I'm sorry you feel hurt and betrayed.

It's terrible to put your trust in someone and find out they aren't who you thought they were. But for what it's worth, I don't think you let your system down.

Life is about making mistakes and learning. You can't refuse to trust anyone just because you get burned in the past. Maybe it hurts now, but I don't think any lasting damage was done.

Personally, learning this... I find myself largely indifferent. I'm not at all surprised at this, knowing them. They've modded anti-endo discord servers, so why not an anti-endo sysbox blog?

My own feelings on Circ are complicated. I do not consider Circ safe for endogenic systems given their reblogs and support of anti-endos, and frequent parroting of anti-endo talking points.

At the same time, I actually do think their presence in anti-endo spaces has been a net positive for our goals in those communities. Circ has bragged a few times about making their anti-endo friends more pro-endo. And while I wouldn't say those friends became allies to the pro-endo community, many did switch to more neutral stances which I do think helped reduce hate against endogenic and pro endo systems in those spaces, and that seems like a good thing for me.

So I guess, while I don't care much for Circ as a person due to history there, I can acknowledge that their influence in anti-endo spaces ultimately serves my goals.

Besides, it's really upsetting some anti-endos so that's fun to watch! 😁

Like, if I was following a pro-endo blog and learned that one of the mods was anti-endo... and an anti-endo who bragged about making pro-endos more anti-leaning, I would be very suspicious of not just that one anti-endo but all the mods on that blog they were friends with.

How can you trust that your anti-endo sysbox mods haven't already been converted to the other side and aren't just lying to you about their syscourse stance???

Unfortunately, there’s lots of reasons why people are mean to each other. My best guess is that most antis will only show respect to other humans who share their beliefs - if those beliefs are challenged, or they meet someone who ships something “problematic”, antis feel these people no longer deserve respect, because they aren’t “decent human beings with morals and stuff”. We become sub-human in their eyes. So antis hate us, and they feel ~good~ about hating us, because they are standing on the side of all things Good and Right and Pure. Moral righteousness is a hell of a drug. And because of their Black/White thinking, they can’t allow us to co-exist peacefully - if they aren’t fighting us, then they’re “allowing” us to exist (read: “sympathizing”) and feel culpable for the evil things we do.

When this war started shortly after the video dropped, Antis were doing a damn fine job of silencing the fandom. Nobody was speaking positively about Remrom. There was no art, and no fic. People were scared to come out as ~neutral~, let alone pro-ship, and so they were hiding in fear. ~This~ is why they are so mean, because it ~WORKS~. If they’re mean enough, if they are loud enough, if ppl are afraid enough, then they can control the fandom. It wasn’t until after I started vocally fighting back that other proshipper slowly came forward under sideblogs of their own. I shone a mirror on the antis, calling them out on their bad behavior, and slowly more and more neutrals were brave enough to come forward and preach for peace. I don’t think I can take all the credit, but I like to think I played a big part in directing this fandom down a more peaceful path.

I try so hard not to get salty about Klance, because I do ship it, but I also have Shaladin ships and after being called a pedo incest shipper, etc, by mostly Klance shippers for so long it's just.. really hard to not want to lash out. I barely interact with any Klance content cause it doesn't feel safe, and all the hatred has really made me struggle to even still feel comfortable liking the ship. I hate that I feel so conflicted and keep swinging back and forth between proKlance and antiKlance.

hey man i know how this feels. i’m obviously very pro ship yet laith remains to be my main pairing in this series. i used to struggle a lot with these feelings, especially since i’ve gotten the same ribbing from antis just for being pro shaladin and have seen all my friends get that hate. it’s not an easy thing to wrestle with, and my heart really goes out to you nonnie.

i guess one thing that’s helped me is to separate antis from klance, which is no easy task. that’s one reason why i’ve started using laith over klance. laith isn’t used by most antis, so calling it laith and using ‘laithers’ has really helped me to separate it. also, for the most part i dropped the term klantis, and when i want to talk about klance shippers who were antis, i just call them antis. while most antis are klance shippers, i’ve certainly met my fair share who weren’t klance fans, in fact some of them detest it. it’s not the ship that’s anti, hell, it’s not even the shippers since i think antis now make up a minority of the klance shipping community, it’s just a couple of assholes who refuse to do basic research into psychology. klance isn’t an anti ship, and it takes time to remove the connotation, but it’s worth it, trust me.

