PHYSICAL PROMPTS

‘ Û, AVON CARED, ADA! ’ Such fervent denial came abundant. Not a DENT to be found in it’s flow, so handsomely was it fed by the stubborn defiance to enflame youthful veins. Defiance SEWN from the tapestries of both parents and one that refused to relinquish it's hold upon petite limbs as they flailed in their r e b e l l i o u s distaste atop their new perch. Nay! Defeat would not come to him so easily! For he was a babe no longer. And as such, he simply was not yet tired!
Such a WOUNDING of young pride that had come! To be so easily swept upon a parents shoulder. Protests allowed and UNHINDERED, yet offering little effect in an effort to STALL a father’s lengthy stride. GREENLEAF’S hands grappling with the finely embroidered fabric of the King’s attire as purchase and l e v e r a g e was sought. The young princeling’s limited strength attempting to find freedom neath an ancient grip to no avail, FRUSTRATION creasing and tightly drawing the elfling’s BROWS.
It was with much fanfare that vehement struggles at last ceased. Alas! Alas! It was no good! LEGOLAS falling limp, UNMOVING upon the broad shoulder that braced his sparse weight. A great exhale of p r o n o u n c e d breath following. As though the ellon had thus suffered a great BLOW by this shameful defeat. The THRANDUILION’S face against a father’s back. Words m u f f l e d neath the covering of shimmering fabrics. ‘ Ae! Leithio nin, len iallon ada. ’

My thoughts on Seabound!!! 🌊🌊🌊 (3/4)
SPOILERS ALERT!!!
Yep yep yep, I'm liking this season a lot! 😍 Although I hope we'll get into a more frantic situation now, like with more battles and more bonding moments (Nya and Maya hopefully, but with Bentho too 🦈🦈🦈)! We got half a season to go, I'M READY!! 😎😎
Alright, here we go!
GENERAL THOUGHTS
I do like the season a lot, maybe MoM was a little more cohesive? Idk but it's not a big complain, I still love it so far 😍
Also maybe I would've liked more interactions between Nya and Maya about how they've been apart for so long, they had a chit chat but I would've loved even more. Maybe with Nya saying that it was fine and she grew up only to realize she is still hurt by that, even though it wasn't Maya's fault. I still like how they did it, I wished there was more that's it 🤷♀️
While I do make sense to Maya's behavior, that while it seems a little different from Hands of Time it had its logic in my opinion, maybe Ray feels a little weird? He seems less courageous than before, and it was established that he is a hothead like his son so that came off as unusual 🤔🤔
But I do love the fact that he's here and he's bonding with his son, for real, I've been waiting for this for so long so I'm happy nonetheless 🤩
Maybe I'm just easy to please and I take all I can get idk 😅
THE STORM AMULET
Oh, are we gonna address the wind element? It feels like we haven't really seen a Morro reference since Hands of Time, that would be cool! 😍 I mean, why even mentioning the wind then 😅😅
Well what do you know, they tracked them, who saw that coming?... me, I saw that coming... we all did probably 🤷♀️
Jay took upon himself making a quick recap on how Ninjago will be destroyed this time, thanks Bluebell 👌
Yep nyeheh electricity makes Nya go crazy for sure ❤💙 ... wait it wasn't a Jaya pun?
Jay wear your seatbelt please, you risk you life enough 😅😅 Pff lol "are we there yet" and they are actually there, biggest plot twist I've ever heard of 😂
LEGO HUG 💜💜💜
And with someone who might as well join the League of Jay apparently 💙
I liked The Island yet it was not as exciting as I hoped for, but now understand the meaning of it. The ninja helped the keepers and they are all allies. Without The Island the moment where Mammatus gives Nya the amulet wouldn't be as meaningful
Is it just me or Nya looked even more gorgeous during that moment?... just me huh? Okay then 😂💕
Wait that's a fake? Wait... UNCLE POWERS?!? OMG THAT I ACTUALLY DIDN'T SEE COMING 🤯
Here I thought he was just messing around, he always makes things harder 😅 Or maybe better? I mean, they kinda missed a bullet on this one...
BENTHO IS SO SWEET AND COOL OMG HE IS ALREADY OUR FRIEND 💙🦈💙🦈
Jay somehow had his own TV show in the past and yet he's got that horrible acting skills wth 😂😂😂
Kalmaar is a very cool villain, like, deeply evil. Not only he's calculated and merciless, he stops at nothing to get what he wants. And the people that get in the way? He wants them to suffer because they had dared to confront him 😳
And yes the voice does help a lot, I'm sorry I'll keep saying it until the season is over 😂 (or even beyond? Please cast Giles again LEGO 🥺🥺🥺)
Awww Nya no my poor girl 😢 Jay wanted to hug her to comfort her he is so sweet my SHIP ❤💙❤💙
MOM PEP TALK MOM PEP TALK!!! 🤩🤩🤩 How cool was it?
Like, this isn't even Maya asking Nya to believe in herself, this is her saying that she KNOWS her daughter can do anything when she puts her mind into it. FINALLY SHE SEES HOW AMAZING WATER GODDESS IS 💜💜💜
MORE LEGO TEARS OMG THIS SEASON IS FILLED WITH TEARS 😱 Which... kinda makes sense considering it's a water based season 😂
Nice one, and now? NOW WE GO BACK TO KAI COLE AND RAY YAS!!! ❤🖤❤🖤
RIDDLE OF THE SPHINX
That is... surprisingly Egypt theme like? It feels like a title coming from the Fire Chapter of season 11... well we got two fire elementals so 😍😍
SPARRING KAI AND RAY
I REPEAT SPARRING KAI AND RAY!!! SPARRING KAI AND RAY!!! ❤❤❤ Lol Ray got old, but how can someone blame him? He did touch death while aging in Hands of Time, I'm just happy he is alive 😂
Yep, master prankster Wu, that's what I love 👌👌 I always thought Wu had become a father figure for Kai at the beginning, so seeing Ray and Wu in the same picture feels very wholesome to me 😚
Ah, uncle Powers, I both love you and hate you so freaking much 😌😌 But you make cool slides nonetheless 😂
ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL ME WITH BEAUTIFUL SMITH INTERACTIONS??
BECAUSE I LIKE IT KEEP GOING 🤩
Oh no you guys are stranded on an island whatever are you going to do?? It's not like you had already before and managed to survive (Skybound) or you got stranded on a rock in a sea of sand filled with giant monsters (Fire Chapter) or you were on a freaking COMET in SPACE (Rebooted). Yeee, this is the worst yet 🙂
I'm starting to think these ninja are just a bunch of drama queens so no matter what happens, it's always hopeless 😂😂 I feel like I'm kinda right on this one honestly 😛
Whoa whoa WHOA WHO IS NYAD THIS SOUNDS VERY COOL???
Aww I like that, while Ray told his kids stories about dragons and how they traveled through the Underworld, Maya told them about Nya the first water master that could summon whales 💙❤💙❤
Pff imagine if it turned out Nya was the master of fire, carrying a very water based name? Lol
Maya: I would know if it was possible!
Nya: Yeah, like she knows that I can control a bit of ice because it's frozen water
Maya:...
Maya: YOU WHAT
I find both interesting and very annoying that this explorers club thinks so highly of themselves, to the point the deny to aid even the FREAKING SAVIORS OF THEIR FREAKING LAND 🤦♀️🤦♀️
Misako got good reflexes after all, Kai was probably ready to melt this guy's face 😅
Oh, so a trial by Sphinx is a challenge? A mental one? A cultural one? A physical one? Idk but Misako is actually taking charge and that is cool I guess 🤷♀️
Okay this is kind of weird, how is Ray so afraid? Is it because there's fire?... did he... did he grow afraid of fire for some reason? Because it feels a bit off for now, but if there is a deeper meaning that could be interesting 🤔
Wait is that the riddle from Decoded? That's fire right?
IT IS FIRE 🔥🔥🔥
Lol at least in this one Kai wasn't completely ignored 😂 I know my flame babe isn't the most rational person, but I do like that it was an answer connected to his element where he used his head!
Ah Clutch, you really got no backbone 😅 And apparently you're the only explorer who doesn't, dang look at the others go! I'm having a bit more respect for them now 😚
LOOK AT SENSEI GO FINALLY!!! 😍😍 FIGHTING SCENES HECK YES!!!
Kalmaar: I'm your conquerer
Wu: so after skeletons, the serpentine, nindroids, the Stone Army, Chen's army, ghosts, oni, more snakes but on fire and people from a game, that makes you the tenth. Have a free cookie
Kalmaar:...
Wu: you're not special
Is this a little throwback to Possession too? Nya seems to always control better water when she doesn't actually think about it. When her feelings are free, so are her powers 🌊🌊🌊
Also this opens up more possibilities! Creatures connected with other elements might get summoned too! I would love something like that 😍😍
This was NEAT, or maybe I just missed Kai that much ❤ What's next??
PAPERGIRL
ANTONIAAAAAAAA!!!! MY GIRL IS BACK!!! All my girls are back in this season, I'm so happy 😍😍😍 And if she is here, sweet little Nelson has to be around and I cannot wait! Bring in the purple ninja! 💜
Owww Antonia's last day as a papergirl? Nooo why??
She's got a job at the... DAIRY DRAGON??? OMG OMG OMG IT'S THE ICE CREAM PLACE BRAGI TOLD US ABOUT ON TWITTER!!! 🤩🤩🤩 I remember the post, he was asking about names for the place and ice cream flavors. Now I can't wait to see what did he choose 🍦🍦🍦
UNAGAMI BABY HI HONEY!!! 🙋♀️ I hope he's doing great 😘😘
This is so cool honestly, Antonia got her own character arc going on! Living in a chaotic city like Ninjago City must be pretty dang exhausting 😅
Was... was that Dareth in the garbage can? Am I wrong? Poor brown ninja 😅🤎😅
SPINJITZU SWIRL, BANANAKHAN, ORANGE SERPENTINE, I'M DYING 😂😂😂
Their friendship is so wholesome, I'm so happy they are still together no matter what happens 💕
I thought Kalmaar wasn't much of a fighter but DANG he's got skills! Also the fact that he uses tentacles makes the fight very cool to watch! 😚😚
RAY RUNNING IN AFTER KAI GOT HURT HECK YES ❤❤❤
Well at least you tried Ray 😅
Ah, little cameo of the original Weekend Whip, always nice to hear it again... AND DO THE WEEKEND WHIP!!! 🌪🌪🌪
EVEN NELSON GOT CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT I'M SO PROUD 💜
I don't even know what is cooler, the kids being mad lads on their bikes, Kalmaar driving a TRUCK or Kai going full parkour on the buildings to follow them 🤯
I'm sorry... am I the only one that during the Kai and Kalmaar talk kinda thought of Jestro and Clay? I miss my boys from NK, they're even more at odds now 😭😭
KAI YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DIE OR EVEN TRY TO DIE GET BACK HERE AT ONCE 😱😱
Kalmaar just loves to make everyone feel inferior, gotta be his hobby 😶
Oh good Kai is back
OH NOT GOOD KAI IS NOT BREATHING?!? FLAME BABE I TOLD YOU YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO DIE 😱😱😱
Antonia, Nelson, you guys are now my heroes. You saved my fave, I'll be forever in dept with you ❤❤❤ Am I being overdramatic? Most likely, but Kai is one of the few that didn't almost die or did die in a dramatic situation and he is also my absolute favorite character so that... kinda keeps my sanity in check in this show 🥴
I wonder... does he still not know how to swim? He saved Lloyd in Possession but I wonder if he was only trying to float on the surface... THAT'S TERRIFYING
This episode was so adorable, I love Antonia and Nelson so much 💜💕💜💕 It's nice to see what the other people of Ninjago do while everything goes mad 🤣
Wait hang on my Ninjajan is a little rusty
"Ninjago City. City that never sleeps" well if that ain't the truth 😂
MASTER OF THE SEA
Like Master of the Mountain? Wait are we going back to Shintaro?? VANYA?? ANOTHER BEST GIRL RETURNS??? 💛
Hey hey hey, we got a full Nyad backstory! I really like when they do these little drawn shots, they feel more like legends! And... the ending sounds terrifying? Like, they wouldn't let Nya sacrifice herself and die... again... right? 😱
Bentho: and the world was in balance, until now because of my brother
Lloyd: and the Overlord before of course
Bentho: the what now?
Lloyd: the evil one my grandpa the first Spinjitzu Master fought?
Bentho: YOUR WHAT NOW
Why do I like this offscreen "hiiiyaaa" that sensei Wu does before actually going into the scene? 😂😂
No matter if they come from the underground or the sea, these are all snake-like creature with the same intellect 😅 Kalmaar and Garmadon would have a lot to talk about, sea king dealing with his minions does remind me of Lord Garmadon in season 2 a lot 😂😂
KAI AND RAY FIGHTING TOGETHER KAI AND RAY FIGHTING TOGETHER ❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤
OMG Kalmaar is such a brat and petty villain I love him so much 😂😂😂 Yes I didn't even mention his amazing voice!... AH DANG IT 😳😳
*Misako kicks Kalmaar and is actually useful* 🙆♀️🙆♀️🙆♀️
*Misako gets taken as hostage immediately after* 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
KAI LITERALLY JUST GOT SAVED FROM DROWNING WHY MUST YOU DO THIS TO HIM!!!... and Ray and Cole and Wu of course, I care okay 😅
OMG that face 🤣🤣🤣
That some meme material right there
Whoa Vincent that voice just got super up when the Unsinkable showed up, it kinda sounded like Jay's lol
NO NOT BENTHO!!! 😢😢😢
Kai: Nya talks to whales now? (I snorted so hard at this 😂😂)
HECK YES NYA GOT THE AMULET!! 😍😍😍 ... we got, like, four more episodes to go so something needs to happen in between... do I need to be scared? I feel like I need to be scared 😅
Jay starting a fire then blaming Kai?... this is so in character I got chills 😂😂
SHARK BOY IS STAYING TO THE MONASTERY THIS IS SO PRECIOUS!!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 I want all the shenanigans and we need to write fanfictions about more shenanigans and AAAAHHHHH 🦈🦈🦈
Bless these two fire idiots
They own my heart ❤🔥❤🔥 Also Vincent, this is supposed to be a fun little gag moment, your amazing voice acting is kinda distracting me 😭😭😭
ANOTHER LEGO HUG
YOU GUYS ARE SPOILING ME OVER HERE HECK YES 💙🌊💙🌊
Maya learned that her daughter is capable of everything, I love that. Nya simply understood that she doesn't have to give up when something gets difficult. She is AMAZING and can do anything she puts her mind into. She simply has to hold on until the end 💪💪💪
Omg Benthomaar playing billiard with the guys I already love this 😍😍
YES IT IS SHINTARO!!! THE UPPLY ARE HERE OMG!!! HI VANYA YOU LOOK AMAZING GIRL MISS YOU I HOPE YOU'RE DOING OKAY!!! 💛💛💛 ... I just really like Master of the Mountain okay 😅
I love how Vanya doesn't even question it. It comes from Cole and he said it needs to be protected? Done and done 👌
Wait what, did something fall?
IS THAT THE FAKE?!?!? WHAT HOW WHEN??? UNCLE POWERS??? OR KALMAAR DID SOMETHING??? SOMEONE??? I'M LEGIT CONFUSED AND EXCITED??? 🤯🤯🤯
Well dang, I didn't see that coming, now what Seabound? What do you have for me?

