Had he been that bad? Leona had no doubt he had scowled, pouted, perhaps even threatened Kifaji once or twice. He knew the old man had plenty of stories, and that perhaps this interaction was karmic retribution that had long since been written in the stars, but surprisingly it doesn’t bother him. As much as he still considered kids a pain in the ass he had a certain amount of patience for his own, willing to deal with her tantrum but without babying her. A loss was a loss, and he made it known he wasn’t going to go easy just because of her acting out, which only seemed to negatively affect her mood. He’s surprised when she asked to play again another time before storming off.

Leona sees the gears in her head turning with each loss, her moves more carefully thought out (though her age and inexperience showed, despite it all). She began to recognize his favorite strategies, yet still couldn’t figure out how to stop them, her frustration welling up to the point of tears at certain points. He remained calm as ever, not teasing or acting smug, simply continuing the game and seeing if she was still invested or needed a break. He didn’t know how he got such a determined and stubborn child but it was amusing, to say the least; despite each loss she continued to demand they play together.

She wasn’t a challenging opponent but it was fascinating to see the way she was growing, how much influence she had taken from him while he also had front row seats to the way they differed. It was a bonding activity regardless of the pre-determined outcome, which might come to change the older and wiser she became, but Leona decided he had to see it to truly believe she could beat him.

Origins Logan -

Ugh he would be so damn sweet and careful for your first time. I think he'd be a little hesitant as well because he's worried he's going to hurt you but he totallyyyy talks you through it. He also does a whole date before hand to help you relax. I'm talking a candlelight dinner into a nice relaxing bath into making out on the bed. Once he has you fully relaxed he makes sure you're okay and then he'll spend all night showing you just how you deserve to be treated.

Trilogy Logan -

Oh man his ego is relentless. He would be grinning from ear to ear like a total jerk when he hears you're a virgin. In the least creepy way possible it makes Logan so damn excited. He's a little worried about tainting you with his mess but fuck you're so sweet and you're trusting him of all people with this. Now just because he's cocky doesn't mean he's a total asshole about it. He will always make sure you're comfortable but he will tease you about it till you're too flustered to think. Of course he offers to be your teacher in ever aspect and will happily spend hours answering all your questions.

DOFP!Logan (gray hair) -

He feels guilty but also very intrigued. Like he's an older man now who should not be messing around with pretty virgins but he can't help himself. He may be wiser and kinder but deep down he's still the man he was all those years ago. He also guides you through it for sure like origins logan and just. Mmm fuck. He def grabs your face and checks in on you during it too to make sure and he absolutely demands that you call him sir and promises to teach you everything he's learned over his long life.

70's Logan (I'm adding him bc i just couldn't ignore him with this scenario)

He's so fucking filthy maybe you should never have told him. He fucking smiles like the grinch when you tell him. He's mocking when he tells you not to worry, that he'll take real good care of you and fuck you dumb until you can't even remember your name. He takes sooo much pleasure in know he's your first and being the one you trust with this just makes his ego go crazy. You beg him not to be so mean and he coos like the nice man he is and tells you he'll be on his best behavior. He does love it if you cry though but only because of how good it feels. He's also the guy to be like "make sure that whatever dick you sleep with next does this" and just like takes you apart so easily to prove he will always be the best man you've ever been with.

Old Man Logan -

He feels so horrible but he can't say no to you. He tries to talk you out of it. Like tells you he's not the man you should trust for this and to find someone who's less broken and can treat you like you need to be treated. He almost sees you like a fragile glass doll and he's a sledgehammer. But you refuse to budge. Trying to convince him that he's not going to break you and that you're an adult and you know what you want an you want him. He's not as athletic as he used to be so its much slower than he would like but he does everything he can to make sure it's a memorable experience. (It totally is)

