Happy Lunar New Year, everyone! Though it's not quite a snake per se, the Great Jungle Wurm sends its regards from over in Caledon Forest! It feels like it's been forever since we've been to a sylvari area, so how about we go pay it a visit, and then hang out with the Soundless over on the Weeping Isle? That's right: the first Saturday of a new month fast approaches, which mean it's time for another art party hosted by my guild, [VS] Verdant Shield!

A concept carried over from Final Fantasy XIV, art parties are in-game get-togethers for artists of all kinds to hang out, chat, and create together! For GW2 parties there’s more of an emphasis on hanging out and gathering references during the party itself, and then in the days/weeks following to work on your creations at your own pace and then post to the shared art party tag. We’ve used the same one (#VSArtParty) since the very beginning so you can go allll the way back and explore what people have made! The most important thing to keep in mind though is this: the ‘goal’ of an art party isn’t to be drawn, but to draw others, and share with the community!

Time and /squadjoin information is below the cut, but will also be posted again on the day of the party as squads go up!

Location Information:

The Weeping Isle is a nice and accessible open area, with lots of room for water activities too if anyone wants to bust out a skiff or two! Just head Southwest from Mabon Waypoint and you're there - no funny business needed! It may be in your best interest to turn down your NPC dialogue volume if you stay on land though...

Time & Squad Details:

As is customary, we’ll be having two parties - the first one on EU servers and the second on NA - with an hour break in between for those who may want to attend both!

The EU server party will begin at 9pm Central European Time (aka 3pm Eastern Standard Time or 4 hours before in-game reset). I’ll be hosting this one on my EU alt account, so please either /whisper or /squadjoin Aemryn of Noon for a taxi invite if you don’t end up on the right map!

The NA server party will begin 1 hour after the EU party’s official end, at 7pm Eastern Standard Time (aka 1am Central European Time or at in-game reset). I’ll be on my main account for this one and may switch ‘host’ characters a few times, but please /whisper or /squadjoin Brasyck for a taxi invite if you don’t see my customary white cat tag hanging around on your map!

Our twice dead boy, Lio!

Either The Judge has a lot of pity for the littlest guy - dying in a wurm attack before the personal story even begins and then a certain god of war later down the line - or Judge knew there'd be a lot more dead showing up if Lio was sent to his final destination.

Maybe it's a mix of both.

Some people might mistake Lio for a necromancer simply due to how much death magic radiates off of him. Doesn't exactly help any self esteem issues, not to mention the underlying guilt of others having died due to his actions as commander... which he isn't even the original for that matter. The OG commander quit after Trahearne's death, and well the Pact needed someone to take over.

Granted the Pact didn't blindly pick anyone; Lio was the one who teamed up with the eventual Dragon's Watch squad to stop Scarlet. Lio definitely grew very fond of the folks in Dragon's Watch since - including Aurene.

(Let's just say that Late Marshal Stance was veeery focused on finding Trahearne in HoT and was completely uninvolved with Aurene's care).

Aurene's even joked a couple of times that she needs to die one more time to catch up with the Commander. Lio nervously laughs each time and urges her to absolutely do not.

Despite Gorrik being Gorrik, Lio has a special fondness for both him and his brother, partly due to being an asura engineer himself, but notably in Blish's case being able to bond over having mechanical limb - or body - replacements.

(Lio did not take Blish's death any better than Gorrik to say the least... but he's a bit better at hiding the fact.)

Despite being kind of... shoved into the role of Wayfinder, Lio is freakin' THRIVING among the Astral Ward. Without Aurene around, it's nice to have the chance to occupy himself with research and going back to discovering new things in a- well slightly less urgent pace, which the Ward and Isgarren provide.

Commander may have been the role that Lio took over, but Wayfinder was the role that was truly Lio's from the get go.

Three Ships: I only get three???? aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa (I think this tells you more than the actual ships I choose at this point). Uh. Prideshipping (yugioh), Katamar (One Piece), and oh my god I want to choose a yuumori ship for the last ship but I literally can't I've been weight the pros and cons of the ships for like. 15 minutes. First Ship: I know I shipped other things before this but my first ever OTP was prideshipping. Most everything else was like... canon ships I supported or like... stuff other people were writing that I was into. I mean, I guess you could also consider zendall from All My Children in that I helped my mom send zendall keychains to AMC in the mail after they broke them up??? but I do truly think that was more about my mom than me.

