Steve x Bucky x Clint drabble...

"Why are you breakin' my heart?" Steve whimpers, tears in his ocean blue eyes.

Bucky shakes his head, running fingers through his hair impatiently. "Don't cry, doll. Please don't cry."

Steve swipes at his runny nose hastily, "No! Tell me what I did! Tell me what I did wrong!"

"Steve-"

"I did everything I could to get you back!" Steve wails, "I just got you back-"

"Darlin'-"

The blonde grabs a hold of Bucky's metal wrist and squeezes. "Just tell me what to do, Bucky. Tell me and I'll do it, please- please don't leave me, please-"

Bucky exhales heavily, his eyes stinging. "St- baby, you don't understand. I have to go-"

"Then take me with you," Steve interrupts, eyes wide and so full of hope, it breaks Bucky's own heart.

"Only one of us can go back, sweetheart," he explains gently, as if Steve didn't understand.

"You don't! You don't have to go, Bucky, please!"

Bucky makes a disapproving sound again. It's sickening to Steve's ears.

Steve hears himself crying- bawling, really- and it doesn't even sound like him. He's never heard himself so distraught and broken before. It's like the wailing cry of a dying animal. His throat burns from sobbing, his eyes are sore and blurry. Snot and tears run down his face.

Can Bucky not see just how sad he's making him?

Did Bucky even know that Steve's heart felt like it was beating out of his chest? Like it'd jump out at any second and leave him cold and dead in the wake of Bucky's absence?

"Stevie..."

"Jamie please, please please please please..."

"Please-!"

"Steve? Sweetheart, wake up, you're having a nightmare."

Steve's eyes pop open and he's suddenly back in Avengers Tower. His eyes are wet, tear tracks drying down his cheeks. His chest is heaving as if he'd just run a marathon. And his body feels paralyzed in abject fear.

A gentle hand strokes his face and caresses his jaw, petting him softly.

"It's okay," Bucky whispers, "only a dream, darlin."

Steve, still traumatized from his nightmare pushes Bucky away with a petulant growl. He curls up against the headboard, arms wrapped around his bent knees.

Clint, who's sleeping on the other side of Steve, startles awake from the sudden movement, eyes on high alert.

"Whas'at?"

Bucky stops for a few, totally confused at Steve pushing him away. He turns and flicks on the bedside lamp, setting the room in an incandescent glow. Clint winces and turns to put on his hearing aids.

"Steve?"

The blonde is still curled up in a tight ball, trembling from some imaginary cold. Bucky can hear the stifled hiccups and sniffles, a soft whining in the back of his throat. He crawls closer but doesn't touch Steve for fear he'd push away from him again.

"Baby boy, talk to me. What's gotten you so upset?"

Steve shakes his head stubbornly. Then he mutters, "You left me..."

Bucky frowns and shares a confused look with Clint who still looks delirious from being woken up so abruptly. "I'm- I'm right here sweetheart."

"Yeah baby," the archer grunts, voice rough from sleep, "Bucky ain't going nowhere."

Steve shakes his head harder and finally looks at them with a teary glare. His blue eyes are steely and electric as he points an accusatory finger at Bucky.

"Daddy left... said he didn't wanna stay... went back to-" a sob escapes from Steve's mouth and he buries his face in his palms again, whining like a kicked puppy.

"Went back to what baby?"

"Brooklyn... when I was smaller..." Steve mumbles through loud sniffles.

Clint cuts Bucky with a disappointed look as if Bucky could control what Steve dreamed about. Then he leans against the headboard with Steve and wraps the blonde in his arms. Bucky tries not to feel the sting of rejection when Steve willingly accepts Clint's touch.

"Oh come here, sweetpea," he murmurs, giving Steve's temple a smacking kiss that makes him squeak in slight amusement.

Bucky can't help but feel a little bitter at the dream version of himself in Steve's head. Why'd he have to go and ruin things, dammit?