Worst Logan -

Oh man so I said he was a shameful perv and I meant it. It should not turn him on as much as it does and he beats himself up for it mentally every time he so much as looks at you. You're innocent and kind and he's mean and old there's no way he can be the one to take that from you. He's like an animal though and when you look at him with those cute eyes and beg him to take your virginity he just breaks. He is a weak, weak man. He checks in on you a lot and makes sure he's not doing anything wrong. Almost too much because you just want him to hurry up with it at some points. But Logan is whining and panting as he shows you everything you've been missing. He does feel guilty but fuck it he'll repent later.

he's also always the butt of the joke because of his age. you'll lightly poke fun and call him old when he references something that's before your time, and your friends all refer to him as "grandpa."

you two do not share the same humor. he'll make a joke and die laughing while you're sitting there completely lost (and vice versa).

he claims he's always right because he's "older and wiser" which makes you roll your eyes. he usually is always right, but that's besides the point!

date night is hard to plan because you want to do fun and exciting stuff like party, but he wants to do relaxing and romantic stuff.

you tried to do a cute cooking date once, but he got frustrated because he's such a control freak in the kitchen.

you two argue like an old married couple. looooooots of bickering because he's too mature, and you're very immature.

talks about stuff and asks you to do things that he expects you to know and gets very bitchy when you don't (he's got the sass of a teenage girl)

tries to get you to come to court to see him win at least once, but you find it boring. all the legal jargon and having to sit quietly the whole time makes you want to fall asleep.

finding a show or movie to watch is sooooo difficult because your tastes are so wildly different.

same thing with music. you'll put on a new song you like, and he'll roll his eyes and tell you to put on something actually good (even though half the time he ends up actually liking the song)

he's very worried about what other people will think of your relationship. he loves you and wants to show you off, but he worries that the age gap (completely 100% legal, of course) will rub some people the wrong way.

sometimes, he gets insecure about his grey hairs and wrinkles, but when you tell him how much you love them and how sexy they are, he immediately feels a million times better.

TOS McKirk are so special to me. Jim and Bones share such a profound intimacy that only comes from deeply knowing and loving someone for a very long time. From the very first episode of the series, they already have that sweet "old married couple" energy I love so much.

I headcanon them as friendly on-again-off-again exes who love each other deeply and remain intimate in lots of ways, whether or not they are an official couple at that particular time. I also headcanon that Bones, who is a little older and wiser, was Jim's first romantic and sexual relationship with a man.

I can also see them in a deeply fulfilling queerplatonic partnership, and I totally get when people ship them in that way. But I personally headcanon that their deep emotional intimacy is both an ingredient and a byproduct of an absolutely electric sex life together.

The hallmark of their relationship is constancy. They always have each other's backs. Sometimes you just NEED somebody around. They are that somebody to each other.

They are each other's emergency contact, best friend, shoulder to cry on, drinking buddy who will hold your hair back later if needed. The first person you tell everything to, whether it's good news or bad news. They genuinely enjoy one another's company and they have lots of fun together.

My two favorite glimpses into their intimacy that are 100% canon: Bones has the Enterprise equivalent of a key to Jim's door and is able to open Jim's door without knocking (Obsession), and also, they sometimes get dressed together (Journey to Babel)!

Perhaps most importantly, they are both great communicators. They sometimes lose their shit with each other like anyone else in a stressful situation, but they always come back and talk about it later in a very healthy, direct, no-frills way. They openly apologize for their transgressions. They forgive each other.

Just look at this exchange from Friday's Child:

KIRK: Bones. MCCOY: Yes, Captain? KIRK: I shouldn't have chewed you out. I'm sorry. MCCOY: I understand.

Or this exchange from The Man Trap:

MCCOY: Another error on my part. KIRK: I'm not counting them, Bones. Are you in the mood for an apology? MCCOY: Oh, forget it.

As people sometimes say, Jim and Bones are the soul and the heart of the TOS triumvirate. As much as I love everybody's favorite Vulcan-Human, sometimes love doesn't need as much mind as you might think it does. Sometimes you don't have to overthink it. Sometimes it's just comfortable and intimate and unconditional. Sometimes you can just say, "I understand" and leave it at that. That's what McKirk is to me.

