gardening visuals overhaul. I'm stoked about the increased usage for gardening with the cooking skill updates. I just wish gardening looked nicer. the plants that came with base game pretty much look the same. that's why when builders on youtube make gardens and farms they use debug plants to make them look more realistic. the plants that came in cottage living are great. really wish they'd just update all the older visuals for gardening. at this point there's so many cottage-y garden-y games out there that have nice plants and flowers it's like sims y'all can't compete. which is a bummer because gardening is somehow a huuuge part of sims 4. (and while you're at it update the base game food visuals too!!)

rowboats. plus lakes and ponds updated so you can row out on them, and the ability to go fishing on the boat. i think you can on the island living boat?? i dont remember but anyway that boat is too huge for anywhere outside of sulani so how about they just grab one of the many debug rowboats and make it functional. please??? fishing skill would be so much more enjoyable if i could do it in a boat instead of just standing in one spot.

okay my real wish is more boats in general this is really specific but i would buy a boat pack lightning fast. give me kayaking give me white water rafting give me going over a waterfall in a barrel hahahaha. i used to love going out in boats rl but it's now been many years since I had the opportunity. please let me live vicariously through my sims ;_;

i know and love aplatonics, aroallos and non repulsed aromantics. and the aro community revolves around friendship and sex repulsion (specifically the aroace community, which seems to think it's the only aromantic experience) and romance repulsion.

i would also like to mention that the asexual community is the same about alloaces, and of course theres the aroace overlap where they all hate apls.

being aroace while not being repulsed and not being aplphobic is alienating. it fucking shouldn't be. accept that some of us have a different experience and some of us don't think friendship is universal or inherant to the aromantic experience. does any of this make sense.

spent a bit of time today writing out some thoughts on ford as a character and thought it might be fun to put them here. I think ford is a really interesting commentary on heroism and his role in gravity falls is specific and pointed. theres a lot more i COULD get into (the way he and Stan act as foils for example) but here I just want to explore the fundamental ideas of his arc which includes parts of his dynamic with Bill Cipher and Dipper.

I really love the way gf combines the ideas of the lone hero/adventurer (a classic hero trope) with the ideas of the mad scientist (a classic villain trope) to reveal the way they're really based in similar lines of thinking and emotional pitfalls. Ford's isolation & paranoia, his tendency to put his own body on the line, his (relative) willingness to endanger others for his cause...it all points out a neat overlap between the guy who wears all black and carries a gun at his hip and the guy who WOULD inject himself with some kinda substance in the name of Science. I think that's part of why from what I've seen the fandom can be pretty conflicted on Ford--even on a basic design level, he evokes strong and conflicting feelings.

A key moment to me in establishing the ideas of Ford's arc happens at the very beginning of Weirdmageddon--a strange point to choose maybe since it's so late in the show, but I feel like those three episodes beautifully encapsulate Ford's failures and his development. After realizing what's happened, Dipper is desperate to find Mabel and make sure she's all right. Ford tells him, there's time to find her later--right now we have to stop Bill before the weirdness spreads. I love the way that the show presents throwaway moments like this: they're not questioned in the moment, but they stick out to you anyway because they run so counter to the philosophy of the show. Through the past 2 seasons, not only has the show proven that saving Mabel is more important than stopping Bill, it's also proven (and proves again after this) that saving Mabel is essential to stopping Bill. Evil isn't defeated by one guy being brave enough to shoot a gun at it, it's defeated by a community that works and fights together. And, hilariously, Ford is captured within the first 7 minutes of the episode, making everyone else's jobs way more difficult.

To be clear, it would be a complete misunderstanding of the character to say that Ford prioritizes stopping Bill first because he doesn't care enough about Mabel or her safety. It's precisely because he cares so much that he doesn't look for her right away. Ford has bought thoroughly into the lie that Bill fed him, which is that devastating personal sacrifice is not only right & good, but necessary in order to accomplish great things. As long as Ford believes that lie, he remains Bill's perfect prey—even with a metal plate in his head, even 30 years after the initial manipulation. Ford will easily give up sleep, food, friendship, family, sanity, and his own life, if he can be convinced he's doing it for the right reasons. And he's very easy to convince! Ironically, despite being arguably one of the most formidable characters in the show, he's also arguably the weakest and most gullible of the main cast, because he's so obsessed with the idea of giving up everything for something greater than himself.

