It is so bizarre that Teen Wolf had these great fucking actors and then never let them interact. Like, they had Michael Hogan!! Gideon Emry!!
And no conversation between them?? They did VA work for Skyrim, ffs!!
i know! i remember being super stoked that gideon emery was going to be in 3A because of fenris and than being disappointed in duecalion as a villain.
as per the usual teen wolf modus operandi the backstory is compelling and than promptly ignored and largely untapped.
how does derek encountering ennis again not warrant more than maybe a few forgettable lines to taunt derek? they made paige this life changing event pre-kate and the fire for him and did fuck all with it.
like, stiles being the one who learns about derek and paige is nice and all but imagine if ennis taunted scott about it? trying to take advantage of scott's already wishy-washy trust in derek? being all you don't know what the blue eyes mean and don't you know derek killed an innocent girl. would've made scott's trusting derek an actual character choice and developed their relationship. maybe give derek a chance to talk about paige and that event.
maybe i'm still just mad that paige and derek's trauma surrounding what happened was basically handed over to jennifer as being more important.
it would've made things more interesting if duecalion was interested in gerard argent due to their history and the alpha pack decided to show themselves in beacon hills because of what happened in s2 with gerard using the kanima and being bitten. would've given us something rather his rather frankly nebulous motives of what recruiting derek because he's talia's son??? kidnapping children???
michael hogan and gideon emery deserved to chew on more scenes.

Hey can u please do a teen wolf imagine set in season 2 where she is either Scott or stiles sister and she is sneaking around with isaac (they kinda had a thing before he got the bite and after isaac got more confident so he made a move)and isaac sneaks into her room at night and instead of Allison it’s is y/n that Matt was stalking and taking pictures of and obsessed with and he had pictures of her and isaac kissing and stuff and maybe he leaves the pictures in her locker and it freaks her out and you decide the rest. (Sorry it’s a bit dark)
Oh, I love me some Isaac!!! Forgive me if I get some details wrong, it’s been a while since I saw s2. And I’m gonna make you Scotty boi’s sister, because Melissa 🥰
You weren’t the dating type, much to the relief of your mother and your brother - and for some reason, Stiles, but you preferred to pretend that you didn’t know that. - which is why it was such a shock when you drag Isaac Lahey of all people to sit with them during lunch one day.
“I don’t think this is a good idea, Y/N-“ Isaac tires to say, shooting the boys a wary look, but you just shush him and shove him into a seat. You brightly grin at the shocked faces Scott and Stiles before confessing that you’d been dating Isaac for a while now.
Scott freezes for a full thirty seconds.
Stiles chokes on his hashbrowns, and almost dies in that same time period.
“Da- you’re dating him?” He splutters, pointing at a smirking Isaac. “You’re dating him? Oh my god, what the- Scott, say something.”
Stiles gives you a look that says ‘you’re gonna get it now’ which slowly slides off when Scott just keeps quiet, staring at you with wide eyes.
“Wha- Scott, say something.” He grits out, and you roll your eyes, tired of their dramatics.
“All right, enough! Seriously, people are staring.”
That gets Scott moving again, as he looks around to find that people are, indeed, staring. He’s still shocked because when did you start dating?? But now he’s asking questions like when did you two start dating? Why did you keep it a secret so long?
He always knew you kind of had a thing for him: all the flirty banter, and the lovelorn glances…
You and Isaac started up two months ago, you explain, but it’s been pretty low-key so that he can hide it from his dad. (You don’t outwardly say this, exchanging a specific look, but both you and Scott have been pretty sure something was going very wrong in the Lahey household — Scott had smelt blood and fear wafting off of Isaac way too often for it not to be.) So he kinda just?? Accepts it??
He’s concerned, duh, but you’re so happy and he doesn’t want to get in the way of that. But he sternly tells Isaac he’ll kick his ass if he hurts you. Isaac, to his credit, stifles his laughter and genuinely tells him that he’d rather die than hurt you; and that’s good enough for Scotty.
Of course, all of this changes when Isaac becomes a beta.
He does it for you. He wants to be able to protect you, to love you without fear of losing you or getting you in trouble. Derek’s assured him that your protection is a priority of the pack, because even in his slightly power-greedy Alpha state, Derek wouldn’t let what happened to him and Paige happen to his beta.
Stiles and Scott hover around you throughout the whole time Isaac is suspected of murdering his father. Sheriff Stilinski tried to kick them out during your questioning, but they squeezed onto the small couch in his office and just stared at him the whole time. You were shocked and scared and obviously didn’t know anything, so he sent you home pretty quick.
Melissa’s freaked out because 1) you lied to her?? 2) you’re dating now 3) and it’s a boy suspected of murder. So, yeah, maybe she’s questioning her parenting a bit, but she’s really trying to be supportive.
Scott corners Isaac at school (Stiles is there too, naturally) after the whole ice rink thing, without Erica or Derek, and he swears he’d never hurt you. Unfortunately, you walk in right at that moment.
You know when both of them are lying, so you force the truth of them, then and there. You get thrown off guard, of course — they thought you’d react like Stiles, or just like most of the people in those movies react: with a lot of surprise but general and immediate acceptance.
You do immediately do something: leave and avoid both of them for the next couple of days. Your mom’s curious as to why you’re so distant, and why Scott keeps begging you to talk to him, and why you’re avoiding him -- but ultimately, she lets sleeping dogs lie, because she hopes you’ll come to her with something really important.
You hang out with Lydia and Allison a lot more, Allison backing up for Scott by keeping you safe — she tries to defend him for you, but you make it clear you need a lot of time before you can think about that stuff. She also tries to turn you against Isaac, but you’re even more closed off to that.
Lydia is a fresh breath of air, because she is just as confused about this (even if it’s only possibilities and vague stuff) and she doesn’t wanna know more either. She keeps things light between you and Allison, and keeps your mind off of things. But it doesn’t work when Allison and the others drag you guys to your house for a weird “study session” that gets crashed by a giant lizard thing- god, this was your life now.
Isaac grabbed you, and locked you in a bathroom before the whole thing really started. You scream at him to stop, scream for Scott, and beat on his chest, but he just screws his eyes shut and forces you in there — he knows you’ll hate him afterwards, but he also knows you might run straight at the Kanima if it came for him or Scott.
You do hate him afterwards. A little part of you understands why he did it, and it’s unfortunately the same part that still loves him. But you’re still hugely pissed off, especially after Scott and Stiles tell you that he tried to kill Lydia. So the next day, when he tries to talk to you at school, you glare at him until he goes away.
In swoops Matt, all “charming” smiles and “funny” jokes. He sees his chance: months of watching you and Isaac be all cutesy had paid off. He knew what kind of humor you liked — unfortunately, all it did was remind you of your boyfriend and keep you guys at a distance.
God, he hated it. Bad enough that someone was keeping you from him, but that it was Lahey. The brother of the guy that drowned him, the son of the guy that screamed in his face about how it was his fault- no. He had to break you up.
So he consolidated all the pictures that he’d taken of you: candids of you at school, at home, at the coffee place you liked. He slips them into your locker, and watches you squirm and look around. It’s working. Then, it’s those pictures of you and Isaac, kissing at your secret spot, necking in your bedroom, smiling at each other — labels it “Remember the good times?”
You’re trying to talk about it to Scott, Allison and Stiles, but they’re busy with the Kanima. Lydia tries to help, but she’s so out of it and she has been for a while and you’re starting to get worried.
It gets to a point where you run to Isaac, tears in your eyes, and photographs in your hands. “Is this you?” You sob, and he just pulls you into his arms shushing you - “No! No, babe, I’d never do that!” - and promises to keep you safe. You stay glued to his side after that. Boyd is nice and calm, a contrast to Derek who creeps you out a little.
Through his first full moon, you stay with him and keep him grounded. Your voice keeps his father’s out of his head, keeps him in control.
You’re standing off in a corner, watching with a smirk as Erica - who you’ve gotten weirdly close to in the past few weeks - and Isaac double team Jackson (it’s actually… kinda hot? Especially because damn Isaac keeps looking at you); but your view gets obstructed by Matt. He’s trying to talk to you but you barely listen, keeping eye contact with Isaac over his shoulder. Then they leave with Jackson, and Matt makes a move on you. You flinch away so hard, you hit the counter and get the bartender’s attention.
You confront him about the pictures and he splutters for an excuse. The bartender kicks out Matt, seeing your distress, who’s now more desperate for your attention than ever.
Matt - or the Kanima- kidnaps you during Lydia’s party and keeps you in his basement. You’re scared out of your mind, begging for him to let you go, but he promises you that there won’t be anyone in your ways from now on. While everyone’s dealing with the fiasco at the police station, Isaac, Boyd and Erica come get you.
He’s trying not to cry when he sees your busted lip, the bruises around your wrists where you were tied down.
Boyd and Erica decided to leave, but Isaac didn’t want to leave you behind. So he goes to Scott and Deaton, and becomes a good guy, helps out with Jackson and everything!
He also starts living with you guys, which you’re very excited about ;) But Melissa is very careful about leaving you two alone. And Scott’s stupid senses screw you over in that he interrupts every time you get to more than kissing.
But you find ways. 😉😏😏
Hope you liked it! I think I changed a few things, and I tried to keep the canon timelines for everything, but yeah!

