One thing I’ve noticed is the Battle Subway is unique among battle facilities in being accessible early in the game - the second you reach Nimbasa you can challenge it. Other facilities are all post game - so in-universe, I feel like there’s a higher standard for challenging them. So, here’s an idea:

Ingo and Emmet have one long-standing serious argument that has never been resolved, and it’s the one of the very few times Ingo has pulled the elder brother card to ‘win’ : the debate over minimum requirements for challenging the Battle Subway. Ingo believes (and used his older twin status to implement) that there should be no restrictions on who challenges the Subway: all trainers are welcome, no matter their skill level, to come test their mettle! Pursue ever greater heights no matter where you start! 

Emmet would like there to be a minimum badge requirement. He doesn’t want to bore the Subway’s pokemon and depot agents with unfulfilling battles from trainers who aren’t serious - it means the front end agents get overwhelmed while the later teams don’t see as much work. Also, it can be pretty crushing for young trainers to be absolutely curbstomped by competitive teams. They may not wish to come back if they can’t even get past the first agent! So for that, Emmet would like trainers to have at least some experience with the gym circuit before taking on their Subway - that way he knows there’s at least some level of seriousness to their intentions.

It’s the whole Ideals vs Truth thing the twins have going on: Ideally, every trainer has the potential to reach great heights! But the truth is, not everyone is that strong - or wants to get that strong.

during this time of stepping back and being super picky with how and who u spend ur time with its the perfect opportunity to separate urself from the toxicity that some people in ur life might bring. in that same breath, its easier said for friends then it is for family members because when u think isolation ur probably thinking of being a home-body which is a part of it. but if ur home is whats making u sick then try and spend time AWAY of the home to do whatever u need to do.

self awareness and responsibility : take a moment and be truly objective with urself. practice having the difficult conversations with urself. u know ur goals, but are u the person that can have those goals? and if not, how can u get to become that person.

TELL ME ALL ABOUT IT /nf ofc I'm just really curious as to how our ideas compare and contrast :D

I'll be honest it's not really set in stone. It started as a joke concept of Boat Boys since I was talking to my friend about how they're obsessed but infatuated like how Odysseus is with Penelope in the Odessey.

<Massive ramble incoming>

It's very loosely based on Epic since there's some things in epic that would be hard to work around and also I feel bad putting some people in certain roles. Since it's loosely based on it, everything I post about it won't always be following the story because I had this really stupid idea of Grian following Scar to the underworld after he died bc he's in love. /silly

Over all its a very stupid au.

Mainly its Joel fighting in the war for years so he can return to Etho. Unlike Odysseus though, Joel carries an oar given to him from Etho everywhere he goes. The end is sharpened into a spear and is enchanted with fire aspect. The bands wrapped around his arms are from Scar who believes they will bring him safety. Throughout the journey, Joel will cycle through a lot of looks as he grows in age and changes. Near the end of the war and beginning of the story, he's inspired by his Stratos outfit. As he's in the underworld his hair grows out and covers more, he looks more like (my design) of Bad Boy Joel from Limited Life. Only difference is that instead of his hair being wild, it's long braids that he's never touched. And then when he finally returns home he'll look more like his skins in the early Life Series with long hair, long beard and obviously out for blood. He's a man with a trail of bodies and isn't afraid to leave more.

Beef takes the place of Eurlylocus, as Joel's second in command and a brother in arms. Beef is the one of the people always by his side and knows what Joel is fighting for. He makes the most level headed decisions but won't hesitate when he thinks it's time to kill or leave. While Joel wants a peaceful way out, Beef will do what it takes to make sure their men survive. When perishing in the storm, Beef is found with Scar in the underworld. Speaking of llamas-

Scar takes the place of Polites. Throughout the story the amount of scars he has grows from his working on the ship. Most on his face and chest are from the war, but a good portion of the ones on his arms are from working on the galley. He uses a bow and his sharp aim had gained him a title in the war, but he's actually fairly strong, tying ropes around his arms and fallen men to drag them across the battlefield. He'll tie the rope to multiple oars on the ship so people can have breaks. A lot of his scars are barely seen as scars now and more as his stories. A walking display of honour and comradery. Some say he was blessed by one of the gods for his silliness and bravery. Sometimes being near him you can hear faint laughter. Some think it's the messenger god. Others believe it's the vex that haunt the lotus eaters. Scar is a mystery to a lot of them.

Now that we got the boring ones out of the way (/that's a joke, I love them)

THE GODS

From what ones I've posted so far there's a few that I think I've finally settled on.

Skizz takes the place of Posiden. And yeah yeah I hear you, Xb would've made a great Posiden he's literally known for guardian stuff. But while I agree, I think Skizz would make a better fit to match the energy and motives from the musical.