That lie of the moral necessity of self-sacrifice, the lie that makes it possible for Ford to give up his brother, lock himself in his basement, be angry when he’s brought back home, and nearly destroy the world, is heavily in the offing through the Ford-Dipper plotline of Dipper and Mabel vs the Future. Ford offers Dipper apprenticeship and tells him that he’s capable of handling it—but it would require personal sacrifice, giving up his childhood with Mabel to join Ford in his self-imposed isolation. A test of Dipper’s aptitude for that kind of sacrifice occurs in that episode: Ford nearly dies, and orders Dipper to let it happen so that the rift is kept safe. Dipper doesn’t even think before disobeying him. He doesn’t seem to consider it a decision. There's no thought of the greater good when his uncle needs him.

Later, talking to Mabel about the idea of joining Ford as an apprentice, he says how ridiculous it is--sees it for a fantasy. The image of heroism Ford presents is appealing, but it's a lie.

For Gravity Falls, a show with two central protagonists, a show arguing over and over that the only way to change things for the better is to work with, trust, and care for your loved ones, Ford's position is an interesting one. I'd argue that thematically he stands in a more relevant antagonist position than Bill Cipher. He represents everything that the show is poised against. He's set up carefully as the epitome of Cool, with a masterful buildup to his entrance, badass styling, and hero worship from Dipper (the closest thing GF has to an audience insert.) And then, slowly and subtly, the show reveals how the lie of the lone hero has convinced him to hurt himself and everyone around him, nearly to the point of destruction.

Hi the fashion designer in training again, you posted my og ask and it got me thinking about it again (as if i ever stop) and I was thinking about how different monsters would be categorized and how that might change the fashion sense of things too. For example, theres humanoids, animal adjacent, insect adjacent (broadly), and plant adjacent.

Humanoids, to me, would be creatures/monsters that have little to no animal, insect, or plant otherness, such as trolls, drowners, bruxa, even sirens (even though they overlap into animal). Witchers obviously have magical uses from their kills but from a fashion/mundane perspective a lot of what these creatures provide would be equivalent to that of what a human might. Now, there is a lot of real world history that is sensitive and triggering about the use of human remains, especially in recent times of widespread slavery that has a lot of themes of cannibalism, farming practices, and lack of humanity even after death, such as leather tanning for clothes, the use of human remains in parchment (as parchment is made from animal remains and not wood or plants, that’s what differentiates it from paper), and more. This is why anything that leans more human than monster (such as a bruxa, vampire, succubus, etc) I don’t think I’ll touch with a ten foot pole unless it is to deal with their unique remains. Creatures that lean more monster such as trolls get thrown through the wringer though.

Trolls specifically have really thick skin, which in a tanning process would take… forever to turn into leather but the results would be potentially amazing. Thick strong leather would last for centuries if treated right, I have no doubt in my mind that troll leather would make fantastic saddles, boots, furniture — awful clothes but the other implications mean a lot to me because it might just make excellent armor.

Sirens, as the middleman between humanoids and animal adjacent, would be excellent to discuss scales. There is a company that currently helps with fish scale waste and uses them to make clothes that are naturally soft and have added benefits of being moisture managing (helps with retaining moisture in skin in dry environments) and also is naturally anti-odor! This is incredibly cool for the fashion world and I could see it being a real thing for the witcher world… if they had the time to do it, as I fear modern technology would need to be replaced with magic and I’m not sure mages, researcher included, would be interested in going out of their way to collect siren scales to create fabric (unless they could imbue it with magic? 🤔 A potential concept to long lasting charmed clothes) So very interesting but not as plausible in a fantasy world.

But! Reptilian scales are highly sought after in fashion designs and are not as wasteful as fish scales. The Witcher basilisk is reptilian in nature, which would make for excellent clothes, anything in fashion you can think of in scales you can bet it exists. Scales are widely loved and used even today, so basilisk skin? Oh yeah, it’s up there for fashion. Even says so in various wikis 😉.

Animal adjacent clothing will look a lot like what we have for animals now, adjusted as needed. Basilisks are large so their hides would be easy to convert to many items, whereas snake skin is small and you would need several to make a significant piece of cloth. This would make it far more valuable. Not to mention the claws, claws which are used in various forms. From clasps on just about everything, to jewelry, to decor, to piercings, I know a basilisk claw would be on a noble’s cloak or belt, I just know it.

