So a little while ago (literally five days ago but who’s counting) we finished the Taylor Swift’s Gayest Song Tournament which was super fun and I loved seeing everyone’s opinions and interpretations of songs.

And at some point my wonderful friend @pitchblackveins wrote some tags about wondering if the votes would be different if the question was what song is Queerer rather than Gayer. And so we chatted for a while and she helped me come up with a new idea and helped me write this! Thank you friend 🫶

So this is gonna be a different kinds of tournament where every* Taylor song is going up against one another to find The Queerest Taylor Swift song

We are going to do this in Eras!!! We are going to find the Queerest songs from each album, and then the top 4 queerest songs from each album will battle it out in a final set of matches to find the queerest Taylor Swift song!!!

Queerer/queerest can mean whatever you want it to mean; you might consider a song queer because you think it was written that way, or because of Swiftian lore. It might be queer to you because of how you relate it to your own life. Maybe you think from a purely literary standpoint the lyrics have queer themes; maybe you're just thinking about vibes.

The tournaments will happen in the following pairs of albums - Debut & reputation -> Fearless & 1989 -> Speak Now & Midnights -> Red & Lover -> folklore & The Tortured Poets Department -> evermore & The Anthology -> Unreleased & Misc

For rounds in which there are extra spots those spots will be decided by either the songs closest to 50/50 in the polls or by a snap poll, depending on the results!

And if you have any unreleased or miscellaneous songs you think should be included in the last round, please let me know!

Okay back on my human!au ideas. I'm gonna do a compilation post or something because the others are just rambles and they aren't exactly easy to find... I don't even have it in the masterlist anywhere... mostly 'cause these are just ideas that I have no idea what I'm gonna do with. asldfj anyway! Feel free to use them if you feel so inclined!

Okay so I've talked about all the brothers except for Lucifer and Levi, but here's what I'm thinking.

Basically, I can't really imagine any of the brothers living fully alone, so while Beel & Belphie are both living on the farm (though possibly in different buildings) and Satan & Asmo are sharing a place in the city (probably in one side of a duplex because I think an apartment would be too small for them lol), I've decided the three older brothers live together, too.

BUT. Levi is a marine biologist. He has his own boat for research purposes (his research is likely also funded by the university where Satan teaches) and sometimes he goes out on his boat for weeks at a time. His main focus for his research is whales or maybe manatees or something, but everybody knows he's secretly trying to find evidence of sea serpents.

Still completely obsessed with anime & manga, I don't think you could ever take the otaku out of Levi lol. So when he goes out on his boat, he brings piles of manga and anime to catch up on while he's out there.

He has a lot of high tech equipment on his boat that he's especially good at maintaining. Other researchers often ask him for help with this.

When he's home, he spends his time holed up in his room playing video games, occasionally emerging for food and what have you. He also spends a decent amount of time working through what he learned on his expeditions and writing research papers good enough to continue getting grants. Satan helps with those, taking Levi's data and making it sound good. Sometimes Belphie helps out too.

All the other brothers seek out Levi when they need help with tech and sometimes he takes them out on his boat for rides or even if they just wanna get away for a couple days. Belphie especially likes to do this because you get some amazing views of the stars out on the ocean.

Lucifer owns a vineyard. It's not far from Beel's farm, but unlike Beel Lucifer doesn't live there. His house is in the city proper and as mentioned, he shares it with Levi and Mammon.

Lucifer spends a lot of time at the vineyard, though, perfecting the various methods of wine production to create a superior product. He's the real money maker of this family. While everybody else makes money from their various jobs, Lucifer's personal wine label makes the most. We all know that Lucifer would take care of all of his brothers if any of them needed anything. He gives them money regularly and doesn't ask for it back.

Human!Lucifer is much softer than demon!Lucifer in general. There is some angsty family history that I will write about in a different post, but basically he's been through a lot. Basically raised all his brothers himself and they mean everything to him. He isn't about to let them stumble through life because they didn't have enough money. Especially not if he has it to give them.

He's more indulgent, probably middle aged, tired. He was perhaps more intense when he was younger, but he's mellowed out at this point.

He and Mammon are both very business minded, so together they kinda keep everybody else on track. They help with the business side of Beel's farm, allowing Beel to focus on things like crop quality. And if for some reason Levi or Belphie don't get the funds they need from the university, Lucifer and Mammon come up with ways to supplement their income. Satan does all right as a professor and Asmo is a successful therapist, so they don't need as much help. But they will come to their older brothers for advice. Together, Lucifer and Mammon are especially good at helping their brothers plan for retirement lol. They're like, listen we know you're young and don't care, but you gotta start saving with that 401k!!

Lucifer thinks Mammon is a little too wild with his fancy cars, but he also admits that Mammon is good at what he does. Levi worries Lucifer when he's locked up in his room for too long or when he's gone on his boat for too long without checking in.

