As the cabin came into view again, Goldie couldn’t stop thinking about how this had to be the coldest night they’d had in weeks and her feathers were turning into little icicles. With the small amount of sunlight left, she could see her breath on every exhale. It was so cold she was getting exhausted much faster than she should’ve and Goldie knew she’d be sick in the morning...if she made it there at all.

May I present...the Ice Queen of Dawson. ❄️

This has been a long time coming, but I finally finished this set of three drawings last week that I've been wanting to draw for the longest time for @lettheladylead's running in circles (the above drawing specifically comes from chapter 4 - it's the exact moment that Goldie sees the cabin again on the way back from trying to get back to Dawson). (Will also say that these are a very happy belated birthday gift to you! :D)

There were a few moments from the Klondike chapters that weren't necessarily major story moments, but the descriptions of them (and especially of the environments/lighting) caught my eye and my heart, and made me want to highlight the beauty of the Klondike, and so here we are.

For this scene in particular, her walk back to the cabin, I got a very vivid image of it while reading it, a sort of tragic twist on a "winter wonderland" and on Goldie looking all icy-pretty, and the angst of the Ice Queen naturally came in to play.

Will post the other two drawings over the next two days - up next: a king in the morning light.

Meanwhile Kim is reliving his worst nightmare where he has to finish the case with teenager who proclaims herself next Innocence

there is truly a Daffy for every occasion. i've been obsessing over Oklahoma! for the past week and wouldn't you know it, the duck already beat me to the punch. but technically i beat me to the duck beating me to the punch since i was the one who saved this panel months ago with the caption of "Daffy is a fan of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma". turns out it is i who is a fan of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma. i am a fan of Daffy as fan of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma

my The Deep headcanons(the Nektons)

(a few are longer situations but i'm including them anyways)

1. when the Nektons play monopoly it ends with Ant and Kaiko getting crazy competitive(sometimes Fontaine joins in) and Will watching in mild horror(after a specific incident monopoly is banned from the Aronnax. no exceptions.)

2. Fontaine and Ant went to land school after canon to get a break(Fontaine's biology teacher knew about the Nektons and talked about a discovery they made in class. Fontaine got mysteriosly sick that day)

3. Kaiko got into some shenanigans in college and owes several people several favours because of it

4. at some point, the Nektons find out that mermaids are real. Ant never lets them forget that they didn't believe him

5. Will: only drinks coffee Fontaine: only drinks tea Kaiko: drinks both Ant: hates both

6. Ant's an early bird and a night owl. he just doesn't sleep

7. none of the Nektons basically ever get sick, but when they do half the time it turns into a hospital trip

8. Kaiko has an insane spice tolerance

9. Ant drank an energy drink once. everyone else feared for their lives

10. none of the Nektons really have a great sleep schedule. between nightmares(because the entire family's traumatised atp), their work, and being called out for rescue missions and other issues at all hours of the day sometimes, it's a little hard

11. Fontaine is terrified of horses

12. after the episode with the mining machine, Ant said that he deserved a free pass to misbehave once, since Kaiko lectured him about almost getting himself killed by the machine and then proceeded to do the same thing herself. after a bit(a lot) of convincing Kaiko and Will agreed(they will regret this)

13. Kaiko says she can't sing. she can, but no one can convince her of that

14. english is neither Kaiko or Will's first language. it's one of the first languages Ant and Fontaine learned, but it's not their first either. all of the Nektons speak at least 4-5 languages

15. Kaiko and Will feel guilty about bringing their kids into the life they have. they all almost die way too often. Ant and Fontaine shouldn't have to go through that. but it's too late to back out now(besides, no one really wants to, even though it's dangerous)

Day 1 of trying hiding from my Mutuals (I’m a borrower for context)