Across The Street — Part Two
read part one here
a/n: just a short two parted series for y’all, I hope you enjoyed it!
Surely this wouldn’t be easy.
Those words were all that ran through your mind, but, if you’re being truthful, you didn’t know if it was anything to be worried about. Considering how he just kissed you and walked off, who does that?
But then, he started texting you daily, and sneaking flirty comments in when you’d see him in public, just enough to keep your mind at ease. Not to mention the kisses stolen when it was just the two of you. He wasn’t used to something like this, for him it kind of just always happened, but with you, it was different. He wanted to show you how you should be treated, and he hated to admit that how he normally went about things wasn’t how you deserved to be treated.
“Good luck on your first day!”
His text read, following a good morning message as well, it was finally time for you to start watching Steven and Emily, you were beyond ecstatic to fall into a routine. You needed it, a constant in your life. You were at a red light, just outside the kids neighborhood when you sent him a thank you, and told him to have a good day. It sounded cliche, but the two of you didn’t have that awkward phase, you skipped straight into being comfortable together.
Parking your car, you went inside and proceeded to have an amazing first day, both of the kids so happy to have you there, putting their mom at ease. Emily clung to your hip most of the day, still being new to walking, but she happily babbled to you whenever she wasn’t napping, and Steven was proudly showing off his Lego collection to you, and adorably telling you how Emily wasn’t allowed near them because she tried to eat them. You gasped, making him feel proud that he at least thought he taught you something new. By the end of the day you were beaming ear to ear, and couldn’t help but call Tyler on your drive home, you didn’t think much of the gesture, but Tyler did.
“Hello?” He answered, confused, not expecting to hear from you, not that he was complaining. “Tyler! I just had the best first day, I’m already in love with those kids, they’re so sweet, and cute, oh my god!” You rambled, stopping when he began to laugh over the phone. “What?” You pouted, even if he couldn’t see you. “Nothing, it’s just–am I the first person you called?” He questioned, and your face warmed up, “maybe.” You sang, he laughed under his breath. “That’s sweet, baby.” The word slipped before he could stop it, and you swear you couldn’t get even redder than you already were. “Mhm, who else would I call?” You teased him, listening as he went silent, you heard movement before he spoke, “dunno, Cassidy? Henry? Jenny?” He offered, laughing groggily, “oh my god! I’m sorry, your nap.” You rushed checking the time, they were away for a game, the time difference, you felt terrible. “S’alright.” He mumbled, “go to sleep, Ty.” You demanded with a giggle, “call me after the game?” You added in a questioning tone, unsure if that was pushing the bounds of this new relationship. “It’ll be so late there.” He reminded you. “I don’t care.” You admitted, realizing how badly you wanted to see him now. “Ok, ok, I’ll call.” He laughed softly, “bye, Y/N.” He murmured, “bye.” You repeated, hanging up the call, chewing your lip, a smile evident on your face.
“Why are you so happy?” Henry teased the second you walked in, you rolled your eyes, slipping your shoes off by the door, “it was my first day remember?” You called, walking through the kitchen, “how was it?” He paused whatever show he was watching, looking over the back of the couch towards the kitchen. You pulled out something to cook for dinner, “it was great! They’re such a nice family.” You gushed, not boring him with the details, knowing he wouldn’t bother to listen anyways. “I’m going out with Jenny again tonight.” He spoke over his show as he turned it back on. Your eyebrows shot up, “really?” You squealed, bouncing in the kitchen. Henry only laughed in response at your enthusiasm. You were happy that the two were working out so far, and Jenny was the only one who knew about you and Tyler. Your mind drifted back to him as you cooked, about what it would be like to go on a proper date with him, not sneaking off when you were with your friends, or hushed conversations at night.
“Seriously, you're terrifyingly happy.” Henry grimaced, walking past you after he got ready for his date, you scoffed, trying to kick him as he walked past but he dodged it. “Am I not allowed to be happy oh dearest brother of mine?” You mumbled, scooping a spoonful of your rice and beef into your mouth. “I didn’t say that! It just seems like more than a good first day of work…” he trailed off, eyeing you suspiciously. “Is it a boy?” He raised an eyebrow, you shrugged, “don’t wanna be late for your date, Henry.” You pointed to the time, and he gasped, panicking as if she wasn’t just downstairs, but rightfully so, because then he’d have no excuse for being late. “Have fun!” You called as the door shut, slinking your way to your room after doing the dishes, you wasted time on your phone until the game was supposed to start. After making sure you had your things ready for work again tomorrow, your music cut off as you got a notification, making you rush over to your phone. A Snapchat from Tyler, a simple photo of his laced up skates, “almost game time, you gonna watch?”
You laughed, rolling your eyes, you already had the channel on the TV, and your Seguin jersey, of course you had one, it had been–at the time–a terrible Christmas gift from Henry, but now it wasn’t so bad. You walked over by the TV, taking a silly selfie, “of course I’m watching, I’m offended you thought I wouldn’t!”
He opened it nearly instantly, and you turned pink as you got the notification of him taking a screenshot. “That better be my jersey.” A chat, instead of a photo, “no, it’s Roope’s.” You laughed, receiving a string of angry emojis from him. You felt a little daring tonight, and you felt good, running off a high from today, so you stepped into the bathroom, turning to the side so the number on the sleeve showed, sending him a picture, the caption only being a winking face. This time you chuckled as he took a screenshot, he wasn’t shy, that’s for sure. He didn’t respond, which you expected as the game was supposed to start in a few minutes. You curled up against your headboard, plugging your phone in beside your bed and snuggling in for the game. Happy that Henry was out, giving you the chance to shout at the game as much as you want without him questioning your sudden concern for the players, Tyler specifically. But it was a good game, an easy game, which was good, as you weren’t sure you’d be able to handle anything serious happening when they were so far away.
When you woke up to your alarm, realizing Tyler never called, you were slightly upset, but it melted away when you saw the texts from him in your phone.
“Are you up?”
“Told you it was gonna be late, goodnight Y/N”
You laughed, typing out a congrats and good morning text before beginning your new routine for the day.
It went like this for a while, the boys gone on a string of away games for a couple of weeks, which felt like an eternity to you.
You were thankful for Henry’s ever changing work schedule, since he was working late tonight, installing traffic lights, you were going to Tyler’s house, he just got back this afternoon and insisted you come over, since you would have just been sitting alone at home. You were suddenly very aware that you were coming straight from work, your clothes reeking of the baby food Emily had spilt on you today. You grimaced, not coming to this realization until you were pulling up his driveway. No going back now, the dogs started barking when they heard your door shut, they came running out as Tyler opened the front door for them. “Hi puppies!” You shrieked kneeling in the grass, allowing them to smother you in licks and tail thumps. Gerry the youngest, and most excited jumped, putting his paws on your shoulders, sending you backwards into the grass. “Gerry!” Tyler laughed, coming over to you, you were a giggling mess underneath the dog, as he pinned you down, licking the sides of your face repeatedly. “Gerry, that’s enough.” Tyler spoke again, looking down at you with outstretched hands when the dog moved, you pouted, letting him help you up. “Don’t be so mean to him.” You mumbled teasingly as Gerry nudged between the two of you, Marshall and Cash calming down and sitting on either side of you. “Are you more excited to see me or the dogs?” Tyler questioned, wrapping his arms around your waist, you held your chin in thought. “Oh definitely the dogs.” You answered, laughing when he tried to move away from you. “No.” You whined, throwing your arms around his neck, “I missed you.” The words slipped from your mouth, but you couldn’t care to be embarrassed as he hummed in response before kissing you, maybe it was the two weeks apart, but this was definitely the best kiss you’ve had in your short relationship. He squeezed you a little tighter, “Ty.” You mumbled pulling away as he chased your lips, “Tyler.” You spoke again, laughing as he opened his eyes with a dramatic whine. “We’re still in your front yard.” You reminded him, he looked around, “whoops.” Dragging you inside, the dogs following happily.
You stayed tucked under his arm, giggling when he looked at you oddly, “what’s that smell?” He inquired, tilting his head to the side, you covered your mouth, hoping to hide the almost snort that fell from it. “Did you just snort?!” He gasped, trying his best not to laugh hysterically. “It’s baby food.” You answered, between your laughs, “the smell.” You added when he looked lost, “oh!” That sent him into a real fit of chuckles, “did you want a shirt?” He asked once he calmed down, you bit your lip but nodded, you saw his eyes flicker to your lips but he didn’t say anything. You followed him around the large house, trying to remember your way around. “So I was thinking.” Tyler trailed off, as he pulled a random stars shirt from his closet, “is that ever a good thing?” You retorted, watching as he gasped. “Well never mind then.” He huffed, handing you the shirt, making his way out of the room so you could change the material. “No, what is it?” You questioned following him, easily slipping the shirt on, it ended about mid thigh, but it didn’t matter as you had jeans on. “I was going to cook–“ he glanced back, eyeing you over, his words coming to a halt. “Uh, cook? Did you want to stay for dinner?” He managed to get out, you smirked, knowing his reaction was related to seeing you in his shirt. “I’d love to stay for dinner.” You answered with an innocent smile, resuming your spot under his arm, he nodded, clearing his throat as he walked. You laughed softly, such a guy.
You pushed yourself up onto the edge of the counter, swinging your legs girlishly, Tyler turned to face you, you motioned him closer. “You played so good when you were gone.” You mumbled, resting your arms over his shoulders, like this was a normal occurrence, his hands rested just above your knees. “Yeah?” He smiled, “you watched?” He questioned, hoping this was going in the way your touches were leading, but if it wasn’t, he wouldn’t be mad, he wouldn’t rush you. “I watched every game.” You mumbled, his smile only widened, “every game?” He smirked, sliding his hand up a little higher. “In your jersey.” You whispered, one hand moving up to play with his hair. He still didn’t make a move to kiss you. “Ty, do I have to spell it out, or are you going to make a move.” You whined, suddenly worried that he didn’t even want to be with you like that. You pushed him back, “did I read this wrong? Oh my god, I’m so embarrassed.” You rushed, hiding your face in your hands, Tyler grabbed your hands, moving them off your face. “No, you definitely didn’t read it wrong.” He pulled you in for a kiss, smirking when you sighed into it, his arms moved around your back the tips of his fingers dipping into your back pocket. You leaned away, keeping your forehead pressed against his. “I believe I was promised dinner first.” You teased, watching as he laughed, “I’m more of a dessert first kinda guy.” He mumbled, “Tyler Paul Seguin!” You shrieked, lightly whacking his arm, laughing but not fighting him when he pulled you back in. Yeah, it was a late dinner that night.
You looked in front of where Tyler parked, and over at him, then down at your clothes, “why are we so dressed up, to go to the park? At night?” You questioned, looking at him with confused eyes. Over a month of dating him, and he still managed to confuse you. Secret dating, keep in mind, so you were still learning somethings about each other. “Because, I didn’t want you to figure out what we were doing, and I thought you would like it.” He answered, cheeks pink, he shut the jeep off, demanding you stay in your seat as he hopped out. You giggled but agreed, not wanting to ruin his hard efforts, he opened the door for you, holding his hand out for you. “And they say chivalry is dead.” You laughed, allowing him to help you down, he grabbed your other hand, steadying you when you stumbled a bit in your heels. “Are we going in the grass?” You questioned, before he could shut the car door, “yes?” He answered skeptically. You placed a hand on his shoulder, using it to steady yourself as you reached down and pulled your heels off. “I’d sink if I tried to walk in the grass in these.” You laughed when he looked at you confused, he nodded, understanding what you meant. “Are you going to get cold?” He sounded concerned, releasing your hand to reach into the backseat while you threw your heels onto the floor of the passenger seat. He pulled out a basket, and your face fell into a happy pout. “Tyler, that’s so cute.” You gasped, leaning up to kiss his cheek. “Oh thank god.” He mumbled, the tension in his shoulders releasing. “You were nervous?” You asked, smiling as he laced your fingers together again.
“Of course, why wouldn’t I be nervous? I have to impress you.” He gasped dramatically, you smiled with a shake of your head, “you don’t have to do anything special to impress me.” You assured him, allowing him to lead you to a spot in the grass, a blanket already there, you smiled again, in awe of the effort he went through. “So cute.” You grinned, carefully sitting in your dress, he followed, sitting beside you, popping the basket open. You threw your head back in laughter when the food in the basket was takeout from your favorite restaurant, coincidentally the one you had went to the first night you moved here. “Surprise.” Tyler laughed, opening the container, “you remembered?” You gasped seeing the same pasta you ordered that night. He shrugged, looking down as he stuck a fork into his food, “aw, bub, thank you.” You placed your hand on his leg, “this is all really sweet.” You added, giving him a quick kiss, “I’m glad you like it.” He mumbled, shifting in his spot, taking another bite of his food. You put your food down, moving to be in front of him, holding back your insecurities, “are you alright, Tyler? You’re acting weird.” You questioned, sitting in front of him. “I’ve never done stuff like this.” He admitted, finally, finally, meeting your eyes. “What?” You didn’t understand what he meant.
“Romantic stuff, personal stuff, I just, I’ve never wanted to do it for someone before.” He explained, watching as you nodded, processing his words, “I’m flattered that you want to do those things for me, I really am, but Tyler. I don’t want you to think you have to do this to impress me, I’m perfectly happy spending our dates watching Netflix and playing with the dogs.” You explained, wishing he would understand that, this wasn’t how you wanted tonight to go. “Yeah, but you deserve this too.” He sighed, also frustrated with how this date started going. You shook your head, taking a bite of your food, “we’re trying too hard.” You deadpanned, and it was true, both of you were trying to rush this along, but you didn’t have too. There was no rush, there was no need to speed it up, you already knew each other, and maybe, just maybe, that’s why the two of you were trying to be farther along than you were. “I know.” He sighed, undoing a button on his shirt, slumping down more. “Let’s just talk then.” He added, relaxing as he realized you felt the same.
“Mhm, this food is cold but good.” You laughed, bringing your teasing back into the date, Tyler chuckled, desperately stabbing at his pasta, the noodles continuing to mush and roll away from his fork, “how’s work?” He asked, missing the stories you would call and tell him when he was on the road, you grinned and pulled your phone out, showing him the video you took of Emily walking completely on her own to Steven. He felt much more at peace as the two of you fell into easy conversation, and how he could look at you while you spoke and see the happiness you emitted as you talked about them. “They’re cute.” Tyler commented, smiling at the pictures of them you had, “I love them, it’s not even like a job, you know? I just love going to see them every–what? Why are you looking at me like that?” You cut yourself off, catching the way he was smiling, his most genuine one so far. “Cause you’re cute when you ramble.” He answered in a duh tone, “see this is much better.” You grinned, scooting closer to him, letting out a surprised shriek when he pulled you over one of his legs, leaving you sitting between them, your back against his chest. He smiled, placing a lazy kiss to your cheek, “can I ask something?” He murmured, wrapping his arms around your torso. “Anything.” You mumbled, leaning further into his hold, when he didn’t speak you looked up to see him smiling down at you fondly.
“It’s stupid, but I’ve always wondered–more so now, what you were really crying about on the dock that night.” Tyler explained, confusion settling on his face when you started giggling uncontrollably, never thinking you’d be having this conversation. “What?” He questioned when you looked at him and started laughing harder, you took a breath, calming yourself down. “It’s stupid, Ty, you wouldn’t understand.” You mumbled, it didn’t matter if he knew now, he was your boyfriend after all, you just knew he’d be confused. “Try me!” He whined, now really interested at the fact you were laughing about it now, but crying about it then. “I was the first one of my friends to have boobs.” You spoke bluntly, and he stared at you, trying to determine if you were being serious. “You were crying over that?” He mumbled, eyebrows knit together in confusion. “Oh my god,” you paused to laugh, smoothing the wrinkles on his forehead out, “it’s not like guys, girls were mean because of it. And older guys would stare, it was just not a good year.” You laughed, Tyler still looking at you uncertain, “why did I ask.” He muttered, nuzzling his face into your neck. “Dunno, babe.” You sighed, happy with his reaction to the pet name, you could feel him smiling against your skin. He was definitely the one that used your name less, but maybe now you’d start using his name less too.
****
Jenny smirked at you as you kept changing your mind about what to wear to this house party, more of a get together but you were certain there would be more people there than you thought. “You don’t want to be obvious.” She reminded you, being the only one that knew about you and Tyler, tonight would be the first time you two were hanging out in such a public setting with all your friends around, and you were wondering how it would go, and quite honestly, how you would keep yourself from kissing him the second you got there. “I know, but I also want to know that he’s looking at me.” You spoke sheepishly, holding the two options out for her to survey. “Oh, definitely this one.” She pointed to the light wash skinny jeans, and burgundy sweater, “with those cute cut out boots!” She added, clapping her hands in success. You laughed, but did as she said, feeling good about yourself once you had the outfit on. “Are you guys ready yet?” Henry groaned from the living room, the two of you laughed, Jenny pulled her sweater on, giving you a smile, “let’s do this.” You were so grateful that she was your friend as much as she was your brother's girlfriend, it was the ideal situation to get along with someone so important in his life. “Quit rushing us.” Jenny chastised him once you two walked out of your room, he rolled his eyes but gave her a quick peck before heading to the door.
You arrived at Tyler’s house, shooting him a smile when he saw you, nothing too conspicuous, Roope waved, as well as some of the other guys who were here. Jamie gave you a quick hug, you’d grown quite close to him over the past couple of months, considering how often he was around Tyler. You made your way to the kitchen, grabbing yourself a drink, jumping when you felt arms wrapped around your waist. “Hi, baby.” Tyler mumbled, spinning your around for a quick kiss, you smiled against him, “hi.” You breathed out, “don’t get us caught.” You demanded, lightly pushing at him when he placed a kiss to the side of your neck. “Just getting my fix.” He teased, giving you one last peck before putting some space between the two of you. He started a casual conversation with one of the guys while they walked into the kitchen, getting themselves some drinks too. You snuck out, squeezing past them, mumbling a sorry when your hand grazed over Tyler’s. He smiled at you, hiding a laugh from your purposeful action.
“Hey, Y/N.” Roope smiled when you sat beside him on the couch, “hey, how’ve you been?” You questioned, settling into random conversation with the group around you, Henry being across the room with Jenny glued to his side, Roope beside you, and Esa beside him with his girlfriend. “Good, what about you?” He answered, keeping the talking going. You soon drifted into talking about random things, from work, to hockey, to random stories from over the years. Your head snapped up when Tyler walked in, a girl trying to keep herself tucked into his side, your stomach clenched, and you had to resist the urge reacting. Of course, you knew that since you wanted to keep this a secret, he couldn’t just stop his normal behavior completely. You shifted in your spot, before deciding to go get another drink, you made it a little stronger than the last one. “Y/N, are you alright?” Jenny came in beside you, she watched as you shrugged, “yeah, it’s just weird.” You admitted, giving her a solemn smile. “Maybe you guys should just stop keeping it a secret? Henry would get over it.” She offered, and you wanted to do that, but you were nervous. “I’m just afraid that if we do that, things will change, it’s been so easy! Not having to deal with people's opinions, or the boys chirping him.” You explained, sipping on your drink, the girl that was attached to Tyler just a moment ago, walked in and got herself a drink, already seeming more than tipsy enough. You shook your head, walking out as the conversation ended now. Tyler watched you walk out the back door where more people had dispersed, he discreetly followed you, pulling you to the side. “Tyler.” You sighed, he pulled you into the pool house, “don’t be mad, it’s just for show. I haven’t don’t anything with her, and you know I wouldn’t.” He rushed to explain, afraid you were upset with him. “You can’t expect it to be easy for me, how would you feel if I walked out with some guy wrapped around me?” You retorted, not meaning to snap, his face fell.
“I wouldn’t like it.” He confirmed, reaching for your waist, pulling you closer to him, “baby, I would walk out there right now with you all over me if you let me.” He assured you, he was over keeping it private after just over a month of sneaking around, he wanted to show you off, and be able to kiss you and hug you whenever he wanted. You nodded biting your lip, “I know, bub, soon, not tonight.” You whispered, pulling him in for a sweet kiss, “I promise, soon.” You added, feeling him nod against you. “Do you think you could figure out a way to stay tonight?” He mumbled, pushing your hair back. “I’ll figure it out.” You smiled, kissing him once more before sneaking out, he waited around in there for a minute, making sure nobody noticed how you both had walked out.
Instantly you went to find Jenny, hating that you were asking her but you needed a way to stay here without Henry questioning it. “Hey, Jenny, can I talk to you for a minute?” You asked, she looked up at you, smiling, Henry released her waist as she stood to follow you. “I’m spending the night here, is there anyway you could keep Henry distracted?” You pouted at the slightly older girl, she laughed, “one step ahead of you, he’s staying at my place tonight, he won’t know you didn’t come home.” She winked, strutting back to him, your mouth agape, “too much information.” You grimaced before she reached him, she laughed at you but accepted your grateful smile. As you were walking back towards the center of the party, you passed Tyler huddled around some of the guys, his cheeks pink, “is it her?” Miro asked, Tyler shook his head. “No you guys it isn’t like that.” He mumbled, “then what is it like? That girls been all over you tonight, and you don’t get marks on your back for no reason.” Jamie chirped the younger guy, your stomach dropped to your feet. They didn’t notice you as you walked by.
Before you knew it, everyone was gone, and you had more than one to many drinks. You were sitting on the couch, trying to hold your emotions together, but the alcohol only made you want to cry more. Tyler sighed, sitting beside you, for the first time all night, and only then did he realize how much you had drank. “Baby?” He laughed, reaching for your hand, his face quickly falling when you yanked away from him, he wasn’t completely in the wrong here, you were the one keeping it secret, but now your insecurities were getting the best of you. “Hey, what’s wrong?” He tried again, you shrunk away from him, “I don’t want to talk about it.” You sniffled, wishing you could hide. He shook his head, moving in front of you, “talk to me, don’t do this.” He murmured, grabbing your hands before you could move again, you looked down at him as he kneeled in front of the couch, he rested your connected hands on your lap. “I just–are you sure you want this? Want me?” You whimpered, the water slipping over your eyes, if you had been sober, you’d see the way Tyler’s heart so clearly broke when you started crying. “Y/N, of course I’m sure.” He rushed, releasing your hands to cup your face, “but you looked so much better with that other girl.” You admitted, and he realized these tears were more about yourself doubt than anything. He shook his head, “no, I look better with you, baby.” He assured, wiping at the tears, “I promise, you’re the one I want to parade around with at parties, only you.” He tilted your head down, kissing your forehead, frowning when your body slumped with a cry. “I’m sorry.” You whispered, “for what?” He gasped, leaning away to meet your eyes again.
“For keeping it a secret.” You whined, feeling your head already begin to hurt. “It’s alright, princess, let’s just get you to bed, yeah?” He murmured lovingly, helping you to your feet.
When you went to sleep that night you could swear he whispered an I love you into your hair, but you were too far gone to be certain.
Your hands shot to your head when you woke up, the pounding being unbearable, you shifted in the bed, freezing when you felt the weight of Tyler’s arm over your waist. He groaned incoherently into his pillow, “my head hurts.” You whispered, he groggily chuckled into his pillow, lifting his head slowly. “Mhm, I figured it would.” He smiled, he left a careful kiss to your head before pointing to the nightstand and laying back down. You looked over and saw a water and pain killers sitting there, you quickly took some before curling back into the bed. He watched you with a lazy smile as you rolled closer to him, “Ty?” You murmured, a hand resting on his jaw, lightly rubbing against his beard, he raised a brow at you. “I love you too.” You sighed, he widened his eyes before a cheeky smile came over his face, “I didn’t think you heard me.” He laughed, quietly, not wanting to hurt your head anymore. “I kinda took a leap of faith, assuming that I had heard you correctly.” You breathed out in relief, laying your head back down, “we can tell Henry, but not until after you make it to the conference final.” You added, smiling when he shot up, “really?” He gasped, apologizing when you winced. “Yes, now shush.”
***
This was it, the game that would tell you if they made it to the conference finals. You were sitting in the stands with Henry and Jenny, all three of you anxious beyond belief, this was a huge deal, and you were praying they’d make it through. Tyler and you had decided that if they won, you’d tell Henry tonight, right after the game, because Tyler knew he wouldn’t be able to resist kissing you during his game winning high, and well, if they didn’t, you’d probably also tell Henry tonight because you’d be a mess worrying for Tyler.
Puck drop, your heart rate picked up, grinning when Jamie won it, and sent it flying behind him. A good start, setting the tone. You could only hope the game would continue like that.
The first period did, if anything it got even better, they were ahead by two, the other team not even scoring.
The second period, that’s where things began to shift, the score was tied, Tyler was on the end of a long shift. He had been a little bit more feisty tonight, and that’s how you saw it coming, the way the player from the other team was skating right towards him, it was definitely going to draw a penalty as Tyler had passed the puck long before the opponent reached him. It felt like slow motion as you shot to your feet before they collided, Henry followed right after you, not noticing how you gasped sharply and your hands shot to your mouth. You watched Tyler’s head bounce off the ice as he went down, how thankful you were that his helmet hadn’t come off in the hit. He slid a little bit before the refs were blowing whistles constantly, swarming over to them as the opposing team member stood there, they directed him to a penalty box, Jamie skating over to Tyler as he didn’t try to get up. You watched your boyfriends hands go up to his face, hiding it from the cameras. Jenny wrapped you up in a hug, allowing you to hide your face in her hair. “It’s ok, he’s going to be fine, I’m sure.” She tried to assure you, but even her voice was shaky, it was a terrible hit.
You removed your head from her hair, and saw the team doctor making his way to the ice, kneeling beside him, he felt around his neck and shoulders, making sure nothing was broken, eventually, what felt like hours but was only two minutes, they were helping him to his feet, slowly walking him off the ice. Jamie came over to the glass in front of your section, searching for you. Jenny spotted him first, pointing him out to you. “Go.” He mouthed, having figured out your relationship quickly, you looked to Jenny with tears in your eyes, Henry coming to his senses and looking between you and the ice, eyes moving quicker than you’d ever seen. “Why you? What’s–oh my god.” It hit him, as you scrambled to make sure you had your phone, “go, go.” Jenny assured you, seeing the way you hesitated, you didn’t wait any longer, and took off towards the tunnels you’d learned your way around so well. Henry was calling for you over the sound of the crowd talking, but you didn’t stop, you could hear Jenny faintly as she told him to calm down.
You reached the locker room in record time, the security guard telling you that you couldn’t go in until they were done, you watched as people kept going in and out. Only furthering your nerves, you couldn’t be bothered to care anymore, the second they came out and one of them looked at you, you lost it. “I’m guessing your Y/N?” He spoke, a soft smile on his face, you nodded vigorously, “you can go in there now.” As you heard the loud speakers, “number 91 Tyler Seguin will not be returning to play tonight” your heart dropped, not needing to hear anything else as you stormed in there. Tyler sitting in the corner of the room, in a chair with his eyes shut, a bandage over his shoulder, and his brows furrowed in pain. You froze, letting out a cry at the sight of him, so clearly in pain, his eyes fluttered open at the sound, the second he met your eyes you were rushing over to him.
“Are you ok?” You whispered, carefully cupping his jaw, he nodded, wincing, “don’t cry because of me.” He mumbled, smiling softly when you shook your head with a breathy laugh. “You scared the crap out of me, Ty, that was the worst thing I’ve ever seen.” You sighed, gently kissing his pouted lips. “How bad is it?” You asked once you pulled away, carefully touching his shoulder, he groaned, and you instantly pulled your hand away. “Dislocation and a concussion, they put it back in, but damn it hurts like a bitch.” He muttered. “I’m sorry, baby.” You spoke gently, sitting beside him, he nodded, resting his head carefully back against the wall. You carefully played with his hair, knowing it soothed him, he smiled at the gesture, “you’re gonna put me to sleep.” He laughed gently, placing his hand on your thigh, squeezing it reassuringly. “I love you.” You murmured, moving to place your hand over his, “I love you.” He repeated, so happy that you were here with him. He leaned his head onto your shoulder, also happy that you sat on his good side, “I think Henry knows now.” You whispered.
The door opened and both of you looked over, Henry standing there in shock. “Yeah, I know.” He snapped, arms crossed, neither of you made an effort to move, he shook his head, “don’t be a dick, Henry.” You snapped, Tyler laughing but stopping as it increased the pain in his head. “Careful, bub.” You whispered, returning your hand to his hair, ignoring your brother, if he wasn’t going to be nice, then he didn’t deserve your attention. “How long?” Henry asked, in a softer tone, aware of how Tyler must be hurting. You sighed, “almost three months.” You practically mouthed, but he definitely heard you as his jaw all but dropped to the floor. “Three months?!” He snapped, and you glared when Tyler groaned, squeezing his eyes shut. You carefully pushed him off of you, “let me go talk to him.” You whispered, pecking him quickly, before dragging Henry out of there. “How? Tyler I mean–the age gap, but he’s him.” Henry stuttered out, his face pale, you shook your head. “Henry, I’m not in the mood to do this. This is why I didn’t want to tell you.” You mumbled, arms crossed as you looked up at him. “You can’t expect me to just be ok with this all of a sudden, you’re dating my best friend, that’s gross.” He snapped, and that was the last straw for you.
You tuned out the sound of the final buzzer filling the arena as you got close to Henry, “I love him, and he loves me. You’re just going to have to be a grown up about this, so you can either suck it up, and be a good brother, or you can go home and I’ll stay here to take care of my boyfriend.” You snapped, Henry looked behind you at the influx of sad hockey players, you whipped around, taking in their faces. “Oh, I’m sorry guys.” You gasped, Jamie nodding solemnly, when you turned back around Henry was walking off, not daring to give you a second look.
And then, if it couldn’t be worse, you looked to your left and saw Tyler standing there, not taking too long for him to figure out what happened. “Damn it!” He snapped, slamming his hand against the cement wall, you were there in an instant, surprised when he hugged you, hiding his face in your neck. “I’m sorry, Tyler, it’s not your fault.” You whispered, hearing the guys moving past you, they were suffering too. “Hey, look at me.” You demanded, leaning away from him, he looked at you with glazed over eyes, “you’re gonna go in there, and carefully put some clothes on, you’re going to take a minute to be with your team, and then you’re gonna come out here, and I’m gonna take you home. Everything’s going to be ok, Henry can go be a pain, I don’t care, as long as I know you’re ok.” You spoke sternly, but still had a softness in your voice. “Ok, baby, please. It’s going to be ok, I promise.” You whispered, he nodded slowly, kissing your forehead before forcing himself back into the locker room.
Finally, when he did re-emerge, he seemed to be in slightly better spirits, allowing you to take him home and stay with him.
Although, the next day you had to go back to your place, having to get ready for work, Tyler protested, milking his injuries for all he could get. “I’ll FaceTime you when the kids are napping, you’ll live, babe.” You had told him as you walked out the door, despite his whining from the couch. A man child, that was your conclusion.
When you got to the kids house, you were surprised to see them with the hockey channel on, your heart stopped for a moment as they were discussing Tyler’s injuries, of course, you couldn’t escape it. “Oh, Frank had it on last night, I didn’t even realize when I turned the tv on.” Julie spoke when she saw you looking at it, “oh, honey. What’s wrong?” She questioned, sensing your off mood as she finished cooking the kids breakfast, having a late start at her office today. “What? Nothing, I’m fine!” You assured her, the two of you had grown close, she was like an older version of you, it was nice, she really cared for you. She raised a brow at you, watching as you picked up Emily who was grabbing at your legs, you kissed the girls chubby cheek, smiling when she giggled, “Tyler Seguin,” you motioned to the tv, where somehow they were still replaying the hit, “that’s my boyfriend.” You told her, Steven shrieked. “You know Tyler!?” He shouted, a grin over his face, you weren’t sure how hockey hadn’t come up, but now that you think about it, Frank did have some stars items in his office. “I do.” You smiled down at the boy, Julie still processing it, “he’s a lucky man.” She finally spoke, sending you a smile when you blushed. “Hopefully he’s doing alright.” She added, “Frank played in college, I hated it.” She explained, seeing the way you were looking at her. Oh, “he’s alright, he’ll be back at it before you know it.” You laughed softly, Steven rambling off so many questions, apparently sharing his dads love for hockey.
“Steven, calm down honey.” His mother laughed, helping him climb into his chair at the dining table while you strapped Emily into her high chair, “I really have to be leaving for work, hopefully he doesn’t bug you too much about this new information.” Julie smiled, you waved her off, “it’s fine.”
And it was, truly, and while he was eating breakfast and rambling about hockey and asking you questions, to which you answered to the best of your availability, you had recorded a clip to show Tyler, of how excited Steven was. Which Tyler loved, and made sure to get some stuff for you to give him.
You walked into your apartment, hoping Henry had already left for work but when you saw his boots by the door you knew he hadn’t. “Y/N?” He rushed around the corner, you looked at him with wide eyes, “I’m sorry.” He mumbled, sheepishly, his face showing his regret, you hadn’t spoken to him in over a week. Ever since he found out about the two of you, “I should’ve reacted better, I mean, I should be happy that you’re dating such a good guy. Someone that I trust.” He rambled, you stayed silent, you were still angry, it hurt for him to so blatantly choose to be upset over supporting you. “Ok.” You sighed, and he stared at you blankly, “ok? All I’m getting is an ok? When you’re the ones who hid it from me?” He looked exasperated, “that’s all Tyler said too. You guys are insufferable.” Henry muttered, this peeked your interest. “Wait, you talked to him?” You questioned, finally shutting the door to the apartment. “Yeah, like three days ago, he said he wasn’t going to say anything else until I talked to you.” He looked at you skeptically when you started smiling like a fool. “Damn, you really do love him don’t you?” He sighed, shaking his head. “Just don’t kiss in front of me and we’ll be fine.” He gave in, laughing when you jumped on him in a hug. “Deal, deal, deal.” You grinned, happily rushing off to your room.
You dialed Tyler’s contact, his face popping up on your screen shortly after, “hi baby.” He grinned, only smiling more when he took in the happiness on your face. “Why are you so smiley?” He teased, you shrugged, “I talked to Henry…” you trailed off, and Tyler nodded, “Mhm, and how’d that go?” He hummed, you rolled your eyes, “I’m quoting him, ‘just don’t kiss in front of me and we’ll be fine’.” You mocked your brother's voice making Tyler laugh deeply. “It’s about damn time.”
A couple of days later you told all your friends after a game, and the two of you FaceTime Cassidy and Candace, they reacted much better than Henry, that’s for sure. Then you made it public by posting a photo on social media, the two of you smiling brightly, Tyler towering over you as he was still dressed in his skates, you were looking up at him with a goofy grin as he laughed at something Jamie had said. His arm around your shoulders and your hand resting on his chest.
“Who knew moving across the street would lead to all of this…”

