my girlfriend and i tailgate, drink gin and cider out of cups. from the frat group beside us, a man corrects himself with one of his friends: bro, i mean, nonbinary entity, and it makes everyone around him laugh, myself included. he razzes his friend the same way i would have killed for at 19 years old - like nothing happened, he continues: you apply sunscreen like an alien. he does a little sassy (and fairly accurate) dance interpretation of the motion. his friend is laughing so hard they're crying.

i am lucky, i live in a safe neighborhood in a safe state. my masc passenger princess comes up from DC. i drive her for an hour to where all the leaves are a violent arrangement of color. we walk along the trails, letting autumn into our blood. in this part of the state, there's a lot of pickup trucks and trump signs. when we chastely kiss before getting into the car, i accidentally make eye contact with a woman holding her child's wrist. she looks disgusted. she looks fucking pissed.

two hours later my girl and i are eating dinner on a patio, soaking in the last warmth of new england sun before the chill of winter sets in. we are giggling and trying to talk through plastic vampire teeth. at another table, i see a young woman sit up straighter. i watch her watch us. she blushes and takes her partner's hand from across the table. shy, like the taste of evening has just become something deeper.

it's worth it for this moment, i think. my lover is still humming the same song she's been singing for four days straight and i don't want to kill her for it. her guitar is beside my bed. her toothbrush is in my bathroom. in a few moments i will make us lunch. we are lucky enough to have found each other. it is lucky enough to be in love.

I wish we had more female characters like Eleanor Shellstrop. One of the most unlikable people you've ever met. Read a Buzzfeed article on most rude things you can do on a daily basis and decided to use that as a list of goals. Makes everyone's day worse just by being there. Dropped a margarita mix on the ground and tried to pick it up, only to get hit by a row of shopping carts which pushed her into the road where she was hit by a boner pill delivery truck, killing her instantly. Cannot keep a romantic partner despite being bisexual. Had a terrible childhood but will die before she gets therapy. Best employee at a scam company. Just the worst but also can't help but root for her to improve.

Absolute loser. Girl-failure. Bad at almost everything. Literally perfect female character.

Character Intro: Niseke

Niseke Siduszik (she/her) was my first BG3 character, and probably my second favorite/most fleshed out. She is an ~570 y/o Lolth-Sworn drow draconic bloodline/great old one sorlock. She romanced Astarion (lmfao cougar) and sat in a party with Astarion (Lore bard 11/Life cleric 1 healbot build), Shadowheart (Dexadin build), and her son, Nys, an OH monk. Nys belongs to the same person who created Tin, we have way too much time on our hands and love intertwining our characters.

Niseke is a very typical Lolth drow. She brings all the negative traits of that culture to light, especially when she was plucked from Menzoberranzan and tadpoled. She is transphobic, a misandrist, power-hungry (but only she is allowed to hold power. Ascending Astarion? Absolutely not, if anyone should ascend it should be her), and overall a massive cunt to nearly anyone.

This hunger for power is her downfall in my canon universe. Instead of being tadpoled and getting a whole redemption arc through her adventuring, she rises in Lolth's favor enough to be put through her trials, which she fails. She becomes a drider, and is set in her grandmother's labyrinth to forever wander, either finding a way to kill herself or killing her grandmother to gain Lolth's favor back.

Niseke has probably the most fleshed out family lore out of all these characters. ~40 years before the events of the game, she met a wood half-elf, Ellion Ashspell, she had a fling with as he was visiting Menzoberranzan. She ended up getting pregnant and giving birth to Nys, her trans son. Soon after giving birth, she gave them up to Ellion in order to rise in the ranks in Menzoberranzan.

And yes!! She has a grandmother! I fleshed out her draconic sorcerer anscestry and she's the granddaughter of a oldass obsidian greatwyrm- Dal'Nizeke, The Forge of Sardior. Dal was originally a character I had developed for my 5e world. She is a high tier smith, creating powerful and beautiful weapons in a lucrative and overall secretive scheme that aids both sides of the Blood War. She doesn't really care who wins, she thinks it's fun to watch wars from the sidelines. She's also quite fickle: She abhors Niseke for what she did to Nys, and, alongside using the Blood War as entertainment, she torments Niseke after she gets dridered and placed in her labyrinth.

I feel like she has a lot of nuance because of her two endings. In one, she stays relatively transphobic and douchey, and in the other, she learns to accept her son and breaks away from Lolth, instead moving towards Zinzerena and living in the Underdark with Astarion and the 7k spawn they let loose.