Last Song: My phone says "A Million Dreams" was what I stopped halfway through playing most recently. After texting Midorima that you appreciated his thoughtfulness, he texted he was on his way to your home. Ichijo had promptly stood up and decided he was going to prepare some rice with bacon for the three of you, exclaiming he hoped some food would cure his hangover. Once more you thanked Ichijo mentally for being the brother you've never had. It didn't take that long for the doorbell to ring and from looking at the clock, it was clear that Midorima had rushed to your home. The thought made you so emotional that you jumped into his arms as soon as you opened the door. Midorima was startled, but he quickly wrapped his arms around you as his green eyes softened. Growing up the way you did, you had learnt it was dangerous to allow yourself to be vulnerable in front of people who you didn't trust, so when his arms wrapped around you securely, it was one of the times where you felt like you could just let go of your tough girl facade. Because that was certainly what it was, a facade and nothing more. Midorima lifted you up and shut the door behind him. He maneuvered you around in his arms as if you were his little sister and quickly found his way to the living room where he parked the two of you on your couch. You clutched him tightly, fearing you could break and fall apart at any second. Midorima stroked your hair soothingly and you burried your face in his uniform. Ichijo walked out of the kitchen to see the two of you on the couch. "I'm preparing some rice and bacon. I've calculated a portion for you, no welcome." Midorima gave him a small smile, "Thank you, nandayo." His voice sounded so genuine and kind, allowing himself to also be open. Without any of his usual reservations. Right now, he was with the one he loved best and Ichijo had slowly wurmed his way into being a friend to him too. There was no reason for any reservations. Ichijo waved it off and you looked up at Midorima's handsome face. "Did anyone at school tease you?" Midorima sighed, knowing that question had been coming. Of course you had been fretting over it. "A few called me an idiot for being with a girl like you, one asked me if I enjoyed being 'cuckheld' or whatever that means. It doesn't sounds particulalry pleasant and I'm fairly certain it's vulgar from the looks on your faces nandayo." Ichijo hissed angrily, "I swear I never touched her. She's like my sister. Yuck." "I trust you." Midorima replied and Ichijo seemed to relax a bit. Midorima's confidence included many things, including his relationship. He was not the kind of boyfriend to get jealous if his girlfriend had male friends and it's one of the many things you loved about him. "What did they say to you, nandayo?" Midorima asked and you sighed. "Not that much to my face at least. My desk for one, has fallen victim. Insults were written all over it when I arrived at class this morning." You confessed and Midorima continued to stroke your hair. "Please don't let it get to you. You're more then what who they think you are," came your boyfriend's ever so sweet answer and you wondered just what miracle had transpired that made Midorima fall in love with you. You snuggled against him and let him pet you for a couple of minutes. Ichijo disappeared to the kitchen again, undoubtedly preparing the food, which came as a lucky coincidence because your stomach started growling for the meal. "It seems Ichijo has some impeccable timing." Midorima remarked and you giggled, feeling yourself finally at true ease. There was no sensation more peaceful then resting in his embrace, that was for sure. It didn't take long for Ichijo to appear, awkwardly juggling three bowls. You stood up and grabbed yours and Midorima took his. Ichijo smiled grateful as it had been a disaster about to transpire and the three of you took a seat on the couch. Ichijo was so polite not to say anything and to focus on his meal as Midorima started to feed you. He was blushing, but cheering you up was more important then his reluctance for PDA or anything related to it. You really had the best boyfriend ever.

Dirtcowl Wurm

This card is NOT on the reserved list. So what is going on here? Why is the price of the card spiking? Surely, this card will eventually see a reprint especially if there is audience demand. I bring this card up because I am genuinely confused as to why there is so much attention on this card. On mtgstocks, this card is actually being featured as a card that has experienced a major price change. I clicked on the card and I was surprised to see that this card had an all time high on June 1, 2024. I do not know the reason or understand it so if anyone can explain the sudden interest in this card please let me know. Since the card is not on the reserved list, it should not be a buyout although you can speculate and buyout any card. Perhaps dirtcowl wurm really never gets a reprint. That is theoretically possible. Did something get released which makes this an essential piece in a deck? Aren't there better cards with this exact effect or better combo pieces that can benefit more from your opponent hitting land drops. I thought maybe the wurm creature type might be a reason but there hasn't been a new wurm commander. If this is a buyout why not literally any reserved list card? Is this just a meme? I will mention that this technically has two different printings. The card also appears in a battle royale box set. Dirtcowl wurm gets big very fast but with no trample or evasion I just do not see the point of playing this over many other cards. Just being big rarely wins games anymore especially when you can be big and still have an amazing ability. I want to chronicle any strange market discrepancies and this was strange to me. Should I give up speculating on the reserved list and start focusing on some real unknowns?