What did Scott McCall do to deserve a “true alpha” title exactly?
Well, to be entirely honest, that’s not how a True Alpha is supposed to work.
True Alpha (hereby referred to as TA) abilities aren’t something you ‘earn’ by doing something. If we take what Deaton and Morrell say at face value, that there’s literally no way to ‘earn’ becoming a True Alpha. No selfless act, no nothing.
It’s just something you are. Deaton describes it in “Currents” as “someone who rises purely on the strength of character, by virtue, by sheer force of will.’
Now, technically...those things don’t require you to do anything. Essentially, someone who believes they should be an Alpha strongly enough can become an Alpha. And the virtue part is weird, because it never says what virtue. There are a few.
The Seven Christian Virtues Are:
Chastity - “Purity”
Temperance - “Humanity/Compassion”
Charity - “Generosity/Sacrifice”
Diligence - “Persistence/Ethics”
Patience - “Forgiveness/Mercy”
Kindness - “Satisfaction/Compassion again”
Humility - “Bravery/Modesty”
Now, there are two ways of looking at this. Either a True Alpha must be “Virtuous,” as in, someone who has ALL seven virtues. OR, a True Alpha must fully embody ONE virtue”
Now, if it were the case of the first, that...doesn’t make much sense. Scott isn’t pure in like..any sense of the word? He’s not sexually pure (though that doesn’t actually exist, obviously) but he’s also not free of jealousy. And you can’t even say that just because he IS jealous doesn’t mean he’s not pure because he never acted on it, because HE DID. MULTIPLE TIMES. He tried to attack Jackson and Allison when they were talking in the car. He insisted on playing lacrosse when Lydia told him she’d introduce Allison to the other members of the team.
The same things happens when you look at any of the other virtues. It isn’t that he just has bad thoughts and then that’s it. It’s that he acts on those thoughts and insecurities and commits violence and acts against other people in the name of securing his superiority/power. He doesn’t show a lick of compassion with Derek’s Betas, outright telling Erica that he doesn’t care why she wanted the bite. Telling Boyd that he’d made a mistake in liking Derek and implying that being lonely was a stupid reason to want the bite. Even making the claim that Isaac had bloodlust even though Isaac hadn’t lost control since he’d been bitten when had to at least have been one day, and even though Isaac clearly didn’t lose control in front of any officers the entire time he was being interrogated about his father’s abuse and death, only losing it after the moon went up, and only to stop a hunter from killing him.
I won’t go on with every single virtue, but the evidence is there.
Now, let’s go one step further into the possible reasoning behind him being a TA. Maybe, you say, maybe Scott didn’t become a TA before S3 because of those previous things he did. When he went against the virtues, he couldn’t become a TA. But then in S3 he’s doing So Much Better, so then he gets to become a TA.
Except he doesn’t. Yes, in S3A he’s shown to be suddenly much wiser, because he apparently spent the summer reading and working on self-improvement. But it doesn’t mean that he doesn’t continue to do extremely immoral things throughout the season, right down to pettily helping Isaac and Allison play a prank on the Twins that would get them in major trouble and lying to the people around him so he could go have a secret meeting with Deucalion.
And this isn’t even me trying to diss Scott. The ENTIRE POINT of the Seven virtues is that NO ONE can be perfect. No one can embody all of these virtues at once. Humans are FLAWED. The problem here is that if we don’t make the Virtuous part required to become a TA then it’s just FAR too easy to do.
If “sheer force of will” is enough to become an Alpha, if occasionally doing immoral things doesn’t totally negate your ability to ‘rise up’ (even though Alphas aren’t better. They’re canonically just one branch. One option. Alpha, Beta, and Omega aren’t ever specified as one being better than the other. Hell, Scott’s an Omega until he Gets the Alpha eyes, since he never joins Derek’s pack, and he isn’t even weakened by it) then PETER HALE should’ve become an Alpha.
You don’t get a force of will stronger than Screaming into the woods about “I Will Always Be The Alpha.”
But Tali, you say, Peter killed someone and we all know that killing someone means you can’t become a TA.
Well, First, I’ll point out that Scott came up with that idea on his own. No one told him that. He just said it in the meeting with Morrell “But if I kill someone, I can’t become a True Alpha, right?”.
Now, maybe Deaton told him that, and he’s just repeating something that was said offscreen. After all, Morrell does respond with “Exactly.” So maybe that is a rule.
But see, if that’s a rule, then Deaton was sabatoging Scott in Season 2.
Remember? Deaton helped Scott switch out Gerard’s pills with mountain ash. They were Actively Murdering a Cancer Patient. If Deaton “believed” “From the moment” Scott was bitten that he would be a TA, then wouldn’t that mean that S2 was ENTIRELY him trying to take away the TA potential from Scott? If That plan had worked? Scott would never have been able to become an Alpha.
OH, you say, but Scott didn’t technically kill Gerard, even if the pills worked. It was Derek and the mountain ash. Scott never touched him.
BUT, if that’s the case, then AGAIN literally ANYONE who truly believes they should be able to become an Alpha should become a TA. When you twist the definitiion of ‘killing’ like that, Derek should’ve been able to be a TA before he killed Peter. TeCHniCAllY Derek didn’t kill Paige, Ennis’ bite did. He was saving her from the pain.
And so, you end up playing so many different games trying to make TA’s special and rare, only to make them IMPOSSIBLE to become, but that leaves you with two, maybe three choices. Either you Remove the TA idea altogether, you admit that anybody can become a TA and you give it to the other characters who match the criteria, or you turn the ONE character you want to give it to into a LITERAL SAINT.
And they didn’t even do that correctly, because Scott isn’t perfect in S3 or beyond. He ISN’T a saint, and he does admit that regularly, though it’s not with any amount of humility or wish to grow as a person.
So it’s no wonder that nobody likes the True Alpha concept. It doesn’t make any fucking sense.

Teen Wolf triads are something that can be so personal, so here’s a list of my faves
Scott/Stiles/Allison
The OG trio. The gang that dies together might not stay together, but they’re still iconic.
Scott/Stiles/Lydia
Any Scott/Stiles/X dynamic is brilliant, but few more than this one. These three have been there since the beginning and they’ve gone through so much together. There’s no Teen Wolf without them.
Scott/Stiles/Derek
They were the driving force in S1&2 and had some absolutely iconic moments together. Hate that there wasn’t more of them after that.
Scott/Derek/Isaac
Mostly based on S2/3. I was very invested in Isaac’s struggle to pick between these two.
Scott/Stiles/Isaac
This triad’s dynamic completely changes between S2 and 3. In Season 2, Isaac, as part of Derek’s pack is a slightly antagonistic figure and it’s very much Scott&Stiles vs Isaac but in S3, Scott and Isaac grow closer while Isaac and Stiles erm, don’t. It’s very fun to watch.
Scott/Isaac/Allison
My ot3 and the only trio on this list that I 100% ship.
Isaac/Erica/Boyd
Ayy, it’s the OG Hale Pack aka 3 teens bonding over being thrown headfirst into something they weren’t prepared for and Derek’s horrible leadership. Isaac should’ve ran away with Erica and Boyd for solidarity’s sake.
Chris/Allison/Isaac
Chris’s struggle between hating Isaac for dating his daughter and wanting to adopt him is hilarious. One of my favourites.
Scott/Melissa/Isaac
Who didn’t completely melt at Isaac joining the McCall fam? The scene where they’re ‘guarding’ Melissa was so cute. As a bonus, it made Stiles’s animosity towards Isaac that much stronger. Will forever hate that this trio was more or less non-existent in 3b even though I love Chris/Allison/Isaac.
Derek/Cora/Peter
The non-dead Hales. Why oh why did Cora have to leave? Their family dynamic was great.
Allison/Lydia/Cora
I know they only had a couple scenes as a triad, but there was so potential. We love antagonism with underlying sexual tension. And ofc, the only thing better than 1 terrifying badass that can secretly be super sweet is 3 terrifying badasses.
Derek/Isaac/Boyd
At one point, the only non-dead members of the Hale Pack (TW quickly amended that). I always think of the S3a Loft scene where Boyd and Isaac skip school to protect Derek. Despite how awful of an alpha Derek’s been, they still care about him and he cares about them (as actual people and not just betas that he needs for power like he did originally)
Derek/Allison/Lydia.
Yes it’s my 5th s3 based trio in a row, but can you blame me? This is 100% based off the classroom scene in 3x02.
Allison/Lydia/Jackson
Although Lydia and Jackson were both awful in S1, their friendship with Allison and their immediately taking her under their wing was beyond precious. Additionally, it combines both the asshole-who’s-soft-towards-1-person- dynamic (jydia w/ allison) and assholes-who-secretly-care-about-each-other (jydia) And ofc, the underlying tension due to Jydia’s disdain towards Scott and later, Jackson and Allison’s experiences/knowledge of the supernatural.
Malia/Kira/Lydia
Comedy gold. Their scenes speak for themselves and we needed more.
Liam/Mason/Corey
Their S6a dynamic is sooo underrated and should’ve been given more screen time. I loved watching Liam and Corey struggle to get along for Mason’s sake because they want him to be happy. It was all very wholesome and one of the few things that made 6a worth watching.
Stiles/Scott/Liam
Aka the best part of S4.Their dynamic is so fun and well-balanced and infinitely better because they’re a triad. You’ve got Scott and Liam figuring out their mentor/mentee relationship with Stiles co-parenting and preventing the Scott/Liam dynamic from turning unhealthy. (Liam and Scott’s S6 dynamic veered way too close to parent/child for my taste. They need Stiles to balance it out) It’s also hilarious how quickly Liam accepts being aggressively adopted by two idiots who are barely older than him. And Stiles takes so easily to playing older brother/co-parent. It’s adorable. They’re adorable.
Erica/Allison/Lydia
Very similar dynamic to Allison/Lydia/Cora due to Cora and Erica’s similar personalities but also not, which has a lot to do with Allison and Lydia’s reactions to Erica’s weaponized feminity. Also, there’s a lot more history between these girls and I want to know everything about what Erica thinks of Lydia after going to school with her for years.
Sherriff/Melissa/Chris
Of the top of my head, I can only remember that time where they were trapped under the Nemeton and that’s simply unacceptable.
Sheriff/Noshiko/Melissa.
It’s a crime that this triad never got scenes. Especially after the Sheriff tried to arrest Kira. I know Melissa bitch slapped him but I wanted to watch these two badasses gang up on the Sheriff together. ( the Noshiko/Melissa dynamic would be so iconic.)
Victoria/Noshiko/Melissa
Another triad that never shared scenes (obviously because Vic is dead) but their power would’ve been off the charts. I want to make a joke about milfs, but I’ll refrain.
The Yukimura fam
Seemed appropriate since my last two also included. Noshiko.I love family dynamics and the Yukimuras are no exception. The attraction of this triad, for me, is mostly the dynamic between Kira and Noshiko and how Ken navigates between them. They’re also a trio that we didn’t see nearly enough of in S4 and 5. Like seriously, where were they? Noshiko’s on the dead pool, but she’s barely mentioned. (on a mostly unrelated note, how is the 900 yr old Kitsune worth less than a girl that just found about her kitsune powers?)
Derek/Allison/Scott
I don’t need to explain this one. The angst, the drama, Derek projecting Kate onto Allison and Allison trying to murder Derek and their evolution to reluctant allies with a good dash of Scallison and Scott navigating his own difficult relationship with Derek. Aka the complicated, tension fraught trio we all loved/should love. ( ok, I kind of explained it)
Derek/Scott/Liam
And here we have a two for one deal; two mentor/mentee dynamics in 1 triad. People much smarter than me have written about this trio in extensive detail, so all I’m saying is that Derek’s that one uncle who occasionally comes around and gives somewhat helpful advice.
Braeden/Malia/Scott
Braeden and Scott were great in S4. Braeden and Malia were great in S5. Scott and Malia are pretty great when they’re not in a relationship. Combine, and you get what had to be a kick-ass triad that’s sadly never canonly shown together (I think)
Melissa/Chris/Isaac
Not actually featured in the show, but Isaac deserves all the parental figures and I want to witness the surely epic custody battle between Chris and Melissa.
Malia/Scott/Peter
That this trio is on here is actually pretty funny because I hate both Scalia and the forced Peter/Malia bonding in S6. But I loved the scene where Peter warned Malia not to fall in love with Scott because a) he has absolutely 0 right to advise her on anything and b) because of the history between Scott and Peter. In a way, a relationship with Malia is just another thing tying Scott to someone that’s repeatedly caused harm to him and his friends and was the initial cause for all the pain he’s suffered in the last couple years. I just find this dynamic worth exploring.
Malia/Derek/Peter
The Hales 2.0. Derek and Malia deserve to bond over unwillingly being related to Peter, that scumbag.
Malia/Stiles/Peter
Stiles and Peter are so fun together and Stalia is my jam. Throw in an antagonistic Malia and Peter relationship and they’re entertaining as hell. Much more lighthearted than Malia/Scott/Peter.
Stiles/Malia/Lydia
To clarify, this has nothing to do with a love triangle and everything to do with how their personalities play off each other. It’s one of those trios where together, they’re either terrifying or absolute morons.
Stiles/Cora/Derek
Admittedly, my version of this is very Sterek+Cora and the hilarity of Stiles and his attraction to Hales but it’s also 3x snark and you really can’t go wrong.
Scott/Stiles/Melissa
It’s Melissa and her boys 1.0. This woman is by far the best parent on this show, and I love the specific dynamic among these three. Melissa might not always like Stiles, but she cares about him and there’s the mutual understanding that they both adore Scott and would do anything for him. Also, Mel being exasperated by the dumbass duo is always funny.
Kate/Allison/Chris
Lowkey another custody battle because Kate and Chris do fight to be the bigger influence on Allison This is such a tragic trio to me, and the lesson here is basically that sometimes love isn’t enough. Chris and Kate both genuinely love Allison and she loves them too but can’t have both and at some point, she has neither. Kate and Chris care about each other, but that’s not enough either. In the end, they all lose each other. There’s no happy ending for them, at least not with each other.
Derek/Stiles/Peter
Stiles just has chemistry (not necessarily romantic) with all Hales and this trio really shines through in 3x01 and in S3 in general. “Chess is Stiles’s game” asgdhfjgh. I wanted more of that very specific dynamic.
That was a hell lot longer than I thought it would be, but what can you do. Feel free to tell me your own opinions in the tags/comments.