(personally, i consider nothing in this fandom an ‘anti thing’ because they don’t belong here if they can’t respect other people. when will they learn to blacklist and move on like damn)

another thing i do a lot is just... sit back and reflect on why i like the ship so much. i enjoy keith and lance’s competitive, impulsive dynamic a whole lot, and i think as they mature they could grow into a very passionate couple that still retains their youthful connection no matter how old they become. their teasing can turn into playful, loving banter, and they share a sense of adventure. i think lance’s bright personality provides levity to keith, and keith is a pillar of strength and an achor for lance. fire and water create steam, they’re two elements that can change at will, one moment cool and calm, and the next a complete disaster, and that suits them. I was wondering if any [past or present] Jonerys, Pro-Daenerys fans like myself feel this way.....?

Firstly Id say please be nice i just enjoy analyzing the shit out of fandoms I like, (im a history/polysci major ((with an emphasis on Peace Justice and & Conflict Studies)) all i do is analyze and try to be diplomatic lmao) but considering all they petty drama between both ships as well as pro/anti Daenerys stans ON BOTH SIDES I’m going to be “That Person” and at least ask for people to be respectful/civil, I want to hear from everyone and their metas/what they think which is why i tagged like, all the tags, no matter if you love her/the ship or cant stand it, as long as everyone can keep civil So firstly I’ve loved Dany both books and show from the beginning. She’s gorgeous, wants to be the best person she can be, and her hair/fashion style game is always ON POINT.  That being said, somewhere around season 5 i think i’ve found my opinion on her cooling a little bit, ep after ep, till now. Like I still like her bc she was my first character love on the show but I’ve def soured in my opinion on her. Maybe it’s because I love learning about the subject that im more baised (im hoping thats the case) but she just seemed to have no interest in actual governance, just the reputation (esp of being the ‘rebel queen’)/the awe/the power/the thrill of the adoration that went along with it to the point where I feel like though she still wants to be a ‘good queen’ or at least wants to be seen that way, she doesnt want to do much work for the title. Like yeah she freed all the slaves and that was a def progressive and awesome move on her part (major props! slavery is sin and im glad someone recognized that who had the power to do something about it) but she didnt handle that aftermath or ensuing problems well at all nor really mulled heavily on the subject to find the best solution. She just got fustrated with pretty basic/common (albeit complex in themselves) issues of standard governance and kind of went agh! fuck this! (obv not actual quotes but that was the vibe I got). And then ESPECIALLY after season 7 her character has kind of nagged at me in the back of brain which i hate but its inherent like its just a feeling i cant help it?? I just dont know why to be honest that Im feeling so negative towards this character i used to love.  The whole ‘ bEnD thE knEe ‘ thing w/ Jon and yet pinning it on Jon’s pride not equally on his and her own was more than a little hypocritical, when hon they can discuss it later like at that point they have two common enemies the WW and Cersei they both want to do away with, and then again with the Bend the Knee or Die bit w/ the Lannister soldiers. In fact the whole sequence before that point felt kind of villinous I dearsay, I mean  deliberately burning the harvest that most of westeros needs for the winter or even strategically not willing to try, and well, nOOt intentionally burn the food considering its winter, the harvest is over (so likely not much is gonna grow in the time being) when she has a G I A N T ass army of her own to think of feeding???? Like i get it is war shit happens soldiers die but the F O O D ? Was that an impuslive in the moment mistake or did she just not give a fuck? And back to the aftermath scene/Bend the Knee 2.0, her speech was again quite hypocritical...and burning dickon?????? not willing to keep prisoners???? either bend or die??? I actually am glad she did away with Papa Tarly bc he was an awful human, but dickon????? a young idealistic man about to loose his father??? the heir to a major ally/house???? And honestly that bend or die strategy is soooooo dumb bc now she cant trust any of them like theyre only bending the knee out of self preservation homie, no one wants to die. they bend  the knee to survive and now they all of the sudden think youre their queen? Nah fam, prisoners were better, all you got are spies in your camps or people willing to backstab you at the smallest promise of coin. And i dont want that for my girl

