I just thought of something.

So it's basically widely accepted that Smokescreen is from Praxus, right? Even in the Aligned continuity? Well, taking fact of the Aligned universe's timeline about Smokescreen, he's young. Like, at the very least around Bumblebee's age group or older. And according to the Exodus novel, Praxus was destroyed early in the war; way before Bumblebee was sparked. Maybe I'm preaching here, but this kinda implies that Smokescreen has never been to Praxus at all, despite having the "frame" or "build" for it.

That means he doesn't know jack shit about what makes Praxians recognizable and kinda infamous in the eyes of other Cybertronians (or what the fandom would categorize them with, at least). He doesn't know the culture, the traditions, the history. He's probably lived in Iacon for most, if not all, of his life. So he probably only knows how Iaconians operate and how to live with them, how to behave around them. He's most familiar with Iacon, with their history and culture and traditions.

In terms of biology, I'm sure he has at least an instructor from Praxus or someone knowledgeable about his frame teaching him the necessities. The bare bones, if you will. There's little time for some long history lesson when you can get killed in a blink of an eye, after all. So he's not completely clueless about his heritage.

The sensitive doorwings, in his opinion, is a major plus in his book, able to detect even the slightest change in the air. Which is perfect for potential battle scenarios and when he's on guard duty; he can sense when someone is nearby, and react accordingly.

Though he could do without the sensory overload he gets once in a while. Took some time for him to learn how to disable the sensors in his wings when he needs it.

Speaking about wings, y'all know the famous headcanon that comes along with it? Being able to "speak" with only doorwing twiches and flutters? Yeah, Smokescreen got no idea about that either. His processor can sort of translate what one action means because it's built into his coding and all that, but the more complex ones? The ones that are learned by experience and teachings and less about instinct? Don't be surprised if he accidently offends someone with the wrong response.

Also he speaks with an Iaconian dialect, with a hint of another unrecognizable accent mixed in. Because of course he does. And his handwriting and way of writing words is noticeably Iaconian in origin; and also kinda fancy looking, thanks to Alpha Trion.

But yeah, this is my new headcanon now, Iacon Raised! Smokescreen is my new ambrosia.

unclear. last night i stayed up and finished a report worth 25% of my grade at about 5am, arrived on time for my 9am lecture, and spent about half of it zoned out while thinking about seventeen year old emilie agreste. and i was one of the most active participants in the class discussion

you know what, I actually will talk about this because it's bothering me. The issue with focussing so heavily on syd and carmy's potential for a romantic relationship isn't that there's something inherently unintellectual about romance or whatever, it's that a lot of people seem incapable of doing that without immediately flattening the story and ignoring or intentionally misreading any and all nuance for the sake of that romance. Every scene suddenly becomes about how it impacts their relationship, every analysis is done through a romantic lens, every frame or line of dialogue becomes about finding some easter egg or hint that "proves" these people should start dating. Their dynamic is absolutely a fundamental part of this show, but if you can only see it as a will-they-won't-they, you miss so much of what the story is actually trying to say with these two.

There are good versions of this story where their relationship is romantic and there are good versions of this story where it isn't, but as soon as you decide them being together is "the point," you lose the ability to actually judge the story for what it is, not what you want it to be.

