the first episode/chapter of dandadan has sexual assault scenes, and while nothing past that point is as intense as that first scene, sexual assault does NOT go away. on top of that, there is non-sexual nudity of teenagers, there are jokes about okarun's balls throughout the whole manga, there broadly seem to be themes/discussion of violating bodily autonomy - if those things make you uncomfortable, i suggest either bracing yourself or checking something else out

I cant help but equate this world to MoM/his story a lot, ok??? Like. Creating a whole world in the search for perfection. One where dark and light don't exist and cause imbalance — but another force (perhaps of your own creation, or another version of /yourself/, even) comes and corrupts the world anyway.

The life that spawns from this newly created world being a life form all its own, unexpected and better than any "perfection" you might've imagined.

Looking for "perfection", order, and balance, when "perfection" was right in front of you all along. In your imperfect creations. I just? Idk? I need, these concepts, to. Come back? Pls? IDK WHAT TO MAKE OF IT ALL OK let me beeee 😭😭😭

Edit: my tags reminded me that the thing driving me extra nuts was the bit in DDD where sam's dad created the grid in search of perfection, only to realize in the end that his own son was already "perfect"

And ofc my father/son-obsessed ass goes nuts thinking about how, MoM creates a world in search of perfection (the absence of concepts like light and darkness, or the perfect balance between them i dont remember at this point)—

hunter’s mark, reversed: You never forget your first kill, they always say. 

midnight (close to you): Lincoln Li-Wilson is tossing and turning in a vain attempt at sleep when his phone buzzes.

dust to dust (tell me i am good enough): The silence between the two of you stretches like a rubber band, chafes like an ill-fitting starched shirt.

kiss me on the sidewalk (take away the pain): Being the main character is not all it’s cracked up to be, sometimes.

As far as underlying patterns go, i feel like the very obvious one is that I tend to establish the POV character like. Immediately. From the get-go, since the majority of these have the name of the pov character in them (even if they're not always narration of the pov character themself). It also looks like there's a slightly lesser tendency to start off things with an action of some sort - or inaction, in some cases - which I think is kinda interesting since I hadn't clocked that about my own writing before! And tend to keep things pretty short and sweet for the beginning hook (with one notable exception, but I think that's because Terry Junior's just Like That in my head lmao). All in all, pretty neat insights. Thanks again for the tag, Travvy - this was pretty fun 🥰🥰🥰

Against all reason I am actually rewatching Sherlock and 2x1 really is a torture. The boomerang??? The boomerang??? And what they did to my poor girl Irene! I mean I'm rewatching the thing but holy shit

You ever read your own story and remember how GOOD it is, actually?

(hi i'm gonna ramble about ddd for a minute here.)

I always forget how SMOOTH the escalation in DDD is! It starts out as ''Dove's not disciplined enough in training so she can't get her powers to work right'', then "oops she keeps breaking things with her powers because she can't get her emotions under control", and evolves into "animals get hurt", and then ''she's murdering people", but even the murders have escalation! Starting off with one that's so nebulous she thinks it was probably a dream, until her emoticlone is like ''No, that was real." And at the chapter I'm reading now (15 or 16?), she's VERY present in the moment and very consciously Making It Sadistic and Having Fun.

Also, the TAKEOVER! She starts out denying anything is wrong, then kinda being like "Okay SOMETHING went wrong there but it's fine, it's over", and then "oh god I hope that doesn't happen again" and then she's desperately trying to STOP it but she doesn't know HOW. And then later she's going to lose all hope and stop bothering to try because she can never win, anyways.

Also, the murder scene with the children is like. Almost indulgently heavy-handed with how it characterizes her mindset so DIFFERENTLY. Even the word-choice and things she's paying attention to, the things she dismisses. Her confidence and pride in the demon mindset comes through so CLEARLY! You really can tell something's VERY DIFFERENT about her!

And the conflict with Raven! It starts out with Dove feeling embarrassed because she can't do what Raven's instructing her in training, and it starts escalating with "now she's losing control of her powers and Raven is frustrated because Dove's not doing what she's telling her to", and then Raven starts picking up on clues that Something's Very Wrong. And tries reaching out. Tries asking about it. But Dove clams up and won't tell her what's going on because she can't bear the thought of Raven being angry at her, or disappointed. Which of course only frustrates Raven further. And Dove can tell. And the shame makes her withdraw even harder, which makes Raven more suspicious, and it's just this vicious downward spiral.

Like! I often get caught up in "holy shit I wrote a story where people get murdered by an absolute pacifist" but it's ACTUALLY really well transitioned? All those hours I spent reading and re-reading the individual scenes before putting them in order, re-organizing them, and making sure it made sense and transitioned from one phase to the next as smoothly as I wanted... It Worked. It really, really WORKED.

(Also, I really like my version of Raven, okay. She has the impatience and brevity of the cartoon version, but the concern and compassion of the comic version. Her powers have the distinct creepy visuals of the cartoon but it's described with the mysterious power of the comics. She's every bit as reticent as the cartoon [which she also is in the comics, let's be real] but also every bit as invested as she is in the comics. She CARES, but she doesn't really know how to show it. I Love My Raven So Much, Guys. She's a custom blend specifically to please me, really, but I am SO VERY PLEASED.)

It starts out seeming like it's just minor everyday hassles and evolves into DOVE IS KILLING PEOPLE.

This fricking story, guys.

GENERAL INFO A Bundle of Blonde is a Sonic The Hedgehog AU set after the events of Sonic Prime. The story revolves around a character named Marianne The Hedgehog, a young hedgehog who's village was destroyed by Robotnik. Sonic and Shadow save her from the invasion, and take her back to Hedgehog Village to care for her. Eventually, Sonic and Shadow's relationship blossoms into something more the more time they spent together, and they quickly become her unofficial dads. (Tried to keep this vauge because details will be revealed in the stories! Information on the characters will also be quite vauge, all will be revealed soon >:D)

uhhhhhh, this is probably a good time to mention that will is an unreliable narrator. fair warning to the henry apologists/appreciators that this is not a pro-henry story. aha. :fuckboy_emoji: :fuckboy_emoji:

in case ur curious, or even if ur not: this AU takes place several years before canon starts. i went with the “4 years ago” date from the original montauk pitch for when joyce and lonnie divorced, which puts will at about age 8 and jonathan at like 12. anyway, that’s why ~12yo henry is so much bigger than will lol, i prommy i’m not just shit at scaling 🙏🙏

apologies for the serious inconsistency in the art, even within individual pages. you can literally see me putting progressively too much effort in with each page lmfao. a bitch been hella busy the past couple of weeks and i’ve only been able to work on this very sporadically. also doesn’t help that i had to redraw and redraw and redraw like half of this chapter. the 2nd page pains me particularly bc in my initial draft i had the door on an angle to show the rose window and spent H O U R S messing around with it to make the perspective work, before realizing the angle didn’t match the direction will was facing in and i didn’t want to redraw him. the worst part is that it looks better compositionally the way it is now ToT

hmmmm i put way too much text slanted to the left and like none slanted to the right... oh well i am not changing that i will scream if i have to touch any of these pages again
