update #1: i just finished reading Letting An@ Go by anonymous. the teenage drama and romance is gross and annoying. the protagonist has a lot of strong opinions about peoples weight, especially her mother’s, which is very triggering. plenty of m3an $pO if that’s your thing. rampant fatphobia. i give it 3 out of 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️

5 star tier ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

• hunger: a memoir of (my) body by roxane gay. one of the best edsheeran books ive read. it’s about sa, food addiction, boolimia, feminism, fatphobia, the struggles of just trying to exist black woman in a large body. would recommend

• i’m glad my mom died by jennette mccurdy. it’s so good. i think i finished it in a day. it’s about a lot more than edsheeran. highly recommend. go read it right now

• unbearable lightness: a story of loss and gain by portia de rossi. a gay actor’s struggles with edsheeran. one of the few i’ve read more than once. would recommend

• wasted: a memoir of an0rex!a and boolimia by marya hornbacher. really deserves to be in a class of its own. it’s the best written edsheeran book out there. it’s sad, hilarious, intelligent, perfectly captures the internal voice of mania. highly tr!ggering, so proceed with caution. after wasted was published she relapsed, which she speaks about in madness: a bipolar life. it’s also a very good book but edsheeran is not the focus

4 star tier ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

• insatiable: a young mother’s struggle with an0rexia by erica rivera. if you wanna read about someone who takes fistfuls of bisacodyl and exercises intensely, you might like this book. it’s very good. would recommend

• dying to be th!n by nikki grahame. imagine being so severely malnourished as a child that you never go through puberty. thats how serious her illness was. she basically grew up in treatment facilities, managed to recover against all odds, went on big brother (the reality show), published a book, relapsed, and tragically passed away in 2021. the covid lockdowns were hard on her mental health. would recommend

• the girls at 17 swann street by yara zgheib. semi-autobiographical work of fiction. what sets this one apart is the protagonist isn’t a teenage girl. she’s, like, 28 i think? something like that. would definitely recommend if you get tired of reading about teens and preteens all the time

• elena vanishing by elena dunkle. at a certain point, all these books can be summarized in one sentence: she had to choose between recovery or death. it’s a very good memoir. would recommend

• born round: the secret history of a full-time eater by frank bruni. we love to see male representation in the edsheeran community. he was a chubby kid, turned to unhealthy means to achieve we!ght loss, eventually learns to heal his relationship with food and becomes restaurant critic for the new york times (ever heard of it?). would recommend

• sure, i’ll join your cult: a memoir of mental illness and the quest to belong anywhere by maria bamford. if you don’t know who maria bamford is, she’s one of the best stand up comics, period. that’s not even my opinion, it’s just an agreed upon fact within the stand up community. she’s brilliant. the book is about her mental illnesses and all the different self help groups she joins (so many!). she does go into her struggle with exercise boolimia, though that’s not the primary subject. it gets 5 stars as a book, but 4 stars as an edsheeran book because there just isn’t a lot of dis0rder talk

3 star and below ⭐️⭐️⭐️

• stick figure: a diary of my former self by lori gottlieb. good but i had trouble relating to the protagonist because was quite young and immature

• the art of st4rving by sam j. miller. some much needed male representation in edsheeran literature. and some lgbtq representation. it’s YA (young adult) fiction, not really my taste. would recommend for those who like YA. great cover art!

• wintergirls by laurie halse anderson. a lot of people love this book. i thought it was ok. it’s a work of fiction by an author who isn’t really part of the edsheeran or recovery community. it’s another YA book. i will always prefer memoirs and non-fiction

• fat chance by lesléa newman. this was the first edsheeran book i read. it was assigned reading for my high school health class. it’s a YA novel about a 13 year old girl who wants to lose we!ght. she re$tricts, she b;nges, she poorges, she becomes boolimic. i can trace my edsheeran back to this book. i started d;eting, b;ngeing, and abusing lax4tives as a direct result of reading this material. it did the exact opposite of its purpose, trying to steer young people away from toxic d!et culture. my take away was, i’m overweight, therefore i should be willing to do anything to get th!nner. it’s not very good tbh. maybe if you like YA you’d like it but otherwise, would not recommend

Castle on the Hill Lauren Jauregui x Reader A/N (author's note): A gender neutral fan fiction. Please excuse my typos.

Starting out, you were just someone who wanted to post videos on YouTube that contained content of you singing. You never thought that one day, you'd become the most viewed and subscribed to singing channel on YouTube that wasn't famous for having a career in the music industry like Justin Bieber of Ariana Grande. You were well-known for your covers of other people's songs, not your original ones as you didn't have any. However, that was going to change soon.