Im so disapointed but more than that I cant see the romance or the chemistry. He looks constipated. Hes never smiled like with his teeth around her the way hes done w others he cares deepily about (ygritte, toramund, sansa, even fkin gendry in the first scene they had together). He never reveals anything about himself. And between the “my queen” ep (and remember he was look warm when discussing her to toramund throughout it) and the previous the only thing that changed was that he saw the actual difference dragons made against WW. You could argue she saved them all too but that doesnt make you fall in love w someone out of the blue and also people have saved his ass before and??? Sansa w the vale anyone??? (Not an argument for jonsa js its happened) (though ill admit ive transitioned to loathing jonerys and loving jonsa more as a potential couple in the space of seven eps where if you asked me I wouldve been like PSH u cray. I never thought it would happen in a mill years but D&D ruined my ship and here i am! Shipping aside tho since its best too look at these things as neutral as possible).  Anyways the sigh of his after she left and when he pretended to be asleep.... idk. The only scene that felt genuine and where Jon smiled and it didnt look like a full on grimace and they actually kinda joked around was really nice and at the pit at the finale and if they do a LOT more of basic romance stuff like that I could ship it again but. It was followed by boatsex and boy.  I was hoping boatsex might rekindle my like for the two together. I could see the chemistry the passion. I was hoping the passion would overwhelm me and make up for the rest. But instead......like there was no foreplay, it lasted 2 seconds, and it was overplayed by brans voice and a reminder of future conflict or at the very least major angst b/w the two. i didnt see the parallel between regear and lyanna playing alongside their scene as anything romantic or that it should be taken as such. and the look they shared.... I was hoping jon would bring it bc Dany’s look in her eyes is like soooo smitten and adorable and say what you will I still have a space in my heart for her and still dont want her to suffer, but again Jon looks like oh shit/constipated. And not in a good oh shit way either.  There is a bunch more too but Imma stop there bc Im just tired at this point.  So many things were just....off this season. And it cant all be blamed on the “rushed” time frame. I’ve read the undercover lover theory and hon it makes the most sense (not perfect sense but still, more than what we’ve been poorly spoon fed) but im not willing to believe it just yet. Still, maybe D&D are just butchering a lot of things like making the romance believable and stuff for the sake of time that could be true i guess. Why does President Trump think technology is a dirty word?

Vice President Mike Pences embarrassing use of an AOL email account is just another painful reminder of something that should be crystal clear to everyone: this administration doesnt understand or care a lick about technology.

Its an especially painful reality as we come off the high of an administrations 8-year-love affair with technology and social media. They held Maker Fairs on the White House Lawn, for heavens sake. Former President Barack Obama personally fired a marshmallow canon during the White House science fair. Obama was so enthralled by technology and innovation that he made it a centerpiece of his 2013 State of the Union Address.

Can you even imagine Donald Trump mentioning 3D-printing?

Donald Trump has what can only be characterized as an open antipathy toward technology and innovation. He rarely uses either of those words, and is so fixated on bringing back antiquated industries that rely on outmoded technology, he rarely casts his eyes forward. If ever.

Trump sees technology as just another rhetorical weapon. In other words: only worth using when it can be aimed in an attack. He spent much of the past year railing against Hillary Clintons improper use of a personal email account, and the Russian hack of the Democratic National Committee.

Aside from appointing Rudy Giuliani, a lawyer, as his cyber security czar, and a terse, awkward December meeting with Tech CEOs, mentions of any form of technology and innovation have faded into the background.

We shouldn’t be surprised.

His very first speech as President of the United States made it clear that tech wasn’t on the agenda.

Trumps inauguration speech was nearly tech-free, in fact. There was one mention of technologies of tomorrow, which is vague enough to mean nothing.