Read on Ao3
You’re clearing up after dinner when the lights start to flicker. The mid-summer storm outside has been raging for the better part of an hour and shows no signs of slowing.
“Harry…babe!” you call, trying to catch your oblivious boyfriend’s attention. He was the one who insisted on moving into this Muggle house in a Muggle neighborhood powered by Muggle electricity. He should be the one to fix this.
“HARRY!” you bellow, as the lights flicker again.
“Bloody Merlin, what, Draco? Stop shouting!” he says, breezing into the kitchen as if your concern about the lights is entirely unfounded and you are overreacting...again.
You roll your eyes and fight a smile as he wraps his large hands around your hips, pushing you into the edge of the sink and trailing the edge of your jumper in the soapy water that’s escaped the basin.
You yelp when the lights flicker a final time before going off for good.
“What, love, afraid of the dark?” Harry teases against the nape of your neck.
You scoff and push him off, opening your mouth to retort before two tiny squeals reverberate from somewhere overhead.
“Oh, here we go..” you say, as two sets of small feet thunder down the stairs and through the sitting room. You wonder, for probably the millionth time, how two such small creatures can be so very loud. You were never that loud. Then again, if you had been, the consequences would have been... You’re secretly grateful for their noise.
“Dad, dad, dad, dad…”
“Scorpius, Scorpius, Scorpius, Scorpius…” you reply, scooping your son up into your arms.
“The lights have gone.”
“Have they? I hadn’t noticed,” you respond, drily, plopping Scorpius firmly back onto his feet.
“Careful, cub, stop running--you’re going to run straight into the table, or a wall…” Harry says, gripping Teddy by the shoulders to steady him in the dim kitchen. The only light comes from the streetlamp in the alleyway out back and the rapid flashes of lightning slicing through the sky.
“Harry...Scorp and I have just started on a Lego dragon, can you come light the lamps with your wand or something?” Teddy whines, tugging at Harry’s shirt like he’s two instead of twelve.
“Hmm...I have a better idea,’ Harry says. You recognize the look in his eyes, it’s the one that always precedes mischief.
“Scorp, you remember where we keep the marshmallows? Great, grab those...and the graham crackers!” Harry calls after Scorpius as he darts into the pantry.
“What are you up to?” you ask, poking a finger into Harry’s side.
“A time-honored Muggle tradition...you’ll like it, you’ll see.”
--
Harry insists you all forgo the perfectly good couches you spent days picking out and sit on the cushions he’s conjured on the sitting room floor. He arranges you in a circle around a conjured flame, floating in a shallow bowl.
“Mmm, we should turn the lights off more often, dad!” says Scorpius sliding several sticky fingers between his lips. He’s chosen to entirely ignore Harry’s careful s'more making instructions in favor of fitting as many charred marshmallows into his mouth at once as he can manage.
“Okay, okay, Scorp, take a breather, yeah?” you say, grabbing his hand and trying to clear the sugary cobweb from between his fingers with a napkin. “They’re never going to sleep, now, Potter, and I hold you solely responsible.”
“Come onnn, Draco, don’t be such a buzzkill!” Teddy groans around his own s’more, chocolate smeared around the corners of his mouth.
“Yeah, Draco, don’t be such a buzzkill!” Harry echoes. You glare at him as you respond to Teddy.
“Edward, I don’t know where you pick up these phrases, but I assure you I am not a buzzkill. I’d just like to get some sleep sometime this century.”
“Okay, okay, everyone shh…” Harry cuts in. “I’ve got a story for you.”
Scorpius wriggles on his cushion next to you, giddy from the sugar high and hanging on Harry’s every word. You place a hand on the top of his head to settle him.
Harry leans over the little conjured flame, shadows playing across his face and his eyes glinting behind his glasses.
“Once upon a time, there were two boys,” he begins, poking Scorpius in the tummy and setting off a cascade of giggles.
“Once upon a time,” he tries again, “there were two boys who were driving home from the movie theatre.”
“Who was it??” squeals Scorpius. “It’s me and Teddy, right??”
“Can’t be, Harry won’t teach me how to drive,” Teddy huffs.
“Ted, you’re twelve, twelve-year-olds can’t even get their permit…” you start.
“Ssssssshh…” Harry silences you with a raised hand. “Yes. One dark and stormy night, Teddy and Scorp were driving home from the movie theatre.”
“What film were we seeing? Was it Toy Story, Harry?” Scorpius whispers as if he’s trying to respect Harry’s request for silence but he desperately needs to know.
“Yes, love, it was Toy Story,” Harry whispers back. “So, Teddy and Scorpius decide to drive up to the top of a very tall hill overlooking the city.”
“Why?” asks Teddy.
“Why not, Ted, let him finish or we’ll be here till next weekend,” you scold, tossing a marshmallow that bounces off of Teddy’s nose. Teddy scoffs but pops the marshmallow into his mouth.
“As Teddy and Scorpius sit, taking in the beautiful view, an emergency news bulletin comes across the wireless.” Harry covers his mouth with one hand to muffle his voice and affects a newscaster’s cadence, “Breaking news, breaking news! A very dangerous convict has escaped from the local prison. We urge all citizens to be on the lookout, the man is missing one hand, and in its place he has….” Harry pauses for dramatic effect before leaning forward, hands raised, “a hook!”
“Coooooool…” interjects Teddy.
“Harry, where is this going?” you hiss as Scorpius climbs into your lap. Harry flaps the fingers of one hand at you dismissively, and you have half a mind to bite them.
“Harry, why does he have a hook instead of a hand?” Scorpius asks.
“I don’t know, Scorp, he had an accident.”
“And...the Healers couldn’t regrow his hand?”
“No, he isn’t a wizard so he can’t see the Healers.”
“Why is it a hook now, though?”
“Ummmmm, I don’t know. He thought it would be cool like Teddy does.”
“Oh.”
“Sshh, Scorp! I want to hear more about the guy with a hook for a hand!” says Teddy as he flicks Scorpius on the shoulder.
“Ow! You sssh, Ted, you’re the one who interrupted first!”
“Anyways,” Harry says firmly, planting his palms on his thighs. “The man on the radio tells everyone listening that they should alert the authorities immediately if they see a man with a hook for a hand. He’s a very dangerous murderer and won’t hesitate to kill anyone he encounters.”
“Wicked!” cries Teddy.
“One boy says to the other--”
“Scorpius and Teddy!”
“Yes, Scorpius says to Teddy: I don’t like the sound of that, we should probably go home!” Harry says, lowering his voice to a register far deeper than you’ve heard any five or twelve-year-old speak in. Scorpius just giggles and squirms about in your lap.
“Oh, don’t be silly, that man with a hook for a hand will never climb up this big hill!” Harry says, raising his voice about ten octaves. You wince as his voice cracks on the word never.
“Oi! I don’t sound like that!” objects Teddy. You hit him with another well-aimed marshmallow.
“JUST THEN,” Harry shouts across the giggling and shouting, causing everyone to fall silent, “both boys heard the faintest scratching noise just outside the driver’s side window...almost like...the sound of a hook...scraping across metal….” Harry waggles his eyebrows.
“OH NO! THE MAN WITH THE HOOK! HARRY!” Scorpius shouts, nearly bursting your eardrum.
“Scorp, for Merlin’s sake, don’t shout!” you say, wrapping your arms around his middle to urge him back to sitting. He stuffs one small fist in his mouth in what you know is a self-soothing gesture. Oh lord, you think to yourself, if the sugar doesn’t keep him up all night, the nightmares surely will.
Harry looks Scorpius dead in the eye before continuing in a high-pitched voice, “No way, Teddy tells Scorpius, even if it was the man with the hook, he can’t get in here the doors are locked!”
“Oh, yeah! The doors are locked!” Scorpius mumbles around his fist. Harry nods, but the firelight glinting off his glasses makes him look positively sinister.
“Yeah, Scorp, the doors are locked, calm down you big baby!” Teddy teases.
“Hey! You calm down, you big...jerk!” Scorpius fires back.
“Scorpius, what have I told you about calling people names?” you say, exasperated and ready for this whole charade to end. “Harry, is that the end of the story?”
“Oh no….ohhhhhh no, no,” Harry says, shaking his head and completely ignoring the unamused look on your face.
“You see,” he says, leaning in again and lowering his voice to a whisper. “When the two boys finally arrive home safe and sound, they step out of their car…”
“What…” Scorpius whispers back, fist firmly situated in his mouth.
“...they turn around to find….”
“Harry….” you say, warningly.
“A HOOK! HANGING FROM THE DOOR HANDLE!” Harry shouts.
What follows are possibly the most chaotic ten minutes of your entire life.
Scorpius shrieks and flails in your lap, overturning the bowl with the little conjured flame. The rug catches fire quickly.
Teddy starts chanting Harry’s name over and over and pointing at where the flames lick at the cushion he was just seated on.
You summon your wand, but Harry has his at the ready with a hastily muttered Aguamenti. The flames hiss as the water douses them, replacing the bright-hot fire with black smoke that has you all coughing into your sleeves.
You realize you’ve clutched Scorpius to your chest in a vice-like grip when he starts to pull at your sleeve and choke out, “Dad….dad! Let…me...go…”
“Sorry, Scorp...Ted, alright?”
“Yeah, why wouldn’t I be alright? That was wicked, Harry! Nice one, Scorp!”
You roll your eyes, despite your still-leaping heart and rapid breathing, and jump as the lights flicker back on. The boys both groan in disappointment, but Scorp has one fist clenched around your wrist and the other still stuffed between his lips.
“Alright...bedtime, pajamas...now!” you say, sternly. “If anyone has any nightmares, I’m sure Harry will be more than happy to sleep with you!”
Harry just grins at you like the insufferable bastard that he is.
“Next time, let’s just light some lamps and make a Lego dragon, yeah? Or better yet, fix the bl--fix the lights!” you hiss.

