I think Mihawk and Garp would have the best relationship

In that I think Garp goes out of his way to relentlessly troll Mihawk by being stubbornly, purposefully, inept about the most mundane things while Mihawk, who knows exactly what he is doing and that he is being set up but ugghhhhhh, hates him on a level yet undiscovered by science.

He only gives the most tiniest of reactions to Garp’s ineptness, a brow furrowing a frown becoming deeper the tiniest twitch of an eye but Garp sees it, he knows that he’s succeeded and Mihawk hates him for it

Mihawk and Garp sitting at opposite ends of the giant ass warlord meeting table locked in an intense mental chess match unbeknownst to everyone in the room. Garp keeps waging psychological warfare on Mihawk by eating the pieces, everyone but him is extremely thrown when Mihawk unsheathes Yoru and lunges at Garp, who laughs manically, without warning

Mihawk tries to get some sympathy from Shanks but Shanks’ has found Garp and his shenanigans hilarious since he was five so he obviously thinks this is the best thing ever. It might also help that Mihawk tends to look like a puffed up pretty bird after every encounter with Garp but Shanks is just a man for Christ sake! he’s weak!

Smarter people than me have probably made this analysis, but I've been getting into Jesus Christ Superstar recently (1973 movie and 2012 arena tour) and I'm obsessed with how Not The Main Character Jesus is. For the first half of the musical, we see him predominantly through everyone else's idea of and reactions to him— he is loved and hated and worshipped and asked for things by all of these people, but he himself is mostly silent, and when he says anything at all, it's less like the words of a revered teacher and more like the outbursts of an aging teen heartthrob whose fanbase has started to get a little too entitled to his personal space.

He doesn't become a person, within the narrative, until Gethsemane— until all that external validation and adoration is stripped away, leaving only an interior perspective that we haven't seen until now. The outbursts that seemed egocentric and shallow before suddenly seem symptomatic of knowing one's fate and being unable to do shit about it.

I'm not Christian anymore, but I see a lot of parallels— probably intentional ones— to how the church I grew up in utterly refused to assign Jesus any kind of human emotion or interiority, even while harping on and on about how He Sacrificed For Us™™™. He was always pictured as enduring great physical suffering, without any emotional suffering at all— no abandonment, no resentment of his purpose, just calm contentment and knowledge that all was going according to plan. Which I understand, in a way. Depicting Jesus as being angry at God would be a slippery slope to 15-16 year old me feeling like I was allowed to be angry at God, and we can't have that. 🙃

But like hypothetically if I decided to make a series of YouTube video breaking down and rambling about how I think the first year trio encompass the full gradient scale of what it means to be “morally good” and how by the end of the series they have grown exponentially but their moral inner workings are so entrenched in who they are they never needed to change they just became more of who they already were.

Because initially Yuuji wants to save the world in that abstract way all heroes do, Megumi is only interested in saving those he can save and Nobara is only interested in those she wants to save. And all these are treated as morally valid by the narrative and not really flaws in need of changing but instead philosophies in need of refining and understanding.

Because Jujutsu Society as a whole encourages and thrives off a moral apathy or superiority, they are in the business of killing curses not saving lives and that ultimately raises the question of if you’re going out there everyday killing curses and inadvertently saving lives does it really matter the reason why? Or the morality behind it? Maybe not to you but to the society, maybe.

So anyway, hypothetically ….would you be hypothetically interested👀
