So a while ago some friends were talking about fans who claim the Same Coin theory is canon. And I made the mistake of saying:
Do you know who also has tons in common with Bill? Mabel. Yet nobody claims Bill reincarnated as Mabel. âŚwait now I want a "same coin but it's Mabel" AU. Funniest Bill reincarnation option. The all-seeing arsonist is making macaroni glitter art. The omnipotent tyrant is crying because a unicorn called her a bad person.
And then I overthought it for two months.
SoâAU where after death, Bill's soul shoots 13 years into the past and reincarnates as Mabel. I'll call it ⨠Sparkly Coin AU â¨
Don't leave yet. Lemme show you why it works. Behold the eerie amount of parallels in their personalities, dialogue, behavior, mannerisms, tastes...
I could have kept going but my attention span ran out. All right, we all on board now? Convinced we could segue from one personality into the other? Great. Now here's why you should be interested: the juicy post-Weirdmageddon angst potential.
As long as a small fringe of the fandom still thinks Weirdmageddon is Mabel's fault, why not amp that up x100 and have some fun with it?
Is everyone sold now? Great. Let's get into the details. I've got 8 more pieces of art under the read more.
So the AU starts the instant Bill dies. Thanks to invoking his deal with the Axolotlâone way to absolve his crime, a different form, a different timeâthe Axolotl gives him a new shape and shoots him thirteen years into the past. Apparently, the Axolotl thought it would be very funny to stick Bill in the family that defeated him.
Which probably made for a jarring transition.
(It's fine, she's like 10 minutes old, she probably can't even tell who she's looking at. Not being able to tell who she was looking at is what got her into this situation ayyyy)
When Dipper & Mabel come back from Gravity Falls complaining about this triangular jerk Bill, their parents mention that Dipper's name was nearly Bill. See, after they knew they were going to have a boy, one night their mom dreamed about a visitorâsome kind of magic pink salamander??âcalling her child "BILL." Then at the next sonogram they found out they were having twins, the girl must've been hidden at a weird angle the first time, and they wanted matching names, so they thought, Bill and Bell. But they didn't really like Bell; but eventually they stumbled on Mabel, so to keep the names matching they switched from Bill to Mason. Isn't that the darnedest thing?
(Of course, Mabel and Dipper assume Bill harassed their parents to try to trick them into naming a kid after him. To be a jerk.)
When Bill meets Mabel, he's unaware that she's his future selfâBill's notably bad at doing things like, say, double-checking to see whether he's going to die anytime soonâbut like... he can tell something's up.
Naturally, before visiting Gravity Falls, there were echoes of who Mabel used to beâbut nothing anyone would be able to identify without context. All her Bill-ish quirks either smoothed out with time (see: how between second grade and fourth grade Mabel went from being the "freak" to the popular girl in class), or else they were accepted by her family as Mabel-ish quirks.
After they meet (and kill) Bill, they have the context to understand some of Mabel's behaviors... and unfortunately, some of Mabel's latent Bill-ness starts surfacing after she's been directly exposed to her prior incarnation.
The part of the Pines family familiar with Bill thinks the worst case scenario is that maybe Bill's survived and is slowly possessing Mabel; but far more likely, they think this is just some weird way of trying to subconsciously process last summer. Mabel doesn't think she's being weird, you guys are being weird, stop giving her weird looks. They get attacked by one triangle and now she can't wear yellow or pick up macrame as a hobby??
(It's not all red flags and uncomfortable triangle imagery, though. When Stan asks her what she'd like as a gift for some important event, she shyly admits that she thinks she's starting to outgrow her plastic gem jewelry and maybe she's old enough to get her first piece of real gold jewelry, if that's not too expensive? And Stan's never been so proud of her. Thirteen years old and already thinking about buying gold!)
But of course, the real fun starts when Mabel finds out.
That's the face of a girl who's just discovered that she tortured her great uncle. Now imagine running into the brother she possessed.
But I've already spent a million words and thirteen images on this post. If enough folks are interested in the AU maybe I'll expand on it later. Let me know what y'all think.

KAMPFyre: Part 2 - Convinced
âAre you serious?â
âYeah, I donât see the issue. I feel like it actually worked.â
âOh my God!â Karina shouted, her voice brimming with exasperation. âHow do you not realize that this guy basically just convinced you to give him a blowjob?â
âHe seemed really kind, though,â Winter pleaded, starting to get embarrassed. âHe did it to help me.â
âHelp you? You realize it makes no sense, right? Letting a guy cum down your throat isnât going to help your vocals.â
âHe said it did, and I believe him,â Winter muttered quietly, looking down at her feet.
âYeah?â Karina scoffed, crossing her arms. âDid he also say youâd dance better if he fucked you?â
âNo! He never tried to force anything like that!â Winter argued back. âIâm not stupid.â
âSo it was just a blowjob? Thatâs a relief at least,â Karina sighed, letting her arms fall to the side. âAt least you didnât do anything really stupid.â
âY-Yeah, just a blowjob,â Winter lied, avoiding eye contact with her bandmate. âPlease donât tell anyone else.â
âCome here,â Karina said while pulling Winter into a hug. âI wonât tell anyone. In the future, be more careful, okay?â
âIâm sorry,â Winter whispered.
âItâs fine, no one else will find out,â Karina reassured her while patting her back. âItâs in his best interest to keep this a secret, not that anyone would believe him even if he did speak up.â
âIâm really dumb, arenât I?â Winter asked while standing up, pouting at Karina.
âNo, youâre not really dumb,â Karina sighed. âItâs fine, you learned a lesson, that doesnât make you dumb.â
Winter nodded, feeling a bit better about the whole ordeal.
âSo, howâd it taste?â Karina asked casually.
âWhat? Iâm not answering that!â Winter replied angrily.
âCome on, whatâs done is done,â Karina chuckled. âWe might as well talk about it now, it was your first blowjob, right?â
âYeah, my first.â
âSo how was it? Itâs honestly kinda exciting,â Karina pushed. âI still remember mine.â
âYou go first,â Winter said, her face getting warm.
âWell, he didnât last very long at all,â Karina said, thinking back. âHe wouldnât stop apologizing for finishing in my mouth so quickly.â
âDid you like the taste?â Winter asked, her curiosity taking over.
âI loved it,â Karina gushed. âI let him play with my tits for like two minutes, and then as soon as my lips hit his cock he filled my mouth. He barely lasted thirty seconds.â
âWow,â Winter sighed. âMine took⌠a bit more effort.â
Karina cocked an eyebrow. âDonât feel bad, every guy is different,â she added. âYou got there eventually, not every girl can do that.â
âYeahâŚâ Winter exhaled. âI donât think it tasted bad, but it felt so weird.â
âYouâre just not used to it,â Karina laughed. âSince apparently you love giving random dudes blowjobs now, maybe youâll find someone whose taste you like.â
âHey! I donât,â Winter whined while angrily walking away.
âWhere are you going, I was kidding!â Karina shouted after her.
âGoing for a walk,â Winter mumbled before leaving the room.
Karina sat there with her eyes squinted at the door, suspicious of what Winter was getting up to, debating internally whether or not she should follow after her.
âI canât believe that happened,â Karina whispered softly while returning her attention to her phone.
â
âI canât believe that happened,â you muttered to yourself, still in absolute shock as you sat on the couch, scrolling your phone to find out more about Aespa. Apparently they were quite popular, which made sense seeing as how they were closing. Winter also had a bandmate who caught your eye, Karina - she was stunning.
Suddenly, there was a very aggressive knock on the door. You got up, quickly running your hand through your hair and fixing your clothes to look presentable. As soon as you opened it, you were pushed back into the room.
âDid you lie?â Winter demanded, glaring at you.
âLie about what?â
âYou know what Iâm talking about,â she hissed, her angry expression being unintentionally adorable. âThe load thing, was it all made up?â
âWinter, you agreed to do it,â you argued, trying to calm her down. âIt was my first time hearing about the⌠technique⌠but I think it actually did work.â
Her expression suddenly softened a bit.
âDo you mean that?â
âYeah, I do,â you lied while grabbing her hand. âWhat got into you? Just a bit ago you were so excited and happy about it.â
âI told one of my friends,â Winter sighed, slouching her shoulders. âShe basically called me an idiot.â
âYouâre not an idiot,â you said kindly, pushing her hair back over her ear. âIâm sorry if you feel like I tricked you, that wasnât my intention.â
âI told her that!â Winter said, her spirits lifting. âI really donât think you did either. Iâm sorry for this, I think Iâm just super nervous about tonight.â
âHey donât worry about it, I completely understand.â
After a bit of an awkward pause where the two of you simply stood there holding hands, Winter spoke up again.
âDid you really like my voice more afterwards?â
âI did,â you answered, despite not noticing any difference. âI donât know how I can make you believe it.â
âYou donât have to, I believe you already,â she smiled warmly at you. âI just knew I could trust you.â
âUh, yeah,â you were starting to feel guilty. This girl was unbelievably naive and it was starting to weigh on you.
âCould I ask another favor of you?â Winter asked, stepping closer to you.
âYeah, of course.â
âDo you think I could try again?â
This had to be a joke - you were almost convinced there were hidden cameras watching you now.
âWhat do you mean âtry againâ?â you clarified, reluctant to jump to any conclusions.
âWell, my friend told me she could make a guy cum just by touching her lips to his cock, I want to learn how,â Winter explained as she dropped down to her knees in front of you. âCould you please guide me?â
âI donât know if this is right,â you hesitated as Winter began unbuckling your pants.
âWhy not? You were happy to help me earlier without thinking twice about it,â Winter argued. âWhat will it take to get more help?â
âItâs not like that, I want to help,â you answered. âBut if we got caught, or if you told anyone again, Iâd get in so much trouble.â
âPlease,â Winter begged. âI promise I wonât tell anyone.â
âAs much as I want to believe it, you did just tell me that you told your friend.â
âIâm sorry, she wonât tell anyone else, please!â Winter begged, she almost looked like she was about to cry.
âOkay okay, itâs fine,â you calmed her down, if she was this desperate to suck your cock then who were you to say no. âAlright, go lock the door and then take off your clothes,â you instructed her.
Unable to believe this was about to happen, you walked over to the couch and sat down. Winter quickly ran over to you and wasted no time in stripping down to her underwear.
âDo you want me to take it all off?â she asked eagerly as she unbuckled her bra, tossing it to the side.
âYeah, itâll be better that way.â
She nodded and dropped her panties down, picking them off up off the floor and placing them on top of the pile of her clothes.
âHere,â you tossed a pillow onto the floor between your legs.
Winter dropped to her knees in front of you, eagerly waiting for your next instruction. You pulled your pants down to your ankles
âStart by using your tongue,â you suggested.
She nodded her head and leaned forward, sticking her tongue out and giving your shaft a lick. It was adorable how she licked up and down your shaft, not knowing exactly what to do, but doing it so passionately.
âGood, keep going,â you encouraged her.
The girl kept working, licking each side of your cock. Up and down she licked, spreading her saliva all over. Then she started working your tip, licking circles around it.
âOh yeah Winter, youâre getting good at that,â you moaned, closing your eyes as her tongue coated your cock. âLick my balls too.â
She was definitely a great listener. Without a momentâs delay, you felt her soft tongue press against your nuts, licking every single bit of skin. She put them into your mouth, still licking them while she sucked with all her strength.
âGood fucking girl,â you moaned again. âNow try taking my whole cock down your throat.â
This was something you had to see. You opened your eyes back up as she lifted her body up slightly to get a better angle. She took a deep breath before engulfing half of your cock and then pausing.
âYou got this,â you encouraged her as she struggled to go deeper. âCome on.â
She was pushing as hard as she could, her face getting slightly red. She got about three quarters of the way down your shaft before pulling it out and gasping for air.
âI canât, itâs like thereâs a wall,â she coughed, a trail of saliva connecting her lips to your cock still.
âIt just takes practice, try again,â you reassured her gently. âWhenever youâre ready.â
She wiped the back of her mouth with her hand and took another deep breath. After giving you a look of determination, she once again turned her attention to your cock, this time immediately plunging back down to the same depth she reached last time.
âOh fuck,â you gasped, watching her mouth stretch as she tried her hardest to push down.
It felt fucking amazing having her struggling to take your cock. The willingness was what really did it for you. Without thinking, you placed a hand on the back of her head and gave her a small push. Your cock went deeper down her neck for a moment before she immediately pulled back.
âIâm sor-â
âI did it!â she cheered. âIt felt like the wall just disappeared for a second, I guess I just needed a small push! Thank you!â
âN-No problem,â you stammered, taken aback by her reaction. âHere, come up here.â
Winter got up off her knees and climbed onto the couch so that she was on her knees next to you, bending over your crotch.
âTry to relax your neck,â you instructed her as you grabbed her head with your hands and guided her back to your cock. âIâm going to help you, just let it happen.â
âMhmm,â Winter agreed, her mouth already filled with your cock.
She moved up and down a couple of times on her own as you gave her a moment to adjust to the new position. After a few more, you pressed your hand down against the back of her head, forcing your cock down her throat.
This time, she managed to make it all the way down before launching back up and coughing. Before you could ask if she was alright, she had already pushed her mouth onto your cock. Again, you pressed the back of her head until she went all the way down, but this time she didnât pull out - she moved back about halfway before pushing back down onto your cock.
âOh fuck yes Winter,â you moaned loudly. âNow you got it.â
It went on for a few minutes where nothing but the sound of Winter gagging on your cock could be heard in the room. Sheâd pull back halfway, then push down all the way with the help of your hand. With each consecutive thrust, you felt less and less need to push with your hand - It was starting to get easier for her.
At this point, you were barely pushing the back of her head. You started to push your hips upwards, matching her pace so that each time she plunged down onto your cock you would shove your hips into her mouth.
Your free hand began to explore her body, reaching over and grabbing a handful of her ass. You squeezed it hard, gave it a few slaps, but nothing stopped the girl from throating your cock again and again. She was determined and it showed.
âHoly fuck Iâm getting close,â you gasped, feeling the pressure building up. âWait, stop.â
Winter released your cock with a plop and turned her head sideways to look up at you.
âI thought you were getting close?â she asked innocently.
âI am, I want to do it properly,â you answered, standing up from the couch and getting in front of her. âIâm going to fuck your mouth until I cum, alright?â
She nodded eagerly, sitting down and looking up at you.
âYouâre doing a fantastic job,â you complimented the girl as you brought your cock to her mouth.
She opened up with a smile before you shoved your cock into her mouth. Just like last time, you started to slam your cock into her mouth relentlessly. With a firm grip on her head with both of your hands, you started thrusting with all your energy, slamming your balls into her chin each time.
The intensity of it forced Winter to grab your thighs for support, but she held strong. She took your cock like a champ, not fighting against it at all, letting you use her throat for your own pleasure.