You had a special surprise in store for you viewers and you were excited but still nervous and anxious to show it.

@y/sm/n(your social media name): Hey guys, just uploaded a video. I think you guys'll like it.

You had just put up one of your own songs that you had written. The song had been sitting idle in your journal for a while because you were always iffy on the decision of whether or not to show it off as you were scared of the repercussions you'd get. But, after a small pep talk from one of your close friends, you chose to say 'fuck it' and just post it.

The song was titled Castle on the Hill and it was basically a short story about your life growing up and your friends and family back home, basically the people that raised you before you blew up and became big. It was a song that you wrote while you were reminiscing about your past.

All you could do now was hope that people would like it.

You and her had always used to sit atop the hill, watching the sun set and rise as Lauren was always so fascinated with nature. You enjoyed those moments with her the most, just sitting peacefully wrapped up in each other's arms, no one speaking a word but the message and feelings between you two clear as day.

As you grew older in age, you didn't grow in maturity. You admit, you were a little trouble maker back then but even if you could redo your teenage years with the knowledge you had now, you'd not change a single thing. You both started leaning in at the same time, not minding that anybody could come in at any moment. It was like the world around you was tuned out and all you could focus on was the girl in front of you, the teenager that had managed to take your heart without a receipt.

Ah, yes, the wretched two day jobs that you had to do to pawn off some money from people for you and your family. Your family was never one of the richest in town, therefore you had to work less than mediocre jobs that had low wages and lots of labor in order to keep your family afloat. You never stuck with one job for two long because you got bored easily of the bosses you got. On every Sunday night, you had a sort of ritual you did with your friends which was going out a buying cheap beer from the local liquor store down the street. The taste of the alcohol was bland and disgusting but you didn't mind it. You were in your youth and you didn't care that the cold brew running down your throat was absolutely horrible.

Your current friends you had now were "matured" and "dignified", they thought the idea of getting drunk until one was throwing up and getting high out of one's mind was a preposterous thing to do, it was simply unheard of. That meaning you haven't drunken the signature liquid that was meant to dull your emotions and brain activity like you used to, you also haven't touched the special plant that enhanced everything. To be honest with yourself? You missed it.

You were planning a well overdue trip back to the place where you grew up. You were happy to finally be able to see the town that birthed you and raised you. God, how you missed everyone and everything. You believed L.A. to be this great heaven that offered all the pleasures of the world, but you were wrong. You were so wrong. You didn't realize how special home was and home was not L.A.

You couldn't wait to sit atop that legendary hill and just breathe in the country air. You could practically already feel the grass that would prickle at your hands and feet, the bark of the tree that would dig into your back as you leaned up against it, the breeze of the wind that would ruffle your hair and chill your bones, the sun that would shine down upon you as it laid upon the horizon, painting the sky in beautiful colors of orange, red, and pink.

You had heard from your mother about how your old friends were doing. You commonly asked her how they were and what they were up to. Your mother would always tell you to try and reach out to them but you ignored that suggestion. You thought that they'd have forgotten about you by now.

One's brother overdosed One's already on his second wife One's just barely getting by

Your heart broke when you heard of the struggles that some of them were going through. Regret and guilt filled you as your mother told you of Lauren's brother dying of drug overdose. You had known of his depression long before but you never thought it would lead to something as severe as death. You always figured that he'd be fine without you there to support him since he had Lauren and your mother there. You never realized how important you were to him until he was already gone.

But these people raised me and I can't wait to go home

One of the main reasons you were going home was to attend the funeral of Chris Jauregui. You could only hope that Lauren would forgive you. You figured that she would blame you for his death since you had left, you had left them behind. You didn't really want to face the green eyed girl but you had no choice. You couldn't run away from your problems any longer. You had to turn around and face them, look them straight in the eye and accept the consequences that may follow.

Your plane ticket and bags were all packed up. You were ready to leave L.A. and travel back toward where you belong. You weren't leaving your dreams in the famous city though, you were still going to continue your channel on YouTube but you just wouldn't dedicate your life toward it.

You didn't know what was going to happen when you showed your face at the Jauregui residence, you didn't know how everything would turn out, but you did know that you needed to go. You missed the people who taught you everything you knew in life and you missed the land on where you became the person you were today.

