i just remembered another small idea for de-aged billy thats been playing in my head

so like billy’s been very bitter around the league for the whole time they’ve seen him de-aged and end up taking him out of the watchtower for whatever reason (or he finds a way to leave himself if the league doesn’t let him because they think it’s unsafe for him or whatever) and villainous shenanigans ensue, theres a lot of damage and a very, very, scared child

of course our dear billy goes to help said child (maybe the league try to stop him since they don’t think he can comfort the child in his current bitter state but can’t really stop him?) and that’s the first time they really see captain marvel in him

like they’ve seen his physical similarities (eyes, hair, ect.) but now they see him put on a big cheesy grin for this kid, his posture becomes so much more open and friendly, and he just manages to look like he can handle anything despite the fact that by all means a boy so malnourished should not look that way

i also imagine that the way he talks suddenly holds so much wisdom and kindness (he was very mean to the league lol)

also it’d be so cool if the moment the child’s safe and out of sight he just switches up immediately and looks so weary and tired, the moment he notices the league so much as glance at him funny he switches again to super feral

De-aged Billy (but not really) is one of my favorite things ever, and it brings forth so many opportunities for this small child to open up and talk about his traumas and problems to the world. (Once more people has seen the newest movie I will be creating my own post about Billy's traumas and how they affect him despite being coined as the immature, childish superhero by every other superhero in his world.) But the beauty and tragedy about Billy having every opportunity and chance to open up and be vulnerable with others, is that he's too scared. Too convinced that what he wants to discuss isn't going to be important to others and that his problems are his problems alone to face and conquer, when he's just a kid. A kid who's grown up too fast for his own good.

I imagine if the league tries to keep little mortal Billy Batson in the watch tower, he'd definitely try and fly the coop. The zeta beams, trying to hitch a ride with another hero back home, or just straight up using a spell he saved to float in a hamster bubble back to Earth in space. (Superman stopped him from that last one).

Ultimately deciding on letting this small and feral child version of Captain Marvel outside in his own city for some fresh air is the smart decision. There may be some of his villains looking for him for any opportunity to strike at him, but I trust that the Justice League wouldn't leave him alone without a partner/chaperone, as they joked. It was supposed to be just Billy and Green Arrow accompanying him while things got sorted out.

Unfortunately Plastic Man hitched a ride on the zeta beam at the last second and completely threw plans WAY off.

They end up getting spotted by a villain, Dr. Sivana possibly, and things get messy, as you said. Green Arrow shoots down his mechanical dummies while Plastic Man deals with dangling the bald man upside down a lamp post. But the catastrophic effect to the clean and nice street was evident. Buildings were crashed into and torn apart by Dr. Sivana, nearly killing off innocent civilians, had it not been for Billy Batson guiding them to safety routes and easing their escapes.

In the chaos of it all, I like to believe that Billy will still find calmness and ease in it, after living a life so full of it for so long. He'd still remain focused, especially when he hears the cries of a familiar voice. A classmate.

They don't know that he's secretly Captain Marvel, and he doesn't know their name. But what does that matter? They're both kids. They're both too young for any of this to be happening to them. Guiding them away from all the falling debris and rubble, Billy keeps his classmate calm enough to bring them away from the dangers of the battle close to them.

Green Arrow and Plastic Man manged to shoot/sneak a concerned and worried look over to their supposed de-aged teammate's way, only to be surprised when they see that Billy is smiling as confidently and with his big cheesey grin as before.

That's when they realize. Even if it wasn't real or a moment in bad vision, it felt like Billy's shoulders were much broader than they seemed. Like the weight of the world was on his shoulders more than they should have been, but that the boy would never complain and only ask for more weight to hold in return. Just like their regular Cap.

It's strange. They never noticed this side of Captain Marvel before. They were meeting so many new sides of him in just one day, despite knowing him for years at this point. Just how much of their friend had they not known?

"Hey, come on, hold my hand! I'll get you out of this, maybe you'll still have time to help give me the math homework answers for tomorrow!"

"B-but! I'm too scared to move!! Everything is falling, a-and I-"

"It's going to be alright. You have to make the first step if you want to keep moving forward. I'll be with you, I promise. Let's get out of here. Together."

At the end of the terrible, no good, very bad day for Billy Batson, and Dr. Sivana is dealt with and his classmate is sent home to their family safe and sound, Billy just collapses, intending to hit the grass and sleep off everything, had it not been for the swift and caring stretched arms of Plastic Man catching him in time.

Billy wants to argue and maybe even tries to scratch at Plastic Man to let him go, but Plastic Man is already swinging and rocking him in the air in his super stretched arms, singing loudly and annoyingly an out of pitch made up lullaby.

Green Arrow gets them zeta beamed back to the watch tower before Plastic Man can start on the next chorus, but at least they were able to give the de aged Captain Marvel some free time for once (even if that was ruined halfway through).

Billy looks so peaceful and soft when sleeping. Malnourished and scruffy, yes, but right now, he was safe, and that was all that mattered. They'd figure out how to age him back to normal soon, and Billy would find a way to get out of this troublesome situation....eventually. But for now? Billy can enjoy this well-earned sleep.