âIâm about to cum,â you warned her, a mere two seconds before it happened.
It wasnât clear if she even heard you, but as soon as you felt it happen, you pushed your cock as deep down her throat as you could. You held her nose to your crotch, making sure she could feel each and every gush of cum launching out of your cock.
âFuck yes,â you gasped, letting your cock empty itself into the cute girlâs mouth.
Once it finally felt thoroughly emptied, you let go of Winterâs head. She didnât immediately release your cock, she slowly pulled back - it was reassuring to know that she wasnât struggling. A bit of your cum spilled out of her mouth, sliding down her chin.
âHere, letâs not waste any,â you grabbed your cock and used it to scoop up any of the white mess that escaped her lips.
She gracefully opened her mouth to suck the cum off your tip until it was all clean. After swallowing as much as she could collect, she closed her eyes and sat there obediently as you began rubbing your cock all over her face.
âWhat the fuck is going on here?â
Instinctually you pulled your cock away from Winterâs face and turned around, covering your junk with your hands. In the doorway stood Karina, the girl you had looked up earlier, Winterâs bandmate.
âI thought I told you to lock the door,â you whispered to Winter.
âI thought I did!â she defended herself.
Karina closed the door behind her and walked into the room, right in front of the two of you. The anger in her eyes was somewhat terrifying, but it was difficult to not be blown away by her beauty even in this moment of anger.
âSo, youâre the one lying to my friend?â Karina hissed, staring right into your eyes.
âHeâs not lying to me,â Winter protested from the couch.
âShut up,â Karina turned her attention to Winter. âAnd why the hell are you naked?â
Winter sheepishly crossed her arms and legs to cover up.
âNo point covering up now, you have no dignity left to maintain,â Karina scolded her. âAnd you, why are you also trying to cover up? Come on, move your hands, you clearly have no shame.â
It was odd, you couldnât explain why you listened to her, but you moved your arms aside so that your messy cock was in the open. Perhaps it was because Karina was so fucking beautiful, you just had to listen to her. As she took a look at it, she seemed to pause for a second, losing her train of thought momentarily before snapping back into reality.
âSo whoâs going to explain what the fuck is going on here.â
âIt was my idea,â Winter mumbled from the couch. âI was jealous of what you said, I wanted to get better at it.â
The tone in the room immediately shifted. Karina crouched down next to Winter, wearing a soft expression on her face.
âHey,â Karina put a hand on Winterâs thigh. âI didnât tell you that stuff to make you feel bad, itâs not a competition.â
âIf it was, Iâd be losing.â
âItâs not,â Karina repeated herself.
âAnd I know you think Iâm stupid for thinking swallowing cum helps my voice,â Winter continued, the sadness felt in each syllable of her words. âBut I really believe it.â
âIâŚâ Karina looked torn, not knowing how to tell her friend she was an idiot while also not hurting her feelings. âLook, I donât think youâre stupid for believing it, maybe it does work for some people, and maybe youâre one of those people. I donât think itâs dumb to try.â
âYou really mean it?â Winter looked up at Karina with hopeful eyes.
âYeah, it canât hurt to try, right?â Karina smiled back at Winter.
âDid you want to try?â you asked, suddenly feeling audacious enough to take the opportunity at hand. You wanted to see how far this beauty of a girl would go to make her friend feel better. âMaybe it works for you, too?â
Before Karina could even speak, Winter lit up in excitement.
âThatâs a great idea!â Winter cheered. âLike you said, it canât hurt to try! And then I could also learn how itâs done properly!â
âW-WhatâŚâ Karina began to stammer. She was stuck and she knew it.
This felt like a fever dream. Standing there with your rock hard cock out while this drop-dead gorgeous girl consoled her nude friend. It made literally no sense. What made even less sense was what Karina decided to do next.
âI⌠guess I couldâŚâ she sighed, gasping as Winter jumped up from the couch and hugged her.
âThank you for believing!â
âNo problemâŚâ Karina answered half-heartedly while she glared at you over Winterâs shoulder.
After letting go of Karina, Winter got up and sat on the couch where you joined her. Karina slowly dropped down to her knees, lifting her arms up behind her head to tie her hair into a bun. Your cock was already itching to blow again, and you tried to mentally prepare for what was about to happen, but you knew already there was no chance youâd be able to last very long.
Winter watched intently as Karina began to lean forward, giving you a clear view of her very deep cleavage. Karina didnât even bother using her hands, she brought her lips to your tip and slowly parted them, engulfing your cock slowly.
The way she slowly inched your cock down her throat in its entirety made you realize immediately that this girl knew what she was doing. Just as slowly as she swallowed your whole cock, she moved back up until only your tip was in her mouth. She licked at your hole a couple of times before slowly going back down your cock.
Winter was in shock, watching her friend take your entire length with ease. You almost felt bad as you were reminded of how much the girl was gagging on your cock just moments ago, but those feelings lasted barely seconds as Karinaâs mouth was taking over all your senses.
Just as you predicted, this was going to be fast. As Karina bobbed up and down your cock, you could feel the pressure building up already - It was almost embarrassing. She started to move faster, steadily increasing her speed, consistently taking your entire length down her throat with each pump.
Karinaâs lips made a tight seal around your cock. Perfect, it meant not a single drop of cum would be wasted. She kept her lips tight, up and down your cock, using her tongue every time she came back up to coax your load out of you. It was working - much faster than your prediction even.
The thought of warning her as you were about to blow crossed your mind, but when you remembered that sexy glare of hers from earlier, you decided against it. Youâd probably feel bad about it, however right now everything felt right. She was fucking amazing at sucking your cock.
One final little lick of your tip was all it took. You started unloading ropes down her throat. Karina jolted as the first spurt shot into her mouth, but just as you predicted, she kept her lips tight around your shaft. By the time your second and third shots of cum surged out of your tip, Karina had already pushed her mouth down your cock. She held her mouth at your base until you finished unloading.
Then, as slowly as physically possible, she began lifting her mouth off your cock. She stared at you with that burning passion in her eyes, those unrealistically beautiful eyes, before tilting her head back slightly and parting her lips, showing you all the fresh cum on her tongue.
Winter squealed in excitement, covering her mouth and watching intently as Karina then closed her mouth again. In one singular motion, Karina swallowed, wiping her lips with the back of her hand.
âThat was so impressive,â Winter gushed, in awe at what her friend just did. âCan I try again?â
It took great effort to not burst out laughing at the absurdity of her words, but you held it together. You leaned back into the couch, breathing heavily as your cock softened in front of Karinaâs face, finally receiving some much-needed rest.
âNot now, you need to go get ready,â Karina replied to Winterâs request while keeping her eyes locked on you.
Winter quickly hopped off the couch and started putting her clothes back on. Even though you could see her in your periphery, your eyes were fixated on Karina. The two of you stared at each other, it wasnât entirely clear what was going on in her head.
âAre you not coming?â Winter asked after getting dressed.
âYou go, Iâll catch up in a minute,â Karina said, still staring at you.
No more words were spoken until Winter left the room and closed the door behind her. The pause felt like an eternity, only being broken up by the sound of your deep breaths.
âA warning would have been nice,â Karina broke the silence casually.
That was not what you expected. You thought sheâd be mad at you or threaten you or yell at you or all of the above.
âMy bad, I was lost in the moment,â you responded, equally casually. âYouâre pretty good at that, by the way.â
âI know,â Karina commented confidently.
There was a moment of awkward silence between the two of you.
âSoâŚâ you began to speak before Karina cut you off.
âWhat are you doing after the show?â

A/N:
Random inspiration, wrote this in basically one evening. I know it's not super long or anything, but this mini series is very much just a fun side project! I don't know exactly why I find so much enjoyment in writing such a ridiculous scenario, but hopefully someone else enjoys this silliness as much as I do.
Karina is very hot. Bit of a cliffhanger at the end I guess, but I'll just confirm now; Whenever I do get to writing the next part, it will probably be very Karina heavy. I don't know, I'm just on a bit of a Karina high lately.

a/n: had to write smth ab my man looking this good on a big day, oopsies / all fiction, don't really know how's behind scenes lol / i'm watching the series so i'm romanticizing the carrie type of writing, enjoy!
Thereâs an old saying⌠âwhat happens in Vegas, stay in Vegasâ, and for the New Yorkers with enough amount of luck, the equivalent of that would be: âwhat happens in the Met Gala, stays in the Met gala.â
You either had to be a celebrity with high status, or a very wealthy person⌠or sometimes, just part of the staff; yes you were in last link, but you were still happy.
There you were, on the first Monday of May, standing outside of the iconic decorated stairs of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, on the also iconic, 5th avenue of East side of Manhattan. Living your dream, because this year, you were inside, and not anymore as a viewer.
Life was going great for you, youâll graduate from college exactly in nine days, and you were booked as a tour guide in the Met Gala a month ago. It was your dream job, even though you majored in journalism, working for Vogue was always your dream to be, youâve been applying for the Met ever since you turned eighteen, and finally there you were wearing a vintage YSL black dress, from a vintage store in Soho, whose rent costs more than you apartmentâs, with some Manolo shoes, living your little Carrie Bradshaw fantasy. But that didnât matter, yeah, she was a woman with a steady job and you only a freshly graduated who expected to get hired as soon as you get your diploma.
They prepared you the whole past month, and you picked up your ID last week; this was going to look wonderful in your resume. You loved fashion, arts, writing, you didnât care there was another 500 people doing exactly the same as you, you were there, living inside your bubble of the gossip girl and devil wears Prada vibes.
A lot of people hated New York; but you never could, you had a nice apartment on west side of Manhattan and an incredible fashion taste. You had to work as a staff for one the most emerging kpop groups, Stray Kids, or at least thatâs what you read about online, you did your research: eight male members, only two of them fluent in English and the rest of them just shy to speak it out loud⌠you werenât that unfamiliar at all, you recognized kpop is one of the greatest genres these days, but you were twenty one and going through your finals as the provided you that information, so you followed their social medias, caught up a little in their updates, learned their names and faces âwhich was very importantâ, but couldnât fully concentrate in how handsome they were or at least get yourself a little of fangirlism. Once again, you were sinking in the lasts and very important moments of college.
So the thing was simple, they usually bring their own people around but for this event was the exception, once they stepped on the radar of these popular stairs, they were under the Met Gala staff, thatâs when you get in.
You were waiting for them standing among the group of people who would be working the same as you, all with their dress code in black-only etiquette, to go unnoticed. It was your first Met Gala, although you didn't want to flatter yourself either in such a big way, but you had chosen a sexy dress with your back uncovered, you wanted simplicity, but not too much. The heels were starting to bother you a bit until, as fate would have it, a stout black man in charge of monitoring, with headphones on his bald head and clipboard in his hand shouted in a strong New York accent to the group of people you were in.
âThe following celebrities are Stray Kids, I repeat so you can listen in the back, Stray Kids is coming! Their team step up to lead them in.â
Nerves got the better of you, it was your turn; you had seen your other âcolleaguesâ guide their respective assigned celebrities, so now it was your time. You hurried to the entrance, along with another girl and two other men. The large black van pulled up to sidewalk and finally, just as you had researched, eight pretty East Asian looking men exited one by one.
You tried to identify the one you had previously studied as their leader and one of the English speakers, until he finally emerged just to one side of you.
âIt's this way, boysâ your coworker, who was a little ahead of you, led the way.
The eight of them walked a bit and met their designer, the legitimate Tommy Hilfiger, while among the chaos of noise and nerves you tried to identify each one you were working for; they were all wearing long coats but you could distinguish that it was just to hide their real attire.
But apparently you were not the only one nervous, it was also their first Met Gala, an incredibly big event, a bit out of what they knew, in one of the countries where the music market was of utmost importance to consider and succeed, each one of them recognized that this was an important day and simply one more step in their artistic career. They were all nervous and excited; but even so you noticed a somewhat monotonous expression on each of them, you thought it was just nerves. You got a good look at them all as they talked to their designer in charge and noticed how each one had their own charm, they were attractive and smelled quite nice. You thought about how much fun this job is for you, being around celebrities.
âAnd y/n, right?â he came up to you, the man who had previously been giving directions to your boys.
You nodded, confused, he went on to say:
âIâm informed that you will be going into the museum with them, you can take the leadâ he said in a strangely kind tone.
You smiled at him, you had forgotten the last time you met a nice New Yorker. It was when you realized it was time, you took a breath with your cheeks and released them, once you saw they finished their little talk, you took a step so everyone could see you and introduced yourself; it was part of your job and you had been trained for it. You started with a âhi, guysâ, told them your name and added that you would accompany them to the exhibit. You looked forward to going in there.
You got the attention of all eight of them, after all they were still men, foreign men excited for a new experience. Once you turned around as you led the way you questioned if wearing that open back dress was the best choice, you hadn't really intended it that way; you also didn't expect them all to be 100 times more attractive in person, the pictures you saw on the internet didn't do them justice.
All the members of Stray Kids were with their respective emotions on edge, but especially one of them didn't know how to control himself. Felix, who at all times kept a serious countenance was more than excited and his body was reacting to it, betraying him, he was aroused. He wasn't exactly in the mood for sex, but somehow he felt uncomfortably hard. He was simply an excited little Asian boy with a not-so-little problem. An erection in his pants.
Felix had the experience at these kinds of fashion events, but simply something about this city drove him incredibly crazy. Somehow he was thirsty for sex⌠but he didn't feel like he was at this very moment. He had to put on his best show and control his body, he slyly checked his pants and it was a relief that the design was perfectly loose so it couldn't be noticed. But it all got worse when he saw his pretty young guide and staff for tonight, with her pretty makeup and perfect hair done, with her back uncovered.
Felix read her name on her ID hanging on her body and checked slyly if anyone else of his friends and colleagues thought the same as him⌠he could notice it in the look of his friend Bang Chan, however Felix noticed the little importance that Chan himself gave her and continued treating her with kindness and courtesy, who from time to time gave her a certain look was his other friend Seungmin, who was the master of disguise, but not for Felix, not after knowing him so long and living with him.
But that was just the thrill of the moment, as Felix took full control of his body as he approached his final stretch, an interview and then the longed-for Met Gala stairs. Like a pro idol, he knew how to handle it, and everyone had a spectacular and memorable entrance.
You saw them from afar, Bang Chan had introduced you to each one of them and thanked you for accompanying them even though you hadnât start yet, you thought he was an unreal man, in fact all eight of them were, their perfectly manicured faces and the subtlety of their make-up were to you soâŚ. You were speechless; but if you had to choose one, putting yourself in the shoes of millions of girls around the world even of your age discovering an attractive boy band, maybe among them all⌠it would be the only blond guy with long hair. You thought between sighs how cute he was, you were down bad when it came to cute boys, also the long-haired ones.