"You know Bucky loves you, right?" Clint asks their boy.

Steve goes suspiciously quiet before nodding twice, face still buried in Clint's bare chest.

"And you know he'd never leave you, right?"

"But-" Steve starts, the feisty little fucker, but Clint gently admonishes his outburst.

"Ah ah, Daddy's talkin'."

Steve bites his lip, eyes big and cheeks flaming with embarrassment.

Clint continues, "It was a nightmare, darlin. Scary? Sure. But real? Nah, Bucky's right here with you and me. Look at em."

Steve slowly pulls himself off of Clint's chest to look at Bucky, who's still looking a bit wary but more concerned than anything. He offers Steve a soft, encouraging smile and stretches out his metal hand on the bed. Steve's immediately drawn to the movement, blinking at the metal appendages thoughtfully. Then his brows furrow and his lips quiver- a telltale sign that he's about to burst into tears again.

Bucky almost pulls away but in an instant, he's got a lap full of a sobbing super soldier whose arms and legs wrap tightly around his body like a clingy spider.

"Thought you wanted to leave me for- ...for when I was tiny," he sniffs sadly.

Bucky absolutely melts and squeezes Steve tighter. "Oh baby doll, you're the same punk I loved all those years ago. Wouldn't make sense going back to the past when I've got you right here."

Steve mumbles something in response but it's all garbled and doesn't make sense. Clint chuckles and fondly pets Steve's downy blonde hair.

"Never gonna happen, sweetness. You're stuck with your Daddies forever."

Steve mutters out a quick, "'kay," and nods his head a couple times as if trying to reassure himself. Then he pouts and says, "Love you," in a small voice, pecking Bucky's lips shyly.

"Aw, you're so sweet, baby doll," Bucky praises, which makes Steve blush like crazy. He ducks his head and grumbles into Bucky's chest, sniffing.

Clint grins, then rolls his eyes. "Alright baby boy, let's get you tucked in to bed."

Bucky arranges Steve off his lap and back in his former sleeping space between himself and Clint. The blonde, clad only in soft lacy underwear and fuzzy blue socks snuggles back into Clint's waiting arms, while Bucky presses their chests together. He wraps his arms around Bucky's middle, while Bucky gently guides Steve's head to rest on his ample bicep. Steve's nose brushes the man's stubble, inhaling his woodsy scent and sighing in absolute comfort of being sandwiched by his Daddies.

"Good night baby," Bucky whispers into his hair, while Clint slips a warm hand past the delicate waistband of Steve's lacy underwear. He carefully avoids Steve's little prick and just rubs his belly in slow, comforting motions.

Steve doesn't have any more nightmares that night.

My muse had been kidnapped and tortured for the past week send “I’m here- I’m here, now” for your muse to save them. “I’m here- I’m here, now” [bucky @ clint]

The torture was awful, don’t get him wrong. Physical, psychological, they tried it all. He’d been beaten and cut and burned, hadn’t been allowed to sleep. They’d kept him in a room with no windows, kept the lights constantly on and had randomized the schedule with which they entered and took him out, so he’d swiftly lost all track of time, despite his best efforts. But the thing Clint was most distraught about was the fact that they’d broken all of his fucking fingers.

Badly.

Recovering from an injury like this was going to take a lot of time and a lot of physical therapy, and even then he would most likely might never have the same dexterity as before. This sort of injury might just bench him permanently. These assholes might’ve rendered him completely useless to SHIELD, to the Avengers, and when he gets out of here, Clint will be destroyed by that. But as the man he’s dubbed Igor waltzes back into the room, he plasters a cheeky smile on. Forces a ridiculous amount of cheer into his voice. “Hey, there he is! S’been a while, man. How’s the wife? How’s the kids? Thought you might’a forgotten about little ol’ me, in here.”

It’s a blur of pain after that. Pain and anguish and agony and gunshots and more pain.

Wait.

Something…something’s not right about that. One of those things is not like the others, one of those things just doesn’t belong—Clint’s mind is just a little too hazy to figure out what.