Lucifer is proud of Satan and Asmo, how they're doing well on their own together, how successful and well balanced they both turned out. He worries a little bit about Belphie, spending a lot of time alone staring at the stars, but he's also aware that Belphie is doing what he loves. Lucifer is also proud of Beel for pursuing something as difficult as farming.

I still like the idea of MC being the only non human in this scenario lol. The one pink sheep on Beel's farm. But of course there could be a situation in which they all meet an MC character...

Buuuut I also think I'm getting ahead of myself. We still got the tragic family backstory and the side characters to consider.

Anyway, this is just me rambling about my thoughts. More likely to come 'cause I can't stop thinking about them.

Chet

chet and his family moved from california when he was in 3rd grade. his first friend in town was one sodapop curtis on his little league baseball team

his dad is a cop and wants to advance up the ranks, and his mom wants to make sure they keep up their good social standing, so chet was not friends with soda for long

you know those boys in like 5th grade that crack all the dumb jokes, hit all the door frames, and tease every girl "because he likes her"? thats chet and trip

this is inspired by @/sky4cherry iirc but chet does Nawt get attention at home man. his dad is always busy with work and a little mean (yknow how dads are in the 60s) and his mom is always working on the next social function or trying to appease his dad. anyways he is just always at another soc guy's house just to have someone Talk to him

i think he picks up drinking and smoking, and fighting, for a similar reason to bob: he just wants his parents to fucking notice he's doing something wrong. but theyre high enough now in the social and job spaces that they can just wipe any misdemeanors under the rug

i cant decide if chet is an only child, or if he has like 2 siblings that are way older than him. idk

Trip

terrance dipp is The Exasperated older brother ever. bro did Nawt want a little brother sorry melvin.

anyways unfortunately i do think trip is very much a guy's guy. that boy is Not a good boyfriend to marcia unfortunately :(((((( at least by the time we get to their sophomore year/the show

him and chet can not be sat together in class. they will never shut up or stop hitting each other.

chet broke his arm one time in like 6th grade. trip threatens to break it again at least once a month

ive said this before but ill say it again: trip and melvin are just soc steve and ponyboy. trip is so tired of his kid brother being in all his sports and trying to tag along to everything

that being said, he was looking out for melvin so much during the rumble. he knew their mom would kill him if he brought his brother home all beat up, but also he really really didn't want him to get too hurt.

he Always goes to marcia to patch him up after hes been in a fight. (after the rumble though, him and marcia are on the rocks, and hes got melvin to worry about. so he just sneaks melvin home and tries to clean him up before their mom sees. its actually a sweet bonding moment between them i think)

trip lovesssss verbally poking fun at any greaser in school, especially two-bit. after he realizes two-bit likes marcia, his mean jokes become a lot more threatening

(i do love trip i promise i just also think hes kinda a mean guy. you know the kind of rowdy douche bags in high school im talking about. im so sorry ksco and sean jones i promise i love trip kdjfkdjf)

Brill

clark brillstein i'll be so incredibly honest i dont have much in my brain for him :((( i gotta sit and think more

i do think he has one of the better home lives out of the bunch, and hes got his lovely perfect girlfriend, and hes good at sports, and honestly i think he just. gets tired of everyone thinking hes got it so perfect all of the time. i think maybe thats why he likes all the fighting so much

while he is relatively happy with his life rn, hes tired of being doted on like hes perfect. and also sometimes he sees everyone else's lives being so shitty, he feels likes hes got to pick fights to justify him feeling bad about his lot.

Paul

ohhh im gonna have to hold myself back from talking about him forever. he will get his own post at some point aDKFJDKFJK

anyways. paul holden. the messiest and most scared gay kid in the town of tulsa

i think he and bob literally grew up together. like their parents are Old old friends, so paul and bob have always basically been brothers despite a 2/3 ish year age difference (i dont feel like doing the exact math). i think bev's parents are also in this old friend group, so pauls known her forever too

anyways. he was probably the bob of his friend group in his class, which is why nobody really really protested darry being in their group. but i also think that when he was with darry, paul didnt really care about the whole social friend group of things too much.

contrary to popular belief i dont think paul is the friend-group-leader type. idk if that makes sense and i can yap about it more but.

anyways post-darry breakup paul is a fucking mess. hes sad and angry and those fights that darry was always trying to stop feel so damn good. maybe bob and his buddies are on to something, and bob's dad always has a full liquor cabinet

obviously we know the most about bob and his home life and inner psyche and reasons for fighting and honestly all of it really resonates in my brain. like yea im keeping all of that

bro has charisma to the max. like he has always been the ringleader of the friend group, even in like 4th grade when all the boys started becoming best buddies

he used to be such a mommas boy. before her praise just became so meaningless.

oh ive just had a revelation. he is an angrier and more resigned buddy aldridge from rotpl. his dad is pulling the strings to make sure his precious son is climbing all the right ladders.

the difference here tho is bob realized this earlier, and that started his spiral into fights and drinking and causing problems. he wanted to see what would finally make his dad stop covering and fixing everything for him. he never found that limit

he knows cherry cant stand the drinking, and i do think he does feel bad about ignoring her feelings about it. but his urge to push back against everything and spit in the face of anyone who tries to tell him how he should be just overpowers. and god everything is more fun when hes boozed up

I am of the mindset that media is not real, but that your reaction/the things you learn are. liking cannibal media does not make you a cannibal, but seeing bigoted portrayals of minorities can feed your biases (doesn't necessarily mean you can't consume it; does mean its effect on you/others irl should factor into if/how you decide to interact with it).

