Lots of questions! We will go through them one at a time.
What is your process of designing your maps?
So with maps I will start by just noting down the history and current function of the city which gives me an idea of style and layout e.g. all of the cities that were part of the Laith’Edrels have lots of circular designs whereas a modern altic city may have more typical alleyways and rectangular buildings
Next I plot in the districts of the city, like where the upper class live, where the high streets are etc. I also add any key buildings at this time, like a plot relevant church or a mages tower.
Lastly I go back in and draw boxes and house shapes for 2 hours.
How do you approach lore?
A lot of my lore is just a set of stories where I look at a place on the map, or a group of people and go ‘what could have happened here?’
The bigger worldbuilding points like the dissolution came from me wanting to have magical decay from fewer more powerful beings to more less powerful beings, so I needed gods.
However it always frustrates me when there are canonically gods in a world who just sit back and ignore the world crashing and burning as one frustrated hero has to fix the problem, so I made a reason for them to be gone
History and worldbuilding
Honestly a lot of my history writing was based off of the large amounts of real life history I read in my free time. Studying how cities and empires develop then putting my own spin on them because magic would change some things.
Worldbuilding comes from my maps really. I will label different cultures on the map then come up with myths and legends for that culture, magic specific to them or their ancestors, wars and internal conflict. Then that spirals into pages of notes on the socioeconomic background for Onkairel. It is lots of fun.

So about Xaeren…
I will be writing the scene where he meets Kell soon so I will tag you in it when I do, but you are right about the school work :( so it may take a little while.

So you say that jokingly… No, to be fair he isn’t known for his an appearance but he is quite well known in Zairel as an assassin and member of house Hiresias.
He is terrifying and intriguing to many because of his unique magic that Lysandri can’t explain so I would not be surprised if there was discussion of him in the lower ranks of Lysandri and Hiresias.

The crowd is roaring, but all you can hear is the steady thump of your heart against your ribs. You haven’t seen them together since that last match. The memory still clings to you, the way the air felt so thick between all three of you. Now, standing in the packed stadium, nerves bundled tightly in your stomach, you try to focus on the game.
The whistle blows, and the match begins. Yuji is all energy, his athleticism on full display as he darts across the ice. Megumi, more composed but no less skilled, skates with calculated precision. You can’t help but follow both of them, your eyes torn between their movements. It’s thrilling, but in the back of your mind, all you can think about is what will happen afterward.
When the final buzzer sounds, signaling their win, the crowd erupts. Your nerves spike again. You should be excited, but all you feel is the tension building in your chest. You make your way down toward the locker room, telling yourself to stay cool. No need to make things more awkward than they already are.
As soon as you see them—Yuji’s bright smile as he spots you, Megumi’s gaze flicking between the two of you—you know something has shifted. The three of you stand there, and despite their victory, there’s an odd weight hanging between you.
"Congrats!" you manage, your voice a little too chipper as you force a smile. “You guys were amazing out there.”
Yuji grins wider, his energy contagious. “Thanks! Did you see that shot I made? I’ve been practicing that for days.” He’s glowing with excitement, the happiness radiating off of him.
You laugh, the tension easing as you fall into your usual banter. “Oh, that shot? You mean the one you almost missed if Megumi hadn’t bailed you out?”
Yuji gasps in mock offense, slapping a hand to his chest. “Okay, rude! I had it perfectly under control!”
"Sure you did," you tease, feeling the familiar ease settle in. It feels good to talk to Yuji like this, his goofy charm always so easy to fall into.
But as the conversation flows naturally between you and Yuji, you catch glimpses of Megumi from the corner of your eye. He’s watching you both, his expression quiet, almost distant. And with every passing moment, he seems to grow more withdrawn, his usual calm presence replaced by something more guarded. It’s not like him to fade into the background like this.
Yuji, as oblivious as ever, doesn’t seem to notice. “Hey, we should all hang out this weekend. Celebrate the win, you know?”
"Yeah, maybe," you say, your voice trailing off as you glance back at Megumi. He hasn’t said a word since the conversation started, his gaze now lowered to the ground, avoiding yours.
“I gotta head out,” Megumi mutters, his voice low as he shoves his hands into his pockets. “I’ll catch you guys later.” Before you can say anything, he turns and walks off, leaving you standing there with Yuji.
You blink, confused. “Did I… did I say something?”
Yuji just shrugs, though a frown tugs at his lips. “That’s just Megumi being Megumi. Don’t sweat it.”
But it doesn’t feel right. As you watch him leave, that gnawing feeling returns, settling heavily in your chest. Something is off, and you can’t shake the sense that whatever it is, it isn’t going away.

In the days that follow, Megumi grows even more distant. It’s not just in passing conversation—it’s like he’s actively avoiding you. No more random texts, no more inside jokes, nothing. Every time you try to talk to him, he finds a way to brush you off or disappear altogether.
The hollow ache that started small in your chest grows each time he pulls away, until it feels like all you can think about is the space between you. The moments where he would usually be are filled with silence now, and you can’t stop wondering why.
It hurts. More than you want to admit.
Then, one evening, your phone buzzes. You grab it off your bed, half-expecting it to be Megumi, hoping it will be, but it’s not. It’s Yuji.
*Hey! You wanna hang out? Been too long.*
You stare at the message, your thumb hovering over the keyboard. For a second, you consider saying no, making some excuse about being too busy. But then you think about Megumi, about how much the distance between you is eating at you, and decide that maybe you need a distraction. Something to get your mind off of it.
*Sure, when and where?* you reply.
Maybe spending time with Yuji will help. Maybe it will make the ache in your chest a little less unbearable.

Falling into the modern girl in thedas rabbit hole again lol.
I want to do a human girl(?)/solas thing. She’s not important to the inquisition, and mostly works as a seamstress, and occasionally as a cook.
she’s highly aloof. I want her to be a foil to solas because she’s so distant from the other people. I personaly think that being stuck in a medieval level world would be unbearable, and I’d have trouble relating to the humans who live like that. I want her highly educated. She’s forgotten more than most people ever knew in the modern world. Putting her among people without even a third grade level education is…. So. She’s bored and she can’t really see the people around her as people and she’s trapped in filthy circumstances and have I mentioned that she’s bored???? It’s be hell to go from a world of constant stimulation to can’t do shit after sunset because it’s too dark.
Anyway she doesn’t really deal with anyone important until the journey to sky hold when she and solas fall together naturally as the quiet kids lol. She’s bored and in pain and can’t even find yarn to keep herself busy so she starts asking solas questions because hey even if he sees her little more than an animal, she sees him as a mildly interesting video game character so it’s like. A perfect match lol.
I also keep using she but I’m pretty sure she’s non binary in my head. Also a mage who learns to shapeshift because magics the one thing she doesn’t already know a lot about. She shifts gender and races and into animals. Anything she can. I think I’ll call her Mouse because she’s so quiet and no one actually knows her real name.
A scene: solas and mouse in skyhold are chilling together in scilence. He’s sketching her something and she’s knitting. Sometimes she sings to herself while she knits, because she’s so used to working to music that the silence gets oppressive sometimes. The song is definitely Follow you into the dark by death cab for cutie.
“Love of mine, some day you will die, but I’ll be close behind, I’ll follow you into the dark —“
But then she cuts herself off because solas has dropped his book, staring at her even paler than normal because: Oh.
This human is mortal. One day she’ll die. All that raw intelligence, all that quiet strength, all that deep contemplation would one day be no more than dust.
Solas leaves without saying anything to her. He has to fix this.