Out of seemingly nowhere, the pain abruptly stops. A face looms in front of his own, and really, Igor should know better by now. After the first two times Clint headbutted someone and broke their nose, you’d think people would learn. Well, third time’s the charm, he supposes.

He tries to headbutt Igor, because seriously, fuck this guy, but the face is quicker, moves out of range before he’s able to make contact, leaving Clint slumped forward in the chair he’s restrained in, chest heaving. “Lookit that,” he slurs, spitting a mouthful of blood out to the side. When he grins back up at the man, it’s with bloody teeth. “You’re learnin’.”

He stops. Squints. Frowns. That’s not Igor. Then who…?

“Bucky?” When did Bucky get here? “What’re you…oh.” Oh, he remembers now. The phone call, the threats. Bucky came for him, just like he said. Bucky found him.

That’s nice.

“You know, the room service here sucks,” he complains, because if he doesn’t try and keep it light, he might just lose his shit and break down completely. “Bedside manner’s even worse.”

So, I'm learning to draw, slowly but somewhat surely. Here are vampire!Clint and Bucky random moment in time from the universe of my fic Aw, Blood, No. For WinterHawk Bingo Round 4, square E5: dancing.

Being turned into a vampire was never part of Clint “Mr. Actual Ray of Human Sunshine (sometimes)” Barton’s life plan. But they say life is what happens while you’re making other plans, and when an Avengers mission to take out a Hydra base goes disastrously wrong, Clint comes out of the fray undead.

Unfortunately for Clint, SHIELD has guidelines to deal with agents who have been turned into vampires: bring them in, or take them out. Fortunately, Bucky is both well-versed in vampires (Hydra—what are you going to do?) and evading SHIELD.

And sometimes “I’m your hostage. Get moving,” is the way Bucky says “I love you.”

Clint

He’s not running away. He’s not. He just needs some…

space.

Yeah. Space.

The city gets too close sometimes, so many people all shoved together, an overfilled bookshelf– no room to move, barely any room to breathe. Even the Tower, with its huge open floor plans and giant windows, just reminds him that he’s a rat in a cage. So sometimes he just has to grab Lucky and run– well, okay, fly– away for a while.

It has absolutely nothing to do with anything that may or may not have happened between him and a certain metal-armed supersoldier four days ago.

Nothing at all.

ii.

Clint

It feels good to work. Clint spends two days splitting wood, and it’s too exhausting to think of anything at all. He doesn’t even dream.

Then he repairs a barn door, a storm window, a porch step. He replaces two fence posts and cuts down a large, recently damaged tree. His muscles burn with the different kind of use and he falls into bed every night.

Lucky

Lucky runs and sprawls in sunlight. Sometimes his human throws ball or stick, sometimes they eat pizza, but mostly his human is busy doing human things. He does noisy things, or things with big sticks– sticks too heavy to throw– and that is boring, so Lucky chases rabbits. Or rolls in grass. He even chases a butterfly, but doesn’t really try to catch it. He just likes the way it moves.

After a whole day with big sticks Lucky brings his human a small stick. A chasing stick. He wags his tail and licks his human’s face.

I’m sorry boy. I’ve been ignoring you today, haven’t I.

Lucky’s human does magic ear scratches. Almost as good as pizza. When he stops Lucky licks his face again. Lucky likes the sounds his human makes when he gets licked.

Am I hiding out here, boy?

Lucky tilts his head. Does his human want something?

I didn’t mean to kiss him! It just… happened. He keeps making me coffee and he’s just so hot with his murder glare and his eyes peeking out from behind that fall of hair and he’s quiet but when he smiles I just–

Lucky tilts his head again. His human is looking at him, waiting, so Lucky gives a soft woof. His human buries his face in Lucky’s fur.

You’re right. Of course you’re right. I’ll call Tasha in the morning. She always knows what to do.