When I said I was a sucker for songs with stories and symbolism and themes behind them I wasn't kidding especially when they discuss more morbid and unnerving topics to be honest anything produced by biz is bound to be something I enjoy their whole "love it" track has been my absolute favorite of all time I love the way their are actual stories behind their songs like a whole narrative and characters you can dissect especially with the songs their releasing the lyrics exploring more dark and twisted relationships unhealthy on both sides (so far we have yet to see what they publish next and it may be something different that sticks out from the theme cause so far all the songs released in the "love it" track talk about a relationship where both parties involved are unhealthy and toxic and unhinged in some way shape or form) exploring a completely complicated web of love and toxicity all while being absolute bangers back to back overall I absolutely suggest biz as an artist if you enjoy songs talking about fucked up relationships and dynamics like their is so much nuance and analysis you can do on each song and the characters presented in each song that it keeps me coming back to them (this has honestly just divulged into me shamelessly trying to get other people to listen to this artist but let me tell you something they are super underrated in my opinion and more people need to talk about them)

The thing about Beowulf is... I never quite got the hype about it. (Yes, we're not Supposed to use words like "hype" about world literature Classics, especially from ancient times, or to make light of them in general. Shut up and contemplate the fact that social media posts expressing nothing more than personal opinions and feelings aren't generally meant to be the same thing as academic work to be shared between academians in an academic context.) Ofc, I understood its historical value, including in terms of linguistics and philology. But in terms of "would I pick this as reading material to obsess and fall into a research hole over"? Despite trying a few times, I never quite got past ALL the references to God every other line. ("Snorri was an Evil Zealot who set out to knowingly and purposefully Christianize Norse mythology For The Evulz" crowd, I will tattoo each and every single one of those all over your body so you can't look into a mirror without accidentally reading one ever again.) The apparently disjointed "Beowulf fights Grendel and then Grendel's mother in Denmark. Years later, after going back to Sweden and becoming king, he also fights a dragon but this time he dies" narrative didn't really appeal to me, either. Nor did the presence of (afaik) exactly one (1) named female character. (Wealhtheow, babe, in hindsight I'm so sorry.)

I'm not sure what changed, exactly. It's just that, some time ago, I finally got around to reading Grendel by John Gardner, and I loved it and thought "wow, this would have made me either bawl my eyes out or stare off into space for like five-to-ten minutes after finishing it, had I read it as a teen." And after that, I found myself thinking "well, now I should probably get to know know the original story," and finally picking up my copy of Tolkien's translation of Beowulf, and realzing there actually was a lot going on in the story, and getting way too engaged in the looming "Hrothulf kills Hrothgar's kids" subplot that doesn't even really resurface in any later material about Hrolf Kraki (though those aren't exactly free from fucked-up family dynamics, either...), and going "!!! Volsungar mention!!!!" at the bit about Sigemund and Fitela despite already knowing about the Sigemund and Fitela bit and the whole "who actually killed the dragon first/in which tradition" question, and losing my mind at the bit about Hama and the "necklace of the Brosings" and "Eormanaric's hate" because, yeah, I already knew about that one, too, kind of, but recently I've gone into a little bit of a Brisingamen deep-dive, and a while ago I read a really interesting commentary and translation of the Hildebrandslied that had quite a lot to say not just about the specific hatred/enmity of a powerful king for an adventurous hero but also about the shift from Odoacher to Ermanric as Dietrich' von Bern's enemy, which ofc (?) got me thinking about Eormanaric/Ermanric/Jormunrek's apparent widespread reputation for being an asshole, something there probably has to be some accessible paper in English about somewhere out there...

Ahem. Anyway, I also found myself alternating reading Tolkien's translation with watching Grendel Grendel Grendel, the weird and very simplified and toned down but still somehow very enjoyable and sad kids' movie adaptation of Gardner's Grendel. And Beowulf & Grendel, the one without any magic where Grendel's a traumatized Neanderthal on a quest of vengeance that's somehow also quite a good watch despite the wonky editing, the cast and crew being possibly cursed by the Norse gods, and ofc, the time-displaced Neanderthals. And Animated Epics: Beowulf, which I might have actually watched once as a child, thinking about it. And Simon Roper and Jackson Crawford's read-along, featuring interesting linguistic, literary, and historical notes as well as Australian!Hrothgar, Beowulf making it exceedingly clear that "some of my best friends are Danes!", and some unforgettable exchanges such as "I used to tell my students the story about that time I almost drove off a cliff when they were worried about their exams to make them undestand that I, too, had experienced the fear of death :|" "I'm glad you didn't perish :)" "Thanks. :|" (I'm on the Fits 8-11 video, btw. Even if, when it comes to Tolkien's translation, I'm already at the part where Beowulf says goodbye to Hrothgar and sails back to the land of the Geats. Look, I remebered thos videos existed somewhat belatedly.)

I think eventually I might also end up rewatching The 13th Warrior (which I'm gonna go out on a limb and say might be the true origin of the ahistorical Neanderthals in Beowulf & Gredenl, but I remember liking that one, too). And Outlander (my beloved "aliens crash-land in Viking Age Scandinavia and fight each other while being Sad & Tragic in their own ways" one, not the Scottish one) but specifically as a Beowulf reimagining this time around (rather than as "the movie that could have totally had the Brooding Hero, Fiery But Sweet Warrior Woman, and Hotheaded Rival-Turned-Friend invent modern polyamory, because that wouldn't have been weirder than having a character called Boromir" like every other time). Maybe that weird post-apocalyptic Beowulf that was the first to do the "Grendel's mom's got it goin' on" thing, too, at least if I can find that snarky review of it on Youtube again. Probably not the Uncanny CGI Desperately Trying To Be Live-Action 20O5 Beowulf where the titular hero keeps screaming "BEOWULF!!" and "I'M BEOWULF!!!" just in case the audience's intelligence levels can't be considered to be above the average rock's, and that also decided to add a foot fetish/body paint kink note to its cover of Grendel's Mom, though, unless I can find any snarky review of it. (I remember reading somewhere that the director actually hated Beowulf, as in the poem itself, and accepting the bit of info without question. The high heels-shaped feet are just one of the reasons why I wonder if anyone ever asked him if perhaps he hated women, too. At least his work supposedly contributed to the writers of Outlander being told "there's already too many Beowulf movies coming out!" and going "whatever, we're gong to do our own thing! With blackjack and hookers aliens and shieldmaidens", so I should probably thank him for that.)