This translates to, as mentioned before, wargs and other furred animals. The larger, the better, the more you can take, the better, the more *dangerous* to prove your worth, the better. A bear claw is nothing compared to a warg fang, and so on and so forth. I haven’t even gotten started on the length of griffin feathers and what that would do for fashion. No one understands what length in natural materials means to me except for other people who’s special interests are fashion, fantasy worlds, and survival skills. I cannot explain *length of feathers* in gowns. In cloaks. In *jewelry.* But that’s a post for a little old me who isn’t up at 1am on a school night.

I also chose industrial because of the raw, edgier themes songs usually tend to revolve around. Matthew Patel is musicals [i wasn’t much of a theatre kid i only sang my parts when my friends would randomly perform Heathers outside of class in midde school. I was never super invested in musicals though.] and emo music. He honestly kinda reminds me of the entire 2016 emo revival with the “Holy Emo Trinity” or whatever. Though ofc this shit takes place in like 2005 so its not the same. He reminds me more of Midwest Emo than Post-hardcore emo. Maybe he would listen to shit like Sleeping with Sirens but for some reason its hard for me to imagine. To be fair its also because i grew up with second wave emo [i think its second wave. mostly the end of it but jt altered my life and ive seen shit that would occur in the scene thanks to my older sister] so i have a specific idea of the different types of emos at the time. He’s much more emotional and theatrical to me which is why i choose midwest emo over post-harcore/emocore. Also hes zesty so brittany spears.

I usually associate Lucas Lee with old school Reggaeton. Just based on personal headcanon about how he looks like a specific genre of Latino in the early 2000s idk to describe it, im also from the west coast so theres that. But ofc the anime gave me a reality check and i realized this mf is still a skater. so of course you have punk rock/pop punk. so the range goes from Daddy yankee and Don Omar to mf The Offspring and Anti-Flag. I’ve thought about making a playlist for him, i just gotta figure out how to organize it the same way i did for Gideon and how his playlist has both bachata and industrial.

Todd would stray more away from electronic heavy music unlike Lucas and Gideon. In my head I also associate him with pop punk, basic bands like Fall Out Boy, The Offspring, Bowling for Soup whatever. Indie Rock like The Killers, The Strokes, Queens of the Stone Age probably. Honestly basic level radio rock that people argue the genre of. Though another headcanon is that most of the music he grew up with was like, basic level metal. Shit like Metallica and AC/DC. For the Twins. The obvious answer is basic EDM. But i feel like one of them is a little more experimental than the other while one of them would focus on being more melodic. They both remind me of Aphex Twin and Venetian Snares. Ngl though they kinda remind me of 2000s/2010s hip-hop/rap in a way that i can’t fully explain. I have no specific artists nor subgenres to describe it unfortunately because i have a very basic level examples i heard on the radio growing up. i think its cause theyre always at some party/event depending on which media. What is Reality Shifting (RS): RS refers to the practice of "shifting" from one reality to another. This is taken from the multiverse theory; A theory that multiple universes and dimensions exist. With this logic, in these multiple parallel dimensions, there would be multiple versions of yourself. So, in theory, you would be able to shift your consciousness's to another version of you and live through that. Many people use this as a gateway to their favourite dimensions, most of the time being fictional.

Though there is almost no scientific evidince to back up that this "Quantum jumping" actually exists, it is a wide-spread online community that likes to share their own experiences, just like any other internet group.

To get this out of the way, Lucid dreaming and RS are not the same thing, in fact they are quite different, as well as RS and Astral Projection. Lucid dreaming has been around forever and also has been backed up by science. To put simply, Lucid dreaming is when you become aware and conscious while you are dreaming. This state doesn't happen too often either and typically happens by accident, then again, there are ways to highten your chances with specific substances or techniques. Astral projection on the other hand is when you leave your physical body and go about in the astral plane. This phenomenon long belived and even dates back to anceint times when spiritual leaders would go on spiritual journeys or go talk to the gods. This practice mostly being done while awake and meditating. When thinking about it, RS has many similarities with both of them, but it is a far different concept. RS is more where you shift your consciousness into that of another you.

