[Image Description: Two unfinished digital paintings / sketches of the hatchling and Hal from outer wilds. they are standing with their arms around each other and the hatchling has their head leaning on hal's shoulder as hal watches the supernova in the distance through the doorway of the museum. the first image is the scene viewed from behind with everything lit in bright blue with dark shadows. the second image shows hal's face looking in fear towards the light and is only partially colored, the rest sketched over a gray background. End Image Description.]

Also sorry for Nowell Sing We Clear-posting straight through the month of December but I started listening to another of their albums for the first time in the like 15 years I've been listening to Best of (an album which was apparently my mom's old boss's Christmas present to them one year and which I found behind the couch in our CD stash sometime in middle school and promptly proceeded to torture everyone in a five-mile radius by listening to it fifty times every December thereafter) and the version of "The Derby Ram" on this new one still has the classic "Oh, the man that wrote this song, sir, he must be mighty rich / And the one who sings it now, sir, is a lying son of a [VERY LOUD HORN NOISES AND GENERAL COMMOTION]", but also the chorus on this one is "And indeed, my lads, it's true, my lads / I never was known to lie" LITERALLY DOUBLE DOWN WE GO HARD OR WE GO HOME

Some day you will grow up and learn to lie / just like your daddy did when he told you no one ever really dies
I hope that I'm not there when you realize / that those with their nose in the air will never look you in the eye
(toe to toe, streetlight manifesto)
[Image description: two photos of the same drawing, the first one just the inked sketch and the second with color from colored pencils, of Lord Sterling Whitetower from Inn Between. He is a man with an athletic build, slightly pointed ears, medium brown skin, and short, curly, dark brown hair. He is wearing silver plate armor with a blue cloth wrap and a belt with a scabbard around his waist, and is holding a simple broadsword and a shield with the symbol of St. Cuthbert. His eyes are closed. The color drawing has a silver D&D dice on each corner of the page. End of image description.]

Unknown/Nth by Hozier reminds me of you talking about how Durge must feel betrayed by Gortash even if they can't fully remember why. Especially towards the ending.
The part "You called me angel for the first time, my heart leapt from me/ You smile now, I can see its pieces still stuck in your teeth/ And what's left of it, I listen to it tick/ Every tedious beat going unknown as any angel to me" reminds me of Durge saying "I seemed to have trusted you once before, and it ruined me". They know they trusted him once, and they know they feel like they shouldn't again, but the details are still unknown to them.
"Do you know, I could break beneath the weight/ Of the goodness, love, I still carry for you? That I'd walk so far just to take/ The injury of finally knowing you?" reminds me of Durge saying "for what it's worth, I think I always liked you too." They may still have feelings for him, they might want to remember the good times, but they can't anymore.
"It ain't the being alone (Sha la la)/ It ain't the empty home, baby (Sha la la)/ You know I'm good on my own (Sha la la)/ Sha la la, baby/ You know, it's more the being unknown" - The true tragedy of Durgetash isn't the betrayal, or the death, it's that the only one alive who could remember what they had never will...
"And there are some people, love, who are better unknown" ... and that in the long run, they're better off for it. At the end of the day Gortash was an awful, evil person, who's sole redeeming quality is that he was loved. But not anymore, and so he is best forgotten.
hey anon, you know it's illegal to bring a gun into my house and shoot me right in the heart, yeah? you're going to fucking jail for life now. i hope it was worth it.

Gonna try something stupid that will hopefully be funny.
I will take a few lines of dialogue from some of my fics and then Google translate these lines several times through different languages and then back to English.
Oh! I’m-a use Papago instead of Google translate because that returns comedy gold with just one translation. Imagine the word casserole that it will spit back after several translations.
I mean to say - enjoy the very very accurate translations below.
From Cuckoos and Crocodiles:
His door opened wide. - You know that? Cerebro put his head in the room and asked.
- Didn't you hear your heart beat? Seebeck turned around and crashed.
Eunji stared at him - "Yes," he said. But your door was open. His eyes fell on an object in Seebeck's hands. - Proteins?
From More Than Friends:
"I don't like coming here," complained AlDS. « I'm afraid of vibrations.”
Deuce saw him. "I love it"
He snored. "Of course I will.”
"What does that mean?”
In other words, the taste for friends is questionable.
"You're my friend," Deuce said.
From Totes Adorbs:
Mr. Liddle took the book with his other hand and shouted "You're angry", crossing the claws with Floyd in the form of half a box with one hand. "It's really annoying. It's annoying. I'm upset," he concluded.
Floyd, like Riddle Review, found the choice of words interesting. It doesn't start with an "i."