Unfortunately, while I'm pretty sure I'll be able to avoid writing down a list of Adaptations I Absolutely Need To Check Out One Day Or I'll Die (i.e. Every Single I've Ever Heard About) like I did for The Nibelungs In Their Every Possible Form, all of this had the unforeseen side effect of reminding me that, even when I didn't have much if any interest in Beowulf, I used to have a bit of soft spot for Unferth. I mean, how could I not, when I imprinted on Hagen von Tronje when I was eleven-years-old? Give me a guy who knows all of The Hero's heroic deeds and still doesn't find him all that impressive from their very first meeting, and I'll just "👀" at him. Though from what I knew, this guy in particular seemed to go against his character type by becoming more friendly with the hero and lending him his ancestral sword, which seemed pretty interesting. Especially because he was apparently a fratricide, too? And you wouldn't expect a guy who killed his own brothers and got a "... and that's why you'll go to Hell!" by The Hero over it to have any kind of redemption arc/sudden reveal of hidden depths in any positive sense. And there was also that paper (which, ofc, I didn't bookmark at the time, and now I want to kick myself for that until I remember the title or at least the author...) arguing that maybe him telling off Beowulf about the swimming race was less about him as a person and more about him having a specifc role among the thanes in Heorot that included testing strangers requesting to speak with Hrothgar to figure out if they really were who they claimed to be or if they could actually live up to their reputation...

Again, I blame John Gardner, at least in part. He has a really crunchy Unferth, who definitely reawakened my interest in the character. The on in Grendel Grendel Grendel wasn't half-bad, either, though very different in some respects. But the original, too, ended up being actually so much more fun (meaning, so much more to chew on/rotate in my mind) than I could have imagined from my vague memories.

First you've got the iconic "didn't you look like a total loser against Breca, and isn't that literally all there is to know about you?" "shut up, you're drunk, a kinslayer, someone I have never heard anyone tell heroic tales about, and also, maybe if you were braver Grendel wouldn't keep eating you guys" banter, and I'm starting to realize that might be already more juicy, in terms of both Beowulf's and Unferth's characterizations and their interactions together, than I ever thought it was. Then you've got a line that sounds an awful lot like "everyone could see Grendel's severed arm hanging from the ceiling and that shut Unferth up" and seems to imply some sort of lingering bitterness on Unferth's side when Heorot is in the middle of the celebrations for Grendel's death. But then Unferth actually starts being described in much more favorable terms, almost as if the narrator were pointing out that, despite what the audience might think after his first appearance, there's a reason he's close to Hrothgar and has a good place in his hall... even if at the same time Unferth's praised for his "mighty heart" (something quite different from cowardice), wisdom, and the trust everyone in Heorot apparently has in his mind, there's actually another reference to him having had no mercy for his relatives "in the play of swords" in the past. (Fun little detail: that line comes right after one to the effect of "Hrothgar and Hrothulf were there and no betrayal had yet happened between them"...)

Until, finally, you get Beowulf preparing to go fight Grendel's mother and Unferth giving him his family's swords, Hrunting. And all kinds of entertaining things happen in relation to Hrunting.

You've got Unferth not remembering his first words to Beowulf because he was just really, really, really drunk when he said them, which seems to go well with Beowulf himself calling out his speech as a drunken boast but not with the "that shut him up" line I mentioned before. (Which leads me to wonder: was he actually too drunk to know what he was saying? Or did Beowulf give him an easy out in case he regretted it, which Unferth eventually chose to take to try and smooth things over?) You've got Unferth being "mighty of valour" yet not daring to go after Grendel's mother himself and "forfeiting glory" while giving his weapon to a "worthier" warrior, but his sword getting some lengthy praise nonetheless, to the point of being basically deemed infallible, and Beowulf not only not making any more comments on Unferth's supposed lack of bravery but calling him a man of "wide renown", praising his sword some more, vowing to succeed in his heroic feat with Hrunting or die trying, and telling Hrothgar that no matter what happens, Unferth must get it back when it's all over. And after that... you've got Hrunting utterly failing to kill or even harm Grendel's mother.

Except, that's literally the first time it ever fails at anything? And Beowulf can only kill Grendel's mother when, with the help of God, he finds a magical sword forged by giants, which implies there was no problem with it (and, by extension, with Unferth?) as the whole situation simply needed a little something extra to be dealt with?

Then, you've got Beowulf actually bringing Hrunting back, even if it wasn't much use to him when it really mattered. And praising it again, making sure to publicly clarify, while addressing Hrothgar himself, that no, it really is an excellent sword. And, after some more "the monster is dead!" celebration, Unferth himself (unambiguously "bold", now) having the sword brought over again not just to lend it Beowulf, but to gift it to him.... a weapon that is both nothing to sneeze at and, as Beowulf himself has acknowledged while praising it, a family heirloom. (From a guy who probably already has enough complicated feelings about his family without running around giving that kind of stuff away, to boot!) One Beowulf accepts once more, and gladly, already figuring it will be "a good friend in war, a power in battle" and saying absolutely nothing bad about it (the narrator goes "oh he's so gallant!" at him after that bit, which is admittedly kind of hilarious in itself, but still, imho, not really much to go on if you want to think he's not being sincere) right before he announces his intentions to sail back home.