#like so much of their dynamic (esp but not exclusively in S3) has been about showing the ways that carmy's trauma and dysfunctional #attitude in the kitchen impacts other people and how even though he cares about syd and wants their partnership to work he keeps self #sabotaging and setting himself and by extension her and the restaurant up to fail and replicating the same toxic environments that #he grew up and trained in and this is very much consistent with his character and a natural continuation of the conflicts they've been #having since S1 but because him being shitty with her runs contrary to them getting together suddenly its 'ruining the story' and #out of character and only happening bc the writers just hate to see this ship winning and like. if you really think that i genuinely don't #know what show you've been watching bc it sure as shit wasn't this one. like it hurts to see him do this because you know #they could do something genuinely great together and that he's ruining a really good thing but this is also the reality of where he is rn #if he was just a good and supporting business partner and not deeply dysfunctional it would be wildly out of character #the problem w S3 wasn't that it 'ruined' their relationship it's that it had no clear focus overemphasized carmy's arc at the expense #of the other leads deprioritized the supporting cast while failing to give them their own arcs gave more screen time to #unecessary and uninteresting new 'comic relief' characters and let conflicts stagnate without resolving them or #letting them evolve over the course of the season.#this isn't exclusive to the bear this is a general trend ive noticed where as soon as the 'shipper' part of people's brains get activated #it's like they lose the ability to read the story any other way and it stops being about what's good for the narrative and starts being #about whether or not these two people kiss and anything that gets in the way of that is bad and anything that brings it closer is good #and it's usually whatever but it's really frustrating when the story ppl are doing that to is this good #it also makes people fundamentally incapable of treating any 'obstacle' to that romance in a way that isn't wildly meanspirited and #gross (esp bc those characters are usually women) which is exhausting. like no claire isn't evil or a 'pick me' or 'bad' for carmy #or a useless addition to the story or whatever other nonsense you guys have decided must be true to feel okay. she's a perfectly normal #character and their relationship is exploring some of the ways that carmy's inability to deal with or actually address his trauma #impacts the various relationships in his life. she doesn't even have to be a monster or a narrative mistake for him and syd to be #'destined' for each other or whatever. this isn't a middle school wattpad fic.#im definitely gonna get killed in the street for this but ive been looking for a good reason to spend less time on here so might as well #the bear #sydcarmy #sydney adamu #carmy berzatto

#ask #anon #hi anon. sorry that i used this opportunity to talk about the sims 2 console port #ive had this template made and didn't use it for much besides a few jokes to send to friends #but i think it's on par for Gelato to be this knowledgeable about one of his favourite games.#but yeah basically i grew up with the xbox version of Sims 2 and since the xbox was my brothers console. i didnt get to play it a whole lot #and years later i bought the sims 2 on PS2 and noticed a lot of slowdown on actions and stuff #and the golden bolt (i think thats their youtube name) did a video about the console ports of sims 1 & 2 games #and i was kinda confused hearing them talk about how the sims 2 only had one save file (on PS2) because the xbox version had like eight #and so that. paired with me looking through the cutting room floor page of the sims 2 #i was kinda curious to see if the xbox version really performed as bad as it does on the ps2 version #because the golden bolt was also talking about that in their coverage of the ports #and so like again. there's only two videos on youtube that I could find of the xbox version #and the ones uploaded by IGN run on the ps2 version. because of the fucking button prompts they show on screen #anyway. so like thankfully one of the only other xbox videos showcased making a sim. and it's. so much fucking faster than the ps2 version #like on the ps2 version. you'd select a hairstyle. wait 5-10 seconds. and then the hair changes and you get the ui element to customize it #press cancel and you wait 5-10 seconds to revert back to your previous hairstyle #on the xbox version though? it's so much fucking faster #i haven't checked gameplay of the gamecube version but ik that speedrunners use specifically just that version of the port?#im not sure why only because i havent done the research to check what's better about the gamecube version #granted. i have to get around to getting an original xbox controller at some point to prove it for myself that the xbox port runs the best #i know it probably wont be perfect due to the disk having a few scratches. but its gotta beat my ps2 copy #im also curious to see how many save files i used. because im almost certain i used like 6-7 of them #just because i kept creating new story modes with almost identical alien sims with mohawks #in my last playthrough. i think i broke that tradition and gave my sim a flatter haircut. i also forget if i made him an alien or not.#i havent played it in a year due to getting my computer and it taking up the space i used for my crt setup #anyway. hi anon. sorry about that. im happy you like Gelato :)#i genuinely love him so much ever since Helper sketched him up. like she absolutely nailed it. literally couldn't ask for anything better #and writing up stuff for him has honestly made me love him so much more #thank you for the ask anon!! :)

I'm not super involved in the Nicktoons Unite fandom, but I have been combing through fics and I'm already tried of Danny being portrayed as the big brother/second smartest one instead of what he actually is: a fucking idiot.

just had a very epic thought that for the most part we didn't see janeway in starfleet in a literal sense but rather, we saw her living out her idea of it. no wonder girl seemed to be struggling in prodigy