Instead of Skizz having a son and that's what sends him into drowning Joel's ship, Skizz made a friend. Which is odd for the gods seeing as they're above everything. Skizz found a cyclops one day on the shores with his sheep. He would spend his days around it til eventually the cyclops just told him he knew he was there. Weirdly enough, he ended up becoming really attached to this cyclops. They became close friends and something that Skizz really cared about, even if he couldn't see him that often without being caught or seen. When Skizz returns one day to see that his friend is blinded and suffering, he goes into a rage and follows Joel to make him pay.

The cyclops is Impulse. He's kind, but if you wrong him then it's over. His sheep were a gift from Skizz and to have them slaughtered is a crime that won't go unpunished.

Gem is Athena. I actually struggled with who to make Athena because so many of them would make a great Athena. Honestly all the female hermits I've struggled with. Gem is Athena, the god of wisdom and war. She helps Joel until she realises the mistake she's made and leaves him to suffer his own consequences. Gem can take the disguise of a deer and sometimes owl when she's with Pearl. Pearl also gifted her two fish, Aylin and Lucien. One of the moon and one of light. They are disguised under her cloak as a part of the patterns she wears but are used as messangers and omens for those who look. Her fish are actually how she found out that Skizz had gotten attached to Impulse. She promised she wouldn't tell and mostly teases him about it.

Pearl takes the place of Artemis. Her post actually had more information on her than the others. She displays the current moon above her head at all times. During the day she'll stay in busy areas so she won't be noticed or hide in people's shadows or reflections. When she hunts she has her pack of wolves. Mortals say that when a blood moon happens, she had killed or avenged a god. And when a blue moon happens, she is mourning the loss of someone. During new moons, her eyes glow and like how cats look in the dark. New moons are most likely times that you'll ever run into her, even if you don't notice.

GRIAN. Ough sorry but I LOVE how Hermes is depicted in Epic. There's no way I couldn't make him Grian. He has a habit of watching everything that's happening. Especially with Scar. He'd whiz through the battlefield unseen by the gods just to grant him small blessings at a time to aid his fight. When he returned eventually to the ship and found that a bunch of men had died, including Scar, he started taking longer trips to the underworld. It's not often he stops to sightsee. Always places to go, places to be, orders to be carried out and messages to be sent. But for once he doesn't take the quickest route. Will take detours. He won't get close, he never has and never will. But he'll spot Scar's spirit mindlessly singing and spreading hope throughout the underworld, and will enjoy it for only a moment before leaving. When helping Joel, he wants nothing more than to see him escape safely. Though he does mess with him a bit. Pulling a few pranks here and there until he reveals himself. After the underworld saga, Grian is seen carrying Scar's old bow that had been blessed by him and Pearl. If anyone asks he'd just say that he was taking back what was rightfully his. He has no use for it, but it is his none the less.

Circe and Aeolus are still in the works because as I said before, I keep switching the female hermits to and fro and can't decide. Though I've got an idea of who I want them to be.

Idk man this whole au was supposed to be a joke to teach my friend about the Odessey through Epic and it somehow became serious and I really like it and like designing it and oh my god I cannot wait for Thunder saga because then we get to see more of the full pantheon and I already have ideas of who's gonna be who.

But yeah. That's ehhh.... That's all I can think of off the top of my head. What's hard is not confusing this with my Hades au which is a whole 'nother can of worms I do NOT wanna touch rn XD

Nacht vs. Nozel Part 2 (Nozel victory!)

This is a part 2 to this post. I've already posted a Nacht victory version of part 2 (as a request) but to show the fandom's favorite silver prince some love too, I decided to give Nozel a victory as well!

In the time since Nozel and Nacht have started their battle for your heart, you've grown even closer with Nozel.

Because you're with the Black Bulls and he's leading the Silver Eagles, you two don't have too much spare time to spend together.

So it's a lot of letters and speaking through magic communication devices.

Often times, you don't wait for a reply and just send Nozel letters whenever you feel like you have enough to tell him.

Nozel will write you pages and pages of stuff in his letters, responding to multiple letters at once and generally wanting to share a lot with you.

One day, Nozel asks to borrow you for a mission. The Silver Eagles were investigating a dungeon that was protected with a magic darkness that only Light Magic could dispel so you were needed.

Using your Light Magic and Nozel's Mercury Magic in conjunction, lighting up the dungeon even at far distances is an easy feat.

"I used to think that I could get by on my own strength, but it's experiences like this that make me appreciate the ability to combine my strength with others'."

"I can't say it as poetically, but I like working with you too!"

For some reason, you both blush over the exchange.

You casually hang out at the Silver Eagles base frequently and it's always something new.

One day, Nozel would teach you how to play chess or some other high society board game. Another day, you'd explain several of your childhood games to Nozel while trying to encourage him to play them with you (despite most of them needing several people to play properly).

You've introduced each other to different music and literature. Despite your limited understanding of high society, Nozel once had you rolling on the floor as he explained the humor of a short story mocking political subterfuge.

