For the 7th comic. sorta?

It feels so, so so rushed. Like to me personally it's like they really wanted to be done with the comic and invest as little time as possible into it. Like oh here you go, have some fan service, have your happy character ending, be happy with it, be happy with what we give you, bye.

Even though my expectations were low bc I KNEW it was going to be a rushed product, I still didn't expect it to flop THAT HARD for me.

I HAVE TO TALK ABOUT THIS OR I AM GONNA EXPLODE

Bowsers fury is a godsent! Do you know why? Not only because of the music, the graphics or even the chase scenes with the monstrous Bowser. BUT have you ever looked at your sidekick, Bowser Jr. ?

LOOK AT THIS ABSOLUTE GREMLIN!

HE IS A MENACE TO SOCIETY AND WE NEED TO APPRECIATE HIM MORE!!!

He casually beats up a cat while his dad bullies me! Priorities!

But he also shows his softer side too!

He looks so apologetic when his dad shows up. I can hear him say : "I am sorry that my papa is being strange today, he has a tummy ache..." I LOVE THIS DAMN DUDE!!

PLUS POINT: He looks like a fat hamster, instead of a cat!

counter to this: the creator of the songs, Leland Kirby, or The Caretaker, made them as a auditorial representation of a brain slowly succumbing to dementia. And the songs themselves have names that reflect this, with the most popular being “It’s Just A Burning Memory” which is both a line from the song it samples, and part of the effect of dementia. The sample, Heartaches, is played several times in different stages, corrupting and fading, getting abstracted and broken down as the memories do. The repetitive nature of the songs in EATEOT display the repeating patterns of the memories, only a few left at the end. The album ends in silence as even those memories turn to nothing. There is a song quite literally titled “We Don’t Have Many Days”. One title, "The Way Ahead Feels Lonely", is taken directly from a book on dementia by Sally Magnusson. This section from the Wikipedia page on EATEOT does this well:

And that’s only stage 3. There are three songs in stage 4 titled “Stage 4 Post Awareness Confusions”, and one called “Stage 4 Temporary Bliss State”. These clinical names, in contrast to the more poetic names of other songs, are referencing the deteriorating quality of the patient’s brain, and the scientific names for these experiences. Stage 5 is actively dying and corrupted:

Being the auditorial form of the horror that is dementia. Stage 5 also has clinical names, referencing and featuring plaques, synapses, and entanglements. The sound of these songs is much more “noisy”, featuring a lot more of the white noise-esque sounds from before. Record skipping, songs repeating, fog rolling in. Everything is slowly consumed by the void of forgetting. A song is titled “Sudden Time Regression Into Isolation”, displaying the hollow loneliness that comes with dementia. Stage 6 is not any less painful, with the description for it being “Post-Awareness Stage 6 is without description.”, as opposed to the informative descriptions of previous stages. The songs in this final stage sound like they are drowning, full of the static and empty noise that represents the forgetting of previous stages, the loss of memory, and the death of the brain. With names like “A Confusion So Thick You Forget Forgetting”, it’s no surprise people found the dementia theory correct. And when even the creator supports a theory, and admits to that being the reason behind their work, is it even a theory anymore?

I don't know if this has been said before, but Everywhere at the End of Time is one of the most interesting examples of mass suggestibility and psychological priming that I've ever seen.

Some people seem to think that suggestions are only something that can be done with trance, but it's simply a core part of human communication. If you've ever gone into the comments of a youtube video that you liked and read a bunch of positive comments and left liking the video more after, you've been suggested.

If someone has ever anonymously insulted you and altered the way you saw yourself for a while, you've been suggested. If you've ever been a victim of losing "the game" or told your breathing is now manual, you've been suggested.

Suggesting someone is the mere act of summoning an idea in their mind that alters their behavior or perception. Even for a few particular series of hypnotic files, there seems to be intentional campaigns run to make them seem "dangerous" and "too effective" to plant the idea in the mind of anyone who listens to it.

In a weirdly similar sense, the buzz around Everywhere at the End of Time is essentially a self-sustaining feedback loop of suggestion. I am not saying that the album is not an experience or is without artistic merit or doesn't affect someone in any way, necessarily. However, I would be much more surprised if listening to repeated degrading loops of old music for 6 hours doesn't exhaust someone's brain.