Tasha? Lucky knows that human. She brings good treats. Lucky wags his tail, gives another small woof.

Okay. Fine. I’ll call now. Come on boy, phone’s in the house.

Took you long enough.

Silence.

A long silence.

But Natasha can wait forever, and Clint knows it. He’ll break first.

I did something stupid.

She holds in the laugh. I know that, little bird.

Tash, I… I kissed Bucky.

Kissing Bucky wasn’t the stupid thing, glupiy. running away after was the stupid thing. he’s–

But she stops, because maybe this part isn’t hers to tell.

You already know?

She doesn’t answer stupid questions.

Look. You need to come home. Hiding on the farm isn’t going to solve anything.

She hears his sigh, hears Lucky scratch and jingle his tags.

Not yet. Soon, maybe.

He hangs up without saying goodbye; she’s left staring out the window but all she sees is Clint and Bucky and a quinjet and an Iowa sunset– and she wonders if these four things are compatible.

Bucky

Natalia didn’t explain, just gave Bucky that look and told him to be ready to leave in twenty. Pack a bag, she’d said. So now he’s on a quinjet heading into the setting sun, feeling more nervous with each passing mile.

Because Natalia only gets this agitated for Clint Barton.

Barton’s been off the grid for over a week. Since that day in the kitchen–

Bucky closes his eyes, remembering. After Barton swallowed his mandatory giant mugs of coffee– two, seemingly without a breath– they’d decided to make breakfast for the team. So they’d been at the stove together, bumping elbows and cracking jokes and eggs all at once. They’d been laughing when they’d come face to face…

He’s glad Natalia is concentrating on landing… wherever it is they are. He can school his features, can wear his “soldat” mask, but he can’t stop the blush rising up his neck to his cheeks when he remembers that kiss. He’d been surprised, sure, but only for a fraction of a breath. Then he’d kissed back– and with enthusiasm.

They’re on the ground; Natalia’s flipping switches, settling the quinjet to its rest. I know where you sleep, she says casually. Just keep that in mind.

He doesn’t react at all– no twitch, no flinch– but she smiles, says, Good. We understand each other. The smile is all knives and poison.

He does understand. But he doesn’t need this warning from Natalia. He doesn’t want to hurt Barton.

He just wants to find out what it feels like to hold onto him. To kiss him again.

Maybe even…

But that is for later.

Clint

The sun is setting when the quinjet lands in his yard. He’s been expecting it; Tasha likes to “fix” things for him. She’s the most annoying big (little) sister he could ever ask for.

She’s lucky he loves her so much.

Here to knock me out and carry me home?

She gives her most innocent smile. He shivers.

I just came for a visit, little bird. Don’t be so paranoid.

We both know that’s a lie. He hugs her anyway, even kisses the top of her head, because she’s his Natasha.

And then Bucky walks off the plane.

Lucky

Lucky hears Tasha’s voice after the big noise stops, so he runs to the yard to see what is happening.

His human stands very still, looking at another human. Lucky sniffs the air, sneezes. The other human smells sharp. Tangy. Like shiny things that hurt to chew.

Bucky?

You didn’t say anything. You just ran away.

I–

It’s okay. I just– I thought maybe we could… try it again?

Lucky’s human sits down on the grass Hard. Did he fall? He falls sometimes.

Lucky checks to see if his human is okay.

He smells okay, no sick or hurt smells. Maybe it is time for pets. He lays on his human’s lap and yes, he gets pets. And the magic ear scratches. Lucky wags his tail.

Lucky wiggles himself around to lick his human’s face– but the human is in his way. Not Tasha, the other one. He’s on the grass too, with his face squished right up against Lucky’s human’s face.

Lucky flops down, huffs out his breath. He’s going to have to wait until later for more ear scratches.