Your heart was racing so fast you thought it was going to run up your throat and jump out of your mouth as you walked up the familiar stone steps that lead to the all too familiar red bricked house. As you reached the mahogany door, you reached a shaking hand up and knocked three times, the quiet banging seeming to ring in and out of your ears. It took a couple seconds but the door slowly opened up, revealing the two sets of eyes that you'd been wanting to meet for a while.

December 25th, 2018 - Christmas Day, Framlingham

Ed’s Farm

“Merry Christmas, baby!” Ed says when you get into the living-room of his farm. “Merry Christmas, Teddy!” you say.

“Remember that day when we were putting up the tree?” he asks and you nod, giggling. “Our cats were messing around and put the tree down twice! How could I forget that?” you joke and Ed laughs. “Do you remember the reason…”.

“Oh, you got distracted, didn’t you?” you ask him, searching in your memory what he told you that day. “I did!” Ed nods, his cheeks turning red and you caress them. “What is it, Teddy?”.

“I was looking for the perfect present to give you” he says, turning around and grabbing two boxes from below the tree. He gives you the biggest one first “This one is not ‘the perfect one’, it’s just something I know you’ve been wanting for a while!”.

You sit on the couch and unwrap the present, shocked when you see the newest Kindle Oasis E-reader - and waterproof - and an Aqua Note, that you can use when you’re taking a shower. “Teddy, if these presents are not the perfect ones, than I don’t know what can be more perfect than them!” you exclaim, emotive.

He knows how reading and writing is important to you, not only because it’s part of your job, but it’s also one of your biggest passions, and the fact he’s so supportive and encouraging of you melts your heart.

“Thank you, Ed!” you sniff, standing up and hugging him tight. “You’re welcome, love!” he giggles, putting his arms around you. “You know I didn’t want you to spend so much money with things for me, though, you are my biggest and best present! I could never give you such expensive things back, and…”.

“You don’t have to worry about that, document.write(Mari). You’re my girl, my wonderful girl, and you deserve this! What really matters is the meaning of the present, not its price!” he caresses your face and you sigh. You agree with him, this is what you’ve always thought about presents, but you wish you had enough money to buy nice gifts, like those huge and freaking nice Lego sets you know he loves.

“Now…” Ed gulps, nervously, giving you the other box. It’s very small and light and your eyes widen when you unwrap its gift paper. It’s a ring box!

“We’ve been dating for five months and only now I’ve realised we don’t have rings…” he explains as you open the small box, seeing a pair of beautiful silver ring. “It’s not a big deal, just officialising our compromise!” you look at Ed, mesmerised and enchanted by his tenderness.

“Not a big deal, Ed?” you shake your head, feeling your eyes getting wet “This means… Teddy, this means so much to me!” you sniff, letting the tears fall down your face. “Oh, my emotional baby!” he giggles, using his thumb to wipe the tears off your face “I’m glad you liked it!”.

“I liked it? Teddy, I have no words to describe how happy I am!” you blink a few times, but the tears keep coming down. “Oh, love, you’re so cute!” Ed pecks your lips before he picks one of the rings, the one with a beautiful, little document.write(blue) rock on the top “See, it? There are our names on it, and the date we’ve started dating!” he shows you the inside of the ring: ’document.write(Mari) and Ed, 23/7/18’.

“Thank you so much, Ed!” you sigh when he holds your right hand, putting the ring on your 4th finger. “Thank you so much, love!” he puts the other ring - a simpler one - on his own finger, and then he leans into you, pressing his lips on yours. You smile against his lips, so happy and so fulfilled!

“You make me so happy, Teddy Bear!” you whisper, laying your head on his shoulder, pressing your chest on his, your heartbeats synchronized. “So do you, baby!” he chuckles, putting his arms around you.

After a while, you both go to his room, ready to change your clothes and sleep. “I can’t wait to have this Kindle full of books!” you say, leaving the Kindle and the Aqua Note on his workbench.

“Oh, I bet you won’t take too long, right?” Ed jokes, starting to take his clothes off. You sigh when you see his tattoos, you love so much this side of his personality! “What is it?” he smirks, wiggling his brows at you, and you just shake your head, feeling your cheeks getting red.

Reaching your pyjamas on your suitcase, you get into his bathroom, too much ashamed to change your clothes in front of him. Five months of relationship and you’re still a virgin; five months and you still feel too insecure to give yourself completely to him. You are glad, though, Ed had never pressured you, respecting your limits and giving you the time you need.

You take a quick and warm shower, taking advantage to remove your makeup there. When you go back to Ed’s room, you find him already laid on the bed and you take your place beside him.