You remembered his name, Felix; a little strange, it sounded like an old name but somehow it fit him so well, you thought; now you were not only fulfilling your dream job, you would be together with eight handsome men, you almost wanted to let out a little giggle, but it was time to monitor how well they took the pictures of your âbossesâ as they posed on the carpet.
You waited a moment more before finally entering, it seemed like hours, until finally the doors opened for you and there suddenly you felt your heart burst, not even Felix's pretty face could have impacted you so much, the exhibition of unique pieces in the haute couture of fashion history.
âYou can start to separate and see freelyâ you mentioned to them.
You saw them, they looked totally lost.
âMm, I don't think so, we like to stay togetherâ Chan answered with a nervous smile.
âWell, if you like, we can start hereâŚâ you spoke.
You didn't want to keep them tied up nor did you want to feel like a big deal, you were only going to accompany them and follow their instructions, however they seemed to follow yours; you gave yourself the task of showing them every corner and giving them a little summary of what each exhibit meant, however you couldn't help hiding your excitement, your eyes shone with care and all eight noticed your adorable expression, even those who couldn't fully understand you because of the language barrier, your expressions spoke for themselves. And Felix couldn't take his eyes off you the whole tour.
Felix didn't understand what was wrong with him, whether it was the excitement of the foreigner, the significant change of time zone, his pretty part of the assigned staff, or the incredible urge to have sex. He wasn't normally like that⌠well, at least not in places like these. He left the dirty thoughts for later when he was in the quiet of solitude. But just now he had those thoughts of how hot it must be to be fucking someone while wearing that perfectly tailored suit, making a mess among all the tidiness that went with it all.
He wasn't like that⌠but the more he thought about it, the more he was tempted, he thought it would be the only time he would see you, that you had to be professional and not at all indiscreet, that it would only be one night. He was becoming more and more convinced, what was wrong with him? He was handsome, young, successful and very well endowed, he only needed to show his gifts to someone. Felix thought if that someone could be you; this was not Felix who thinks dating and love were important, suddenly something came over him, like a haughty alter ego blinded by his dazzling fame, ready to just have sex.
The main event started, the dinner and the show, you had gotten a table, only confirmed by the exclusively selected staff in perhaps, one of the worst areas, still you were in, from going to see the Met outside on the street, to being seated next to a bunch of celebrities in the same room; you were so happy you could die the next day thinking you made it.
But once the show was over, little by little so was your spark, it was time to go back to your reality and take a cab home; the folks at that table were mentioning something about an after party, among them and a bunch more⌠but you didn't want the smell of celebrities and fame to leave your pores and get lost in some stranger's apartment.
You were about to check out when a short woman rushes up to you asking if there was any Stray Kids staff at the table.
âHere, me!â you showed her your ID quizzically. âWhat's going on?â
âWhat are you doing here? They're escorting you to the after party.â
Puzzled, you mumbled a âwhat?â and followed her hurried pace as she was leaving.
âAfter party, with who?â
The woman stopped in her tracks and turned to look at you.
âWell, who are you working for.â
Impossible, you thought. You were supposed to check out and you weren't allowed to go outside the museum, they couldn't just invite you like that, could they? Why would they? Besides you were working for the museum, not for them. Sadly, you had to make it clear to them.
You walked towards them who were already at the main exit leaving with other celebrities, you got up the courage and approached them.
âNice to meet you guys, but I think it was a misunderstanding, I can't accompany you, I work for the museum⌠they didn't give me directions to follow you.â
âAnd what time do you leave?â Chan asked you with a hoarse voice and eyes fixed on you.
âJust nowâŚâ you added awkwardly, not knowing what to say as the eight men stared at you.
âPerfectâ Chan said in a thick accent with a smile.
âNow you work for us, let's go to the after partyâ spoke in a cold, distant and arrogant tone the pretty blond boy who had caught your attention.
You had not heard him speak, not until now. You were too surprised by the contrast of his angelic face and his incredibly thick voice.
You were able to register your exit and hurriedly kept up with the boys.
âWe liked the way you explained the exhibition, we will have you as translator nowâ Chan told you as he quickened his pace leaving you behind.
It didn't make the slightest sense what he just said. You don't even speak Korean.
You sighed and could not deny the excitement of living another adventure, it was not like they were forcing you, you were now going to go to the legendary Met Gala after party.
You got into a dark van along with more of their staff and in the minutes of traffic you were finally there. You couldn't believe it, for a moment you stopped thinking that things made sense.
Luckily you were not alone, but accompanied by another girl in the staff, all looked great but it was evident that no one wanted to socialize with you and it was difficult for you to do so; so you felt uncomfortable and out of place, questioning if you should really be there.
After a few minutes you noticed that Felix stood up from his seat, taking the button of his suit and slyly approached you.
âCan you come with me?â he whispered in your ear with his deep voice.
You froze, and followed him without thinking too much, something wasn't right when it came to himâŚ. besides, you thought you had to follow his instructions.
Felix went to a private bathroom, you wanted to think that maybe he wanted you to take care of his coat⌠if not, why else would he ask you to accompany him; he entered quickly, in a suspicious way and then came out quickly looking around frantically, until he pulled you by the arm and took you with him to that small elegant bathroom, locking the door. You couldn't process the speed of the actions and suddenly, you saw his piercing gaze in front of yours.
What was going on?
Felix had enough, watching you flirtatiously talking to Chan, sweet talking all his friends, there was nothing else to explain but that he was horny and wanted to have you right now. You weren't stupid, you noticed his looks but wanted to ignore them, but it turns out that wasn't what he wanted.
So there you were, inwardly struggling whether to play along with whatever he intended to do or put your ethics above⌠you analyzed him, he looked so good with his long hair and white suit, you'd probably never see him again, you wanted to bite your lip just thinking about how dangerous and fast-paced some kind of sex like that would be, on the sly. But you couldn't make up your mind, this was about Conde Nast, your dream, not easy access to fuck.
Felix noticed too the early darkness in your gaze, reflecting lust, he was already hard from just thinking about your ass slapping his pelvis as he thrust his cock in and out your pussy mercilessly. You so wet, making a mess, the two of you indulging in passion while a bunch of people decide to party outside.
âI don't normally do this but⌠I may only see you once in my lifeâŚâ
Felix said in a voice thicker than what you had heard and came dangerously close to you, who were glued to the door, perplexed.
âFelixâŚâ you wanted to think clearly but his full lips in a perfect heart shape were distracting you.
âIf you want to fuck me⌠you have to promise me to never tell anyone.â
Felix whispered plaintiff in your left ear, losing himself in the scent of you hair. You couldn't take it anymore, if he kept talking, you might cum at any moment.
You understood the situation of things and the importance of his comment, after all he was still a global superstar. But not telling would not only be a beautiful secret to take to your grave and something fun to remember, but it would also be beneficial for you, because under no circumstances should a female employee have sex with her assigned celebrity. You would be banned from all of Manhattan or the city if possible, public enemy number one.
He moved closer to your ear, thinly brushing his lips on it and making you lose control little by little by his approach. You closed your eyes, completely lost, fuck it, you would fuck him and never see him again, at least not this intimacy.
âWhy would I fuck and tell...?â you whispered completely lost in desire.
He chuckled, and finally grabbed you by the waist. Felix sought your lips and you kissed slowly, deeply and passionately, the kiss was so strong that you felt the pressure of his upturned nose on your face. You knew it was so wrong at any angle analyzed⌠but it felt so right, his lips were soft and he moved them with agility, your hands were still glued to the wall in surprise, but gradually you relaxed and managed to hold on to the ends of his jacket.
Felix also relaxed and his right hand moved down to your naked back and slowly and nimbly he moved his hand in until he squeezed and caressed your ass, his actions surprised you that you almost moaned at the touch, separating you a little from the kiss.
He pulled a few inches away from your lips and, as he ran his hand all around your ass, he looked you over with a look of superiority.
âYou're such a slut, only wearing a fucking thong, almost like you were ready for meâ he said with a husky voice.
This time you felt his noticeable bulge brush against your belly and his soft touch made you wetter and wetter.
âGet on your knees, beautiful.â
He ordered and you obeyed. Felix was sick of feeling horny, he wanted a quick fix, to strip the tight garments off his cock and be attended to urgently, once he had enough of his own, he was going to take over pleasuring you fully.
Your breath was getting shorter and shorter and you felt his member on the fabric, you thought about how good he looked from below and in all possible angles, then you pulled down his pants, ready to give him the best blowjob ever âor at least you hoped soâ, you couldn't resist, you simply pulled down his underwear too, finding his throbbing and delicious cock so needy, its tip was bright pink and poor Felix was already showing signs of small droplets of pre-seminal fluid, and to think he had a fine and angelic faceâŚ. You had never felt so hungry and desirous, you were totally possessed; you wanted it in your hands, in your mouth, pounding your face, pounding your cervix⌠so you felt it, that firm hard manly hunk, at the mercy of your hands, feeling every texture of his skin.
Felix gasped, lifting his buttoned shirt a little, revealing a bit of his smooth but working abdomen. You took some of his fluid and spread it all over his length, lubricating it, it felt so good, but you were also so needy and desperate, and the thin fabric covering your intimate area didn't help at all, you felt the garment getting smaller and smaller, you felt your wet pussy growing and throbbing causing a delicious friction; but you thought you had to be more careful, your whole outfit was black, one stain of semen or fluids and you had to pay for the dress.
You moved a little away from him, hoping that no droplets of him fell on your attire, still you held his erection tightly with your left hand, making frantic movements, back and forth.
He was ecstatic, it was all he needed, to be sexually attended to; the New York air suited Felix Lee wonderfully, and the New York girl⌠he thought⌠she was out of this world, her hands felt fantastic on his hard manhood. He wanted to cum roughly, but he wanted to do it dirty in his employee's mouth and pretty face⌠he would never act like the beastly thing he was doing in Seoul, but new place, try new things.
So between sighs and gasps, he lowered his gaze and tried to communicate with her.
âUse your pretty mouth.â
You never thought he was going to ask, you didn't hesitate for a second, and the grotesque sound of your saliva dripping on his cock were heavenly; his sex was hot and smooth, the texture felt so good inside your cheeks but once again, you are desperate for him to take you and start moving your guts.
Within minutes, Felix cum in your mouth amid moans and groans, and the softest but most effective hair pulls, to make you go exquisitely deeper. You never thought he was so vocal, with a voice like that, you were in heaven; and it took you only a few seconds to drink his cum, as a reward.
âI think we need to get rid of that dressâ he said trying to catch his breath. âI'll buy you 3 more, no worries.â
He took you by the chin, inviting you to stand up and helped you take off the dress, you were so excited that your vision was blurred and you couldn't think clearly⌠what was his next moveâŚ.
You were amazed at how incredibly hard and standing still he was even after he had just cum, you thought, after all kpop idols did have it all, great stage presence, big penis, music talent, and for sex too.
He sat you on the small counter, him facing the mirror, the stone was cold and you were finally, almost, completely naked in front of him, wearing only your thin thong. Felix wasted no time and positioned himself between your legs, kissing you deeply and desperately as you carefully felt the tip of his penis brush your wet center each time they came closer, he moved his kisses down, to your neck, massaged your breasts and kissed and sucked them mercilessly, you wanted to scream with excitement but you were acutely aware that there were people outside, never mind the noise of the party. Once on your chest, he turned his angelic face up, with a dark mischievous look and that's when you felt his thumb caress your clit.
You moaned in relief, finally your exhausted pussy was going to be given attention. His movements were slow until each time he increased the acceleration, you couldn't help but writhe in pleasure and when your body contracted ready to climax, Felix introduced his fingers inside you, he felt the softness of your insides so lubricated and ready to feel his erection beating you frantically.
âLook at meâ he asked once he saw that your attention was focused for a few seconds on his right hand playing with your pussy.
âUh-mmâ you murmured, nodding softly, almost in moans.
You weren't thinking clearly but decided to hold back the urge to cum just to feel his fingers inside you for a few more moments. You looked into his big dark eyes; you felt that he looked more calm and serious with that gaze locked on you and his innocent freckled look, unlike you that your eyes was totally submissive and you were almost about to cry with pleasure, oh and Felix loved that, all that mess because of him.
âI'm going to cum, FeâŚâ you moaned.
But you couldn't even speak, he accelerated his movements and your belly contracted so pleasantly bringing you to your first orgasm.
âI'm not done yet; let me clean up that mess you made.â
And without warning, Felix leaned down, gripping your thighs tightly, two of his fingers still freshly wet from my fluids, marked on your thigh; Felix ran his hot tongue across your cunt, licking all your cum.
He began to eat your pussy carefully, almost accomplishing step by step and you loved the delicacy of what he was doing, you were seeing stars, you didn't want this to ever end, you wanted him on you all the time. You took advantage and also took hold of his tightly tied hair. He did it so well that you had to cum a second time.
And finally, the act you both had been waiting for since he locked the door; Felix had saved the urge and was once again swollen and throbbing, screaming for attention and action. He cleaned the edges of his mouth in a attractive manner.
âShit, I don't have a condomâ he said in annoyance.
âIt's okay, I'd never have your baby anyway.â
Felix smiled and you watched his erection in front of your pussy, until he gently pushed it in, until you closed your eyes once again in pleasure.
âI'm going to cum inside you and make sure your pussy misses every part of me.â
Felix whispered hotly in your right ear as you pressed your bodies closer and closer together, until you ended up with your legs wrapped around his waist, crushing bit of his outfit, and your hands on his shoulders. And then, he rammed you fast and as delicious as no one else had ever done, you moaned softly to avoid any strange noises from outside. It was incredible, you thought, his rhythm was strong and constant and when you began to lubricate his penis more indicating your soon orgasm, Felix separated from you and in quick movements he changed your position, lowered you from the counter, turned your body and introduced his penis making you stand still and making you both see yourselves in the mirror.
You couldn't be happier, you loved the fiction of his shirts stuck to your body of the clothes he still had on, and he began to pound more frantically and wildly, giving way to the sound of your skins colliding and your fluids combining. Felix held you tightly by the waist as he pulled your body away and closer, controlling it in his own way, you wanted to help him, moving your ass a little but his grip was too strong. You were with your back arched, holding tightly to the sink, giving choked moans as you felt his strong thrusts. Watching him fuck you in the mirror was fucking hot, he looked so attractive with his half-open mouth letting out soft moans and his concentrated countenance, frowning and his eyes locked on your ass, then on you.
Felix grabbed your hair in his fist and pulled it to pull you closer to him and glued you to his body, just when you thought it couldn't get any better, his thrusts were deeper that way and you were touching the edge.
âDo you like the way I fuck you, little slut, huh?â
You tried to nod between gripping your hair.
âSay it.â
âYes-yes, Felix, ahh it feels good.â
âYou feel good too, sweetheart, you're doing a great job.â
His dirty talk close to your ear were just more elements to make you cum faster and faster and each time you were more and more surprised, as his pace increased, finally making you climax, for the third time.
