Fire Emblem - What type of education does your muse have / want to have / wish they had? What type of student were they?

          ||. personally, i don’t think sonic ever had a proper education. at least, not a formal one.  he picked up adventuring when he was very, VERY young  (he was... about 2 years older than the age tails was when he picked tails up...  so ~7. roughly.) and never had the need to learn anything outside of basic reading comprehension and writing, rudimentary maths, etc. of which, he’d have partly learned/observed from various inhabitants of christmas island. though for quite some time he was on his own, being a vagabond adventurer, so he slipped up and became VERY rusty with these skills. at least, until he had to re-learn them for tails’ sake. (and, probably, tails just getting to it much faster than he could or ever bothered to.)

          he’s very largely self-taught. including not only the above, but wilderness/survival skills, self-defense, and all of the various ways to control his powers. he learns mostly through observation. osmosis and all of that. much of his time - even now - is spent quietly observing. whether that’s the world around him, his friends doing  their specialized skills, or watching tails tinker away, his brain is constantly firing at all synopsis, filing away information that could  be important to use for later, and retaining as much of it as possible. (his way of  learning is very similar to how rainbow dash learns in “testing testing 123″. seen in action HERE , but the tl;dr is sonic catalogues everything down to to the smallest detail, ESPECIALLY when he’s on the move.) he’s actually MUCH more intelligent than he lets on, or even than he thinks he is. 

           and i say “thinks he is” mostly because the kid grew up around a child-genius with a 300 IQ at 5-8. it’s easy to downplay your own smarts around a prodigy like that. (ironic, i know.) sonic doesn’t think he’s dumb at all, but he knows it’s  not  a strength — at least not one he’s  bothered to actually cultivate. and the only ‘regret’ he has about his style of self-education is not being able to keep up and help out with tails’ needs when tails finally, swiftly outmatched him. he came around on that one, though, given tails figured it out in spades.

yaku wipes his forehead with a towel while he is sat at the side of the court. the match is over and everyone is beginning to filter out of the stadium, including his teammates, but not without giving him a celebratory slap on the back or handshake first.

they all make their way towards the exit, where there are crowds of interviewers and tv cameramen waiting to pester them about their winning game. yaku wasn't quite ready yet to deal with the onslaught of questions and praise, so he remains on bench a bit longer, still trying to properly catch his breath.

that was until he heard the familiar voice of an old friend yell, "hey, shorty!"

he looked up to see lev walking towards him, with his arms wide open for a hug. it had been over a year since yaku had seen lev, since his modelling career had really taken off and presented unmissable oppertunities all over the world. yaku couldn't help but crack a smile, even at the terrible nickname.

as lev made his way towards him, he couldn't help but notice the girl he was with. stunning. a beauty unlike any other. so graceful and elegant in their movements, wearing a benign smile that caused yaku's heart to skip a beat.

naturally, he assumes you are lev's model girlfriend, or something like that. that was the only reasonable explanation he could think of, but even then, you were still miles out of lev's league. as you both approached, yaku tried his best to pay little mind towards you, as the reminder of lev's fortune would only piss him off and spoil what was supposed to be a joyful reunion.

"lev." he said, outstretching his arm for a handshake but he should've expected it when lev scooped him up in a big, tight hug.

"yaku! it's been forever!"

"put me down!" he demanded, and lev obliged, still beaming at him.

"congratulations on your win." lev said, and you added, "yeah, you were amazing."

yaku couldn't help but blush at your compliment, and he bowed his head in thanks towards both you and lev. which is what prompted lev to clear his throat and clarify, "oh! this is my cousin (y/n) from abroad."

you wave slightly to accompany the introduction, meanwhile yaku looks between the two of you, absolutely star-struck. "cousin?" he repeats.

