ANARCHY🎸⚡️| Hobie Brown
previous: –seven.
–eight.
THIRD PERSON POV
Pav sang Bad Habit by Steve Lacy for the second time, since he insisted that he deserved an encore, he censored himself for Mayday of course.
Peter and went up and sang Head Over Heels by Tears for Fears. The adorable duo gained the crowd's affection. Mayday clapping offbeat and babbling into the mic anytime her father brought the mic down to her.
It was now someone else's turn.
Miles raised his. "I wann—"
Gwen quickly covered his mouth, noticing that Hobie was trying to convince Sasha to go next.
"Come on doll, no need to be shy." His polished fingers caressed her chin, his eyes staring deeply into hers. "I want to hear that pretty voice."
She avoided his intimidating stare. "O-okay." She stood up and went in front of them. She picked up the mic. "Right Side of My Neck by Faye Webster."
Jess typed it into the search bar on the YouTube app of the large TV. Music started playing and the lyrics were displayed on the screen.
Sasha was nervous— her head down and her free hand fiddling with the hem of her shit.
"You said you can't change your haircut—" Her voice was soft and sweet, delicate even. "But it looks good anyway."
Hobie sat up, being shocked by the sweetness of her voice. Pavitr glanced at Hobie and smiled at his reaction, he thought it was adorable.
Even Miguel was a little caught off guard. Little Mayday giggled and clapped at the girl in front of her.
She gradually raised her head, glancing at everyone. "The right side of my neck still smells like you." She felt like she was on an episode of American Idol.
Hobie's bright smile made her shy away. A smile of her own creeping up on her face. Hobie thought she was the purest girl he's ever laid eyes on— a winsome little thing.
"The right side of my neck still smells like you." She gradually slowed down. "The right side of my neck still smells like you."
The song ended and everyone cheered, well except for Miguel— he clapped twice.
She placed the mic back on the table behind of her and retreated to Hobie's side.
" 's so good, I loved it." He wrapped his arms around her. God, he couldn't keep his hands to himself, she was just perfect to him.
"Thank you, Hobie." She hugged him back.
He rested his head on top of hers, cuddling with her.
"Gosh Hobes, don't squeeze the girl to death." Jess joked while looking at the pair cuddled up on the couch by themselves.
Hobie only brought her closer.
"Me next." Jess slowly got up.
"Nuh uh!" Miles stood up.
A hand was placed on her hip and a brow rose."What the fuck you mean nuh uh?"
"Oh God." Miguel sighed.
Peter immediately covered Mayday's ears. "Hey guys, how about turning off the profanity?"
"Oh shit— I mean..sorry Peter." Jess nervously chuckled.
🌀
Jess did end up getting her turn after Sasha. Miles had no other choice but to let her, with Pav and Gwen telling him "She's literally pregnant." and "That's like not giving up your seat for a pregnant lady."
Jess sang Tyrone by Erykah Badu, of course censoring herself for Mayday.
Gwen and Miles went up together, sharing the mic and singing Not Allowed by TV Girl. The duo censored themselves at different curse words by saying "uhhh" or just laughing. They were so in love and everyone could tell— well except for Miguel in that moment, he was asleep.
Now it was Hobie's turn. It didn't take long for him to decide on a song— Vixen by Ayesha Erotica.
He gave a cheeky smile to Sasha, paired with a wink while singing. Hobie wasn’t the shy type, he was very bold. Dare him to kiss a girl he’s been crushing on and he’d do it in a heartbeat.
“If you want to I can play victim.” His accent was so thick. “I am your vixen.”
Sasha shifted in her as he took slow strides towards her. Everyone watched his actions carefully— except for Miguel, he was asleep, still.
“I can meet you in the car lot.” He bent down to her level, his face just inches away from hers. His hand grabbed hers, placing it on his thigh, slowly guiding it to his crotch. “I’ll spread out on your hot rod.” He leaned back up, towering over her. His hips slowly rolled to the song, smiling down at her, he knew what he was doing to her.
Peter covered Mayday’s eyes. “Wait can he do that? Is this allowed? Aren’t there words to censor?”
“Uhh..” Was all Gwen could utter.
Miles, Gwen, Pavitr, Jessica and Peter all stared in awe.
Sasha was stunned by his actions, looking away in embarrassment, but not pulling her hand away. Hobie chuckled lightly at her reaction, thinking it was the cutest thing ever.
“You guys feel the sexual tension too, right?” Pavitr asked with raised brows.
“Yes.” They all answered.
Hobie’s thumb lightly pressed down on Sasha’s bottom and top lip. “You can touch and feel just don’t get in the way. Lust and drugs, no intuition. Who goes first? Make your decision.”
Sasha stared, she was getting lost in his eyes, it’s as if he had her under a spell. The way she looked at him— he was so hard, she could probably feel it through his pants.
He sang the final line of the chorus and slowly moved the mic from his mouth, crouching down to her level. She began leaning up to meet him—
“Please don’t have sex in front of us.” Miles let out.
Hobie chuckled and pulled away from Sasha, leaving her a little disappointed.
“That was fun!” Pavitr clasped his hands together.
“Uh…very stimulating.” Gwen scratched her head.
Jess and Peter took a selfie with a sleeping Miguel.
Sasha stood up and stretched. She checked her phone to see multiple messages from different people and also noticed that it was extremely late.
“I’ve got work in the morning.” She groaned.
“I’ll take ya home, just give me your number and send the address.” Hobie spun the car keys on his pointing finger.
“O-okay.”

Season 1, Episode 1: Pilot
Ok so I have probably watched this episode more recently than others but it’s still been years and I only remember some things about it so I’m very excited to get started. I also cannot believe I’m getting back into Supernatural in the year of our lord 2024 but let’s do this. Literally just a stream of my thoughts while watching.
- LAWRENCE KANSAS 22 YEARS AGO
- Mary!! This family before it all went wrong 😭
- I forgot the show started with the fire scene and not Sam at Stanford this is so intense!!
- Oh my god Jared is so young
- The opening title but isn’t there usually a noise along with the title? Maybe they add that later
- Of course Jess is dressed up as a sexy nurse for her first scene 🙄
- Don’t get me wrong she’s still really cute I love Jess just forgot how sexy all the women on supernatural had to be all the time
- Oh wow that is a good LSAT score you go Sam
- Oh my god Jensen is so young
- Ugh Dean thinking the best way to greet Sam on a surprise visit after who knows how long is to break into Sam’s house. Is this a game/training exercise they used to do before Sam left? is this just Dean avoiding emotion by being obnoxious? Is it both? Perfect character introduction no notes
- Oh right the rampant misogyny from Dean he was so sleazy when we first met him
- “Dads on a hunting trip and he hasn’t been home in a few days” the words that started it all I’m so nostalgic right now aaaaaahhh
- This convo bw Sam and Dean being the way the writers drop all the key family lore I love it lmao
- Dean doesn’t want to do it alone!!!
- Sam immediately caving
- Jumping into case solving mode!!! We have a ghost!
- In almost two years!! Have they not seen each other in two years or has Dean just not asked him to go hunting in two years??
- Dean’s reaction to hearing Sam is applying for law school and realizing college wasn’t just a phase, he might just never be coming back. And also that he has so much less chance of finding their dad without Sam.
- God poor Jess she didn’t deserve any of this
- Oh this ghost is legitimately creepy I’m feeling creeped out I forgot supernatural was more of an actual horror show in earlier seasons and I love it
- Sam and Dean’s passive aggressive arguing in the impala ❤️
- The cassette tape collection!!
- “I can’t hear you the MUSICS TOO LOUD”
- All of the things we get introduced to about the way the Winchesters operate like the credit card scams and fake IDs it’s just delightful
- Love this goth teen revealing the town ghost story
- “What do they talk about”
- The way Sam takes over the research and it immediately becomes clear that Dean actually does need him. Sam is indispensable to the operation. Honestly I’d like to think if he thought he could do it on his own he would. Despite what he says I don’t think he think he actually wants to ruin Sam’s attempt to escape. Or maybe not maybe he is using this as an excuse to try just one more time to get Sammy back before it’s too late. I’ll have to think about this as the show goes on!
- Why did John solve the case but then not finish dealing with the ghost? I’m guessing this is addressed in later episodes?
- “Jerk” “bitch” 😭
- I had such intense gender envy towards Dean and I did not realize it at all
- Ted Nugent!!
- Sam is so good at getting information from people I love him telling the ghost story I love when he shows that he knows the business as well as anyone
- Dean picking the lock on his handcuffs with a paperclip is something that can be so personal actually
- Sam getting back into it!! A part of this kid just loves hunting so much
- The special effects are fantastic
- “I’m taking you home!!”
- Why don’t they have any salt they know they’re dealing with a ghost Sam and Dean do you not know about salt? Is that not for ghosts? There was literally salt on the floor in their dad’s motel room
- God this ghost story is very sad if you think about it too much
- I’m one episode in and these brothers are already killing me as they discuss how Sam needs to go back for his interview and he was never going to stay longer than two days both of them just break my heart
- “We made a hell of a team back there” 😭
- Also Dean you gotta try being a little less manipulative buddy but I forgive you bc I know your damage
- THE BLOOD DRIPPING ONTO SAM’S HEAD IN A CALL BACK TO THE INTRO!!, NO!!! JESSS!!!, DEAN COMING TO SAVE HIM AGAIN!!!! OH GOD STOP!!!!!!!!
- “We got work to do” 😫
I forgot how genuinely I enjoy this show wow it’s ridiculous and has so many problems but it’s so much fun

Dean’s Self Acceptance & Chekhov's Grenade Launcher
If you aren’t here for a deeper look at episode 12x22, metaphors, and Dean being bi, keep scrolling because we’re going to get into that holy hand grenade - Supernatural’s Grenade Launcher, the weapon that Dean has loved since season one but always got shamed out of using; shamed out of using UNTIL 12x22; an episode literally titled, ‘Who We Are’.
After which Dean loses Castiel and goes into the Widower arc ... ok. ... Cool. I’ll just read nothing into any of that shall I?
(cont under the cut)
Okay first- ‘what grenade launcher? I don’t remember a grenade launcher?’
Dean has a grenade launcher in the trunk that we’ve never seen him use. It's been there at least since episode 1x02. He has assigned a gender to the grenade launcher, calling it ‘she’ like his car. It has appeared multiple times, but one noteworthy time was two episodes ago when Dean was showing his arsenal to Max Barnes, the openly gay witch hunter, in 12x20. Mmmhmm, nothing to see there. Nothing about the slow progression of Dean learning to accept himself. Nothing about Dean opening his trunk up to a canonically gay man.
Dean often wants to use it her, but it’s she’s impractical, it’s she’s not stealthy. The thing is unsafe, and other characters are constantly telling him no, put it back, don’t bring it, don’t use it. (See 12x05)
When Dean lost his memory - when he would have seen no reason NOT to use it, one of the other characters reminded him with a post-it note: this thing that you want to do, that’s a natural instinct for you, don’t do it. (See 12x11)
Okay, now that we have a bit of primer - let’s talk about 12x22. There’s a lot to unpack in this episode.
Mary has been brainwashed and the boys have been locked in the bunker to die. After trying magic and pickaxes (shout out to “goggles? goggles.”), Dean realizes it is time. Time to tear down his big concrete wall with something, "Big, Beautiful, and Dumb" regardless of what the British lady in the bunker says, and he's getting no more resistance from Sam.
"I have had this thing for so long, I have been waiting for the *perfect* moment to use this."
We've been seeing the grenade launcher for 12 seasons, and in how many episodes and they just happen to have Dean finally use it to break OUT by breaking DOWN walls in an episode titled ‘WHO WE ARE’?!
Having torn down that wall with the grenade launcher, it becomes time to deal with other, less physical ones. There are British Men of Letters to fight, Mary is still brainwashed, and there is no magical shortcut that is going to cut through. In a display of how far the characters have come, Sam is becoming a leader in a fight he originally wanted no part in [which the show will drop over and over for no reason] and Dean, well this one’s about Dean for me.
Dean fucked up his leg coming out ... of the bunker, I mean. Finally using the grenade launcher, it hurt, but it didn’t kill him. An earlier Dean would have joined the fight at the men of letters compound anyway, prepared to die in a blaze of glory. However, Dean has changed. Instead he recognizes that going into a fight right now would be idiotic and he stays behind to fight with EMOTIONS instead of brawn. It’s okay to Dean, and even his idea, to not go into the ‘manly’ fight. Dean has become secure in himself enough to volunteer to go into the battle that requires being open and honest about feelings. He initiates the hug and feelings talk with Sam, (only undercutting a lil with a classic 'bitch' 'jerk' call response). No chick flick moments indeed.
So Dean and Sam hug, Sam promises Dean he’ll come back, and we move on to the most important scene in the episode. Dean has broken through mind control with feelings before, with Cas in season 8 episode 17 when we had the infamous ‘We need you. I need you’ moment (though apparently Jensen Dean was still guarded enough that this was not an ‘I love you’.) but this time Dean goes into Mary’s psyche; Mary who has been a stand in all season for who Dean was emotionally before his character growth.
The viewer is expecting some big declaration of love, that’s how dean broke through last time. But no. That’s not what we get.
Dean finally lets out his true feelings. About his childhood. About John. About Mary’s death. About everything that has ever happened to Sam. The walls are coming down. Dean is honest with someone about the resentment he feels (which should be directed at John) about the responsibility that was put on him as a child. In sharp contrast to his reaction to Mary’s guilt at the beginning of the season, of Dean as the perpetual caretaker, now Dean gets to acknowledge his own feelings, that he does blame Mary and her deal for what they went through. Watch this scene. He hates her and he loves her. okay.
Yes, Dean got to use the grenade launcher, but it wasn’t in a climax of some epic battle. It was in the ramp up - the beginning of an episode.
No, the climax of the episode was Dean comin to terms with feelings the character has had since season one. We’ve been looking at this grenade launcher for 12 years, but we’ve been witnessing Dean’s feelings here for just as long & Dean takes his emotional predecessor, Mary, along with him.
I will skip past the fight scene between him and ketch - which is actually impressive given the horse tranquilizer he’d been given. Instead, I want to get to 12x23, to his reunion with Castiel.
Dean has used the grenade launcher. Dean has accepted himself and admitted something to himself that you can’t even really see until you look back at this episode’s placement retrospectively. Dean is no longer trying to fight with Castiel, he just wants to help him. Castiel heals Dean’s major knee injury and Dean, well we get an interesting jacting joice:
in fact, the moment continues with a lil half smile and Dean looking down and checking his knee, I’m just having trouble getting a gif or a video to make one from. Throughout the entire episode Cas routinely addresses Dean specifically despite being in a group at all times. Cas later makes a run at Lucifer and Sam wrestles a yelling concerned Dean away and back through the rift, just as Dean wrestled him away from Jess in the pilot.
At the end of this episode Cas is killed in front of Dean, who for the first time doesn't continue on in the fight, instead dropping to his knees. This all flows right into Dean’s intense season 13 widower arc. Dean feels Cas’s death in a way we have never seen him grieve before.
Ho.ly.Shit.
"Who We Are".
It gets another use later in the series in the same episode where Dean also wears a live action version of the pink sleeping gown he wore in scoobynatural, but we’ll get to that later.