Felix smiled in victory as he felt your pussy muscles first tighten and then relax releasing more of your luscious fluids, wetting and hugging his hard cock, Felix continued another small moment, until he cum gloriously inside you and a little more above your ass.
You were perplexed. The sexual connection had been real. You both tried to catch your breath, he helped you put your dress back on and as you changed, Felix felt a little bad about just using you for his carnal desires, for you honestly it had been just a good fuck and you had your feet on the ground being aware that someone like him and you could never be together.
âSo⌠Are you officially working on something related for Vogue?â
You smiled, as you tried to touch up your makeup, it was a bit badly retouched.
âNo, it's my dream, they just hired me as a one-off for this year.â
âMaybe you should learn Korean and move there, Vogue Korea is still Vogue, isn't it?â he mentioned flirtatiously.
You chuckled again, that implied many things and at the same time none for you.
âGo out first, y/n, then I'll go out. I'll transfer you for the dresses outside, I don't even have my phone hereâ he said, finally in his deep voice calmer, almost looking tender, in his thick accent.
You smiled and looked at him one last time, before finally leaving for the party. Leaving you wanting more, but also with nothing more than just sex in the city.

Chapter One
The idea came to you during a student council meeting as the class president was droning on about the â85 homecoming preparations: you needed to do something crazy, something completely and utterly out of character.
Maybe it was because of your ex breaking up with you just weeks before school started. Maybe it was that senior year itch. Maybe it was the realization that you were turning 18 next week. Hell, maybe you just woke up that morning with a strong sense that the things in your life were no longer satisfying you.
Whatever the cause, since the start of your senior year, youâve just felt so off.
Your ex, Duncan, breaking up with you right before school started was a low blow, and an absolutely shitty feeling - you didnât date much, but when you did, it was never the guy that ended things. It wasnât shitty because you were in love and oh so heartbreak, it wasnât shitty because you saw a future with him. It was shitty because of how goddamn embarrassing it was.
To your peers, you were a couple that made sense, and in fact people had been urging you to go out for a while. And, obviously, you had grown to like him, considering that you were in a relationship for six months - you never would have put up with him for that long if you didnât actually like him. But the fact that he broke up with you, and not the other way around, left a sour, spiteful taste in your mouth.
So, perhaps it was that break-up that made you feel different this entire month. Or maybe it was your impending 18th birthday, which made you realize just how close you were to legal adulthood. Whatever the cause, every single aspect of your life up to this point suddenly came under your deep scrutiny. You just werenât⌠happy?
That made it sound bad, but what were you enjoying right now? What got you excited every day? As you sat in the student council meeting, zoning out since the very start, you came to think that maybe you had nothing going on right now that you genuinely wanted in your life.
Hell, you werenât even on the student council because you enjoyed it, Janet just dragged you into it back in your sophomore year. You figured she loved the sense of importance it gave her. She and everyone else in the council probably got off on how important they felt, the dictators of Hawkins High School.
You always ran in this crowd, and before you never questioned it. The popular kids, the rich kids, the successful kids. You donât remember ever choosing these friends and acquaintances - if anything, it seemed that these peers were all a constant, as if theyâd always been there from the very start. You figured it was the natural state of the world - as the daughter of one of the richest men in town, you were predestined to end up here. Not here as in the student council, surrounded by other spoiled rich kids debating the difference between turquoise and cyan. But here in an even broader sense - in a finely curated life, in all the ârightâ circles, on the path to either greatness or becoming the trophy wife of greatness.
Up until now, youâd never questioned it. Yes, mom and dad, you were a popular kid whose free time was fully booked between college prep, figure skating, student council, dates with a cookie-cutter boyfriend, and everything else under the sun. Yes, mom and dad, you were doing everything they all told you too because it would look great on your college applications, because thatâs what youâre supposed to do, because thatâs how things have always been done.
It started to dawn on you maybe a week or so into the school year just how mundane you were - you never questioned your time spent skating or on extracurriculars, you never went against the order of things as dictated by only the most popular of your peers. Thatâs just what was done, what was always done. But after your ex dared to break up with you, you came to realize recently that maybe all of this wasnât what you wanted - maybe it was time to start making some choices for yourself instead of worrying what your parents told you or what your peers thought or what to do to keep your boyfriend semi-happy.
So, you started to consider what exactly it was that you wanted. And that proved to be more challenging than you anticipated, which probably would have sounded extremely pathetic if you had said it to any of the people sitting next to you.
Did you like figure skating? Of course, it was your idea after all. What you didnât like was the pressure from your mother to train and become an Olympian, a feat that was never your intention when you took up the sport at six years old. Besides, you told her, you were way past the age for trials, youâd never get in (or, at least, thatâs what you told her, because how the hell would you know whether or not there was a cut off age).
Did you like your friends? You thought so - youâd known them virtually your entire life, so you never questioned your relationship with them. But proximity didnât necessarily go hand-in-hand with likeability. Maybe some of them you actually liked, but the rest? No, they were just around because they always had been.
Did you like your relationship before Duncan broke up with you? No, probably not. Of course, your opinion of him and that entire relationship was soured now, but even at the time, you were probably just going through the motions, doing things that couples do without any real heart in it.
So⌠What did you want? What did you actually like?
It was jarring to realize that your entire life had been dictated and finely tuned for you from the moment you were born, that even the things you wanted had been molded into new shapes by your parents or your peers or your teachers.
Once you realized how little of your life was in your own hands, you couldnât get it out of your head. You always saw yourself as someone who was in control, as someone who couldnât be told shit. And yet, you came to realize that that was far from the truth. It was as if suddenly everything about your life was something you hated. You hated your classes, you hated your friends, you hated running in the same circle as your ex, you hated all your obligations. Through the first few weeks of senior year, all you felt was frustration, disinterest, and absolute boredom with everything around you. Something had to change. And during the bullshit student council meeting, you became determined to make it happen.
So, over the course of that boring as all hell meeting, you tried to figure out what you wanted, and how you were going to get it. You set a goal for yourself, silly but helpful considering the structure you were so accustomed to: youâd set your plan in motion on your birthday. New year, new you, right?
Once you gave yourself that deadline, you then had to think about what exactly you were trying to accomplish - yes, you wanted to make some major changes, you wanted to, in a way, become a new person, but how were you going to do that?
You settled on four key things to keep in mind:
You wanted to piss off your parents big time - your dad barely acknowledged your existence and your mom coddled you, so actually upsetting them would be a feat unto itself. You had to become so awful that even your mother would stop making excuses for you.
You needed to drop your friends - the more you thought about all the people you grew up alongside, the more you realized that you werenât particularly interested in relationships with any of them. Whether you made new friends or not wasnât a priority, in fact you kind of liked the idea of just being left alone.
You had to figure out what you actually enjoyed - outside of skating, you had no idea what really interested you, what you would like to do with your life and your free time. You figured it was time to do some self reflection and focus on finding things that youâd actually enjoy.
And, most importantly, you had to get back at your ex. Yeah, it was stupid to be motivated by a boy, but nothing would make you happier than seeing him worked up and frustrated. Your focus wasnât on trying to win him back or anything like that - you wanted to piss him off, to exact some kind of revenge for making you look like an idiot when he broke up with you at a party that all your friends had attended.
How you were going to accomplish these, however, was yet to be determined. But they were a damn good starting point, and they got you motivated to become an absolute nuisance to everyone around.
ďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďš
The Friday following the student council meeting, you decided to first experiment with a little something, satiate a mild curiosity. To anyone else, it was probably the most mundane thing in the world, but to a high schooler who thought graduation was life or death, doing anything out of the ordinary felt nail-biting.
You were going to sit at a new lunch table.
You had just two days left until your birthday, until youâd officially set your plan in motion, so you still had a little more time to come up with something. So far, you couldnât think of shit. You were already someone who was blunt and commanding and mean, whose thoughts and feelings were always on your face, so people were used to you being bossy and a little miserable - you couldnât start being meaner or blunter, you just knew that wouldnât be enough. Maybe you could start skipping class, maybe you could start flaking on friends, but somehow none of that felt like enough, like it wouldnât make a statement. You had to really make an impression, to really set yourself up for a total ruination of your social status, you just hadnât figured out how.
But a new lunch table was as good a starting point as any, right?
You chose a table at the far end of the lunchroom; customarily your group of friends, acquaintances, and ex sat centrally, surrounded by the jocks on one side and the academics on the other. The new table you chose was only occupied by two other people, a dorky little couple who looked at you funny when you sat as far from them as possible. In turn, you gave them an icy cold glare, prompting them to look away quickly, like you were a Medusa who could turn them to stone.
Your stupid little lunchroom plan was a bust, though. Five minutes into your peaceful lunch, your two closest friends, Amelia and Janet found you, each looking perplexed and put-off by your seat of choice. They looked around before lowering into the seats around you, their expression full of something akin to disgust, as if sitting at a different table was that offensive.
âWhat are we doing over here?â Amelia asked judgmentally, eyeing the couple at the opposite end of the table. Across the lunchroom, a few people (including Duncan) from your usual lunch table looked at you funny, âItâs like weâre exiled or something.â
So dramatic, you thought while staring harshly at her.
âChange of scenery.â You answered plainly, stabbing at the food in front of you. Amelia hummed in acknowledgement, but still made it quite clear that she didnât agree with the decision.
âWhat, does this have something to do with Duncan?â She jabbed, receiving another nasty look from you, âSo, heâs a jerk? Get over it.â
You shouldâve known this idea was too simple to work. Of course theyâd just follow you like the lemmings that they were, just as unable to make their own decisions as you were. Yeah, you definitely needed to try something bigger to scare them off.
Briefly, you thought that you could maybe tell them, just say point blank, âAmelia, Janet, I hate being around you and this friendship is done.â But, again, you figured that wouldnât be good enough, that theyâd laugh at your mean sense of humor even if you reiterated yourself. In this crowd, being mean was never enough to make your point, because all of you were nasty, not only to each other but to virtually everyone you met.
And despite your well-known attitude problem, you still cared about Amelia and Janet, flaws and all. These were the girls that youâd known since you were five years old, of course you worried about their feelings at least a little bit - nearly 13 years of friendship would do that to anyone. Guess you had more of a heart than you gave yourself credit for.
You definitely needed a foolproof plan to get out of this friendship, this social circle, this popular bubble that youâd always been trapped in. The friendship had to end without you saying so. You had to push them out until they finally gave up on you. Make it seem like it was their idea, that would definitely work on them.
As you schemed, Amelia and Janet chatted around you. Various acquaintances stopped by the table, all with the same question: what the hell were you guys doing sitting all the way out here? Even Duncan was amongst those that asked, trying to ignore the way you glared daggers at him. Amelia and Janet gave various responses, all of which put blame on you as if this simple little decision meant their utter ruination.
As Duncan was preparing to walk back to your usual lunch table, a commotion rose out in the hallway, the echo of rapid footfall drifting in through the doors. Multiple heads turned to face the cafeteria doors with curiosity, some people peeked out into the hall to check what the yelling was about, scurrying back to their friends to report what theyâd seen. You, Amelia, Janet, and Duncan all waited silently, sharing raised brows and curious looks.
Not even a minute later, Eddie freaking Munson came crashing into the lunchroom, a look of total glee on his face as he cackled, not even remotely fazed by all the eyes on him. As he tumbled through the cafeteria doors, you jumped a little at the burst of sound. Eddieâs disruption turned everyoneâs heads now, the lunchroom silent in shock and loathing as the resident outcast ran between tables, heading for the set of doors at the opposite end of the room. Your gaze was locked on the shit disturber as he blew past your table, carelessly running into Duncan in the process, but even that collision didnât slow him down. Duncan yelled at him, but Eddie was focused on one goal, and if this were a cartoon you definitely would have seen dust kick up behind him from how quickly he was moving.
Not too far behind was Coach Miller, a look of absolute rage marring his puffy red face as he pursued Eddie. It didnât even seem to cross his mind that he was making a fool of himself in front of the entire student body - his only focus was stopping the offender of whatever shenanigans currently pissed him off.
Your gaze turned back to the excited Eddie, an undeniable curiosity rising in you - what the hell did he do to piss off Coach Miller this bad? Sure, the coach was always pretty damn temperamental, but you couldnât recall ever seeing him look quite this upset before.
Eddie paused at the cafeteria doors to turn and pull a mocking face at the coach before darting from the room, as if nothing in the world could touch him and he was unstoppable.
As Coach Miller disappeared after Eddie and students returned to their usual conversations, albeit with an air of awkwardness, you stared at the cafeteria doors thoughtfully.
Thatâs when an idea began to form.
You needed to take a page out of Eddie Munsonâs book. If anyone in this school knew how to be a thorn in everyoneâs side, it was him. So, you spent the remainder of your lunch brainstorming, trying to figure out how to channel even a sliver of Eddieâs energy; you only chimed into the conversation when someone spoke to you directly.
ďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďšďš
In the middle of fifth period, you still werenât quite sure what your game plan was, but you at least had a vague starting point. While your history teacher rambled on about some significant European war that you couldnât begin to care about, you tapped your pencil as you thought about Eddie Munson (a sentence that very nearly grossed you out).
Youâve known about him since your freshman year - at the time, he was a year ahead of you, but since then heâd been held back. People always sneered when talking about him, as if Eddie was the most offensive thing theyâd ever encountered, as if he was some kind of plague. He went against all social norms youâd learned up to that point, he was contradictory to everything youâd ever been taught about social conduct and likeability - he wore ratty clothes, listened to scary music, acted out in the most theatrical ways possible, and never seemed to give a shit what anyone thought.
You had never spoken to Eddie personally. Through the years youâd had a few classes together, including your math class this year, so youâve witnessed some of his antics. But really, you knew nothing about the guy. Just the things that everyone else told you, and those things were nothing good. Whether or not Eddie was as bad as people said didnât matter to you. His reputation was shit, and in this instance thatâs exactly what you needed.
So, how were you going to ruin your senior year with the help of Eddie Munson? Well, at the very least, maybe you first had to have a conversation with him. It would be pretty stupid to walk up to him and go âhey, Munson, I know everyone here hates you, how about we chat and you make them hate me, too!â
Maybe you needed to find a way to hang out with him? Pretend to be friends long enough that the rest of the student body begins to ostracize you? With a little amused huff, an even worse thought crossed you: maybe you needed to pretend you were interested in Eddie Munson for a while, that was sure to piss just about everyone off. Especially Duncan.
But then the idea gave you pause.
You could not pretend to flirt with, or even date, Eddie fucking Munson. No chance in hell that would work. No way he would go for it, and no way youâd be able to tolerate him long enough to convince anyone that you were even remotely into him.
But⌠maybe?
Shit, what a stupid idea.