In his more recent speech before a joint session of congress, there was definitely zero mentions of technology or innovation.

Of course, you could fairly argue that few humans have used social media to greater effect than President Trump. He understands this narrow slice of technology, and embraces it. There’s an argument to be made that it helped him win the highest office in the land.

On the other hand, his and his staffs use of the platform borders on abuse. There are constant flubs, misspellings, and deletionsdeletions of what should be part of public record. Dan Scavino, the Presidents Director of Social Media, seems more interested in pumping up his boss and his policies than in creating a digital window to the administration.

Trumps policies are, to be charitable, anti-tech. Theres his FCC appointment which will probably kill Net Neutrality and squelch innovation by smaller startups that could get nudged out of site on a pay-to-play Internet

And then theres the HB-1 visa situation. Trumps blanket attacks on immigration have thrown this pipeline for global tech talent into disarray. There was, during the congressional speech, just a hint that Trump may be turning around on this.

Switching away from this current system of lower-skilled immigration, and instead adopting a merit-based system, will have many benefits: it will save countless dollars, raise workers’ wages, and help struggling familiesincluding immigrant familiesenter the middle class.

It’s just hard not to wish he’d come out and said something about attracting skilled workers to the U.S.

He didnt, and I dont think he will. Instead, Trump will keep banging the drum loudly for the return of 19th and 20th-centruy industries like steel and, especially, coal.

Oddly, Trump can never acknowledge that the only way coal comes back is with more automation (technology), and fewer human employees. Then again, it’s not exactly a winning message.

Even if Trump werent anti-technology, his lack of interest in the subject is a blow to those who believe in innovation, and a bad example for young people who see a leader uninterested in breakthroughs, or the gadgets they love.

Hes not one of us. Hes the luddite dad who wont use email, doesnt get Snapchat, and keeps grousing about the death of 35 mm film.

Things would be better if Trump were balanced, at least a little bit, by a Vice President who cared about the tech space.

Needless to say, that isn’t Mike Pence, apparent AOL email fan and hack victim.

Sure, his emails werent as highly sensitive as Hillary Clinton’s (who, yes, should’ve known better), but some are sensitive enough that the current governor wont just hand them over.

Maybe Trump talks so little about technology because hes laser-focused on jump-starting the economy with infrastructure projects.

And yes: Infrastructure’s important. It can be a huge driver in the economy. But infrastructure projects of this century will rely on technology. Project managers may be carrying iPads or Surface Pros, not pen and paper. Architectural plans will be worked out on computer. Those buildings bridges, roads and tunnels will be modeled in 3D and walked through via VR long before the first layer of concrete is poured.

Has Trump or Pence ever tried VR? Im betting they havent. I bet theyve never even seen AR.

The one bright spot: Trump has left the U.S. Digital Service, formed under Obama, pretty much alone. It’s like a skunkworks, quietly operating as part of the Executive Office of the President (!) and still posting on its Medium Blog. The only reason it survives? Best guess is that Trump’s budget proposal hasn’t made it to Congress. Yet.

In Trumps first month in office, there was one big tech moment. Perhaps you remember it.

Trump hosted Intel CEO Brain Krzanich at the White House in February. Krzanich was there to announce a $7 billion dollar investment in the companys new Arizona fab. Fab 42 is an investment in Intel, but also the U.S.s future in innovation and leadership in the semiconductor industry, he said.

After Krzanich spoke, Trump motioned toward the silicon wafer sample Krzanich brought with him.

Trump: Thank you, Brian. And you have something over there. Show a little bit about the new product.

Krzanich: This is an example of the wafer that will be built in Fab 42. This is one of our newest 10-nanometer silicon wafers. Seven-nanometers will be built in Fab 42. And this is the future of computing.

Trump: That’s great, thanks. Do you have any questions for Brian?

It was clear Trump had no idea what that wafer is used for and, to be honest, likely didnt care. Trump was happy to have another CEO pay fealty to him, and show the world that hes keeping jobs in America.