Sometimes, during your visits, Nebra and Solid would poke their head in and make a remark about your "disloyalty" to the Black Bulls. "You're already so comfy here. And I bet the Silver Eagles robe would look splendid on you!" Things like that.

Nozel lets you see a side of himself that rarely anyone sees because he knows you won't judge him. He lets himself relax with you because you relax yourself with him.

Your infectious energy and positive outlook are something he finds himself holding onto in his heart.

Nozel's customary kiss on the hand as greeting makes your heart race more as time goes on. And you find yourself growing eager to have it happen every time you see each other.

And then one day, Nozel forgoes the cordial bow and simply brings your hand to his lips and looks you directly in the eyes as he gives his greeting.

Your heart practically stops because "what was that look?!?!?!?!?!"

After the party, you end up going to Nacht to talk out your feelings.

"Something about the way he looked at me made it seems more than friendly," you tell Nacht. "And I... I want that to be the case. Nacht, I think I love Nozel."

For a moment, Nacht is quiet before he finally replies, "I don't think I've seen you happier than this moment, realizing your feelings."

Nacht gives you a plan for confessing to Nozel and you doubt him at first but decide to go along with it.

The next time you and Nozel meet, Nozel of course kisses your hand. Nozel is about to let go of your hand when you grasp his back and pull him in to give a kiss on the cheek.

Nozel's faces is beat red when you do that. He clears his throat and averts his eyes while muttering, "And I thought I was being forward."

You'd tell him that it's not your fault that he played off kissing your hand as something totally non-romantic for years. He's just that refined.

Nacht would quickly give Nozel a pat on the shoulder and whisper "Don't mess this up. I won't be kind if you hurt them."

Now that you and Nozel are a couple, you both make it a point of kissing each other's hands.

hm, i go a little back and forth on this bc when dealing with dating killers that have at most a limited amount of empathy capability, emotional, feely stuff is back and forth

But I feel like that's accurate, like one day, you could burst into tears and Billy would be 10/10 attentive physically because he doesn't have the right vocabulary,, and then the next he'd just sort of freeze up or get manipulative

Let's get into the good days though

If Billy knows something's going on that could lead to you crying, he'd take a preventative approach on a good day

Softly rubbing your back while you do whatever the thing that could make you cry is

Won't make you talk about the root of the problem, but will listen more than he lets on if you do want to

If you want to be distracted, he'll think of something else for the two of you to do together

In that vain, if you needed a minute, you'd get as far as the bathroom.

He doesn't like leaving you alone when he knows you're emotional, a part of it goes back to his abandonment issues with his mom.

He may not know a lot about feelings and isn't above the occasional manipulative ploy,, but he knows he doesn't ever want you to feel like that

A small part of him worries that if he does leave you like that you might either resent him or somehow start associating bad feelings with him and try to leave him

He also doesn't like feeling shut out, and likes feelings trusted

Speaking of feeling trusted, that feeling of vulnerability makes it easier for him to be understanding

Even when he doesn't get it or feels like something's dumb, he knows not to say that because he doesn't want you shutting him out

The fact that you're willing to cry in front of him kind of makes the medicine go down easy

Depending on what it is, might even encourage you to try again Now, onto the not so great days

It's rare that Billy's cruel (out loud, bc his lack of empathy thoughts aren't always the nicest) about you getting emotional, bc he doesn't want to feel like you're going to leave

But there are a few exceptions, the main one being if it involves something/someone that makes him feel jealous/territorial

Like if you're crying over a project that you're working on with some guy, his reaction to that will vary in levels of passive aggression

Or if you're crying because of some fight with friends he feels like you spend too much time with, he'll be even more aggressive/manipulative about it

"Only want me when your new friends are making you cry, huh?" type of thing

Will for sure use these moments to encourage a state of co-dependency, like reminding you how much you need him bc of who or what made you cry

Okay, so similar levels of versatility to Billy, just bc i see them both having trouble understanding emotions, and having even more trouble caring about other people’s feelings

Just bc you’re the exception to Stu not ever really taking into consideration other people’s feelings doesn’t mean he knows how to help

So his first instinct on days where he’s a little more patient/understanding is to try to change the subject

Sometimes it feels like he’s trying to redirect you like you’re a toddler with too much energy 😭

Like if you’re tearing up or crying over let’s say not understanding homework or getting a bad grade, Stu suddenly remembers this movie he’s been dying for you to see or randomly has a need to go out for ice cream or do anything that could make you stop thinking about something 

It’s normally nice, even when it doesn’t feel super helpful to you, because you know it’s his way of showing that he cares

He’ll also probably make fun of whatever/whoever is at the heart of the issue

The jokes have a range depending on how upset you are, if you’re feeling better he’ll probably be a little ruder/more open about his dislike