i’ll make the world safe and sound for you
jake has some important things to tell mac. (post 7x13)
read on ao3 -
Jake’s spent a lot of nights at the hospital over the years.
Eight years old, nursing a broken arm after Gina dared him to jump off the fire escape (she was the first to sign his cast). Drowsy on pain meds in Florida, recovering from a gunshot wound and a cruel six-month separation from his girlfriend. Most overnight visits have been an occupational hazard, a consequence of throwing himself headfirst into action without a second thought.
Jake doesn’t think he’d recognise that person now, the one who put being the hero and solving the case before anything else. He’s better off for it, knowing now that there is something so much better than flaming out in a blaze of spectacular glory.
Knowing the family he has found in the Nine-Nine. Knowing the life he’s built with Amy. And most recently, knowing the life he’ll be sharing with his newborn son. A whole other kind of spectacular.
This may be far from the first time he’s spent a night at the hospital, but never has he had a night like this one. Never has Jake felt this content, this overwhelmingly whole in his life. Never has his world shifted like this, changed forever at the piercing sound of his son’s first cries. Changed forever yet again the first time he held Mac in his arms.
Deep down he knows he should be resting, knows the adrenaline will wear off soon and that he’ll be pretty much useless for all of tomorrow. He knows that Amy would chide him if she wasn’t fast asleep beside him, something he’s very grateful for – she deserves all the rest she can get.
(She deserves a medal of valour, at least, for giving birth to the world’s most important baby in the precinct with no pain relief. He’ll see if Holt can pull a few strings.)
But Jake can’t bring himself to sleep just yet, knowing that his son is finally here and right beside him. He’s completely mesmerised by this kid, already addicted to marvelling at his chubby little cheeks and adorable round button nose.
Mac clearly can’t bring himself to sleep either, wiggling his little legs inside the blanket he’s swaddled in, and Jake’s heart trips, sparking a huge ridiculous grin. His tiny adorable little face scrunches a little in a way Jake instinctively knows means trouble, so he quickly shifts into Dad Mode.
“Hey there, buddy. It’s okay.” Slowly, he lifts Mac out of the bassinet and holds him close to his chest, bouncing a little awkwardly, but it seems to do the trick as his whimpers subside into the occasional peaceful snuffle. Jake breathes a sigh of relief, content that he’s officially eight hours into fatherhood and he hasn’t managed to screw anything major up yet. Mac seems more comfortable in his arms and it makes his heart swell with a pride he’s barely known before.
“Today’s been kind of a crazy day, huh? Think you’re gonna have to get used to those. Your mom and I tend to have a lot of them.” He glances at Amy, who is thankfully still completely conked out next to him, and the warmth in his chest envelops and encircles everything else. This family of his is magic.
“It’s okay though because we’re always going to come home to you. We love you so much.” His voice cracks a little as he cradles him gently, gently, because he’s holding his entire world, heart and in his hands, and that’s a lot to deal with at two in the morning.
“Y’know, I don’t think we’ve actually been properly introduced,” Jake says, exhaling a breathless little laugh at his own joke as he shakes Mac’s hand. “Hi, Mac. I’m your dad.”
He’s a dad now, and he’s going to be one for the rest of his life. He marvels at that as he gazes at his son, trying to memorise every adorable detail of his face. “Your mom let me choose your name – I hope you think it’s cool, because you were named after the coolest action hero of all time. I can’t wait to watch Die Hard with you, even though you’re gonna be way too little for it for a long while.”
It’s crazy how much time Jake’s already spent thinking about what Mac might be like when he’s older. His son has such a full exciting life ahead of him, and he’s just excited to be able to share all of his favourite things with him, like New York pizza and Star Wars and the best cop movie of all time.
“It’s okay, we’re gonna do lots of things in the meantime. Like play video games and build Legos and watch the Turtles and just hang out like we’re doing right now. And I’m always going to be there for you. Always. You’ll probably have to go to your mom for important life things and help with homework and stuff, because she’s super smart and I’m kind of a mess, but I’ll try my best.”
Mac gurgles a little at that, and it only just occurs to Jake that this conversation is more for him than it is for his son.
“You have absolutely no idea what I’m saying because you are a baby, and I respect that. But you are so loved, Mac. And I’m gonna tell you that and show you that every single day.”
He’s startled out of the moment by the sound of a phone camera shutter as Amy looks tearfully at them both. “Sorry, sorry. You guys are just too cute.”
“Make sure you get our good side.” Jake mumbles, pride washing over him as she laughs. He’ll never stop wanting to make Amy laugh. He absentmindedly hopes he’ll be able to make his son laugh, too.
Amy blearily snaps a few more photos and checks the time before shifting closer to them both, and he’s breathless again – she really is glowing in all her post-childbirth glory, though she’s always at least a bit glowy to him anyway.
It’s totally surreal, feeling his wife nestle into his shoulder as they both happily look at their son. It’s something he’s imagined for so long, yet infinitely more perfect now that it’s actually reality.
Jake yawns, and Amy briefly tears her eyes away from Mac to glance at him. “Have you been up all night? You should really try and sleep, Jake.”
“You need it more. And besides, I kinda can’t take my eyes off him. He’s perfect, Ames.”
“I know. He really is.” Her voice warbles with emotion and Jake knows what they’re both thinking – he was worth the wait, a million times over.
He carefully passes Mac over to Amy. After a revolving carousel of visitors earlier, it’s been a while since it was just the three of them, and an overwhelming sense of peace just washes over him watching his wife coo over their son.
His fears and doubts about fatherhood have not completely vanished – he’s still scared of making mistakes, of the responsibility he now has to the tiny amazing wonderful human currently cradled in his wife’s arms.
But all of the fear is muted now, pastel and pale in the early hours of the morning. It’s muted by the rise and fall of his son’s tiny chest. By the love alight in Amy’s eyes. By the way Holt had rested a hand on his shoulder and told him how proud he was. By his mom’s face as she’d held her grandson for the first time.
Mac’s penchant for a dramatic entrance doesn’t surprise him. What does is how much he already feels like a father, like he was made to protect this kid and will do absolutely anything to keep him and Amy safe. It’s not a feeling he’d be able to put into words after a restful eight hours of sleep, let alone now when he’s borderline delirious with joy.
So instead he presses a light kiss to the soft cotton hat on his forehead, delighting in the way Mac scrunches his nose exactly like Amy does. He’s never gonna get enough of this kid. And he’s certain, now more than ever, that this is the kind of precious love that only grows and grows.

40 through 50 for hawks x allie <3 no one requested him thats so sick and twisted...
++ id say do the entire thing but i won’t make you do that bc i actually dont hate you buuut anyways.
SDFSDJF okay <333
edit: i added a ‘read more’ but it isn’t working ;-; sorry to clog up your dash.
40. what are traits you have that would annoy/upset them?
tbh hawks is pretty laid back, i don’t see him getting annoyed a lot. buuuuut ig he wouldn’t like i have an awful sleeping schedule since my hc is that hawks is always up early. like he’s up at 6 am and i’m like lmao okay im going to get some rest HAHA
41. what are traits they have that would annoy/upset you?
in the very beginning, he’d be very closed off with his feelings. he’d feel he doesn’t deserve a normal relationship or that the hero public commission would eventually find out. so yeah i’d be a little annoyed at first by how guarded he is.
42. how often would you guys probably fight? what would they normally be about? would they be big or small?
about him not putting himself first. or about him cancelling dates because of his hero work. texts would be like: “sorry, can’t do tonight. something came up. / oh it’s okay / are you sure? / LMFAO ofc it’s not hope you crash into a lamppost. bye. / ... / jk but i do hope you step on a lego or sth. wake me up when you get home please” YEAH djsahdkj because i picture it’s not like... once in a while he gets work out of the blue, but the hero public commission is up his ass 24/7.
43. who would probably get sick more often? who would baby the other when sick? who acts like they’re dying when they get a stuffy nose?
me <3 i feel he’s the kind of guy that tries to ignore his symptoms bc of his work, so it’d have to force him to baby him when he’s sick. it’s v foreign for him. at the same time, he doesn’t know what to do when i’m sick he’s like ???? so i have to instruct him what i need him to do (which is mostly cuddle me while watching a movie). and none of us are dramatic about it haha.
44. who has the worst patience? does the other balance this out?
ooooooh, i feel he’s very collected but not because he’s patient but because he’s trained not to let his feelings show. i’m v patient myself so we’re kind of laid back about stuff.
45. which one suggests trips to stores at 3am?
mostly him. even if he wakes up at 6 am, he sometimes comes back from his patrolls at 2 or 3 am. i picture him waking me up and saying we should go get some ice cream. i’m up for it <3
46. who is a morning person? who is a night person?
hawks is a morning person bc he’s a bird. i’m a night person :P
47. out of the two of you, who would be the one to kill / get rid of the spider?
i have aracnophobia so <333 yeah he has to deal with them
48. who reminds the other of things? ( ex: appointments, tests, etc.)
i feel he has good memory for that kind of stuff due to his training, sooooo he’d be the one to remind me of the small stuff i tend to forget.
49. what is the pace of the relationship? ( ex: started dating after a few weeks, takes months/years, act couple like right off the bat, need time, etc?)
we were friends for a month or so, started making out for another couple of months and then one day while texting he refers to me as ‘his girl’ and it was his way of making things official. “so we’re still on for movies tonight? / yeah, wouldn’t want to miss the chance to see my girl / oooo, does that make you my man? / if you want to / my birdman* <3″ KJDHFKJDS sorry this turned out way too cute haha
50. who said the first “ i love you”? was it immediately reciprocated, or did the other person wait?
knowing how closed off he is, i’d refrain myself from telling him i love him first, bc i’d be scared he’d say he doesn’t feel the same. but one day, after laughing over some stupid shit, he looks at me while i’m trying to regain my breath and says: ‘i think i love you’. i smile and say: ‘i think i love you too’ <3
#lovely cae#thank you caaaaaae#writing these made me so happy like <33333#yes#hawks x allie is the OG ship#rfadaydreaming#allie answers

