Dear Charlie,

I’ve been on the verge of tears for hours, just from having a heart so full of love. I’m moved into my new home with my closest friend, a girl so wonderful I couldn’t possibly describe her, and my loving boyfriend, a man who every day shows me such attentive and sweet care that he must be too good to be true. This all must be, because I don’t know what I could’ve done to deserve such a feeling. This is a contentment, such a peace that I have never known. I couldn’t have dreamed this, certainly never imagined it. I couldn’t possibly wish for it, if only because I never knew it existed. But she makes a Seinfeld reference or he takes my hand in the grocery store I’m met with this blanket of peace over my whole world. Things are hard: she has load after load of baggage in her arms, on her back and shoulders that take time to unpack. He has ghosts around every corner, threatening to take me away from him and take himself out of his mind. I struggle to manage the basics of everyday life and hygiene, at times going more than a week without taking a shower and sometimes being active all day without a bite of food. But we all love each other, we’re all trying. Surrounded by so much love, how could I stay blue? I fall more in love day by day. And now, laying on the couch with my cat and our freshly decorated Christmas Tree, I can’t even care that I have to be up at six for a job that’s essentially an exercise in futility. I’m just so thankful to be here. I’m so relieved that I lived this long. Here’s to years of each day being a little better than the last, to each Christmas being the best I’ve ever had. Here’s to this group of people who managed to meet in a whirlwind of chance and happenstance. I hope this dream never ends.