S2 07 | Restraint
BIG MASTERLIST | TW REWRITE
Stiles Stilinski x Reader! Half-sibling!Mccall
Word count:
Warnings: Mentions of injuries, murder, swearing (always).
A/N: This is more likely a filler chapter. I swear as chapters go on they get better! I’m so excited for those ones to come out!
↪ PLEASE RESPECT MY WORK. DON’T COPY, TRANSLATE OR CLAIM THEM AS YOURS. NOT ON THIS WEBSITE OR ANOTHER. ALL RIGHTS ARE RESERVED.
"You will not go within 50 feet of Jackson Whittemore. You will not speak to him. You will not approach him. You will not assault or harass him physically or psychologically." Noah Stilisnki glanced at us with deception. It broke my heart to see him feeling so ashamed of us. If only he knew everything that was going on.
Jackson had told his father about us, and now Scott, Stiles, and I had a restraint order.
The Hazel-eyed boy gazed around. "What about school?"
"You can attend classes while attempting to maintain a 50 - foot distance."
"Bu-. Okay, what if we both have to use the bathroom at the same time and there's only two stalls available and they're only right next to each other?" Mr. Stilisnki, Melissa, and Jackson's dad sighed, crossing their arms over their chest. "I'll just hold it."
Stiles was bickering with his dad. "Move," Melissa pushed Scott and me slightly. She focused her gaze on her son. "It's not just this. Although, a restraining order is a new low that I didn't think that you would reach quite this soon. It's everything on top of it. The completely behaviour, the late nights coming home, having to beg Mr. Harris for you to make up that chemistry test that you missed." She now looked at me. "I truly didn't expect you to follow whatever these two had in mind while preparing such a stupid joke to Jackson." I felt a pang on my chest, biting my lower lip, deciding that it was better to remain silent.
"I missed a chemistry test?"
"Really, Scott? Really? I have to ground you. I am grounding you. You are grounded." Her eyes again on me. "That goes for you too, young lady. I have to ground you too." I nodded.
"What about work?"
"Fine.Other than work. And no TV."
"My TV's broken." And I didn't watch TV.
"Then no computer."
"I need the computer for school." True.
"Then no, uh, no Stiles."
"What?!" Stiles and I snapped at the same time.
"No Stiles?!" Said boy came closer to us.
"No Stiles!" She shouted, making me and the boy back up. Damn, Melissa was quite scary when she yelled. "And no more car privileges. Give me your keys. Give 'em to me!" Her hands shook a little as she tried to take the car key. "Oh, for the love of God."
"Mom, you want me to-"
"No."
"Mom, come on, let me just, mom. Mom!" He grabbed her trembling hands.
"What is going on with you? Is this about Allison?"
"Do you really wanna know?
"Yeah. Is this about your father?" Stiles nodded in the back, telling Scott to lie. I was too distracted by the mention of our sperm donor. "It is, isn't it? Okay, you know what, um-. We'll talk about this at home. I'm gonna go get the car." It made me think. Why did he leave Scott and Melissa?
"So did you guys get into much trouble?" Allison asked me, her right hand tightly clutching her bag. "Melissa seems like a woman who has a strong attitude."
"She does." I nodded. "She took Scott's car keys, TV, my radio, and no Stiles." I pouted. I opened the door of the library, motioning for her to go first. She grinned at me.
"Woah, no Stiles." She winked while I looked at her confused. "Must be hard for you."
"Uh? What do you mean?" She didn't answer, gazing at the camera that was installed on the top of the wall, walking directly to a determined place. I wanted to ask her again, but if the Argents knew that she was talking to me, hell would break. That is why when we entered the library, I walked away from her, finding Scott and Stiles.
I smiled at both boys, Allison separated from us by a big shelf. From one of the spaces between the books, she slid a tablet. "It's everything Lydia can translate. And trust me, she was very confused."
"Yeah, what'd you tell her?"
"That we were part of an online gaming community that battles mythical creatures." She replied, making Scott chuckle.
"I am part of an online gaming community that battles mythical creatures." He gazed at both of them, feeling insulted.
"I-I do too." Stiles's head turned towards me as he heard my confession.
"You do?" I nodded. "Want to come to my house and play together? We could complete all the missions, I'm already on the second part of the new event that finishes on-"
"No way!" I interrupted him. "It started one month ago! How did you get so far?"
Scott grinned, interrupting our passionate talk about our online community. "Okay, does it say how to find out who's controlling him?"
"Not really. But Stiles was right about the murderers."
"Yes!" His aggressive gesture celebrating that he was right almost hit me on the face.
"It calls the Kanima a weapon of vengeance. There's a story in there about this South American priest who uses the Kanima to execute murderers in his village."
"All right, see? So maybe it's not all that bad." I nodded along.
"Until the bond grew strong enough that it killed whoever he wanted it to."
I groaned, punching Stiles's arm playfully. "Why did you have to talk so soon?"
"All bad, all very, very bad."
"Here's the thing, though. The Kanima's actually supposed to be a werewolf. But it can't be-" Allison couldn't finish her sentence as the person in charge of the library got closer to her, trying to organize some books.
"Until it resolves that in its past which manifested it." Scott finished fo her. A chill ran through my body, I knew what was in my past.
"Okay, if that means that Jackson could use a few thousand hours of therapy, I could've told you that myself." If I was the same as Jackson, a Kanima. Would I be a werewolf after discovering what manifested this all?
"What if- It has something to do with his parents? His real parents." That could be me too. Jackson and I could have ended up being this monster for similar reasons.
"Yeah, does anybody actually know what happened to them?"
"Lydia might."
"What if she doesn't know anything?"
"Well, he doesn't have a restraining order against me, so- I'll talk to him myself." That wasn't a good idea. Jackson wouldn't be able to control his instincts if he was mad. And yeah, Allison was a pretty great hunter, but she could still get killed.
"Okay, what do I do?"
"You have a make-up exam, remember?" She grabbed his hand. "Promise me."
"Are they going to have sex right now? Here?" Stiles chuckled after my comment, grabbing my hand, taking me away from them to give privacy.
Scott was trying to past the chemistry test that he didn't attend, and I hoped that he would pass it. Stiles had spent the night before it helping him as much as possible, without Melissa knowing, of course. Remember, no Stiles.
Allison went to talk with Jackson and Stiles with Lydia. Allison didn't let me go with her, saying that she could protect herself, but I felt like something was going to be wrong. Stiles decided that Lydia would shy away if we went in a group to talk to her, so I was resting my back against the lockers while he followed the strawberry blonde girl.
I heard the ticking of a clock inside my head, I groaned. "Y/N?" Scott? Was I hearing Scott inside my head? "Allison needs me. Go get Stiles, he is in trouble. Keep an eye on him?"
"What about your exam?"
"They need me. She needs me, please."
"Go get Allison," I whispered aloud. I started walking fastly, trying to find Stiles. I did, and he was following Erica.
"You can't tell Derek, okay? There's a lot more to this that you don't know about. And just because you got the Alpha bite makeover doesn't give you a license to go around destroying people."
"Why not? That's all anybody ever used to do to me. I used to have the worst crush in the world on you. Yeah, you, Stiles. And you never once even noticed me. Exactly how you're not noticing me right now." Her hand rested on his chest, and I could feel hot all over. I didn't think twice, walking fastly to them, grabbing her wrist.
"I told you," I growled. "Don't touch-"
I was interrupted when the boy's locker room opened, Scott flying in the air, falling brutally into the ground, groaning. Jackson jumped on him, not being able to control himself. I ended up jumping on top of Jackson, trying to free Scott from him. But Whittemore punched me on the chin. Still, I continued fighting until Erica grabbed Jackson, and Stiles grasped me, lifting me from the floor. His arms were tight around my waist, mouth near my ear, letting me know that my eyes were ice blue. "Close them. Close your eyes. Breathe with me." He whispered.
We all ended up getting detention, Jackson had gone out of the room. He was pale and crazily sweating. When he came back, he still looked like he was going to pass out. Mr. Harris had left us on our own, letting us know that we needed to organize the library. I hated that dude.
Erica had let us know that Jackon's parents died in a car accident. Her father was the insurance investigator. Every time he sees Jackson drive his Porsche, he makes some comment about the huge settlement he'll be getting when he's 18. During all this, Stiles was sitting next to her, and she tried to lowkey flirt with him.
Ugh.
"It means he was born after his mom died by c-section. They had to pull him out of her dead body."
"So was it an accident or not?" Allison and I were staring at Jackson while organizing some books. The sooner we finished, the sooner we could get the hell out here.
"The word all over the report is inconclusive."
"Then his parents could have been murdered?" My parents weren't killed. My mom was a murderer, and my dad was an asshole who didn't have the heart to take care of any of his kids.
"If they were, then it falls in line with the kanima myth. You know? It seeks out and kills murderers."
"Then what about me?" I whispered.
"You aren't a kanima," Hazel-eyes peered deep into mine. "I told you before. We would have known that you were the Kanima like we knew that Jackson was." His hand rested on my back. "Don't worry about that. We will continue investigating."
After comforting me, Scott decided that we had to talk to Jackson. They continued talking, but I decided to ignore them. I felt dizzy, so I continued grabbing books, placing them where they belonged. My eyes went to read the title of the book 'Close your eyes, Y/N'. I blinked, a couple of times until those words disappeared, and the real title of the book appeared.
I grabbed another book, glancing at it. 'Obey or they die.'
"Stiles," I grabbed his arm, but he was trying to talk to Allison and Scott, deciding what to do with Jackson. "Stiles," He finally looked at me, a questioning look on his face. "W-What is the title of this book?"
He grabbed the books from my arms, still confused. "To kill a mockingbird." I nodded after his reply, smiling and placing the book where it belonged. I walked around, trying to find Jackson. But I found Matt, laying on the floor, blood dripping from the back of his neck.
"What the heck?" I heard Scott behind me when I turned around to look at him, glass shattered from above us, books falling. Scott threw his body on me, trying to shield me from the glass. "You okay?" I nodded my head, then he called for Erica. We heard her scream, and then, a thud.
We both quickly got up from the floor. We had to check on Erica, Allison, and Stiles. Stiles, was he okay?
Scott ran to Allison, and Stiles asking both of them if they were alright. I took a step to go to them but was stopped by Jackson. Half of his face was squamous, yellow eyes. He pushed me with incredible strength, my back hitting something, making me groan in pain.
Stiles clutched my hand, moving me to them. "Hey, hey. You okay?" His worried eyes examined every part of my face.
"Hurts like a bitch." I answered, grinning to lower his anxiety. Jackson was now acting odd, he was acting like the kanima. He was being controlled. He began writing on a blackboard "STAY OUT OF MY WAY OR I'LL KILL ALL OF YOU." Then he flew out of the library, smashing his body against a window.
We got into our feet, Stiles and I running towards Erica while the other two were too focused on the board. "Whoa, hey, hey, hey, hey! I think she's having a seizure." Stiles took Erica into his arms.
"He's alive." Allison checked Matt's pulse.
"Hey, we need to get her to a hospital."
"Derek - only to Derek." Even if her body was shaking, she just wanted to go to Hale.
"When we get her to the hospital-"
"To Derek. To Derek."
"Go." Allison looked deeply into my- Scott's eyes.
"I'm staying here with you."
"He can't take her alone. Not like this. And Matt - I've got to call an ambulance for him, just go."
"Guys," I interrupted. "Take Erica to Derek, now. I will stay here with Allison," I gazed at Scott, who was utterly anxious. "We will be alright." I felt other eyes on me when I turned my head I was met with Stiles's eyes. "Taker her to Derek, okay? Then, come back to me." He nodded.