Pentababies - Pentagon in Kindergarten
Jinho:
Smol baby
Doesn't reach things on the top of the shelves but refuses to ask for help
Uses the toys to build a stepladder-like thing or just climbs up, doesn’t get discouraged when he falls down but stops to cry for a while
Loudly sings children songs all the time and teaches the others said songs
Actually, there is a designated time when everyone gathers around him and all the kids are singing
You're a little jealous of him because the kids listen to him more than they do to you
There’s this one teddy bear that’s bigger than him and he claimed it as his best friend
Is a good boy and eats everything but a look at his face tells the utter disgust he feels while chewing that broccoli and sometimes you just pity him and give him extra snacks after lunch
But also, he steals food from the others when they’re not looking
Hides stolen food and snacks in his pockets and eats them alone when nobody is looking
If someone tries to steal his food, he will bite their hands
Hui:
He’s either crying or screaming, he’s never quiet
Most screams are caused by him belting out children songs and folk songs and it took you a while to realize, he’s actually really good at singing
Runs around screaming with Hyojong and Shinwon while Hyunggu is clinging to him and has the time of his life everyday
You have to force him outside because “ugh sunshine and fresh air who needs that”
Has sooo much fun once he’s out
Cries when he trips and falls and acts like he’s actually dying, there is nothing you can do to make him stop
Eats fairly well but somehow, he always gets food all over his face and his shirt, it’s a mystery how he does that every single time, even when he wears a bib
Hongseok calls him dirty. Things escalate. A food fight begins.
Literally refuses to go to sleep because he is NOT tired AT ALL (said while rubbing his eyes) and puts up a real fight (which only results him ending up even more tired)
Falls asleep the moment his head hits the pillow
Hongseok:
He really is a good kid (at least he tries to be one)
Most of the time, he’s in the corner flipping through books alone or with Changgu
Experience tells you, when he’s with Changgu, they’re not really talking about the books and you’re very uneasy
Annoys the others with jokes and cries when someone tells him he’s not funny but he’s a “man” so holds back his tears and tries to come up with new ones
The smartest child
One day, he really got into lego and now he can build a whole ass spaceship and the coolest robots
There's no food he doesn’t like however, he likes to be clean and likes well-behaving at the table – something most of the others don’t really do...
Gets into food fights at least three times per week because he called out someone (mostly Hyojong) for eating like a pig
Loves, loves, loves playing outside, just running around with the others or pretending to be soldiers or pirates or secret agents
Collects big sticks and pretends they’re swords and challenges everyone to duels – won't let the loser live but cries when he loses
He falls asleep fast which is kind of surprising because he has his own little nap times during the day as well where he just lies down in a corner and sleeps for a while
More often than not, he wakes up with his face doodled on
Hyojong:
Your arch enemy.
Screams. He doesn’t have a reason. He just. Stands there and starts screeching.
Or runs around screaming
A very curious child
One day, he was curious to see what you were drinking. He drank your coffee. That was a nightmare.
Helps Yanan trying to escape
Teases Hyunggu because he thinks it’s funny how easily he cries
But if anyone else makes Hyunggu cry he’s gathering everyone and they beat up the little shit, nobody is allowed to hurt his friends
Loves playing outside a lot more than inside
Climbing on monkey bars are boring, he’s climbing on trees like a real baby monkey
Has scratches all over his body but rarely cries
Flirts with the moms and they think he’s an angel
Not only embarrasses you in front of your crush but curses at them and tells them you taught him the words
You can’t just get a lover, you would pay him less attention then
If he doesn’t like the food at lunch, he just stares at it before he gets the idea that if he can’t eat it, he should just throw it at Hongseok – cue to a food fight starting because it’s f u n
Is quite obedient to go to sleep and you just assume it’s because he tired himself out
But he’s not sleeping, he goes around and whispers in the other kids’ ear to try and get in their dreams or doodles on their faces, etc.
Wakes up Wooseok to help him draw on the others faces
Shinwon:
Scared child
On the first day, he was like “oh no people mom please don’t leave me here” but now he’s one of the loudest ones and all he does is scream then coughs because he screamed way too much and now his throat hurts
The victim of literally everyone’s pranks, like the whole kindergarten teamed up against him and he acts all dramatic like he’s all alone in this cold dark world
But then just starts throwing books and toys he knows will hurt if thrown to the others
Hates going outside because ugh bugs – steps on Hyunggu’s new bug buddies and makes Hyunggu cry
It's been a year since he goes to this kindergarten but if you think he won’t sit disappointed every single mealtime by the table because “this is not a hamburger” then you’re wrong
And you’re like, “this is a sandwich, it’s almost like a hamburger, please eat your food like the other good kids.”
Changgu repeats your sentence, Hongseok adds his own unwanted opinion, Hyojong throws a piece of bread at Hongseok, chaos erupts
Every year, a photographer comes to take a group picture – he and Hongseok strike some weird pose every single time, there’s no stopping them
Goes to sleep like a good child however, he hid snacks in his pillow and eats them in secret because he is definitely not sharing
Hyojong comes up to him and whispers in his ear. There’s a muffled scream. Shinwon joins them in doodling on the others faces.
Changgu:
The little shit that embarrasses you in front of your crush because he’s going to marry you when he grows up
And you can’t possibly be mad at him because he’s just so damn adorable
Always gives you gifts like drawings, toys, his food, flowers he found on the sidewalk
One time, he stole his mom’s jewelry and wanted to gift it to you...
Helps you set the table, gather the kids, scolds them right after you scold them, always tells you you’re right – he's like a baby parrot
Actually, he just wants you to compliment him because he basically lives off of compliments
He and Hongseok befriended each other by the bookshelf and now they’re memorizing stories which they lowkey force the others to play out
Organized a little theater every Friday where they show it to you
Now he’s in charge of choosing what to perform to the parents on special events
beats Hongseok in “sword duels” and laughs in his face then declares he’s the strongest man in this kindergarten – gets beat the next day and cries while Hongseok is laughing in his face
Is friends with everyone, lowkey hates half of his friends because they don’t appreciate him
Plans revenge every time he gets pranked but never has the courage to carry them out (though Yanan would be more than delighted to help)
Eats everything even if he hates it because then you’re going to be proud of him and pat him on the head and that fills him with power
Couldn’t be more enthusiastic to go to sleep because he’s always tired even if he seems energetic and it’s absolutely impossible to wake him up
His mom has to take him home while he’s still asleep a lot
Yanan:
Cries the moment his mom lets go of his hand and leaves
It took a while for him to get used to the new environment but the moment he stopped crying on the first day, Changgu grabbed his hand and showed him his favorite toys and now they’re best friends
A quiet child
Sometimes maybe even too quiet
You keep an eye on him because one day, you just assumed he’s quiet and the lady from the bakery at the end of the street brought him back
Ever since then, you caught him trying to escape several times
Plays well alone but doesn’t mind company, except if someone tries to take his toy – he doesn’t hesitate to hit them
If it’s time to play outside, he runs straight to the swings – one time, Changgu wouldn’t let him to the swings and Yanan pushed him out of it
Both of them cried for an hour while hugging each other after that...
Really, everyone just loves him because he’s too cute
Lunchtime is problematic for him because he just loves sweets way too much and doesn’t want to eat proper food, especially vegetables
You have to convince him to eat them by promising him more sweets as dessert
One time, he got sugar high and it was a catastrophe so now you control how much sweets he gets
Which is very difficult because if he doesn’t get them whenever he craves them, he throws a tantrum
He gets very sleepy after eating so it’s easy to put him to bed however, he can’t fall asleep alone, someone needs to hold his hand
Yuto:
He is supposed to be a calm kid but you still keep an eye on him because either Hyunggu or Wooseok are constantly clinging on him (sometimes both on both sides of him)
Hates nap times because you close the curtains and the room gets dark and he’s very afraid in the dark
Only can fall asleep if someone (mostly Wooseok) is holding his hand
Every single stuffed animal belongs to him!
He named every single one of them
The type of kid that notices when you’re sad and tries to cheer you up by giving you a plushie
He’s like a fairy, going around giving out plushies to whoever is crying and hugging them until they calm down
Loves nature and he, Hyunggu and Wooseok built a bird feeder to take care of the birds in the neighborhood
Collects pretty stones and flowers and he got so excited when you showed him how to dry flowers so he can take them home and help his mom decorate the house
There is only one plushie that’s not his and that’s Jinho’s bear and he only lets him have it in exchange of Jinho giving him extra lessons on children songs
He eats everything because he believes it when you say he will grow up big and strong if he eats all the vegetables
Whenever there’s a food fight, he makes sure his plushies won’t get dirty and takes his plate and moves out of the danger zone
His bed is so full of plushies he barely has any space left for himself but if any of them goes missing, he will notice it + Wooseok and/or Hyunggu still find a way to crawl in his bed and cuddle
Hyunggu:
The cutest child, an actual angel (kind of)
Cries. A lot. Like all the time.
Cries because the dragon kidnapped the princess in that fairy tale you’re reading, cries because Hyojong took his toy, cries because the others are teasing him for crying, cries because he has nobody to hug, cries because he doesn’t like the food, cries because he misses his mom, etc.
Someone has to pay attention to him all the time or he throws a tantrum
Is constantly attached to someone, just hugging and refusing to let go because that’s how he plays
Can't sit still for the world, you swear he didn’t consume any sugar where does he get so much energy from????
Accidentally breaks toys and blames it on other children then cries because he can’t deal with the guilt
Kisses everyone because he has so much love to give but whenever someone kisses him, he gets offended and disgusted – the others keep kissing him for that exact reason
Running towards a dog that’s twice his size and obviously barking at him aggressively: “pUPPYYYYY~~!!!!”
Likes to play outside and makes friends with all the bugs, follows ants, chases butterflies, feeds birds etc.
Jumps into every single puddle after a rainy day and encourages everyone to do the same because it’s F U N !!!!!!!!!
Has absolutely no fear but cries whenever he trips and falls
Gets himself out of eating stuff he doesn’t like or doing things he doesn’t want to do by pouting and the puppy eyes because you just CAN’T SAY NO to him
Sticks out his tongue at the others when they get offended for him getting better food a g ai N
He picks a cuddle buddy for every day and only sleeps if he’s hugged (the other boy doesn’t have a say in this)
Wooseok:
Tol child
Puts Jinho’s favorite toys on the top of the shelves to mess with him
A creative boy who loves drawing – sadly, rarely draws on paper
Doodles on the walls until Hyojong directs his attention to Hongseok’s sleeping face
After a while, the kids realize he really draws well so now they’re playing “tattoo salon” in which Wooseok draws on their skin – this is an illegal business and they’re very careful not to get caught by you
He and Hyojong are the ones to intimidate anyone who tries to bully their friends and nobody dared to mess with their group twice
Sometimes you can’t find him no matter how many times you call his name and an hour or so you find him either sleeping in a closet or buried under Yuto’s plushies
He’s a smarter kid than you think, also very helpful
Shouts at the others to stay quiet if you have something to say and they don’t listen
Takes no shit and questions everything
Criticizes the fairy tales, tells fairies and dragons don’t even exist – that made everyone cry
He only pretends Santa is real because Yuto will cry for days if he said otherwise and he couldn’t bring himself to do that to him
Goes outside only to lie down on the slide and never get up, laughs as the others try to push him down
Will not eat what he doesn’t like and there is absolutely nothing that can change his mind, he rather starves (read: begs Jinho for food or steals Shinwon's snacks)
He pretends to go to sleep but then stays up all the time pranking the others with Hyojong so that’s why he sleeps so much during the day
Has his no prank days when he’s cuddling with Yuto and/or Hyunggu

Guiding Light - Christmas Special #3
A/N: Hi Sheerios!! This is the 3rd part (of 4) of our Christmas Special for Guiding Light! There’s a little bit of insecure reader on this, but won’t be the main focus, I promise… Oh, and this is the longest chapter of this special! Next one will be super special, and funny; I’ll be posting it tomorrow, ‘cause now I need to sleep, it’s 1:30am here, and I’m a bit tired. Hope you enjoy your reading, I love you and your support! Oh, and as in Lego House, I thought it would be a nice idea to add your nicknames in Guiding Light as well, because Ed and the reader are in a long relationship already, it’d make them even more intimate, what do you think? I’ll add that in the regular chapters from now on, it’s just a detail I wanted to share with you!
Title: Guiding Light Chapter Title: Christmas Special: First Christmas #3 Pairing: Ed Sheeran x Reader Rating: +18 Word Counter: +2800 Warnings: insecure reader
These are the warnings for the regular chapters, if you get interested on this extra!
younger reader (though ther’s no mention of her age), low self esteem, stretch marks, virgin reader, a bit of angst/anxiety due to her first time, fluffy, careful Ed, sweet Ed, encouraging Ed, mature content, NSFW, smut, oral sex {both receiving}
var Mariana = prompt("What's your name?","Example: Ana, Taylor, Emma...")
var Mari = prompt("Do you have a nickname? Please, what is it?","Example: Tay, Bella...")
December 24th, 2018 - Christmas Eve, Framlingham
“Are you ready, love?” Ed knocks on his bathroom door and you jump on your feet, looking at yourself in the mirror; oh, no, you’ve got the most frightened expression you’ve ever seen! ‘Don’t be ridiculous, document.write(Mariana), you can do that!’ you speak with yourself, breathing in and out slowly.
C'mon, they’re just Ed’s friends, your boyfriend’s friends, including his two perfect ex-girlfriends, from what you’ve hear about the guests list. You sigh, looking at the mirror again, you shouldn’t have picked this dress, you would have never picked this dress, but your momma insisted so much! And now you’re looking like a weird Mrs. Claus with your reddish-embarrassed face to match!
You look down at your feet, oh, these freaking heels! Your momma made you pick them too, and you regret have picked them even more than the dress!
“Baby, is everything alright?” Ed knocks on the door once more, and you fear he’s starting to get impatient with you. “Just a minute, Ed, I promise!” you look at your cosmetics at his sink counter, deciding which lipstick you’d put on: red or nude? Your eye makeup is not too light nor too dramatic, so, any of them would look pretty fine on your face “Oh, shit!” you groan, irritated. “Baby, what is it?” he asks and you sigh, frustrated, opening the door.
“OH, wow, baby!” he roams his eyes over your body and you pull the hem of your dress down, trying to cover your thighs better, even you’re wearing pantyhose, ‘cause you don’t want to feel cold, you still feel too much exposed “You look so gorgeous!” he smiles at you, cupping your face with both hands tenderly.
“Thank you, you look incredible too!” you say, blushing at his words. He’s wearing the Hogwarts Castle sweater you gave him a few days earlier because you couldn’t keep your anxiety to yourself, so you gave him his present before the time. “Thank you, love!” he giggles, pecking your lips and you remember you have to put some colour on them.
“So, what do you think, red or nude?” you ask him, showing him the two options of lipstick on his sink counter. He seems quite confused “Are you examining me? Is that one of the questions girls make to know if they’re dating a sexist guy?” now he seems concerned.
“What?” you giggle, frowning and confused, where does he come from with this kind of theory?
“I mean, if I choose the nude, then you may say it’s because I find red lipstick a ‘slut thing’, which is the most absolutely untruth!” his eyes widen and you shake your head “Of course I wouldn’t think so low about you, Ed!” you caress his cheek and he relaxes a bit “I just wanted your opinion, that’s all. I can’t decide which of them would be better with this look and makeup”.
“Well, I think you’d look amazing with any of them!” he shrugs, smiling at you. “Oh, thanks for your help!” you joke, rolling your eyes and he giggles “You asked for my opinion, didn’t you?” Ed wiggles his eyebrows and you sigh “Alright, I think I know what I’m gonna do!” you smile at your reflection, putting on the red lipstick and then the nude over it, mixing them and creating a new colour, with a fancy reddish shade.
“So, what do you think?” you turn around to face your boyfriend, who grins. “Even better!” Ed winks at you, offering his right hand, which you gladly take so he can guide you out of the room. “TEDDY, MY PURSE!” you scream as he walks you downstairs quickly, not even stopping at his bedroom for you to grab your belonggings “Oh, fuck!” he groans “Sorry, love!” he runs upstairs and you pray that your clumsy boy won’t fall!
“This one, right?” he swings your small black purse at the top of the stairs and you nod. In a few seconds, he’s back, beside you, and he holds your hands as you walk to his car “Ready for tonight, baby?” Ed asks, and you gulp, nervous, but as there’s nothing else you could do, you nod again, trying to push away your fears of not getting along well with his friends. What would you do if they don’t like you?
You also try to ignore the fact his exes will be there too, you had already made your mind up that you’ll do your best of this weird situation, you won’t let Ed down nor push yourself too far; all you’ve gotta do is to find the balance between these both situations and enjoy your first holidays with your boyfriend the best way you can!
Ed drives you to a pub a few miles from his house. He pulls over the car and opens the door for you, like the true gentleman you know he is. You grab his arm as he helps you to get out of the car and you walk into the pub.
Ed’s got a hand gently laid on the small of your back, and he smiles, waving at a man seated at a table in the farest corner of the place. You hold your breath, anxious as he guides you there; he caresses your waist when noticing you’re tensed “You okay, love?” he stops at the middle of the pub, making you both receive curious looks from the people around. Have they recognised him? “Yes!” you nod, wanting anything but to get people’s attention “Just a bit anxious, I guess. Let’s go!”.
He smiles sweetly at you “They’ll love you, don’t worry!” pecking your lips, - and leaving your cheeks flushed because of that - he takes your hands in his and you start walking again. “Hey, mates!” Ed grins at his friends, who stand up to compliment you.
“Teddy!” a tall guy - alright, almost everyone is taller than you - approaches your boyfriend and they hug each other. “Hi, Zak, it’s really good to see you!” Ed says, patting is friend back “This is document.write(Mariana), my girl. document.write(Mariana), this is Zak, one of my best friends!”.
“Wow, Ed, she’s really beautiful, how did you get her, man?!” Zak jokes, making you blush more “It’s really nice to finally meet you, document.write(Mariana)!” he smiles at you. “It’s nice to meet you too, Zak!” you say, timidly, shaking his hand.
“Alright!” Ed sighs, gesturing to his other friends “That one is Dan, beside him is Josh and Nic! The girls are…” he gulps, nervous looking from Alice to Cherry, they need no introductions to you, and you wonder if his reaction has anything to do with him still having feelings for them - specially Cherry, who is his most recent break up “Well, they’re Alice and Cherry. Guys, this is document.write(Mariana), my girlfriend!”.
You shake your hands with them, a bit uncertain if you’d be well accepted by the girls, but they act ‘normal’, or the most normal they could. Alice seems less uncomfortable with the whole situation, it’s been a long time since her and Ed broke up, after all.
Everyone orders your drinks and starts talking, like the old friends they are, and you feel a bit dislocated for not having lived your childhood or teenage years with them; they have so many memories together! “Yeah, okay, I’m living the live I’ve always wanted!” Ed raises his hands, surrendering himself as they talk about University and their careers.
“And your girl, what does she do for a living?” Zak asks, looking at you. “I’m an editor at a book company in London” you answer, feeling your cheeks burning when everyone else turns their attention to you; you just hate to be the in the focus of attention.
“Huh, so you’re a good reader, just like the girls here?” he smiles, motioning the girls with his hand. “More than a good reader, man, she’s an editor” Ed grins at you, his eyes glowing with the pride he takes in you. You can’t help smiling at him either, he’s so cute and such a support of your skills.
“You look great together!” Alice says, looking at you both. “Thank you!” Ed smiles “And how is your fiancé, is he alright?” you get surprised with this new information. You didn’t know she is in a relationship.
“He’s pretty good!” she answers with a smile “He’s with his family in Manchester, he’s granny isn’t that good, so he thought it would be better to spend the holidays with her”.
“Yes, he’s right!” Ed nods, and then looks at Cherry, you get tensed with the way they’re gazing at each other, almost like if there are still strong feelings between them. Would that be possible? They’re smiling sheepishly and you excuse yourself and go to the toilet.
Sighing, you look at your reflection in the mirror, trying, unsuccessfully, not to compare yourself with Ed’s exes; you’re nothing like them, you wonder why Ed picked you, you wonder if, after this night he will realise you are a mistake in his life, that he should have chosen another girl, any other one, maybe even one of his exes.
You blink a few times, avoiding the tears from falling down your face, you breath in and out slowly, getting ready to be kicked out of his life, you are as certain as tomorrow is Christmas Day, that, until the end of the night you’ll be single again. You open the toilet door, shocked when you see Ed standing there, waiting for you.
“I took too long? Sorry!” you try to force a smile. “No, it’s just, that, I know it’s not being easy for you, you may be feeling a bit dislocated, but I wanted to thank you for being here tonight!” he cups your cheeks, gently stroking your skin “It means the world to me! You are my world!” he grins, and his eyes, oh, his eyes are melting on yours, and the way he spoke to you, so truly, genuine; you know there is no reason to be insecure, you know he loves you, that he’s here for you!
And Ed leans into you, kissing your lips softly; he giggles on your lips, and you relax even more when he holds your hand, squeezing it gently, and you understand that as an assurement you are the girl he wants beside him.
“Thank you for allowing me to be part of your life!” you whisper, wrapping your arms around his waist. “You are the best part of it!” he chuckles, giving your lips small and quick pecks, making you giggle.
“Hey, Teddy, document.write(Mariana), come here, the drinks are on the table!” Zak smirks, gesturing to both of you. “Let’s go?” he asks and you nod “And we don’t have to be here for too long, we shall drink a bit and then go to my parent’s as we finish, alright?”.
“Sure, the Christmas Dinner with your family!” you agree, holding his hand and you walk back to the table.
(…)
“Bye, Teddy, it was great to see you, and it was amazing to meet you, document.write(Mariana)!” Zak kisses your hand and you smile at his sweetness. “Thank you, Zak, the same!”.
“Hey, hey! Stop gallanting my girl, mate!” Ed pats his shoulder and you all laugh “Merry Christmas, bro!”.
During and after your meal, you got along with everyone a little bit easier and started to feel comfortable enough to tell them more about yourself. You assumed Ed got quite impressed with you, as you’re not that talkative; his friends, though, are pretty nice nad now you can nearly consider them your own!
You and Ed say goodbye and wish 'Merry Christmas’ to the rest of them, and get into his car “Did you enjoy tonight?” he asks, anxious. “I really did!” you smile and he sighs “I was afraid you’d feel too out of place!”.
“I did, at the beginning, but I ended up getting used to your friends!” you giggle when he looks at you relieved. “Good, did you like them?”.
“Of course, I did! They’re your friends!” you peck his lips. “Alright, my parents, now?” he asks and you nod. “Rush a bit, Teddy, it’s almost midnight!” you joke and he laughs.
(…)
“Three minutes!” Ed groans, pulling the car over and you try not to laugh at his irritated face; he’s not that good with angry expressions, he always ends up looking like a upset kitten, instead of a pissed off man. He apparently had forgotten you had to stop by his farm to pick the gingerbread man and sugar cookies you’ve spend the day making before you go to his parent’s. And because of that, you almost arrived too late!
You get out of the car and try to run to the front porch and protect yourselves from the snow, but, as the well coordinated woman you are, and, the heels you’re wearing to help, you fall on the - you’re glad for it now - snowish ground. “Baby, are you okay?” Ed asks, worried, immediately pulling you up on your feet. Luckly, he was the one carrying the cookies!
“Yes!” you smile, embarrassed, feeling your cheeks burning. “Are you hurt?” he starts removing the snow from your back and hair quickly, so it won’t melt and get you wet.
“No, the snow cushioned my fall!” you admit and he sighs, relieved. “Two minutes, Teddy!” you grab his wrist, looking at his watch. He holds you firmly as you walk to his parent’s front door.
Ed rings the doorbell, and his grandma opens the door, a beautiful smile on her face “Ed, document.write(Mariana)! Finally!” she steps back so you can get into the house. She hugs her grandson tightly and then you; she always amazes you with her ability of making you feel part of the family, even you and Ed being dating for less than a year.
You walk into the living-room, and there you find Ed’s parents, Matt, his brother and his grandfather, Stephen, too. You both compliment them quickly, as the midnight comes.
“Merry Christmas!” you say, wrapping your arms around Ed’s neck. “Merry Christmas!” he whispers, holding you tight against his body and looking deeply into your eyes “I love you!” he smiles, pressing the tip of his nose on yours and you giggle before he kisses you tenderly.
You’re so glad you have him; you thank God for bringing a light into your world, he, Ed, is your light; he’s the man you love and the one who loves you back in a way you’d never imagine to be possible.
Raising your hand to his smooth ginger locks, you smile in his lips, happy for spending such a special date with a guy even more special “I love you too!” you say once he’s broken the kiss, grinning at him, the man, the love of your life, who is grinning back at you, his beautiful blue eyes glowing with the sight of you, and you feel yourself blushing that usual and soft shade of red to which he tilts his head, that cute little kitten look you adore on his face.
“Thank you for everything, these six months have been the best of my life!” he says in a low tone and you agree with him. “I must say the same!”.
“Hey, document.write(Mariana), time for the angel!” your brother-in-law calls you, and you frown, looking from him to your boyfriend. “Oh, it’s just to put the angel on the top of the tree!” Ed says, but you’re still confused.
“We want you to put it there, sweetheart!” Imogen says with a smile, bringing a glass angel “You are part of our family and it’s the most important decoration of the tree, we want you to feel welcomed!” she gives you the angel to which you look at, mesmerized.
“This…” you gulp when your eyes start getting wet “Thank you so much!” you look at Ed’s family, your family so happy and glad you’re finally fitting in! Ed’s got a sweet smile on his face as he grabs a stool, putting it beside the tree.
You take your heels off, not wanting any other accident and you climb up on the stool. Getting on your tip toes, you feel a strong pair of hands - Ed’s hands - holding your waist as you put the little angel on the tree.
Then you get off the stool and step back, looking at the big tree in the room, realising the meaning of your actions, they have accepted you, and besides you not having the same surname, that’s the true meaning of the Christmas: union, celebration and, the most important, family.
And apart from your own parents, you are happy to have this new family too, you see this almost like a prediction of the future; you can picture a few years from now, you and Ed, with your own family, maybe two or three red-headed children helping the both of you to put up the tree, the way they would react when they found the presents 'Santa’ left for them during the night… You can just pray and hope this will actually happen!