Whether the practice of RS is real has not been proven and likely never will be. However, there are many common themes among those who experince it and several other phenomenons that share similarities to the subject. Some of the themes include: Absorption, disassociation, and fantasy-proneness. While the other phenomenons: Lucid Dreaming, Astral Projection, Tupla, hypnosis, dissociative absorption, and maladaptive daydreaming. Now, there are several meathods of reaching your DR, some of these include; Alice in wonderland method, the elevator method, Raven method, and the pillow method. About half of these are ones that require the subject to fall asleep, while the others are done while awake. All of which require affermations and a script to follow while in one's DR.

Going on about the symptoms when RS, there are many overlaps with Astral Projection like; Seeing lights, vibrations, feeling weightless or heavy, tingling, and ect. This makes me belive that there is a part of Astral Projection that goes into RS. I may be wrong, but the symptoms are quite similar.

Now, with my takes and opinions. I still am quite confused on the subejct on shifting to another version of yourself. Sure I belive in the whole multiverse thing... I belive in a lot of things. But What really confuses me is how you pretty much posses another version of yourself, and how something is supposed to follow a script. Versions of yourself exist seperately, they are not a hivemind, thus you cannot just possess them and live their life. That makes no sense. Maybe a whole world can follow a script, but, I would think it would be imporbable. Our world isnt on script, why is theres? bc really I dont want to bash other ships to lift mine up!!! and I actually also really love and respect labru, and know the majority of labru shippers arent Like That, just like most kabumisu shippers arent Like That. every group has some annoying, loud, opinionated people and they dont represent the average person who likes the ship, you know? I would love to see some labrus follow suit and send in some positivity as well!!! If the positivity keeps going I will come in here and post all my fave things about labru, labru art, and labru shippers as a kabumisu. lets ditch the bitching and hold hands instead!

anyway, some reasons I really love kabumisu

- as a neurodivergent disabled person dating another neurodivergent person, this is like. THE couple to me. and like its not just about mithrun being taken care of. taking care of mithrun actively helps kabru be more mindful of his own needs. In my life, I may struggle to feed myself, but I can make breakfast if my partner is hungry. other times she may do the same for me, it depends on who is doing worse.

-they both struggle with insomnia also

-from everything we've seen, pre-dungeon mithrun wasn't entirely dissimilar to kabru (high masking people pleaser) and thats Fascinating to me.

-kabru's job seems pretty stressful (no matter how much fulfillment it brings him, its a lot of responsibility for one person!) so I feel like coming home to that one guy he can take his mask off around and not even have to try and impress must be such a huge relief. also add mithrun with cooking experience to this, making kabru a nice meal after a long day of work.

-Mithrun is actually very perceptive and sees straight through kabru's bs multiple times and doesn't hesitate to call him out. Laios isnt the only character that forces kabru to be honest. ("unless theres someone else?" "theres someone you want to tell that story to.") mithrun is also the one who gives kabru the information he's been seeking this whole time.

-I am very interested in exploring mithruns whole desire situation. what desires does he gain? I think it is probably a lot of little ones that weave together. oh also I think sometimes things may seem more mithrun centric bc in any story where he is going to end up in a relationship he is going to have a much more dynamic arc than whoever he is paired with. literally dynamic as in like. he requires a lot more growth to achieve the outcome. and there are ways to skip it or gloss through it but. a lot of these stories require that in some way you show the progress has happened.

-to me, kabumisu is more often queeplatonic than romantic. but Im aroace so that could just be my aroace glasses. ALSO kabru is vaguely aro to me. you mean the guy thats super desirable that doesnt really seem interested in anyone particular outside of pursuing friendship? that guy? -random but I dont think kabrus PTSD is talked about enough and also like the extent of his trauma. its not just utaya/monsters/his mom dying; its being raised by a single mother, its his blue eyes, its being adopted, its being raised by an elf, etc!!!! a lot of things he does bc of ptsd get attributed to autism (I also hc kabru as autistic, and some is symptom overlap. but it is secondary to the ptsd! he is traumatized first and foremost ty) I really love kabru so much. ty for the ptsd rep <3

I will tell you from my pov specifically though its bc I deeply relate to mithrun (as someone who once told a therapist many years ago I desired nothing and truly meant it. she said I was like a puppet without strings. of course I saw mithrun and was like. oh.) and Im in love with kabru. kabru reminds me of all the people who gave me a reason to pull through. people who saw good in me and treated me like a person when I didnt feel like one. I also really relate to kabru though as someone with complex trauma, even if my traumas are not the same. thats why I say I think not enough is attributed to his ptsd. anyway, once I just opened a notebook and wrote kabrus name over and over again with hearts. I have never done this to mithrun. so dont tell me kabumisus dont like kabru !!!