STEREK + TRUST + DEREK'S ANCHOR
TW//Mentions of Sexual Abuse and Pedophilia
Since ya girl decided to torture herself and rewatch Teen Wolf (up till season 4/before it went downhill) I'm only up to S2 but I wanted to talk about Stiles being Derek's Anchor since the show basically forgot about it and there are instances in the first few Seasons that give it substances.
Let me start by saying even if it was a chance to bait Sterek lovers, ships aside I think it would've been brilliant and it would've actually made sense with the storyline and previous encounters.
If Derek's Anchor before was anger it pulled him back because of past experiences. Because of what happened with Paige, what happened with Kate and then his family, then Laura, Peter, and Cora. I feel like these are all situations in which he blamed himself for the terrible outcomes and he was always angry. He always had anger to latch onto he never quite had a person to be that for him like others because they would always be gone soon after.
Now here's the thing Derek was angry and many of the reasons he faults himself is because he put his trust in someone only to be betrayed.
Peter put the idea in his head about Paige
Kate preyed on him, gained his trust, manipulated him, sexually abused him just so she could kill his pack.
Derek trusted Peter and Peter turned out to be the one who killed his only other known living family member.
So I think prior to Season 1 and following the seasons events he hadn't really had someone he could count on so he continued to rely on anger.
3 Seasons in and I think that changed. In fact it could be argued that Season2 was the start. When Derek is stuck in the pool with Stiles he mentions they don't trust eachother. And Stiles immediately proves he worthy of his trust. Not only that but Stiles proved he was worthy by protecting Derek's Pack too which is no doubt important especially to an Alpha and someone like Derek.
Jumping ahead to Season 3 when Derek is forced to kill Boyd and Stiles is there to comfort her despite the fact that Cora was right there. I feel like that moment of comfort basically sealed the deal. Stiles I think is the only person Derek put his trust in (before the dream in 3B finalie) that actually came thru and didn't betray him in the end. I think it came down to the fact that he could let his guard down and know he would still be okay and for someone who has been thru what he has that could mean a lot.
Also some good proof is when he believes Stiles over Jennifer who had all this influence over him. All it took was one look. If we compare it to the previous season where he trusts Scott only to have Scott betray him. I feel like if anything it would make sense that he would question Scott. Scott would need proof. Stiles did not hence why Derek didn't ask.
I think if they continued with it, Stiles being Derek's Anchor would've been a good storyline. Derek has had an arch dealing with trust. We see it with flashbacks and in the present situations so it makes sense that the solution to all his anger is to find someone who wouldn't put him in those situations. The one person he would trust entirely would be the person he could depend on to pull him back. He trusts Stiles.
And if I'm remembering incorrectly I apologize I will probably come back after my rewatch.

thinkin about how fucking phenomenal teen wolf season 3a would’ve been if they’d stretched it out to the full 24 episodes. Like, look don’t get me wrong, 3a is a Good season - it’s definitely my favourite alongside s2 and i think it’s the closest to the fanon pack dynamic that we ever came. Likewise, I just finished rewatching it and I can definitely admit some of the plot holes we pored over while it was airing don’t seem nearly as massive when you binge-watch BUT they could’ve done so much more if they’d actually dedicated the whole season run to it instead of just half.
Imagine it. There was such a strong big bad storyline with the darach, I still remember eating up every single theory fandom came up with from looking into celtic mythology and the druids and they could’ve played on the mystery of it so fucking well!!! Like really drawn it out and left smaller hints along the way for us (and the characters) to pick up on so that there was still this constant underlying tension even if the episode didn’t include a sacrifice. and then ofc this also introduced the concept of the emissary which could’ve been delved into so much more (as well as the possibility of stiles being the pack emissary) had they had more time to explore how deaton/morrell became emissaries and how that role was fulfilled within the pack as well as the past between Kali/Jennifer. Not to mention Harris. it’s been years and i’m still so annoyed we never found out what he actually knew and how he was connected to everything asdkjh
Also. 3a was massive for really forming the pack and having each of the characters make personal connections with each other. we had so many new dynamics even if they only got one or two scenes - isaac/allison, lydia/cora, lydia/derek, scott/isaac, derek/cora, boyd/cora, stiles/cora, melissa/sheriff/chris - as well as more fleshing out of pre-existing dynamics from earlier seasons - scott/stiles/derek, scott/stiles, stiles/derek, derek/isaac/boyd, allison/lydia, lydia/stiles, scott/allison, scott/lydia. Imagine if there’d been more breathing room given to these dynamics where we could’ve seen these crucial moments of development. eg. scott literally almost died and wouldn’t let himself heal bc he thought he was responsible for derek’s death yet we didn’t see the moment they reunited after he found out derek was alive.
On that note: we could’ve actually had follow-ups on the stuff that did matter. We found out this crushing backstory about boyd in motel california only for him to die an episode later in currents. we could’ve seen the characters have an opportunity to mourn erica (and later boyd) rather than the action propelling them forward without a chance to breathe (even just one scene of derek, isaac and boyd having a conversation about erica would’ve been Enough). we could’ve seen stiles broaching the topic of paige with derek since they made it seem So significant that stiles didn’t believe peter and wanted the truth from derek himself. these are all just examples off the top of my head but again, all of these moments wouldn’t have just furthered personal character development but strengthened the bonds between the characters involved. and the strength of the pack is ultimately where we leave off at the end of 3a so SHOW more of that!!!!!!
Just sdkfjkskdj 3a could’ve been PERFECT but it was too full. between the alpha pack and the darach and the main ensemble cast there was too much there. It was a goldmine of possibilities (as evidenced by the hundreds of novel length fics people wrote based on even the tiniest morsel of 3a canon) which meant we did get these moments of absolute perfection but that also sometimes they never got re-visited again because there just wasn’t time!!!!!
TL;DR 3a came out seven fucking years ago but rewatching it just reignited a visceral feeling in me of how much it was and could’ve been absolutely everything
#teen wolf#teen wolf rewatch#mine#i'm just letting you all know i feel like i need to deep dive back into tw discussion again if anyone wants to lmao#i love 3a so much the potential is astounding no wonder we produced like 20000 fucking fics in 2013 sajkdfhsa