So for the most part, I outright reject the finale. But I do think, in light of the whole "Jimmy was supposed to be in the bar, and Dean was disappointed by that because his perfect heaven would have Cas in it" just makes me all the more convinced that the final episode was some kind of djinn dream. Like.... There's no other explanation in my opinion. If Dean's perfect heaven was supposed to have Cas, and he tragically gets faked out by Jimmy (????? Why tf would jimmy be there anyway), it just proves that it's not ACTUALLY heaven. That, along with he El Sol beer he's drinking is all the evidence I need. I think after 15x19, Dean and Sam got whammied by some monster, and are stuck in a hallucination, and that's what we're seeing. (My headcanon is that it's actually The Empty doing it, because it knows if it doesn't keep Dean and Sam occupied and spinning in circles, they'll invade the Empty to save Cas. So its trying to prevent that) :)
Hello, anon friendo! I am gonna start by offering the socially distanced version of a high five, because yeah... There is just so much to unpack here, and you provided such a succinct and all-encompassing series of statements to start from. Thank you!
*flings open array of questionable suitcases*
First off, Congrats on having rejected the finale. I know a lot of folks are still struggling with that one, for many reasons. But you have hit upon so many of the points I’ve been trying to make about the finale since it aired. I’d just like to start with some of the assumptions I’ve heard from folks about the finale that make it impossible for me to consider it fully honestly canon. Because so much about it just makes no goshdang sense... like... not at all...
One of the biggest issues I have surrounding the reception of the finale in parts of fandom is that it portrayed a “happy ending.” The show itself spent the entire final season telling us that a gravestone marked Winchester was not and never would be a happy ending (thank you Becky Rosen-- words I never thought I’d say, but honestly and most sincerely meant). Let’s break this down a bit.
Starting from the assumption that “heaven was fixed” so that characters could have true free will there, making it satisfying in any way that Dean died so young and never got to truly experience happiness during life, I would like anyone who has adopted this attitude to then explain Kansas the band. I mean... explain that in any satisfactory canon-compliant way. (hint: you can’t. it makes zero sense in canon, if heaven is truly reformed and “happy” with everyone in possession of free will.)
Which brings me to Misha’s comments about Jimmy being in the Roadhouse. Why, if heaven were truly fixed, would Jimmy ever in a bazillion years attend a party for Dean Winchester? If Heaven were truly a “happy” ending for Dean, why introduce this element of eternal tragedy and heartbreak to his heaven experience? Why taunt him with the eternal loss of Cas-- even if you don’t think he reciprocated Cas’s romantic feelings, he was canonically the best friend Dean ever had, and being forced to exist forever in a place where he had everyone else he ever cared for except for Cas? Is frankly horrific.
How the actual fuck is that a happy ending, in any sense of the word?
How is this the sort of heaven that Dean would’ve made for himself before it was “fixed?” At least in the memorex heaven, he could’ve lived in oblivious peace with Cas, even if it was always just his own memories and not ~actually Cas~. I honestly think that would’ve been happier than the abject tragedy of what we did get, and what we would’ve gotten had the original script played out.
All of this kind of makes me wonder if they ever even actually defeated Chuck. Like... it feels more like Dean got pulled into the Empty at that moment with Cas and Billie, and everything else after that point was the Empty’s endless experience of sorrow and despair we knew it subject its charges to. So that’s one potential for what could’ve actually happened. I mean, everything about the finale was sorrow and despair, you know? Dean didn’t even get to enjoy his pie at a pie festival because Sam smashed in in his face. How is any of it happy, in any way?
Because if that was actually heaven, there wasn’t actually any free will (because why tf would Kansas the band have chosen to put on that concert? why tf would Jimmy have been there, just to torment Dean with the taunt of Cas returning to him only to have that hope snatched away again? It’s cruel. It’s, in fact, a source of intense despair).
The djinn theory could also work, and I’ve read some excellent fix-it fic using that as a premise. But that doesn’t really explain what happened to Jack (and Amara, since she was in there with them) after hoovering up Chuck’s power, you know? I think the simplest explanations in canon are that Chuck actually won via the unified power of Light and Dark being transferred into Jack and effectively using him as a vessel. With Sam and Dean convinced they’d won, they effectively stopped resisting Chuck’s story for them, and using Jack’s understanding of humanity and the Winchesters specifically, Chuck finally was able to implement a version of his story that the Winchesters would just waltz into without thinking it was supernaturally influenced at all. Going bigger and bigger with monsters and cosmic troubles hadn’t worked, but going so small Sam and Dean would barely even notice the influence-- even with the incongruous reappearance of a vampire that appeared in their lives once, for like two whole minutes 15 years ago, and an unsolved case from the journal from more than 30 years ago that John had never even linked to vampires at all.
At this point, I need to mention that I’m watching 10.23 as I type this up. An episode in which we confront the Mark, along with Death, and Dean’s despair, where he learns a version of the truth (but by no means the full truth, or even accurate truth in some respects) about Chuck’s Story, Amara/The Darkness, etc. That would unfold more fully over the next five seasons. And what was the case Dean took in this episode? Vampires. LOLOL omg this show is nothing if not horrifically consistent, yes?
So because of this, I went haring off through my own blog looking for a post I made a long time ago about the symbolism of how various monsters are used on this show (because again, consistency). I got sidetracked by other posts in my monsters tag, including this from after 15.09 aired, which feels particularly awfully relevant. This was my reaction to Chuck’s Story he showed Sam in that episode, about what the future would look like should he successfully trap Chuck with a Mark, and which... yeah is basically exactly thematically consistent with what we saw in the finale, right down to a cheesy twist on vampires. Read the whole post right here, but this is the part that reached up and punched me in the face:
this is how Dean personally reacts when he loses Cas. We know how he reacts when he loses anyone else– think about what he did when Charlie died. He went on a murder rampage against the Stynes for killing her. When Mary died he broke some furniture and went full bore toward both resurrecting her and stopping Jack. But without Cas, Dean loses the will to fight. Sam has… always been different. He referenced Jess in 15.04 to remind us of how he was after she died in the pilot episode. Just like John, he picked up the revenge mission and ran with it. But for Dean, Cas is different. Without Cas… Dean gives up.
Because... Dean gave up. Sure, he and Sam weren’t overrun by vampires in the end. Chuck knew they’d never stop fighting the monsters, one way or another. The only way to get Dean to give up is something Chuck hadn’t quite figured out yet... maybe not until after 15.17, after confronting Cas in the hallway of the bunker, after absorbing Amara’s power, knowledge, and perspective on Dean.
Chuck needed Dean to give up, and honestly? Pushing Billie to clear him off the table and send him (and Cas, that pesky angel who never did what he was told) to the Empty would’ve been a direct way to deal with that... pretty much akin to having one sibling locked in a cage forever, yes?
Also, still looking through my monsters tag, I’m reminded of 14.15, and still cannot differentiate the version of Heaven in 15.20 from what was done to the people of that town. This... is not... paradise. This is actively what Dean has been insisting is the OPPOSITE of paradise since like… 4.22… No ending where Dean was a “Stepford bitch in paradise” ever had the possibility of being “happy,” at the core of things, and this “fixed” version of Heaven just doesn’t hold up to any degree of inspection. Something is seriously wrong here. https://mittensmorgul.tumblr.com/post/183465650390/so-can-we-talk-about-this-monster-of-the-week-for
And since I was unable to find the post I wrote who knows how long ago about Monsters and how they’re symbolically used on Supernatural to represent larger themes in the episode, I’ll just attempt to sum up what Vampires have been used for. Revenge. Vampires are always, in some way connected to themes of revenge.
(and hooray, I found at least a post adjacent to the one I’ve spent the last four hours trying to find... https://mittensmorgul.tumblr.com/post/187207052080/i-obviously-did-not-think-this-through, where I mention that shapeshifters are about revealing hidden truths (mostly about Dean since most shapeshifters are connected to Dean), zombies are about grief and the inability to move past it.)
So why... why at the end of their road is the monster that comes after them-- literally FOR REVENGE for something that had never been blamed on Sam or Dean to begin with, from season 1, directly connected to John’s revenge mission and the first time they learned about the Colt AND the first time they learned in canon that Vampires were even real... like... this feels very specifically like some kind of layers-of-meta levels of shade on them, you know? Vampires are for revenge, so what vengeance exactly is being visited upon Sam and Dean in this episode? If not Chuck’s entire story for them itself?
So yeah, 100% agree, something is incredibly rotten in the finale. And I am sick to effing death of people trying to convince us that anything about this was “good” or “happy” or “satisfying” in any way. Or even “how it was always supposed to end” with Dean dead bloody, as if the entire back half of the series hadn’t been suggesting that a true win was the subversion of all of Chuck’s story for them, and Dean finally being able to have his chosen family all alive, happy, and chilling on a beach somewhere watching the sunset. Nothing will ever convince me that the ending portrayed in 15.20 wasn’t exactly how Chuck thought he “won,” rendering it entirely irrelevant to the rest of canon, unless all of canon was ultimately the tragedy we’d been encouraged to believe would be firmly defeated in the end.
Folks, you can’t have it both ways.
#spn 15.20#chuck's process#if this was the 'happy' ending for dean they sure did fail big time to make it actually happy!#it makes me feel sick thinking that dean's happy heaven ending was more like an eternal pit of torment#like actively tormenting him and taunting him with the fact that cas was truly gone forever#like wow they went all the fuck out to make it clear that even in heaven#dean would never be allowed to respond to cas's declaration of love#like... it's the most hurtful and hateful thing the show could possibly have done to us#and it still fucks me up knowing there's people who think this heaven was a 'good' ending for dean#like... fuck that entirely and with extreme prejudice#i feel like i have not been emphatic enough about my absolute hatred for this episode in these tags#but sadly there are limitations to expressing the actual feelings i'm feeling in the english language#sometimes the only effective word for these feelings involves velociraptor screeching#Anonymous

wait wait wait can you explain more how to be funny and what makes humor work preferably a la essay form if you’re up to it. I’m reading a comic and the jokes aren’t sticking so I’d love to be able to properly be able to figure out what makes some joeks works but others not so I articulate what I hate about it
This response got kinda long so i’m sticking it under a readmore. TL;DR: I don’t think I can tell you how to be funny and what makes comedy work, I don’t think anyone can tell you that. However, I can give you a bunch of advice and guiding questions on how to go about figuring out these answers for yourself
Honestly I don’t think that’s something I’m capable of doing this in any sort of reasonable amount of time. It’d either have to be something really short and really general like what I wrote in the rvb0 post or it’d have to be incredibly long and incredibly specific where I pick specific good and bad examples of comedy and break down what I think works and what I think doesn’t. It’d take a lot of slow and meticulous work I don’t really have the time for, and I’m also not sure how helpful it would be, because once again, comedy is super super subjective and I don’t want to risk overemphasizing my own tastes/general observations as any sort of gospel.
the best advice i can give you would be to try and properly figure out for yourself why these jokes aren’t sticking! because processing something as Funny is much more of an innate reaction than, like, engaging Cerebrally with Narrative Developments it can be much harder to actually realize why something works or doesn’t. I’m going to start by sticking in what I said in my original RVB0 post here in case anyone is reading this without context.
A rule of thumb I personally hold for comedy is that, when push comes to shove, more specific is always going to be more funny. The example I gave when trying to explain this was this:
saying two characters had awkward sex in a movie theater: funny
saying two characters had an awkward handjob in a cinemark: even funnier
saying two characters spent 54 minutes of 11:14's 1:26 runtime trying out some uncomfortably-angled hand stuff in the back of a dilapidated cinemark that lost funding halfway through retrofitting into a dinner theater: the funniest
The more specific a joke is, the more it relies on an in-depth understanding of the characters and world you’re dealing with and the more ‘realistic’ it feels within the context of your media. Especially with this kind of humor. When you’re joking with your friends, you don’t go for stock-humor that could be pulled out of a joke book, you go for the specific. You aim for the weak spots. If a set of jokes could be blindly transplanted into another world, onto another cast of characters, then it’s far too generic to be truly funny or memorable. I don’t think there’s a single joke in RVB0 where the humor of it hinged upon the characters or the setting.
Then there’s the issue of situational comedy and physical comedy. This is really where the humor being ‘tacked on’ shows the most. Once again, part of what makes actually solid comedy land properly is it feeling like a natural result of the world you have established. Real life is absurd and comical situations can be found even in the midst of some pretty grim context, and that’s why black comedy is successful, and why comedy shows are allowed to dip into heavier subject matter from time to time, or why dramas often search for levity in humor. It’s a natural part of being human to find humor in almost any situation. The key thing, though, once again, is finding it in the situation. Many of RVB0’s attempts at humor, once again, feel like they would be the exact same jokes when stripped from their context, and that’s almost never good. A pretty fundamental concept in both storytelling in general but particularly comedy writing is ‘setup and payoff’. No joke in RVB0 is a reward for a seemingly innocuous event in an earlier scene or for an overlooked piece of environmental design. The jokes pop in when there’s time for them in between all the exposition and fighting, and are gone as soon as they’re done. There’s no long term, underlying comedic throughline to give any sense of coherence or intent to the sense of humor the show is trying to establish. Every joke is an isolated one-off quip or one-liner, and it fails to engage the audience in a meaningful way.
When you see a joke that doesn’t land - try mentally rewriting it. Is there anything you could do to make it funny? Can you bring to mind any similar jokes from other pieces of media that you did like? How does the joke effect the pace of the story - is it an awkward and unnatural pause within the flow of events/dialogue? Is the joke well implemented - that is to say, regardless of how ‘objectively’ funny or unfunny the actual meat of the thing is, is it coming from the right source and directed at the right target? Does it add to your understanding of events/characters/setting, do nothing in this department, or does it detract from/contradict them? Is it immersion-breaking (and if so, is this intentional or meaningful?) or does it pull you deeper into the world you’re being shown?
Once you start asking these questions of both media you like and media you dislike you’ll start to recognize patterns in what lands and what doesn’t, and I don’t think they’re questions anyone else can really answer for you.
I think it also is a question of whether comedy is the intended final destination of a piece of media or just a step along the way. Media that exists solely as a vehicle for jokes is going to have comedy that looks very different than the comedy present in media that exists for heavy narrative purposes but includes moments of levity.
Here are two examples of shows I think are really good and are also about as different in concept, execution, and intent as humanly possible: phineas and ferb and breaking bad.
Breaking bad is probably the most emotionally taxing television experience I’ve had in my life. I mean this as a compliment. breaking bad is supposed to be grueling to watch. It also has jokes in it. the scenes that are funny server to really meaningfully increase the immersion, not break it, and they do this by bringing a very realistic sense of human interaction that grounds the high-stakes melodrama into something that looks a hell of a lot more like reality. There’s one scene in particular i think does just such a great job of exemplifying this. here we’ve got jesse having dinner with walt and his wife while they are, as always, fighting with each other viciously and creating such a horrible and suffocating miasma of tension over the entire narrative, and jesse is trying to break some of this tension very poorly.
youtube
Then, in literally the complete opposite vein, you’ve got the phineas and ferb episode ‘lets take a quiz’ which i consider incredibly formative in the development of my sense of humor. The entire Bit of literally this whole episode is that they’re doing this terrible quiz with no rules that makes no sense and candace is trying to win but nobody knows how to play this game.
youtube
Phineas and ferb is an episodic children’s cartoon that deals almost exclusively in unreality and the absurd, and so this kind of bit works here.
Saying ‘whats good comedy’ is really hard because it’s just like saying ‘whats good narrative’. There’s no one set of criteria; it boils down to what is the intention of your comedy, and how successfully were you able to act on these intentions?
This really got away from me sorry I am working on extremely little sleep i hope this helped even a little bit. My final piece of advice is: go watch hot fuzz. seriously. go watch hot fuzz (2007) dir. edgar wright and look at how the jokes in that movie are because theyre perfect and i love hot fuzz and it’s fucking funny

13 Reasons Why | Season Four Review ( SPOILERS )
i just finished watching season four, and it’s got me DEEP in my feelings. so, i’m going to review it and give my opinions. first i’m going to do main characters, then the side characters, and then my overview of the whole season. i’m going to keep it as short as i can!
MAIN CHARACTERS
clay | clay has and probably always will be my favorite character. this season finally addresses some of his mental issues and his trauma. i feel like all of the other main characters forget that clay went through everything too and he also has some serious issues, so it was nice to see him talk about it. he was kind of frustrating though. this season there was a severe lack of communication between him and others. like dude, tell your damn therapist you see dead people!! he was also a dick to justin throughout the whole season, and i did NOT dig that. overall, though? i still love him. he had an interesting plot. he had a really good glo up though 10/10 he was hot this season.
justin | HOW DARE THEY KILL HIM OFF. he was fucked with all season. first he and jessica break up, then she starts seeing diego, then clay starts being a dickhead, then his mom dies, then he relapses, and then he fucking dies!! what the fuck!! he didn’t deserve this after all of his character development. he and clay can never be happy.
jessica | every season her and justin do the ‘will they wont they’ thing and i think it was over done and unnecessary. jessica was kinda immature in s4, especially when justin broke up with her. i do love her, but i got frustrated with her at times. she wasn’t the worst though. her friendship with ani was cute, and she is still the baddest bitch on the block. her and bolans relationship was one of my favorite things tbh.
ani | surprisingly pleasant. i’m really glad the writers managed to save her character. i still think she’s not really needed, but i didn’t hate her at all this season, and i actually managed to like her. her hair had a major glo up like damn sis. i loved the hairstyle with the bangs!
alex | BABY BOY. i loved him so much this season. alex has never really annoyed me, but this season i especially loved him. after getting messed with every season i appreciated seeing him thrive. i loved seeing more zalex (even if its just a friendship but hey they kissed!!) and he and charlie were SO cute. some of his relationships were a little rushed, but i could still enjoy them.
zach | i used to adore zach up until this season. he just kinda showed up drunk and then never stopped. there was no build up. he had some scenes where i cheered for him, and he does have some badass and fun scenes. he’s the one main character that annoyed me a lot though, which is sad because he used to be one of my favs.
tyler | he deserves the world. i think tony and clay were right to suspect he was up to something, because he was acting suspicious, but i’m glad he wasn’t doing anything bad. i’m so happy he’s getting more comfortable in his own skin. his and winston’s friendship was cute while it lasted, and him and estela were hella cute too.
tony | meh. he didn’t really do much this season tbh. i still love him, but i feel like the last two seasons haven’t been giving him enough screen time. i also was disappointed that his friendship with clay isn’t really shown anymore. he was best in seasons one and two.
SIDE CHARACTERS
winston | i feel like i’m alone when i say that i love winston. i can understand the disappointment though. the trailers made him out to be a big threat and then didn’t really do anything with it. i also feel like the only one who didn’t care about him and alex? they were fine together, but i don’t see the chemistry that others seem to. him saying he loved alex was wack. winston and monty hit different than any other relationship on this show and i’m not gonna apologize for saying that. i cried like a baby during the prom episode. it’s bs that he apparently only knew the version of monty that he wanted to see, when he was the only one who really knew monty the person and not monty the jock or monty the bully. winston was the only one to know monty in an intimate, vulnerable state. winston was done dirty this season and he deserved better.
monty | he gets his own category because he may be dead but he was a prominent character. i hate that i get really emo about monty but i do. he was an awful person, and i’m not gonna make excuses for him because he doesn’t deserve them, but i just get really emo and sad about him and i’m not sure why. maybe because the show redeemed bryce (bleh) but didn’t allow monty the same luxury. i really wish he wasn’t dead. they didn’t need to kill him off at all. the plot wouldn’t really change much if he had been alive. clay could’ve still seen him bc he felt guilty, and winston still could’ve gone to the school.
estela | i love her so much!! she is mourning her brother but understands what he did was gross and disgusting. she didn’t really do much but i still appreciated her. her and tyler were cute.
diego + the football team | diego was kinda shitty and he fucked with clay when he didn’t need to but i don’t think he’s a bad person at all, and i believe he genuinely cared about jessica and wanted her happy. he was kinda used as a plot device for jess and justin so he didn’t really do much after the first few episodes besides be there to make justin jealous. the football team was actually kinda fun this season and i didn’t hate them. kinda asses but not in the way the past ones were.
caleb | caleb and tony are perfect for each other but caleb is also too good for tony tbh. they’re cute though and i’m happy they have each other, but shit tony doesn’t listen to him. caleb doesn’t do much in the show but he’s cool.
the parents | i’m only gonna speak in detail about one parent and that’s mister bill standall. idk i just kind of love him and i think he’s an amazing father to alex. every time he kisses alex on the head my heart goes soft because it’s what alex deserves. the whole standall family is super cool and i like peter’s reaction to alex dating charlie. clay and justin’s parents try really hard and they love both their boys though. jessica’s parents also love her very much and i love her dad. we only see ani’s mom once this season and i love her even if she’s strict. mrs. walker is cool and i wish the best for her.
gary bolan | he and jessica have really funny interactions. you can tell he does actually really like her and values her input but he also thinks she’s overbearing and it’s amazing. he sucks sometimes but you can tell he’s trying.
the dean guy and also that one police guy | i don’t remember their names and i don’t care enough to look it up. the dean guy was kind of a dick sometimes but woah i was not expecting the gay from him. i thought the police guy was awful at first but he grew on me when i realized he wasn’t out to fuck with tony.
scott | he was in one scene and it wasn’t even really him but i love him so i’m gonna mention him. 10/10 stole the show.
charlie | i saved my favorite for last. CHARLIE IS BABY. he literally has done nothing wrong in his entire life. the sweetest boyfriend. not closeted and isn’t afraid to show affection. would literally do anything for alex. his and alex’s relationship was a b i t rushed but i enjoyed it nonetheless. i don’t know how people could prefer alex and winston over charlie and alex literally they’re so cute and charlie is the best.
OVERVIEW
i think this season was pretty good. a bit fucky here and there, but overall a lot better than season three. i do wish some things were different, and i don’t know why there weren’t thirteen episodes because that would’ve helped slow things down a little so some things didn’t feel too rushed, but eh whatever. this season tackled some interesting topics like mental illness, AIDS, sexuality, and police brutality. i was super stressed out watching but in a good way. i do wish some things were done differently. that’s what fanfiction is for i suppose. i’m gonna give this season a 7/10. it was good and i enjoyed it, though i think some decisions were questionable and i think there should’ve been a happy ending for all of the main characters since they’ve been put through literal hell. please interact if you share the same opinions or if you think differently because i would love to discuss further!! i feel like i have a mixture of both popular and unpopular opinions about this season, so i’d love to hear about what anyone else thinks.