"yeah." lev chuckled awkwardly, motioning towards himself and joking, "you're probably confused because i am so much better-looking but it's beca—"

you playfully elbow him in the side and he grunts slightly, then bursts out laughing while you exchange a knowing look with yaku. "so are you a model too?" he asks.

a fiery heat rises to your face and you tense, shaking your head slightly, "no, i'm just here with lev because i wanted to see the game."

he takes notice of the fact his question flustered you a little, and this brings him a new-found confidence, "have you ever thought of going into modelling?"

you blink a couple times while thinking about it, then shrug, "it's never really crossed my mind. i like the job i have."

"oh, yeah!" lev chimes in, "she's a statistician, isn't that super fancy?"

you nod in agreement with your cousin's enthusiasm, elaborating, "i know it doesn't sound cool but i get to chill in a big office and i hardly have to talk to anyone."

yaku agrees that a career devoid of other people's stupidity sounds like a dream come true, but he inquires, "so you just hide behind a computer all day?"

you nod proudly.

"sounds like a waste of such a pretty face." he chuckles to himself at how your eyes widen and your hand rushes to cover the bottom half of your face, "really, though, you should think about modelling. it's probably a lot easier and pays more. plus, i'd rather see your face on billboards than his."

he gestures to lev, who slaps his hand against his chest and lets out a dramatic gasp, "what's wrong with my face?! and modelling is not easy; it's one of the hardest jobs in the world and not for the weak."

"i'm sure styling your hair is very difficult, lev." yaku says sarcastically.

you laugh and interject, "he doesn't even style his own hair, he has someone to do that for him."

yaku raises an eyebrow, trying to suppress a shit-eating grin, "so what the fuck do you do?"

lev crosses his arms over his chest and pouts, walking towards the exit, "you two can come find me when you're done being mean."

you both snicker to yourselves at lev's behaviour, realising you only tease him out of love, really. so when your laughter dies down, you begin to follow him at a safe distance behind. "how long are you going to be in russia for?" yaku asks, recalling that lev mentioned you're from a different country.

"just today." you reply, "this trip was so last-minute for me. lev just messaged me a week ago asking if i wanted to come and i said sure. i wanted to stay for a whole week but virtually all nearby hotels were booked. it's a miracle i even managed to find a room for tonight."

yaku frowned at your story, "that sucks. but i know a motel that has availability for this week."

"really?" you perk up, "what's it called?"

1. jackie taylor or shauna shipman - because they're gay. these two characters are my top one because it's hard to choose among them but also because they're one whole person together. like i love how well both of them are written, even in past and in the present. and all their scenes : the exchanging of the necklace as a symbol of love, the jealousy, the betrayal, shauna putting the necklace in the neck of the girls she hunts so that she could eat jackie over and over again (cannibalism has often been portrayed as a symbol of love in many literatures), their little staring at each other moments, jackie haunting shauna forever, shauna keeping her old diaries and clothes just so she could revisit their time in the wilderness. i will start crying now :(

2. misty quigley - she has to be the greatest fictional character ever created cause omg??? the way she actually CRIED when she killed (accidentally killed) nat. i really like her because how complex her character is. she was willing to help all the other girls in the past (even tho she was the one to destroy the black box lol) and even in the present w/o any second thought. probably is one of the most interesting character of yj

3. laura lee - first of all laura lee my bbg didn't deserve to die like that – in a fucking plane explosion??? like she already survived the plane crash then why ahh. but on the serious note, her character too, like misty's is really interesting. even tho she had a short role, she created quite a few plots for the show and her death was so necessary and important for the show. because you see laura would never let lottie literally start a CANNIBALISTIC cult like never ever!! and even if she didn't die she would never participate in the cult. not willingly, never and then she would either be hunted down by the other girls or she'd have to die starving so yes, her death does make a lot of sense. laura's innocence and willingness to sacrifice herself for others are what made me love her so much.

