- Sam turns her head to see Danny in a nice suit with long hair and eyebags way darker than she'd seen on him in a while. This... Wasn't Danny. She blinks, and then something in her anxiously decides that the universe is fucking with her and she will be fighting back.
"Everyone is late." She glares at him, appraising his every move. The woman behind him is typing dedicatedly on her tablet and the man himself looks like he might fall over while he shuffles his files in hand.
"Well, then I'm on time. My name is Tim Drake, I'm here to help your cause in getting the Anti-Ecto acts repealed and the parties responsible for it apprehended."
"Tim Drake? As in-"
"As in Co-CEO of Wayne Enterprises. And I've done a lot of research, so I hope you'll let me play a supportive role while you speak."
"There's no way you've been able to research if you've been out of Amity, The whole city is under a media blackout." Sam's glare looks like it could cut him.
"Not to brag, but that sort of thing doesn't slow me down these days. I've made physical copies of the things they're most likely to delete and I've sent everything to the Justice League, who in turn are sending it to the Lantern Corps." He states matter-of-factly and Sam finally stops being angry at the world to just be... stumped. What the hell was going on?
"How did you... Why?"
"Tam, tell Ms. Manson how passionate I am about human rights?" The guy sounds anxious, the woman rolls her eyes and says "Very." without stopping her typing.
The doors open and Sam has only a moment to decide that Tim can join her... He proves himself to be an asset, and his name alone gets them further than she had anticipated getting today.
....
Danny is watching Sam walk into the space via C-span, gasping when his own likeness follows behind her. What the fuck???
He can barely drag his eyes away as the clone (?) introduces himself as Tim Drake and proceeds to rip them into shreds for delaying Sam Manson of all people. Danny is transfixed and Tucker is blowing up his phone.
"DUDE ARE YOU SEEING THIS?" Tucker's voice loudly calls out the second danny blindly answers.
"Dude, I just, I don't even know? He cant be a clone right? But he's gotta be?" Danny hypothesizes.
"Nah dude, there's like, a whole lifetime of media presence for Tim Drake since he was like, tiny. This is so weird he looks just like you..."
"This is so weird." Danny dumbly agrees because he can't think of anything else to say.
Sam finishes her points, Tim submits the evidence to the court and they leave. Danny's phone pings with an email notification.
"Danny my guy, you should check that, Sam isn't responding yet. Her phone is probably still off."
He follows Tucker's advise and opening his email... Is a new message from Tim Drake.
"...I don't know what the fuck is going on?" Danny continues to say, and Tucker asks him just to read it out loud, "It's just... Apparently I am both adopted and a twin?"
"...My guy." Tucker sounds just as much at a loss.
...
Sam calls them both after Tim Drake is rushed away by his PA Tam (who she found herself admiring more and more), and is relieved when they dont immediately answer by screaming.
"So Danny, Tucker, you guys are traveling with me next weekend." Sam deadpans.
"Apparently shit gets twilight-zone level weird anytime you leave Amity!" Tucker exclaims.
"...What's next weekend?" Danny asks, hesitation in his voice.
"Your twin invited us, well, mostly you, to a Wayne Family Brunch. We're going cause those assholes have money and political influence, you're going because we all probably need to know what the fuck is going on with that guy."

I’m wondering if you have thoughts on James Baldwin’s “open letter to the born again”? I’m struggling a bit with what his point is in that piece; it feels kinda dismissive on Jewish zionists agency in creation of Israel? But I may be missing parts or not getting things
The text in question.
And the segment I think anon is struggling with:
I know what I am talking about: my grandfather never got the promised “forty acres, and a mule,” the Indians who survived that holocaust are either on reservations or dying in the streets, and not a single treaty between the United States and the Indian was ever honored. That is quite a record.
Jews and Palestinians know of broken promises. From the time of the Balfour Declaration (during World War I) Palestine was under five British mandates, and England promised the land back and forth to the Arabs or the Jews, depending on which horse seemed to be in the lead. The Zionists—as distinguished from the people known as Jews—using, as someone put it, the “available political machinery,’’ i.e., colonialism, e.g., the British Empire—promised the British that, if the territory were given to them, the British Empire would be safe forever.