Season 7 episode 1: The Bad Batch thoughts!!
Spoilers!!
Captain Rex made me so emotional
Him sitting alone hurt. So awesome how this show takes the time to show these things. I was a bit surprised at Cody’s reaction but I guess he knows thats the thing Rex needs and not a comforting hand in that moment. I’m just really happy seeing Rex completely out of his element! Unlike Umbara, he really is alone here so we get to see him act on is own!
Kix design change is deliberate y’all I KNOW it I can feel it!!
I like Jesse! Him not being attached to Fives or another higher official was nice cause he actually got to be his own a bit. For me at least, I’ve never really been able to catch his personality. I’m really glad he still clearly likes (as we see in the episode lol) Rex, I know there are many headcanons that he wouldnt after umbara. But Im a protective fav so I just want people to like Rex :D
They better release the bad batch theme on iTunes or ima fight someone
I like Hunter!!! I’m surprised! He wasn’t as annoying as I expected with the backlash I’ve seen! He was the nicest of them lol!! He’s a tired dad okay? I had no idea what his voice would be but I really like the quiet one DBB chose! Separates him from others.
When Cody got hurt I was stressed but then felt stupid cause I know he ain’t dead but MAN I hate seeing any of them in pain!
Rex immediately going to save him hurt. 😫You know the thought “not again, please.” crossed his mind.
Wrecker lifting the whole ship made me LOL The whole fight was awesome. I like how they fight like a simulation??? Idk it gave me Domino squad vibes.Like these guys are the perfect unit.
Rex comforting broken cody off to the side made me soft. and then_
DUDE THE WHOLE ALTERCATION
“YOU CANT TALK TO REX LIKE THAT” the moment I realized I’m Jesse cause I said the SAME THING
WRECKER STOP YOU STRONG AND CAN BREAK HIS NECK NO
IDK WHAT KIX DID BUT CLEARLY HE AINT CUT OUT FOR FIGHTING EITHER LOL
I just love how everyone was yelling at wrecker choking Jesse like a dog with a toy “Put him down! Now! No! Bad!”
😂
Rex seems so small rn idk why. Like him going “I’m in charge” he felt smaller.
I like hunter listening to Rex. It’s a nice change of pace to the old “We don’t have to listen to some reg” schtick
Just goes to show how awesome the writers are, they aren’t gonna waste our time with that stuff. And Rex going “lets do it your way” ugh
That WHOLE INFILTRATING SCENE
Bro
Skipping to the part I know y’all want from me.
HEARING ECHO
Hearing my husband
That hurt
That hurt good y’all
Rex face is like trying not to believe it but that long take of him staring as echos voice becomes clearer. That freaking hurt. It hurt real good. god... Can you imagine him just trapped and getting this connection from somewhere in the galaxy. the smallest bit of hope he can
SAVE HIM
I never watched the incomplete episodes so I don’t know if the bad batch are in the next one but I sure hope they are!!!
AH!!!
My only extra thought is not quite a fan of the paleness of the bad batch but I guess I get that they are supposed to be a literal defective group so it adds to the sickly nature they have. But still. I still am laughing cause Rambo clone is real.

Hey friends!
I found King Falls AM at a time in my life where I felt scared, hopeless and alone. I didn’t want to be here at all, and I thought for the most part I’d never be happy again. I’m still most of those things, but every day in King Falls makes that a little easier to be okay with. I thought long and hard about what I could manage for this, but most of all, I just wanted to say thank you. So. Here goes.
Thank you for Sammy Stevens, who is my favourite kind of character. He’s sassy and pretty and humble and full of love.Thank you for his cynicism and snark, but also for his ability to push aside his own beliefs and ideas and wants when it matters. Also, for letting him Suplex Grisham, because that was pretty neat! Thank you for the way he relates to the people around him, but especially to Lily. For a character who makes mistakes and actually tries to learn from them - he doesn’t always get it right, but he tries, and that’s so important. He’s made me laugh, he’s made me cry, he’s made me want to scream. I adore his backstory, it means more to me than I can say, but also thank you for the way you handled the events around 75. It was so meaningful. I love him with everything I have, which is why it hurts me to thank you for his pain, which is so unbelievably relatable to my own. For my own hurt that comes out of his mouth. The kind of hurt that transcends circumstances. I was in a dark place before this show, and parts of me are still there, but watching Sammy grow, and change and heal has meant everything to me. It gives me hope for better days. For Sammy, and for me too. Thank you for giving him the courage to stick around, and for giving him hope. Thank you for Benny Arnold. Who I can’t write about coherently without bursting into tears. He’s messy and flawed and just absolutely gorgeous. Seeing him grow through the years has been an absolute joy, but most of all, I love his ability to remain untainted by the horrors he’s been through. He’s still got the same heart, and it’s the best heart there is. I love his passion, his hope, his resilience. His belief in everybody around him. He remains unapologetically himself through everything, and I adore him. He is The Good, and I’m so glad we have him. Noah brings such complexity to him too, and I can listen a thousand times to a single episode and continue to feel all the things.
Thank you for Emily. For making a strong, intelligent, badass women who’s also soft and desirable and loving. For letting her write her own story and for letting her be more than a prize to be won. She’s so good natured and considerate and thoughtful, and even in her worst moments she never loses that. Every moment she appears is wonderful and Jess KILLS IT every time! I’ve especially enjoyed phase two Emily, as her relationships with other characters become more integral to the story. Thank you for speaking out against the Frickards of the world through her, because it hurts and it’s hard but it’s so important. Using your audience for good means so much. Thank you for the thoughtfulness and care with which you consistently apply to sensitive subjects. For day-to-day happiness, for happy places and for months of quiet kindness without ever being asked.
Thank you for Jack Wright. For the reminder to choose love (even when it’s hard. Maybe especially when it’s hard.) For the reminder that we’re all worthy of love, in all its forms. The affirmation that nobody corners the market on sadness, but also that we don’t always have to go it alone. That grief is universal, and that’s not always a bad thing. For quiet moments of humanity in the midst of absolute tragedy. For vulnerability, for heartbreak and moving forward together. For forgiveness and acceptance, and humility.
Thank you for Dwayne Libbydale, who’s a special kind of chaos. I am again lost for words, but I love him, I love him, I love him.
Thank you for Pete Escobar Ed Edwards Yardboy Myers and his funyuns and disdain and snark (even if me saying I love him means he’ll never listen to this show again.) Thank you for PHENOMENAL journalist Lily Wright, who is an absolute delight! She feels like the personification of grief, loss and trauma, but at the same time so, so real. Her reluctant acceptance of King Falls as home is beautiful, and I hope she gets ALL THE HUGS really soon. She’s not afraid to speak her mind, even if it means alienating the people she loves. Her shaky vulnerability with Sammy, Ben and Emily is so good, and I’m so excited to see where the future of Lily Wright lays. King Falls Chronicles was some KILLER story telling, and Candace was the icing on the cake. The acting chemistry she has with everybody is absolutely on point. I’m so glad we get to keep Lily. That she’s found home. Thank you for #DeputyDead. His unwavering optimism and willingness to see the good in everything and everybody is absolutely wonderful.
Thank you for Debbie and RoboTim, who I still believe in, despite all evidence pointing to ‘don’t do that.’ Thank you for Maggie Masterson, an Actual Icon. And for our Man’s Man’s Man and his lil Kingsie Bab. For Regan who is a sweetheart and Chet who I hate to love.
Thank you for villains that fill me with white hot rage. Who’s actions are explained, but never excused. For Frickards and Gundersons and ShadowFUCKS and HFB3’s and Leland Hills and Ernies and Grishams. They’re different levels of despicable, and I adore hate them all.
Thank you for ridiculous caricatures ; the Gwendolyns and the Cynthias and the Jacob Williams. Thank you for SPORTSBALL (CHOP. DAT. WOOD.) and WALL CRABS and GARBAGE BEARS and DANGER NOODLES and every other ridiculous Benism.
Thank you for Teareal and serendipity and redrum roses and for the inability to see the word ‘ghost’ and not correcting it to APPARITION. Thank you for Dan & Larry and boy band battles and Doyle’s Conspiracy Cavern and Devon Hamptonframptonshire. For Golden Owl, Finn and Gator Jack and Alvin and every other ridiculously loveable character you’ve created. Some of them barely last longer than an episode, but their chaos will fuel me for a lifetime.
Thank you for Mary Jensen, who is the mom I wish I had. All moms are champs, but Mary is perfect. Thank you for Betty and Nancy and Loretta and Marigold. All who I expect deserve the praise they’re given.
Thank you for Herschel and Cecil, who are cranky old bastards and who probably shouldn’t fit together, but they do so effortlessly. The care and compassion they have for each other is inspiring, and I too hope to have a friend like that someday. Trent is wickedly skilled, and I’m sure he hears it so often but!!!!
Thank you for BE WELL BUDDIES and silly puns in the titles, and short jokes and RoboTim mixups and Science Institute break-ins with vigilante superheroes and mysterious callers. Thank you for love through overnight oats and moustache talk and non-binary pals. For a willingness to grow and change and learn and laugh. For the electrolocaust and my favourite threesome and for sammiversarys. For Ben posting Sammy’s bail, and heart-to-hearts in jail cells. For stupid bets and bensplosions and the fucking kickball story. For creepy dreams and technical terms, for badly timed BEEPS for awkward flirting and on-air confessions. For idiots who can’t keep secrets, let alone not talk about them on air for more than five minutes. For missing hikers and weird shadow tornados and notebooks and shooting down UFOs and death by damnation. For the SECOND BEST small town in American Celebration, for Christmas Gifts for Ben’s Mom and Jupiter Jaundice. For Ben’s monopoly tactics and Sammy’s audible eye rolls, for prophecies and ‘legend-has-it’s and for love and love and love.
Thank you for the mysteries, and for the constant need for MORE. You do cliffhangers so wonderfully, and I feel like I’ve never anticipated anything so keenly in my life. Tim Jensen, The Dark, Merv, Death by Damnation, The Rainbow Lights, The Zombies.
Thank you for Cameron Chambers??? How does he do it?? I have no idea, but I hope he keeps doing it. Especially all them Christmas BOPS. Legendary. Jazz-Hands worthy!
Thank you for making Zombies the F- plot.
Thank you for the Eagle Screech in the DALE’S DOLLAR TREE ad. And all the other ads too, I guess. I don’t understand The Fucky List, but thanks for that too! Thank you for JACK IN THE BOX JESUS which has caused my internet to constantly recommend me eat at Jack in the Box, despite the closest one being literal continents away.
Thank you for continuing to choose this. For being open to sharing so much of yourselves with us. Thank you for fan interactions and live listens, Q&As and twitter replies and twitch streams and retweets and Beyond the Falls. Thank you for the love and care you show us all, which above all feels genuine.
Thank you for being the catalyst for a community where I finally feel like I belong. Like I’m important. Like I matter. Thank you for being the reason for hours and days and weeks and months of in-jokes and teasing and theories and head canons and screaming and food talk and love. For so much kindness. And acceptance. For a space to be myself without fear. For people I feel like I’ve known lifetimes, and for whom I hope I can love for lifetimes more. For people to cheer on, and cry with, and poke fun at. For stupid nickname changes, and memes and words in reactions. For making me feel like i’m part of something much bigger than me. For a place to be passionate without judgement. For a place to just be. For friends. For family.
Thank you for the push I’ve needed to create again. And for all the others you’ve inspired too.
Every moment inside King Falls have been an absolute blessing, but the impact it’s had on my life outside of it is absolutely everything.
Congratulations on (almost) 100 episodes. What an adventure it’s been. I’m so excited for everything the future of King Falls holds, but most of all; Thank you for making this fuckin’ mean something.