Very very specific request, but can I rq any character(s) of your choice with an s/o(platonic or not) that's scary. Like horror movie scary, kayako from ju-on/sadako from ringu type of scary. They also do stuff that would be considered "weird," like popping up behind you when you're not looking for like 1 second, climbing in vents and hiding in weird and hidden places, saying the most cryptid and unsettling stuff unprovoked. Barou doesn't even remember how you became his friend. It just happened and now he's not getting rid of you. He always acts as if nothing scares him, but truth be told, you always manage to scare him at least a bit. If it wasn't for your sweet personality besides your... special interests and traits, he would probably be a bit terrified of you. You like to joke about him being the King and you being a ghost haunting his castle. Barou also finds himself thinking about you a lot. Even if most of that is just him questioning how you always manage to sneak up behind him or jump out of random places to startle him - Barou usually only thinks of himself, but you got him thinking about you.

Shidou LOVES everything about how weird, creepy and deranged you are. It's hard to actually scare him, but he's always amazed at what you do. That's also what started your friendship in the first place. He's the first person to not be weirded out by you. Instead, he's genuinely interested in you. But you've still picked up the challenge of finding something that scares him. No matter if it's something you do, a horror movie or a horror game. You're determined to find something that unsettles him even slightly. So far, without any success, but you're not ready to give up yet.

Rin thinks you're a walking jumpscare. Even though he loves horror games and movies, he's still a bit creeped out by you, because you're real and not something fictional. Despite that, he feels himself drawn to you all the time. He wonders how someone with interests and traits as scary as yours can have such a sweet personality, but that's exactly what sparked his interest in you. He also loves talking to you about anything horror related. Rin knows you have a lot of knowledge about it and frequently asks you for recommendations. Since you know him so well, you know exactly what he will like.

I didnt know u were going to write a full on post on my Baxter request, I'm so touched by the sweet fluff and step 3 & 4 scenarios 😭 I read that Baxter post 5 times it is so good! Im happy that u can relate to my MC, I have so many thots on how I would change certain scenes to fit my MC's journey. (I hope u dont mind me sharing ☺️ I get so happy thinking about it)

Nervous, step 3 crush mode:

The confession scene where Baxter admits he wants to date MC, she is over the moon and flabbergasted he would confess after knowing him for a week--but the mentioning of flings again throws her off and she tells him she doesn't take things like relationships lightly. He apologises and rephrases the question of them dating. My MC, who is usually the one who encourages Cove to do daring and new things and take initiative, doesn't always take her own advice. Surprisingly, she finds herself taking small steps to become closer to this elusive boy she has crushed on in step 2 (he was so ADORABLE in step 2!), realizing that Baxter always gives her the choice to choose what happens next, regardless of what he wants to happen next (all the kisses, hugs, u name it!). It takes a good deal of willpower for my MC to not lose her nerve, but Baxter's warm presence makes her feel safe and strengthens her resolve--but in small steps.

Back to the confession, MC always wants to hold his hand to ground herself before doing something bold and does this before questioning him on certain things like him not going to ask other locals out on flings or asking if he's sure about dating her, quirks and all. After she agreed and he tried to say bid her a good night, MC looked at him, surprised. She was certain he would ask for a kiss, like in the movies. She takes his hand again and smiles softly as she gives him an eskimo kiss, gently pressing her nose to his nose and beaming up at him from that position, willing him to kiss her in their close proximity. How could Baxter say no after that? (Omg so cute, im blushing 🥰🥰🥰)

oh and imagine that every time, or almost every time, you give him a kiss on the cheek as farewell. and like i mentioned in the last post, i like to imagine you sneak into baxter's condo at night and you're laying in his queen bed, chatting and giggling.

maybe it's just because this adds to the ambiance of being up late at night with someone, especially someone you like, but its fun to whisper and shush each other even though theres no one in the house except you two.

and back to the kissing!!! i imagine you forget to kiss baxter after an outing, and before you go into the house baxters stops you and kisses your cheek himself. he quickly runs away into his condo, leaving you flustered on your ownsteps.

it was raining a bunch right … and there was this lil nature reserve near my house . w a path you could walk up on a hill but also down by a river….. and it was raining sm that the whole thing was just FLOODED. you couldn’t see any of the rocks in the river…. or the grass you could walk on beside it…… so little ari decided to go down there anyway. for the sake of adventure. and i made it to the end of the path to a fence that you could jump over to get to The Normal Road Home .