Gee, why won’t Scott just submit to Derek ...
I was going through some older pro-scott posts, and of course a Scott hater had to come on the post to whine about it.
One of the things that hit me, was their claim that they ‘liked Scott in s1, but that in s2 ‘Scott didn’t ask for help’, and ‘helped everyone except for Derek’
And it made me remember that when they say that, what they actually meant was ‘Scott didn’t submit to Derek’
See, in s1, Scott despite Derek’s bad behavior, was desperate enough to accept Derek’s ‘help’, put up with Derek’s abuse, and despite Stiles advising it against him, let Derek ‘train’ him. Which basically came down to letting Derek beat him up in a way that was in no way helpful to actually teaching Scott how to control his shift.
But what these people forget, is that by the end of s1, Derek betrayed Scott. not just in Code Breaker, which if you stretch canon, can be claimed to be for Scott’s own good. (you know if you ignore the lying, manipulation and so on...)
But no, Code Breaker wasn’t the real problem. ‘Co-Captain’ was. Derek went with Stiles to the clinic to find out who’d sent that text to Allison to lure her to the school, and found out that Peter was the alpha.
At that point Derek had a choice, to keep standing up to Peter, but he didn’t.
So when Scott next faced Derek, he was shocked to find out that not only was Peter the Alpha, but to see Derek stand there and side with Peter. To have Derek stand by and do nothing as Peter violated Scott, and forced his memories of the fire into Scott’s mind. And even worse... they then left this half naked sixteen year old boy writhing on the floor after this assault, abandoning him to anyone who might have found him there.
Could you imagine how many fics there would be about that utter horrifying betrayal, if it had happened to Derek? Or hell, to Stiles? Or Isaac?
But because it happened to Scott, most people seem to utterly forget it, and then they wonder why in s2, Scott didn’t trust Derek, and wouldn’t accept him as his Alpha?
And to go back to Codebreaker. I’m saying that the betrayal in Code Breaker wasn’t as bad as the one in Co-Captain, but it came on top of the first one. Especially since it happened after Scott was still willing to save Derek, despite Stiles trying to get in the way of it. Scott risked himself, knowing the Argents were already after him, to go save Derek from them.
And to then find out that either Derek had lied to him about a cure all along, or he really didn’t know it wasn’t a cure, and then took Scott’s only hope of a cure away from him. Either option is just as horrifyingly bad. Yet at no point did Derek try to explain himself, or apologize in anyway..
So then we come to s2.
Derek has betrayed Scott, he has basically made it clear he can’t be trusted in any real way. And on top of that in s201 Gerard makes it clear that he’s throwing out the Code. That he’ll kill any werewolf in town, regardless of age, regardless of how or why they got the bite. Scott knows that Derek heard this threat, since Derek was holding him back from saving that Omega.
And to then find out that, regardless of this clear threat to any werewolf in town, Derek decided to manipulate three other teens into taking the bite, directly risking their lives. (and as we find out later from Boyd, he didn’t fully explain this threat to them) To not even start on Derek’s treatment of Jackson, or Derek’s attempted murder of Lydia.
Yet somehow, all of that, still isn’t seen as reason enough for Scott to not just submit to Derek, and do whatever Derek tells him to? Scott is supposed to just submit to this violent abusive white man, who has done nothing to Scott, but betray him, endanger other kids Scott knows as classmates and make stupid mistake after stupid mistake, with no plan whatsoever to deal with Gerard?
People complain that Scott trusted Theo in 5a, yet based on the information Scott actually had, Theo did more to earn Scott’s trust in 5a, than Derek ever did in s1-s3a.
And this is where fanon becomes the problem. because most fanfics don’t deal with canon Derek; They don’t deal with creepy violent abusive anti-hero Derek of s1 or full on villain Derek of s2. They try and paint him as this sweet stoic guy who meant well, ignoring his actual behavior. And showing more sympathy for the full grown white man, than they do for the Latino teenager who has to put up with Derek’s horrible treatment of him.
Because of this, they also ignore that the easiest solution for Scott, to get rid of both Derek and Gerard, and the threat they both posed to him, would have been to use them against one another.
All Scott had to do, was tell Gerard where Derek was hiding. Simple solution, hand Derek over to Gerard; hell, in Battlefield, Gerard was threatening not just Scott’s Mom, Scott’s best friend, and everyone else on or around the field. And Scott had already been told by Isaac that Boyd and Erica had already run off, so as far as he knew they’d have been safe. All Scott had to do was tell Gerard the location of Derek’s hide out, and send Gerard after Derek.
Scott already knew that the moment Gerard managed to get the bite from Derek, that he’d be taken down.
Easy fix, easy sollution.
But did Scott do so? No. Despite the threat, Scott still refused to give up and/or betray derek.
Because despite everything Derek had done to him and others, Scott still cared about him, and wanted to protect him.
But I guess that doesn’t matter, does it?
#Scott McCall#anti Derek#well not really since one of the great things about Derek is his redemption out of this horrid behavior#but ah well#Scott mccall defense squad#Scott McCall deserves better

I’m sorry you’re still feeling exhausted. I hope work wasn’t too terrible today, and that the weekend lets you rest up a bit (if you get normal weekends. working in retail I try not to assume.) Also, this is likely to just be a short(-ish) collection of unconnected musings, but I felt like sharing them anyway, and really you should be used to that from me at this point. XD So, first off that tree painting is GORGEOUS. I mean, I tend to be kinda partial to that whole tree silhouette type aesthetic, so I’m probably slightly biased. But still. (And the background shading… <3 ) Also, ngl, the backlit keyboard keeps making me think of that video of Henry Cavill assembling his new computer that’s making the rounds. That is not meant as a complaint of any sort, mind you, merely an observation.
Speaking of hot scruffy dudes who are actually massive dorks, did you SEE Ian’s most recent Insta pic?! (the non-cowboy hat one) Omg, I don’t know why he keeps complaining about how it’s starting to look like TW Season One hair like it’s some sort of bad thing. (The longer the hair, the better the grip you can get. […uh…wait, what?… ’>.> ]) That pic just screams OUAT sequel to me. Out here looking all shaggy and windblown and peaceful and content. Proud Alpha Dad Peter spending quality time with his family/pack. How very dare he spring this on an unsuspecting public with no warning? I was not prepared. (Also, Sinqua and Holland commenting on it just ups the adorable factor that much more.)
Also, was looking at a few sites lately in consideration of ordering a few more masks for work, found this print on one of them and almost laughed myself absolutely stupid. I don’t know why it was just so funny to me, but I hope it cheers you as much as it did me. Btw, it’s available on an impressive variety of items, including two types of notebooks, t-shirts, mugs, blankets, pillows, beach towels, shower curtains, rugs, bath mats, several styles of bags, phone cases, and assorted types of wall art (sadly not on a mask, however. I was deeply disappointed.) I can see any number of items ending up in the Haleargentski household, bought by assorted non-wolf members for assorted wolf members, because they are a family of assholes. (I feel like the first gift was a travel mug to Peter from his darling husbands, then a t-shirt [on black ofc] from Peter to Derek, and then it just all snowballed from there.)
Today’s literally-just-appeared-out-of-nowhere-wtf-brain thought is (much like the French maid thing) definitely of the nsfw variety, so consider yourself duly warned if you have a shift today. Because I mean we talked about Chris and Noah using toys on each other, but why should Peter get left out of the fun? There are plenty of ways for him to enjoy them, too. Like, pretty much the initial spontaneous thought was “Peter getting pulled into someone’s lap and being pegged within an inch of his life until he comes screaming down the throat of whichever one is going down on him at the same time." And I was just like "not sure what this has to do with this video of how to make a ukelele out of colored pencils, but continue." But like, no really. Peter being knotted in one of them while the other uses beads or a (vibrating) plug on him? (Which one is the asshole who momentarily turns the vibration up high enough that they BOTH can feel it?) Or using those, or some kind of prostate massager, while he’s tied up and watching them with each other? Bonus points in that situation for anything remote controlled. See just how good his control really is. Equal opportunity toy usage is what I’m saying, basically.
Also had a thought inspired by a pregnant friend and her fiance raving about a local pizza place’s monthly special, which is a pickle pizza (no really). I may or may not have asked her if she had it with ice cream (I totally did, but apparently she’s past that point.) So I was wondering about any weird or specific cravings the boys have while pregnant. I remember Chris having a thing about chocolate pudding in the flashbacks. Was it only a certain type of pudding, or would any kind do? Were there any others he had? Did he have the same ones with Ben or different? What about Noah? What sort of cravings did he get, if any? And did they vary between sets of twins? Did anybody go the aforementioned pickles and ice cream route? Anybody dipping fries in Nutella? Onion straws in peanut butter? Doritos in cottage cheese? Anybody eat salsa straight out of the jar? Did anybody get any sudden absolute need for a specific fast food at two in the morning? Or suddenly want a type of snack food only carried at one truck stop halfway past the next town? Anybody spend several days eating nothing but veggie trays, including ones they normally can’t stand? Anybody develop a temporary aversion to certain things, like coffee (feels like it would be a terrible thing for either of them)? Did Peter cater to their every whim in any and all of these situations? (I already know that answer.) Did either one ever get demanding about it, or did they go the more passively-wistful-won’t-stop-mentioning-it route? Side note; did anyone (not family) ever catch the wrong end of hormones now backed by even more combat and/or magical ability? (Debbie at the bake sale best step off or she gonna regret a number of her life choices.)
Uh…I think that was the last of the random swirling questions/musings/headcanons for now… I hope you feel a bit better today, and that the time off (I think you mentioned some time off?) is helpful. Enjoy your time with your friend (that was this weekend, right?). If you’ve got ideas for writing stuff, but are having trouble getting them down, would making quick notes/reminders, or voice recordings, for later help? Like, so you don’t worry about losing them, but aren’t forcing yourself to do something you don’t feel up for at the time? Either way, congrats on keeping up with the journaling (and the pretty, pretty art), and I hope tracking everything proves helpful. And remember, other people’s bullshit issues and hang-ups are in no way your fault (no matter what they try to tell you), and you deserve all the good things. Take care! *Hugs to both of you!*
Yeah, honestly I think I hit that point in my life again where my battery is drained and I can’t restart it. Which is how I got my burn out at first and working towards another one. Heh but I also don’t want to give up now and just keep working for a little longer because my contract expires at the end of September and yeah..
Stress.
Aww gosh thank you, yeah I really like how that one turned out! It was better than expected.
Btw if you’re into Zombie apocalypse stories (I am) you should definitely check out The girl with all the gifts. It’s so brutal but also interesting, I definitely enjoyed that. (And it was research for my own book)
Lol I love this keyboard and this laptop, really, it was the most expensive thing I ever bought but it’s so worth it. Still runs super smooth after 2 years. I don’t think I’ve seen that video of Henry though.
And omg yes I did and it’s the best thing. he looks so SOFT omg. I def got OUAT S2 vibes from that. And OUAT vibes. Also that pic of him with Colton, omg. Those were the best!
THAT PRINT!!!! I nearly snorted coffee out of my nose this morning but managed to swallow it down just in time. My work computer would have suffered caffeine damage otherwise XD.
But yeah, that becomes a running gag for sure!
Because I mean we talked about Chris and Noah using toys on each other, but why should Peter get left out of the fun? There are plenty of ways for him to enjoy them, too. Like, pretty much the initial spontaneous thought was “Peter getting pulled into someone’s lap and being pegged within an inch of his life until he comes screaming down the throat of whichever one is going down on him at the same time."
*cheff’s kiss*
Yes.
Oh the images are so good. Remind me to write them out in detail tomorrow after the zoo trip.
Also parking the pregnancy cravings to answer tomorrow since it’s past midnight and I should catch some sleep before I need to be up again. But I will definitely type that HC out.
Side note; did anyone (not family) ever catch the wrong end of hormones now backed by even more combat and/or magical ability? (Debbie at the bake sale best step off or she gonna regret a number of her life choices.)
Ohhh Debbie’s toast. Because yes, Noah’s magic is that much stronger when it’s fueled by pregnancy hormones and Chris turns into a very protective hormonal fighting machine. Low center of gravity has advantages when you’re in a squabble with the Karens.
And yeah, I have four days off right now. Which means I don’t have to work until Thursday again. Which is awesome!
But yeah work wasn’t too bad, I had to do one bad news conversation which fucking sucked since there was nothing I could do and nobody I could get a hold off to fix the problem for that customer and it was just a waiting game. I hate those conversations. I honestly do.
Most of it was quiet though and I got to leave an hour earlier due to the quiet day. So that was good. And I watched a movie while being paid (The girl with all the gifts) so that was pretty fun too XD
I actually voice record a lot already. I find it really helps with clearing my mind and I write a lot of stuff down. But I appreciate the tip!
Lots of cuddles from me and Mo and I hope your day went by well. <3