“GOSSIP GIRL: New York, New York“ (Chapter 1).
Summary: Gossip Girl, your one and only social media source into the scandalous lives of Manhattan’s Elite. Things begin to stagger at the Upper East Side with the return of Alana Howarth and the unexpected arrival of Timothée Chalamet, a European handsome boy and rising ruler who has come for Alana; ignoring that NYC already has an heir and prince in its realm, Tom Holland. Secrets, romance, drama and lots of champagne are our daily bread. You know you love me, XOXO.
Originally based on: R’s & CrispyImagines writers’ idea.
Written by: @crispyimagines17
CAST:
Tom Holland
Timothée Chalamet
Disclaimer: This fiction is set on our days (2019). Gossip Girl is now all over social media, Twitter and Instagram being the best sites to find hot tea. Also, for those who may ask what happens with Serena, Blair, Chuck, Dan, Nate and the original cast, they’re now grownups who set the reign and have left it for new generations.
Author’s Note: Well, I’m really really excited for this. A huge sorry for those who’ve been waiting an eternity; college and our sense of perfection got in the way. But now here it is. Hope you love it as much as we do and enjoy every word <3 (also hope this feels like watching a Gossip Girl episode).
Further author's note: So this me from the future haha I was reading this chapter and holy crap! I needed an editor for this, it's good but some scenes are garbage and just make the chapter really REALLY long. Please new reader, give my series a chance. I promise the 2nd chapter is better (check it on the masterpost). Way better. Also, I'll try to re-write this chapter to take away that shit. In the meantime, please try to enjoy my efforts.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Hey Upper East Siders. Gossip Girl here… And I have the biggest news ever. One of my many sources – jessica97 – sends us this;
Spotted at JFK International Airport, bags in hand: Alana Howarth. Was it only a year ago our It-Girl mysteriously disappeared for, quote, ‘boarding school’? And just as suddenly she’s back.
You don’t believe me? See it for yourselves. Thanks for the photo, Jess.
Wonder what Tom Holland thinks about her return? Not much, I guess. Manhattan’s elite prince himself was caught low-key undercover at a downtown Starbucks.
But she’s not the only surprise that comes up with foreign winds. Fresh meat sent from overseas, girls. A foreign handsome boy chatted with our Lana before taking his own way. New snack, huh?
Enjoy your mocha latte, Tom; you’re gonna need it. And welcome back, Alana.
The flight 0159 London-New York City had arrived at its destiny. And Alana Howarth breathed for the first time in a long time the air of her city. Maybe it was good to be back at home. The airport was somehow peaceful, at least.
Geoffrey, the family butler, was waiting for her in the same place as usual; near the candy shop where 7-year-old Alana loved to buy chocolates after a long journey.
“Geof!”, she took her Prada pale gold sunglasses up to her hair to glance at her old friend better.
“Miss Howarth”, the 50-year-old man who might be easily confused with Alfred Pennyworth showed her a bright smile.
“Oh, c’mon. I brought you something.”
“You’re so kind, miss Howarth. Let me take your luggage and…” Geoffrey went silent and only made a gesture with his eyebrows for Miss Howarth to turn her face behind her.
A young handsome man was decidedly walking towards her. By the Louis Vuitton travel pillow around his neck, one could say his flight had just landed too.
“Surprise!”, he shouted while shaking his hands as magicians do.
“Timothée?”, but Alana’s reaction wasn’t reciprocal. She frowned and narrowed her eyes, completely confused. “Wha- How?”
“I was on the same flight, London-New York. Literally crossed the sea to see you again.”
“But I never saw you on First Class boarding line”
“Ran late.” Before she could argue something else, he added “And asked for a seat far from yours, I didn’t want you to see me.”
“Wow… Why?”
Both youngsters were looking right into each other’s eyes; Timothée’s with a flash of hope and Alana’s were almost watery.
“I just couldn’t let you go so easily”
The following silence allowed Geoffrey to help her and cleared his throat loudly, bursting their bubble.
“Miss Howarth, your mother gave instructions to have you at the penthouse at 2 p.m.”
The clock read 1:40 p.m. Saved by the bell.
“Sure, she did. Thank you, Geof.”
“Go, go. I’ll send you a DM”, Timothée nodded and made a gesture with his hand for her to enter the limo.
They shared a brief eye contact once more before the handsome man turned back and walked away.
Overwhelmed, Alana was about to step into the limo when she heard a female known voice.
“Alana?”
“Marva?”, a brunette typical-Upper-East-Side-girl approached her with eyes wide open and eyebrows raised in surprise.
“Oh God, you’re back!”
Both girls shared a courtesy hug. Though, Alana was clearly tired.
“And… how you’ve been?”
“Cool. My cousin Jessica arrives today”, Marva answered as opened her purse to take out her cell phone and unblock it. “Well, I guess everyone knows you’re back now. It’s all over Gossip Girl”.
“Wait, what?”, Alana asked with a frown while trying to see Marva’s phone screen, but before she could read anything Marva kept it back into her purse.
“Gotta go, A. See you.”
------------------
Oh, A. New York has never been peaceful at all. You should know that more than anyone. Our princess is back, but apparently her crown has lost one diamond; what did she do last summer? And why did she return?
Down at Starbucks in the Upper East Side, Tom Holland had his phone on Do Not Disturb mode. He preferred it that way. His mother had announced him Alana’s arrival at breakfast, and he wanted to take a breath before seeing her. The last time both had spoken left a weird feeling down his chest, so he better be prepared.
Tom plopped down on his Jaguar’s leather back seats with a sigh, leaned against his back and sip his cappuccino. His mother words echoed on his mind over and over again.
“Our dear Alana comes back today, Tom. Please, don’t forget the party Margot and I have prepared for her at the Palace.”
Our dear Alana. Another sigh escaped through his mouth as he smoothed his hair back with one hand. But he had a special ringtone for Gossip Girl and its sound interrupted his thoughts, couldn’t helping himself on unblocking his device and check out the latest news.
Tom tightened his grip on his phone as his eyes read the lines about a foreign handsome man. In a single move, he dialed a number and approached it to his ear with pursed lips.
“Evan. Tom Holland here. Tell me everything you know about this man, I’ll send you his picture.”
--------------------
Timothée looked through the polarized windows with his eyes fixed on New York City. It was very American, not a single glimpse of Europe, indeed. His phone vibrated under his right pocket and as soon as he read the name on the screen, he answered.
“How was your flight, Timmy?”, a soft female voice asked on the other line.
“Good, mom.”
“Fine. Your father wondered where the private jet was.”
“Father… Asking for the jet instead of his son”, Timothée gritted his teeth and nodded ironically.
“Are you…?”
But he anticipated to her words and answered right away.
“Yeah, I’m on my way to uncle Chuck’s. Call you later… Love you too, bye.”
Chuck Bass, his mother’s millionaire cousin. They were related by Chuck’s mother, but her death didn’t make them close. Though, family is family and the Chalamet were always invited to every Bass event. But Timothée hadn’t seen him in years, he barely remembered Bart Bass’ funeral or more so, Chuck’s wedding with Blair Waldorf.
But he knew one thing for sure; his uncle had been the king of the Upper East Side, and now that he’s not a youngster then his place must be someone else’s.
With a frown and pursed lips only a true Slytherin could do, Timothée opened his Twitter and typed “Gossip Girl”, being immediately presented to an account describing;
Gossip Girl, your one and only social media source into the scandalous lives of Manhattan’s Elite.
He smirked.
“Time to catch up.”

February 16th, 2018. One year ago.
The sun drew a soft orange-blue in the sky, ready to let the night its way. Her Louis Vuitton luggage set laid behind her, up in an airport cart.
“Bye, daddy”, Alana kissed her father’s cheek and embraced him as a couple of teardrops fell over his shoulder.
“Take care, sweetheart”, Dr. Howarth’s nose huffed in an effort not to cry.
“Bye, Geof”, she embraced her old friend. The butler took his hat off and smiled at the Howarth girl he had served since her very first day.
“Bye, mom”, Alana kissed her mother. Though their adieu was shorter than her father’s.
A male voice echoed in every corner of the Airport, announcing the boarding room for flight 912 New York-London. Alana took a deep breath before nodding an airport butler for him to drive the cart along her side.
And without further goodbye, she walked towards the VIP boarding line.
***
Once on her seat, she asked the stewardess for a glass of water and an Aspirin. This was more than she can handle. Though, they say it’s better to tear it from the root. So, she typed the well-known user on her Instagram and found right-away the latest hit she had read a couple of days before.
In fairy tales, Cinderella danced until midnight with her Prince Charming. But on the Upper East Side, our Cinderalana ran away before dancing with our Prince T and, instead of a crystal slipper, left a whole crowd open-mouthed. Sorry T, but you had to read the tale first; Cinderella didn’t kiss the Prince on Valentine’s Day ball while he was under vodka’s spell.
Her eyes went watery and bit her tongue to hold her feelings inside. Gossip Girl having perfect timing for dropping bombs. Suddenly, Alana felt the chills running down her spine as she remembered Tom’s closeness and everybody’s eyes on them with their phones out ready to snap the moment.
And it made her sick. She shut her eyes as she leaned against her back on the comfortable seat with a sigh. This had to end, now. But gossips would always be around, and people have no mercy. That’s why she had to leave.
In a movement worthy of dramatic film scenes, Alana looked out through the plane’s window and saw New York City lights vanish before her eyes. Then, she brought her attention back to her phone screen still on Gossip Girl and decidedly clicked ‘Unfollow’.
A new beginning, far far away.
---------------
May 2019. Present Day NYC - Howarth’s penthouse.
“What do you mean dad is not at home?”
Alana frowned at the woman standing behind a desk with her glasses in the middle of her nose, focused on the golden MacBook screen.
“Well, hospitals demand a lot of him these days. And it certainly did not help the fact he had to deal with the Foundation too when his daughter left.” Margot, Alana’s mother, answered throwing a reproach glance in her daughter’s direction while interlacing her fingers to rest her chin on top.
“But I’m back now.”
“He said he’d be here as soon as his meeting with the board finishes. Maybe you can re-join your place as ‘Charity and Foundation leader’.”
“I’d love that, truly.” Alana said as a warm smile covered her face. If one thing she had missed was the Foundation and all its activities; see children’s faces when they were told their surgeries would be free.
“By the way, the Holland’s organized an evening party at the Palace in honor of your return.” Margot added, bringing her attention back to the MacBoook screen and typing fast over the keyboard.
“Oh mom…”, the prodigal daughter rolled her eyes. Margot being Margot Howarth and the socialite.
“You know they’re very fond of you. Besides, Tom and you have always been close, like cousins.” Alana’s mom took her glasses off to fix her eyes on her daughter as she shrugged. “And when Elizabeth told me about her idea, well, I thought it was hilarious.”
“Hilarious for you.”
“Alana please don’t act like a chi…”
“I’ll be on my room!”, she shouted already on her way towards the stairs. “Until I move again somewhere else”, this last muttered under her breath.
***
As soon as her foot stepped into her room, a kind of relief relaxed every muscle of her body, plopping down over her big bed. After a few seconds, the whole world fell under her chest.
“Fuck”
The very one thing she wasn’t ready to face, and her mother arranges everything as always for it to happen. Alana could’ve continued regretting her bad luck, but jetlag dominated her will and a couple of minutes later, fell deeply asleep.
***
It wasn’t until Dr. Howarth kissed her forehead that her eyes opened, and she slowly got up, still under the sleep’s stupor.
“Morning, sunshine”
“God, what time is it?”
“Six.” He answered calmly as he lend her a glass of cold water. “So, how was Europe?”
After drinking the last drop, she placed the empty glass on the bedside table and fixed her eyes into her father’s.
“Great. Thanks for… everything. Spending my Senior high school year there was the best I could’ve ever done, thank you for supporting that.”
Dr. Marcus Howarth sat up on her bed with his lips pursed in an apologizing manner.
“I’m sorry we had to leave so soon on your Graduation Day, sweetheart.”
“It’s okay. You were there, that’s all that matters.”
“You know I’m so thrilled you’re back, and more so behaving like an adult. What happened to my naughty teenager?”
Both shared a laugh. Her father had always been honest with her and knew exactly when to act as a friend or as a parent.
“She grew up.”
Marcus nodded with a proud smile on his face.
“Yeah, she did.”
A brief silence floated in the room. Dr. Howarth was about to stood up when Alana asked.
“Dad?”
He looked at Alana with a slight frown.
“I met someone”
His father’s blissful aura faded and narrowed his eyes, ready to hear the story his daughter was about to tell.
---------------
February 17th, 2018. London City.
Alana closed the door as soon as the last worker left the last suitcase and stood before the mess, but a genuine smile covered her face making it almost shine.
There she was in her new, and so far craziest, adventure: living alone. After enjoying a few minutes of peace, Alana began unpacking. It’d be a long night and she had to hurry.
Tomorrow was her first day at Woldingham School for Girls in Surrey, only 35 minutes away from her location; her father alleged she should study somewhere in London, but her mother decided that, if her daughter was studying in the UK, then she’d do it at the same school she once did. At least Gossip Girl’s realm didn’t get that far.
The bell rang, bringing her back to Earth; approached to the micro near the button instalment that controlled the gate.
“Who is it?”
Her favorite female voice answered.
“It’s me. Blair.”
“Come up!”
A couple of minutes later, godmother and goddaughter were embraced with big smiles.
“Goodness, you’re here!”
“Chuck’s waiting outside, I just wanted to see the place you… chose to live”, Blair Waldorf glanced with a frown every corner of the floor as if looking a horror show. “Seriously, Lana, you should stay at my house here, nobody’s living there. And I’ve heard Benedict Cumberbatch lives a couple of houses from it.”
“I’d like to give this place a try. But thank you.”
Blair hold her goddaughter’s hands and showed her a sincere encouraging smile.
“And remember, no matter if your last name is Howarth, you’ve always been a Waldorf.”
***
The subway ride hadn’t been as bad as she imagined. But living in London with less privileges than in New York felt good.
Alana was about to step outside the principal’s office.
“Here”, the principal handed her a bunch of papers. “Your first class had just begun a couple of minutes ago. ‘Art History’, you better hurry up.”
“Thank you for receiving me, Principal Martha.”
Both women shook hands and shared polite smiles.
“You’re welcome, Alana. It was a pleasure.”
Once on the aisle, she inspected the papers content and between them found a map of the whole campus.
“Not even Harry Potter’s Hogwarts map was that difficult.” Alana muttered under her breath with her eyes locked in the drawings of aisles and buildings.
Apparently, this boarding school was only for girls but was related to the boys’ boarding one next to this, and so, some classes were shared; such as Art History.
When she finally figured out where the hell her room was, it had already begun as the principal warned her. She was standing near the door with her eyes trying to see through the little windows.
“Maybe it’s almost finishing”
But before she decided to leave, a boy with wavy hair and indie aspect cleared his throat and touched her back with his finger. He had drops of sweat running around his face, he ran late too.
“Excuse me uh, are you coming inside?”
“Uh, I don’t know. Seems the class is interesting, I’ll interrupt the professor’s speech, maybe.”
“Mr. Blackwood’s? He doesn’t mind.”
“Really?”
His aura was full of electricity and calm at the same time. And his eyes made Alana’s impression to sound reasonable; both eyeballs were surrounded by a smoldering green.
“Yeah. Besides, if you come in with me, he won’t get mad. Trust me”
“Alright”, she answered doubtfully.
Though his charisma convinced her about the professor’s behavior, this was the first time she trusted someone who had just met.
“I’m Timothée, by the way.” He stretched out his hand to shake it with hers, something not commonly used among youngsters.
“Alana.”
Timothée gently smiled at her as he made a gesture with his hand to let her walk inside first.
“Nice to meet you, Alana. Shall we?”
***
April (one week before Summer) 2018. Woldingham Boarding School.
A couple of months were enough for Alana to feel like a Londoner. She might not know the city by heart but had connected to it in a way she never had with New York. And she barely remembered Gossip Girl or the Valentine’s ball incident.
Mr. Blackwood was in front of the whole class pointing something on the projector’s screen. ‘Modern Art’ era and music was the main subject of the day.
“So, as many of you may know or even have the honor of meeting, Hans Zimmer did change the way film music was recorded…”
The boarding school, despite what her mother commented her, had rich kids from several Western Europe countries. Perhaps Margot referred to the fact most were new monied instead of old monied as in Constance, her former high school in New York.
Timothée was sitting next to her in the middle row.
“He’s getting sentimental.” He turned his head and whispered near her ear.
“Shh.” Alana giggled.
“He is. Jesus, I told him to follow his dream, get his butt to Hollywood and ‘boom’ the Oscar goes to Joe Blackwood for Best Original Score”
Blackwood crossed his legs as he leaned his arms over the desk behind his back.
“Alexandre Desplat finally received his Oscar, but… Alright, back to topic, please eyes on the screen.”
Everyone did as told. Unlike other classes, this one gave them the opportunity to flirt, so in exchange they obeyed the young and cool professor Joe.
“The following video reflects what we’ve been talking these weeks; the power of music.”
Letters – Abel Korzeniowski
Lights had been turned down, leaving the room in complete darkness until two dancers appeared on screen. Their performance was so beyond perfect it almost made her wince.
Once the lights were on again, Mr. Blackwood’s excitement filled his face and voice.
“You see? Every note was sintonized with every movement. Did you feel the passion?”
A moment of silence between the students reigned in the room, until Timothée broke it and everyone’s heads turned in his direction.
“Indeed, Mr. Blackwood. The sequence of the young man reading his lover’s letter reflects pure desperation and pain. Ballet is quite misunderstood sometimes, just bodies moving doesn’t make any sense… But when music accompanies this, it’s… Art.”
His velvety voice was casting a hypnotizing shadow on his very feature. Everyone’s eyes were glued on him. However, it wasn’t interest what she saw reflected on them but a weird mix of respect and fear? She wasn’t sure.
And when he finished his comment, Mr. Blackwood cleared his throat bringing the class’ attention back to the desk where he had been without moving, also spelled by Timothée’s charm.
“That’s art, ladies and gentlemen. Your final Project is about this video, I want an essay on my desk by the end of the week.”
***
Ten minutes later, Timothée and Alana were walking down the aisle in silence.
“What are your plans for this summer?”
She glanced at him with a slight frown as she let out a chuckle. That was unexpected.
“Head back to New York, maybe.”
His eyes were fixed on her, ready to perceive any reaction on her feature while both kept walking.
“Why don’t you come with me?”
Suddenly, her face changed to a completely speechless expression. So, he decided to add more and ease her a bit.
“Yeah, road tripping all over Europe. Or at least Western Europe before senior year.”
Nothing. Her eyes were blank.
“Don’t tell me Summer at the Hamptons sounds better.”
Two blinks. And seconds later, a smile.
“No… Uhm, you know what? I’d like a road trip… Very much.”
It was true, another summer listening to her mother’s speech was the last she wanted to do. Or facing what she left.

May 2019. Present Day
***
Spotted: The airport handsome young man stepping into the Empire Hotel. There are only two reasons a stranger would walk in with such determination; he’s a guest in a hurry or he’s visiting our former prince Chuck Bass.
***
NYC – Bass’ penthouse.
The elevator door opened and Timothée walked into his uncle’s penthouse. He had his hands inside his pocket as he stared the whole place; it must be the biggest penthouse in New York.
Chuck Bass appeared in a blue suit, holding a glass of whisky on his right hand.
“Timmy, long time no see!”
Bass handed him the glass as he approached to his mini-bar and served a drink for himself.
“Indeed, uncle.”
“Your mother?”
“She’s fine but couldn’t come. You know, Europe is-“
“Her home. That’s what she always told me when we were kids.”
His uncle made a slight gesture for him to seat over the couch.
“And your father?”
“Business.”
“Chalamet… Guess his new empire got him pretty busy.”
Timothée nodded before drinking a sip of whisky.
“I still remember when my father learned your mother was going to marry your father Domenico, a nobody, as he called him.” A hint of a playful grin showed over his face. “He surprised us all when suddenly bought your mother a mansion at Monte Carlo and had investors everywhere.”
A naughty smile covered Timothée’s face as a memory crossed over his mind at the mention of Monte Carlo.
“Oh, that mansion… Got some cool parties over there”
Chuck joined him with the same smile.
“You got that fun sense from your mother’s family side, particularly me.” Chuck blinked as he reminded himself the main subject of that chat.“But, what can I do for you, nephew?”
“Well, I’m pretending to stay here for a while. Yale haven’t accepted me, but Columbia already did and just wanted to let you know.”
“You already found where to live?”
“Yeah, they’re sending my luggage there.”
Again, the elevator doors opened but this time Serena van der Woodsen stepped inside, announcing her hurried way.
“Chuck it’s me! Just came for something Blair left and…”
She was open-mouthed for a splice of a second, before approaching to Chuck though not taking her eyes away from the young man sitting in front of him.
“Serena, this is my nephew Timothée Hal Chalamet.” Both stretched hands politely. “Timothée, this is Serena van der Woodsen, my wife’s best friend.”
“A pleasure.” Serena, despite the years, still glowed in beauty showing him her characteristic smile. “Maybe you’d like to join us tonight. It’s at the Palace, Blair and a friend organized a party to celebrate Alana Howarth’s return.”
“Come, Tim. Blair would be delighted to see you.”
The young man raised his eyebrows in surprise at the invitation. He pretended to be speechless for a few seconds just before a big smile wrote all over his face.
“I’d love to. Thank you so much”
Well, he had to admit it. That insane egocentric philosophy ‘The Universe conspires in your favor to achieve your purposes’ proved him wrong. Thank you, New York.