If you’re super upset, he’ll make fun of it in a more lighthearted way,, will probably also make the insulting parts of the joke more ridiculous so that you laugh

Definitely goes out of his way to try to make you laugh on his more understanding days

He’s also super touchy, will hold onto you in one way or another, usually won’t let go until way after you’ve calmed down

He says it’s just to be sure,, but you have a feeling he has some personal motivations

Now, on his less understanding days, Stu’s first instinct is to manipulate 

He sees how emotional you are as an opportunity to push you towards co-dependency,, so he’ll go out of his way to baby you

It’s generally nice,, he’s super attentive, but if you try to do anything for yourself while upset, he’ll be bothered

There is some intended manipulation there, but it’s also because he doesn’t know how to talk about his feelings, at least not without layers of innuendos and sarcastic quips to hide the actual feely stuff 

So all he has to show you that he does care, that you do matter even though he might not get why you’re upset, is his actions 

It’s a mix of what he’s picked up from media and the softer things he never had anyone do for him when he was a child 

So it does feel a little patronizing when he goes too far with it, especially because it’s rooted in things no one’s done for him so it’s not like he has a lot of experience/examples on how to do it “correctly”

It’d be a lot sweeter if you knew why he gets like that, but besides a few implied comments, I can’t see him directly admitting this 

Honestly, not always a “bad” thing,, it just has the ability to get a little volatile depending on how you’re feeling and how moody Stu is that day 

Also definitely tries to throw money at the problem, will offer to take you shopping as “his treat” while you’re emotional/crying bc that’s the only supportive model he’s seen

Hi Atty! First, thank you for being a source of spooky, otherworldly joy in the world and on tumblr. Secondly, a while back (possibly quite a while back) you shared a link to some starting-a-small-business resources that (I think) you made. It was possibly a google doc? I had the link open in a tab for a very long time, but now that I’m about to finally start starting my own colorful business, I seem to have lost that particular tab, and tumblr’s search function is…well…it’s tumblr’s search function, and therefore less than functional. Am I correct in that recollection and/or what advice do you have for someone who has never done anything like this? I’m excited, but also a bit worried!

I cannot locate the document either, I'm afraid. I've been in multiple arguments discussions arguments (is correct) over the last several months as I've ventured into "Hey I have thoughts, maybe they are useful!" so I might have deleted it.

I can sum some basics up

Keep your costs low, especially as you start out. You have to build an audience and this takes time (that's the bad news). Once you build an audience your audience helps you build a larger audience (that's the good news). The tipping points of scale are invisible and you won't know you've reached them until you're past. Just keep going.

If you aren't making a profit consistently, this is a hobby. There is no moral difference between a hobby and a business. It boils down to "am I making money on this, or am I spending money on this."

If running the thing makes you more You than not running it, keep going, even if it costs you money -- but, doubly so here, keep the costs to an enjoyable limit.

The point I want to express is a lot of people start a weird business, it costs them a small fortune because they attempt to spend their way to success, it collapses under the weight of said costs, and they feel a failure.

Unless money is no object (because of financial resources external to the business or you are creating something that does not have a production cost), failure fundamentally does not exist.

Making money is hard. The more you make, the harder it is to make more, so keep all of this in mind when you're designing your labor systems. "I can put a card in an envelope" is easy. "I can put 100 cards in 100 envelopes" is more than 100x harder.

This is not to dissuade you, it is to prepare a bed of moss for when the honeymoon cloud ends.

Focus, tightly, why you're doing this.

If you want more money, a second job is going to give you more for less hours of work. If you want the world to be different, this is a great way to do it.

If you want both -- if you want this to be a solid source (if not your main source) of income -- that's great. I cannot stress this enough: prepare for the long haul. Decades -- not years, decades. I started in the mid 90s. I got successful in the mid 2010s.

The best news is you don't have to make that decision permanently, you can decide every day to do what you want, it's your shop.

When you get a lucky break and you think "did I deserve this lucky break" put that thought to bed. It doesn't matter.

When you get an unlucky break and you think "should I have done something different to prevent this" put that thought to bed. It doesn't matter.

Your main competition is going to be people you post your things without crediting you -- 99/100 times without malice. Your competition is not the people who make similar things as you.

Once you reach a threshold, "giant corporations who steal from you" can be added to that list.

The point: worrying about another independent creator's work is not useful energy. Unless they are directly stealing from you, just keep going.

This is a difficult set of tasks. Keep going. Every problem you have will have an industry built to solve it -- not a singular vendor, an entire industry. Find who you are comfortable with and can afford.

When you want to do ABC and you can't afford it, reduce scope. If you can't afford Extra Fancy Packaging then use something cheaper. If you can't afford Extra Fancy Project Production then reduce the fanciness.

If it drives up the retail price out of what your customers will pay, if it takes too long to assemble and put into an envelope to ship, if it's too complicated to handle efficiently -- reduce scope.