“You know what, baby? You look gorgeous with your makeup on, but looks so much better without it. I can see all your freckles and little marks and I can feel your smooth skin…” Ed says, cupping your cheeks, and caressing them with his thumbs. “Thank you. And to be honest, I’m super lazy to put some make up on most of the time, so I’m glad you like my face without it!” you giggle.

“You’re gorgeous with and without it… Oh, my baby is lazy, huh?” he giggles too, pulling your body closer to his, and you feel its warmth, so good during any time, and mostly, the Winter!

“You would be too, if you were a girl! Put make up on, then remove it, 'cause you are not supposed to sleep with it on your face. Bleed for a week every month, or if you don’t want to, remember to take pills every day; have this terrible check up on the doctor once you become a 'complete’ woman… Believe me, Teddy, you are lucky you were born a boy!” you joke and he nods.

“I’m lazy only for hearing about it!” he jokes and you pat his shoulder “You’re incredible, baby!” Ed brushes his lips on yours and you whimper his name, when he lays on his back, bringing you up his body. You get flushed, wondering what’s on his mind… Maybe he is wanting something more, it’s been a while since he’s done that for the last time, but… Are you ready for it?

You’re a bit nervous in this position, straddling him isn’t something you’re very used to. He giggles, grabbing your bum and squeezing your flesh, before he sits up and starts kissing your neck, leaving soft bites along your skin “You’re so sexy!” he whispers as his wandering hands run through your body, and you shift on his lap, feeling your cheeks burning. You’re definitely not used to this kind of compliment too.

Things get even more embarrassing when Ed gets a little bit too excited and you are able to feel him pressing your sensitive center through the thin fabric of your pyjama trousers “Sorry!” he stops his hands, resting them on your thighs, and raises his head to look at you, noticing how tensed you are. “No, Ed, I am sorry for not being ready yet… I know you want it, after so long, you must be really sexually aroused, and…”.

“document.write(Mari), love, it’s alright!” he calls your attention and you blush more for being jabbering “I don’t care how long you want me to wait, I love you, and it’s all that matters to me!”.

“I love you too, Ed, but I want to be able to give you everything you want!” you say, caressing his face.

“And you will, but at your time, when you feel ready, okay?!” Ed pecks your lips and you nod, sighing. He lays back and rolls so he’s on top of you now…

“Teddy…” you gulp, nervous. “Don’t worry, baby, I just wanna kiss you!” he winks at you, sensing your anxiety and you bite your lower lip, letting him convince you, as he kisses you properly, sliding his tongue into your mouth.

Christmas Day Afternoon, Ed’s Farm

“Baby?” Ed calls as you prepare hot cocoa for you both. “Yes, Teddy?” you look at him over your shoulder. “Can you cook more of those gingerbread cookies for me?” he pouts his lips for your and you giggle, walking to him and squeezing his cheeks.

“It won’t be necessary, Teddy bear!” you wink at him “I didn’t take all of the cookies to your parents’, I knew you were going to ask for them later!”.

“Oh, you’re calling me a starving guy, aren’t you?” he tilts his head, pretending to be offended. “Yes, and it’s my job to feed you!” you joke, turning around to grab the pot with the remaining gingerbread man cookies.

“The only thing is that there isn’t anything to decorate them anymore. It’s all over!” you say and Ed shrugs, opening the fridge “What, don’t you believe me?” you ask, frowning when he shows you a bottle of ketchup “Baby, I honestly don’t think this will work” you make a grimace, not even wanting to think about the strange mix of tastes of ginger, cinnamon and tomato sauce…

“Well, we never know if we don’t try, right?” he shrugs, picking up two plates and your Hogwarts mugs. “You won’t know if you don’t try, right?” you correct him and he sticks his tongue out to you. “You don’t know what you’re losing, baby!” Ed winks at you.

“There’s definitely one thing I’m not losing here: my mind!” you stick your tongue out too.

You pour the hot cocoa in your mugs and walk to the living-room, setting up the small table with them and Ed comes right after you with the plates, the pot full of cookies and the freaking ketchup. You didn’t believe he really meant that! Your Teddy is so crazy!

“Okay, now, time for document.write(King)!” Ed giggles, putting the DVD on as you both sit on the carpet, using a warm and thick blanket to get yourselves protected from the cold. You grab a bunch of cookies in your hands, start eating them and you shake your head, watching your boyfriend draw a face and decorate his gingerbread man cookie with the ketchup.

“Teddy, baby, I really wouldn’t do that if I were you!” you say. What if he ends up feeling sick after eating this strage combination?