BUT …. gasp ………. little ari came face to face w a bunch of cows . up on the hill. right by the fence. they were eating the grass and i was scared bc they were fucking HUGE mickey :((( i was shaking n shivering and trying to blend in w my surroundings……… carefully making my way towards the fence that they were kinda blocking.

BUT THEN …. another gasp….. suddenly i was face to face w this One cow/bull and it just stared at me. for a couple seconds. and then it ran right towards me and my childhood instincts kicked in …. so i like. ran down the hill and then back up so i could jump over the fence . and then i was ok :) but ever since that fateful day i’ve been scared of cows….. i can only admire them from afar 😔😔😔😔

1: What inspired you to write the fic this way?

You lmao. As I've said, big part of why I'm actually writing it down! Re: the way I wrote it though, I've basically always written stuff with lots of POV switches, I like to see the differences between people's attitudes and levels of knowledge. If I ever write a story where everyone in it starts with all the same facts, I've probably been replaced by a pod person

2: What scene did you first put down?

I write chronologically, so that first scene with Ariel and Bethany was the first thing I wrote

3: What’s your favorite line of narration?

Ariel wasn’t the sort to leave things up to chance any more. Anyone could have seen, and anyone could have turned them in, so there were no fireballs or ice storms for them. No mage’s staff. In Kirkwall, it was all down to daggers and luck.  Sometimes that luck seemed too good to be true. Sometimes Ariel moved faster than a person really ought to be able to, and sometimes the idiots trying to kill them tripped over thin air. Only the paranoid would call that magic.

4: What’s your favorite line of dialogue?

When Justice in his chapter 1 section remarks on Wade and Herren being soulmates with

“I do not see it. This doesn’t happen to spirits,”

mostly because I immediately said "Ha, incorrect" to myself lmao. Justice himself obviously, but using Wade and Herren was an extra joke because idc what the creators said, if Herren is a desire demon in Darkspawn Chronicles, I believe that it's true for every timeline

5: What part was hardest to write?

Can I say the chapter I'm working on rn? I am being very picky about the first meeting because it's pretty essential in a soulmate au

6: What makes this fic special or different from all your other fics?

I've never written for this ot3 before, or actually published anything for Ariel or DA2 as a whole. It's fun to get into Kirkwall! Also there are some pretty big time jumps between scenes, which I have done before but not in stuff that follows a set plot like a video games, so it's neat to kind of work into the spaces in an existing timeline

7: Where did the title come from?

The song Out There from Hunchback of Notre Dame lmfao. I'm just glad it wasn't actually called omg they were soupmates at this point

8: Did any real people or events inspire any part of it?

Not really

9: Were there any alternate versions of this fic?

Not for the overarching plot but I did have a Lot of back and forth over certain details like Anders and Karl's relationship, when different scenes happen and from whose POV, where this story ends, etc

10: Why did you choose this pairing for this particular story?

because I love them <3 more seriously, because I love Justice, and I'm sad he's barely a character in DA2, especially because he's so interesting about love in Awakening, and I wanted him to be an equal part of the story. Also because they're the weirdest option in a soulmate au, so I get to poke at the "rules" of the genre

writing Ariel is so fun! purple Hawke you will always be an icon

Balancing the different POVs has been stressing me out a little, I know it doesn't actually matter that much but I do want them to be at least roughly equal

I don't listen to my character playlists while writing, because I can't write and hear lyrics at the same time, so I've just been putting on youtube mixes of fantasy writing instrumentals lol