Or maybe it was a brilliant one.
You mulled it over a few minutes longer - if you were going to, somehow, convince Eddie Munson to pretend to date you, you needed to offer him something in exchange, that was obvious. You needed to give him a good reason to help you out, or this plan was never going to work. Its chances of success already seemed slim to none.
You had one idea, though you werenât entirely certain if heâd go for it.
Your Uncle Tom was a cop, had been with the force your entire life - and youâd bet heâs probably had at least one run-in with Eddie. Maybe youâd tell Eddie that you could get cops to leave him alone, to stop watching him wearily whenever they were around. You couldnât promise him too much, of course, but you knew at the very least that you could get your uncle to leave him alone. Or you could even take the fall here and there for whatever trouble Eddie inevitably lands himself in - what cop was stupid enough to arrest the niece of a cop and the daughter of a man who owned half of Hawkins?
It wasnât foolproof, and you knew there were flaws to be found, but it just might work.
So, with your mind made up, you rip a scrap of paper from your notebook and scribble out a quick message:
Letâs make a deal. Sunday. You pick the time and place. Locker #436
Youâd hoped that Eddie would be smart enough to realize that you wanted him to write you back, to drop his own stupid note in your locker so you could meet up and tell him your stupid, crazy idea. God, this better work.
You swiftly raise your hand in the air, giving a small impatient wave when your teacher didnât acknowledge you right away, instead trying to focus on his lecture.
He rolled his eyes when he spotted your hand in the air, pointing at you and saying in an annoyed monotone, âWhatâs so important that youâre interrupting?â
Without any hesitation, you state bluntly, âLady troubles.â
The teacher looks shocked by how plainly you stated it. But because it was you that said it and not someone else, your peers didnât dare laugh, although a couple boys seemed to choke in surprise or amusement.
âGo, goâŚâ Your teacher waved you off before continuing his lecture, wanting to forget the small interaction entirely.
You exited the room and roamed the halls confidently. Eddieâs locker wasnât hard to miss - he was one of the students that decorated the metal with crude permanent marker sketches, and the school was too cheap to care about replacing or painting over it. As you approached Eddieâs locker, you checked around to make sure no one spotted you; it wasnât as if you were committing a crime, but you didnât need anyone wondering what you were up to in case this plan didnât work.
So, you slipped the note into his locker, returned to class, and waited impatiently for the final bell of the day to ring, hoping that Eddie would actually stop by his locker and not just leave school without ever seeing your note.
When the end of the day came, it took everything in your power not to rush back to your own locker - just in case, you didnât want him spotting you there. Why all the secrecy, you sure as hell didnât know, but you nonetheless continued it.
So, you waited, stopping into the bathroom to check your makeup, walking with Amelia and Janet as they stopped at their own lockers. As the three of you exited the building and walked into the parking lot, you pretended to remember something, telling them that you needed to run back inside. You said your quick goodbyes and went back to wandering the halls, finally opening up your own locker.
It was stupid that your heart leapt when you saw a crudely torn piece of paper resting on top of some of your belongings.
You opened it quickly, eagerly reading the metalheadâs response:
Picnic table behind the football field, 4.
God, what were you getting yourself into.

âââââââââââââââââââââââââââ-
For as long as you can remember, you knew you didnât feel right with who you were. You wore the dresses, the skirts, joined the girls line when you were split off and you were ok with it, but it never felt right. You wanted to get your hands dirty, skin your knee, and you could do all of that with the girls, but you wanted to do it with the boys.
Your parents seemed to acknowledge this and your family just labeled you a tomboy. It wasnât until your last year of middle school that you realized who you were, what you were. You were a boy, you were trans.
After going back and forth with yourself, you go to your parents with tears streaming down your face. With the way you and your parents were raised, it didnât seem like they were going to be accepting.
âAre you done blubbering?â Your mom had asked you, which made you cry even more because you didnât know if that could be good or bad. âWe knew this could be a possibility with you just wanting to be with little boys.â
âJust because your grandparents have a skewed perspective on gender doesnât mean we do.â Your dad joined in with a hand on your shoulder.
And with that started your transition journey. First with therapy, then doctor visits, and finally testosterone. When you started taking testosterone (end of sophomore year), you and your parents moved to give you a fresh start. With their careers, they could work anywhere as long as they could travel.
Plainview was just that, plain, but it got the job done so you can lay low. You couldnât even point it out on a map, but it seemed like a great place to get a fresh start. Family homes, mom and pop shops, and maybe 6 schools around. No one knows you, seeing as you moved almost cross-country, so perfect.
Your first day wasnât anything like you imagined. You thought you would be clocked immediately, especially since in the rush to move and get enrolled in school you had forgotten to get your haircut. You lucked out though, because the only reason someone (besides a teacher) came to talk to you was because of your Pearl Jam shirt.
That was the day you met Rodrick Heffley, resident âbad boyâ with a band that wasnât shit (you could say that seeing as you were in it) and a taste for rock and metal. Thatâs who came to talk about your shirt.
âYou listen to Pearl Jam?â He asked, and you were immediately on the defense.
You knew you didnât exactly look the part of emo metalhead, you had heard it your whole life growing up. âListen to your normal music,â was a common one, and you wonât lie, it hurt. Especially from the popular white kids because it was just another tally mark against you.
âYes? What about it?â You snapped.
âWoah, didnât know I touched a nerve,â his face had reddened a little, but besides that it didn't change. âI was just gonna ask your favorite song.â
âWhatever,â you rolled your eyes. âI like Why Go from the Ten album.â
âCool, cool, thatâs a good one.â And then you both just stood there staring at each other. âDo you want to come over to my house after school?â
âI donât even know you, kid,â you chuckled, âwhat are you, a kindergartener?â
âWell excuse me for trying to be nice.â He rolled his eyes. âIâm Rodrick.â
He held out his hand, which you hesitantly shook. âIâm (Y/N).â
âSo are you coming over or what?â
And just like that he became one of the most important people in your lifeâ along with his best friends; Drew, Ward, Chris, and Ben. Present day, you are never without Rodrick, and he, you. It doesnât take a lot to convince the other to do something you probably shouldnât, which leads to you guys getting in trouble a lot.
Like how one time towards the end of junior year in the middle of the night, Rodrick and you snuck out for a carnival almost 2 hours away. You had been relaxing at home, reading, when you heard little tinks coming from your window. You knew it was Rodrick throwing rocks at your window. He always did that when heâd sneak out of his house to come to yours.
âWhat the hell do you want?â You jokingly whisper-yelled as you opened your window.
âCome to a fair with me!â He whispered back.
âLast time I checked, the summer fair didnât come until after school ended?â
âBecause itâs not the one in Plainview, itâs the one in Huntington! Just come on!â He groans.
âFirst of all, Iâm in pajamas!â You motioned up and down yourself. âSecond of all, thatâs almost two hours away!â
âSo what, youâve snuck out with me before! What makes this time any different? Come on, (Y/N), live a little!â
âFuck it, fine!â and you closed your window to change. Your parents were long gone asleep, so you doubt theyâd check on you, meaning you were in the clear.
You settled on baggy pants and a short sleeve, which is what you almost always wear, before you jumped out your window (you were on the second floor, yea, but your house wasnât that big so it wasnât a huge jump). Rodrick was waiting in his van, so you climbed into the passenger seat and set off.
You took a mini nap on the way, but after you woke up, you guys didn't shut up. From school to new albums, you talked about it all. You guys always were like this, (still were) even though at this point youâd only known each other a couple months. It scared you a little, how close you two had gotten in such a little period of time, mainly because you donât want him to drop you because of who you were before.
âWeâre here!â He pulled into a parking spot. You both climbed out of the van and met in front of it. âYou brought your wallet, right?â
âHanging with you? Of course not.â You deadpanned, before pulling out your wallet with a smile. âWhy would I go to a fair without my wallet?â
He just rolled his eyes, slung his arm around your neck and walked to the ticket booth. Once in the fair, you guys set a plan to leave around 2:00 so you can get back in time for school.
You run around together, ride to ride, concession stand every chance you can get, and then barfing into a trash can. âI will never sneak out with you again.â
âSure, ok,â Rodrick scoffed. âCome on, I want to ride the ferris wheel before going home!â
âSure,â you rolled your eyes as you wiped your mouth, âjust let me finish tossing my organs into this dumpster.â
âLet's go, smart ass.â
Surprisingly, there wasnât a long line for the wheel. Youâre on it in 5 minutes, and at the top in another 5.
âTold you it was worth it.â Rodrick teased as you looked out to the neon fair lights.
âYea, yea, whatever,â you mumbled, too busy looking out at the eye widening view.
Thereâs a moment of silence. âYâknow, Iâm glad we met each other.â
âEw, donât get all sentimental on me. Especially on a ferris wheel, that's just cringey.â You joke.
âIâm being serious!â He sighs. âLike I love the band, but I think me and you got closer in the span of a few months than me and them since middle school. Itâs crazy.â
âYea, sure, ok, dude,â you look back out to the lights. You couldnât look him in the eyes because you had this warm feeling in your gut that you couldnât place.
Rodrick doesnât allow you to, though, as he grabs your face in one hand to make you look at him. âWhat the hell are you doing?â
âI want you to say it,â he stares into your eyes, seeming to search for something.
âSay what, jackass?â You feel your face catch on fire in the dark of the night.
âThat Iâm your best friend.â He looks so serious, and his eyes never leave yours.
âYouâre my best friend,â you roll your eyes with a grin, âcan you let me go now?â
âWeâll work on it.â He pats the side of your face and then faces the lights outside the wheel.
When you're both off the ferris wheel, youâre headed back home. The car ride home was silent, you in your own head and Rodrick seemed tired. You offered for him to stay over and sleep until school starts, but he declines, knowing his parents will wake him up in the morning.
You pull up to your house but just sit there for a second. âIt was a bunch of fun, as always. Til we sneak out again.â
âSee ya,â he smiles and lightly punches your shoulder.
âSee ya, dude,â and you head to your house.
When you see him pull off, you lightly close your front door. As you turn around, your soul leaves your body.
âI donât even want to know,â your mom holds her hand up to silence you. âPhone, now.â
You sigh, but do it.
It seemed thatâs what happened with Rodrick, too, so for the rest of the school year you and Rodrick could only contact each other at school. He still snuck over, that wasn't going to stop.
You donât regret leaving with him that night, because you had never had someone willingly be that close to you.
â
Currently, youâre all huddled up in the hot attic that is his room, but it was the only place without younger kids so you donât complain much.
âDude, I thought this year was gonna be it!â Rodrick complains as he lays upside down on his bed.
âOh, itâs gonna be it, alright,â Ben rolls his eyes and throws a paper ball in Rodricks direction. âItâs going to be the year I finally strangle you if you mention Heather Hills one more time.â We all chuckle at how true it was.
Right now, he wouldnât shut the fuck up about Heather Hills. Even though you had come in the middle of junior year, it was quick knowledge that he had a crush on her since middle school. At first it was cute, but after some unforeseen circumstances, you actually hated hearing her name. It wasnât like you had a crush on him (It was), but the fact that she didnât give him the time of day, and even when she did it was just to make fun of him or to have him do something.
âI second that, itâs fucking annoying,â you push him off the bed, seeing as you were on it right next to him.
âOw, you dick!â he sits up and rubs his head.
âWeâre, like, four months from graduating, if she wanted you, she wouldâve said it.â
âYea but-â Ward cuts him off.
âBut nothing, bro, she donât want your ass.â
Itâs what youâve been telling him this whole time, but you didnât want to be too pressed about it because you didnât want him to think you like her. You didnât like her, you liked the one who liked her. You hadnât realized it until you saw Heather sweetening him up one time and it hurt to watchâ and not in a disgusted way.
You had no idea about your sexuality, you knew you liked boys even before you transitioned, but as you became more comfortable with yourself girls werenât so bad either. You had been on a few dates with mostly girls (there werenât many out guys in a small town, who knew?), but no one was Rodrick.
âI mean, I know, subconsciously,â he points to his head, âbut she has this way of being in your head, no matter how mean she is.â
âBlah blah blah, bruh we donât caaaarreee!â You roll your eyes and fall back on his bed. âSheâs probably going to, like, Harvard or some shit and gonna marry rich. She doesnât have time for loser guys like ourselves unless we can do something for her. Itâs been that way since middle school, and itâll be that way til the end of timeâ
âMajor harsh, dude,â Drew pipes up.
âWhatever,â You get up and grab your backpack. âIâm going home, see you bozos tomorrow.â
You know why it bothers you so much, but you didnât think you went that far. Hell, even Ward said something, but you were the one who was being âmajor harshâ? You roll your eyes as you stomp off to your house.
âMajor harsh, my ass,â you murmur to yourself.
â
Tomorrow comes faster than youâd like. It wasnât like you blew up on the guys, but you were pissed that you had been shut down. You kind of wanted to avoid them and go straight to class, but when you exit your house you see Rodricks van. The ride to school was pretty quiet except for the âgood morning,â you all exchanged amongst yourselves.
âYou were right,â Rodrick nudges you. When you give him a confused look, he goes on, âHeather is never gonna want me, and Iâm taking myself off the market for other babes.â
âOh, all those poor girls, saved,â you chuckle. Now you kind of feel bad, âbut seriously, my bad if I went too far with what I was saying. I donât have an excuse for what I said, but I am sorry.â
âNah, I needed that good kick in the ass so I could wake up. Thanks, bro.â He playfully punches your shoulder.
âNo problem, bro.â
As we pull up to school, you see Heather and her friends around their red convertible bug. You didnât know whose it was, it was passed around more than a blunt in your group. Every morning they were there, and every morning Rodrick went to talk to them, talk to her, like clockwork.
âSo are we skipping today, boys?â Rodrick suggests.
In a unison of âHell Yeaâs, you were the voice of reason. âFuck no.â
They all groan, as they usually do when youâre right. Weâre walking away from the van as you explain, âYâall donât have enough brain cells or credits to afford to skip. If yall want to blow this place, ya gotta graduate. You donât even have to have honors.â
âWhatever, nerd,â Rodrick shoves you with a chuckle. âYou can be a suck up and stay all day, but weâre outta here.â
âYou can suck up on my balls, jackass,â you laugh and shove him back.
âYouâd love that, wouldnât you?â he shoves back.
âYouâd love that!â but you donât push him, you look in front of you.
You expected to see the red car, but you saw the stairs. You had passed the car?
You look behind you, and you still see the group talking about someone cheating on someoneâs boyfriend, but you notice Heather Hills looking at you.
This wasnât the first time Rodrick had ignored Heather for you, but that was at lunch. He always talked to her in the morning. You donât know why, but you knew that this was her last straw.
