Here are some typeface and monogram designs from the type specimen book Modern Lettering Design and Application edited by Herbert Hoffmann and translated from the German and printed in Germany for New York publisher William Helburn Inc. sometime in the 1930s. Shown here is the work of several noted German type designers and calligraphers, including Heinrich Jost, Rudolf Koch,  Ernst Schneidler, Arthur Schulze, Anna Simons, and Emil Rudolf Weiss. 

Our copy once belonged to the “Reference Section” of the General Society of Mechanics and Tradesmen of the City of New York, and and you can see its ownership stamp on the last image. This copy also bears the ownership stamp of Hayward Cirker the founder of Dover Publications.

Weiss will sometimes use her Glyphs to restrain her partner or herself.

Sometimes she does it involuntarily without even realizing. Then either her partner will have free reign to plow her in whatever position she twisted herself into, or they with me unable to move while Weiss powers herself out while using them like a human dildo.

Friends AU: After team RWBY throws a big Halloween/Birthday Party that involves all of Atlas and part of Mantle, how does the gang react to finding out Jaune never went to the party because he never got an invite even though Team RWBY all swear they invited him?

Ruby: We said we were sorry!

Weiss: My clothes are still in the drycleaners getting all the pink out of my clothes!

Yang: Uhh, Blake...? Blake? (Snap, Snap, Snap!) Hey, stay with us!

Blake: Sorry! I went to the sushi restaurant, and I sent a message to, Weiss to have her tell him instead.

Weiss: I remember that call; I was going to complain to, Blake about dumping her responsibility on me. But, she sounded like a junkie needing her fix when she was talking about that sushi restaurant.

Yang: That...! That sounds true...

Ruby: Yeah, she enters this weird trance when it comes to sushi...

Nora: It rather scary really...

Weiss: Well I decided to tell, Jaune so, Blake could get her... fix... And, I was about to tell him...! And, then the soda bottle incident happened...?!

Nora: Sorry...

Weiss: And, you all know what happened... So, while I went to get changed, and have a shower. So I asked, Ruby to do instead.

Ruby: And, I did!

Nora: If you did, then why isn't, Jaune here?

Ruby: I don't know?! I went to him during dinner, we chatted about out missions, and then I handed him this handmade invitation letter!

Weiss: A handmade invitation?

Ruby: Yes!

Weiss: That same letter that's in your hands, right now...?

Ruby: Ya, this the same lett...?!

Ruby: Oh...?

Ruby: Oh shoot...

Nora: So... you all weren't able to tell, Jaune about the party because you were distracted by one thing, or another... And, when you finally got to him, you didn't hand him the invitation?!

Cinder: *perplexed* That's nice and all, but wouldn't it be dangerous for your family to go there? You know, with the white fang and all?

Weiss: I... Uh... Hm... *Pensively* Well, the working conditions are improving a lot recently and the wage gaps are slowly but noticeably getting better between the workers, so i don't think they would hate us as much? I think? *Shaking her head dismissively* Your dad's going to be there, so nothing bad should happen. He's the Rusted Knight!

Cinder: *smirk* WAS the Rusted Knight. We can't call him that now that his armor's all pristine and shiny, right?

Weiss: So what, he's just the knight now? *Looking skeptical* That doesn't sound badass.

Cinder: *shrug* I don't have that problem, i can just call him dad.

Weiss: *pouting* I wish he was my dad. He always has time for you, while mine is never available. *Looking sad* He couldn't even come to the recital last week...

Cinder: ... *giving her friend a hug with a slight blush* You were the best... And i'm sure he wanted to be there.

Weiss: *reciprocating the hug, with a little smile* I know... And it's not like i can really blame him. *Sigh* But it's frustrating...

Jacques: *rolling his eyes, putting the letter in the fireplace* I can't leave Atlas soon enough.

RK: Another complaint from the council?

Jacques: *sigh* Indeed. *Smiling* Selling the CDC the rights to some of the mines gave me just enough to buy back the shares owned by the council. And with that out of the way, i can finally reopen trades with Menagerie! That should boost our profits AND help ease tension between humans and faunus. More profits mean i'll be able to give better working conditions to my workers which will diminish unhappiness, reducing the number of Grimm attacks and so on.

RK: *sigh* It's a shame you had to renounce having a seat at the council.

Jacques: Bha! To the devil with them! A bunch of corrupted assholes is what they are! *Sigh* And if it hadn't been of you, i'd probably be the same as them... *Shaking his head* Not probably... Certainly is more accurate.

Easter eggs:

- the printing press is a reconstructed Gutenberg press

- the news text behind it features an apology from the Oxford Gazette (arguably first newspaper) about the last edition being delayed due to The Great Fire Of London; a letter to the editor of the London Times by Charles Dickins; a page of ads from the 1800's; and a article from the Illustrated Police News about a 'orrible murder

- i based the art style on the Illustrated Police New's more cartoon-y illustrations

- I based Gunilla Goodmountains design on a illustration of Gutenberg

- I meant to have the text be in Boddoni (because that's the other dwarfs name) but I mixed up font trays and it ended up being Weiss I think, the "Pratchett" is in sestina I believe

- it was really hard to line up all three layers of this