Listen to me very carefully. Get uncomfortably close to ensure you understand this.

This is not cheating.

This is business. This is how business works. You continuously measure "what is possible vs. what is sale-able vs. what is profitable." and then go with the center of this diagram.

If you don't want to reduce scope, if you want costs-be-damned-I-want-what-I-want: treat this as a hobby. That's fine. See above points.

I cannot begin to explain how many books I have built that were Massively God Damn Complicated Oh God Why WHY and the why was "so it exists in the world." That has been my hobby-stuff.

I cannot begin to explain how many books I have built that were "hm, I shall streamline this, I shall enjoy it, my audience will enjoy it." This is business-stuff.

Sometimes I'll take a business-stuff thing and make a single special edition with water color or gold leaf or a special box etc. as a gift or just to keep. That's a blend. Acceptable.

Do not work for exposure.

Do not work for a large company that says "we'll give you so many business contacts if you just give us one for free."

Do not give free stuff to a social media influencer for a shout out on their channel.

The validity of these strategies is irrelevant until you have enough cash on hand and experience and an audience big enough to build an advertising campaign. If you cannot afford an advertising campaign, then you're in the realm of "reduce scope."

Your logo set in Arial in a single color with default font settings is going to last until you can comfortably say "I want more" and then build more or hire someone to build more.

Your website in a free Shopify or Big Cartel (etc) theme) is going to last you until you can comfortably say "I want more" and then build more or hire someone to build more or buy a template.

Last point.

Your brand is "I make X, it is of Y quality, it is available at Z-location" is 99% of branding.

You get to do this. You are doing this on purpose. You are doing this for a reason.

For a very long time, your profit levels will be less than the interest a high yield interest savings account would offer you for your investment cash. That is to say you could be making more money with 0 effort than you are with A Significant Amount of Effort.

I am talking about money a lot because it is the connection that links all businesses together.

This is your shop. Own it. Keep in mind, "This is my shop. I run it how i want."

If you are running out of resources, reduce scope. If it's not fun, reduce it to a hobby. If you're scared, reduce consequences of things not working out quickly. If people laugh or deride your work, block them.

I love business. I love the weird, complicated problems it brings. It gives me a focus. I love coming to the office and bothering my best friend with my intense nonsense that somehow puts food on tables and roofs over heads.

My life would be so much more straight forward if I just made art and either put it into the world or held onto it in private. I would be making so much more art in if I went down this path.

But running a shop, running a business, makes me more me. The shop and the art are not two halves of a singular piece, they wound together on a molecular level.

As long as that exists in my core, I'll be making a business. If it ever does not, I'll make it a hobby.

Don't measure penalties or lost opportunities.

Measure wins, big and small, of things that went well because you're smart and capable, or your lucky and smart, or your lucky and capable, or you royally fucked up but it worked out anyway, or you learned a lesson because of a past failure, etc.

This isn't a competition. It's a thing that makes you You more You than if you weren't doing it, so you are, to the best of your ability + the limit of your desire.

Hello! Right? The editor is a mess, settings aren't user friendly, it takes 3 clicks to do the simplest tasks like uploading a gif or image from the harddrive. There's apparently a character limit for the caption area, there's not enough room for colorized text html because the code eats up too much space.

Gifs and images, once you upload them, are difficult to move around. Trying to "pull" and "push" a gif into a desired slot (left, right, top, bottom) has been so frustrating and far more difficult than such a task should be. It's like gifs are weighted down by rocks and won't slip into the correct slot. You have to re-do the order over and over again because they never appear in the slot they're supposed to. And sometimes the draft saves itself but other times it forgets the new steps you've made to the post and everything is lost again. You have to refresh the drafts page to see if the post is actually saved!

Then once you set up your gifs in the correct order, feeling like you've accomplished a Herculean task, and you re-edit text in the caption as a last tweak or something, ALL the gifs are in disarray for some reason and need to be re-arranged manually every single time you edit the text. It makes no sense. The code for the caption and the gifs shouldn't affect each other.

It takes me ages to post a simple photo set or a gif set with a caption. The code for the caption is long and overstuffed, further taking away room for colorized text that needs a lot more characters of code.

My temporary solution (that I'm still practicing through trial and error) is to get all the gifs/photos ready first, switch to html view and write the caption and color text as the very last step. This way, in theory, I only have to re-arrange every gif one more time, instead of several times, which is hard because it's my habit to tweak and re-tweak the text caption to my liking. Otherwise if I re-edit the text 10 times, the gifs are also messed up and in the wrong order 10 times. It still takes me several takes to re-arrange and edit because something always needs to be tweaked. It's like the new tumblr editor only saves the gifs/photos uploaded to a post, but not their order. The worst part is, it forgets I placed smaller 268px gifs side by side in a row, not in a column/top to bottom like one would large 540px gifs. Baffling.