When you had first moved here, you werenât on her radar until you had talked to him. She was just standing off to the side and you didnât realize it then, but he was just talking to her and stopped to talk to you. You could feel her glare, but when you looked at her she gave you a sugary sweet smile. That wasnât the last time you would see that fake smile, but after this morning you knew it would be.
â
âI donât know what you told him, but you need to untell him.â
The voice wasnât unfamiliar to you, but you werenât used to it being directed at you.
âHi, Heather, how are you on this beautiful day?â You smile at her, though it was probably closer to a grimace.
âCut the shit, you heard me.â She growls as you put your stuff in your locker.
âWhy does it have to be me saying anything to him? Maybe he actually grew some balls and a brain.â
âYouâre like a lost puppy around him, of course you said something.â
âWell, Heather,â you huff as you drop your bag and face her, âhe used to follow you around like a lost puppy and I got sick of it because you were using him. I donât know why it bothered me so much, but it did, so I told him that.â
âI know why,â she leans closer to your face with a whisper. âItâs because youâre a gay little bitch who hopes he looks in your direction but he wouldnât even spit near you. I see how you look at him, but just remember he looks at me like that.â
âOk,â you roll your eyes. âWhy do you care so much? You admitted several times that you donât like him.â
âHe needs to like me, not the other way around. It gives other guys the idea that they can be with me and I can get gifts out of it. So if you donât fix this, I can get so much dirt on you itâd make your head spin.â
âI think the bleach fumes are finally getting to your brain,â you scoff, trying not to seem nervous. You didnât think that she could get to your secret, but that bitch has power in high places. But you had come so far without being outed, so you didnât think itâd happen this close to your escape. âI donât know what to tell you. Iâm not gonna do that because youâre a bitch who doesnât deserve any attention.â
She slams your locker in your face, âYouâll regret that.â And as she walks away you roll your eyes and mumble a âbitchâ.
She doesnât even want him, but I canât have him? Whatever, bitch.
â
You decided to keep your little interaction from Rodrick and the gang because you knew itâd open up a) what she could find on you and b) did Heather actually like Rodrick and sheâs lying? You just let them lead the conversation as you try to rationalize with yourself.
How would she find out your trans? Youâve been stealth for a year and your school medical records are locked up tight. She canât out anything but you being gay and even that was a little chest tightening. At least youâll still be a man, even if it was a gay one. Being outed as trans could shatter peopleâs perception of you and youâll be that weird âgirlâ again.
âWhat are you thinking so hard about?â Rodrick asks you and you realize youâre the only two in the van now.
âNothing, just exhausted. I need to be asleep right now,â you pretend to rub your eyes.
âWhatever you say, dude,â he sighs, but puts his hand on your shoulder and looks you in the eyes. âIâm here whenever you wanna talk, you seem to have a lot on your mind.â
It makes you freeze. Itâs not like he isnât always like this, heâs your best friend, but it doesnât help after your conversation with Heather. He does this with every guy in the group, he may put on a front of being a dick to his brother, Greg, but he really cares for his friends. You have to convince yourself that this was just that, nothing more.
âEyes on the road, weirdo,â you shrug his arm off with a nervous laugh. âI told you I was fine, Iâm just tired.â
âOk, dude,â he rolls his eyes.
Before you know it, he drops the rest of the guys off at their houses. Youâre usually the last one to get dropped off since more often than not youâre the first one to be picked up. But when Rodrick passes your house, you have more than a few questions.
âWhere the hell are you taking me?â You sigh.
âObviously you wonât tell me whatâs actually wrong, so weâre going to hang out til that frown turns upside down!â He smiles as he passes his house, too.
âHow did I become friends with such a cornball? Arenât you supposed to be the resident bad boy, go back to that.â
âYou know you love me,â he smirks.
More than you know, thatâs the reason Iâm in this mess! You almost say, but stick with, âSure, whatever you say.â
You know exactly what heâs going to do, you guys do it every time one of yâall are going through it. Head to the gas station to get slushies and snacks, then go out to your favorite clearing in the woods. He even does it with Greg sometimes, even though he likes to act like he hates his younger brothers.
âIsnât the point of a slushy to mix all of the flavors together?â Rodrick rolls his eyes.
âWe have this conversation every time we come here, I get two flavors that compliment each other! All of those flavors confuse your mouth and you lose taste buds.â
âYou lie just like my mother, which means you lie like shit.â And for that you slap his shoulder. âOW!â
âDonât talk about Susan like that!â You say, jokingly offended. You go to hit him again, but he grabs your hand.
âYouâre a fucking nut case.â
âOMG!â You hear an all too familiar voice excitedly yelp. âI thought I heard your voice!â
âOh, hey Heather.â Rodick turns to talk to her, forgetting to let go of your hand. âWhat are you doing in here?â
âMy friends wanted to stop in here to get some junk.â She waves her hand behind her and rolls her eyes. âI obviously donât eat stuff like that, I mean, look at me.â Rodrick doesnât even glance down when she motions at herself.
âGood for you, me and (Y/N) are actually in here for some snacks, too.â
She finally looks at you, and then at you and Rodricks combined hands. You squirm under her stare and take your hand out of Rodricks. He looks at you in seeming confusion, but doesnât say anything.
âI didnât see you there, hey (Y/N)!â She has a smile on her face, but you can see in her eyes the amount of hatred she has for you.
âHey, HeatherâŚâ You almost whisper, and then turn to seem busy with your slushy.
âWell, we should get out of here, bye Heather.â
âOh, yeah, I think my friends went back to the car, so I should head out, too.â She turns to leave, but looks back over her shoulder and waves seductively. âBye, Rodrick!â
When you hear the front door bell ring, you finally release the breath you had been holding in. âHoly shit,â you whisper to yourself.
âWhat was that?â Rodrick turns to you with a smile and points behind him. âSheâs never willingly came up to me unless she needs something. And she just wantedâŚconversation?â
âYour guess is as good as mine,â You paint on a smirk even though your heart is racing. She had seen you with Rodrick, holding hands (completely his fault!), and he couldnât be any less interested in her! You just know your fate is sealed.
âWell, letâs get this shit paid for and go.â He grabs up your food and you grab the slushies.
With everything paid for, you guys hop back into the van and head into the trail a few blocks down. It wasnât anything official, but you hadnât gotten in trouble for being out here, so yall just kept going.
You park the van and head into the back, opening the doors for some fresh air.
âSo are you ready to tell me whatâs up?â Rodrick asks after a few sips of his slushy abomination.
âI told you that Iâm just exhausted.â You keep up your front.
âAnd I told you that you lie like my mom,â he sighs. âSo you might as well just spill it.â
âItâs just something that me and my family have to deal with, you donât have to worry about it!â You know if you bring your family into it, heâll stop pushing it because he knows your parents donât play.
âOk, ok, Iâll let it go.â He raises his hand in defense.
You donât respond, and you guys are submerged into silence once again. You exchange looks when you donât think the other is looking, but besides that you take in the forest around you.
Heather could never experience these moments with Rodrick and understand how precious it is. Rodrick has always been the weird âbad boyâ (people literally only say this because of his clothes and that makes you roll your eyes) who some of the girls wanted but if it got out they did like him, theyâd be made fun of. You see how some of the girls look at him when he isnât looking, and it hurts your heart. You know they have more of a chance than you ever would.
But with you, he was never like this. He was the goofy, caring friend whoâd drop everything if you said the word. Heather only sees him as an object that gives her affection, but you see him as he truly is; a guy who loves and just wants it back. He just wants to be seen.
âYâknow youâre my best friend, right?â You blurt before you can think about it.
âOnly took you a year to be genuine about it,â he nudges your shoulder.
âWhat?â
âThe ferris wheel.â He states like youâre just supposed to know. And you do.
âYou still remember that?â You gape.
âAnyway, yes I am your best friend, just like how youâre mine.â He grins at you, and then he drops it, âyouâre not planning anything are you?â
âOh my god, a guy canât express his appreciation for his best friend?â You throw your hands up.
âIâm watching you,â he squints his eyes and points at you.
You get a text from your mom wondering where you are, and thatâs the end of your little outing with Rodrick.
When he drops you home, Heather is the furthest thing from your mind, even though you know holding Rodricks hand (even though it wasnât even purposely!) would be a slight against you.
â
Over the next two weeks, Heather's empty threat went to the back burner of your mind. If she wanted to out you, it wouldâve happened by now. Iâm safe, you sighed in relief.
Rodrick continued not to go up to her in the morning, but if she talked to him he definitely talked back. It seemed to calm her attitude toward you now, but it still was a hot seat around her. Like now, sheâs passing around flyers for her party this weekend and intentionally passed by you.
âRodrick, youâre definitely coming to my party this weekend, right?â She bats her eyelashes. âI need your band Soiled Diper to play!â
âItâs LĂśded Diper,â you correct and she glares at you, âand when have you ever wanted us to play anywhere near you?â
âUs?â She scoffs at you. âI just want the main band, not some wannabe.â
âWoah,â Rodrick stops her. â(Y/N) is an actual part of the band, so no him, no band.â
âHim? If thatâs what you wanna say, sure.â And to the untrained ear it could just be her upset that he isnât going along to exclude you, but you know what she means. As you perk up and look in her eyes, sheâs already looking at you with a knowing smirk.
She knows. FUCK how does she know?
âIâm fine with not going, Rod,â you try to sway him. This cannot be fucking happening.
âNo, itâs either all of us or none of us.â
Of course now he wants to be a fucking hero right now. He doesnât get that this is social suicide FOR ME! Social homicide? Not important right now.
âOk,â she has that sugary sweet fake smile. âDonât come, then. Remember what I said.â
That last part was for you, you know it, and your blood runs cold. Fuck.
The rest of the day youâre on the edge of your seat, thinking what she might do. How the fuck did she even find out? You werenât on social media much pre-transition, so barely any photos of you before exist. And like you said, your medical records were locked up tight.
Whatever, you try to convince yourself. She wonât do anything! She wouldâve already.
You make it home with no one running around talking about your biggest secret, so your anxiety has allowed you to breathe again.
You decide to finally talk to your mom about this because who else will understand?
âYouâre right to be afraid, but youâre also right about her doing it when she finally found something on you.â Your mom rubs your hair as you lay in her lap.
âItâs like I canât get into her mind and I seriously want to. Like what is she planning?â Your thoughts literally wonât shut up. You havenât had to worry about stuff like this for close to 2 years, and now its like your whole world is about to collapse
âFor her sake, I hope nothing because Iâm not above beating a little girl's ass!â And you know sheâs being for real. Your mom doesnât play around.
âMom,â you roll your eyes.
âSo, she thinks you like RodrickâŚWhatâs up with that?â
âYou know the answer if youâre asking,â you sigh.
âDo you want any advice on that? I say you should go for it.â Your mom shrugs.
âAbsolutely not, because if this does come out I donât want him weirded out by me being trans and gay.â You donât even know if you are gay gay, but you know itâd make you that if you ask him out.
âI think youâre safe, but if something does blow, Iâm in your corner.â She holds up her fist playfully to show it.
âThank you, Mom.â You finally felt at peace with the whole thing. You trust your mom and feel like it will all blow over.
If only you knew.
The next morning, you walk with a pep in your step. You decide to walk to school, texting Rodrick you didnât need a ride. It took a little longer to walk than drive, so you knew theyâd beat you there.
When you finally showed up, people were staring at you, but it didnât bother you much. People looked at you and the gang weirdly all the time, it just happened. It was when you finally made your way inside that all hell broke loose.
Random whispers were rampant through the hall, but when you walked by it would stop. Whatever, they were probably just talking about what you were wearing like always. You shrugged and went to find the guys.
You were right in front of them in the cafeteria and about to speak when that sugary voice stopped you, âHey, [Redacted]!â It exclaimed.
You couldâve thrown up right then and there. You whip around to face Heather, âWhat the hell did you just call me?â
âShould I tell her or are you guys going to be good friends?â
âGuys, what is she talking about?â You turn to them and the look on their faces say it all.
They Know. Everyone knows.
Ben turns his phone around and you have to will yourself to not spill your breakfast out onto the concrete. Itâs a screenshot from one of your parents' private Facebooks from two or three years ago with a title that stated your deadname.
The âgirlâ in the picture was going to homecoming, and it was obvious that it was you. Your face was softer, caked with makeup, and your hair was longer. The caption had your name and said that you were indeed going to homecoming.
âThis picture was private, how the fuck?â You were whispering to yourself. Youâre frozen in place, you canât look anywhere but Benâs phone.
âHow could you hide this from your friends?â Heather fake gasps. âPretending to be a boy? Going into the boys bathroom and locker room? What a freak!â and her whole group laughs. When you didnât respond, she kept going, âLike, can you guys believe it? Sheâs pretending to be a boy to get close to you, and I even heard she had a little crush on one of you!â
That made you bark out a sob. Holy shit holy shit holy shit holy shit holy-
âItâs crazy! Right, Rodrick?â and that snaps you out of it.
You glance at him, and he looks angry. Probably at you for lying to him. You darted away, looking for an exit because all you can think about is going home. You hear your name called after you, but you donât care.
â
âWhat the hell are you doing home? Classes literally just started.â Your mom asks as sheâs cuddled up with your dad. You donât answer her, and just run up to your room, sobbing.
âWoah, woah woah, hey!â They get up to go after you.
When you get to your room, you donât close your door knowing theyâre after you. You shut your phone down and just throw yourself onto your bed, trying to stop your tears.
âSon, whatâs wrong? What happened at school?â My dad knocks on the open door.
âHeather Hills,â you say through your pillow. Even if your dad didnât get it, your mom did.
âShe didnâtâŚâ
âShe did though, Mom!â You cry out, turning to face them. âShe outed me to the whole school! She somehow found one of your Facebooks, got into it and found an old picture of me going to homecoming, and she shared it with the whole school!â
âAre you serious?â Your dad balls up his fist.
âNot only that, but she said that I was pretending to be a guy! Said I was doing it to get close to Rodrick, basically told him I liked him, and made me seem like this big ass weirdo!â
âWe need to do something about this,â your mom says, and she sounds pissed. âThis has to be some sort of harassment!â
âYour mother is right, we need to contact the school-â
âNO, please,â you start. âWhatâs done is done, I donât want this bigger than it is!â
â(Y/N)!-â
âMom, please listen to me!â Youâre exasperated at this point. âHeather has the whole school behind her. Her parents are RICH, so if we try to do anything, itâll just make everything worse!â
âI donât give a fuck about her parents! She hurt my baby and she needs to be held accountable!â
âI donât want to be in the middle of any more drama!â You groan. âI just want to figure this out quietly and on my own. I donât want to talk to anyone about it and I just want to be left alone!â
âOk, ok,â your dad sighs and puts a hand on your head. âIf thatâs what you want, we wonât push it,â he turns to your mom, âwonât we?â
âYea, I guess,â she rolls her eyes, but gives a weak smile. âBut at any point you need any help or she does anything else, weâre in your corner.â
âThank you for understanding.â
âGet some rest, son,â your dad pats your shoulder. âYou look like you need it.â
âIâll try.â
But you knew you werenât going to be able to sleep. You avoid your phone because you didnât want to be contacted by anyone, but especially Rodrick. You didnât want to know his disgust with you, didnât want to know how much he thought that Heather was right.