The idea of it simulating dementia, however, is complete nonsense. I don't know where the idea started, but it seems to be in that perfect zone of "a little hard to believe, but easy to find 'proof' of as you listen". The moment someone finds themselves exahausted from hours of this album, find their brain challenged in a way it normally isn't, suddenly that seed of an idea planted in their head starts to sprout. And, as it continues and the concrete effects mix with the person's paranoia about the suggestion, it will eventually become as real as if it genuinely was. Over the course of 6 hours, at least.

And, once this "effect" was observed enough, it was given cultural legitimacy through personal testimony en masse and pseudoscientific "video essayists" trying to find these magical elements that simulate fuckin dementia. It's so fascinating to see happen in real time, and an interesting isolated example of how an idea can affect not just persons, but people.

Luckily for us, suggestions have a tendency to fade. Your breathing went back automatic again, after all.

SONIC RANT!1!1!1!

My review for Sonic 3 >>>

Okay, first of all, WHAT!? The story line and character designs are insane!! I love how they created Shadows character and how keanu reeves kept is voice slam or good for whatever reason because of how Shadow’s character really is like.

Gotta add points to having Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles still as the greatest team the whole movie, even when Sonic left them out of his rage. I thought it was so sweet when they threw that little party for Sonic when he first got to earth, I just thought the little references with Tom and Sonic from the first movie was so nice to see and just overall a great start.

Tbh, I thought the part when Sonic and Robotnik were talking about family and how he didn’t have any was a great part on why he acted like a inspired child towards his grandfather when he showed up. I think it was weird but interesting on how they made robotniks grandfather, also Maria’s grandfather…sooo…does that make them siblings-? IDK JUST A THEORY- MATPAT CMERE

The greatest part of the movie to me was the end when both Sonic and Shadow used the emeralds to use their ability TOGETHER to save earth. The slow-mo scenes of them and just the duo coming into a movie was just so awesome for me to see.

MY LEAST FAVORITE PART IS WHEN SHADOW DIED WITH ROBOTNIK!! LIKE I GET ROBOTNIK BUT WHY SHADOW??? HES MY FAVORTIE WHYD YOU HAVE TO DO THAT😭🤚

But to be fair, shadow isn’t apart of Sonic’s actual team. We can see that through old shows like Sonic boom and all them when we have his team full of knuckles, tail, any, rouge and all them, but shadow isn’t apart of it. If he is he’s there as the idea of an episode, or just there in the background for a problem. So even though it’s sad that he was killed, at least he did it to save the world.

CHARACTER RANT

Sonic>>

Of course, the blue-blur is at it again, never sad, and always has the biggest ego. LOLL-

I’m glad they kept his character the same, it definitely was a plus to keep the movie was flopping like most people thought- only because it’s the third movie. I thought it was so sweet and emotional when Sonic near the end was in rage and trying everything to get revenge because shadow hurt Tom. Even though he knew it was wrong in the end, I still couldn’t help but feel that he did that more because he cared, then revenge, and that stood with me through that entire scene. So overall, Sonic in this movie, and just like all the others, didn’t disappoint

Tails>>

Gotta say, I have no complaints, over then he didn’t get enough screen time. Tails gadgets and positive attitude is cute and just fits him perfectly like it always has. I’m always impressed with the development and change in Tails mechanics because it definitely got better from the holograms to the gadgets stopping Robotnik. And the part when the little girl said he looked like detective pikachu was so cute and true I swear😂🤚

Just like Sonic, his character didn’t let me down with him wanting to be on top, and be the smashy smashy guy and it was just funny to hear him again after 2 years. I don’t know if anyone notices but he does speak like everyone else, but he doesn’t speak fully it’s like he takes away the words that aren’t needed…for example

Normal ppl - “So this is love”

Knuckles - “I feel the love”

Soo….yeah

Shadow>>

LEMME JUST SAY. KEENU REEVES DID NOT DISAPPOINT, and his character design and actions were just so cute to me and I love him so much😭😭…If I’m being honest I could probably do another rant but it’s literally just about how much I love shadow. Form him on the motorcycle, to him with Maria, to the flashbacks and change in emotion, to when he was with the emeralds, to him just being him, I love it all. I thought his backstory with Maria really shot through with this movie and I really enjoyed it.

yo I can’t wait 2 or more years for this😭🤚…it was torture waiting for this movie to be finished. But I think it’s gonna be funny and cute to see a bit of Sonic and any shipping and blushing and cute crushing stuff lol.

So overall, I loved this movie and we be watching it on repeat for forever til SONIC 4 BABY!!