Don't get me wrong; I ship every combination of the TOS triumvirate. But Spock is so guarded and repressed and turned inward. It makes him exciting and interesting and unpredictable and sexy. But it kneecaps his relationships in a lot of ways.

Bones would never have a sibling he failed to mention to Jim. If Jim found himself in a fuck-or-die situation got so horny he was feeling distracted, he would simply tell Bones (and Bones would fix it for him right away). It's uncomplicated.

Of all the twosomes in McSpirk, McKirk is the most like a real, healthy, happy couple. Real-life relationships are mostly honesty and intimacy and allowing yourself to be vulnerable and showing up again and again. Putting in the work AND enjoying the fireworks. That is what McKirk is to me. I'm so glad we have a day to celebrate this beautiful love story!

trying to make sense of the timeline in naruto is a nightmare bc kishimoto is very inconsistent so i decided to make up my own headcanons.

rin is the oldest in team minato, her birthday is nov 15th, so she's 3 months older than obito. she's also the tallest. on the days obito and kakashi try her patience she'll just pretend she can't see them anymore bc she's So Tall and they're not in her line of sight. "oh no i can't find my teammates anywhere! they're So Tiny i fear i might have accidentally stepped on them. they will be missed 😔"

obito (feb 10th) is 7 months older than kakashi. he's totally the type to lord it over him like: (on the day he turned 12) "you see kakashi, i'm older and wiser than you. when i was your age-"

that makes kakashi the youngest (sep 15th). your honor he's just a baby! the babiest even! he definitely tried to forge his documents to make himself older (too bad his chicken-scratch handwriting gave him away)

She isn't as possessive as the others but she doesn't like seeing girls flirting with you in the high profile parties that take place. She wouldn't come out and tell you she doesn't like it but will make sure you know that she is upset.

"Nothing, You should go and meet with your 'important' business clients. I will just wait here" Gaeul replies.

Yujin

Similar to Gaeul she doesn't like when girls flirt with you or try to get touchy with you. Knowing full well that they are only doing it because of his money. But she does let you know very clearly that she doesn't like it and is very vocal about it.

As soon as you make it home, you are attacked by Yujin, She bites your neck hard.

"Ouch! Yujinie that hurts why are you suddenly biting me?!" You almost scream.

"I'm marking my territory, I don't want those old slimy ladies thinking that you are available. You belong to me and no one else can have you," Yujin says her eyes filled with anger and lust.

Wonyoung

Wonyoung will not accept any sort of flirting or touching at all, she gets jealously easily, a single touch is enough to set her off. She doesn't care where you are, she will make it known that you belong to her and only her.

As you are talking to your potential business partner, you are interrupted by Wonyoung's kiss. It wasn't a sweet and innocent kiss but one that was possessive.

She pulls away but only an inch away from your face and whispers "That bitch was getting too comfortable, Daddy, She should know that you are mine."

Wonyoung now stands next to you with her hands wrapped around your hand and a sinister smirk plastered on her face.

Rei

Rei is similar to Gaeul who gets pouty when she is jealous. Her mood does sour very quickly when you spend a lot of time with a woman other than her.

"Baby, why are you pouting? Did I do anything to upset you," You as clueless about what's upsetting her

"I don't know why don't go ask that bitch what I am so annoyed about seeing that you like talking to her so much," Rei replies, voice filled with anger.

"They say you get wiser with age but it seems it completely skipped over you," Rei says.

Liz

Probably the most shy and least likely to express her feelings verbally. She tries her best to suppress her jealousy because she knows that you love her but when the other woman starts to get a little too touchy Liz can't hold back. She is too gentle and shy for the other woman to be intimidated and you know that very well.

Seeing the woman constantly touch your hand and occasionally even your chest pushes Liz, past her limit. She walks toward the both of you but all she does is stand close to you but slowly tug on your blazer.

This was a sign that liz wasn't happy, she only pulled on your clothes when she didn't like something, so you immediately excused yourselves.

"What happened, baby girl? is something bothering you?"

"I-I just didn't like how much that woman was touching you. Only I am allowed to do that to my boyfriend," Liz manages to say.

