i know that disney is too big to boycott effectively but that shouldn't translate to "and so we should keep buying their products like normal" but rather "at the very least we should try"

What if we were strangers but you saved me from bullies in high school?
What if we became the best of friends?
What if I saved you from your violent father?
What if you ran away for 15 years?
What if you came back into my life, unexpectedly?
What if I told you you're the centre of the world?
What if you told me: "Of your world, maybe"
WHAT THEN? WHAT THEN?

Season 8 is so cold, does anyone know what I mean. It's so gray, where's the warm lighting. I need yellow. Everything is so dead, it's such a lonely vibe where IS EVERYONE.

I really hate how Rick was like "It wouldn't make sense for these kids not to know" Do you want to know want wouldn't make sense, Richard? A twelve year old being taken on a quest where a prophecy has state that two of them will die. That doesn't really make sense, Richard. huh I wonder if there's a concept where people will not worry about thinking too critically about media and will instead try to have a fun time. I wonder if they would let go of their disbelief, maybe even suspend it somehow

Okay but thinking about Darry being different and not really a greaser anymore... But the hang out is still the Curtis home. Like yes he's different but at the end of the day the are welcome. They'll always be welcomed. He'll let them come eat his food. They're welcome to come watch TV and whatever else they want. They are welcome.
And the gang feels safe there. Sure it's Pony and Soda's house, but Darry's differentness doesn't bother them. Not in that sense. He's still sort of the gang just les indirectly then he once was.
Also he doesn't actually stop the boys from partaking in Greaser things. Even the rumble, he begs Pony to think about it, but he doesn't tell him no.
Pony gets jumped and asks to go out the very next day with Dally of all people and Darrel doesn't love it, but he lets him go.
Like Darrel almost feels removed by necessity. Sure he "went Soc" and had college scholarships and everything and I'm sure that affected him, made him less Grease more "civilized" but even if he hadn't. When would he have time to do basic Greaser things? He worked full time and we see him folding laundry while the gang is watching TV. He doesn't have the luxury of truly being a member of the gang anymore.
Darry is different because he has to be. Because if he thinks back to his highschool self and all that promise and all that hope and all that free time and all that connection he'll crumble. He has too much to do to even think about it.
He's still a Greaser at heart. He could never be full Soc. Not really. A Soc wouldn't let his house be the hang out place for Greasers. He wouldn't facilitate hang outs and let his brothers hang out with people like Dally. Not if he was even half Soc. And when time comes he fights with the Greasers because there was never a choice.
For Darrel Curtis there was never really a choice. He does what he has to and pretends he doesn't care. Keeps the roof up over all the Greasers even while the walls crumble around him.

they still made that ghoul too fucking smooth
i 100% agree (the tv series ghoul has ears, even! how dare they!) but i guess it's close enough to the fallout 4 ghouls; my worst expectation was basically just noseless make-up and a bad tan. i'd like to see it in different lighting before really making a call on it but i really wish they gave him nastier teeth though and those black eyes

personally i like how wet the FO3/NV ghouls look but I figure that Frank Cotton-esque goop and decay was either out of the budget or too off-putting to feature too heavily

i think its so cool that iwtv uses visual & cultural shorthand to say something without really saying it (except they kind of do say it as well cause louis is called a houeswife) and its kind of sad ppl aren't even appreciating it like if you remember all the old sitcoms you watched growing up when the kid needed to learn how to drive who was teaching them? probably the dad. we've spent our whole lives watching brides get carried into the house after marriage. we watched lucille ball clean the house while ricky came home in a suit and tie. we've seen a million courtships where the boy gets invited to dinner at the girl's family and they grill him on his intentions, as well as proposals by men getting down on their knees. we've also seen countless romantic comedies where the man uses a song to woo back the girl he lost. does this mean all relationships or marriages have this exact dynamic??? obviously not!! are there also examples of the reverse?? duh. but storytelling is not just about what's in front of you but also the culmination of what you've seen before.

I forgot about the inscription on Ben's statue. "May the darkness within you find peace in the light." Within the allegory, they're all abuse survivors - except for Ben, who allegorically died by suicide as a teenager (killed by the monsters inside him) because what the HELL else would that inscription mean.

I always say the shingles saga as an immunocompromised sixteen-year-old was my near-death experience but then my mom will occasionally make musings of the time my heart stopped when I was 8 and I'm like oh yeah that happened
#supraventricular tachycardia#technically it wasn't the SVT that did it that was doing the oppsite and making my heart beat AT LEAST two hundred BPM#(machines at the time didn't go past two hundred BPM so we have no way of knowing how fast my heart rate actually was)#it was the adenosine they gave me to TREAT the SVT that caused my heart to stop lmfao whoops#it wasn't for very long but my mother can't tell me how long it was bc she said her heart was stopping in that moment too#it didn't take long for my heart rate to shoot back up to two hundred beats per minute tho#the uncomfy part of remembering all this is that I was conscious and cognizant of all of it as it happened#my heart stopped but my brain still was functioning and at no point during this crisis was I sedated#so I'm just lying in bed terrified as I watch my heartbeats on the monitor go from two hundred to the tens to single digits in the span of.#...fast#I blocked the memory out for a years until I read the account of a girl whose was awake when they used the heart shock paddles on her#and was violently thrust into my 8 year old body clutching the hospital bed watching the heart monitor rapidly ticked down#when the flashback was over I assumed I was over empathizing with the story but when I asked my mom she said that's exactly how it happened#we both recall shock paddles being pulled out at some point but they were never used#i don't remember if that was during the adenosine tho or at some other point during the emergency#as far as I know shock paddles aren't actually used to restart flatlined hearts like on tv#they may have been pulled out before or after to shock my heart out of tachycardia but again were never actually used#anyway fucking wow it's always interesting to remember this factoid of my silly life#near death experience#if you think it's weird my mom will bring it up out of the blue I'm ninety nine percent certain she has PTSD from this event#she's more traumatized than I am about it at any rate. like I said I have to be reminded it even happened#medical trauma

for research purposes (genuinely), i'm looking to make a list of what people consider Required Viewing™ (or reading) in terms of vampire fiction. while specifically this research is for paranormal romance, other iconic vampire fiction that add to the canon would be much appreciated. i would especially be interested in any stories about non western vampiric creatures since they are absolutely out there!
some (but not all!) of my current list includes
dracula by bram stoker
carmilla by sheridan le fanu
interview with the vampire by anne rice
twilight by stephenie meyer (yeah i know)
the awakening by l. j. smith