cool so bc kai and nya have basically adopted lloyd as a younger brother here's some shitty sibling headcannons based off True Actual bullshit my 2 younger siblings and i do (tag as green/flame and i'll fucking maul you):
the Most Absurd sibling deals fucking. ever. kai asks nya to take out the trash for him and nya brings up when she ran his patrol 3 months ago and when she bought him a sprite so kai ends up taking out the trash and doing the dishes for her
nya steals food from both of them near nonstop and half the time they dont even notice. mfer is stealthy
if u try to steal food from her tho? ur fucked say goodbye to ur hand
all of them r needlessly dramatic abt small injuries (esp lloyd) but nonchalant abt big injuries (SUPER esp lloyd). the rest of the team is gonna kill them
Conflict Escalation
kai: nya fuck off or i’ll kick you in the shins!
nya, dead fucking serious: try it and i’ll kill you
the endless contest to stack things on lloyd while he’s sleeping (usually goldfish) and its twin, stick things in kai’s hood while ur walking behind him
once fr christmas nya gave lloyd a nerf gun and accidentaly started the Great Nerf War on the bounty
lloyd shot everyone non fucking stop til kai snapped and got a nerf gun of his own to combat him
eventually it spread and all six of them got nerf guns. no one was safe. the whole bounty became a war zone for weeks
(finally zane stole and hid all the nerf guns to end it)
dead dad jokes like you would not fucking believe (at least between s4 and s7), which lloyd is so fucking grateful for cause kai and nya basically teach him tht coping w grief is 10% emotional shit and 90% jokes (zane and cole get in on it all the time too cause jays the only one that actually has 2 living parents)
kai listens to. the worst music and nya and lloyd will never let him live it down
lloyd: kai we are not letting you pick the music all you listen to is mumford and sons and that weird punk band
kai: what! no! just this morning i was listening to johnny cash!
nya: kai thats even worse
nya will do anything you dare her to do, no matter how gross. the most famous instant of this is when kai dared lloyd to drink lemon juice and while they were arguing about how much kai would pay lloyd if he did it, nya walked by and fucking downed the whole thing without even making a face. this is when everyone on the bounty realized just how fucking powerful Nya Goddamn Smith is
lloyd is The Baby Sibling and always will be. this is a blessing and a curse
on one hand he can get away with just about anything
on the other hand nya and kai do not give one fuck that he is the green ninja they can boss him around as much as they want and they dont have to do one (1) thing he says cause You’re the Baby, Lloyd
god the fucking. ultimate sibling attack where u karate chop ur sib in the stomach while they’re lying down and it’s instant death? yeah. thats fucking brutal with these three. none of them ever lie down w/ out their arms covering their stomach they know what’ll fucking happen
acting like a pretty tame insult was the saddest thing you ever heard (lloyd does this so much)
kai: lloyd you’re a dumbass
lloyd, sounding heartbroken: what about it??
in the same vein, the classic compliment/insult pair
kai: lloyd, i love you and you are very kind, but youre dumb as rocks
these three would literally kill for each other but also nya started throwing almonds at lloyd when he fell asleep on the couch during lego cake boss and threatened to knock him out herself if he didnt go up to sleep immediately and kai responded by throwing grapes at lloyd from the other side of the room
#ninjago#lego ninjago#ch: lloyd garmadon#ch: nya smith#ch: kai smith#i s2g this is all actual bullshit we do#siblings r dumb#whoops this is p long

Given Unsought, Part 3
Jemma came back from Maveth with a little something in tow. She and Daisy attempt to deal. Part 1, 2
A/N: hey, all! Welcome to part 3! Daisy and Jemma have a heart to heart about consequences of Jemma’s choices, and a little trio bonding over horror movies is had. This is the last part of the first trimester, which according to the websites is when all the morning sickness typically happens. Canon-compliant warnings apply. Rated PG-13, 3912 words.
Week Ten
Part and parcel of surviving life in the Playground, with their rooms stacked like Legos and the walls thinner than the shell around Hunter’s masculinity, meant developing a knack for finding spots to be alone, and for avoiding others who wanted to do the same. As Mack put it, sometimes quality alone time at SHIELD meant pretending not to see the other fifteen agents brooding in the room with you.
Daisy had her spots. The lounge on sublevel C that smelled like old man and shoe polish. The mess hall on Tuesday afternoons. Fitz and Simmons’ lab when they had assays to be run downstairs. And as a courtesy, she left others alone to brood—with the exception of Fitz. She needed a scapegoat to make her watch those horror movies that would invariably keep her awake, and whatever, Fitz brooded way too much anyway. She left Hunter to his sulks, Bobbi to her pensive reverie, and Mack to his philosophical musings. If May’d had a brooding spot before she left, well, Daisy had never found it, but no way would Daisy have ever disturbed her. There was a woman who believed in “me time,” and Daisy could respect that.
But now Daisy broke all her rules and picked her way through the hydraulic supports for the hangar doors, careful not to step anywhere that would make Mack sigh at her. She had two brown bottles dangling from her left hand and a determined look in place.
“Hey,” she said.
Jemma, who’d been staring at her feet rather than the clear skies overhead, looked up swiftly. A smile appeared. “Daisy. You found me.”
“Should’ve disabled the cameras if you were gonna give the warden the slip. Here.” Daisy held out one of the bottles. “Got you the closest thing to beer you can have.”
“Just because it has the word ‘beer’ on the label does not actually make it similar, I must point out.”
Daisy took a seat, grimacing as the cold immediately ate through her jeans. She could see a comm unit, no doubt “borrowed,” resting by Jemma’s knee, which would warn her of any incoming or outgoing quinjets and allow her time to get out of the way of the doors. But apart from that, it was a peaceful spot for quiet reflection. Nobody would think to look atop the Playground, and it held a really pretty view of the stars. The November wind was particularly cutting tonight. Daisy wished she’d grabbed cocoa instead of root beer, even if it would’ve made climbing more difficult.
Carbonation hissed as she cracked open her bottle of root beer. She tapped it against Jemma’s. “Feels like all those times we used to sneak Ward’s beers on the Bus.”
“Mm-hmm. He hated that.”
“Good.”
Jemma traced her finger along the edge of the bottle label. “You could’ve brought a beer for yourself. There’s no need to abstain simply because I am.”
“Drinking beer when you can’t is cruel, Simmons.” Though she would have preferred it. The root beer was too sweet, cloying and sticky and cold. “Solidarity, sister.”
“I notice this noble sacrifice doesn’t extend as far as your morning coffee.” Jemma bumped her shoulder against Daisy’s, smirking.
Daisy grinned back at her. “It’s better for everyone if I don’t give up my morning coffee. Morale plummets, things get shaky, you know.”
“You could try going to bed at a reasonable hour.”
“Too sensible. Coffee’s easier and bonus, it doesn’t judge me for my sleep cycles.”
“Fair.” Jemma sighed. “I dreamed about coffee in the other dimension.”
Daisy raised her eyebrows.
Fond exasperation laced a second sigh from Jemma. “Very well. I’ll confess: I dreamed about tea. Brewed in a proper, actual kettle—”
“Someday you’ll have to tell me about the microwave that hurt you, to make you hate them so much.”
“—at just the right temperature, and steeped to absolute perfection. A dollop of milk. The taste, the warmth. The caffeine.” Jemma rested her head back, her eyes closed like she was dreaming of it then, too. “After hugging Fitz, and you, and Coulson, and everybody, it was going to be the first thing I did. Brew myself a proper cuppa and drink it at the window, basking in proper sunlight.”
Daisy’s lips curled up. She’d seen Jemma do exactly that on countless mornings on the Bus. “Sounds like a good dream.”
“It was. I’ve had every part of it but the caffeine now.” Jemma set the root beer aside without drinking any. She let out a long breath and rubbed her hands down her thighs. “I’m ten weeks along.”
“Congratulations,” Daisy said slowly, suspecting this might be why Jemma had come up to the roof in the first place.
Jemma surprised her by leaning over and resting her head on Daisy’s shoulder, not saying a thing. She rarely initiated contact first, and it was usually only a hand pat or a hug. But it felt like a storm might be brewing deep inside, and all of the words kept quiet in the past four weeks might come spilling out. She’d been back a month and the only person she’d really talked to, it seemed, was Dr. Garner. With May and Hunter still gone, Jemma quiet, Coulson obsessed with Rosalind Price, and Fitz buried in portal calculations, it had been a very odd and disconnected time for Daisy. She wrapped an arm around Jemma.
“Is ten weeks significant?” she asked. “Confession: I haven’t read the books yet. I mean, I started, but maybe Bobbi had a point about me never reading.”
“It’s near the end of the first trimester. The books cautioned about waiting to tell others until after the ten-week mark had passed,” Jemma said, her voice dull. “Well, ten to twelve weeks. The chances of a miscarriage decrease significantly then. So it’s prudent to wait just in case it didn’t take. To avoid awkwardness and painful reminders.”
“Did you even want kids?” Daisy asked, as she’d never really had that sort of conversation with anybody on the team. Growing up in the system, kids were such a weird subject. She liked them, and babies were cute, but the whole motherhood thing felt strange and ill-fitting to her. Possibly because she’d been taken from her own mother, and the woman had turned out to be kind of a vampire.
It was bound to leave a mark.
“Someday, I did,” Jemma said. “In the distant future. I’m a scientist, with plans. I have goals. I’m not—I’m not careless. There was supposed to be a proper order. I’d meet someone, fall in love, an acceptable amount of time would pass, they would propose or I would, and then a wedding, time to be married as adults enjoying each other. I’d be running a proper lab, by then, and writing groundbreaking papers in my field. Then, and only then, children.”
“Equal-opportunity proposals? Very forward of you.”
“I’m a strong woman, Daisy, I know my own mind.”
“It’s one of my favorite things about you,” Daisy said, letting out a laugh without meaning to. Jemma wrinkled her nose at her. “I’m a little bit in awe of you for even having a plan. I can’t even figure out what I’m having for breakfast when I wake up in the morning.”
“You’ve got other admirable qualities.” Jemma’s voice grew quiet and impossibly small. “It wasn’t supposed to happen this way.”
“You have options, you know. Whatever you choose to do, I’ve got your back. And nobody will judge you, whatever choice you make.” Daisy took a sip of her root beer, which definitely hadn’t improved. She added, “Unless you name him Alistair. Then I’ll judge.”
“Hey! I have an uncle named Alistair and I’ll have you know he’s a lovely man.”
“Them’s the breaks,” Daisy said.
“Oh, Daisy.” Jemma shook her head, finally lifting it off of Daisy’s shoulder. She didn’t pull away, so Daisy could feel the tension rippling up her shoulders. “I don’t think I want to…not what you’re suggesting. What if Will never makes it back and this baby is all that’s left of him?”
“And what if he does come back and he wants nothing to do with it? You’re the one here and now, you have to make the choice that’s right for you and that’s right for this baby. I saw so many kids that their parents didn’t care, or didn’t take them into account and they ended up in those homes, just like me.” The words came tumbling out before Daisy could stop them. She swallowed hard and shut up, mostly because if she kept talking, she suspected her voice might break.
Jemma grabbed her hand. “It wouldn’t be like that, ever, if I have this child. I wouldn’t be doing that out of a sense of obligation, and I wouldn’t leave the child without backups in place.”
“Right. You’re right. Sorry for even suggesting—”
“No, Daisy, no, you’re completely in the right.” Jemma grabbed her hand. “It’s a sore subject, I have to figure.”
“A little.” Daisy’s laugh was humorless. “And in the end, it turns out that I’m one of the rare cases. My parents did want me. But…is it too flippant to say ‘shit happens?’”
“Sore subject,” Jemma said again. “I don’t know if I want—actually, no. What I mean to say is that it doesn’t feel real, even though I’ve seen the tests. But now ten weeks have passed and I have to make choices. I was hoping it would feel real by now.”
“Choices?”
“I’ll need to decide my future with SHIELD. Less fieldwork, obviously, and I’ll need to reduce my working hours dramatically. I don’t think Agent Coulson would approve a crèche, not with how dangerous things get in the Playground, so naturally I’ll need to look into that eventually.”
Daisy made a mental note to look up what a crèche was.
“Bobbi will need to step up and take over more of my responsibilities in the field.” Jemma was fully rambling now, lost in her own thoughts. She tilted her head. “And of course I’ll need to prepare Fitz so he accepts that, and my moving out of the Playground.”
“Wouldn’t he just go with you?” Daisy asked, baffled.
Jemma frowned. “Why would he—oh! We’re not together. We went—he took me to a restaurant right after I came back, and it was…” She blew out a breath. “It was a bloody disaster, honestly.”
The correct and friendly response would be to offer sympathy. Daisy felt more like dancing, and had absolutely no idea why. “That sucks. I was pulling for you two.”
“I think we both were, but I need him as my friend. Navigating coming back from another dimension whilst pregnant, on top of a romantic relationship that could ruin everything? Can you imagine the stress?”
“Right,” Daisy said. Strangely, she no longer felt like dancing. “Going from friends to being together while dealing with all of that, it’d be a nightmare.”
“Thank you for seeing it right away. It took me forever to persuade Fitz.” Jemma sagged a little. “And I’ll have to tell my parents. The easiest lie might be that Will was a fling of some sort. Just in case…”
“We’re going to get him back.”
“As ever, I appreciate your optimism, but in this case, I must be pragmatic. Even if we get him back…he was somebody who was there, you know? I don’t know how a relationship in the real world would work, or if I even want that. So, a fling it is.”
“How’re the elder Simmonses going to react? Are they super traditional about this sort of thing?”
“I expect Dad would have preferred that I get married and the like first, but Mum’s somewhat of a free spirit.”
Daisy twisted suddenly, giving her friend a wide-eyed look. “Free spirit? Simmons, is your mother a hippie?”
“She may have taken part in protests and marches.” Jemma straightened up primly.
Daisy laughed and finished her root beer. “Go Mama Simmons.”
“She’ll be very pleased, no doubt, to have your approval. I’m grateful that Coulson never told them I was missing, as that might’ve invoked more questions that I’m willing to answer.” Jemma glanced over when Daisy gave her a confused look. “They think I took a lab job when SHIELD fell. Fitz, too. They have no idea about what we do, and I’ve no desire to tell them. Adding a baby to that mix? It’s something of a nightmare. In addition, once I tell them I’m pregnant, it really is real.”
Daisy looked down at Jemma’s midsection. “Hate to be the one to tell you this, but it’s real,” she said.
“I know.” Jemma sighed and rested her elbows on her knees, staring up at the sky and falling silent.
Daisy would have been content to sit beside her all night and let her have her quiet reflection, but: “Simmons?”
“Yes?”
“I lost all feeling in my ass, like, twenty minutes ago. It’s cold. Let’s go inside.”
Jemma laughed. “Yes. Let’s.” She collected the neglected soda bottle and comms unit and climbed to her feet, holding out her hand. Daisy wasn’t sure why she didn’t let go as they made their way back across the hangar roof to the stairs. But she definitely didn’t mind.
Week Eleven
“Why are men so frustrating?” Daisy asked as Mack lowered the quinjet ramp. “Is it, like, a thing that you learn in the womb? Is there a secret man school where you take lessons? Is it sponsored by Axe body spray?”
“I don’t know, but yes it’s probably a thing like that, there’s no school, we might take lessons—I’ll never tell, and no, we prefer to smell better than that.” Mack wheeled a flat of boxes down the ramp, parking it out of major hangar traffic. He walked past her, back onto the jet. “Let me take a wild stab in the dark here—someone’s having man troubles.”
“What gave it away?” Daisy climbed aboard the quinjet to help him unload the cargo.
“Lincoln again?”
“The ATCU almost caught up to him. In getting away, he fried the power grid for a small city near Augusta.”
“Maine or Georgia? Never mind, not important,” Mack said, catching Daisy’s expression.
“The more property damage he does, the harder it is to convince the ATCU to bring him in peacefully.” Daisy held up a bag. “This is a lot of potatoes.”
“Bobbi’s a fan. Lincoln will come in when he’s good and ready. He’ll learn there are people he can trust here.”
Daisy wasn’t so sure. The longer Lincoln remained on the run felt like a personal slight, even though she knew it had nothing to do with her. Coming from Afterlife, he’d been skeptical of SHIELD from the start. And he wasn’t wrong to be—Coulson had pretty much sold him out to the ATCU. But he couldn’t just kiss her and decide she wasn’t capable of handling all this weird shit.
“I guess I’m just a little upset because I was kind of hoping this whole thing would’ve passed by now. And if he comes in now, he gets stuffing and turkey.” Daisy grabbed the last box to carry down and load onto the flat, trailing behind Mack. She’d really hoped Lincoln would be done with this fugitive thing by now. Having him there with her team on Thanksgiving would have been amazing.
But no, the world continued to be stupid.
She helped Mack transport all of the food for the feast to the kitchens for the staff to whip into shape under the direction of Coulson, who’d made the holiday his personal mission this year for some reason. Afterward, she spent a couple hours trying to break through ATCU firewalls—unsuccessfully—until a text from Fitz arrived. Daisy glanced over the message once and immediately set her laptop to the side, heading for the den.
“Mack says you’ve been asking about why men are terrible again,” Fitz said when Daisy dropped onto the couch next to him. He held out the bowl of popcorn as an offering.
“You, Coulson, and him, you’re all excluded from that.”
“Good. Wouldn’t want you to think I’m terrible.”
“Never.” Daisy rested her head on his shoulder, which she knew he hated—or pretended to hate. Sometimes she and Jemma messed with him by using excessive amounts of affection, and he’d bat at them irritably. It was such a high school thing to do, but it wasn’t like any of them had had a normal experience there. They had to make up for lost time. “What’s on the cinematic menu tonight?”
“Even though it’s a Wednesday and not our typical Saturday?” Fitz stressed, as he generally liked to gripe about Thanksgiving being on a Thursday. “We’re now considered off-duty, so we’ll be doing a double showing. Funny Face and Duck Soup.”
“What? Those aren’t horror movies.”
“Jemma’s joining us as soon as she’s off the phone with her parents.”
“After everything we’ve lived through, horror movies can’t be that scary for her. She should be able to deal! C’mon. Something with a lot of blood and some quality creepiness. You know you want to.”
Fitz definitely did look tempted. After a moment, he nodded but he gave her a sideways glance. “Fine by me, but it’s your bed she’s crawling into when she can’t sleep later, not mine. I’m locking my door. She’s a cover hog and maintenance still hasn’t fixed that draft in my room.”
“Acceptable losses,” Daisy said, sitting up. “Play the scary movie, Fitz.”
She’d already jumped three times—and had gotten into two arguments with Fitz about the plausibility of torture scenes—before she heard Jemma’s footsteps. Jemma tiptoed in, made a face as the viscera onscreen, and settled herself between them, collecting the popcorn bowl from Fitz. “You two are going to give yourselves nightmares,” she said.
“I’m not scared,” Fitz and Daisy said in unison, and Jemma shook her head at them.
As much as it delivered on the creepy front, the movie wasn’t one of their better selections, even though it made the three of them jump. When Fitz let out an involuntary “no!” at the main lady being menaced, Daisy and Jemma teased him mercilessly. He tried to return the favor, picking on them about drooling over the main dude in a shirtless scene, but Daisy and Jemma merely giggled.
“You two are the worst,” Fitz said in disgust, stealing the popcorn bowl from Jemma. “Should be ashamed of yourselves, you should, ogling him like a piece of meat. Of manflesh!”
“Clearly he takes the time to work out, and we’re…appreciating his hard work, aren’t we, Simmons?”
“It’s only right to acknowledge it, Fitz,” Jemma said, giving him a gigantic smile. “He works so hard.”
Fitz took a giant handful of popcorn and muttered something about bad influences. Daisy threw a kernel at him and pointed innocently at Jemma when he whipped about in indignation.
Hot men or not, though, the plot grew a little predictable for her and the jump scares became passé. Fitz continued to absently shovel popcorn into his mouth, absorbed in the film, but Daisy noticed that Jemma had begun to stare off into space, mind clearly somewhere else.
Daisy nudged her shoulder and gave her a questioning look. “What’s going on?”
“I told my mum and dad,” Jemma whispered, leaning away from Fitz.
“How’d they take it?”
“Shocked, I think. But happy for me. I pretended I was happy about it, for their sake.”
“Yikes,” Daisy said, as that sentence left a lot to unpack.
“It’s fine,” Jemma said. She forced a smile, leaning even closer to Daisy so that she was whispering directly in her ear. “They asked if it was Fitz’s. That was a bit awkward.”
“A bit?” Daisy asked a little too loudly, and Jemma shushed her. Daisy wrinkled her nose back at her and dropped back to the whisper. “Bet you feel better now that you told them, though.”
Jemma frowned, looking upward as she gave the matter some thought. “You’re right. I do feel better.”
“I always feel loads better when I break down and tell Coulson whatever I’ve been keeping from him. Last week, I—”
“I’m sorry, am I interrupting gossip night? I thought this was movie night,” Fitz said.
“Sorry, Fitz,” Jemma said.
“Yeah, sorry,” Daisy added.
On screen, the killer swung his machete. Entrails flew everywhere, inspiring Jemma to gasp “Oh good lord!” and hide her face in Daisy’s shoulder.
“Now that’s properly gruesome!” Fitz said, his eyes lighting up.
“You okay there, Simmons?” Daisy asked.
She didn’t move. “Let me know when it’s over.”
“The gross part? That’s over.”
“No, the movie. The whole thing.”
Daisy laughed and shifted to get more comfortable and to make it easier for Jemma to hide her face. From the squeaking sounds occasionally emerging from under her arm, she figured Jemma had to be peeking. They stayed that way for the rest of the movie, Fitz occasionally shushing them whenever they whispered to each other.
When the credits rolled, and the main character had successfully vanquished the killer at the cost of all of her friends’ lives, Daisy carefully sat up and extricated her arm from beneath Jemma. She tried to be nonchalant about getting the feeling to return.
“Can’t we watch a comedy?” Jemma asked, blinking owlishly as she sat up. “Ooh, a romantic comedy. Something with dancing.”
“Nothing black and white,” Daisy said.
“No Cary Grant,” Fitz said at the same time. He thought about it. “And no cats.”
After a good deal of bickering, mostly from Fitz, they found a movie in the archives that met all of their criteria. Fitz relinquished the popcorn and laid down on his part of the couch, resting his head in Jemma’s lap. He didn’t even complain when Daisy scrunched her fingers through his curls. The movie, however, did not get such consideration. “I’ve always wondered how everybody automatically knows the words to these songs,” he said as Gene Kelly and Donald O’Connor tapped their way through an elocution lesson.
“Oh, Fitz. It’s make-believe.”
“That doesn’t make me any less curious. Make-believe or not, it should be based on reality, shouldn’t it? You don’t see Daisy bursting into song randomly, with—with Coulson joining in!”
“No, but I would pay good money to,” Daisy said.
“I took two years of tap-dancing lessons as a kid,” Coulson said, making all three of them jump as he crossed behind the couch to collect a beer from the fridge. He settled on one of the overstuffed chairs and pointed his beer at the tap-dancing on screen. “I was not up to this level, however.”
“Maybe you should practice,” Daisy said. “I’ve heard dancing’s a good way to keep in shape for older people.”
Coulson smiled benignly at her. “I’ll take that under advisement.”
Boy was she going to pay for that crack later, Daisy could tell. But it was worth it, for the way she could feel Jemma giggling next to her. As the movie played on, other members of various teams drifted in and grabbed beers and snacks, settling on comfortable surfaces to watch Don Lockwood and Kathy Seldon fall in love.
It was, Daisy decided, a pretty good start to what was rapidly becoming her favorite holiday.