The biggest argument for the "Jack was never meant to go back to the past in the show's original conception" theory I can see is Amon-Ra answering Jack's call for help against Minions of Set, but demonstratingly ignoring his request to help him go to the past (if Gods are stronger than Aku, they should be able to undo his time spell, right?)

Then again, the Guardian episode almost directly states that Jack is meant to go back to the past, only after growing older and wiser.

I'm of the headcanon that Amon-Ra didn't help Jack return to the past for the same reason that the three gods just gave the emperor a sword rather than kill Aku themselves: they consider Aku to be a problem too small for the gods to get involved in, he's the mortals' business. Set and his minions are Amon-Ra's problem, if Jack asks for anything else he's peacing out.

On the doylist level, the reason he didn't help Jack is because the show writers wanted a cool ancient Egypt-themed episode (so Amon-Ra showed up) but they didn't want to end the show and send Jack home yet (so he didn't help Jack with that). ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think the stronger evidence that Jack was always meant to return to the past happens on the meta level:

The show NEVER presents a potential win condition for Jack outside of returning to the past. It NEVER asks him to consider "what if you give up on returning to the past and simply kill Aku in the future?"

Any time Jack does try to kill Aku in the future, it's never presented instead of returning to the past; it's just something he's doing while he's here and killing him is conveniently available, and he'll presumably still return to the past later. We don't see him hunting Aku except when he stumbles on a lucky opportunity to track him down (the Gangsters, the moth prince & princess); otherwise all his time is spent looking for a time portal, not Aku.

Seriously. The show never gives us a win option outside of time travel. The FANS think of alternative win options that involve staying in the future, but you've gotta separate what the fans imagine from what the show itself actually tells us.

A couple times he chooses "save the people right here in front of you rather than use this route home," but every time this happens, it's framed as "Jack is such a good person, he's willing to temporarily FAIL and set back his quest for other people"—the show never frames any situation that involves "choosing not to return to the past" as a win.

The one time in the show when he had THE STRONGEST POSSIBLE motive to stay in the future—he'd just fallen in love with Ashi—as soon as he gets his sword back, what does he try to do next? Hunt Aku down and kill him? No: find the Guardian and his time portal. Even at the moment Jack is offered the greatest temptation to stay in the future—the show flat out ignores it. "Not returning to the past" is NEVER, EVER, EVER presented as a potential win condition.

The theme song is the words "I'll be back, back to the past, Samurai Jack" over and over. Not "I'll stop Aku" or something. Aku isn't important enough to mention in the theme song. Time travel is.

This show was never gonna end any other way because the show itself never gave any other option.

I... am somehow having trouble comprehending the casual queerness in episode 7. Specifically these quotes from Agatha:

"You want a straight answer ask a straight lady."

"I like the bad boys."

"I was your mom's ex.... best friend"

Somehow I just... wasn't prepared for the titular character to be casually queer in a way that feels genuine to her character. I just thought they'd mess it up. Or not see it through. Not pay it off, fail somehow to make it feel real. Billy is real. His boyfriend and gay humor are very real. But somehow making this older, wiser character queer feels different.

Making a younger character queer makes it easy to separate the older generations of MCU characters from the younger ones. Oh he's Gen Z, he's a side character, he's the comedic relief allowed to be gay. But Agatha is older, literally centuries old, just as powerful and just as central as the original MCU heroes, and she's... queer. And casual about it.

The casualness is just as important as the intensity of Agatha and Rio's actual interactions. I think part of why casual representation is important is because when queerness is always intense, it makes it feel like an anomaly. Like a chapter of someone's life that they'll remember, but move past. The casualness... It brings queerness into the MCU in the way we've all dreamed of since the beginning. All those silly wonderful headcanon posts about bi or trans Peter Parker, the Tony Stark "I love sucking *repulsor noise*" post, even Stucky. This makes it seem possible.