I'm gonna be honest: I had already read most fics tagged Beowulf/Unferth on AO3 before this Beowulf binge. And now, I've gone and reread them. I've actually read the ones I'd missed the first time around, too. Not that it took me much time at all, but still. WildandWhirling has two really lovely ones. This innuendo-heavy one is a delight to read, too.

I think I might end up writing at least one more. Maybe canon!verse, if I manage not to spiral into researching Old English attitudes to homosexuality, or maybe Modern!AU, if I manage to find a good way to transliterate "sailing off to another country to slay monsters" in this century in a convincing way. Even just to have more than six works in the tag itself. But we'll see...

I suppose, in the end, the whole point of this random, almost stream-of-consciousness post (besides freeing up my head from at least some of my recent Beowulf thoughts) might have turned out to be just that, no matter who they are, fangirls will, indeed, always make them gay. (... I say, as if this was a surprise and I didn't already ship a number Nibelungenlied-and-adjacent gay ships I got into way before any of this.) It wasn't its original purpose but *shrug* I'll take it.

So I finally finished Grimmy’s book.

And like, first of all I have to clarify that I LOVE Grimmy. I am here today as a One Direction stan only because I started listening to Radio 1 with a veritable obsession as I walked from class to class at my local college in the middle of Ohio in 2012. When I started listening to Radio 1, it was through the Scott Mills podcast during the Olympics, and then as Scott and Chris filled in on the breakfast show for the week between Moyles and Grimmy.

This was how I was introduced to Grimmy.

I didn’t even get into One Direction until two years later, when I heard the world premiere of Steal My Girl on Radio 1 and I realised they were 🔥

So the point is, I’m a Grimmy stan first. Scott, Chris and Grimmy were my first loves, and I already owned and loved Scott’s autobiography (clearly ghostwritten in large part, not that I blame him), so Grimmy’s book was a must to add to my collection.

(And yes, of course I got it signed. I’m getting Jordan and William’s signed too, ordered that one this week. I am a SLUT for BBC DJ books).

So there’s my credentials. I love Grimmy. I feel a deep hatred in my gut when I witness Grimmy slander. Fuck off, he is full of happiness and life.

ANYWAY. His book is incredible. Delightful. I’m very sad it’s over (I HAD been reading a chapter a week, but I got greedy today). It’s loosely chronological, but each chapter is based around a theme so it jumps around a bit. Plus, it feels very clear from the introduction and onward that he wrote it himself (complaining about how excruciating it was to try to just sit down and WRITE 70k? Nothing is more relatable).

So much of it is about his childhood, about growing up with almost grown siblings and loving but older parents. About realising he’s just a little odd, and then realising he’s very odd, and realising that he’s gay and then embracing that gayness. He talks about his deep anxiety and his passions and finding the love of his life. I read a ridiculous amount of memoirs in my free time but this one did feel exceptionally like I was listening to a bestie over drinks. I love him and I want to read it again. Parts of reading about his childhood feel like sitting in sunshine.

And now that I’ve bored most people into skipping back out of this readmore and onto the next post, here’s my controversial take:

Grimmy spends about thirty pages on his time working Radio 1. Like you’re 7/8th through the book before it happens. And that portion is all about him and his own feelings and also his bestie Annie Mac. And I just want to say, Jesus Christ of course he didn’t talk about Harry. I can’t even think of a place in the book where that would have made sense.

Celebrities Grimmy mentions, that I remember:

- Amy Winehouse, because she’s one of the first people he really gets to know in That London

- Lady GaGa, because his dad loves her

- Adele, because she made him cry while his dad was dying

That’s it. That’s the list. This wasn’t a tell-all about his party days with celebrities. This was a book about GRIMMY. The more celebs in the book, the less people are going to be reading it for him. This was a book about growing up and becoming himself, and a book about finding himself after the radio. He knows that everyone knows what his life on the radio was like. This book was about the rest of him. About how he became him.

Really, out of the very few paragraphs devoted to radio 1, this is the one that stuck out to me;

Big Boss Ben told me this was his strategy, that Radio 1 had a job to do: appeal to the kids, hey them hooked into the BBC from an early age. They wanted to shake it up, chop the age range, lost listeners who were not relevant. […] They said I was surely the only DJ in history who was employed to make audiences smaller.”

Like, Christ. Imagine the toll on your self esteem.

Also, one last thought back on the rant;

Grimmy spends this whole book writing about accepting himself, and being so deep in his anxiety because of his initial rejection of self. He speaks about being a small scared gay boy to being a large, proud gay man. This book is about his acceptance of that part of him, as much as it is about anything else. I can’t imagine that he would even want to include Harry or Louis anywhere in this book. Not when they’re closeted as they are, and he wouldn’t be able to really touch on their friendship without leaving large chunks out. I’m sure their shared queer lives is a lot of what their friendship is based on. Why put a flattened, pale imitation of that in his book?

So anyway. No, Harry did not silence him or whatever. This book was about Grimmy. It wasn’t about Grimmy-name dropping-celeb-besties.

…plus, one direction was in there. Obviously.