May 2019. Present Day
***
Spotted: A prince with bewilderment written all over his face. Poor T, here’s an advice; if you need help, don’t ask Cupid nor Saint Vodka.
***
NYC – Holland’s penthouse.
Tom was under a warm shower. As soon as he arrived, he locked his door and went straight to his bathroom in an attempt to slowly regain his senses and clarity. He later changed warm for cold water, running his fingers through his hair and sniffing loudly at the freezing touch.
A couple of months ago, he would do this same thing and more, and still say he deserved this pain for what he had done. But today, his mind had changed. Now, he did it as a knight would’ve prepared his horse and his best sword before battle.
Evan was fast, his best informer in fact. Tom was quite pleased by his efficiency; he still hadn’t reached the building when already had the file on his phone. It took his informer less than an hour to get everything about Timothée Hal Chalamet and gather it onto a file.
The first pages were enough for Holland to understand what this man was doing here. He felt blood running faster than ever through his veins, his breathing sped up, clenched his jaw hard and his body was almost trembling in rage. So, he got himself into the shower.
And there he was.
“I fucked up, Alana… I fucked up everything.” He shut his eyes, trying to hold tears inside. “And now this son of a bitch appears from Nowhere…”
Tom couldn’t blame him for the main title in the first page.
“Timothée ‘The King’ Chalamet”
He had laughed when he read it; only someone stupid would name himself a king and add it to his own name. But his smile faded as he kept analyzing and reading newspaper headers.
Chalamet had earned his nickname in late years, by heart. All over Europe, people recognized him as a nice charismatic and gentle young man when regarding adults. But among youngsters, a different story surrounded his name.
Not that he was terrifying or a murderer, a psycho or whatever. Not at all. He was more like a plague. A virus that entered through your ears and eyes.
Newspapers described him in few words as a promoter of good, mainly when he attended to hospitals or charity events. They ignored completely his scandalous life. Early on, his social status had remained low-key, almost nonexistent if not for a couple events his family attended hosted by the Bass family. His debut in true high society had been at the age of 11, when his family moved to Monte Carlo and since then have enjoyed a very wealthy life.
Though, he began building his realm in an Italian boarding school when he was 14; a professor was fired. Nobody really knew the reason; some said that had been because he had seduced her, others said that she scolded him after class for not delivering his homework on time and he turned things around until she cried, and others said she sneezed very close of him.
Later, at the age of 16, when his name was known in several Western Europe countries, he offered a party in Amsterdam. Some say celebrities such as The Weeknd and Cristiano Ronaldo were there. And more parties like that were hosted by him; it’s said Ed Sheeran got inspiration for a song that later became his hit ‘Shape of You’ while he attended one.
Although, when Chalamet turned 18 and moved to London, he settled down and devoted to Art in a calm boarding school.
“Months later, just after he decided to agree a kind of armistice with his realm, Alana comes to his life… And everything because of me.”
The water had ceased falling and Tom reached a towel, drying his face first and breathing deep while blaming himself.
“But this motherfucker is not in Europe. This is New York.”
---------------
Summer 2018
Seventy summer nights together. Perhaps Shakespeare, Nancy Meyers, and the whole bunch of screenwriters who wrote romcoms about summer loves were right. And she’d confirm it a thousand times… She hadn’t felt better in a long long time.
Alana chuckled and bit her lower lip from time to time as she reviewed her phone gallery with all her on-the-road memories.
He had told her this was his favorite, thus he set it as his lockscreen.
This was Paradise. Although the deal was road tripping, some luxury wouldn’t do any harm. She couldn’t even believe the beauty in the view their shared suite enjoyed.
The sound of the glass door from the shower made her immediately smile as the picture of Timothée with a towel wrapped around his waist filled her eyes.
He smiled at her too and turned around to open the mirrored cabinet and look for his Hugo Boss cologne. Once he found it, he poured some over his hand and dispersed it around his neck.
“Ready for your surprise?”
Alana smirked. Her eyes had been focused on his movements she didn’t expect that.
“What? You didn’t tell me”
“Oh, it’s true. I forgot to tell you about your surprise, maybe cause that’s what surprises are. A SECRET.”
“You’re a bad bad guy for not telling me.”
He walked towards her with a mischievous smile.
“But I’m YOUR bad guy.”
Timothée approached slowly and then captured her lips with his in a long and soft kiss. He cupped her face in his hands after pulling away.
“Go, babe. Get ready.”
Now was her turn to take a shower. Life couldn’t be better.
***
“Oh God. Timothée you didn’t…”
Alana was open-mouthed as she looked through the window how the limo drove them to the front door of the auditorium. A big poster announced tonight’s event: The 1975 in concert.
He rejoiced in his success for making her that happy.
“I did, darling. I did.”
“But- wh- how?”
“Let’s just say Matty Healy owed me a favor.”
“You know Matty Healy? Oh, dear heaven…”
Once inside the complex, another surprise came for her; Matty reserved them special seats in the front row. This had to be a fucking dream, one Alana wanted to never end.
The lights were all off, only a few white shadows were visible. Some guitar chords resonated. And suddenly, a blue neon light lit up the stage. Robbers characteristic sounds shouted making the whole crowd crazy and she couldn’t help herself but joining them.
Timothée just looked at her, at the shine in her eyes reflecting those lights and felt his heart melt. When he remembered the lyrics, he also joined the crowd and the woman next to him.
The group played a lot of songs more, connected, laughed and played with their audience. Matty even mentioned them:
“A few friends of mine are here tonight. Hope you’re enjoying this. ARE YOU ENJOYING THIS PEOPLE?”
As the end of the night came closer, the illumination changed slowly until a violet-pink light colored the stage and a kind of white smoke covered the arena. One more song and it’d be over.
It was ‘Somebody Else’. Alana’s favorite song from The 1975. Her eyes went watery as a soft smile wrote over her face.
He felt it too. Countless times he had told Matty this was their best song ever, so when it began playing Healy looked at him and blinked an eye before singing.
Timothée pressed his body against hers with her back touching his chest. He wondered if she could feel his fast heartbeats. Though she did nothing, but wince at his touch that only sent shivers down her spine.
He was a few inches taller, so his breath moved some strands of her hair. His hands ran down her arms until it reached hers and hold them as both crossed their fingers; hand to hand. Slowly, he led their arms to raise them above their heads and move with the music.
And if there’s a thought, it was a lie.
Two bodies, two souls, two hearts. Dancing together. Being one.
“Let’s keep dancing, let’s do it”.
Matty said to the audience, but Timothée felt the message had been more for him because he saw the way he danced with Alana. Yeah, he perfectly knew what Healy wondered and he was right; The King fell in love.
***
Backstage, Timothée introduced Alana to The 1975 members.
“You guys enjoyed the concert?” Matty asked as he grabbed a bottle of water.
“Hell yeah. It was amazing, you guys are AWESOME.”
Her smile was infinite. Almost nothing in the world would make it fade.
“Thank you, thank you. And what are you both doing? I mean, you wanna join us at the after-party?”
The couple looked at each other’s eyes and immediately knew the answer; they wanted to spend the night together at the hotel.
“Maybe next time, Matty. But thank you.” Timothée answered as he nodded to his friend.
“The King shall rest.”
The singer and Timothée shared a masculine hug before Alana took a picture of them with her Polaroid.
“Was a big pleasure seeing you, man. And hope to hear more from you, Alana; you gotta be The Queen.”
***
Alana stood before the mirror and started removing pins from her hair.
“What a night. I still cannot believe it.”
“Pure magic”, Timothée said standing behind her and slowly approaching to retake the same contact as in the concert.
Both looked at their reflection and stayed in silence for a minute before she turned her face to meet her lips with his in a soft kiss.
“Do you love me?”, she asked.
Instead of answering, he kissed her again but desperately this time. Her back hit the nearest wall as he deepened the kiss and unfastened her robe before kissing her neck.
But suddenly he stopped. The Killers Mr. Brightside’s chords coming from her purse interrupted the moment; her phone was ringing. She reached for it and her face paled when she saw the name flashing on the screen; Tom Holland.
She tried to collect herself, speechless as hesitance prevented her from making what her memory commanded her almost instinctively. Her thumb struggled between two choices; she answered, obeying her brain’s will.
“Alana?”
Alana winced at the sound of his voice, though she couldn’t utter a word. Timothée stood behind her as he smoothed his hair back with both hands, confused and frustrated.
“If you’re listening… Oh God, I-I-I don’t know what time is in your location, maybe it’s late or… not,” he began with jitters and hesitance cracking his voice. “Listen, it doesn’t matter if you’re a couple hundred miles from Japan… I was wondering if you have plans tonight.”
He made a pause, waiting for an answer or at least a reaction on the other line, but Alana kept frozen in her place, so he took a deep breath to encourage himself and continue.
“Maybe we could talk. Please, let me explain what-”
“Stop!” Alana exclaimed with an angry yet broken voice and hung up the phone.
She stood there for a couple of minutes more, with her eyes glued to the window view facing the darkness of the ocean at night. And when she finally faced Timothée, who had his eyes fixed on her, she swallowed hard. His eyes widened at the sight of her face, pale as ghost.
“I’d like to get some fresh air… Alone.”
He nodded with a slight worried frown. It was clear she had to make an effort to utter a word. He leaned against the couch, letting a sigh escape from his mouth.
The phone rang again. Mr. Brightside’s chords again over the bed.
Timothée answered.
“Alana? Please, listen to me. I-I-I’m so sorry.”
As soon as he heard a male voice, and even more after listening the weak apologize, his blood boiled.
Who the hell ever dared to hurt her?
He clenched his jaw when he read the name; Tom Holland.
***
When Alana crossed the door and entered their suite, a huge relief relaxed every muscle of Timothée’s body. A part of him told him not to, but he couldn’t help himself on pulling her into a tight embrace.
“Thank you.” She whispered over his shoulder before pulling away. “I’m sorry for leaving like that…”
His eyes were filled with tenderness for the woman standing face to face.
“No need to apologize, Alana.”
“Yes, I have to. We were having OUR moment and he suddenly calls with perfect timing and everything came back…”, a knot formed in her throat and her voice broke against her will.
Timothée immediately placed his hands over her shoulders, ready to pull her again and protect her. Only God knew what he was capable of if that man placed a finger on her without consent.
“What? He did something to you?”
Even though her voice was now recovered, he could tell it wasn’t easy for her to talk about it.
“Not exactly. There’s a stupid site called Gossip Girl that makes public everything that happens on the Upper E…”
Her lower lip trembled, perhaps as a sign for trying to keep the calm. So he made a decision; no more pain.
“It’s alright, you don’t have to tell me right now if you don’t want to.” Alana fixed his eyes into his in utter silence. “This is your fresh start.”
“A fresh start.” She nodded.
“The past is on the past”, he gently grabbed her by the chin. “Don’t feel you gotta tell me everything that happened before we met… Let’s make a deal, okay? Like… Hakuna Matata.”
She chuckled. And this relieved him in more than one way.
“No worries, no bad experiences, just today. Present is all that matters.”
“That sounds promising”, she said with a soft smile spreading across her face.
His thumb caressed her chin while both stared straight into each other’s eyes.
“It does, yeah. So… deal?”
“Deal.”
Timothée holded her right hand and kissed it as he promised himself he would never let her go.

The Palace. Present Day.
The terrace was crowded by those distinguished guests who were, in Mrs. Howarth’s opinion, indispensable to celebrate her daughter’s return.
Tom had arrived earlier than everyone hoping she’d come with her mother. But she didn’t. People started arriving and there was no sight of her. He was sitting at the Palace hotel bar, taking a sip of scotch as he tried not to check his phone again. One hour. One hour late to her own party.
Just when he was about to believe she wouldn’t come; a waiter tinkled a glass to gain everyone’s attention and music stopped. His mother and Margot Howarth stood mid-stairs with a microphone each in their right hand.
“Good evening”, his mother said.
“Thank you for being here, it’s a pleasure for us to…”
Margot’s voice was in the background while Tom kept glancing in every direction to see if Alana was around. But the face he recognized from the pictures made him grip his scotch glass a little too tight; Timothée Chalamet. What was he doing here?
“Well, she doesn’t really need an introduction. Ladies and gentlemen, my daughter Alana Howarth.”
The words resonated in his ears as Tom instinctively turned his face at the stairs. Everyone clapped joyfully.
“Thank you, mom. And thank you, Mrs. Holland. I’m so glad for being here with all of you…”
Still not a minute went by when her voice seemed to have everyone under a spell, as always. Her charm to connect with people had always been her strongest gift.
“…hope to rejoin the Olivia Howarth Charity Foundation and serve our people as it’s meant to be”
More claps. People loved her benevolent soul.
As she walked down the stairs, Alana made eye contact with Tom, but she looked away almost immediately, paying attention to Blair Waldorf and the couple talking with her.
***
Wind wasn’t blowing in Tom’s favor.
Alana had done everything in her power to keep herself busy eating canapes and talking about the beautiful flowers or the dress of Mrs. Perkins with every guest. With this luck, the night would end before he could approach her.
The clock read 9:40 p.m; it was now or never. Tom walked towards Serena van der Woodsen who was standing with a group of people, however when she saw from the corner of her eye her godson, she excused herself and turned to meet him.
“Auntie, I need your help”, Tom said handing her a glass of champagne.
“What is it, Tommy?”
She stared at him with a worried look on her face.
“You see that guy over there?” He glanced at Timothée’s direction talking with Chuck Bass and a couple more businessman. “I need you to distract him so I can have a word with Alana.”
“Oh, I saw him today with Chuck Bass. He’s his nephew.”
“I know. Would you talk to him while I’m with her, please?”
“He’s not with Alana, why don’t you just simply ask her?”
His eyes traveled the whole room.
“It’s… complicated, auntie S.”
“Okay, okay. I’ll do it, but please Tom don’t make a scene”, Serena placed one hand over her godson’s elbow. “It’s classic of Gossip Girl haunting for something in parties like this one.”
He nodded as putting on a smile and taking a step back from her.
“Don’t worry, auntie S.”
Serena went to the canape table and grabbed two, one for Chuck and one for her, then she headed up to their direction. Timothée welcomed her.
Fortunately, Alana was with a group of women who appreciated him very much. Confident of himself, he took a deep encouraging breath and he took three long strides to stand before her.
“Good evening, ladies.”
A couple of them raised their eyebrows, but they welcomed him nicely.
“Oh Tom dear, we were just talking about high school.”
“Thank God we graduated”, he chuckled, and the group joined him in his polite laugh. His charm might not be as powerful as hers, but it worked, and he used it. After the laugh faded, he cleared his throat. “Alana may I have a word?”
He got her. Fuck. The only thing left for her was nod and force a smile.
“Excuse me.”
Tom led her to a balcony away from the party, not without looking around to make sure no one saw them. In the midst of nervousness and excitement, Tom missed a pair of green eyes watching from the other side of the terrace.
Once outside, Alana turned to face him; she wasn’t chickening out this time.
“Tom, please don’t do this.”
He raised his hands as an innocent man would do in front of a cop.
“I just have to say something, please”
Her eyes were locked on his while she shook her head as if begging him not to press his finger over the wound.
“Don’t, don’t go there.”
“You just need to hear it.” He took one step to be closer to her, and when his mouth opened his voice had a soft sound. “I’m sorry, Alana. For that night. I never wanted to disrespect you or make you feel so bad for you to leave the city and…”
“I didn’t leave because of that!”, she cut him off.
His lips parted, looking genuinely confused. She shut her eyes for a brief moment before letting go a tired sigh.
“Jesus! What happened was the drop that spilled the glass. One day I woke up and… I didn’t want my life to be the way it had been with Gossip Girl shouting every party I hosted or even if I sniffed.” Alana swallowed hard and prayed her courage wouldn’t let her voice fail. “I… thought it’d be enough if I just stayed at the edge, but on Valentine’s…”, a complex mixture of rage and sadness were threatening to crack her voice, but she collected herself before tears flood her eyes. “The very person I cared the most about… showed me this world wasn’t for me cause no one would be truly a friend.”
She let the words hit him as she bit her lower lip in a last attempt not to cry. It still hurt.
“And, you know the rest.”
Silence set between the two of them. Tom was shattered; she had trusted him, and he failed her. He failed. And her words explained a lot of things but one. Tom tried to swallow the knot that formed in his throat.
“So, why you came back?”
“My aunt Blair told me Gossip Girl’s gift for Upper East Side grads was a clean slate for college. That’s why I’m here. A new beginning in New York, with my family.”
“I called you a thousand times and you were mad with me.”
Alana exhaled loudly and her rage seemed to come back for a second.
“I was, right. I knew you had feelings for me, and that night I expected you’d do something. And you did, but under alcohol’s effect. In front of the whole class with their phones out.”
“And I would never forgive myself for that”
Once more, Alana shut her eyes trying to control herself. When she got it, her eyes opened with a calmer pace and saw a dark knight walking towards them. Tom had his back to him and didn’t feel him coming.
“The past is in the past, Tom. Wish you a good life.” She administered the coup de grâce.
“Alana, please…”
Tom lifted his right hand to caress her arm. But Timothée’s hand stepped in the way, pushing his hands away before he could touch her.
Alana rolled her eyes, tired of this drama. She glanced at both men and moved a strand of hair out of her face.
“My dad should be wondering where I am”, she said as she brushed past Timothée making his shoulder move.
As soon as she left, Tom pushed sharply away Timothée’s hand with pursed lips and clenched jaw.
“Who the fuck you think you are to interrupt us?”
Timothée stared at him with a quirked eyebrow, challenging him as a mocking smile threatened to set free at the corner of his lips.
“Would say it was over before I came.”
“Listen to me you…”
But his sarcastic feature changed in a blink of an eye into serious, taking a step closer to him.
“No, YOU listen to me; you got your opportunity and you lost it.”
“Use your words carefully, you’re not in Monte Carlo anymore”, Tom warned him.
“Yeah, that’s what Google Maps says”, Timothée raised his eyebrows as he nodded with a smile.
“Alana would’ve never trusted you if she knew every thing I know about you”, Holland furrowed his eyes while putting his hands inside his pocket.
“And you think she’d believe a word you say?”, Chalamet scoffed. “Wake up, Thomas. She’s not under your mercy anymore.” He enjoyed the face Holland made, speechless. “Do yourself a favor and move on.”
Though, the prince reminded himself his advantage.
“You don’t know her at all. No matter how much time you’ve spent together, the good stuff is on the details and that’s something you won’t get.”
This hit Chalamet hard.
“Are you threating me?”, the European king asked sounding annoyed.
“I’m warning you”, now Tom used Chalamet’s same attitude with raised eyebrows and a smirk.
The atmosphere got heavier as both young men stared at each other with rage overflowing from their auras. But before one could do anything else, Nate Archibald walked towards them with a drink in his right hand.
“Tom? Here you are. Serena’s been looking for you. She’s inside.”
Whether Serena was indeed looking for him or not, Nate prevented him from making a scene and so, Tom had nothing to do but walk away with Nate.
“Thanks”
Alone, Timothée stared at the amazing view.
“New York, New York”
---------------
The identity of the mysterious airport handsome man was revealed; Timothée Chalamet. But our prince is not delighted by his presence. Looks like Manhattan’s Elite might quake with their outstanding chemistry to light a bomb up.
Alana, you did have fun in your year out… Enjoy your clean slate. I know it won’t take much time for you to dirt them up.
You know you love me, XOXO