“I think it will worth the shot!” he smiles putting the entire cookie in his mouth, chewing it and making a disgust grimace, with his eyes closed and tongue out “Yuck!”.

“I’ve told you!” you laugh and Ed sighs, drinking the hot cocoa, certainly trying to get rid of the weird taste of ginger and tomato. “At least, I’ve found the first thing ever that doesn’t go well with ketchup!” he winks at you and you laugh harder, shaking your head.

“Yes, you did, love!” you sip on your own drink, leaning closer to Ed “Hey, girls!” you smile when your cats approach you, purring. They start rubbing their fur on your favourite Christmas sweater and you stroke them.

“They like you more than me!” Ed pouts his lips. “That’s because you scolded them the other day!” you giggle when Calippo lays on your lap and Dorito start pushing her sister, competing for some space.

“Well, someone has to do the hard work, here. This is about educating them, you’re spoiling our children!” he makes a false accusation you and you roll your eyes. “How can someone be mad at this beauties?” you use a childish tone as you keep stoking their fur.

You look at Ed, and he’s got that tender gaze as always and you smile at him. “I love you!” these three words that scared you for a long time, fearing you’d never hear them from him, are the ones he mostly says to you! And you know it’s not only just for the sake of saying it; Ed’s actually meant it, every time, and you love him even more for this.

“I. Love. You!” you say, pecking his lips between each word “More than I’ve ever thought to be possible loving someone!” you add, looking him in the eye and he grins, cupping your face. “I’m so lucky I have you in my life! What would I do without you?” he frowns, and you notice he’s holding back his tears “What have I done to deserve a woman like you?” he gulps.

“You want us to end this Christmas crying?” you joke, feeling your eyes getting wet as well. “I want us to end this Christmas, and the other ones to come, happy. I want that, even when we argue, we never stop fighting for each other, we never go to bed withouth saying we love each other, because you are too much important, and I just… I can’t live without you!” Ed wipes the tears of your face, as you’ve started crying.

“This is a fucking cliche, you know how much I hate cliches, and that they may end up really bad, but, fuck it! I can’t live without you either!” you sigh, feeling the meaning of your words, you never thought you’d be that attached to someone so strongly - you’d also never thought you’d become the girlfriend of the man you most admired since you were a teen either, and here you are!

You never thought you’d say this words, because this is the kind of feeling - having this 'dependence’ on someone - you avoided your entire life, fearing the future; fearing that, if the relationship ever came to an end, you’d be left there, broken and uncapable of mending yourself.

But with Ed, everything seems so right, you know in your inside that you are meant to be, so you see no problems in letting this feelings sink into your core, and allow yourself to nurture them, let them grow and, in the not too distant future, spread this love and happiness in the form of your own children.

Ed Sheeran has been booked for the NFL Kickoff Concert, which is the epitome of NFL booking. Find someone who’s famous, but kind of forgotten about, who plays the least offensive music imaginable, and try to coax new audiences into watching football.

But this merchandise ... wow. I had to know if there’s anyone on the face of the earth who plans to buy this stuff unironically. There was only one place where I could get a serious answer. I went into the belly of the beast, and found the Ed Sheeran fanclub Discord. Surely if anyone was going to purchase these items it would be the Sheerios.

After minutes of waiting with bated breath I received no response. Nobody, not even Ed Sheeran’s biggest fans wanted to buy Ed Sheeran x NFL gear. I was crushed. But maybe this was a little too forward. Perhaps the Sheerios thought I was an undercover NFL agent trying to co-opt their fandom for the purposes of taking their money.

I needed a different approach.

Thanks to “Ed got the shivers” i learned something quickly about Ed Sheeran, and it was verifiable. Sheeran has indeed done some work with the Tennessee Titans, even said that he is a Titans fan. See, who said you couldn’t get some useful information from an Ed Sheeran Discord server?

So, knowing that “Ed got the shivers” was willing to talk, I needed to start asking the hard-hitting questions.

Hell yeah, we’re talking about Ed Sheeran’s NFL potential! Alright, we were having some fun discourse so it’s time to finally get my burning question answered.

Crushed. Devastated. The only captive audience for this NFL x Ed Sheeran merch is not interested in it. Stunningly, it seems the venn diagram of football fans and Sheeran fans is far too narrow to have any real attraction, kind of like when Sheeran had a cameo on Game of Thrones and confused everyone.

In any event, my quest was complete. Nobody really wants this merch. I assume any sales will be to people buying it as a joke, and that’s perhaps the best use of it — a perfect symbol of the NFL’s weird crossovers with music.