i have a new theory for aru sekai fans & by new i mean someone else might have caught on already but i havent seen it said SO. the rute furutewoa melody is in kyuuyaku, touhikou, & now kannagi (maybe elsewhere bc i havent been looking for this motif before i only realized it today really & i havent had time to go thru all the songs again yet) & we have kyuu (past), something in touhikou im too tired to remember currently but i remember calling something similar a while ago when someone asked if there was a timeline to this, and now kannagi that uses the older language so im willing to bet this motif is a way of saying the events in the song happened in the "past". whether thats actually Long Ago or just to say its not the current situation or just happened before the songs without it i cant say for sure but i think it makes sense given what we have now.
just like we have the nami no ne no motif that signals which characters still have their "self" if its in the song or lost it if its not.
i have to do some more digging of course but with what i know right now this makes the most sense to me
#aru sekai series#u know those old people who say they do crosswords to keep their brain sharp. thats what this series feels like to me.#incredibly complex puzzle to put together in which i need to be constantly learning new things & concepts#anyway for some reason i feel like theres a link to ashura that im not touching on too but idk for sure yet#there is. something about ashura that drives me insane bc it FEELS familiar there IS. SOME sort of motif or theme or SOMETHING there#i KNOW it but i can never place WHAT it makes me rabid.#tell me your secrets puppet girl#also btw kannagi i think also ties into touhikou. given the art & that line thats like prayer will come to sustain us or whatever it is#its 2am ive had a long day i dont remember the exact thing rn. usually i check before posting but please excuse me just this once#i wish i could make friends with the jpn magu fans who also go wild over the lore but idk how to find them. its always like one off comments#sorry i didnt really go wild over yamete kudasai. it just felt rather straight forward & didnt give any big reveals that i know of#so i just kind of went ah neat & looped it for a while#but kannagi. kannagi's got the puzzle aspect back & a WHOLE BUNCH of links to other songs. & thats without knowing the lyrics#but also u know kyuuyaku's my fave so having this be closely related is a big 👀👀👀 for me#i saw someone try to say kannagis the ka in the amakakeru arc of songs (if that is a real arc. it Is a fan theory idk how accurate tho)#but that wouldnt be right bc we already have kanon for the ka.#if there are arcs like that i think itd be in with whatever ashura's in. even tho ashura is a 5 kanji song and kannagis only 1

#it's so weeeeeeeird to get my parents' feedback on my songs#they're both very artistic types and i always enjoy sharing my music with them#and they tend to give extensive and always-positive feedback. which is. great?#but also they both have this weird habit of assuming that every narrator of every song is always 'in the right'#and should be respected and agreed with and supported#which... kind of makes me feel like they're assuming every narrator is me?#and that's very unsettling bc most of my fictional narrators are uh. lol. Not Great People#ranging from just kind of weak and craven and avoidant (see: the narrator of a certain recent song)#to full-on violent and cruel and fucked-up in the head#ffs i wrote a song recently from the POV of a creep who fixates on a woman he's never met#and eventually murders her (before which he may or may not have raped her. the lyric is intentionally ambiguous)#like... most of the time i thought it was pretty obvious that i'm telling a story with my songs#but either i'm really failing at accurately portraying all these flawed characters#or else my parents have some other reason for constantly reacting to every song narrator#as if said narrator were Not To Be Criticized#my mum described the narrator of this certain song as 'fearless and self-confident and in control'#and i was like... are we referring to the same song?#the one where the narrator is in a super toxic relationship but just pathetically runs away from their reality#instead of ending the relationship and getting their freedom?#the one where - despite feeling trapped by the other person's love#the narrator is also kind of shamefully addicted to being the worshipped idol on a pedestal?#none of that sounds like those positive-coded words you used#but maybe she assumed the narrator was me and therefore didn't want to say anything negative?#(in which case AARRRRGHHHH how do i make people realize that songwriting is ART NOT AUTOBIOGRAPHY???)#or maybe she visualized herself in the place of the narrator?#(in which case: oof. oh dear. but i suppose that's none of my business. i'm not a therapist)#i just get very tired of my parents' inability to accept the existence of bad things in the world sometimes#but i know it's my own problem: i can't assume people will always 'get' what my lyrics are about#once you put your art out in the world you have to accept that is not entirely yours anymore#people will take it and make it their own until you don't even recognize it anymore

I've discovered that fake lyric videos on youtube are apparently a fucking thing now.
Often they're the only lyric video available for a song but they're set to some other music.
That's such horseshit. If I wanted the lyrics separate from the song I'd fucking web search them.