*could reblog the posts but feels awkward commenting another 3 page essay on other people’s posts*
Oh, well.
I also never did write that essay about how the theme/tone of the show would change if Stiles or Allison had been bitten instead of Scott, did I? This is relevant to this I swear.
I already talked at length why I hate Scott, but the short version is that every single person on teen wolf has done… questionable things. [I don’t want to use the words god and bad in this context because it’s too black and white, but let’s go with that for simplicity’s sake.] And with everyone else it’s portrayed as the Wrong Thing to do, or another character would hold them accountable, even if the initial situation was written off as comedy. (Everything Peter in s1/Derek in s2 and the Miguel thing with Stiles)
But the show desperately wants you to see Scott as the main character, the good guy, the hero, no matter what the actual situation is. That’s why when Scott uses Derek it’s to save everyone else and to show Derek that Scott is better than him, while Derek working with Peter in s1 is seen as a betrayal against Scott.
That’s why we got Scott throwing Isaac against a wall for Comedic Purposes twice, and while it’s still mostly comedic we at least see that Stiles crossed a line with Derek.
And teen wolf just keeps doing that; The nobody with a heart of gold— who never learns the lesson about other people’s autonomy; the heartbroken boy who coined the be your own anchor thing— who was the only one who got to be close to his ex girlfriend.
And it just gets so tiring to watch after a while.
[Aaand that’s the short version in just under 300 words lmao.]
And this is where the Stiles/Allison thing gets relevant. [Even if I’m only focusing on easons 1-4 because the only thing I remember from s5 is the Donavan thing.]
Because Scott has the typical superhero origin story; a traumatic incident, a desperate search for a cure, and a pretty girl he Can’t Love.
And it can work (cough Iron Man cough) but the only reason he stops looking for a cure is because his only chance is taken from him, Scott and Allison breaking up is probably one of the best decisions made for that pairing, and yes her death is Sad, but they weren’t together anymore, it wasn’t shown as a past (or even still present) love that’s still sad, but also shows that Allison has other people, that she ever was more than just Scott’s first love.
Also, whoever looked at this kid who never wanted to be a werewolf, who actively wanted to kill someone to become human again, and thought “You know what Scott needs? A Magical Werewolf Upgrade that will make him even more involved to show how morally righteous good he is!” is an idiot.
So, Boyd. With him that plot line would have actually made, you know, fucking sense.
Because he actually wanted this. He knew all the facts, all the possible dangers, and chose this.
The thing is, he knew what he was agreeing to werewolf wise when he accepted the bite, the hunters, how it would change him, personally- but Derek is preparing them for a fucking war, uses physical violence as a lesson. He’s a horrible alpha, and he, none of them, agreed to be his punching back or canon fodder.
So they leave again.
Still getting kidnapped, finding Cora, getting rescued, Derek losing the alpha spark, and BAMF!Boyd becoming a true alpha would be the easy route, to show exactly how different he would be than Scott. [Which I would probably do if I didn’t need to watch most of this show again.]
But I also want the beta trio to just leave Beacon Hills. Isaac’s parents are dead, I don’t think we were ever told that either Boyd or Erica have a close relationship to theirs. There’s nothing to keep them here, if the alternative is to turn into Derek, or turn up dead.
What follows is a what the fuck are we supposed to do now road trip until they find a slightly less… murder-y town to settle in. During that time Boyd naturally fally into the role of alpha, and it’s a gradual transition from gold to red. Not because of one moment of whatever the fuck Scott was doing, but because of pack, because he actually is what a good alpha is supposed to be like.
#teen wolf#anti scott mccall#at least this one doesn't even hit 1k words#also I'm writing this on google docs because spelling things correctly is a pain#so if anyone knows how to copy past with formatting please tell me#also also if anyone is still interested in that Stiles/Allison s1 AU send me an ask#aka I actually do want to finish that at some point but motivation is a pain#submission

IF YOU HAVEN'T RUN OUT OF STEAM FOR THESE YET: how about steter + canon divergence AU where the Wild Hunt comes early and takes Stiles post-S2 and Peter is either the only one who still remembers him because he was dead-ish for a while, or he doesn't remember either and only does when the Wild Hunt nabs him in S6? (I admit this is an old fic idea of mine that i wrote into a brick wall so i kind of want to see if anybody else can do sth with it, even if it's just headcanons.)
I’ll be real, I know very little about the whole ghost riders thing. Like all I know is that they get yoinked from this dimension or whatever, and then erased from memory, and then apparently they chill in a fake train station? And there’s a thing with a radio? I have no idea how they got out. I kept meaning to read the wiki this week but then it turned out to be the most exhausting week ever, so now I just wanna talk shit.
1. Stiles gets snitchity snatched by the Wild Hunt a couple of days after being beaten by Gerard/hitting Jackson with the Jeep.
2. Peter shows up to check on him, and make sure the beating didn’t give a brain injury to the only smart member of Derek’s pack. The house is empty, so he hops up to Stiles’ window with the idea of leaving an insufferable note, or possibly even just waiting in his room until he comes back (Peter doesn’t think he’d mind spending some time among Stiles’ things. He smells... well, Peter wouldn’t mind.) But Stiles’ room isn’t there. It looks to be some kind of vague exercise/storage/catchall. No bed, no bookshelf, no laptop- absolutely nothing to indicate that a teenage boy has ever lived there. Peter checks the other bedroom on the landing, and then the office and for good measure the laundry room. Every whisper of Stiles is gone.
3. Peter goes to Derek to ask what happened. Perhaps he was injured more seriously than Peter realized, and had to be taken to a different hospital? But then why would all of his things...
“What the hell is a Stiles?” Derek grinds out, irritated at having to even see Peter. Rich, considering that Derek was the last thing Peter had to see before having his throat ripped out.
“You know, Stiles. About yea tall, inexplicably committed to being Scott’s best friend, had no problem throwing a molotov cocktail at a burn victim?”
When Derek insists that Scott doesn’t have a best friend, only constant girlfriend troubles, Peter retreats to consider.
4. Why can no one remember Stiles? And more importantly, why does Peter? Something about the idea is tickling his memory, so he looks into it and finds the Wild Hunt, and suddenly it’s all very Oh Shit™. His first impulse is to get the hell out of dodge, but something is holding him back. Then his radio turns on, and he hears a faint crackling voice. It’s unintelligible, but it’s Stiles.
If Stiles is somehow managing to reach out from wherever the ghost riders have taken him, Peter thinks, then surely his communication should be reaching his father? Scott? Hell even Derek? Why is it reaching Peter?
5. He’s standing in Derek’s loft, debating whether he should warn his nephew to leave town, or ask for his help figuring out the mystery, or just get out of town himself, when he smells it. A pencil. Just one, with a few faint teeth marks. He picks it up, bringing it closer to his face.
Stiles.
Mate.
Suddenly he understands why Stiles’ radio communication reached him instead of someone else, and why he feels the pull to stay rather than invest in saving his own hide.
He goes home (taking the pencil) to regroup, and his radio turns back on. He can understand Stiles now, and between his explanations and Peter’s own knowledge, he figures out how to get Stiles back (like I said, no fuckin clue how they did this in the show).
6. When Stiles gets home and realizes that Peter is the one who saved him, that Peter was the only one who remembered him, he’s a mess of hurt, confusion, and anger. He’s hurt that he was apparently so easy to forget, confused about why Peter would be the one exception, and angry that he wants to be able to dismiss Peter entirely but he can’t. He constantly craves his company. He’s caught between thinking of Peter as the crazed alpha who turned everyone’s lives upside down, and thinking of him as the clever man who was the only person that remembered him.
7. It wouldn’t take long for the whole “mates” thing to come out, and that would be what finally settles Stiles. Peter was worried about how a 16 year old would take the revelation that he’s supernaturally destined as the perfect match for a former and sometimes also current murderer nearly twice his age, but it clears up the whole emotional mess for Stiles so he rolls with it.
#cywscross#steter#I feel like I do the mate thing way too often but#¯\_(ツ)_/¯#this is probably way lamer than what you were hoping for lmao#sorry I don't know season six very well#apparently child soldiers show up at some point and I just can't with that#this blog needs a tag for my bullshit#asks#ask games#I'm not taking any more of these btw#tumblr fic and kinda fic