But absolutely no one cared about the Jews, and it is worth observing that non-Jewish Zionists are very frequently anti-Semitic. The white Americans responsible for sending black slaves to Liberia (where they are still slaving for the Firestone Rubber Plantation) did not do this to set them free. They despised them, and they wanted to get rid of them. Lincoln’s intention was not to “free” the slaves but to “destabilize” the Confederate Government by giving their slaves reason to “defect.” The Emancipation Proclamation freed, precisely, those slaves who were not under the authority of the President of what could not yet be insured as a Union.
It has always astounded me that no one appears to be able to make the connection between Franco’s Spain, for example, and the Spanish Inquisition; the role of the Christian church or—to be brutally precise, the Catholic Church—in the history of Europe, and the fate of the Jews; and the role of the Jews in Christendom and the discovery of America. For the discovery of America coincided with the Inquisition, and the expulsion of the Jews from Spain. Does no one see the connection between The Merchant of Venice and The Pawnbroker? In both of these works, as though no time had passed, the Jew is portrayed as doing the Christian’s usurious dirty work. The first white man I ever saw was the Jewish manager who arrived to collect the rent, and he collected the rent because he did not own the building. I never, in fact, saw any of the people who owned any of the buildings in which we scrubbed and suffered for so long, until I was a grown man and famous. None of them were Jews.
And I was not stupid: the grocer and the druggist were Jews, for example, and they were very very nice to me, and to us. The cops were white. The city was white. The threat was white, and God was white, Not for even a single split second in my life did the despicable, utterly cowardly accusation that “the Jews killed Christ’’ reverberate. I knew a murderer when I saw one, and the people who were trying to kilI me were not Jews.
But the state of Israel was not created for the salvation of the Jews; it was created for the salvation of the Western interests. This is what is becoming clear (I must say that it was always clear to me). The Palestinians have been paying for the British colonial policy of “divide and rule” and for Europe’s guilty Christian conscience for more than thirty years.
Finally: there is absolutely—repeat: absolutely—no hope of establishing peace in what Europe so arrogantly calls the Middle East (how in the world would Europe know? having so dismally failed to find a passage to India) without dealing with the Palestinians. The collapse of the Shah of Iran not only revealed the depth of the pious Carter’s concern for “human rights,” it also revealed who supplied oil to Israel, and to whom Israel supplied arms. It happened to be, to spell it out, white South Africa.
Well. The Jew, in America, is a white man. He has to be, since I am a black man, and, as he supposes, his only protection against the fate which drove him to America. But he is still doing the Christian’s dirty work, and black men know it.
My friend, Mr. Andrew Young, out of tremendous love and courage, and with a silent, irreproachable, indescribable nobility, has attempted to ward off a holocaust, and I proclaim him a hero, betrayed by cowards.
For context: Andrew Young, considered the right hand of MLK Jr, had a longstanding and occasionally fraught relationship with the Jewish community. He stepped down from Congress shortly after being forced to choose between voicing support for Palestine and continuing to work towards black-jewish interests by his constituents and fellow politicians, as he felt very strongly about supporting both. This was a fairly unpopular move. While I don't believe he ever called himself Jewish by the strictest sense, he was actively involved in Jewish communities and the known "white" ancestry within him is a Polish Jew in his great grandparents.
To be honest, I don't really see much a problem with this as I think it fairly closely matches up not only with my understanding of the history of this problem but also my own country's part in it as well as my personal feelings on it decades later. It pretty blatantly says that Zionism is utilizing a machination of white supremist colonism due to the extensive history of antisemitism and having had the ancestral land dangled in front of them like bait on a hook from the British Empire, which owned Palestine at the time. It also goes on to say that many Zionists aren't even Jewish and are antisemitic in nature, but are Christians happy to get rid of as many Jews as possible and how that tracks due to the Christian church's millennia-deep history of antisemitism.
I don't think it lets anyone off the hook. I think it pretty much flat out says this is a problem caused first and foremost by white Christians who hate Jews and Arabs alike and have a vested interest in getting the two populations to fight because it'll be easier to kill off just the one group instead of both of them, if one ends up eradicating the other. It even talks about the friction between the black community and the Jewish community, what caused it, what drives it, how that friction in itself is a tool of white supremacy to hurt us both.