Alright give me marvel epic that sounds pornographic

It does have the sexy times! The Marvel Epic (tentative title is This Is War) is an installment to the Secret Avengers ‘verse (TOS ‘verse) and is a fix it for the current Donny Cates Venom run and Knull arc. It’s outlined to be 80-100K words, I have six chapters finished, and it’s primarily Winterhawk and Symbrock with a bit of background Fratt with an ensemble cast (lots of Flash Thompson and Miles Morales!). Have a snip (Winterhawk just for you, CB):

The kiss is spinning wildly out of control. Clint’s vaguely aware of a light flashing on the control panel but Bucky’s too addictive, the taste of him far too intoxicating to stop. It’s been four years since they’d first gotten together and Clint’s been a willing victim to the maelstrom that’s Bucky Barnes ever since. He’ll never want to stop; will never be able to stop.

Bucky’s the one to break away, pulling back and resting his forehead against Clint’s, his eyes nearly black as his breath puffs against Clint’s cheek.

“No,” Clint whines, attempting to chase Bucky’s lips. “Stopping bad. Why’re we stopping?” He needs Bucky like he needs oxygen; the man’s Clint’s beacon of light in the rapidly darkening depths of his own mind.

“About to land,” Bucky mouths, jerking his head toward the control panel. His hand leaves Clint’s hair and trails around to cup his cheek, the smooth vibranium thumb stroking gently. “Rain check?”

He was, absolutely. Getting a job right out of school had always been the goal, even before he’d gotten to Hogwarts. Having one that let him see dragons - baby dragons - was phenomenal. Still, Clint wasn’t entirely at ease. ‘Nervous.’

‘Why?’

Clint tilted his head, pointing his finger at his ear, knowing it was answer enough.

Series Update on AO3

I’ve marked a few of my series as ‘complete’ today, but I thought I’d offer a list on here as well in case you’ve been holding your breath for a continuation that definitely isn’t happening.

This is part two of a hella big post. Check out part one here. These are all a lot more recent, so I'm gonna try to be less spoilery, but there are gonna be some.

A not-so-brief history of Hawkeye in Comics Part Two (spoilers below the cut)

A note on events, dying and doubling down on Hawkeyes

Comics love doing big events, and I'm not covering them in here. Partly because they are huge and complex and to just focus on Hawkeye would be an injustice to the stories, but also because the amount of stuff I would need to spoil would be way beyond just a little Hawkeye. Clint was involved in Secret Wars (1984), which was one of the first crossover events of its kind. Another notable era is 2004-2009, where there is an incredible amount of superhero politics driving big narratives. If you're new to comics, you might not know that characters dying is common and rarely permanent. This is relevant because while I said that I wouldn't talk about events, I think it would be pretty uncool to not mention that Hawkeye dies and is brought back to life (Avengers Disassembled, House of M, New Avengers #26). It's around here that Clint picks up the Ronin mantle.

This is also when Dark Reign/Dark Avengers is going on. For anyone who'd like some Clint whump from this era, there's a top notch naked torture scene in New Avengers Annual (2009). Clint is involved in several other big events and crossovers over later years, but that's definitely a seperate list.

In the time where Clint is dead, Captain America is hanging out with a group of newly formed Young Avengers, including archery badass Kate Bishop. Cap suggests to her that she take up the Hawkeye mantle and gives her Clint's old bow. After Clint returns, he becomes initially her mentor, before they form a very close friendship. Clint is initially doing Ronin things, but even when he lays down ninja robes, they decide to be very Hawkeye about the whole thing and both keep calling themselves Hawkeye, despite the obvious confusion this causes.

Hawkeye's ears: Hawkeye vs. Deadpool #0-4 (2014)

This is a fun little miniseries that you could treat as a Halloween special if you so desired. It's set in the time after Fraction's run and there are a few callbacks, but nothing major if you've not read that. Clint is a little short-tempered and hypermasculine in this run for my personal taste, but it's got lots of grumpy Clint Vs sassy Wade while they vaguely attempt to team up. The thing this run does really well is Clint's deafness, despite the lack of visible hearing aids. There are comments around lip-reading, wearing aids when wearing other headgear, there's some sign language, and this is the run where Deadpool pulls his mask up so Clint can lipread and see his face while he signs (facial expressions are really key in sign language). It's lovely. Otherwise the run gives you a Kate cameo, some Deadpool and Hawkeye disaster/shenanigans, and perhaps most importantly, the return of the skycycle.