-kabru and mithrun are both so gender. Ive seen so many variants on their gender and gender expression in the ship. some people hate this and insist they must be one way or the other. I think theyre neat lots of different ways. I love when theyre both feminine men. I love when mithrun is super masc. I love when theyre butch4butch. I love when theyre both trans. and so much more. its all beautiful. a very good variety of food. the other day on my dash I had a tallman art of mithrun with the biggest tits imaginable and the very next post he was like a little porcelain doll. keep up the good work guys. thats literally what I have been thinking thus if the time periods from previous eras are still playing out it means theres parallel realities too that happening at once. why do u think some spirits remain on earth and do u think life could then be longer somehow? cause I hate how there is u have to pick one thing ur good at and thats all u can really do in life kinda like the terminology of yolo but I have been thinking then life isnt that short its actually quite long winded imho. just that what people think creates a certain image of life and their opinions shape it as such ways. so life can really then only be exactly what we make of it, i also dont think there is heaven and hell and that its another realm we dont yet have access too bc we are earth beings from the start

You experience life with your awareness only and that’s how YOU experience it, you can live multiple lives whilst still having your awareness from past experiences/lives and that’s how you become immortal technically

You can also live a life where people are immortal which is also a different way to live longer

Do I think there’s another realm

I heavily believe in another realm and quite specifically the “quantum field” which is a realm where everything exists everywhere all at once and where you are nothing but awareness but your also at the same time everything everywhere all at once and that’s because the quantum realm consists of nothing but the energy and frequency of EVERYTHING you could ever think of and beyond, the only way you can access this is not w your physical body but with your awareness and thats y you’ll see some people call it the “void state”

That state is our most natural state of being and that is our “source” (where we came from)

That’s also why you’ll see people talking about shifting to these other realities by entering the quantum field

I believe the bible is a metaphorical book but everyone interpreted the book way too literally so now ppl think there is a god outside of them when in reality it was them all along as we all are able to create our experience

I think Jesus knew that and he knew he was god but people also took that too literally and now are literally worshipping a completely average (but smart) spiritual man

I don’t think time is linear

I obviously can’t change your beliefs but personally I do not think time is linear because if it were, then the theory of “infinite timelines existing all at once” would be debunked according to that belief

I think time is happening on overlap and not linearly, hence why the “end” of time is also the start of time.

I think all these concepts overall are hard to grasp and understand fully so that’s why it can be long winded for some to believe in these things but honestly I don’t understand cause we are living in a mysterious universe so why would our existence be simple and easy to comprehend

Jane Ng's portfolio covers ambient occlusion on one of the models pages, specifically models 1

so, as you can see with most spore textures of various objects, they have baked-in lighting like this

curiously enough not all of them actually do. sg_treasure_grail has no ambient occlusion, aside from the spots where the gems go i suppose

the portfolio also has a treasure chest texture with no ambient occlusion, which as far as im aware is the only non-shaded version of an object texture that we have (that is actually shaded in final)

though bone_pile_huge and bone_pile_huge_pillaged_01 use the same texture, just with separately baked ambient occlusion, so you can sort of reconstruct it

and i do mean sort of. i overlaid them with a lighten blend mode and this is the best i got. much of the shading is still here

anyway. as you can see with some of these models, having to account for ambient occlusion also makes for some really odd looking textures with uvs. every element that is repeated on the texture cant just share the same uv space. therefore you get like 3 separate repeats of the same base skull texture, three repeats of the same egg, a million repeats of the other parts etc, instead of them just sharing the same space in the texture

i think the same kind of thing happens when the game is baking creature textures, separate copies for every part in the texture (even if its just a paired symmetric part)

also this is why theres weird dark spots where parts overlap with the body, it also uses something similar to ambient occlusion to add shading between the parts that overlap (with each other or the body mesh itself etc)