I never thought I'd get this from the franchise that I've loved for so long. I never thought I'd see the day, and it feels dramatic and weird and I'm more shaken by it than I thought I would be. I thought by now I'd just fallen into the dichotomy: queerness is more normalized, so queerness isn't necessarily a shock anymore vs Marvel will never do casual queerness. It just doesn't exist in the MCU. And now it does. I never could have imagined this.

Sometimes I forget why I still run this account, when all the best of the MCU seems to be in the past. It hadn't even occurred to me that it could be this.

Post-Rumbling Mikaani yessssssss!!! The thing I personally tend to think about the most is that they probably grow close over letters. It's actually a pretty common headcanon from the fics I've read haha, but something about Annie writing letters, actual letters, to the only other person who, at the beginning, could match in her terms of fighting skill, and then later, come to understand how Annie felt about everything, just touches my heart so much T///////T

Mikasa and Annie don't get to see each other until the Ambassadors finally return to Paradis after 3 years.

But in that time, the letters they exchange transition from stiff, cold, cool, lukewarm, sentimental, warm, friendly, banter and jokes and complaints to finally, heartwarming sheets of paper filled with words they'd likely never say aloud in person.

3 years of letters. That's a lot. That's a lot of time and a lot of ocean separating them, but at the end of it when Annie sees Mikasa, a little older, a little wiser and none the better for crying over Eren, she feels - I know her. I know Mikasa, and in all the letters, I've known Mikasa.

The hug then, is a tight embrace that cannot be put to words :>

Coucou!

As some of you know, I came back to the jily community last year after a long hiatus and for the first time ever (despite being a long time reader) decided to try my hand at writing fanfiction in the form of a lil' monster called "Catch the Wind."

At the time, I thought absolutely zero people would read it and it would immediately get lost into the interspace along with the millions of other fanfictions in the world. For this reason, I am ashamed to admit that many of the early chapters had zero forethought, editing, or reflection upon their publications---It was a project literally written on some headcanons and a prayer...and I am still so so shocked that it even got an inkling of followers much less the kind of support I recieved (and have continued to recieve) since it's start.

With this being said, as I've worked on other projects I've seen my writing evolve and found myself getting stuck as to how to move forward when a lot of this fic doesn't feel like a current reflection of my writing. There are so many things I would have expanded, redone, or developed more but I didn't know it at the time because, well, hindsight is 20/20.

So, as I've been sitting here for the better half of a week trying (and failing) to push myself forward with a new chapter, I think what would be best for me would be to *big inhale* rewrite it from the beginning.

I have no timeline for this and I don't know just yet if I will wait to finish the whole rewrite to start republishing, but what I DO know is that I'm not giving up on it and I will see it through to its finale in whatever form that takes (I've been burned so many times by unfinished fics... I refuse to be my own worst enemy!)

If you would like to read it in it's infancy 1.0 form, I will still leave it on AO3 and add the link below, but know eventually I will pull it to make way for 2.0 (again timeline tba) I'm sorry to everyone who is bummed that I won't continue it as is, but I hope this will be for the best: me and my Lily and James are (hopefully) older and wiser now.

Again, I still am so shocked by the amount of love and support I have gotten not only for this fic but my writing in general. You all have my endless gratitude and I cherish every kudo/review/comment I have recieved. While I'm working on 2.0 I will be continuing to publish new works so hopefully you won't be too too mad at me :)

Rosalyne was, as children are, young and interested in learning, eager but never quite aware. She loved to trail along by your side as you took her up the mountains to find a patch of flowers, at which point she would plop down in the grass and get to work making herself a flower crown with an extra one so you could match. Since your mother taught her the secret, she had happily taken to it and off to the races she was, linking flowers and matching colours in pursuit of the prettiest arrangement she could make to be her crown.

She long ago decided that Windwheel Asters are among the best, with an interesting shape and fiery red to contrast her blonde hair. Calla Lilies have a similar colour but a bad shape for flower crowns, and Cecilias are too pale to stand out the way she'd like them to. Windwheel Asters are bold and show off her hard work better than any delicate flower could.