6 ~ do you have any kind of consistent writing schedule or just hoping for the best?

tbh it’s mostly hoping for the best. in general, i can usually squeeze some time out from like 8pm-11:30pm. sometimes if life is forgiving, i can get a generous 4pm-midnight window, but usually i’m so exhausted from all my morning shenanigans, i don’t do a whole lot of writing in these free-time chunks. i’m hoping by august i’ll have some free mornings and i can get back into my full groove again!

10 ~ at what point in the process do you come up with titles, and how easy or hard is that for you?

there are two options. either i come up with the title immediately as i’m writing it, (01746, a gift and a curse, happy belated, king of karaoke, negotiations). the other option is staring at the empty title box in the ao3 posting form for an hour trying to magically come up with a title. (broken fingers hold tightest, broken hearts bleed brightest, donut miss your chance!, rise & shine, temptation, torment and tangerines). seems like i have more trouble naming newer stories for some reason. 🤷

11 ~ what’s something neat you’ve learned while doing research for something you were writing? also, how much do you worry about doing research in general?

research is pretty important to me, because i like to blend the mystical magical world of one piece with some realism. (like what if drinking milk didn’t solve all our health problems) recently i learned cocoyashi was inspired by a part of indonesia, and the coldest that area gets is around sixty degrees fahrenheit, or about 15.5 degrees celsius! law and rosi are gonna roast their north blue asses off 🔥

17 ~ what is your favorite line you’ve ever written?

what a cruel question 😝 i’m giving you a few answers! in terms of dialogue, in my original series, i had someone proclaim, “Why do we have to die to be loved?” and i quite like that line. for exposition, i think it might be, “It wasn’t so gummy, it wasn’t so strained, the muscles in his neck were relaxed and the apples of his cheeks weren’t threatening to split through the skin.” from the donquixote bros event. OR. i also like, “His brother lurked in the bloody pulp along the gumline of those smiles.” i’m gonna cut myself off now, i could keep going for a while 🤪

y-yes. i write fanfic very self-indulgently. whatever ships/stories i can’t find, i write. so i do end up rereading them when i’m craving that trope. and that’s when i find all my typos.

☁️ CLOUD - a soft headcanon - Adriana gives nicknames to each and every one of her Pokémon! She tries to give ones that are thematically appropriate for each one - for example, her Froslass is nicknamed Lady due to her snooty and ladylike personality, while her Chandelure is called Soulfire for the nature of the flames he burns (as Sirius' own demonstrates on Eclipse..), and the Mega Absol she uses in one of her theme teams is nicknamed Alatus because that is a Latin word meaning "winged". She wants the nicknames to be fitting, and so it can sometimes take her a while to come up with one that both she and the Pokémon in question are happy with ^-^

The only exception to this would be the nickname she gives the Reborn-Shiny Giratina that appears before her in Distorted Space if the player is on Anna Route. Its name is Galea, and she calls it by this name instinctively and instantly, but she doesn't know the meaning behind it.

☄️ COMET - what do people assume about her? are they right? - I think that a fair amount of people in Reborn would assume that Adriana is "just" some random noble's daughter from a faraway region who seems wholly out of place in the mess of a region that is Reborn. They're technically not wrong, at least initially (she probably would not have come to Reborn in the first place if the advert she'd seen wasn't over twelve years out of date). But, she becomes a lot more than that across her journey. Plus, she had already completed a journey around Kalos and even successfully defeated its Elite Four, so it's not like she's completely new to things when she gets to Reborn City.

💚 GREEN HEART - what things make your self-insert feel comforted? hugs, kisses, food? - Adriana enjoys spending time with the people she cares about, as well as with her Pokémon. Being somewhere that she knows is safe, like Vanhanen Castle or Iolia Valley for example, also helps bring comfort. She is however quite physically affectionate when it comes to Luna, as the two of them were unable to see each other for so long after confessing their love to each other, so getting to finally be in each other's company is something that helps both of them.

..Let’s go under the readmore for the rest, since otherwise this post is going to be very long!

🔥 FIRE - does she have any self-destructive tendencies? what habits does she have that hinders her from becoming her best self? - Hmm.. I'm not sure there's anything entirely self-destructive, but she can sometimes find it difficult to properly stand up to adversaries, even if she does often get there in the end (the nature of so much being resolved through winning Pokémon battles does help her a lot here). She is also naturally noticeably avoidant of conflict, and struggles with finding the right words for important situations sometimes. So, those are all things that could be argued are holding her back.

🎀 RIBBON - how would she fit into other worlds / AUs? what AUs would you like to try out? what fictional worlds would she fit / not fit into? - I think Adri could fit into other worlds or AUs quite easily! Her whole "is from a previous timeline and got brought forward into the current one" aspect would perhaps be the main thing that doesn't carry over, but I think most of what she is can stay at least somewhat intact, as her affinity with Ghost-types can be quite easily worked into some kind of "works with/can see the dead" in non-Pokémon AUs. (After all, she did technically already die once in Reborn, which is why her timeline didn't succeed - there weren't enough people there for Anna's wish to save her.) However, she's not that much of a fighter, so trying to put her into something like Dragon Quest or Xenoblade Chronicles by thinking of her as a playable character is somewhat tricky.

🔫 PISTOL - does she trust people easily? how easily will she turn her back to someone? has she been backstabbed before? will she betray someone if given an ultimatum?- Adri's time in Reborn has certainly taught her to be somewhat less trusting of strangers than she was before going there, but she is still someone who tries to see the best in people, especially those that have previously demonstrated themselves to be better than they currently are. She will not easily turn her back on people, though she is definitely capable of it. In terms of backstabbing, I suppose things like Terra being Titawin, Blake not giving her the information he said he would even after stealing the Ruby Ring, and Amaria trying to drown her might all count? And regarding betrayal.. it would be very difficult, both for her to do and to get her to do in the first place. I don't think she would, really.