The more stuff I find that's not working with the editor, the more frustrating sharing content becomes. Gif makers and other creators are gonna stop posting to tumblr if, on top of spending hours or days or WEEKS on gif sets (elaborate gif sets take a lot of time, energy and creativity), they also have to battle a stubborn, awkward editor that requires another 100 steps before the post is saved correctly for publishing!

Tumblr should have kept the legacy editor as a 2nd option for people who like the old version, and everything would have been fine. :(

I'm trying really hard to practice not having opinions about stuff that's not worth my time and energy.

I don't have enough information on that public issue to form an opinion and it is not worth my time or energy to research it and form an opinion when there are already experts working on it and journalists reporting expert findings.

We need to make this team decision but I don't actually have an opinion about it and I can see that other people do so how about y'all just sort it out and tell me the decision and I'll abide by it. If none of you have opinions on it or if you do and can't agree, sure I'm willing to think about it and come up with something if it's helpful, but unless you need me to I don't mind just not having a say in this one. It could make the decision easier to reach and I can do other stuff with my time.

Why do I need to have an opinion on pineapple on pizza or what counts as a sandwich or whatever. Who cares. I have other things to spend my time and energy and decision making points on. I don't enjoy being fake mad about stupid fake questions as much as I used to. Like sometimes it's still fun to have silly arguments but sometimes it's not and I'm just not gonna do it when I'm not in the mood anymore. Fake arguments get me for-real agitated and that spills over into whatever else I'm doing. No thank you.

Me having an opinion on that subject benefits no one. It is so far removed from me and the people I interact with and the people they interact with. It is so far removed from the realm of things I have the proximity to and resources to control. I cannot impact the situation. Having an opinion on this will not benefit anyone and will waste my time and energy. I am going to go think about something else now.

This needs done and actually I do kinda have an opinion about the best way to do it but I don't have the time or energy to do it myself so I'm going to ask someone else to do it and they may or may not do it the way I would have done it but they will do it fine and it will be done and that's what's important. And maybe they'll do it better than I would have. I don't actually know everything, even if I did have opinions on everything.

Et cetera

Like I'm just so stressed. And I don't need to be. I don't need to think about half the things I think about right now. Maybe more. There's so much pressure to have a Take on everything. I don't want to. The projects and causes I do contribute to regarding things I do have opinions about are better off when I focus on them and not on other stuff I cannot do anything about. I'm trying to stop being a perfectionist about, like, the whole world. Not everything needs my input. I don't need everything to be perfect, I don't need everything to be my idea of perfect.

I don't mean I don't care about stuff. Or that I am going to pretend not to have an opinion on like, human rights. I just mean I'm trying to be really careful about where I allocate my limited time and energy and decision making points. I just think I'm going to be able to do the most good when I focus on the things I know well enough to be informed about and make a difference in. I just think I'm going to feel less anxious if I just choose not to stress about some stuff I can't or won't actually do anything about. Like come on. I'm tired. I'm doing a lot. I don't care. I gotta let myself just not give a shit sometimes. It's hard but I really think I have to try it.

Headcanons and lore for The Splendorman

By me. Because I'm reliving my childhood.

Splendorman is known as the older brother of the famous leyend, The Slenderman.

But unlike his eldritch more sinister counterpart, The Splendorman is a being of kindness who's intentions are nothing more than to spread joy and support to those who find themselves in difficult situations.

Splendor is known as this innocent, naive man who only expects the best in people. Someone who does nothing more than playing with kids and making balloon animals. He's emotional, he's childish, he's oblivious.

But there has to be more than that.

Splendorman is a couple of centuries older than Slenderman. He's the second oldest faceless person out of the four that we know of the oldest being Offenderman and the tallest one of all.

Despite this he looks very young (or at least as young as an immortal cryptid can be). Mostly because he spends a lot of time with children and his upbeat attitude makes him feel like that. He doesn't really feel old either, he's pretty comfortable with his own age especially when he sees his younger brother getting back pain from watching over too many edgy teens.

Kids are ruthless sometimes though.

He, unlike his pale white relatives, has a sort of brownish/natural skin color. This is because he spends most of his time surrounded by humans and human culture. He even is capable of blushing because he is way more open with humans and their positive energy and sense of wonder sticks with him.

Splendor is probably the most capable of the family in the physical way, his psychic powers aren't that good. He can carry around a tree like it's nothing, is very flexible and incredibly fast, but since he doesn't use his powers much they're not as intense as one might expect. Meaning:

He has the weakest "sickness". Since he doesn't use his psychic powers besides luring people towards him, Splendor is limited to use visual and sensory alucinations like seeing an old memory or a toy, feeling a sensation of warmth or smelling something that reminds you of your happiest moments.

He doesn't use it to attack but when needed he goes for overstimulation, causing seizures or epilepsy on some people, driving them mad with "pins and needles" on their whole body or making them ill with the gross and awful sick smell of too much sugar.