Season Review: 13 Reasons Why - Season 4 (Netflix, 2020)
Netflix’s dropped the final season of their controversial teen drama 13 Reasons Why last week and, as expected, it quickly climbed to the number one spot and was trending. Albeit the trending topic was full of just as many people saying “don’t watch the show” as there were fans talking about the show but that’s too be expected.
Inspired by the teen best selling novel by Jay Asher, 13 Reasons Why was adapted into a television series by Brian Yorkey in 2017 and has since spanned four seasons despite controversy from critics, parents, and teenagers. The fourth and final season of the series follow the same group of Liberty High teenagers, now seniors, as they grabble with the aftermath of their decision to frame a murder on a fellow Liberty High student who was sent to prison for sexual assault and ultimately died in prison. Each of the core cast is dealing with the aftermath in different ways with Clay (Dylan Minnette) experiencing the most negative reaction due in part to his deteriorating mental health.
In true 13 Reasons Why fashion, the season deals with a variety of topics ranging from the ongoing drug use of students, their safety in school, mental health, and it even touches upon the very timely topic of police brutality and racial profiling. And of course, it had to pull one last controversial publicity stunt which left one of our beloved characters dead before graduation day.
I’ve already written about my overall thoughts on the characters outcomes but I felt the final season also warranted its own review. In addition to the usual categories, I’ve also includes a spot for my favorite character and favorite couple of the entire season since this is the final season. Least favorite character of the series will not be featured because I don’t feel the need to write anything more about Bryce. I’m also going to try to keep the character portions short so that I don’t repeat myself.
As always, spoilers are ahead.
Favorite Episode: 4×09 — “Prom”
All I’ve ever wanted is for this group of teenagers to be happy and actually enjoy their youth instead of dealing with whatever shit was complicating their lives. Episode 9 finally gave that to us, if you ignore the last 3 minutes of the episode like I’m choosing to do.
This episode had some of my favorite scenes that left me crying tears of joy and had my heart swelling with pride. It was also the first time, in a long time, that we saw the entire group back together in Clay and Justin’s bedroom. I’ve always said this show is best when it’s characters are all united and share the screen together and that scene proved I was right. If only they would have supported each other from the beginning of this season instead of just at the end.
Episode 9 is also home to both Charlie and Alex’s coming out moments and they could not have been more perfect. I absolutely love that both of their families were accepting and didn’t even question their sons. Charlie’s scene with his dad literally had me laughing out loud when they were talking about Charlie’s obsession with Eli Manning. It’s such an innocent thing and yet it showcases that LGBT kids and teens are just like their heterosexual counterparts who have innocent crushes on celebrities and athletes. I also love that his dad basically said he knew but wanted Charlie to come to him when he was ready.
Alex’s coming out moment was equally as cute. I really loved the fact that his wasn’t a coming-out moment in the traditional sense because he didn’t sit his parents down and talk to them about his sexuality. Instead, he just shows up with Charlie who he introduces as his boyfriend. It was perfect and honestly, I think more shows and films should deal with coming-out stories that happen like this. I was once again laughing when Alex’s brother got all excited because he was dating the quarterback of the Liberty High football team. Plus, the heartfelt moment with both of his parents warmed my heart. All they’ve ever wanted for their son is to see him happy and healthy and they finally got that.
I loved Charlie’s promposals and how he kept trying to one-up them to get Alex to say yes. I’m wondering though if maybe he should have tried something more low-key and intimate since that seems to be more of Alex’s style. Either way, they were all cute and I’m glad Alex finally said yes. Also, I love that they finally realized that Jess didn’t need a boy on her arm to have a good time. Having her go with Ani was cute and felt a bit full circle since the only ever girlfriend she had was Hannah who she had a falling out with before her death. And I also love that Clay tagged along with Alex and Charlie to make sure Alex was comfortable. He’s always looking out. Honorable cute mentions also go to Caleb for finally getting Tony to participate in high school activities and Tyler for going with Estella and having the best time ever.
Of course, the prom scene as a whole was amazing (again, until the last 3 minutes which I will not be mentioning again…hopefully). Seeing these kids get to be teenagers warmed my heart and it was everything I ever wanted. I loved that the football team was behind Charlie and Alex winning Prom Kings. It really showed a growth in the team since they’d been homophobic and rapists in prior seasons but have finally started to mature and “be better” as Zach and later Charlie helped instill in them. I also love that Ani and Clay finally hashed out their weird relationship and that they were able to move on as friends.
I was so glad when Justin showed up at the prom. He deserved to have a great time and enjoy his dwindling senior year just like the rest of his friends. I love how they show the scene when Jess spots him in this cinematic and romantic way. Was it cheesy? Yes, but dammit these two deserve all the cheesiness after everything they’ve been through. I also love Jess’s line telling him to never love anything more than life. It was perfect and everything I wanted.
Oh, and Clay asking his mom to dance was equally as adorable.
The only thing I felt this episode needed (other than a different ending) was the inclusion of “The Night We Met.” That song is a staple of this series and it would have been nice to have it played at their final dance. Perhaps, they could have all come together on the dance floor like they did in season 2 for Clay.
Least Favorite Episode: 4×03 — “Valentine’s Day”
To be honest, the whole first half of the season was a hot mess but I think my least favorite episode had to be the third episode. I literally almost stopped watching after it because it no longer felt like I was watching 13 Reasons Why.
I found it to be an interesting choice by the writers to write another episode centered around a dance when we were going to get a prom episode and have had multiple dance centric episodes in prior seasons. I think it would have been more interesting if they set the drama somewhere else. Then again, dances seem to be the only way to get all these characters in one place at the same time so I digress.
My biggest issue with this episode was the whole plot surrounding Clay and the mysterious phone calls. I felt like I was watching a cheap knock off of Scream every time Clay answered the phone and was tormented by the caller. Of all the dumb things this show has done, this was the dumbest and completely unnecessary. After all, Clay had been cleared from being a person-of-interest in Bryce’s murder before Ani’s confession that Monty was the one who did it. Therefor, the football teams motive for taking their anger and emotions for Monty out on Clay made zero sense. Not to mention, they did it in the most unoriginal way ever.
This episode also featured Winston and Alex getting closer and dating. Look, I believe most characters can change and be good people but Winston doesn’t seem to be one of those people. Granted, Alex didn’t know who he was or his involvement with Monty at the time but we did which made it hard for me to root for these two. Winston may have actually had feelings for Alex, but to me he was just using him to get information and that is totally not cool.
I also greatly disliked Clay and Ani in this episode. It’s clear that their relationship has run its course and Ani’s constant need to keep pushing Clay to be with her was dumb. Ani is such a smart character and yet she does the stupidest things. She definitely needed one of Jess’s woman empowerment speeches.
Also I absolutely hated Zach yelling at Justin and then Jess yelling at Justin — even if she was right to do so.
By far the worst thing about this episode had to be the ending sequence with Clay in the shower and then on the football field. Of course, the episode then ended with him walking into the gym with a red stained shirt holding a knife. Definitely not a good image for Clay but what really killed me is that everyone blamed him for brining a knife to the dance when Diego and his boys literally planted it for him to take! Once again 13 Reasons Why forgets its own plot for more drama.
Favorite Character This Season: Charlie St. George
While Charlie might not be my all-time favorite character, he definitely earned the prize of being my favorite character this season.
Charlie was the one character this season who was actually there for everyone around him and wasn’t consumed with his own issues. In fact, Charlie is so selfless that he chose to get involved with all their drama last season when he didn’t need to but did anyway because he knew it was the right thing to do.
As for this season, well Charlie continued to out do himself. He helped Justin hold the football team accountable when they were being dicks. He made sure Jess was getting the team’s undivided attention during her speech. He tried to help Tony decide on what to do about Tyler’s gun pictures during the lockdown and he even calmed Alex down during one of his anxiety attacks. Not to mention, he researched Alex’s TBI so that he’d know what to expect and how to handle any issues that may arise from it. His helpfulness didn’t stop there. He also tried to be there for Clay and for Justin during the season. And he even went as far as tracking down Zach and forcing him to go see Justin in the hospital when he was dying.
If all that doesn’t prove that he’s the best character than I don’t know what will.
He also had the best coming-out moment and literally ruled the prom with Alex as his date.
So yeah, Charlie was the best.
Favorite Character Of The Series: Justin Foley
Since this is the final season, I also wanted to speak about my favorite character of the entire show: Justin Foley. If you read my other post this should come as no surprise that Justin is my ride-or-die character.
Justin is my favorite character because he has one of the best character arcs of the entire series (if you ignore the final episode and is horrible fate). In the first season he was this angry and broken kid who was so distraught with guilt that he turned to the streets for some kind of relief and eventual revenge. Thankfully, Clay and Tony were there to save him and the Jenson’s were kind enough to offer him a home when he had no where else to turn.
Sure, Justin still struggled with his addiction but he tried and fought so damn hard to get better. Relapse is part of the recovery process and if you recall, most of the times Justin relapsed were do in part to major things happening in his life, like his biological mother’s overdose which lead to her death.
Despite all the things against him, Justin finally got help this season and was on the path to recovery. He was thriving in school, had a college acceptance letter in his hands, and was finally happy. All Justin ever wanted to do was live and he constantly tried to do that.
As you know from my character thoughts post, I was completely devastated when he died. It’s been a week and I’m still not over it. I honestly feel like I lost someone I knew in real life.
Despite his ill fitted and unnecessary ending, Justin Foley had the best character development of this group. He was the one character who deserved to live more than anything. In my head, he’s alive and thriving in college while having regular FaceTime dates with Jess.
Least Favorite Character This Season: Winston
Avoiding the obvious answers like Bryce and Monty, who I hate with my entire being, I’ve decided that Winston is my least favorite character of season 4.
I mentioned this in my other post but I’m going to say it again, Winston is nothing more than a knock-off Clay who doesn’t have half the heart that Clay Jenson has.
I can’t get behind Winston because his entire character is rooted in being a rapist apologist because he “loved” Monty. Obviously, I don’t think Winston is a terrible person but I do think something is wrong with him since he is able to have feelings for Monty despite knowing all the terrible and hurtful things he did to people. I mean Mrs. Walker couldn’t look her own son in the eyes after learning everything he did and you’re telling me that Monty can turn a blind eye to it because he’s in love. I call bullshit.
I didn’t feel like Winston’s actions this season were rooted in good like Clay’s were. I think every relationship he formed with the core group was made because he wanted to get information out of them.
The only good thing Winston did was not turn Alex in for killing Bryce. In my opinion, though, that doesn’t redeem him for spending the entire season trying to seek revenge for Monty.
Favorite Couple This Season: Alex and Charlie
Let’s be honest, 13 Reasons Why doesn’t have the best track record when it comes to relationships. Even the most iconic and shippable couples on the show are problematic. Which is why I was so shocked and proud when the writers finally decided to show a happy and healthy relationship, between two boys to top it all off!
While I’ll admit, I had been hoping that Alex would end up with Zach this season I am 110% sold that he was destined to be with Charlie. As I’ve said before and in this very post, Charlie is so caring and attentive to Alex that you can tell his feelings are completely authentic and he has no ulterior motive for wanting/choosing to be with Alex.
In fact, if you watch the third season carefully, you’ll notice that Charlie had taken an interest in Alex during that season. It just wasn’t as prominent on the screen. Perhaps, that’s part of the reason Charlie decided to get involved with this group. And once he found out Alex was the one who needed saving he jumped into action to plant Bryce’s tape on Monty. But that might be my brain stretching.
Regardless, Charlie and Alex are the perfect teenage couple and the by far the healthiest couple of this entire show. They’re there for each other, they celebrate each other’s victories (even if Alex doesn’t always understand them) and their love is unconditional.
These two may be Prom Kings but they’re also Kings of healthy relationships.
Favorite Couple Of The Series: Justin and Jess
Even though Alex and Charlie are the healthiest couple and by far my favorite this season, I can’t help but continue to ship Jess and Justin.
Now listen, these two are not a couple that should be idolized. They’re extremely toxic at times and they are way too dependent on each other. Not to mention, the origins of their relationship are complex and for some, immensely problematic. And yet, here I am stanning this couple because they’re so made for each other.
Part of what makes Justin and Jess work is that they understand each other, even when they don’t always want to. They both have been in each others shows. They both know what it’s like to be at rock bottom and to climb out on top. Beyond that, they’re (usually) always there for each other or at least are cheering each other on in some way.
Was Jess wrong this season to lash out as Justin when he told her he needed to focus on herself? Absolutely. But Justin was also in the wrong a few seasons ago when he didn’t fight to help Jess enough. Regardless of their issues and arguments, these two are always finding their way back to each other.
I loved that Justin went to Jess’s aide during the lockdown. Sure, it took Diego being an ass to get him there but I’m pretty sure he would have went regardless. Frankly I’m convinced that Justin was texting Jess during the lockdown before he even went down to see her. And, despite everything going on, in that moment they felt safe, because they were together.
I love that Justin, even though he was jealous of Diego, never really made it an issue — or at least, a major issue. When Zach is trying to rile him up at the Valentine’s Day dance Justin reminds him that Jess doesn’t belong to him. It’s the smallest thing but it a sign that he loves and respects Jess enough to let her be on her own. In fact, I’d argue that the real issue he has with Jess seeing Diego is that Diego is a complete dick to Clay and is obsessed with finding out the truth about Monty.
I love that Jess is (almost) always there for Justin. Should she have pulled him out of the alleyway when she finds him doing drugs again? Absolutely, but I think her choosing to walk away was an extremely hard decision for her to make. And I’m glad their story didn’t end there. I absolutely loved Jess’s speech to Justin at the prom. And the scene of them in the hospital completely wrecked me. Hearing Jess say that Justin taught her to love when he was still convinced he ruined her life was seriously the most heartbreaking thing ever.
As I said, I’m pretending these two are living a happy and healthy life because that’s what they deserve.
Complaints:
13 Reasons Why is strongest when the cast is together and supporting each other. Unfortunately this season everything felt disjointed, especially these characters relationships with each other. Alex and Jess had barely any scenes together despite committing a murder together. Zach was messy the entire season and acting very out of character. And no one cared enough to help him. Alex did try but it didn’t feel like enough, or maybe Zach was just too stubborn to accept it. The golden trio (Clay, Justin, and Jess) had little to no scenes until the end which hurt me to my core. I felt like Justin was missing from the first half of the season and then when he did get more time on screen he was literally dying. Clay and Tony barely had any scenes together and seemed annoyed with each other. Tyler was basically on his own this season – at least he had Estella. I guess I had higher hopes that our core group would be stronger than ever but that simply wasn’t the case and I’m upset about it.
My other major problem this season was the show’s need to try to be a psychological thriller. I fully support them wanting to show Clay’s deteriorating mental state and I found it interesting that they chose to go the disassociating route but I am not a fan of how they did it. I felt like the writers forgot the genre of their show. As I mentioned above, I also hated the football team using their phones to torment Clay. It was stupid and unoriginal.
Another issue I had this season was the fact that both Ani and Zach out Alex to different people. In Ani’s case she outed Alex to Clay by confessing that she caught him making out with Winston in the hallway during the dance. As for Zach, he outed Alex to almost all of their friends during the senior camping trip after learning that Alex broke up with Winston. While neither of them outed Alex with malicious intent, it was still wrong. I would have liked to see Alex confront them about it, at some point.
I absolutely hated and was disgusted at the fact the show tried to portray both Clay and Zach as people who would rape unconscious women who were unable to consent. I will never forgive the writers for that. It literally served no purpose and completely went again both of their characters.
I also found it extremely random and unneccesary that Clay hooks up with Valerie, Sheriff Diaz’s daughter, at that party. I don’t care that he hooked up with someone but because it was the daughter of the Sheriff I wanted that to be a bigger moment. I was waiting and expecting Sheriff Diaz to find out and flip out on Clay but that never happened. As it stands now, the only purpose that scene had was to inform us that Sheriff Diaz did have a family which would make his speech to Alex’s dad at the end of the season make sense.
I also wasn’t a fan of Monty and Bryce’s presence this season. Both of them already got their moments in the spotlight we didn’t need to see them again. They were monsters who don’t deserve any sort of redemption or yet another attempt of a redemption arc. I also found it extremely peculiar that Clay was the one that was seeing them. As I’ve said before, Clay wasn’t the one who came up with the idea to frame Monty so I wasn’t totally sure why he felt so guilty. I also hated that they gave Jess another scene with ghost Bryce at the end instead of having her see ghost Justin. If anyone deserved to be in that final scene where they’re burying Hannah’s tapes it was Justin. After all, he’s where the story began.
Speaking of the final scene, I felt it odd that they decided to bring Courtney and Ryan back. If they were going to reunite the entire tape crew where were Marcus and Sheri? Even though they weren’t prominent in the episode I felt their screen time could have been given to one of the other core characters instead.
Another minor thing, I missed the smooth transitions in and out of scenes that 13 Reasons Why always seemed to nail. I know they were mainly used when the story was switching from past and present but I truly missed them this season. Everything felt harsh and jagged and I wasn’t a fan.
Lastly, and this one is going to be obvious. I hated that they killed Justin. There was no reason for his death. There was no hint that he was the one who was going to die. It was unnecessary and a last ditch attempt to be controversial and shocking. I’m not over it and I’ll never be over it.
Praise:
Most of the things I’m going to write here I’ve said elsewhere so I apologize for any repetition.
As I said above, one of my favorite things about this season was Alex and Charlie’s coming out scenes. Something I have yet to mention though, is that I love how Alex turned to Tony when he was still in the midst of questioning his sexuality. It was a really sweet moment and it showcased Tony and Alex’s friendship. I also love that Tony answered the question without questing Alex on why he was asking. Tony could have asked Alex if he was questioning his sexual identity or something else but he chose not to because it’s not his place.
Speaking of Tony, I adored the scene with his father when Caleb told him about Tony’s college opportunity. Tony was so adamant on turning it down because he wanted to keep the auto shop going and to hear his father tell him that Tony is his dream was heartwarming. I think we all knew that his father just wants what is best for Tony but to hear him say it was important.
I did like the scene where the tape crew was reunited. It felt very full circle but I think they should have burned the tapes instead of burying them. I swear to god, if in 10 years this show gets a reboot because someone finds the tapes I’m going to die. I was a bit confused though since it didn’t appear that all the tapes were in the box. And I still think Justin should have been a part of it in some way. After all, he was the start of the tapes. Bryce may have brought them all together in a twisted way, but without Justin they wouldn’t have existed either.
Everything considered, I’m glad we did get to see Jess and Justin together in the end. To me they are endgame — even though Diego tries to get Jess to date him right after Justin’s death. I’ll cherish the prom scene and even the scenes in the hospital forever.
Also regarding Justin’s fate, I loved his final scene with Clay. The series spends so much time trying to get us to believe that Justin found a brother in Bryce, but I never bought it. Justin’s only brother was Clay and that essay proved that. It was so heartfelt and sad and I loved it. I also love that Clay admits to Justin that he doesn’t know how to go on without him but Justin assures him that he does.
I also did like the ending scene with Clay and Tony, even though in my perfect world it was Clay and Justin driving off to college together. It was a nice full circle moment. Although, I will admit my anxiety was through the roof because I seriously thought they were going to get into an accident. After all, it is 13 Reasons Why.
Lastly, I want to discuss the final scene at the police station between Alex’s dad and Sheriff Diaz. I spent a lot of this season and last season hating Sheriff Diaz but he certainly redeemed himself in that moment. There’s no doubt in my mind that he realized that Alex was the one who killed Bryce. And yet, he understood that Alex is a good kid who doesn’t deserve to be in jail. He understood that Bryce and Monty were both monsters. He knew that if the truth got out Alex’s dad would fall apart. His speech about putting family before his job was important and impactful.
As I’ve said, of all the shitty things this show has done the one thing they actually got right was letting Alex walk free. I never would have forgiven them if they had sent Alex to jail. After all, he’s not a monster he’s the hero of the story.
* * *
I still have mixed feelings about the final season and I think I will for the rest of time. Had they not have killed Justin I feel like I would have felt a lot better about the conclusion of the show. But if 13 Reasons Why has taught me anything its that life is not fair and that we cannot let tragedy dictate our entire lives. We must live (and continue watching questionable television shows).
You can stream the final season of 13 Reasons Why on Netflix.

