MIRROR INFATUATION IDENTITY DISORDER

— What is it ?

MIID is characterized by the infatuation with one's image in the mirror , with the individual not being able to pry their eyes off and seemingly almost in a trance with their own reflection .

— Types :

Mirror Infatuation (Obsession) Identity Disorder : A specific set of MIID , where the reason behind an individuals infatuation isn't directly understood - other than that the individuals is over obsessed with their looks. Individuals with this disorder will often blankly stare at themselves , often fix their appearance in small ways , and even obsessively take pictures of themselves . Mirror Infatuation (Self Esteem) Identity Disorder : A specific set of MIID , where the reason behind an individuals infatuation is centered around a low self-esteem and body dysphoria. Individuals with this disorder are often noticed to be sulking about their reflection , as it actively upsets them - yet they cannot help but continue to stare.

— Symptom List :

Inability to pry eyes away from mirrors : Most often happens in social settings , people with MIID have the ability to be indulged in a conversation while also be infatuated by their reflection at the same time as a form of multitasking . Sense of distress from not having seen oneself : Individuals with MIID tend to have feelings of anxiety after not seeing their reflection in a period of time - often linked with the fear of how one looks or even not being able to imagine how they look anymore. Inability to pry eyes away from mirrors : Also called " Mirror Locking " , is the period of time when an individual dissociates at their reflection and physically cannot pry their eyes away . This can be distressing , and lead to meltdowns .

— Treatment ?

Individuals with this disorder have the ability to fully recover with the right environment ! - Help with self esteem : often the first go to for MIID (especially for MI(SE)ID) , treatment for body dysmorphia with bettering one's relationship with their reflection has had great results . - Limiting mirrors in social settings : Being reminded of an individuals conversation topic , being more observant of their surroundings can often help with ignoring the need to look at oneself in the mirror . Things like covering mirrors with cloth , or fully avoiding them for small periods of time is also recommended . - Overcoming the anxiety : MIID individuals often feel anxiety from not perceiving themselves for a long period of time , so having small hand held mirrors is often advised - they are small which makes it hard for the individual to fully observe themselves , and it being hand held will force them to put the mirror down after their hands get sore .

You know, it's really really fucking strange to me that people genuinely say out loud that a group majorly composed by minorities trying to be themselves will never be accepted into normal society. What is normal society? Your everyone-stays-the-same, divide-all-into-distinct-groups, never-let-mental-illness-be-normal society? Cause that's not normal to me. That's fascist.

I know I'm saying a big word there. I don't mean it in the "all antis are secretly alt-right" way. I mean "all antis are explicitly conservative in some way", though.

How can you propose us the idea that everything needs to stay the same, never progress, that minorities need to stay minorities and privileged people need to stay privileged, that certain people should stay in the shadows, and not be conservative?

By saying transid-identifying people should never transition, you're saying that. By saying paraphiles should never be accepted, you're saying that.

I hope you realize what you're doing now. This isn't protecting anyone. This is maintaining the status quo.

If you ever think the radqueer community is wrong by despising "survivors of the radqueer community", just think of Oli London.

He labeled himself as queer and was transrace. Now he hates queer people and trace people, says they're all the same mob of horribleness, and thrashes trans people because he's now christian and doesn't identify with those "beliefs".

Do you really think he was right? If yes, you're just a bigot, congratulations, but if not, where do you draw the line? At hating "actual queer people"? At hating "an actual minority"? Because I've never seen a non-queer radqueer. I've never seen a radqueer who's never been oppressed in any way. And with the amount of hate we've gotten, you can bet (and I know it's true) that a lot of antis are bigoted. I've seen antis be so straight up ableist while "fighting against ableism", I've seen them call radqueers the r slur and say horrible shit. And you can't say that's not a majority, I've never seen an anti who isn't conservative-coded and doesn't spew bigoted bullshit.

Because the nature of antis is segregation between binaries that don't exist as a binary. Disabled vs abled is not a binary, yet I've seen antis say that people can never become disabled, which is just stupid. As a white latino, POC vs white is not a binary I fall into, yet they really want to separate those and say people can never ever identify as something other than what they're born and perceived as.

They want to separate them because it's less confusing and less problematic. They want to maintain the status quo of never letting minorities become privileged as an identity (e.g. transwhiteness and nullabledness), and of never letting privileged people identify with minorities. Privilege or minority status will likely never leave us and we're not saying it will, but muddying the waters will never be something less than good. Because that only empowers.

In my humble opinion, saying disability and other minority status is desirable and inherently neutral or good, is not harmful. Because the other option is saying disability and other minority status is inherently undesirable regardless of how the disabled person or minority feels about it.

Anyway. I have said this multiple times, but having a distinct line between privilege status and minority status that no one can cross is not a good thing and will never be.

For a less pricey alternative , there are baby dolls for kids that look quite realistic .

Taking care of friends - being the parent friend has its perks , so caring for your friends can substitute for the need to care for a kid .

Volunteering at places that help children - libraries or school aids , after school activity teacher , ect .

If able - taking up babysitting , it's sought out and you can get money on the side .