Key background: All New Hawkeye #1-6 (2015)

This run is often overlooked, but the art in the flashbacks is beautiful. We get some key information around Clint and Barney's abusive home situation - with their dad who drank and beat them, and how they ended up in care after their parents died, and subsequently their early days in the circus. There is a definite shift in how Barney is characterized as a bad influence compared to the 2003 run. It parallels with the rest of the arc which focuses on Clint and Kate Bishop working together to get some kids out of a very bad situation. The rest of Lemires run is a little weird and has no major repurcussions for anyone except Barney (which I won't elaborate on because it's relevant to the Fraction run).

Back to your roots: Tales of Suspense #100-104 (2017)

Seeing Clint cycle back and return to Tales of Suspense is really lovely. This comic is one of my all time favourites. It's incredibly tight story-telling with a great plot and really fun dynamic. The premise is Clint and Bucky teaming up to figure out the body trail being left after Black Widow's death. Clint is obnoxious and a delightful mess, Bucky is sporting a permanent scowl and is hilariously level-headed. It's a lot of fun and it's a lovely build on the tension and teamwork between these two idiots (who I, as an avid Winterhawk shipper, am completely gone for, but even without that, this is a great comic.) It also has some killer covers, and the facial expressions are absolutely hilarious.

Hawkeyes together: Hawkeye #13-16 (2017) and West Coast Avengers #1-10 (2018)

The Hawkeye run is Kate Bishops run and it has a larger continuing storyline that runs from the beginning of her Hawkeye and way into WCA, but I've listed the issues that you'll want for Kate and Clint shenanigans, and you should be able to catch up without the rest if you don't want it. These comics are ridiculously fun, especially West Coast Avengers, which has Kate leading the team this time. There's loads of jokes, and it strikes a nice balance between Hawkeyes being disasters and being hyper competent. Truthfully, this is Kate's show, and Clint takes a backseat, but their dynamic is killer here so I think is deserves a mention. There are also plenty of Clint related wardrobe malfunctions and Lucky the Pizza Dog is around.

Our most recent boy: Hawkeye freefall #1-6 (2020)

I haven't read this one yet, but it's been extremely well received by the fandom. As a result, good news: no spoilers! It's a short run, which may have had something to do with it being published during 2020, and specifically around a time when Marvel were experiencing some major distribution issues (which would have led to digital release only and as a result lower sales), but that's all guesswork because I haven't actually researched it. This run has someone dressing as Ronin and letting Clint take the blame for their nefarious deeds (oh no!). Clint makes some classic Clint (read: dumpster fire) decisions, and the art looks fun and vibrant. Can't really give you more without reading it myself 😅 If you need more Clint still, he's also rumoured to be knocking around in the 2020 Black Widow run, but I've not had the money to get my mitts on that yet either.

Notable AUs:

Marvel is a big fan of throwing a well known cast into an alternative universes, so there are a few other places to look for him.

The Ultimates universe was largely speaking a bit of a shitshow, but they did give us a very dark and gritty Clint, so if that's your jam, ultimate hawkeye is the place to be. Old Man Hawkeye appears alongside Old Man Logan, and they are both, you guessed it, old. It's not the only time we get Clint as a wrinkly dude (the second half Lemire's run also has some timey-wimey stuff happening), but this is a version of Clint who is going blind (granted we've seen that before too, but this is a darker vibe than Blindspot). Wanna know who the greatest marksman is without his sight - old man Hawkeye for you! Finally there's the Zombie 'verse: zombie Clint is a little confused, but he's got the spirit. Clint got zombiefied and then left in some rubble as only a head for 40 years before getting picked up, so he's a little worse for wear. If you need that in your life then Marvel Zombies is your universe. For a full rundown of all the universes including animated and MCU, click here.