Misc: The road to Stormveil

This ain't a case or anything. Just some notes about a mistake I made.

Typically, I like to be slow and methodical, but sometimes I like to throw caution to the wind, indulge in a little chaos. So rather than gradually working my way up to Stormveil, I decided to find a quick and easy route.

Got what I wanted with a strange updraft the voice calls a "Spiritspring." Torrent, my trusty steed, was able to launch himself up the spiritspring and onto the cliff. There were a bunch of giants lumbering around, but I managed to avoid them and spurred Torrent into the woods.

Closer I got, the more I realized why they called it Stormveil. The wind bit so hard at my face, I was grateful I was still wearing my prison mask. It wasn't a clean wind either, so full of grit I could barely see where I was going. There was something foul on that wind, and the closer I got, the stronger the wind and the more foul the smell.

I had to take a rest at the first shack I saw, where I met a man named Bernahl. A stout warrior type, in heavy armor and carrying a greatsword. Asked me if I had faith in the Golden Order, which is the kind of question you don't ask unless you're looking for a particular answer. Couldn't get a read on him, so I answered with the truth: Never really had faith in anything, and not about to start now. He told me that answer could lead to trouble as a Tarnished, but he said it like he had experience.

Got back on the road and made it all the way back to where I started, on the other side of the gate, before I had to stop in another shack. This one was occupied too, with a girl who introduced herself as Roderika, after some prodding. Seemed out of it and loopy, like she'd had a terrible shock. There was some sense to her rambling, at least. Talking about grafting and a spider made me think of the thing at the chapel, but it was when she mentioned the "white-mask" that I really took notice. Seems the bastard set her up. After watching her companions slaughtered, she's broken in a way that won't be fixed by me pressing her for details. I briefly considered getting justice for her from Varré, but I'm not here for justice. I'm here for answers, nothing more.

Left Roderika behind and headed up to Stormveil. Welcoming party started pelting me with bombs from a distance, but with Torrent's speed, no way they could tag me. I definitely didn't get blown up even once, and pretty soon I was on the final approach to Stormveil.

Then I was stopped in my tracks by a giant, hairy old man calling himself Margit the Fell. I don't know who he is, but he just jumped down from a rampart what seemed like a half mile away, and decided to make things difficult for me.

No need to get into the blow by blow. I ate dirt. He served me my own ass. That shillelagh of his hit like a battering ram, and he moved faster than he had any right to. If I'm ever gonna get into this castle, I'm clearly gonna have to contend with him, and I've got a lot of work to do before that's even a possibility.

At least Melina showed up shortly thereafter to offer me another boon. Said she'd been testing me, and I'd somehow passed. She took me to a place called the Roundtable Hold, and, well, that's a whole other journal entry.

1. What fic of yours would you recommend to someone who had never read any of your work? (In other words, what do you think is the best introduction to your fics?)

Hmmm - it's not really a fic, but the misc shorts series, I guess? It's hard to say it would depend on the vibe you're looking for. The misc shorts have ✨ range.✨

10. How do you decide what to write?

I think of something and eventually become so overcome by the idea for days on end that I decide I want to write it. Whether it gets written in the end is up in the air.

25. What other websites or resources do you use most often when you write?

Wikipedia is probably up there. Otherwise it really depends on what I would need - like googling "how long does it take for a human body to burn to ash in open air" is gonna bring up different results compared to "bpd symptoms", you know.

30. Have you ever written something that was out of your comfort zone? If so, what was it, and how did it affect your approach to writing fic thereafter?

I don't think so. There are a couple things I wrote for the first time that I felt a little awkward writing - Slade/Robin rapefic, BakuKami omegaverse - but not so much because it was out of my comfort zone. Rather because I hadn't written or thought about writing it in any intensity beforehand, even if I had read similar fics before.

I've shot down requests that would be out of my comfort zone because I personally don't vibe with it. So I think as long as I like reading it or it doesn't squick me, I'll probably give it a shot if I like the idea presented (whether by my own hellion brain or someone else's, lol)

More updates for Mankai Stage subs

I’m gonna start not putting the thumbnails of videos in the song posts just in case, and they won’t be going into the main tag anymore, they’ll all be put under the Mankai Stage subs tag. Only playlist posts and miscellaneous songs will go in the main tag. I’m still deciding if I wanna keep them in there for only a day or permanently, so we’ll see.

Also, as a reminder, I said this yesterday but DO NOT REPOST MY SUBS ANYWHERE. THATS THE FASTEST WAY TO GET US ALL IN TROUBLE.