the dustox thing

Okay I'm gonna stop being sassy for a minute and actually talk about this because i dont want people to actually get angry at me. Anyone who is capable of raising a wurmple into a beautifly is capable of raising and managing a dustox. I am not saying this out of malice or contempt, this is basically fact. Let me explain. First things first, wurmple evolve extremely quickly. You barely have to do any training before they build their cocoon, and it's usually only a week or two before they emerge. Despite what some people seem to think, bug pokemon like this don't just lose their survival instincts when you feed them for a little bit. In fact, that's EXACTLY what we do for endangered pokemon. You take in some newborns, protect and raise them, and then set them free. That's like... the entire thing that zoos do. Did you guys's elementary schools not do that thing where you raise some caterpie? Secondly, dustox care is shockingly easily, especially relative to Beautifly. Dustox eat a diet entirely consisting of tree leaves. Unless you live in an area filled entirely with trees that are toxic to bug pokemon, you're not gonna have a hard time raising one. Beautifly actually require a TON of care, because they eat pollen and nectar - which requires a substantial flower population to maintain - and they can get injured if you look at them the wrong way. (Seriously, look at some beauty contest fails online. It's kind of pathetic.) And finally, the poison dust thing. The petalburg woods are filled with hundreds if not thousands of dustox. The petalburg woods are also an extremely common place for children to explore and encounter wild pokemon. Do you know what would make those things completely incompatible? If dustox could poison kids to death just by flying by them. Dustox poison is there to deter predators. Unless youre eating a handful of the stuff (which yes, some teens do and it sends them to the hospital) you aren't going to be hurt by it. So no, a kid who catches a wurmple trying to get a beautifly isn't at risk of death just because the cocoon was purple rather than white. In conclusion, stop catching wurms because you want the flying thing with a bunch of colors. Know what you're doing when you catch a pokemon to raise, and if it matters that much to do just catch a silcoon or fully evolved beautifly.

* she/her femme sylvari. THEYRE SO BEAUTIFUL TO ME i cant NOT make one...

* prrrobably a necromancer (idk elite spec yet..). instead of feasting on JUST life force, her connection to the nightmare allows her to feed on the fear of those around her. thus i associate her with the soul reaping core specialization! :]

* themed like a wolfsbane plant! a poisonous, beautiful purple color. her accents may be orange and/or green for some nice contrast

* still young for a sylvari; she USED to be a dreamer before she got alien beamed away by nightmare courtiers who wanted to use her budding necromancy to their advantage. promising they'd show her much greater things it was capable of, she decided. huh! okay! :]

* funnily enough she actually isnt like. overtly sadistic or malicious. she WILL deal excruciating pain to others, but moreso because she was told to rather than her actually wanting to hurt anyone... or because she got bored and pain is the only "enriching activity" she knows /lh

sons of svanir

* he/him masc norn... im going in girl-boy-girl-boy order so this one gets to be a dude :]

* former follower of either raven or leopard, but was convinced to join svanir at a pretty young age because he struggled to fit in with other norn... svanir promised him a home: a convincing temptation

* pretty cut and corner svanir (excluding the whole misogyny thing). reveres jormag. he especially feels that jormag is the superior spirit, due to the fact it not only is a WHOLE ASS DRAGON, but it also is tangible. jormag has been seen and wounded and attacked before; the other spirits, while you CAN see them, he finds are incorporeal and therefore just spectres unworthy of the praise they get

* a ranger! i imagine he tames mostly ice wurms, but he also takes in beasts tainted by the ice dragon's corruption. he is surprisingly (to others at least) kind to his beasts, and they fight with a fierce loyalty at his side. idk elite spec yet ... bleehh

* very unnerving, even to other svanir sometimes. he's very quick and trick; like nature, he is a fickle creature and does what he seems to please. and get on his bad side, and you may suddenly find yourself hunted by gleaming eyes in the blinding shiverpeak blizzards.

* being a lady in flame legion isnt fun to nobody's surprise, so initally she was just Some Guy's Lame Daughter until it was revealed she has elementalist magic... Something her sire was keenly interested in. After much fighting on the matter, she was allowed to practice being a shaman, even being granted an honorary title. (Though nobody. calls her it really)

* AS MENTIONED shes an elementalist! her main and favored attunement is fire (duh /j), but she is impressively powerful and manipulates all elements with relative ease, especially earth alongside fire. water and air are sort of novelties or in a pitch healing elements for her.

* a pretty quiet lady. .... TOO quiet, sometimes. she always appears deep in thought, contemplating something that nobody never really knows. she doesnt speak unless spoken to, and generally is very cagey and guarded.

* a very powerful high clearance guy. probably recognized under the "overseer" or "officer" title?? i'll have to spin my Wheel Of Inquest Ranks and Titles to figure it out /lh EITHER WAY his dad gave him a high rank to get him used to being at the top and abusing power ^.^ if you saw that last part no you didnt.

* his class is. tricky to find out but mainly im thinking he's a mesmer! elite spec probably virtuoso. he can do anything with his mind (STABS YOU WITH PSYCHIC BLADES)

* very Customer Service Pleasant. he's actually a very mean and uptight person but hes surprisingly easy to please if he gets what he wants. very intelligent in terms of politics and like another oc of mine (hi srabba) he wishes to seize the area around the thaumanovas reactor in order to utilize the chaotic energies lurking around...