Splendorman is very much a pacifist (another reason why he doesn't use his sickness a lot) and he doesn't like to get involved in physical fights. However, my version still has his short temper and is something he is very self-conscious about.

When he is mad he goes absolutely feral on whoever provoques him, and if anyone tries to stop him they're guaranteed a visit to the hospital.

And since he's not used to use his powers he straight up gets his hands dirty. Faceless People's sicknesses don't work with each other and lets not forget that he's the strongest (physically) of the family so they won't even bother.

He has a deep connection with World War I and II.

It was during that period of time when he had the most "work" to do: taking care of both victims and soldiers, plus dealing with the depressing energy of the world and learning about the human ethics of war and the military back then.

Those wars really warped his vision of the world and he was in danger of becoming a menacing and dangerous figure just like the rest of the family due to all the stress and fear he sensed during that time.

It really left an impact on him, so much so that he still keeps lots of trends of the era on his clothes and domain because he hasn't been able to completely process it all yet.

His domain now..

All Faceless people when they reach a certain level of power find themselves a dimension all for their own made by themselves. They have complete control over it, they can warp it and change it to their taste and needs and time is paused unless they say otherwise.

Splendor's domain is a wide open field of grass and colorful flowers. When it's day it's always sunny and warm, when it's night the sky is full of vibrant and colorful dancing stars. And in the middle of it all there's a mansion even bigger than Slenderman's, where the children Splendorman takes in reside.

Besides de wild flowers of the field, the mansion has a huge garden filled with any plant one can think of. In the center of this is a wide cristal lake with a thin river that goes through the whole garden towards a nearby forest. This forest is a whimsical one, filled with random objects that pop here and there every time (like bath tubs, chairs, bicycles, etc.), colorful leaves falling every second and giant rocks that move when no one is looking.

Fungi and moss makes up a path where everyone can find their way back if they ever get lost

But the star of the show has to be Splendor's Carnaval.

It's just your regular carnaval nothing new. It has games, food, a ferris wheel, a carousel, bumping cars, etc. It shows up at night at the other side of the forest so the kids won't go spending all their time there.

The whole domain is a form of escapism for all the children, teens and adults Splendor lets in.

The place is filled with a sweetened aroma and a feeling or dreaminess. People would describe it as revisiting an old memory or living in a dream. There's so much calmness in there, one can actually forget everything that they've been through and sleep on the ground without a worry.

Just be aware when Splendor is upset. He is a very emotional person though he usually is in control of his domain despite it, but in his times of immense distress the children can find giant craters where bombs had explode, extremely dried out plants, and a feeling that they are no longer safe.

And now: the juice

Aka. the family drama

Faceless People feed off of energy. They don't drain all the energy from a person, they just get contagious by different feelings or emotions. Mainly bad emotions like envy, anger, fear or despair since those toxic feelings are the strongest and easiest to get. Therefore, the Faceless family is a very toxic family since they just consume toxic emotions.

They're known to be vain and manipulative. They think they are superior than humans, ghosts and demons are just minor annoyances and other cryptids are like animals.

Splendor is not like that. He was able to break out of the toxic energy and now feeds off of love, happiness and joy. All that positive energy that mainly kids carry (hence why he sometimes comes off as childish or naive), but he also goes behind older people or anyone who still has any sense of wonder.

And since these feelings are healthier he is technically the healthiest of the family. And that also contributes to his physical strength.

This makes him the "black sheep" of the family.

Because of this he is the main subject of criticism during family gatherings and he's not taken seriously most of the time because of his "goddie-two-shoes" attitude, however he is far from being oblivious to all of this. For this reason he is the king of passive-agression. He has developed a thick skin when dealing with them, sometimes being straight up cold with his comments out of spite, giving him the title of a "fake" when he's just reciprocating the gesture.

He has a little bit of a supperiority complex too because he is stronger and has a higher moral than his family but he won't admit it. He gets a little too cocky sometimes tho.

He has distanced himself from his family now (the only exception being Slenderman and yet they don't see each other often), but he hesitates on cutting them off entirely. He desperately wants to get rid of having to see them every single reunion, but he's more terrified of being alone.

Splendor would absolutely bully Slenderman every single time they meet tho. He can't break the big brother code.

Being an immortal cryptid being becomes lonely when there's no one else like you. All there is left of his people are his family and he can't leave all his emotional support on children.

However.

Nothing can ever be compared to his feelings towards his uncle Offenderman.

He doesn't like the use of the word "hate" very much and he tries to not show or feel it a lot, because he believes it's a very strong, toxic and negative feeling.

However, he breaks this rule with Offenderman.

He despises his uncle and the sentiment is reciprocated, yet nobody has ever seen or heard of a discussion or a fight between them. Like- something definitely happened, but they won't speak.