1/3 You know what the Teen Wolf fandom don’t talk nearly enough about? The ableist and downright abusive way Adrian Harris treats Stiles in Season 1 and 2. Stiles ‘Mieczyslaw’ Stilinski is an academically and intellectually gifted neurodivergent student with perfect grades despite having ADHD. And yet Harris, Stiles and Scott’s shitty excuse for a chemistry teacher and the man who helped Kate slaughter the Hales, feels the constant need to mock, denigrate, ridicule
2/3 and humiliate Stiles in front of everyone. It’s obvious that Harris was unhealthily obsessed with Stiles. It has always reminded me an awful lot of Snape’s obsession with Harry and Lily. But whatever creepy reason he had to single out and pick on a neurodivergent student, it doesn’t even remotely excuse Harris’ behavior. 3/3 And it breaks my heart that NO ONE – not even Scott, or Stiles’ dad, or Stiles’ classmates – has ever defended Stiles or said something against the abuse Stiles was going through at school. I also didn’t like how Scott kept belittling Stiles and treating Stiles’ ADHD as a funny joke (“How much Adderall have you had today?”), but that’s an entirely different matter
I mean, the fandom does discuss this, and I’m not sure how much is “enough,” but I understand your frustration. It’s pretty clearly supposed to be a “horrible teacher is an ass” trope, and they needed someone for him to pick on, so making it Stiles made sense. He also gives Scott detention once, but that’s about it. Stiles was definitely the focus. Though, it’s implied that he’s that harsh with most of his students and Stiles just happens to be his least favorite of them all. I wouldn’t personally call it obsessed, I would just call it having a preferred punching bag. You’re right that it’s very sour and callous thing to do, what with Stiles being ADHD. Having the ADHD kid get picked on by most students is bad enough (though admittedly we don’t see Stiles getting picked on for his neurodivergency, just his general “nerd” “wimp” status.) but having them get picked on by their teacher is horrible. To be fair though....Harris is depicted as horrible. He’s never justified in his behavior. For once the show didn’t try to tell us his behavior was okay. The part that frustrates me is what you mentioned in the last section.
No one ever defends Stiles.
Now, this isn’t really that unexpected in most people’s case. It’s incredibly unlikely that Stiles ever told his dad what Harris said to him, and having a kid who apparently has consistently had ‘behavior issues’ for ages complain that his teacher gave him detention “because he hates me” doesn’t really instill much trust? Because, Stiles is bad at behaving in class. Obviously it’s necessary for plot reasons, but he talks constantly, ignores the teacher, and does his own thing. It’s really unlikely that Harris is the only teacher to give Stiles detention, he just does it most often. So not only would his dad not know the verbal abuse was occuring, but he also wouldn’t be inclined to think there was anything weird about Stiles’ constant detentions. Also, Stiles has very few friends at the beginning. We see him with Harley doing the little chat, but then she disappears, so who knows how close they actually were. Heather clearly doesn’t go to the same school. And that literally just leaves Scott (from what we see. I know he talks to other people at the party, but that doesn’t mean they’d ever stand up for him). Now, as with most things, Scott is where my issues lie. I’m not going to talk about him negating Stiles’ ADHD, because like you said that’s a whole different matter. I’m talking specifically about him never defending Stiles against Harris.
Sure, I get it. Calling out a teacher for their bullshit is hard (I mean....I did it a lot at school, but I have authority issues that make me go full mama-bear mode despite my social anxiety) and awkward. Scott is defined literally instantly as someone who values the way they’re viewed by their peers (which is accurate to his movie counterpart) and being known for calling out a teacher isn’t always a good thing (it was a really good thing at my school...but we all had authority issues and most of our teachers were horrible).
But. Scott is labelled as a guy who is good. Who has good morals and stands up for people who need it. Right from the beginning, even before the True Alpha stuff. You remember how up at arms he got about Erica and Boyd and how they were ‘innocent’ so he needed to save them? He was willing to physically fight Derek over it with claws and blood. And yet...he does nothing when his best friend is humiliated in front of the entire class.
Clearly, Scott is struggling with his grades at the time, because it’s a whole thing in S2, and getting in an altercation of any kind with the teacher would inevitably have a negative effect on his grade. But -- and I’m speaking from personal experience here -- watching a friend be attacked like that by someone who should’ve protected him? Stopping that is worth more to me than my grade.

On your one ask you mentioned Pete Ross and did it ring back flashbacks of first seeing the racism a character faces simply for being not white. Helped along by the show actively marginalizing him and robbing him of story until he quit. When people say had Sinqua been Scott things would have been even worse with racism we have actual facts and experience to back that up. Had Boyd avoided that bite and followed Scott's advice the character would have been alive and vehemently hated from then on.
Hey – remember Pete Ross? Yeah, he was the best friend to Clark Kent. I remember that he was plagued by family tragedy, he often got into trouble and expected Clark to get him out, and he developed an inferiority complex because his best friend was more powerful than him. I don’t know – it sounds like another character I’ve heard of, but this other character was far, far, far more popular than Pete. I wonder why?
Yeah, I know it was a different character in a different show with different writers and a different plot, blah-di-blah-di-blah, but it’s still the same archetype. There is only one difference. But it’s inarguable that fandom reacts to characters based on their race.
I mean, I don’t even have to leave Teen Wolf. Remember all the fandom condemnation Scott gets for ‘working with the bad guys’ yet never undergoes consequenses for it? Scott works with Gerard in S2, goes with Deucalion for half-an-episode and S3, and works again with a reformed Deucalion in Season 5. I don’t expect fandom to forget it, I just wonder how they say that it doesn’t matter if his mother’s life was in danger or that he had no other way to defeat the villains (while simultaneously saying he thinks only in black and white.)
But if that is so – if no amount of duress or extremity is valid – then why do they forget Derek working with Peter (after he discovers he’s the alpha) in S1, or working with Jennifer (after he discovers she’s the darach) in S3, or Stiles working with Peter in S1 and Stiles working with Theo in S5. They had reasons, too. They had no consequences.
It’s the double standard. It’s a lack of empathy. There’s nothing the production could have done more in these cases to say “This is a similar situation.”
If Boyd had been able to say “No Thanks” to Derek, the fandom would have dismissed him as irrelevant, the same way they dismissed Deaton when he wouldn’t become Derek’s servant. Sometimes, it’s so obvious it’s painful.

Something I always wish TW had explored more was the idea ‘the shape you take reflects the person you are.’ I don’t think the show put that much thought into it, but theoretically, every single thing about shapeshifters on the show could be explained by having almost complete control of their body down to a cellular level - but only subconsciously, stemming from their self-image.
For instance, werewolves had enhanced strength, speed, senses, in emulation of real wolves....but also superhuman healing, which has nothing to do with wolves. They don’t heal faster than any other animal. So its not a trait werewolves ‘borrow’ from the creatures they emulate. Really, werewolf healing is just shapeshifting. They reshape their body back into an uninjured state, because on a subconscious level they know and believe the only things that can really hurt them are wolfsbane and fire, because centuries of werewolf history have taught each later generation that it’s so.
Just like wounds from an alpha heal more slowly - because werewolves are all conditioned to believe on an instinctual level that alphas are physically and supernaturally on a higher level than the rest of them. Wounds from an alpha only heal more slowly because betas’ brains trick themselves into slowing their own healing - or shifting themselves back into an uninjured state. When Scott believed himself to be a beta or omega in S2, the wounds he got from Derek healed slowly. In 3A, the wounds from Ennis stopped healing entirely, and the others theorized it was psychosomatic, his guilt, his belief he didn’t deserve to heal because of what happened to Derek, was preventing him...and the second they snapped him out of it, he was almost completely fine, even though his wounds still had been from an Alpha. He didn’t resume healing at a slow rate, he was better by the end of the day. Because they were right, it WAS psychosomatic, its just all werewolf healing is. And the difference between S2 Scott and S3A Scott was his mindset, his subconscious sense that Alphas WEREN’T innately on a higher level than him. Then again in S5, when his chest wound took half a season to heal....he didn’t fully heal until his pack was all back together, because in his mind, his ability to heal, to be an alpha, to be who he was as a werewolf, was all linked to whether or not his pack was intact.
Then you’ve got the Alphas themselves...who all look different throughout the series. Peter’s Alpha form was monstrous, because he saw himself as a monster. He reveled in it. He WANTED to be fearsome. Derek never had a monstrous Alpha form because that was never what being an Alpha meant to him. It meant power, yes, but not being something terrifying. And when he eventually gained his mother’s ability to full-shift, he wasn’t even an Alpha, because you don’t have to be, to have the ability to reshape your body to that extent, they all have that capability, its about having the right mindset, the right spirit, on a primal level. He gained his full wolf form when he became as a person, the kind of person he thought honored his family, when he became like his mother before him, a werewolf in tune with nature, who was part of the natural order of things rather than something unnatural. We never saw Deucalion before Gerard’s ambush, but nobody treated him as though he were the kind of Alpha who had a shifted form like the Demon Wolf, he was respected, not feared....which suggests that when his personality underwent a dramatic shift after the events of Visionary, his Alpha shape shifted too.
Because its not necessarily constant, as we saw with Scott...who normally looked no different as an Alpha than he had as a beta or omega, except for the color of his eyes...because as far as Scott was concerned, he’d always been the same person, he never changed, just became more confident in who and what he was. The exception was in S4, when he internally struggled with his fears of becoming more monstrous, and we saw him physically become more monstrous each time he shifted as well. Or Valet, whose Beast shape was like Peter’s Alpha shape on steroids, because Valet enjoyed being a creature of nightmare on a whole other level entirely. And Deucalion taught the twins to form their Voltron shape as Alphas, something distinct to them because they were so close they could feel each other’s pain, they saw themselves as two parts of the same whole....and they lost that power when they lost their Alpha status, which really only happened because they suffered such a blow to how they viewed their place on the food chain, they were dropped back down a level. After all, if its all just about the spirit YOU have, not what you get from anyone else, maybe all alphas other than a True Alpha are just werewolves able to tap into greater strength and shapeshifting capabilities after they kill an alpha, because subconsciously, doing so is proof to them that they are stronger than an alpha, thus they must be alpha-level themselves. With their eyes shifting color to show their altered self-image, just like werewolves’ eyes turn from gold to blue after they’ve killed someone, because whether they feel guilty about it or not, the mere act of killing affects how they view themselves one way or another.
Or with Jackson....the other kanima mentioned was apparently a jaguar, nothing like Jackson’s shape...because if a kanima is simply a shapeshifter who doesn’t have enough of a sense of self to pick their own identity, maybe they just reflect how others view them instead. Subconsciously, Jackson always knew people thought he was a snake, or cold-blooded, something like that. The kanima seeks a master because the kanima can’t define itself, it needs someone else to define it, give it purpose, literally shape it. That only changed when Lydia reaffirmed for Jackson that there was more to him than just a heartless snake, that he could be more, after Scott and the others trying to save him all season paved the way for him to want those connections on a subconscious level, to want a sense of belonging, of community, instead of just power, to want a pack. He still had kanima traits in S6 because even when we change radically, who we were is always still a part of us on some level.
Kate became a jaguar instead of a werewolf because she hated werewolves. She viewed them as dogs, she dedicated her whole life to hunting them, she didn’t view herself as a wolf on any level, and so when she shifted she became a cat instead. Feline, quick, stealthy, deadly, a solitary hunter instead of one who sought a pack. When she turned Derek back into his teenage self, maybe it wasn’t some complicated magical ritual that changed him...maybe it was just brainwashing, a variation of the techniques she used to make Scott a mindless berserker. All she needed from Derek was to take him back mentally to a time he knew her and trusted her, so he’d tell her where the triskelion was (a trinket that had nothing to do with controlling the shift, just tricking werewolves’ subconscious into believing this was an avenue of control when they didn’t have faith in their own self control).
So maybe it was as simple as some kind of hypnosis to make him believe he was eighteen again...and then his shape shifted to match the person he was at eighteen. He reverted to his adult self when his mind snapped out of it, remembered who he really was....but his shape wavered all season as his character arc was all about going through an identity crisis after all that had happened to him. He’d been part of a pack, then he’d been a lone wolf, then he’d been an Alpha of his own pack, then he wasn’t an alpha, but not quite a beta, existing on the outskirts of Scott’s pack, an ally and mentor but not wholly convinced he belonged or there was a place for him. He literally didn’t know who he was anymore, and so his subconscious, perhaps weakened or made flexible by what Kate had done to him, reflected that, gradually shifting him over the course of the season to where he was more human, losing his ability to tap into his traits as a shifter, healing more slowly as he felt less and less like the werewolf he’d always been...even his eyes shifting back to gold because he didn’t know if he’d gotten a chance at a fresh start, or if that was even what he wanted...until eventually, he reaffirmed who he was as an individual, who he WANTED to be, had really wanted to be all along, and stabilized as a confident, experienced shapeshifter in tune with himself and nature to the extent he could convert fully into a wolf....with his eyes reverting back to blue because what had happened with Paige was a part of him, and always would be.
Basically, every little thing about shifters can be explained by that ‘the shape you take reflects the person you are’ line. It’s not a thing that can be consciously manipulated, because we’re talking about core self-image, the trappings of your personality, the stuff you can’t control but defines you all the same. Theoretically though, like what happened with Kate and Derek, brainwashing, mind control, hypnosis, etc, could be used to manipulate this, ensure the shape that shifters take by making them believe they are a certain thing or certain way. Just like the weird powers the show randomly gave shifters could be things that shifters of the past had found ways to alter themselves cellularly in order to make these feats possible...and later generations of shifters just looked at their example and instinctively found themselves capable of these things because to them it looked like this was part of what being a werewolf meant, and they were werewolves, ergo they could do it too.
And that explains the ability to view and erase memories via claws in someone’s neck, forging a connection....or the ability to take pain, or in the case of Derek and Cora, transfer energy to help her heal (even if, according to this theory, really what did the trick there was the external boost from Derek gave Cora’s unconscious mind all it needed to believe it could heal her body all the way, just like it really only cost Derek his Alpha status because he believed that was a potential consequence, he was willing to give it up, and on some level, he WANTED to give it up, it was almost a relief). Just like the inability to cross mountain ash is psychosomatic, geared to their subconscious and perception of what the rules of being a werewolf are...with Scott able to break through the ash barrier that one time, out of a sheer refusal to accept being bound and limited by what everyone else was telling him he could and couldn’t do now that he was a werewolf....that refusal to let himself be shaped by anyone but his own sense of will and identity being what gave him his own self-image as an alpha.