🍁 MAPLE LEAF - what is her favourite season? why? - Adriana's favourite season is actually summer! She naturally feels the cold very strongly, and so the summertime - as the warmest season - is when she tends to feel the most comfortable. She also has a Froslass as I mentioned before, which is Ice-type, so even if the summer did get too hot for most other people to worry about, she wouldn't have to worry too much or even feel a need to change her outfit much! You may think that her favourite season would not be the one where the nights are shortest, but she likes the way that the summer nights seem to linger in an eternal twilight of sorts, never quite becoming quite as dark or as cold or as recognisably nighttime as they do in the other seasons. There's something ethereal about the strange state the sky takes on, don't you think?

Wrote this last year: A post that I am writing ✍️ from pain to refreshing clarity and wholeness through Jesus: I might be 37 in natural years; but in reality, I’ve had to be an old soul all my life.

I know there are folks out there who have grown tired. Exhausted and irritated even of hearing me speaking about me going zero contact with the woman who birthed me, go ministries international, my high school experience, cross roads college, the list is endless.

I’ve faced more traumas, heartbreaks, heartaches 💔 than most people know.

I’ve come to the conclusion that I honestly don’t even care anymore. I’m done letting those painful moments define me. Define who I am.

I’m tired of being written off by those who don’t have the slightest clue of what it’s like to be in my shoes for even one day.

Most assume. That I don’t have a care in the world. That nothing ever bothers me. I have had to learn to turn my emotions on and off. some would say this is not healthy or a good thing. For me. It’s been survival.

I’m done crying about the fact that my birth mother f’ked up my life while growing up. I’m done grieving the fact that I can’t allow that woman to have any relationship with Mike and I’s, children.

Wait I'm bringing this back because I realized I might be going about this backwards. Also it's an ADHD Thinking Thinky Thoughts About Dragon Age: Qunari Edition type of day so Yippee Hooray!!!

One of The People took the form of a dragon. This is a big No No bc that form is considered a gods-only thing and we can't have the 'lessers' trying to achieve godhood all willy-nilly, now can we?

He was punished for it by Elgar'nan. Idk ab everyone else but when I read this I assumed he was incinerated sun-god style. (💥🔥) But I've been poking my head into fan speculation/tinfoil territory and it appears a lot of people think Elgar trapped him in a demi-dragon state instead.

But here's the thing. The jump from "some guy got turned into a dragon thing" to "there's an entire race of people that descended from this guy" is an odd jump. If it was the one guy, it wouldn't actually be a huge deal in the grand scheme of things.

Unless it wasn't just One Guy.

So there's two paths we can deduce:

Guy is made into demi-dragon. He's set loose, exiled perhaps, or maybe he runs away. So he sets out to try and undo it. He ends up meeting a nice Monster Fucker and has kids. OR...

Elgar'nan, being the asshole he is, decided to punish the entire Family Line. So now there's a higher stake: An entire Group of people cursed with this form! Forever!

One Guy is a drop in the bucket, genetics wise.

An entire population? That's an impact.

Now at the time of this event, there wouldn't be much urgency. Plenty of fear and despair, yes, but they could all work together to figure out how to undo this and they'd have all the time in the world!

But then the Veil happened.

And the elves started to die of old age.

And suddenly there was a time limit.

So now they have to find another way to undo this curse, and they have to do it knowing that the first generations would never get to be free, but maybe, just maybe, the future generations would.

First paragraph of the last entry from The Forgotten War:

The Scaled Ones had set up a camp at an intersection in the Deep Roads. In the center there was a golden altar fashioned in the shape of fire. A chill swept through me. On the tip of each flame hung the corpses of those we'd lost—including Father and Drohg. They'd been drained of blood, leaving only bone wrapped in grey skin. A robed Scaled One stood before the altar. Its voice was different from the others: softer, almost feminine. It chanted and raised a basin of blood towards the altar. The other Scaled Ones bowed low. The robed Scaled One produced fire from its palm and mouth and ignited the blood.

My guess is that somewhere down the line, they discovered Dwarf blood had magic-weakening properties (or stone-magic is resistant against sky (elf) magic). The reason they couldn't use elves? Well. *waves at Alistair and the whole "elf DNA gets dominated by every other DNA" shtick* It was useless. They'd just get more dragon babies.

So they went hunting for Dwarves, because that actually put a dent in the curse over time.

Do this for several generations, and eventually you'll have a group of dragon people who look almost-human. Qunari.

It would also add to their extreme distrust of Mages and Magic, because while everyone used to technically be able to use magic, it was a very powerful mage that cursed them in the first place. (The Ariqun and/or the Temassaran could also be hiding the historical practice of blood magic.)

I could also speculate that Magic could disrupt the work that's been done to break the curse; agitating the spell running through the DNA causing it to "flare up" again. Like radiation and grapefruit mold except the mold is the dragon curse. I hope that makes sense lmao.

Anyways that's my new tinfoil on this subject I hope there wasn't too much reaching lmao.

Shades of Dawn by @corvuscrowned [Lavender/Ginny, 2.6k, E] 💔 🔥 The day I stop rec'ing this fic is the day the world ends because I will NEVER stop sharing this beautiful, amazing, heart-wrenching fic. The conflict and the longing between Lavender and Ginny get me every time I read this. It is absolutely perfect.