Thoughts on Gilmore Girls
So I've recently watched all of Gilmore Girls. It was one of those shows that I used to watch on TV after school while doing my homework, so depending on the time I came home and the workload... Well I couldn't watch it everyday so it was one of those shows I had seen some episodes of but not all of them.
And lately I've been in that mood... That mood that makes me want to entirely watch shows I used to catch on TV after school but never fully saw from start to finish. So a few weeks ago I started my Gilmore girls adventure and... Oh boy was it good.
A really good thing about the show is that even though a lot of things happened that I do not like/approve of, I still love it so much. The characters are so loveable, you just love the show for them, stars hollow and.. Well you know what I mean. It's kinda weird because there were still a lot of things I disliked but it's kind of what makes the show great? Or not really, BUT what is great is, it shows that a show doesn't have to be absolutely perfect to be an absolute fave.
First, saying that, it makes me think of a simple thing : I miss the old shows, the ones with long openings with songs you would know by heart after a few episodes and all the main actors appearing during the opening too. Aw this doesn't exist anymore and even though we skip through them, we like them and from time to time we just watch them to sing and enjoy the song because with a simple melody all of the memories of the show resurface. Current shows can't relate. And I just like all the cute tiny "flaws" from old shows too. Like if you re-watch the first few episodes, Luke's diner is different, it's not located in the same place (I even think in the first episode Luke's diner appears twice and both time it shows it in a different location!), stars hollow is different, the gazebo is not at the center of the park, Kirk doesn't even exist and Sean Gunn is just a foreign dude for everybody in stars hollow and appears as different guys a few times before actually becoming Kirk that everybody knows since... Forever! I just love how before the shows were still evolving for a few episodes before becoming what they would be for the rest of the show. Now EVERYTHING must be perfect from the first episode. Idk I guess I find old shows endearing.
Anyway, so maybe I should kinda start with my actual thoughts?
1- I hated that they made Rory cheat on Dean and just stay with him when she very obviously liked Jess. I feel like a lot of people hate Dean but I feel like honestly most of his reactions were always justified? I am not saying that it's okay to react the way he did several times. In a perfect world this shouldn't be done but people aren't perfect and his reactions were natural and justified. People hate him for being mad when Rory didn't say "I love you" back, like he expected her to say it back because that's what one "should do" (in his mind, according to people hating on Dean) when they are being confessed to. I think he wasn't mad AT her. You have to think like a 16yo boy. For the first time ever (probably) you tell a girl you love her and she just freezes. If his reaction is over the top it's just because he feels so ashamed. He feels like he has bared his soul, and she didn't say a word so as a defense mechanism he gets angry, not really at her but it just covers the fact that he's ashamed. I feel like if she would have said something instead of freezing (even something like "oh wow that's unexpected, wow, I don't know what to say, sorry, what did I do to deserve a boyfriend like you" or like just something to diffuse the blank and the awkwardness) he wouldn't have reacted that way. An older, wiser guy/Dean wouldn't have acted that way but a 16yo one, baring his soul for the first time.... the alarm bells must have been ringing in his mind. Same for his reactions at the dance or when he talks to Jess after he sees him and Rory kiss. For the former, he's been suspicious for a while, hurting because he can feel his gf growing apart even though she says she loves him, and when he catches her and Jess exchanging looks, obviously he would be mad. He must be feeling like he's being toyed with for way too long. And for the latter, he's mad, and for the first time ever he lets himself have that cocky attitude he's seen Jess act with for quite some time. And he knows that even though he's still new to the town, he has the town's support because he has done a great job fitting in (hence saying "this is my town". People give him a hard time for that but it's definitely his town in the sense that even though Jess' family has been here forever, Jess is new in town and arrived later. so Dean came first, he's more of "the town" on that aspect AND everybody likes him when Jess... Well... You know. So Dean definitely "owns" the town). So even though Rory is currently blinded by her love for Jess, Dean knows that he has the upper hand in everything, and Rory might end up changing her mind after a flirt with that bad boy that blinded her for a while (that's Dean's thinking, not my opinion). Anyway all that to say, I read a lot of things about how Dean is the worst, and even though he is for sure not perfect, I don't understand all the hate. (but dude after what rory has done to you you should have known better than cheating on your wife). I was personally more mad at Rory for cheating on him and staying with him all this time when she only had Jess in mind. I for sure was mad at her for the way she acted but I don't see people hating on her for that. Not that I'm looking for people hating but like I haven't really seen people talking about her flaws but always the guys'. But anyway when she cheats she's 16/17, and even though she has that perfect boyfriend I can understand that when a bad boy that oh-so-surprisingly is also a big bookworm appears she can be swooning for a while). It's not the only time I disliked Roy's attitude/decision but to be honest I was so sad after finishing the show, I didn't want to leave those characters and start something else and forget about them so.... I restarted watching it and I'm currently at that stage so that's why it's my first exemple and that's why I feel so strongly about it right now.
2- I literally HATE how they changed Dean's character. At first he was this really knowledgeable guy, who had a pretty good knowledge in books and movies, and rory would make him read new stuffs, they would debate on it, Lorelai and Rory would show him movies he wouldn't know etc, but they had a real connection and real exchanges and debates. And I feel that to make Jess be THAT guy she can have stimulating conversations and debates with, they decided to make Dean kind of.... Dumber??? Like at one point Jess asks Rory what her and Dean talk about, and she's like really vague... I don't understand we've seen them exchanging books and stuff so much in the first season, why do they act like he's interested in nothing later? Just to make Jess more relevant and a good match for Rory? He literally brings nothing new to the table (except for that bad boy attitude) compared to season 1 Dean. But of course I guess when Jess was written Dean was too perfect so suddenly in season 2 he doesn't read, doesn't know anything about movies or music? I honestly feel like it's so shitty what they've done to this character. They should have thought about it beforehand instead of writing a perfect guy. Season 1 Dean was a bookworm, had knowledge in movies, but also liked sports, he had interest in mechanics, I swear they made a really good guy with various interests (not talking about the personality here) and didn't choose a stereotype-y kind of guy but then he ended up being too good so to be overshadowed by Jess they had to make him kinda dumber with 0 similar interests with Rory. That sucks. Am I the only one that noticed it? They could have at least kept that when Jess arrived and made Rory say that they talk about books and stuff. Jess being a bigger bookworm that actually always has a book on him just like Rory would still have had the same effect.
I'm staying on the Dean topic because as I write I remember other stuffs I've read on Dean. People hate him for that episode where they basically interpret what he says as "I want a woman that stays at home and cooks for me, nothing else". There's a difference between saying "I like the idea of having my girlfriend/wife cooking for me" and saying "women should not work but rather stay home and make her life's goal to make ME happy". Like, obvisouly if you told me that I could have my boyfriend cook me dinner I would also say "yes I want, I'd love that". It doesn't mean that I consider that his goal in life should be to make me food, it just means that yes the idea of having my boyfriend cook dinner when I come home is enjoyable. That's all it means. Kinda linked to all that is people saying that he dislikes/is threatened by Rory's ambition. He's said so many times that she is smart, she is Harvard material, that he's proud etc, how can the fact that he's asking her what they'll do when she's in Harvard is a proof that he is threatened. He's actually being really smart and realistic. That's a real question that should be asked and that they should think of. And when he's unhappy that she spends the summer studying rather than spending time with him, it's normal for him to be sad not to be able to spend time with his girlfriend when he was obviously thinking "yay holidays I'll be able to spend time with my girlfriend" and is just sad not to be able to see her more often even though they're supposed to be on holidays. He's not saying she sucks and she should drop out, he's just disappointed not to be able to enjoy the holidays how he thought he would. I don't know I think a lot of things that people hate Dean for are pretty justified ones and people just make them what they're not just because #TeamJess so they have to make Dean look bad. Idk honestly I understand a lot of these things and I think I would have acted in a similar way so maybe I'm a bad person too, hate on me people.
BTW this also makes me think of Logan's "ultimatum" that people seem to hate him for. To me it wasn't an ultimatum and his proposal and the reasons behind are completely logical??? They've been in a long distance relationship for a while, I understand the fact that he doesn't want to do that again and how it would be going backwards when he's head over heels for her and he very obviously wants to spend eternity by her side. Obviously doing it when he knows he has to move to the west coast which, by saying yes would force Rory to move too, is not perfect but anyway she always wanted to be on the move so being in LA or NYC or Stars Hollow wouldnt have changed much things for her since she would be spending her time on the road for her job. Obviously her family is essential so LA is not the best choice but if, again, they would have made Rory say "wait, let's talk about it" I'm sure they would have find a solution to work things out rather than making her say no on the spot and making it look like an ultimatum.
Until now I've voiced my opinions on Rory and Dean (and a bit of Logan), I guess these are my only thoughts concerning individual characters so what I want to say before moving on to other subjects is that those flaws that you can find in characters, even making Rory cheat on Dean, I actually like it. I like that they made those choices and all the characters, even the main ones, are flawed. Because nobody's perfect so it makes them so.... Normal? Relatable. Obviously I hate the fact that Rory cheats on her boyfriend but having a main character doing something bad, being flawed, is such a strength for a show. It shows exactly that nobody's perfect, we all make mistakes, and it's alright because that's what life's about. It doesn't prevent the characters to grow and become amazing characters later on (talking about growth and becoming amazing, kudos to Jess).
3- I really regret ONE thing. The fact that they didn't use all the seasons to show Emily and Lorelai work through their problems. There's been literally no improvement in their relationship from start to finish. Actually if you consider "a year in the Life", their relationship seems to be even worse than before (but I don't really wanna talk about a year in the life because I honestly thought all the episodes were pretty depressing, and if you think 10 years are supposed to have passed.... Why are almost all the characters still stuck in the same place/situation, Rory not having a successful career (this I can understand even though it's sad, but we see a full year with no improvement?) and still having no stability in her relationships, cheating on a poor guy no one thinks or cares about and doing with Logan and Odette was she has done before with Dean... I swear why have they made these decisions). What I regret is that Emily has kind of been all along a "comic relief", not in the sense that Emily is funny but because of her mother daughter relationship with Lorelai was always the perfect occasion to have Lorelai spit a lot of funny and witty lines. And I LOVE Lorelai and her wit. But I just wish the writers would have used all these years to show improvement. Obviously there's improvement in the sense that before season 1 Lorelai went only a few days a year to her parents' place. But still, from the first to the last episode, there's been no change. Lorelai being like "ugh kill me my mother is here" and Emily being still so cold. Meeting at least once a week for 7 years should have had more of an impact on their relationship. And even though we've seen snippets of emotional scenes where you can see how hurt Emily is or this kind of stuff, there's been no real improvement (and even though the revival shows an actual will to work on their relationship, they seem to be in a worst place than ever so..... Yeah.).
4- finally I want to talk about something that really, REALLY irritated me. The fact that they would spend episodes talking about something and then we would see nothing of..... The thing, and would directly have a scene at the end of after.... The thing. I have no example right now but I noticed it happened several times. They would hype me about something I would end up seeing nothing of and I hated it. I understand that the important point is the relationship between Lorelai and Rory (so the important thing would be their conversation after the thing and what they say about it) but still when you spend episodes talking about something, please show me a little bit of it at least ;-; so what I mean is... I was irritated with the writing sometimes haha but I swear it happened several times and it was so frustrating. Overall I have often disliked they choices when it came to the writing, the decisions they made for the characters, I would definitely not be happy about what would happen..... Actually when you think about it, pretty much all my points are complaints about the writing of the characters (or like consistent writing) or their choices haha But that's what makes it crazy how they are so many things I dislike or disagree with, but i still love the show very very much. So yeah it definitely means that finding flaws or just things you disagree with doesn't make a show bad. It just means that people don't think the same way and don't expect the same things but it doesn't prevent them from enjoying and loving the show anyway
Anyway this is way too long, I have to stop babbling, it's 4am, I've been writing for what feels like 2 hours and I'm pretty sure I've even forgotten things I wanted to say. If you've read all that........ Why.... How..... Thanks? If you did drop a star emoji!