Notable aliases:

Clint's been a few other people than Hawkeye in the 616 universe (the main Marvel Comics universe). He used one of Hank Pyms growth serums and became a giant strongman in Avengers #63 (1969) and stuck around in his Goliath form for more than a few issues. After Cap had died, Clint returned from the dead and tried on Captain America for all of one issue in Fallen Son #3 (2007). He decided (with a little help from Kate) that it wasn't right to wear the uniform, which in turn led to some interesting tension between him and Bucky Barnes when Buck did become the new Captain America. Finally, there's his most well-known alternate persona: Ronin. Clint becomes Ronin after returning from the dead, wanting a break from his Hawkeye persona and an opportunity to become Ronin arises in New Avengers #27 (2007). Clint is not the only person to have used these aliases. Additionally, Hawkeye has been used not only by Clint and Kate Bishop, but also by Bullseye during the Dark Reign.

The things we haven't talked about

Like I said at the very beginning, there is a lot of Clint Barton knocking around in comics and even with all this there's a lot of content I haven't focused on. For instance, I've not talked a lot about his relationships, beyond his marriage to mockingbird (and really I only scratched the surface with that), and honestly once you start getting into interpersonal relationships we're starting to move on from what can be done in a Tumblr thread.

Access Denied: Hacker!Verse ahhhh it’s one of my favorites!

Steve and Clint adopt an amnesiac assassin while Steve, Tony, and Natasha use their mad computer skills to try and overthrow the corrupt government agencies targeting them. 

Featuring inept S.H.I.E.L.D agents, Clint trying unsuccessfully to pretend he is one of them, sassy!skinny!Steve, adorably confused Bucky Barnes, and outraged!Sam Wilson.

Call It What You Want To: @claraxbarton​‘s future birthday fic and just because I know she’ll love it, here’s a snippet:

The guy was all bedroom eyes and artfully-mussed hair, and his expression was caught somewhere between hopeful nerves and annoyance, only one of which Clint was used to having directed at him. He’d come dressed to impress in chinos and a navy cowl-neck cardigan, whereas Clint very definitely had not.

More importantly, Clint had no idea who the guy was.

“Yeah?” he croaked, intelligently.

The other man blinked.

“I’m here about the apartment?” Bedroom Eyes was all confused hesitation.

Clint was also confused.

He did have an empty apartment in the building - Cindy had gotten married and moved out, and the unit had been empty for about three months - but Clint hadn’t listed it or even really told anyone it was available.  He’d barely had it cleaned before he’d gone on a mission and conveniently forgotten all about it.

“Camille said she talked to you,” Bedroom Eyes continued, “and told me to stop by today.  You are Clint, right?”

“Right,” Clint confirmed.  “I’m Clint.  Okay.  Uh, come in? I guess?”

Clint stepped back from the door and turned to go into the kitchen where his phone was lying conveniently next to his coffee pot.  He flicked the machine on and picked up the device, peering at the cracked screen.  He didn’t know anyone named Camille, but he did know a certain redhead who was fond of secret identities, and sure enough, there was a message from Natasha.

“I’m sending you a new tenant.  His name is James Barnes.  He’ll be there at 11. Try not to be a disaster.”

Corpsman AU: Honesty time, I only have some vague copy and paste notes for this from when I talked to Clara about it, and that’s what you’re getting, because I can’t actually remember the whole premise, but I get regular reminders that I’m supposed to write it. 

But basically, Bucky is a medically discharged Navy corpsman who worked with a Marine unit and whose ass was carted out of a combat situation by Natasha Badass Romanov and is now working as a medical phlebotomist (I think there was a prompt in the beginning about some kind of joke that was made during a blood draw?) which is where he meets Clint Barton, Marine corps reservist, and something-something they get married.