8. Elemental by @solar-settings [Katie/Alicia, Katie/Leanne, Katie/Ginny, Katie/Cho, 1.7k, T] 💔 💫 Honestly, this is one of my favorite fics of all time. Katie is so beautifully written, and the way she experiences love at different points in her life is simply stunning.

Marcus's anxiety and Oliver's tenderness. Sides of these scared boys that we rarely get to see. So short, yet so memorable.

10. Mourning Myrtle by Contrarian_Hedgehog [Moaning Myrtle, 1.7k, T] 💔 💧 A haunting, dark comedy about Myrtle following her death. The prose is beautiful, and the story is even better. It was instantly one of my favorite gen fics as soon as I read it.

11. Brighten the Dark by @skeptiquewrites [Regulus/Harry, 3.3k, E] 💔 🔥 A young Regulus resurrected from the veil and post-war Harry stuck at Grimmauld Place together? Yes, please. The banter and back and forth between them is glorious. As is the dash of feels and underlying tension of why did Regulus come back but no one else?

12. Take Heed, Dear Heart by @danni-the-puff [Harry/Severus, 3.6k, M] 💔 👀 Genderswapped Snarry! It's dark, it's creepy, and yet, the absolute devotion they have for each other kept me glued to every word. The way every character is written and the story is woven through canon (but not quite canon) is masterful.

13. Height Difference by @thistlecatfics [Sirius/Remus, 437, G] 🌼 😂 This story is pure ridiculousness, and I am in love with it. Remus is tall, like very tall, like very very very tall. We all need a tall Remus in our life XD

14. Lit Match by @phantomato [Alecto/Lily, 1.9k, E] 💔 🔥 The first and only fic I've read with this pairing that instantly converted me. Lily's character is so rich and a little morally ambiguous. Canon compliant, and yes, I could see this as canon because it's so good.

15. turning point by @duplicitywrites [Tom/Voldemort, 8.7k, E] 🔥 👀 A self-cest PWP Tom Riddle fic that is... I don't even have words for how hot and intriguing this fic is. Because we all know that Tom Riddle could only love himself ;)

GUREN AND THE CURRENT ARC OF ONS 🔥🔥

OMGGGGGGG......... i never really cared for him tbh, or got the hype around him. he's a jerk and not even like, a good one 😩 and he treats the main cast as just tools for his goals, i hate that. especially with the latest chapters of how he wouldn't even give yuu 5 minutes to think about a choice, expecting him to make a snap decision and if he chose wrong expected yuu's friends to kill him on the spot- like sir, YOU caused all this to happen out of your own selfishness because you couldn't accept that your friends died, how dare you get mad at yuu for wanting to prioritize his most important person who was still there!!

i've said it before and i'll say it again, i do not care if yuu is being selfish, they all are! the rest all had time, like 8 years in fact, to go through the stages of grief. imo it is ridiculous to have them want to bring the dead back (also for mistu, weird that suddenly her parents are being brought up?? and not like, her dead bf). seriously, would their dead loved ones want to come back to find 1- that they missed several years and some people are now much older? 2- they are living in a post apocalyptic world where survival is incredibly difficult? 3- many of them died in extremely traumatic ways and would then have to live with that trauma. idk about you or anyone else, but no matter how much i missed someone who passed, i would never want to put them through any of that. and i sincerely hope some of shinoa squad sides with yuu, heck make it parallel to when mika fought the whole army to get to yuu and they protected the boys. sure mika may be undead, but he was never truly gone. he was still around for everything that went on, and has been reunited with yuu for quite some time now at this point. plus, they were both manipulated so much to make plot things happen a certain way, they deserve to get a happy ending, they deserve to catch a break here.

with the current arc, i am loving seeing all the puzzle pieces falling into place! esp with the ancient greece stuff! i feel like that sickos meme like yes.... hahaha YES. and i've seen people theorizing yuu may be coming to a corruption arc which 👀 this has been a long time coming. honestly yuu? get his ass, stand up to guren fr. i love seeing things coming back to bite him in the ass gjhdsgdsf also! very nice to see mika finally being prioritized by yuu, and not trying to lump him in with his other friends or talked down on 🥺 and since mika already confessed to yuu, i hope they dont back down from all this set up, go all the way and make them canon 👀

🔥 tallahassee is a normal and fun album about two spouses with a healthy and loving relationship that only bring out the best in each other. they survive also. i promise <3 counting the webbed site 4 this alongside the music btw 📺 the property of hate is a CRIMINALLY underrated webcomic about a rejected tumblr sexyman and his adopted human daughter as they run around what is probably one of my favorite fantasy settings ever

📌 how did you find your hyperfixation?

🔥 remember that week on tumblr where it was all no children memes? well. also i watched moral orel with vee (who sent this ask, everybody say thank you vee :)) and that planted a sleeper agent in my brain. it was then activated sometime in like... early? mid september? when i gave in and listened to the whole thing through during two back-to-back classes i have in the same room 📺 OK OK so one time i was chillin in vc, also with vee, and someone i followed on here reblogged a post of rgb getting the shit beaten out of him like 10 times in a row. i knew that i had definitely seen him somewhere before, but i couldnt place where, so we started getting to the bottom of it and ended up dming each other our reactions until 2 am. irl savepoint

✨ what draws you towards your hyperfixation? what is interesting about it?