I’m mad and it’s about my son so you already KNOW I have a lot to say here.
The thing that is so infuriating about Chris Manawa’s situation and subsequent death is the timing and literal execution of his story line. Get ready, because there’s a hell of an essay below.
Chris Manawa got scratched out of FTWD in S2 after his fan support plummeted when he started down a rocky, arguably sketchy path. But here’s the question of the day: how would that storyline have ended if the writers hadn’t gotten cold feet about it? Too bad we’ll never know, but let’s dissect what’s so goddamn frustrating about this. In stages, broken down, so y’all can follow.
*****************
1. Inherent Good vs. Inherent Evil vs. That Little Grey Area
Let’s talk about Rick Grimes for a second. Our guy Rick went completely off the rails in S3 after Lori’s death, and still had moments in S4 and S5 where his actions were pretty “yikes” (i.e. leaving desperate, likely harmless hitch hikers to walkers, slaughtering people in a church, ripping a guy’s throat out with his teeth, etc).
“But Clara,” you say, “those acts were justified.”
Well, partially, sure. But on the other hand - that’s what the writers have lulled us into thinking. We know that Rick has seen some shit, been through some shit, and had to make some shit decisions. We know he’d do anything to protect Carl and Judith. He’d do anything to protect The Group. He doles out justice like he’s a walking gavel. We automatically give him a pass for this. He’s a damaged man and those are his family members; we can understand him going a little cuckoo sometimes. And besides, Rick would never go “dark side.” No matter how ruthless Rick can get, there is never any real, honest to god danger that Rick might completely snap. And if it ever seems like Rick is going down a bad road and losing fan support, well, the writers just throw in someone worse - like Shane, the Governor, the Terminus cannibals, or Negan. So long as there’s someone inherently bad, no one will start to wonder if Rick is still a capable leader.
The lack of anyone inherently bad in FTWD immediately handed Chris an extreme disadvantage when it came to his arc. We, as viewers, were simply not allowed to see his actions compared to the actions of someone who had solely poor intentions. We were not allowed to see the actions of a traumatized teenage boy in comparison to a grown ass man holding a barbed wire baseball bat who simply doesn’t care who lives or dies, so long as he’s alpha male (you know who we did get to see that comparison with? Carl fucking Grimes).
Let’s talk about why that is, shall we?
***********************
2. Before (The Good), During (The Bad & the Ugly), and After (The Good)
With most major/minor characters (or even antagonists) in stories of all kinds (but especially televised stories), we see their “before and after” to trauma and challenge. Daryl and Carol had abusive family backgrounds that explain how they can behave and think sometimes. Shane genuinely thought Rick was dead and grew attached to Lori and Carl in the chaos, began to feel responsible for them, even love them. Even at his worst, he continually brings this up, and to a point it does explain how he can think and behave sometimes. Even the Governor had a tragic backstory, both initially and after he lost Woodbury.
Chris Manawa’s storyline is not a “before and after” story, it’s a “right here, right now” story.
When the apocalypse really kicks in, we as an audience find ourselves right smack in the mid-beginning of Chris’ development. Think about it; he watches his mom get shot in the head, he’s thrust into a world where he isn’t safe anymore, and he’s surrounded by people who make him feel like an outcast. Add the cherry on top that he’s literally just a 16 year old kid, well shit, now you have a traumatized, isolated character who is neither mentally nor emotionally prepared to handle the situation.
What does this result in? Fucked up shit. Bad decisions. Anger - deep-seated, simmering anger that is not being dealt with, but just continually building. Look, I love my mom. Love my mom. She’s the best person I know. I look up to her, and if my parents got divorced and my dad kept telling me to give my “new family” a try, I wouldn’t want to either. I’d stay with my mom. I’d trust my mom. I’d know that she was the one constant in my life who would never voluntarily leave me or force me to hang out with my step-siblings. And then, she gets infected. No one understands by what. My mom is going to die, and then she dies because my dad shoots her in the head in front of me. In that scenario, personally, I would be beyond distraught. I would be beyond angry. I would withdraw and cut myself off and mourn and smash shit and yeah, I’d probably dissociate so fucking hard. Especially after finally trying to reach out to my step-family and getting shut the fuck out.
We don’t get to see the resolve of Chris’ backstory, because his backstory is his present in FTWD. Think. About. It. This is the kinda shit you’d expect to hear 5 minutes of over sad piano music as the narrator looks off into the mid-distance on TWD. This is the kind of backstory you’d expect to hear from someone like Daryl, or Beth. Hell, this almost is Beth’s arc.
And, sadly enough, Chris’ arc being shown presently rather than presented as backstory is almost precisely what killed him. My poor traumatized son. My third and final point is to finally settle this bullshit comparison once and for all, bc y’all see fit to do my son dirty.

3. Carl vs. Shane vs. Negan
You know what made Shane so despicable? The fact that despite the many chances Rick gave him, he continually fought only for himself and his best interests, he continually wanted what Shane thought Shane deserved. He was selfish, arrogant, close-minded, obsessive, and downright untrustworthy.
Does literally any of that sound like Chris? Chris, the boy who tried to help Alicia over a fence and got punched in the face for it? Chris who tried so many fucking times to alert Travis and Madison that he was NOT FUCKING OKAY and needed help but they ignored him at every turn? The boy who kept making steps to leave the group because he thought they were better off without him there? The poor thing might’ve turned suicidal if he had been forced to stay with them.
“But Clara,” you cry, “remember that time Chris shot an innocent man?”
Yes, I do. I remember when my sneaky son tackled Travis pretending he just wanted a hug. I remember my angry garbage boy taking so much satisfaction in axing walkers between a fence.
You know who else shot an innocent man? Carl Grimes.
You know who else repeatedly takes pleasure in killing zombies? Carl Grimes.
You know who acts condescending, dangerous to their own families, and remark on the fuckability of every woman they meet? Shane and Negan.
You know who DOESN’T act condescending, dangerous to their own families, and remark on the fuckability of every woman they meet? Carl Grimes and Chris Manawa.
Huh. It’s almost like... Chris would’ve been another Carl Grimes, if he had had a competent parent who’d recognized his trauma and helped him through it. If the writers hadn’t chickened out by the fandom backlash and decided they were going to see Chris’ arc through rather than cut it short while they felt like they were ahead.

BONUS ROUND: Trauma, Dissociating, and Cries for Help
Let’s just peep at some things Chris said while he was alive, mainly in his almost-final moments.
---
(when Travis is skeptical about joining James, Derek, and Brandon because the Clarks are a perfectly nice group) “[Derek and Brandon] look at me different [from the Clarks].”
(When Travis says Chris is making a mistake by trusting Derek and Brandon) “I would hide at recess every day because the football guys used to make fun of me. What’d you tell me? ... The lesson was to fit in. I’m fitting in.”
(when Travis protests at Chris’ attachment to Derek and Brandon, saying he’s only known them for two days) “They’re my friends. James is my friend.”
(when Travis says they don’t need Derek and Brandon) “I do.”
(when Travis asks for the date) “No, dad, I lost track. What does it matter?”
(when Travis remarks he should’ve helped Chris) “I’m no good. Look at me. I’m no good!”
(when Travis asks what Chris is doing killing walkers behind a fence) “Making myself useful.”

Like. Holy shit, how does this not SCREAM to y’all that this is a kid who has a history of feeling like an unwanted outcast and he needs help my fuckignfw GOD this boy just needed HELP
He’s depressed and dissociating and angry and JESUS. He latched on to Derek and crew in two days because he’s that fucking desperate to be wanted and included and in on the joke for once
TL;DR don’t come for my son because I am upset and moody about this and he will always be more of a parallel to Carl than to Negan or Shane and I’m so goddamn FRUSTRATED that the writers didn’t have the guts to just fucking finish his fucking arc and let him be at peace god fucking damn I just
FUCK