Context on Project Moon discourse
I did some digging and watched some internet slapfights between Korean users, and collected as much context as humanly possible, trying to avoid hearsay where I can:
Misogynistic dudes start complaining about how sexless and non-waifu-female-heavy the game is, feeling the skimpy Sinclair outfit with the thotty little collar VS the fully covered Ishmael outfit is pointed feminist jeering (a law Hawkeye Initiative). Korean anti-feminists are really sensitive to pointed feminist jeering. More on that in a bit
Upon learning the identity artist is male, they trawl the rest of the staff to prove their stupid-ass theory.
They latch onto the lead CG artist, who has tweeted about feminism before.
Project Moon receives countless threats and people marching on their office IRL demanding to speak to the CEO.
The resulting hate campaign leads to Project Moon firing the lead artist for violation of contract; it was specifically requested by the company that all users delete political statements and controversial topics before joining, and the tweets the incels are using seem to prove that the worst case scenario for not adhering to the request has come to pass.
The thing is, she did delete the tweets.
This user has screencapped incels scrambling to justify their belief the game is for man-haters, including a statement that he had dug up deleted tweets. These are old records.
These are the retweets, all made before joining the company (but again, the policy was that the tweets like this should be scrubbed). Most of them are just being catty. The most extreme statements are a scathing satire even a child could understand, and some general feminist sentiments which are not incendiary in any way. It seems they were screencapped to cement a pattern of passionate feelings on feminism.
In Korea, feminism is considered a wedge issue, which means basic activism becomes extremely politically charged. Think of it like how trans issues are being treated in America at the moment, or how "Critical Race Theory" was a wedge issue like 2 years ago. Nevertheless, the most hateful statements in these tweets are not "feminist", but rather annoyance at misogyny, and pretty obviously jokes.
The tweet that the incels are latching onto here states "if being a feminist makes me Megalia, I am Megalia. If being against patriarchy makes me anti-social, I am anti-social". Megalia was a scumbag leftist radfem group originating from Korea's 4chan (anonymous messageboards). It was bad enough that banning gay slurs created a splinter group. Megalia was well-known for mirroring misogynistic behaviours back onto men. They were reviled. An actress lost her job for wearing a T-shirt this group sold, even though the funds were going to supporting women seeking legal actions. Association with Megalia was reputation poison.
Notice I refer to them in the past tense, because Megalia shut down in 2017. The tweet was in 2018. You could not get any more obvious that the statement being made was "you can insult me by calling me Megalia, but I still believe in feminism". There is no association with this incendiary group.
Incels "supported" their argument with an image of Yi Sang holding a vial in basically one of the only 2 ways you can hold a vial, calling it a reference to 🤏, an emoji used as the Megalia logo interpreted to mean "men have small penises". This insane interpretation is being used to cement the whole company as misandrist.
Therefore: Project Moon fired their lead artist even though she didn't violate her contract because insane incels did a "how dare you say we piss on the poor" bad faith misinterpretation of deleted tweets in order to justify their belief that Project Moon is a man-hating company, and as a man-hating company deserves to be annihilated, leading to threats to staff.
The artist for Leviathan later stated that Project Moon pushed the comic forward with no buffer, and when the schedule became unbearable, they just cancelled it. They were told there was an issue with production (supported by the fact the company dropped the translation in favour of focusing on the game), but this news has made the artist pessimistic about the company's treatment of their art team. (Update: deleted, with a statement they feel they felt attached to their debut work, and struggle with feeling like they ran away.)
Here's the artist Vellmori's twitter if you would like to support them through this period.

I hate that Arcane made the decision to make Hextech an inherently evil power. It should not have been that simple and the real-world applications are not that simple. Making Hextech evil is an anti-progress message.
Hextech is basically a fantasy reflection of nuclear power. Nuclear power is almost objectively a good thing, but tends to be conflated with nuclear missiles despite there being a huge gap between the two. The best thing coal companies ever did to try and save their industry was to convince us that they’re the same.