🔥 i fucking LOVE music with lore. it just EXUDES vibes, helps me make art more. tallahassee is different from my other music hyperfixations + faves feat. lore in that it's not about, like, time traveling ghost wizards or some shit, so i do appreciate that about it. makes it very flexible for cooking new and delicious guys or spicing up previous ones, which i have done like 4 times in the past 2 months. shoutout to every funny bitch that reads fun sleepover with the besties. no thats not karkat from homestuck. also i enjoy interactive webbed sites and early 2000s stuff 📺 IT'S SO GOOD? IT'S JUST TOO GOOD. i hadn't felt whimsy in years but tpoh made me feel like i was on a field trip to my city's batshit bonkers science museum in 3rd grade again. all the character and environment designs are bursting with so much life and personality and joy that it is impossible not to love it oh so very deeply. it restored my faith in the medium of webcomics and made me feel excited to work on mine again.

🔥 hm well i have a paragraph or two in my wip director's cut of a school essay that is currently *checks notes* 4.5k long about how the album's language and structure take the alpha couple not as individual characters, but only as a couple, two halves of an inseparable and terrible whole. i like them in a "*starts the deathmatch and watches*" way. so instead i will talk about my fave from my wip webcomic that accidentally has the same plot as this. this is robin larappeler they r the lady on the right, please excuse the fucked up anatomy. i drew this at 2 am in august then forgot about them for a month. she is my first tumblr sexywoman, she cannot speak french, and i believe in her.

🔥 THIS WILL SOUND SO FUNNY BUT YES ACTUALLY. i was telling my friend bt about this album while we listened to the beginning in his car and when we got out he was like "so... are they detectives?" i dont even know how he came to that conclusion AT ALL but now i like to imagine that they're, like, rogue private eyes because it's hilarious. it's just not relevant to harry's journey so we dont ever see it. i also think that they've committed murder at least once and forgot about it, also because it would be hilarious and in-character. there is a whole page in my notes app that is an utterly incomprehensible stream of consciousness about this. i do think that representation headcanons abt this would be top tier, tho. Diversity win! The spouse in a mutually abusive relationship with you that burned down your house with both of you inside is a bisexual woman of color! 📺 rgb is canonically bi so i don't! in my brain hate is very pretty tho. so i think that counts. another win for the gays

A Lab of Rockets (supplement to prior DD on RKLB) 🚀 🥼

This is an unplanned supplement to my prior DD on the eve of Rocket Lab’s de-spac.

I had dozens of comments listing key points/catalysts that I had initially missed, because I was keen on being the first to post a legal DD about rocket lab (SPACs aren’t allowed so when I first posted it months ago, it was taken down). In addition, there has been interesting news regarding the space launch industry as a whole, specifically with respect to satellite constellation launches for providing greater accessibility to affordable high bandwidth internet, all over the world (yay), and real-time global surveillance via satellites with 50cm camera precision (kinda & oh no).

News 1. Amazon Project Kuiper 🔥 - Amazon had announced its own internet satellite constellation project to launch 3k satellites by 2026-2029. Initial 6 or 9 flights assigned to ULA. RKLB’s constellation supporting rocket, Neutron, is set to be ready to launch in 2024, ready in time to maybe capture some business from Amazon IN ADDITION to all of the ISPs that are going to be banging launch providers doors down, to not get left out of the next great revolution in global internet coverage. 2. RKLB’s space systems business 👀 - RKLB just announced it had signed a deal to supply reaction wheels “for a number of undisclosed satellite constellations.” AFAIK satellites need 3 reaction wheels to control their orientation on all 3 axes (keeping a 4th as backup). Their production facility at initial capacity will output 2000 a year. 2000 / 4 == 500 satellites a year they are expecting to provision. For reference they’ve only launched 100 satellites themselves so far. 3. Astra (ASTR) 😪 - had 2 failed launches last weekend in a row, still haven’t made it to orbit, still valued at about 1/2 that of rocket lab (what is wrong with this market). Launch reliability should have a premium, rocket lab has a proven track record of launch reliability. 4. Firefly (private) 😪 - watching their livestream of launch right now, and it’s not going too well (called an abort). But we’ll see how it goes…

Some Key Upcoming Events 1. September 8, Earnings 🍿 - likely will hear status updates regarding larger neutron rocket, as well as their space systems business (please tell us about the contracts regarding reaction wheels mentioned above). 2. Lunar Mission 2021 (probably Q4) 🌝 - do I even have to say anything? What other space startup is set to fly to the moon this year, for NASA? What doors will this open for them 🚪? 3. September-October, Back to back to back launches for global surveillance company Black Sky 👀 - this is very interesting as rocket lab has never turned around rockets this fast before. Demonstrating extremely rapid launch cadence will be proving to customer that they can schedule launch on demand essentially. In months, eventually weeks but not years. I expect to also see rocket lab demonstrate reusability of their electron rockets, by catching some with a helicopter (not joking) 🚁.

Summary: 1. Rocket lab is in a much better position than other space startups that are either still in theoretical phase (never launched), and those that are trying to launch but just can’t seem to get their rockets flying straight (Astra). 2. Entrance of tech giants and ISP heavy weights into satellite constellation business is evidence that we are on the brink of a satellite launching party (from all ISPs to avoid getting amazoned, and want to keep their consistently high cash flow business models: Verizon, AT&T, etc.). From all the launches, the planet might heat up a few degrees 😓. 3. Their neutron rocket is being developed at the right time to compete with SpaceX for launch contracts for such constellations (I also really doubt any one launch provider has the bandwidth to take all the contracts). 4. Their space systems business (reaction wheels for one), will be a nice revenue stream, even for the satellites that they don’t launch themselves, yet still develop and produce key parts of.