* Ok so. imagine this. ex-noble girl. she gets sick of the constant squabbling and formalities of noble duties, and falls in love with a bad boy/girl promising to whisk her away to a better world... 10 days later shes now a bandit and is about to blow up an orphanage. Girl help.

* squints my eye. thief. without a shadow of a doubt this girl is a trained thief. mainly im thinking shes very acrobatic in fighting so shes a daredevil too! :]

* a bit of an awkward girl. shes had to go from Princess Smiles and Waves to "if you mess with me again i'll stab you in the side" so her personality is a little. skewed. but she has a silly humorous personality! enjoys being the life of the party! :]

Currently watching: Nothing specific atm, I might open Netflix tonight and start something tho. On YouTube I watch a lot of lifestyle vlogs and sonny angel unboxings, as well as true crime video's hehe. As for anime, I've started tengoku daimakyou and I have so much to catch up on.

Currently reading: "She and her cat" It's a Japanese novel about a girl who lives with her cat and it's basically a look into their life. The story is told from the humans perspective and the cats perspective and its such a wholesome slice of life story. The main girl in the story does go through some things but her cat is always there by her side and they really have a special connection. I recently went through a very tough time mentally (breakup and exams and psych ward) and during this time I read that book. It kinda gave me a strength to go on with my life and keep trying cuz my life is very similar to the one in the book. It's always been me and my cat and it's those tiny moments in life that give u comfort. The title attracted me immediately and it did not disappoint. I recommend it to everyone who likes cats and feels like reading a Japanese slice of life novel. Also a fanfic I've been reading recently is the wolfwood fanfic by @pasteleclectic on ao3. It's very well written and I love the way she characterizes wolfwood. Very hyped to see where the story is going!!

Current obsession: Sonny angels 😂 I recently started collecting those little dolls and now I have about 70 of them, it's become an addiction. And I've also bought some very cute plates recently. I'm always obsessed with cute dishes and I can't stop myself from buying them for when I get my own apartment.

Content warning: Drug dependence.

Oral morphine has been a disaster. I'm doing whatever I can now to get off of it and go back to Tramadol. It's affecting me emotionally and psychologically. For today I've gone back on leftover Tramadol, of which I have nine left, but I have asked for an emergency telehealth appt to hopefully restore my Tramadol prescription.

The bright spot is, I have my Gabapentin for nerve pain again. It isn't QUITE as bad as yesterday and the day before. That...is a memory.

Pain Clinic is broken. I will seek to move my prescriptions to my general physician. It is terrifying to not even have the option to use cannibis in emergencies. At least a regular doctor will not punish me for trying to treat my pain. I mean really? Someone uses medical marijuana so you threaten to take away care for three months? That's just cruel!

I'm both scared of taking morphine and scared of NOT taking it. This has been a physiological dependence trap. I'm unstable right now - kinda weepy and a little bit shaky. Anyone could have told me this I understand. I knew it was a bad idea as soon as I left the appointment. The extended release Tramadol was supposed to give me the ability to take the morphine only when I really, really need it. Except I can't take extended release pills.

And that's another thing. The computer system knows why I can't take extended release pills. This just proves there is a blind spot in the system for people like me. I'm angry that this was overlooked. I'm angry that my provider wasn't trained to watch out for this.

Not just that, but I know the more I take morphine, the less I digest it, meaning I just end up in a trap of pain I can't treat.

I'm angry, weepy, nervous, and shellshocked from what I experienced yesterday. Yesterday still haunts me.

Um.

On a positive note? Polchageist is pretty cool I guess. Not really my cup of tea, ba-da-boom, but I love how many new takes on old Pokemon we get these days! I'm more a Dipplin guy tbh. Love the wurm in the apple line. That one's going to be on my team.

Are there any data centers down anywhere right now anywhere on the East Coast?

Are there any data centers down anywhere right now anywhere on the East Coast? In one of the online games I play (Wurm Online)someone was asking yesterday if anyone was having trouble getting the launcher to load. Later on when I got home I tried and couldn't get it to load either. Their forums and wiki site both won't even load for me and this other person. But everyone else in the Discors says it's fine or their end. I also haven't been able to connect to any official servers from Ark Ascended. Keeps timing out. Even on random dead servers. Nothing works. They messaged me and said they too were from the South East US and that when they used a VPN they were able to get Wurm Online and it's websites to load. So this is definitely a regional issue but I've been Googling all morning and can't seem to find another soul having these issues like we are. And I can't find any outages online anywhere. Anyone know if there's any outages or having issues or what the heck is going on? Sucks that it's the Holidays and can't even play any of the Xmas events in any online game due to this potential outages.