Most detractors will point to the Chornobyl disaster as an example of the dangers of nuclear energy. They fail to recognize that that happened largely due to incompetence and outdated reactor designs, all flaws that have been fixed long ago. Today’s reactors have failsafes upon failsafes and risky old designs have been retired. Even the disaster at Fukushima was nowhere near the caliber of Chornobyl. There are millions of people living in Fukushima today.
It is willful ignorance to continue using coal while waiting for a better source of energy to emerge. Nuclear energy isn’t perfect, but it’s far cleaner and safer today than coal power ever has been. Nuclear waste is disposed of with incredible safeguards rather than billowing up to linger in the atmosphere and slowly cook the planet. The US Bureau of Labor recorded about 20 annual deaths per 100k workers in the coal industry in 2021 (while we’re at it, 10 per 100k for oil and gas) while the nuclear industry had exactly zero. Even if nuclear energy isn’t perfect, it’s pretty close, and we’d be fools not to switch over to it until a viable replacement arises (solar and wind are not strong enough, at least right now).
Oh yeah, this was supposed to be about Hextech. Jayce is stupid, Heimerdinger is the coal industry, and I don’t think Viktor has a real-life equivalent in this nuclear-Hextech metaphor. Unless we say he just took bare, unprotected radioactive material and plopped it down in the middle of town square. Or… became the radioactive material, idk. That’s the closest I can get. Jayce saw the Runeterra equivalent of Chornobyl and decided to shut down all Hextech operations immediately. I understand why, but that doesn’t make him right. Heimerdinger is comfortable with the way things are now, in no small part because it’s comfortable for him even though Zaunites had it so bad in the coal mines they had a whole attempted revolution over it. Perhaps he was right and Hextech needed more safeguards, but there was no reason to eliminate it entirely. You want Zaunites to stop dying in the mines? Support Hextech so people have a better power source. (That’s not gonna fix everything; mostly a systemic change is needed, but Hextech instead of coal would also help.)
Let’s assess the problems with Hextech. There seem to be two central ones: the spread of magical energy causing Ekko’s tree rot and Viktor’s… whole thing.
The source of the magical energy rotting Ekko’s favorite tree comes from the Hexgates surging over capacity and releasing that energy underground thanks to the redirection tunnel/chamber that they built. This is a fixable problem. They can relocate the Hexgates, design a way to absorb the magical energy, find ways to relieve the magical buildup before it becomes a problem, etc. Don’t ask me, I’m not a mage.
Now to the Viktor apocalypse. This is a very fixable problem. THROW AWAY THE HEXCORE. Whoops, too late, it’s already merged with your husband lab partner? Make your speech about how he was never broken, etc etc. sooner to avoid him becoming Hextech Jesus or, failing all better solutions, detain him. Just detain him! I don’t like it either, but if the fate of the world is at stake, you gotta detain Viktor until you can love confession/therapy the Hexcore’s manipulation out of him. Let’s also not ignore the fact that this is a very niche, very unlikely problem to arise again. It was unlikely to begin with. No other project Jayce and Viktor worked on posed any threat of this problem. Caitlyn’s gun did not have thoughts of world domination. Viktor just happened to create the world’s cultiest AI. Actually, we don’t even know if the Hexcore was like this before the introduction of shimmer. It could be that those two are just a horrible combination and Hextech on its own doesn’t have the Glorious Evolution issue; only the magical contamination issue in the above Ekko tree section.
Sorry about the long post and sorry about the nuclear energy detour. Anyway, I’m still pro-Hextech and nothing can change that.

hate mail is stupid you're really cool keep doing whatever you want forever, i like your post, very good stuff to read and think about and also makes me day a little better knowing people who aren't trans men care about anti-transmasc issues
-trans guy who's a bit to shy to go off anon
<333333
(altho, for the record, i do consider myself a trans man! its just that i emphasize being nb/gq more since if you don't emphasize it, folks will inevitably ignore it + i was tired of people coming to my inbox telling me i'm a woman-hating MRA as if i am not also a woman. unfortunately being multigender means everyone is constantly fighting over which gender you Really Are in order to decide how best to traumatize + alienate you el em ay oh)