Without the distraction of your phone, your room and the house was too quiet. You could hear your parents downstairs, trying not to be angry about your situation and watching television. Your mind keeps replaying you looking at Benâs phone, ears ringing in anger and worry. Youâre so horrified, afraid youâve lost all of your friends. You were supposed to graduate without anyone finding out. What was the point of a fresh start if you were just gonna have to deal with all that you wanted to avoid at your old home?
You hear someone knock on your front door, and even being that far away from it you heard Rodricks voice. This time you canât stop your stomach from lurching and you run to the bathroom.
As you flush the toilet, you hear the door close and footsteps up the stairs. That makes you pray on the bathroom floor to anything that could hear you to not make you talk to him yet.
âHey, baby, you alright?â Your momâs voice fills you with relief and seems to calm your stomach.
âNo,â you say truthfully. You didnât feel like lying right now, âI feel like everything is over for me.â
âYou heard him, didnât you?â
âNot what he said, but I heard his voice,â you admit.
âThen I think you should answer your phone.â And with that, she leads you back to your room, kisses your forehead, and goes back downstairs.
â
You donât turn your phone back on until the next day. You still felt sick, and no matter how much you tried to eat you just couldnât. You stayed home from school and your parents didnât argue, but they still had to go out for work. Not a full trip, but they had to go to the next town over.
You had less messages than you thought you would, but itâs still crazy. Drew, Ward, Chris, Ben, and even Bill messaged you, but you didnât care about all of them because one name caught your eye. Rodrick.
It was four messages; are you home??, answer me!, iâm coming over. were the first three, but the last message was a video.
It starts staring at the floor, and then itâs pointed to a group of people. You can make out you, the gang, and Heather behind you. You take off running, but the recording doesnât stop there.
âWhat the fuck is wrong with you?â Rodrick stands up and gets in Heather's face.
âWhat?â she laughs in disbelief.
âYou heard what I said!â
âAre you seriously defending her over me? I thought you liked me?!â You can hear the fakeness in her voice.
âThat was before you decided to spread lies about my friend! He has done nothing to you!â the emphasis on the âheâ makes your eyes widen. âYouâre gonna stop talking shit about my best friend to my face! Youâre such a fake bitch! I donât know how I ever liked youâŚâ
âDonât tell me youâre seriously picking her over me? You must be more homo than her to like that wannabe boy.â
âAre you fucking serious?â The rest of the guys pipe up and start to surround Heather.
âHe is a guy, and if you think anything other than it, you must be stupider than I thought,â Ben steps up.
âAnd so what if I like him? Just know I donât like you, not anymore.â Rodrick is the angriest youâve ever seen him, itâs kind of hot scary.
âWhatever, youâre all just losers. Lets go,â she turns and walks off with her crew.
Thatâs where the video ends.
You couldnât stop rewatching it in amazement. He had stood up to Heather Hills for you without hesitation. Had said he liked you to Heather Hills. To basically the entire school, if this video has already gone around.
You debate whether or not you wanted to talk to him, but your need for your best friend wins over your need to hide. You slip on your shoes and head out.
You live a little over 5 minutes away from Rodrick even though he drives you guys everywhere. You know you couldâve told him to come over to your house, but itâs nice to finally get some fresh air. Plus, his mom was always nice to see when you went over his house.
When you get there, you see his van parked in the driveway near the garage. You have to hype yourself up to knock on the front door, but once you do itâs like a wave of nausea comes crashing over you.
I canât do this, oh my god. What have I-
Before you can finish your thoughts, the door opens. You half expect it to be Rodrick, but itâs just Greg.
âHey, kid.â You do a little wave as if you havenât met him before. Whenever you come over, you tend to see Greg and Rowley, too. Most of the time theyâre just in the living room, but they sometimes come up to the attic just to get chewed out by Rodrick, especially when itâs just you two up there.
âHey, (Y/N),â he smiles, âwhereâve you been?â
âYknow.â You wring your hands. âAround.â
You can barely get words out. Does Greg know? Did Rodrick tell his family about what his best friend is?
âRodrick should be upstairs in his room.â Greg moves out of the way so you can step into the house. âHeâs been moping up there since yesterday, I donât even think heâs left it today.â
âHe didnât go to school?â Itâs not surprising, heâs always skipping, but you know itâs because of what went down yesterday.
âNope,â Greg shakes his head. âLook, I donât know what happened between you guys, because he only acts like this when he canât see you, but I think you guys will work it out. Itâs like me and Rowley, just less romantical.â
âW-what-â you sputter out. âI donât-â
âSure, whatever you want to tell yourself.â Greg cuts you off with an eye roll. âLike I said, heâs upstairs.â
âThanks, kid.â Your face is on fire.
And with that, you mount the stairs to the attic. Is your crush on Rodrick really that obvious that even his family can see it? And with the way Greg was talking it seems to be reciprocated. You heard it come out of Rodrickâs own mouth, but what if he just said that so Heather could leave you alone?
Youâre in front of his door before you can finish your thoughts. You knock, ready to get this over with.
âMom, I told you Iâll be ok, just leave me alone!â You hear him call out.
âNot your mom, last time I checked.â You say, a soft smile grows on your face from hearing his voice.
You hear him leap up off of his bed and trip over something, but it doesnât seem to phase him as he runs to open the door.
â(Y/N),â he breathes out.
âHey,â you can barely look him in the face. âCan I come in?â
âYea, yea, come in!â He pulls you through the door.
Once in his room, itâs like youâve never set foot in it. You donât know what to do, where to sit. It all feels new to you for some reason.
âDude, just sit down somewhere.â Rodrick laughs at your newfound confusion.
You decide to sit on his bed, which you do every time you come over. You and Rodrick always sit on opposite ends of the bed so you can look at each other, which this time is no different.
You just sit there, staring at each other. You decide to break the ice. âItâs true, all of it. I donât know how Heather got that picture, but I was a girl for most of my life up until now. Please, donât hate me.â
âIâm not going to lie, it made me mad that I had to find out through Heather Hills,â he sighs, âbut then again itâs none of my business. You were doing it to protect yourself, so I get it and I donât have a right to be mad. I could never hate you over something like that though.â
You just sit there with your mouth open. You knew subconsciously that he couldnât have hated you, but you had grown up hearing all the hatred people had for people like you. You had no choice to be on the defense when coming over here, no matter what you heard.
âI just-â You start. âI just, I know youâre my best friend, and I shouldâve trusted you with this, but I couldnât. Iâve never had anyone but my parents know. Their families donât even know, thatâs the whole reason we moved here.â
âWould you have ever told me?â He asks, kind of quiet.
âMaybe.â You shrug honestly. âI was too worried about trying to survive high school without a slip up to think that far ahead.â
âOh,â is all he answers.
Itâs another drowning silence. Youâve never had an awkward silence in your entire friendship, this is freaking you out.
âDid you watch the video I sent you?â Rodrick speaks up.
âYea, it was the first thing I saw when I turned my phone back on.â Another beat of silence. âIt was the only reason I came over here to talk to you.â
âDid you watch the whole thing?â
âOnly a hundred times,â you smile evilly. âI love watching that barbie wannabe get put in her place.â
âYea, that was great to do,â his voice lowers, âbut thatâs not what I was talking about.â
âI know.â You whisper and look him in the eyes.
You just sit there staring at each other, and then Rodrick looks down at your lips. It was so quick you couldâve missed it if you blinked, but you saw it. Just go for it.
âAre you going to kiss me, or just think about it?â You try to sound confident, but it ends up a quiet squeak.
His eyes widen, but he begins to inch over to you until youâre pressed up against each other. âIs this okay?â His whisper tickles your lips.
You just nod, eyes never leaving his. You donât know who leans in first, but your lips are together in a flash. Your grip on his shirt is tight, as if when you let go itâll all disappear. Your mouths almost move in unison, like youâre trying to devour the other. You can barely breath, feeling like this isnât real. You dreamed about this moment for so long and now that itâs here itâs like youâre ascending.
You are the one who pulls away first, needing to breathe. Rodrick doesnât seem like he wants to stop, kissing down your jaw to your neck. While you're breathing softly, you hear a knock at his door. That doesnât stop Rodrick though.
âRodrick,â you breath out as a warning.
âHm,â he hums indifferently. Before you both know it, his door opens.
âRodrick, you need to leave this- OH MY GOD!â His mother screams out.
âMOM!â Rodrick jumps away from you in fear and shock.
Youâre all just stuck looking at both of them staring at each other before you break the silence.
âHey, Ms. SusanâŚâ
After that you are put through a lecture with his mom and dad. You guys canât be upstairs alone without Greg being a buffer, door open at all times even with the other guys there. They, of course, texted your parents about what they found so that's gonna be fun to go home to. But you felt like none of that mattered because you got what you wanted. You didnât lose your friends, and you even gained a boyfriend.
He offers to drive you home, which you take because you want to be close to him for a little longer. So you wave goodbye to his parents and get into the van.
You hold hands on the way to your house.
â
âWeâre glad you decided to come back to school,â Rodrick squeezes your hand. âItâs been so boring.â
âFirst of all, I was gone one day,â you roll your eyes in fake annoyance. âAnd second of all, you literally didnât even go yesterday!â
âBut itâs always boring whenever I donât get to see you, baby.â He wiggles his shoulders against yours.
All the guys groan in fake disgust. âYall are so corny, break up already.â Ben gags.
âI didnât even say anything!â You throw your hands up, taking one of Rodricks hands with you.
âCringe by association.â And you roll your eyes in true annoyance.
âAre you sure youâre ready to go back?â Rodrick interrupts. âWe could just go back to your house and hang out for the day.â
âIâm sure youâd love that,â you shove his arm, âbut if I keep skipping, itâll be like she won. Plus Iâm not losing my straight A streak because of that bimbo.â
âFine,â he huffs. âI canât wait for the last day, school is so boring.â
âI thought without me it was boring?â You raise an eyebrow.
âYou know what I mean.â He kisses your cheek.
âYuck,â one of the guys laughs out behind your back.
âShut the fuck up so we can get this day over with.â You flip them off.
Youâre, of course, joking because you know you couldnât have gone through this without them. After your talk with Rodrick, you all had a group hangout and talked through all of this. They let you know the whole time that they were 100% on your side. They were your boys and you were theirs.
Maybe the rest of the year won't be hell. You got the guy, smited the girl, and even if you were outed, you had all the friends you needed with you already. You were going to be fine.

Your ring rested heavy on your finger. It wasn't anything fancy, not that you needed it to be, it was just a new feeling. While you hadn't had any jewelry allowed on Kamino- now that you had an engagement ring, you'd never go back.
"Omega wants you to finish putting her to bed, Hunter." You called to Him, entering the cockpit. His face lit up, you didn't know the real reason quite yet.
He nodded and headed back to her 'room' to put her to bed. You smiled, continuing to turn to Crosshair and Wrecker.
Though you couldn't hear them, the two people you loved most began their 'good-nights.'
"Holding up okay, kid?" He asked Omega, pulling her blanket up.
She gave a quick nod, "I... I missed you." She leaned closer, Hunter pushed back a piece of her hair.
"I think I missed you more..." She smiled, closing her eyes for a moment.
With a deep breath, Hunter started. "I know it's late, but I have to ask you something."
She found a new type of energy at his words, slightly sitting up. Much to Hunters dismay.
"What?" She was giddy, knowing it was good news from Hunters body language.
"How would you feel if I asked," Your name felt unreal on his lips, he was still getting used to having you back at his side, "to marry me?"
Her eyes grew wide, almost as big as her grin. She shuffled quickly, the blanket pooling at her waist. "Oh my gosh, yes! Please ask her!"
"Shhh, shh. It's still time for you to go to bed." He regretted asking so late, but he was eager to pop the question.
"How am I supposed to sleep after you've told me you're going to propose!"
Hunter gently guided her back into bed, pulling the blanket back up. "I know, I know. Can you keep the secret until tomorrow?"
She gave a vigorous nod, the covers resting at her chin.
He leaned down, pressing the ghost of a kiss on her forehead. Much like a father would. "I'm going to ask her tonight, but you need to try and get some rest. Promise you'll try?"
With a smile, she agreed. Even with the news, she was still exhausted.
You frequently thought back to the day Hunter got down on one knee in the middle of the ship for you. Your heart warmed every time, fidgeting with your ring.
"It's so pretty..." Omega commented. Just two weeks later you all found yourselves on Pabu. Rested and resupplied.
You were both crammed into her closed off space. You ignored the gunman seat, choosing to lay with her on the floor.
She had a grasp on your hand, analyzing the band. The twinkle in her eye matched the gem. "Thank you, Hunter has pretty good taste, don't ya think?"
She giggled, letting you have your hand back. You gave another glance at the ring you'd been staring at for days.
She rolled over, facing the ceiling, arms sprawled out. With a light sigh she began, "When will you have your wedding?"
You leaned back as well, one of your arms overlapping hers. "I...I guess I haven't thought about it too much. I'm content just finding an officiant tomorrow." All you needed was Hunter, who cares if you had a fancy wedding?
Apparently Omega, as she jumped up, "What! No, we have to have a ceremony by the shore! It'd be perfect!"
You laughed at her reaction. "This is no laughing matter!" She pointed a finger in your direction, "This is serious!"
"Omega, I have Hunter. A huge wedding will not change my love for him." She humphed and settled back down.
"What's the point of marriage if you don't have a wedding!" To be frank, Omega had never been to a wedding. Only reading about them in the books Nala Se allowed her, or hearing about them through her travels.
"I think marriage shows our devotion to each other. That we'll never part." You craned your head to look at her, she rolled her eyes at your confession. This caused you to let out another smirk.
Now, she was really getting annoyed. Giving your lips a swipe with your tongue, "Ya know, maybe having a small ceremony wouldn't be bad. But, I would need a maid of honor. Know anyone?"
Her smile reappeared fast, "Are you asking me to be your maid of honor!"
"I couldn't think of anyone better..." She shuffled to throw herself on you, giving you a big hug.
You squeezed her tight, just before a loud gasp came from her, "What?"
"The dress!" She yelled, "What will you wear! We have to see if Shep knows someone who can make you one!"
Her energy was contagious, you were starting to get excited too. "I want a ballgown dress...Oh and I could have off the shoulders lace, maybe even a train, but not too long. I'd hate to trip on it." Okay, maybe you had put a little thought into a wedding.
She was practically bouncing on her heels, now on her knees hovering over you. You still laid on your back, day dreaming about dresses.