LEGO BATMAN HEADCANNONS - PART 2
oh wOW I DIDN’T EXPECT FOR PEOPLE TO LIKE THE FIRST BATCH SO MUCH???? plus I love making these so I really wanted to make more so here we go:
Dick is afraid of downwards escalators. This came from him getting his cape stuck while going for a step and getting stuck. It was only for a few seconds but he may as well be scarred for life. He’ll only ride them if Bruce is there.
For some reason, doctors actually have to give Bruce twice as much anesthetic during operations. This can only go as well as you might expect, with him acting drunk for ages until it wears off. This is a lot of fun for his friends, however. Barbra makes sure she’s recording at all times and insists on taking him to parties everywhere to watch him go crazy, “hhEEYYY, THIS BUILDING IS SO... big” “that’s your company building Bruce”. He insists on laying with Alfred like he’s five and constantly gives him hugs (he called him dad once.) The first time he saw Dick he started to cry and kept saying “my beautiful baby son. look at u. my child.” until he saw a picture of Joker. Everyone lost it once he started drunk-hitting on the picture and uses the video they took of it as blackmail.
Barbra takes Dick shopping with her because he gives the best fashion advice. “GURL, THAT DRESS IS SO YOU!” “Honey this isn’t your color” She jokingly calls him Randy, after the show they watch together (Say Yes to the Dress) because of his godly advice.
If you’re anywhere near Wayne Manor on April Fool’s Day, r u n. There is an ever-going prank war going on for the next 24 hours and it’s dangerous.
Also, bat/bird puns???? All day. Every day. It could be the absolute worst thing you’ve ever heard but both of them die at each one. “Look, those crooks are ROBIN’ the bank again!” “Bat they might be armed, it’s too dangerous!” You could hardly believe how they manage to do their jobs.
Try to play any Queen song near the batfam. They all instantly explode into song and go the whole way through. They have the parts picked out already, too. “Toxic” is also a popular one.
Joker cries over fandoms with Harley at least once a week. They live for the sweet discourse in almost any fandom imaginable. Cartoon, music, movies... their lives are ruined.
Every villain in Gotham would fight Batman at every possible chance, but they won’t lay a finger on Robin. Not only will Batman beat the crap out of them if they do, Robin is buds with almost anyone and they enjoy his company too much to actually harm him. They turn into stormtroopers and miss every single shot on purpose if Robin’s too close.
Joker constantly imagines himself inside of dramatic music videos and acts them all out in real life.
When Bruce gets sick his voice does a complete 180 and he sounds like a chipmunk. He tries not to go and fight crime like this since it’s possible his opponent with die laughing before any one of strikes does the job.
Bruce will only plant a kiss on Dick’s head if, and only if, he’s sleeping. He’s not yet comfortable to do it while he’s awake and tries to keep it secret, but Alfred sees all. One night, right when Dick is about to fall asleep, Alfred whispers, “Don’t worry, master Bruce, I’m sure you’ll make his year.” Bruce isn’t afraid anymore.
Bruce insists on taking Robin to every party he gets invited to just to brag about him to his friends. He is hellbent on the fact that no child could ever surpass Dick, and even if one could he could always beat them in a fight to the death anyway so it doesn’t even matter.
Bruce and Dick often reenact the “when mom isn’t home” (saxophone guy and his kid) video. Dick broke the oven door going on three times now.
When the batfam can’t decide on what to do they always resort to “Don’t Laugh” challenge. Alfred is the reining champion. Barbra usually comes close, but ends up failing listening to the others desperately making noises to hide their laughter. Dick never gets past the first video as he’s just too happy all the time, and surprisingly neither does Bruce. Something about the whole situation just makes his willpower melt away and turns him and Dick into giggly maniacs.
Bruce calls Dick a bunch of pet names whenever he cries. “Baby Bird”, “Red Robin” and of course “Boy Wonder” work the best. Dick has names for Bruce too, such as “Batty”, “Masked Millionaire” and “Murciélago”.
Robin is at the top of his Spanish class.

The Parent Trap - Part Two
Character: Dean Winchester
Warning: None
Word Count: 1,244
Pairing: Eventual Dean x Reader
Summary: Dean arrives to drop off Ramona but ends up staying longer than he planned. Both he and the reader realize what the two children are trying to accomplish.
Part One
Story:
Mitchell spends all afternoon making lemonade. This required a trip to the store specifically for lemons, but he’s quite happy with the end result. It’s been in the fridge for barely ten minutes when the doorbell rings. Mitchell runs to greet his guests.
“I made lemonade!” he announces.
“Mitchell Carter, that’s not how we say hello,” you scold.
“Sorry, Mama.” Then to his guests he says, “Would you like to come inside and have some lemonade?”
“Lemonade sounds awesome.” Dean steps into the house with Ramona and closes the door.
Ramona waves at you. “Hi, miss (y/n).”
“Hi, Ramona.”
“The lemonade isn’t cold yet,” Mitchell explains. “Mama just put it in the freezer. You can stay until it’s ready, mister Dean. Do you wanna see my room, Ramona?”
Ramona nods, sheds her boots and coat, and takes off down the hallway with your son. This leaves you alone with Dean who suddenly seems a little less confident without his daughter around. He hovers near the door until you motion for him to have a seat at the kitchen counter, whereupon he takes off his jacket and balls it in his lap.
“I can take off,” he offers. “I don’t want to impose.”
“Stay a while. Have some lemonade. Mitchell might be offended if you didn’t.”
“I guess I can spare half an hour. What time should I pick up Ramona?”
“Well, it’s a Friday, so she’s welcome to stay late if she wants. How about ten?”
For a few minutes, you and Dean talk while the lemonade chills in the freezer. Now that he’s up close and sticking around for more than a brief moment, you can get a better look at him. He resembles Ramona, particularly in the color of his hair. Light freckles dust his cheekbones, and perhaps the eight-year-old inherited those as well. His eyes are muted green and crinkle at the corners when he smiles, and day-old stubble shadows his jaw.
In a whirlwind instant, Mitchell and Ramona come racing out into the kitchen and come to a sliding, breathless halt in their stocking feet.
“What’s for dinner?” Mitchell pants.
“I was thinking I’d order pizza.”
“We had that last week.”
You let your jaw drop dramatically. “Are you saying no to pizza?”
“Daddy is a really good cook,” pipes Ramona. “He could make dinner.”
Caught off guard, Dean fumbles over his words before getting out a coherent sentence. “Pizza is classic playdate food, baby girl.”
“Please, Daddy?” She breaks out the puppy dog eyes, and, after being nudged, so does Mitchell. Dean’s been trapped.
You laugh. “Whaddya say, Dean? Want to see what you can make with what’s in my cupboards?”
Sighing, Dean gets up from his seat. “Alright. Let’s see what we can do.”
It’s actually pretty incredible what he can do. Rather than consult a cookbook, he gathers a few staple ingredients and builds outwards from scratch, adding things as the idea strikes him. What you find more impressive is how he gets everyone engaged. Ramona is obviously accustomed to helping make meals, but Mitchell jumps right in, and Dean even finds something for you to do. There’s a moment when you pause and take a good look at the scene. Dean is showing Mitchell how to knead dough for a pie crust, and Ramona carefully cuts up apples for the filling. All at once, you feel very comfortable with these two near strangers like you’ve known them for years. The moment ends when the trio notices you doing nothing and a chorus of good-natured booing echoes in the kitchen. Two hours pass in the blink of an eye, and you all sit down to a well-prepared meal accented by ice cold lemonade and the most incredible apple pie you’ve ever eaten.
By now, Dean seems to have forgotten that he was going to leave. You say nothing and allow the evening to morph into a Lego building night – your forte. Raising a young boy comes with learning how to work magic with Legos. From there everyone votes to watch a movie, so you gather on the sofa. Mitchell and Ramona, however, don’t make it. They’re out before the credits roll.
“Thanks for dinner,” you say quietly to Dean. “I haven’t eaten like that in ages. Do you always cook like that?”
“Not usually that much at once, but we try to be creative. I’m glad you liked it.” Gazing down at Ramona asleep on his lap, Dean tucks a strand of hair behind her ear. It’s wavy when it’s not in braids. “You know,” he murmurs, “she’s been to three other playdates this school year, and not once did she ask me to stay and make dinner.”
“I feel special.”
Dean catches your eyes, eyebrows lifted amusedly. “You’re on to them, aren’t you?”
You nod and glance at the clock on the wall. “Damn. It’s almost midnight.”
“Seriously?” Dean checks his watch and grimaces. “Yeesh. Didn’t mean to stay so late. Sorry about that.”
“Don’t worry about it. We were having fun.”
Rising, Dean picks up his sleeping daughter. You slide out from under Mitchell and walk him to the door. He somehow manages to pick up Ramona’s boots and coat and drapes the latter over her to protect against the cold night air. You hold the door open for him, shivering as a breeze washes over you, and thank him once more before he carries Ramona to his car.
* * * * *
With Ramona and her coat supported by his left arm and her boots in his right hand, Dean steps into the elevator at exactly 12:15 AM and rides to the fifth and topmost floor. Drowsiness overcomes him, and he lets his mind wander back across the past few hours until the bell dings and the doors open into the hall. The whole building is very nearly silent at this hour. Only one or two doors leak the sound of muffled televisions. He reaches his own, knocks, and moments later Sam opens it. Stepping inside, he carries Ramona to her room and tucks her in bed without bothering to make her change out of her clothes.
“You’re getting back pretty late,” Sam observes. “Something happen?”
Dean replies, “Somebody made me stay and make dinner.”
“Ah.”
Dean quietly leaves the bedroom and heads for his own. After letting out a yawn, he strips out of his clothes and dons his pajamas, brushes his teeth, and finally crawls into bed. He stares at the ceiling while Sam mimics the routine, turns off the light, and lays down on the bed on the other side of the room. Sharing an apartment with only two bedrooms means the brothers have had to sacrifice a certain measure of privacy.
“How was it?” asks Sam.
“I had a good time. Didn’t mean to stay so late. Ramona kept saying yesterday how pretty (y/n) is, and I can’t disagree with her. She and (y/n)’s kid are trying to set us up.”
“I know. She thinks she’s being sneaky. Couple days ago, she told me, “I think I found Daddy a girlfriend”. Don’t tell her I said that.”
“Never.” Dean chuckles. “She’s too good a kid for me.”
There follows a lengthy pause where the mood in the room sobers. Sam is the first to break it. “Do you think you’re ready for a relationship again?”
Dean takes a deep breath and lets it out slowly. “I don’t know, Sam.”