Of course, that means she must also find the perfect flower for you, and that's hard work, but she'll never stop trying. Rosalyne read in a book about an extinct flower called the Padisarah, a beautiful purple flower that even the Dendro Archon couldn't perfectly replicate, and decided it would've been perfect for you if it still existed. You suspect that it's only because she can't have it that she wants it, the allure of something mystical that exists only in the imagination.

She settles instead on the legends of a Liyue flower that blooms at the sound of beautiful music—Glaze Lily or something to that tune. Each time Rosalyne makes a flower crown for you with the next best thing she can find, she claims that one day she'll travel to Liyue, and when she does, she'll bring you back one to see how pretty they are as if she has some greater understanding looking at the same picture in her book as you did. Maybe she does.

There is no dream too big, not for Rosalyne. She is desperate for your approval at every turn and wants you to think she's as cool as she thinks you are. She wants to hear you smile with her despite seeming so far away at times. Her phase of being petty and squabbling with you is over at last, and she seeks the comfort of the one person she looks up to more than anybody for a guiding star to turn to—you.

Your parents are both far away future ideals for an older Rosalyne to aspire to be, maybe with that boy she likes, but you are not so distant. You're like her, if only older and barely wiser. She sees all that she wants in you, and it makes her look up to your guidance above all else. Her parents are the annoying rule makers who preside over her life and ruin her fun; you're the fun troublemaker who sleazes the both of you past the city guards and takes her headfirst into the danger of the mountains just so she can play.

Rosalyne thinks of an ambitious future, and your parents tell her to be careful; you tell her to chase it. Become a scholar and do as she pleases. She's more inclined towards your indulgent way of thinking. You have yet to stifle the burning passion she holds but recognise it, and in your mind, it's about as cool as dragons could ever be. It is not the worrisome uncertainty of instability and hardship that your parents think it is.

Her heart is set in a far-off place—Sumeru, the Akademiya, where she feels everything will fall into place like a fairytale. Rosalyne has it all figured out, down to the number of boys she'll reject in pursuit of that boy she has had a crush on since she was twelve.

Even you're not privy to that, subject to Rosalyne quickly closing her diary or turning away from you, hiding the gifts she managed to get him and letters she wrote out but never could quite work up the nerve to send. It used to be only one of the many instances that would have her yelling at you not to snoop, though it has dwindled to being only one of the very few instances, save for accidentally discovering her in the process of procuring your birthday gifts.

It used to be that you would be searching for your missing things, a few of which had disappeared suspiciously close to your birthday and were found the moment you were proudly presented those very items as gifts from your little sister, sometimes with a daring tale of how she acquired it for you. Most of the time, you acted surprised and grateful, maybe even added a comment about how you were glad you didn't have to get a new one since Rosalyne had gone out and done it for you. You hid your annoyance at her habit of stealing your things behind thoughts of how cute your mother thought it was that Rosalyne didn't want to be left out of getting to give you something.

Rosalyne does, however, realise the possible benefit of asking for your help with this boy once she gets over the embarrassment-driven beet-red cheeks and yelling at you. You cannot find her boy and drag him by the ear to her, but you could help her write a letter to him or teach her to wrap that gift she was holding onto. You can do any number of things to help her chances— except talk to him. You can't do that, or you'll give it away with that big mouth of yours.

You're not quite sure how she came to that conclusion.

Her acceptance to the Akademiya came all too quickly. Years seemed to fly by, and her quirks evened out into a young woman your parents were more comfortable sending away to another nation. Their fears of her immaturity and fiery passion dragging her down settled as she did. By the time you were ready to send her away, the encroaching elegance you had seen forming in her younger self blossomed until she carried herself with more confidence and grace than ever. 

Like your parents, you are ready to watch her pursue that dream and come home to see the boy she likes still waiting for her. You make sure she knows you'll be there too, maybe even come visit every now and then and see Sumeru for yourself.

As she leaves, you reveal what you've been hiding for her—a single red flower. You're not as practised at the art of making flower crowns, but you found her this. This is all you can offer that she can carry with her until it wilts away.