Cynco
1) when they first intrigued me
Now obviously 3x11 introduced us to Gypsy in a big way & the second Cisco laid eyes on her, you can tell he was smitten. He is throughout the episode and honestly, it’s pretty adorable. So yeah, Gypsy flirting with him & him constantly trying to get her to go out on a date with him? Yeah, I was instantly intrigued by each interaction they had in that episode. They had a chemistry right away. They teased her coming back but I didn’t ship it yet cuz I didn’t know whether to trust that or not with the way they’d played my boy in the past. But still, I was definitely ready to ship if she came back. That almost kiss!!!
Scene #1
Scene #2
2) when I started to ‘ship’ them (sometimes this is different if you think about it)
Omg 3x14 gave us some good stuff here! Gypsy coming back had me excited cuz I thought she was an interesting character who (haha) vibed well with Cisco. The second I knew I was shipping these two regardless if she was gonna keep coming back or not was their last scene of the ep. She spontaneously kisses him (which gave Jesse & Wally’s priceless reactions I had to get a cap of cuz LOL) & tells him that he couldn’t handle her, kisses him & walks away! That sass tho!!! And he just says “I wanna marry that girl” XD Priceless.
Scene
3) when I knew they were OTP status (as in there was literally no other ship for them I would want)
I mean, in truth it was before this but it’s because of this episode & moments like this I thought maybe they were really gonna include her more aww this heartfelt confession from Gypsy was adorable & a big step in their relationship. She wanted to get cheesy with Cisco!! hehe Also LOL at the end when she’s like “it’s like he doesn’t know he’s a dead man” XD
Scene
4) Favorite quote
“How did you vibe that I was in trouble?”
“Because we are connected, jack ass!” - 3x23 (Lol I just love how it sums them up well)
Scene
5) Favorite scene
I’m pulling a tie with this one cuz both of these scenes are perfect in their own way.. I love the date scene & Cisco saying he’ll always make it up to her. :’) And they look so pretty together. I also love the 4x04 bedroom scene with all the banter about her name & everything. And then enters her dad. LOL
Scene #1
Scene #2
6) Scene that made me cry
Their breakup!!! The acting in that scene got to me more than I anticipated. It’s because Carlos & Jessica Camacho were so game. The kisses & the tears. Like I said, it got to me. I’m gonna need the show to make this right someday.
Scene
7) Scene that pissed me off
Um, definitely them having her say that their long distance relationship where they barely saw each other was enough even though they loved each other & I mean… it wasn’t so much OOC. I get it with Gypsy’s character but it was really frustrating imo. They barely had screentime in S4. We didn’t really get to be invested in their relationship & then they broke them up like that. I just want my boy Cisco to have love & Gypsy was perfect for him I thought. When he teared up in this scene I wanted to hug him!
Scene
8) Favorite underrated moment
Lol I just love how they were in their own little world with her dad in the same room being all cutesy. “That’s my job.” “Oh, that’s right, it is.” hehe Not to mention he finds out her real name!
9) Song that makes me think of them
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tuK6n2Lkza0
Hmm… I had to think about it. Cuz honestly, why I loved them, I’ve never really felt inspired to vid them actually. At least in a standalone vid. So I never had to go song searching for them today. And honestly, this one is kinda a weak choice but it’s fun & flirty like they were in those early S3 eps & well Gypsy does wear leather. lol (ignore all the ‘you were with another man’ & maybe it works. idk lol)
10) Favorite video of them
youtube
Not that there’s many to choose from. lol Saw like a total of 3 videos but this one was really well-made and also made me sad over their breakup all over again. bawl

My thoughts on tonight's show...sorry for the length!!
Okay that episode was literally a fanfic come to life. From the walking arm in arm, to Lucy singing about her love for Wyatt, to having sex in freaking Hedy Lamarr's mansion...everything about it was perfect!! Normally with a show, an episode will end and I will read a fanfic to fill in the blanks or to make up for where something went wrong, but the Timeless writers totally nailed it with this episode. I loved the song choice for Lucy, it was a perfect song not just for the situation but also for her voice. I knew Abby could sing but I totally underestimated just how good her voice actually is. And the look on Wyatt's face as he is watching her😍 The whole pool/bedroom scene was every Lyatt supporter's dream come true and now its canon!! Rufus walking in on them to the next morning had me laughing out loud just because of his reaction 😂 I was a little annoyed by them getting #Clockblocked yet again, but the previous scenes made up for it. Lucy and Wyatt's last scene just about broke my heart though. They went from discussing how they are officially a thing to Wyatt getting a text taking off and the look on Lucy's face was heartwrenching. I'm really not sure how I feel about Jessica coming back yet. On one hand, I don't mind because I like angst once in a while and every couple goes through it and we were reassured that it does, in fact, advance their relationship. On the other hand, I hate it because as happy as Wyatt was to see Jessica, he and Lucy were just getting started. You could see the conflict in his eyes as he was hugging Jess. And on that note, something is up with her. I'm not sure what it is but her expression was hard to read. I'm pretty certain she knows who he is because otherwise he would never know she was back, but she is hiding something big because she was sketchy around him. I definitely think Rittenhouse has something to do with her reappearance, but I'm not sure she is actually part of Rittenhouse. I feel like that would almost be a cop-out. Anyways, if you can't tell, I adored this episode and I can't wait for the next one.

Where the Road Goes - Reaction
The gang gathers for a one-year memorial service for a beloved friend; Jess discovers Coach owes Nick a large sum of money.
Reaction:
I’m going to try to split this one up by storyline to keep myself from rambling too much.
Since New Girl keeps posting spoilers on their social media, I knew this was Furguson’s funeral, but I didn’t realize it was actually a year later. The son of a bitch cat got me good. He got everyone good. I love how much everyone loves Winston, I mean Furguson. Everything from Winston’s eulogy to everyone’s kind (murderous?) words at the bar, it was perfect. I especially loved Dr. Sam’s cameo at the beginning and Robbie’s later on. Dr. Sam is really putting himself out there and I’m loving it. I’m so glad he came back. And in a total unobtrusive way. It was so funny. His cat shirt was fantastic. And of course Robbie’s appearance! He’s a laser pointer! Absolutely dying at that visual!! (Oh and I really want to read all this correspondence regarding the memorial. It sounds really extensive.) And last but not least, the return of Dunston! I almost forgot about him. Every time he spoke/dropped the mic I laughed loudly and clapped my hands. Literally. I am quite the sight when I watch New Girl.
So first up for bids, is Winston’s storyline. He hasn’t truly mourned his buddy’s passing. Poor guy! Aly spends most of the episode trying to get him to cry so he can work through it. Not even LAPD So La Ti Do’s cat-inspired rendition of “Mad World” can get him to shed a tear. Not even Furguson’s baby teeth either (he lost them all in the same day hahahahha). Could’ve done without Coach eating one though. This storyline picks up again a little later when Winston tells Jess that Furguson died of a heart attack and goes on to tell the story of that day. Shockingly, that story doesn’t get him to cry. Instead he hears a meowing sound and Aly sends everyone off to search for the cat that she thinks is just in her husband’s mind.
I find Nick and Coach’s spat really strange. Maybe because author Nick is still something I’m trying to wrap my head around, let alone successful, rich author Nick. And it just seemed way too out of character for Coach to try to open a restaurant. Like wouldn’t May tell him that’s dumb? Anyway, I guess it’s fine because the entire episode was fantastic and reminded me of the good old days and made up for it. And Nick and Coach’s banter was oddly endearing. I just miss Coach so much!! Even if he does call Nick “ham-calves.” It take Jess to pull them aside like the little boys they are behaving as to get them to spit out what the problem is. As it turns out, Coach owes Nick $71,000. Yeah, I’d be mad too.
So Nick and Coach’s argument kind of segues into Nick wanting to tell Jess all of his secrets. Which leads to Jess telling Nick a very, very dark one of her own. She killed Furguson and Nick is so unbelievably shook. He can’t even get through their special Furguson poem (I’d love to hear the whole thing). Honestly just the idea of these two knuckleheads rehearsing their rhyming couplets has me laughing. Then he just blurts out that Jess did the dirty deed, causing her to own up to the crime in front of everyone (Dunston’s gasp omg) and run away. Thankfully Winston saves Jess’ guilt by explaining that Furguson died of a heart attack, not by her accidentally poisoning him with her crafts. A few scenes later, we pick up Nick and Jess again in the back office. Side note, it’s kind of sad to hear Nick no longer owns the bar after that was such a big part of his character early on. The two share a drink and Nick tells Jess he’d be her accomplice. So cute. He also admits that he didn’t tell her about the money before because that money was why they broke up before and he didn’t want to scare her off. Again, so cute! Loving the character development here. They’re in this together, cat murder and all.
Schmidt and Cece’s storyline was cute in a sad way. When Cece freaks out at the end, I may have teared up. And all of Schmidt overdramatized anxiousness is so perfectly him. He’s clearly grating on Cece. Again, just like the good old days! Haha. And of course love Schmidt asking Dunston to watch after Cece after he dies. So great.
The storylines begin to converge and wrap up with Jess sitting Nick and Coach down to resolve their issues. Nick really just misses talking to Coach. Me too, me too! Coach says he stopped talking to Nick because he was embarrassed and vows to pay him back, starting with $5,000 in cash. Nearby, Winston claws into the wall to save the cat he hears. Aly rushes over to him to confront him for not crying. Winston actually does cry/scream. Aly and Winston are so perfect together too. The rest of the gang walks over to the pair. Winston admits there wasn’t really a cat, but then Aly can suddenly hear a meowing too. They realize it’s the “bar cat” in the booth bench. He’s such a cute little kitten that instantly warms up to Winston! Turns out, he belongs to the bartender. So random, I love it. Jess ends up buying the cat with Nick’s $5,000 even though she wouldn’t accepted $50. And that’s pretty much all, folks! See ya next week!
Favorite quotes:
“As you all know from my many e-mails and a sponsored tweet, I looked at Furguson as Jewish.” —Winston
“What kind of adult man wouldn’t be here to support another adult man a year after his cat died?” —Coach
“Well, he was a good cat, he would have done the same for me.” —Jess
“We all have 20 minutes to talk cat.” —Nick
“The sca-bozos at the bake shop gunked it up again.” —Jess
“The sky is close and it’s made of wood.” —Outside Dave
“So we can go back in there and celebrate the life of a cat who, by the way, loved you both like sons.” —Jess
“I don’t want any skeletons on our shoulders.” —Nick
“I think I still got teeth in my teeth.” —Coach
“Hey, kitty cat, you’re a baby covered in hair— this is the voice I used to use to make Furguson come to me.” —Winston
To be clear, I loved nearly every single line
Predictions:
We’re going to have to wait till the end to get our Ness proposal and/or wedding… ugh ugh ugh

SPN 2X2 Everybody Loves a Clown
Ok the new previously on with rock music? and it’s different every time? that fucking SLAPS
AND IT’S PUT TOGETHER SO WELL IT’S LIKE AN FMV
also I’m technically an hour late, but till I go by the rule that If i don’t go to sleep it’s not tomorrow so Happy Birthday Dean!!
oh no please not a fucking clown episode I’m begging you
aaaaand the kid sees clowns that aren’t there that’s...great
OH NO WHY IS IT FOLLOWING HER HOME
Really does set in the “don’t go anywhere, hunker down and nothing will kill you”
more poignant for corona than I ever thought
oh fUCK It’S IN HER BACKYARD
NO DON’T GO TOWARDS IT
WHY ARE YOU LETTING IT IN THE HOUSE
oh is this a hunter’s funeral for john? the burning of the body and all that?
I appreciate the attention to detail in having them still keep the scars from episode one of this season
“did he say anything” “no” I am begging you both to communicate for christ’s sake
one week later
ah is this the mechanic montage? to get the impala back in shape
Sam: Dean you had an out of body experience, are you ok?
Dean: *aggressively works on his car*
the idea of hyper fixating on the only thing you can fix(car) vs the things you can’t(demon, can’t kill it, etc) yeah ok that fits
the ROADHOUSE?? ROADHOUSEEEEE???
god please oh please don’t kill the female characters I’ve heard they’re cool
Dean: tries to say something vaguely patronizing about rifle technique
Jo: PUNCHES HIM IN THE FACE
oh i love her already
ELLEN!! damn she’s fun
how does....Ellen know Dean and John were close
What the hell happened when Sam left I need to know
Dean is really just gonna be...standoffish...to literally any woman in authority
This guy(mullet guy? Ash?) just knows...so much shit?
I love the roadhouse oh my god home base makes me happy
and Ash just knows really fancy shit, calculates to the hour how long it was gonna take?? YE E MORE WORLD TIME
Dean please stop hitting on jo it feels weird for some reason
ah so it feels weird for him too ok
hahahaha she just lays out his entire schtick and calls it stupid
and Sam’s scared of clowns AHAHAHA
so we have Dean scared of flying and Sam with clowns, that’s perfect
“what dad would have wanted us to do” -Sam Ah so sam does end up being more sympathetic
“don’t be afraid of clowns” clowns are objectively terrifying sir what are you talking about
oh that FUCKING SHOT WHEN THE CLOWN SMILES AND THE MUSIC GOT ME OH MY GOD
Dean’s reaction to when Sam said something vaguely dirty/more like him is priceless
And Dean gets himself in trouble with two circus performers, one blind and one short? idk
Sam just likes watching his brother suffer
freakshow to asylum is a...weird take to have
Sam saying he doesn’t want to go to school feels....just
ah and Dean checks up on that statement
What the hell is the “Dad would have wanted”
and Dean “I don’t have a problem with that?” god please communicate a little better
Sam gets scared by a skeleton
“we’re writing a book about ghosts” there has to be a better option here Dean
i mean maybe, that’s not terrible it’s just kinda a weird excuse
maybe he got the sense that it wouldn’t go to well
The kid just...takes the clown in
and is...hypnotized
god that’s creepy
hey...you guys...if you wanna know why Ellen and John had a thing or not....you can ask
Dean: I’ll repress my feelings and maybe they’ll go away
Sam: no that’s not how this works
nice lighting in the scene they finally decide to yell it out
Dean’s got a point, picking until dead or dying to make it right is too little too late
ah...like John...underlying issues? perhaps?
at least they’re....talking and smiling....with each other.
ah the blind guy, he was weirdly clairvoyant about things
plus the fact that he’s the most likely to have brass knives either as a enemies close or a “force my foes to talk to me” thing is pretty nifty too
HELLA cool lighting shot of Dean in the fun house that makes me happy
OH brass organ pipes THAT’S A NICE TOUCH I LIKE THAT
THE TRICK WITH THE SMOKE TO SEE THE SPECTER? THAT’S ALSO COOL
lmao no one has mentioned Jess in...so long I just realized
Jo and Dean are sweet, the “wrong place wrong time,” Dean not going so hard, fuck it they’re fun whatever they are right now
ASH IS BACK!
he’s an MIT guy that’s so fun
and He’s protective of his keyboard and laptop :)
and “Ash give us a call”
Ellen: Hey if you need a place to stay
ISDAFHSPFI SUPPORT STRUCTURE! FINALLY!! YAYAYAYAY
that early seasons Sam haircut makes him look so young fdfahsofish
“I’m not ok, It’s too little too late” DFAIPSHFS SAM
“I’m not ok and neither are you” hurts me why must you hurt me
AH HERE’S THE SCENE WHERE DEAN JUST TRIES TO KILL THE CARS
and in true Dean Winchester fashion, he’s angry, refuses to let himself cry, and stares vaguely till the emotions go away
boy oh BOY wrap up time:
1. Ok Ellen, Jo, Ash and the Roadhouse, giving bits to the hunter world, adding incredibly compelling characters, holy fuck I AM HERE FOR IT. Like obviously I knew the Roadhouse was a Thing, but I didn’t expect how much I’d love it in concept as well as practice. I love Ellen and Jo, and that they’re gonna come back, I love Ash, just SO GOOD all around
2. the clown lore? The mystery was much better done this time around, there were cool lore elements(and misdirection) AND there were interesting ways to solve the problems(the brass pipes, the smoke, etc). The mystery aspect of this show is really coming into it I’m so excited.
3. Ok so obviously Sam and Dean are grieving in the not grieving ways they’re prone, but I think I can now kinda put something together. Just because we understand John’s motives, that doesn’t excuse his actions. And his actions are that he was a bad father, and it’s a bit too little too late. Especially taking into account the later seasons and how much it seems to have fucked up Dean specifically. I think we understand where he comes from, but he’s not supposed to be the Hero, nor is he, at all. One good action does not redeem a man. Which is funny, because this would generally make him a hero-type in a lot of similar media(notably pirates of the Caribbean, which is what I’m quoting) I feel like everything before and after that moment undo it. Let’s stick with grey for now, that seems safe.
4. I’m very excited to see where these characters go. Although it’s also funny to me that I forgot Jess existed because damn did they not mention her at all
aight till next week and the end of the semester