It's better to leave it there anyway. Those two can destroy a town in a matter of seconds if they feel like it.

The Splendorman is a very underestimated person. Him being a happy-go-lucky creature doesn't mean he isn't capable of doing harm. Or wishes to.

He is as deep as he is mythical. Someone more than a cryptid- a fairy tail.

Humans talk about a tall kind man, who takes them to his paradise and grants them one last happy wish before returning to their sour lives, someone who makes teens laugh like when they were children, and houses kids when no one is looking. The Faceless people just talk about a disappointment, a deviant who pretends to be a good person to distract himself from his "true nature", a clown even.

Splendor just lets them talk.

Wellllllllllll, I know that they probably came up with the idea before me, if not around the same time (I started Doggy Daycare March 2022, ooo anniversary soon!), given how long it takes to make a game that looks so nice. I'm also well aware I'm not the only one who thought to turn the DCA into a cat and/or a dog. There's a lot of cute designs out there! So lemme start by start by saying I adore the story and designs Poppy Playtime has. Why else would I have put Huggy and Kissy in my AU? And while I was watchin' a playthrough of Chapter 3 I was amused by the parallels. Though I must be honest: I am going through a bit of an existential crisis at the moment. This isn't the first time, or the second, I was spending a lot of time writing and drawing a story with elements similar to something big and popular with a lot of polish coming out shortly after. My psychic powers suck. Sometimes I have a case of the "why bother?'s". While those other projects I've pretty much abandoned, I will not be doing the same for Doggy Daycare. I am still writing down ideas and making some sketches for Season 3. It is still gonna happen. Though DogDay and CatNap probably won't make direct appearances. I mean they still could, maybe, but I am trying to limit how many characters represent each franchise. I see A LOT of love for CatNap and DogDay, and can't help but feel a lil envious. But that's my problem, no one else's. And I love them too, don't get me wrong. I cannot emphasize enough that I want people to show all the love they have for the Poppy Playtime franchise, it's fun and cool and is sparking so much creative energy! I know that there's still love for my bois too, and I'm forever grateful for that. Thanks for the ask n_n

It's really frustrating when people, especially other disabled people, act like being unable to work and/or being on disability is a privilege. I want to give people the benefit of the doubt and say that most people just don't understand how disabled you actually have to be to be entirely unable to work, and how vulnerable and unsafe it can be, so I wanted to talk a little about my experience. I'm in the US so this post will be based on US experiences, feel free to weigh in with differences/similarities to other countries.

Qualifications for talking about this: I've been labeled "unable to seek gainful employment" by a functional capacity evaluation (FCE) and an "individual with most significant disabilities" by the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR). I don't have SSI yet but I have a hearing at the end of this month so hopefully it'll happen soon.

This post is going to be super long so I've put it under a cut to keep it from taking over the entire screen.

First of all, I want to talk about the level of disability you have to be at in order to be completely and totally unable to work. I spend about 10 hours each day lying down. During that time I can only do small movements, so something like lying down and crocheting or sorting or assembling objects would be out of the question. This alone is not enough to qualify me for disability as, according to my lawyer, I would be able to do work taking calls or writing. I also have severely limited cognitive energy and can only do complex tasks for about 2-4 hours every day. These two together are not enough to make me unable to work as I would still be able to take calls. The third thing that actually makes me unable to work is that I'm autistic and developed social anxiety as a result, meaning I wouldn't be able to do that taking calls job that my lawyer mentioned. He's still not 100% sure he'll be able to convince the judge that I can't work, that's how strict disability hearings are in the US.

Second of all, the process of getting disability and the challenges it presents. I have a lot of help day-to-day from my mom. She helps me fill out SSI forms, she takes calls from my lawyer, she drives me to meetings with him, she helps me get my powerchair in and out of the car. I would not have been able to do most of this process without her. Being reliant on other people to keep me alive makes me vulnerable to abuse, I can't leave home even when things are really bad because I have no where to go. Even when I'm on disability the pay is so pitiful that I likely won't be fully independent and will rely on financial support from my parents. And I'm one of the lucky ones. Not everyone has support at all. I'm almost 100% there are people who are too disabled to get disability because they don't have someone to help them complete the work involved. Some people don't have families who can provide financial support while they wait for approval for disability. People who can't work and don't have support are at very high risk for homelessness, hunger, and death. I've been trying to get SSI for 3 years and I would have been dead for at least 2.5 of those years without my parents. I am too sick to walk to a shelter or food bank, I would literally just die.

And none of this even mentions the increased risk of being targeted by eugenics and ableism because we don't meet up to the "respectable disabled person" standards, which I won't go into for the sake of not making this even longer.

I understand that work is hard, especially if you're disabled, but "I wish I was too disabled to work" is an ignorant sentiment. Being unable to work is a disadvantage. Being able to work is a privilege. Please stop acting like people who are unable to work have an easier time in life.