A Broken Heart
Character: Jungkook (BTS) Word count: 2497 Summary: Young Jungkook finds out one weekend what a broken heart really feels like | #fluff #babysitter!au
Related stories: You’re Like a Butterfly | Save Me, Save Me
a/n: omg these babysitter stories are so fun to write! baby bts are so cute I can’t ;;w;;
On Monday, Jungkook's parents received word that his father's mother was ill. Jungkook knew that something sad was happening, judging by the long faces and somber mood after they got that phone call. But the cartoons playing on t.v. were too distracting, the bright colours and flashing images seeming more important to the child. Later that night, while being tucked into bed, Seokjin took charge of bedtime stories.
On the bottom bunk, the three youngest were cuddled together: Jungkook and his brothers, Taehyung and Jimin.
"What story do you want me to read?" Jin's smile looked forced, not quite reaching his eyes. Out of everyone, he had spent the most time with his grandmother. Of course, that could be because he was the first born grandchild. Their bond was seen as unbreakable, except now it was under threat.
As he thumbed through the collection of children's books on the shelf, Jin heard Jimin speak up.
"Hyung? What's wrong with Granny?"
His broad shoulders slumped. "It's kind of a sad story, Chimchim. Do you really want to hear it?"
Taehyung spoke next. "Yeah, I wanna hear it too! Why are Mom and Dad so sad?" He tried sitting up but Jin gently pushed him back down, fixing the covers over the three. As he brushed Jungkook's fluffy hair back, he told them, "Okay, I'll tell you. Granny is really sick. She has something called cancer and it's a very bad thing -"
"I've heard of that!" Jungkook interrupts. "My teacher had it and never came back. We had to get a new teacher!"
"Does that mean we have to get a new Granny?" Taehyung asks.
"No, it doesn't work like that. If Granny's gone, then she can never be replaced. Mom and Dad are going to be at the hospital all this weekend, visiting her, so Y/N is going to babysit us."
Jungkook gasps, eyes lighting up. Just that act alone showed Jin how young he was, how incapable he was of grasping the situation.
"Do you think Y/N will let us watch cartoons all weekend?" Jimin whispers into Taehyung's ear, trying to be sneaky. "And let us play outside, even when it's dark?"
With another smile, Jin once more fixed their blanket. "Now that I told a sad story, I want to tell a happy one. To send you off to sleep with warm thoughts. What about the story of the Prince and Princess?" He didn't let them answer, pulling the book from the shelf and delving into the story before they could try to stop him. Although the youngest boys drifted off easily, dreaming of gallant knights and beautiful princesses, the rest of the family did not sleep so easy that Monday night.
Or any night that week.
"IT'S FRIDAY!" Jimin shouts. "Noona's coming ~"
"For the whole weekend," Taehyung exclaims, spreading his arms wide to show just how big the "whole weekend" was. The two continued their playful banter, playing games and happily waving their parents off. The only one missing to say goodbye was Jungkook, who had locked himself up in his room the second he came home.
Although excited to see you, he was nervous. Butterflies swirled in his tummy, that he clutched at, half wondering if he would die from them. He watched from the window as his parents pulled away in their car, before getting to work. Jungkook fixed his white school shirt, setting his tie straight and spitting on a cloth to clean his shoes with. He looked so cool and mature in no time, ready to face you and hoping you'll notice his thought out appearance.
He raced to the window, peering out to see if you were here yet.
And you were.
Only he couldn't find it in himself to smile, to feel happy or run downstairs in joy. You got out of a boy's car, smushing your mouth to his in what grown ups call a "kiss." Disgusting, revolting and ... What was that feeling? Jungkook clutched at his chest, where Namjoon told him his heart was. He remembered his older brother's explanation of what a heart was; "It pumps blood around the body but many people use it figuratively as well. When you're sad, you call it a "broken heart.""
Is this what a broken heart feels like?
For the first time since you became the family's babysitter, Jungkook did not run to you. Jimin and Taehyung instead attached themselves to your side, speaking at the same time, asking if they could have ice cream or play, you think. It was hard to understand them. Namjoon greeted you next, followed by Jin and Hoseok. You assumed Yoongi was up in his room, like he always was.
However, the youngest was no where to be seen.
"Seokjin, where's Kookie?"
"He's in his room. He ran up there when he came home and hasn't come out."
You frowned. "Oh, do you think it's because of ... " You trailed off, not knowing how to word it. How do you casually bring up a sick grandmother?
Jin shrugged, face falling. "I don't know, I don't think he understands. The younger ones don't really get it, I don't think."
"Ah, they're still young I suppose."
"It's probably good. At least they can still smile easily."
After promising Jimin and Taehyung an ice cream later, they unattached themselves from you and ran off to play. Now free, you cautiously went to Jungkook's room. Knocking softly, you called out, "Kookie?"
There was no response.
"Kook?"
Pushing the door open, you found him with his back turned to the door, roughly sticking Lego blocks together.
"Oh, Kookie! Are you too busy playing to come say hi to me?"
"Yes!" He scooted away when you came closer, to sit where he once was. Now he faced you, cheeks puffed and lower lip jutted out. "I'm not your friend anymore, so just go away."
"Why?" Children throwing tantrums wasn't new, but they always stemmed from a reason. What had you done? You had only just arrived?
Jungkook shrugged, stooping his head and frowning down at the red block in his hand. You didn't love him. You only pretended to, cuddling him and kissing his nose to make him smile. Did you do that for the other boy? Did you give him orange juice and push him on the swing? The betrayal stung in his heart.
"Are you sad, Kookie?"
He nodded.
You wondered if the news about his grandmother had hit him harder than Jin knew. Jungkook had always been bad at expressing himself. You could sense that sometimes he wanted to show affection to his brothers but would show this instead through punching and kicking. Jimin was especially upset by this but you had no doubt that as he got older, he would understand more that this was Jungkook's way of showing love.
"What's making you sad?" you queried.
Another shrug.
"Do you want to talk about it?"
He shrugged again before saying, "Please, just leave me alone."
Saturday was much the same.
The older boys were resigned, mostly wearing smiles around the younger ones. When it was just them alone with you, their smiles dropped.
"I hope Gran's going to be okay," Namjoon muttered sadly.
Yoongi said nothing but his eyes said everything. He was the most distant of the brothers, always staying away from you. Namjoon claimed it was hormones from puberty, "He's started growing hair in weird places recently" the young teen had informed you before. However, the more you observed Yoongi, the more you noticed his little ticks. They showed how he truly felt, more than words ever could.
And he was devastated about the news.
"Noona ~ " Jimin bound into the kitchen from the backyard, grass stains on his trousers. "Can I have a treat?" Out of all the boys, he was the chubbiest. He was always so soft and fun to hug, that you could never deny his requests.
"Of course, Jimin, come here." He plopped himself on your lap, swinging his legs when you pulled a chocolate sweet from your pocket. He unwrapped it and devoured it slowly, savouring the taste. Usually, your lap was a throne only for Jungkook. But after breakfast, he had quickly retreated back to his room.
"Jimin?" Jin speaks up. "Do you know what's wrong with our baby Jungkook?"
Gasping, Jimin dramatically looked around before making a zipper motion over his lips. "He made me promise not to tell!"
"You won't tell us? Never ever?"
Adamantly, he shook his head. "No! I pinky promised!"
"Would you tell us for more chocolate?" Yoongi pipes up. His voice had started cracking weeks ago, leaving him sounding far more mature than his years. His voice was as deep as his dads and all his brothers combined. Hoseok, sat next to him, picked up on his trail of thought. "Noona will give you one hundred chocolates if you tell us!"
Jimin's eyes lit up and faster than lightening he spat out, "Jungkook's jealous!"
His voice was loud, loud enough to draw in Taehyung from outside and for Jungkook to shoot out of his bedroom, down the stairs and into the kitchen.
"Jealous of what?"
"He's jealous that Noona - "
Jungkook pounced, smothering back Jimin's words with his hands, face red and feeling more betrayed than ever. This was the worst weekend ever in his whole entire life! Taehyung stood by the back door, enough grass stains on his clothes to make Jimin's look clean.
"Noona," he says, "Jungkookie's jealous because you have a boyfriend!"
The sentence hung in the air. Then Hoseok's loud voice filled the silence; "Jealous? Does our baby brother have a crush?"
Turning even more red, Jungkook stomped his foot. "No! I hate girls! I hate Noona and I especially hate Noona's boyfriend!" He stormed off, with plans to run away formulating in his head. He would steal the cookies from the jar, bring his favourite teddy, and a pair of clean underwear. Then he would set out, on a journey to find a better family, one that wouldn't betray him like this.
The kitchen was alight with noise, most of it caused by Hoseok.
"Taehyung, Jimin, you both knew about his crush?" he asks.
Taehyung nods his fluffy head as he walks to him, gesturing to be picked up. Once on Hobi's lap, his face turns serious. "He says he's in love."
Jin clutches his chest. "That ... That's so cute! Who knew he was a romantic?!"
"That's not important," Taehyung frowns. Love was gross, frankly. Only one thing mattered in life. And that was chocolate. "Noona, I heard the deal you made with Chimchim. And I want in. I told you Jungkook's secret so I deserve ninety-five per cent of Jimin's share of chocolate."
"Hey, no fair! I would have said it but - "
As the two continued to bicker, you set Jimin gently back on the ground before trailing after Jungkook. His door had been left wide open and you could see him stomp from one end of the room to the other. His face had turned a deep shade of red and tears brimmed in his eyes. Embarrassment was the cause. Even as a child, you would turn teary eyed when you made a mistake or felt like you were being laughed at.
"Jungkook ~"
"Don't talk to me!"
His school bag was on the bed, his teddy hanging out. It seemed to watch the boy furiously grab things in his small hands. He held crayons and a blanket, necessities he quickly realised he would also require. Those too were shoved in the bag.
"Are you running away?"
"Yes! And don't try to stop me!"
You wanted to laugh. However, you knew that if you did, his embarrassment would only worsen. "Jungkook, why do you want to run away?"
"I hate you and everyone else!" He started to get choked up, imagining his life from now on. He hoped a new family would find him quickly, before his biscuit supply ran out.
"Saying things like that to your brothers is hurtful, Jungkook. They love you very much. And I do too." You sat by his packed bag on the bed. "We would never be able to smile again without you around."
"That's a lie," he sniffled. "You smiled for that boy."
"Who? Mingyu?"
"That's a stupid name," he commented childishly. It sounded like the name of someone ugly and gross, who Jungkook would never dare befriend. He bet that this "Mingyu" was so weird that he probably didn't eat nice things and liked broccoli and doing homework. Yeah, a definite weirdo.
"Mingyu, uh ... The boy that dropped me off yesterday is my boyfriend. He makes me happy and you'll find someone someday, that's your age, who will make your stomach fill with butterflies too."
"I make you happy, don't I Noona? We always watch cartoons together! Why do we have to be the same age?"
"Ah, I'm a little too big for you, Jungkook."
"What about when I'm big too?"
"You won't think about me then. When you're a big boy, you'll have made so many new friends and I know that you'll find someone perfect for you. Someone that's not me." You were keeping your tone soft while also speaking the truth. There was no point in leading the child on.
An adult dating a child was wrong. And by the time Jungkook would himself become an adult, a handsome one you didn't doubt, your job as a babysitter will long be over. His life will continue on, doing great things, making great memories, while yours continued too, on a different journey.
"That's not true." Stubbornly, Jungkook crossed his arms. His tears had vanished and so had his desire to run away. Sticking around won't be so bad, he reasoned. He'll beat Jimin and Taehyung up then as he becomes a grown up, with broad shoulders like Jin and a deep voice like Yoongi, he'll prove you wrong. He knows he'll never forget you and that you are his perfect person, the one he wants to watch cartoons with forever.
Sensing that his anger had subsided, you asked, "Do you want to come downstairs with me?" You stand up and he rushes to your side, burying his face into your hip. "I can make you hot chocolate, if you want?" you continue, patting his head.
He nodded. "But don't make any for the others! They're traitors!"
The atmosphere had lifted, even if it was at Jungkook's expense. The elder brothers were smiling again. Even Namjoon, who was being blamed for Jungkook's early knowledge of the opposite sex ("Noona, I bet he found what's on Hyung's computer!" "Shut up, Hoseok!") Yoongi joined the teasing too, his smiles all the more beautiful due to its rarity. It seemed that, for a moment, all troubles were forgotten and the family could laugh as one.

Uber, Tesla, Electric Scooters, and More Folks Who Made Car News This Week

Uber, Tesla, Electric Scooters, and More Folks Who Made Car News This Week
August would be slow, they promised. Catch up on sleep, leave work a little early on Fridays, start tackling those long-term projects you’ve been pondering. It was not to be. This month—and this week!—have been full of transportation action. Of companies (and cities) making deals and decisions. Of public figures backtracking and tweeting about it. Of dreamers making amazing, slightly nutty things, like post-market tech that might help helicopters drive themselves, or full-sized sportscars made of tiny plastic bricks. It was a fast-paced week. Let’s get you caught up.
Headlines
Just look at this Bugatti Chiron made entirely of Lego.
Last last week, after a fortnight of questioning and upheaval, Tesla suddenly reversed course, with CEO Elon Musk announcing the electric carmaker would stay public after all. But legal experts say the move won’t save Tesla from the Securities and Exchange Commission, which is reportedly very interested in the nature of Musk’s initial take-private tweet. Nor from class action lawsuits by shareholders. Stay tuned.
Flying cars sound great, but they’re still a bit of a moonshot. But being a distant reality means there’s still plenty of time to make incremental engineering improvements. For example, the startup SkyRyse spoke to senior writer Jack Stewart about its plans to modify helicopters with cameras and computers so they can start to steer themselves.
Uber’s autonomous vehicle division this week announced a big $500 million investment from Toyota. The ride-hailing company has worked with the automaker on various projects since 2016, but that’s a big, expensive bet on self-driving tech. Uber doesn’t want to be a robo-taxi operator, and neither does Toyota, but clearly the two companies see value in each other.
Jack thoroughly enjoyed his test drive aboard Jaguar’s all-electric i-Pace, which included unsupressable giggles, a melting chocolate chip ice cream cone, and an efficient enough battery to evaporate most range anxiety.
Scooters are back, baby! Three months after ordering them gone from city streets, San Francisco announced that just two companies, Scoot and Skip, will receive permits to operate e-scooter-share during a year-long pilot project. Not among the winners: Bird, Lime, and Spin, all of which launched scooter service in March. The scooters made by Uber and Lyft were also shut out.
On August 25, it happened again: A Tesla Model 3 slammed into the back of a stopped firetruck. It’s unclear whether the driver was using Autopilot when the crash occurred. But it’s a good time to remind yourself why Tesla’s semiautonomous feature can’t “see” halted vehicles.
If your mind is occasionally boggled by the complexity of transportation systems, you’ll want to check out architect Candy Chan’s latest series of illustrations: 3-D depictions of New York City subway stations. Subway stations can feel like waiting rooms you just have to tolerate, but Chan argues these are places to be examined critically and thoughtfully, too.
In-house WIRED physicist Rhett Allain calculates how fast a Tesla has to move to go airborne.
Tesla Graph of the Week
Transpo editor Alex Davies set aside a chunk of time to go through Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s tweets. There are…a lot of them—the man loves Twitter. But Alex was after something very specific: How do Musk’s tweets affect Tesla’s stock price? Depends on the tweet, it turns out! Musk’s April Fool’s joke that Tesla was “bankwupt” did not play well on the markets. His tweet about taking Tesla private, however, led to a dramatic spike. Check out the graph:

Elon Musk’s other transportation venture, the Boring Company, held a public meeting at Dodger Stadium this week to discuss its plans to build a “Loop” to transport (a limited number of) baseball fans. At least two people who spoke at the sparsely attended meeting were unidentified as SpaceX employees. The Boring Company told WIRED it did not instruct Musk employees to attend or speak at the meeting.
The Wall Street Journal has a new Musk profile out, which asks: Could Tesla survive without the charismatic, erratic CEO? Just as critically, can it survive with him?
Apple reports its first autonomous vehicle crash in California, a slow-moving and minor dust-up with a Nissan Leaf. The tech company reported no injuries.
Ford cancels its plans to import Ford Focuses to the US, thanks to the brewing trade war with China.
Meanwhile, President Donald Trump says the European Union’s proposal to scrap auto tariffs is “not good enough”.
Adults may be allowed to ride scooters without helmets in California, if Governor Jerry Brown signs a bill on his desk.
Is all the scooter controversy confusing to you? Vox has got lengthy explainer.
CityLab has a great, comprehensive piece on why America is so bad at public transit. (Hint: Riders won’t tolerate bad service!)
😍 Detroit honors Aretha Franklin with 100 pink Cadillacs.

Essential stories from WIRED’s pastThat Bugatti’s got us a little Lego-mad, so take some time with this 2015 piece on why it’s so hard to build a totally sustainable plasticy brick.