I think it's funny that in the actual Odyssey, when Odysseus talks to Elpenors ghost, Elpanor tells Ody he wants to be buried, which means Odysseus would have to go all the way back to Circes island, AND ODYSSEUS DOES!

Warning, spoilers below for Sonic 3!

Saw the movie and my gosh it is good.

I love the the whole family bonding with Knuckles, Tails, and Sonic with Maddie and Tom. They all officially being one family as they are camping, it is so wholesome and beautiful.

The story with Maria and Shadow in the movie universe is interesting take. Their past relationship is very similar to the one in games, however the changes with Maria not being sick and Shadow not being an experiment were a different take.

Seeing Gerald being pure evil was a little weird, but I enjoyed the story still. Seeing two Eggmen was fun and Dr. Stone growing jealous of how close they got and how he felt so left out.

I also loved Shadow snapping with injuring Tom. He sees Sonic’s panic just like his with Maria. That whole scene was perfect.

Love that after Tom being injured leads to Team Sonic into a small fight. However, Knuckles does not lean into the fight and let's Sonic work through his anger as he allows him the location of the Master Emerald.

Seeing the space fight with Sonic and Shadow, ohmegosh one of the best scenes in the movie. The moon conversation is my favorite part, the background is so pretty (know what scene I am wanting a screenshot from) and their whole conversation of changing Shadow’s heart.

Eggman's sacrifice to save the world, like every other movie leads to a cliffhanger of if Eggman will come back or not. His live broadcast saying how much he cared for Dr. Stone, it was so gay.

Love that at the end, Sonic got reunited with Tom. They try to finish the camping trip that got broken at the start. They all hug it out, I always crave family hugs.

THEN THE END CREDITS SCENE!!

They showed Metal Sonic with other mecha sonic droids and then AMY ROSE!!! My girl is going to be in the movie universe!!

The whole thing was such a joy to watch. Most Sonic fans should see this at some point.

the story of kfc fucks me up man. the colonel founded this gas station that expanded to restaurant, the chicken at the restaurant gets popular, makes KFC, it gets big and he sells it to a corporation for a lot of money. realizes he got sorta scammed out of the true worth of kfc so tries to get more money and they refuse and the courts side against him. then he starts a new chicken restaurant claiming the corporate people were not making chicken to his standards and kfc sued him because kfc owned the colonel's likeness and the courts agreed. a corporation owned this man's name and appearance. he wasnt allowed to use either, thus legally erasing his reputation making it harder for him to get taken seriously in any food venture. the man, to the day he died, was going into kfc's and throwing fits because the food had fallen into such bad shape he hated it was associated with him. and it's like, whether he's a bad man or a good man or whatever, a corporation owned his identity, stopped him from using his reputation and identity in other businesses, and refused to acknowledge his outrage that they changed his recipes and still attributed it to him. this is literally the obnoxious plot of a jay and silent bob movie, but it was this dude's real life. what the fuck.

People acting like slavery was good at literally any point in history kinda drive me crazy. There's been many different types of slavery and indentured servitude all throughout human history all with a lot of difference and nuance to all of them and all of them have been bad. Like it's fundamentally wrong to take a person's personal ownership of their own body and life away from them and/or to make them work for no compensation against their will.

Slavery has been a bit different in every society that has practiced it and it is always a different kind of bad with that core immorality of stealing a person's personal autonomy from them at the center of it. People throughout history have always preferred owning themselves to being owned by others. There's no ethical way to own another human being.

Like people talk about slavery in ancient times like more modern examples of slavery should've been more like that. No, they shouldn't have. Because they shouldn't have been practicing slavery at all. Perhaps a third of the Roman Empire's population was enslaved. It was incredibly normalized. Did that make it right? No. That was a third of the population that could legally be killed or sold or raped by their enslavers at any time for no reason. That had no ownership of themselves or their labor.

And to be clear, slavery still exists and it's still bad. The excuse now is just that it's only being done to prisoners. Like all the forms of slavery before it, this justification does not make it right. People being punished for their crimes, whether you think prison time is a justifiable punishment or not, are still people. They need to be given control over what work they apply to do and be paid for their work. This is basic stuff and yet. Forced unpaid labor is still happening. It's all bad. It's all nuanced and and complicated and different and changes with culture and time and it's bad.

Like as someone who loves studying history I hate watching other people who study history try to justify these things. Face your actual history. There's a lot of bad in it. We can't change the past but we sure as hell can stop ignoring it.