"What color do you want your dress Omega?"
"I get to pick?" She questioned.
"Of course you can, sweetie." You could see the gears turning in her head. She was going to think on what style she wanted for a while.
You sat up, leaning against her side. "How would Batcher fashion flowers? Think she could learn to drop them? Cause I would certainly need a flower girl for the wedding."
"Yes, of course! I'll start training her!" She was excited to teach Batcher a new trick. You knew they could do it, but Omega didn't want to take any risks.
She raced out, completely missing Hunter. Who was leaning against the steps of the gunman room.
You let a breath leave you, slumping against the wall.
"Is she wearing you out already?" You jumped at the voice, immediately being comforted by the recognition of who it was.
"Hunter, when did you walk in?" You weren't bothered by it, just surprised.
He had a smug look. "I was just checking the fuel, then I heard you and Omega talking about weddings?"
You felt flushed, like you were caught doing something you shouldn't.
"You don't have to be embarrassed, I think you'd look beautiful in any dress." He stepped forward, about eye level with you. He reached a hand up, taking yours in his.
"You're such a charmer." You smiled, your head leaning back to hit the wall.
Hunter stepped up, joining you on the floor of the room.
You scooted closer to him, taking his head in your lap when he layed down.
"What kind of wedding do you want?" You asked, brushing your hands through his dark hair.
He closed his eyes, basking in your touch. "I just want you to be happy. I don't care what we do." You figured that's what he would say. You lowered your head and pressed a kiss on his forehead.
"Omega's ideas didn't sound too bad... A ceremony on the shore." He commented.
You continued to pet his hair, "Yeah, that does sound sweet. Who would we invite? I mean, I don't know too many of the natives yet." It was true you tended to keep to yourself on the island.
With his eyes still closed he responded, "If you just want it to be us five, I wouldn't mind."
"Well we'd have to send Echo a message, oh and of course Shep, Deke, Mox, Stak, can't forget Phee, also-" You ran out of fingers to count on. Opting to rest them back in Hunters hair.
He had a grin on his face, "We don't need to figure out the guest list quite yet. We can get married any day you want.." He was ready to bend at your will.
"Can..." You sucked on your teeth, changing your mind about asking.
"Hmm?" He pressed on.
"You don't have to... but," Why was this so hard to ask! "Can I wear your bandana?"
He opened his eyes, baring into yours. You struggled to read his expression.
"It's okay, it was dum-" You felt stupid for asking.
"If it would make you happy, I would be glad to let you." He reached a hand up, rubbing your side to soothe you.
"Really?"
"Yeah." He moved his hand to untie the cloth. "Here, try it on."
You snickered, gently holding the fabric. "What if I wore it on my arm?"
You tried to show him, but found it difficult to tie on your upper right arm.
He noticed and sat up, taking it into his hands. He took his time, smoothing it over your skin and tying it expertly. He only pulled away after giving you a kiss.
"I like it." You expressed.
"I love it." He stared, but not at the bandana- at you.
"I love you too..."
A/N- Thank you so much for reading! I hope it's as good as part one!!

Jealousy, jealousy
pairing: skz ot8 x reader (individual)
Hyung line --- maknae line
Warnings: mostly fluff
summary: How will the Stray Kids members show their jealousy?
Jisung
I think he would be someone that doesn't show his jealousy on the outside. He would turn his jealousy inwards on himself instead of blaming you or the other person and his insecurities would be stronger.
You and Ji had a date night at home after a exhausting week. You already cooked dinner together. But Jisung noticed that from time to time, you chatted with someone on your phone.
The smile was prominent on your face whenever you read a text. It made home insecure. With whom do you write? And why do your eyes sparkle like that.
It wasn't that you didn't give him attention at all. You still smiled, laughed and made jokes with him.
But still, something on your phone kept distracting you.
was he not good enough? No, that wasn't right, you loved him.
After eating dinner, you two quickly put your dirty dishes into the dishwasher and jumped on the couch.
Jisung sunk into the comfortable cushions and immediately, you jumped on top of him. You cuddled further into his warm skin and gave him a peck on the cheek.
Just like him, you were a physical touch person. That's why whenever you two are together, you needed skin contact, even if it's just your fingers touching.
Your phone vibrated and you got distracted from the film. You smiled.
"Who's that?" He asked cautiously.
"Just my brother. He asked if we both want to go to a dinner at mom's house next Friday"
You explained while you played with one of his hair strands.
Relieved, he let the air out he didn't knew he was holding.
Felix
I think that Felix would get jealous. He didn't want to show it but especially when other men looked at you like a sweet little prey, he couldn't control it. But he tried to hide it.
On weekends, you two loved to go window shopping and run errands together. It wasn't the shopping that you two liked so much.
It was just the time you could spend together and maybe the fact that Lix could pamper you. Often, he would drag you into a cafĂŠ and buy your favourite cake for you.
It was rather unusual for you two to run into someone you knew.
But this time, a man with an attractive smile headed straight for you. He gave you a toothy smile and you immediately recognised him.
It was a friend from college that you didn't see since you graduated. To Felix, he was a total stranger and when you released your hand from his to hug the man, he was confused.
You exchanged some words with him and Felix just stared a hole into him. The man kept initiating physical touch. To often for Felix liking, he touched your arm and that was definitely enough.
He grabbed your hand and dragged you with him. On his way, he pushed his shoulder against the one from the man.
"Lix, where do you go?"
"Love, we won't get the popular ice cream anymore when we stay here." He said and brought you to the ice-cream shop that you both wanted to try for a while.
Seungmin
Seungmin would be possessive. Well, I see him like that. He is just that sweet little dog that wanted you all to himself.
Since you got together with him, you made clear that you liked to spend time with your friends. In your friend group, there are mostly girls but there are some boys too.
And Seungmin was completely fine with that. Well, as long as they don't try to steal you away.
You had planned to go to a bar with them and because of Seungmin's busy schedule, he just agreed to you going alone. Though, he'll pick you up afterwards so that he could make sure that you were safe.
Your whole group was there and it was great. Due to the busy work, you couldn't see eachother so often so that you catched up on everything that happend.
While you loved dancing, you hated the taste of alcohol, so, you and one of your male friends were practically the parents of the group.
Afterwards, you waited outside. Some of your friends were already on the way home so that only you and the man were left. You appreciated that he wouldn't let you alone in front of a bar while you waited for Seungmin to arrive.
The cold night air got you shivering and your friend placed his jacket over your shoulders to keep you warm.
Not long after, your boyfriend's car pulled up and you gave it back, hugged him and got in the car.
"Hey Baby" you greeted him with a kiss.
Seungmin saw the lingering gaze of the male. He knew about the romantic feelings for you.
The drive was rather quiet. It wasn't an uncomfortable silence. After partying, you liked to have some quietness and Seungmin didn't mind.
In fact, he could think about the other man that was literally glued to you.
After arriving home in your shared apartment, you slipped out of your heels. You felt your boyfriend's hands circling you from behind. Instantly, you melted in his touch.
"What's up, Minnie?" You asked as you caressed his hands.
"Youâre so close with them.â He whined and placed his head on your naked shoulder that was exposed in your dress.
âWhat if they take you away from me?â he mumbled and nibbled on your skin. He started teasing the area, softly kissing it from time to time to sooth it.
Jeongin
I don't know why, but I think that this sweet man wouldn't have so much experience with relationships. So, I think he would be rather insecure when it come to jealousy.
But on the other hand, I think that he would get mad pretty easily.
You two were just together for four months now. While you two weren't really inexperienced, you still were a little bit shy around each other. Especially in public. Due to his life as an idol, you would often just spend time at his our your apartment.
After two months of dating, he first introduced you to his group. Immediately, you knew that they were pretty protective about their maknae and tested you. They were all kind to you but after they saw that you were ok, they all adored you.
Especially Chan and Felix. You too came from Australia and were so happy to finally have someone to talk to in your native language.
When you visited, Jeongin literally had to fight over you. Constantly, his hyungs would capture you.
He was definitely jealous and gave a death stare to everyone that came near you.
You noticed it and just laughed. You found it extremely cute to see your man this mad at his friends.
And they thought so too. Well, they loved to tease him.
Felix told you a story in English and Jeongin had difficulties with understanding you two. You two spoke in an incredible speed and there were words he never heard of.
His hands slowly grabbed yours and he just stared at his friend. Of course he had noticed it too and tried everything to not laugh out loud. The baby of the group was just so sweet when he was jealous.

You're taking requests?
Could I request your opinions on how Jing Yuan, Blade and Dan Heng confess to their crush please? Modern School AU if you don't mind :D
A/N: Yes yes, I am taking requests, and I don't mind at all doing a Modern School AU! Thank you for the request (and being my first request lol) and I hope you like this :)) I also wrote how I believe they would've met you and/or fell in love <3
Jing Yuan is most certainly one of the more popular boys at school. With his charming smile and pretty face. It's no wonder he got a good handful or more admirers. Let's be honest, you probably are also one of the admirers right? (Or not, who knows)
I can picture Jing Yuan and yourself being childhood friends. His feelings developed when you two were young, and what he thought would disappear in fact grew the more the two of you hung out. Oh but he is absolutely NOT complaining at all. It's you, if he wanted to be in love with anyone it'll be you.
Perhaps during a quiet and peaceful moment, where he would lay his head on your lap after an especially tiring day at school, he'd close his eyes to rest, feeling your fingers play with his hair. He'd mumble out a soft "I love you" as he drifted off to sleep.
He's not even embarrassed when you bring it up to him once he awakes. Just confirms what he said and even specifies that he 'like likes' you.
Blade seems like that one quiet kid in class, but instead of being bullied, people are scared of him. One glance from him and people may shy away. It's tiring to him when he just wants to ask for a pencil or something but he doesn't care really. He has his own small friend group anyways. However when you are partnered up with him and don't shy away from his glance and treat him as a regular person. He can't help but feel a bit surprised.
He couldn't even help falling in love with you due to how kind you were and in general how you treated him normally among other factors. Assuming the two of you became close enough to be friends. I think his way of confessing wouldn't even be him, I don't think he'd confess, not really. I feel like he'd be afraid to be rejected or just not care too much about his feelings, though Kafka for sure noticed how Blade acted a lot softer when you were around. Even if it was unnoticeable by others, you think she wouldn't notice?
On Valentines day at school she would plant flowers and chocolate in your locker or on your desk, sign it off as a secret admirer and request to meet behind the school. And with the help of SilverWolf, convince Blade to go behind the school at the time you'd be there.
With you looking at him softly and the gifts "he got for you" in hand, and the snickers of his friends from behind a nearby corner. It seems he may as well be honest with you about his feelings right?
Dan Heng is also a quiet kid in class. I feel like he'd have a mix of people who secretly talk behind his back, though he always knows what they said and who they are no matter how discrete they try to be. But also he would have admirers. (have you seen how pretty he is??)
I think what would've got his attention on you is when you stood up for him. Some kids were talking bad about him during a free class, and he was going to shrug it off like always when you suddenly called the kids out. He's quick to step in before a loud arguments ensues but gives you a small thanks. He didn't mind what people thought about him but the fact someone who was practically a stranger to him stood up for him? He definitely acknowledges that.
March 7th probably introduced you too the friend group, he gave a small nod hi as he saw you. Due to this, you two hung out more and more together. When he realised he grew feelings for you, he consulted March who almost instantly outed his feelings for you due to how surprised and happy she was for him. And although March tried, none of her suggestions to confess was really Dan Hengs taste or style...He eventually decided to just write a small poem for you to confess instead. Giving it to you after school before retreating to his own house.
First time writing for HSR characters, hopefully it's alright aha. Proof read but I tend to miss things anyways, so feel free to correct me if I missed anything :)

Are We Returning To 2000s Era Shonen Anime/Manga (A Discussion)
So this is going to be way more of a thinkpiece than I usually do for this blog, but recent trends in the space and niche that I devote a lot of time to, Anime/Manga, have been showing themselves that got me thinking. This is not meant to be a serious sociology case study taken as fact, it's going to be more a theory based on observations of the community that I, like many others, devote a lot of time into than a full on claim, but I do want to ask, is the anime and manga community is experiencing a resurgence in 2000s era shonen manga?
Background
Now let me get this out of the way, there is bias in these observations as I am a western anime fan, but also a North American anime fan. Meaning my gateway and gauges of pop culture are mostly determined by the history of my area of the worldâs relationship with anime. From the OVAs of 80s hyper violent and hyper sexual sci fi that you had to purchase from the backs of video rental stores, to the Toonami era of 90s and early 00s programming block the centred around action anime and cartoons, the 4kids era of mass market japanese animated kids shows that were really just giant commercials with some of the earliest memetics in western sphere, and the explosion of shonen battle series in the western sphere in the mid to late 2000s marked by the rise of the colloquially named âBig 3â of shonen jump. I understand that continents like South America or Europe may have undergone a different exposure to the Japanese medium, but as I am going in with some bias in this observation, I would like to make it clear on where the formula is coming from. I also would like to lay down a certain clarification before making this, when discussing the topic of nostalgia I think a lot of people have forgotten what it actually means. If we go by the Cambridge dictionary definition, Nostalgia is âa feeling of pleasure and also slight sadness when you think about things that happened in the past.â This is often invoked when talking about pop culture because people from say 20 years ago donât seem to enjoy or relate to the interests of today. The belief is that nostalgia is generational ergo if you grew up in the 80s youâre likely wishing to recapture the feelings of childhood that you associate with those trends from 20 years ago. In fact, most revaluation in media has often been catalyzed by a difference of those who grew up in an era rebuffing the opinions of those who didnât.Â
There is the well known â20 Year Ruleâ regarding pop culture nostalgia. That every decade it longs for what was popular 20 years ago. Probably no better example than âThat 70s showâ being popular in the late 90s, the return of many beloved 80s-90s franchises like âGhostbustersâ returning in the 2010s as well as series like âStranger Thingsâ that wrapped itself up in 80s aesthetics. DC's New 52 relaunch that seemed to bring back trends from 90s era comics.
Now it goes without saying that the 20 year rule isnât a ârealâ rule, rather an observation that certain trends make a return to popularity because the ones who grew up with a certain media will be the ones who add to the discourse when they come of age and will be the ones having a chance to create consumable art for the masses and that may just be revivals of once popular IP. This isnât necessarily wrong in regards to nostalgia, but I do believe that one doesnât need to have been born in a certain era to be nostalgic for something when we discuss pop culture. Pop culture is really just trends and preferences that become en vogue and people can acquire a taste at any given time. Sometimes it can be due to those who grew up with something now having the chance to create and drawing upon their own childhoods, sometimes it's just due to not being exposed, other times it can be a certain feeling of disillusionment of the now, and seeking something that peaks your interest, and even sometimes it can be major corporations or networks looking for things with existing audiences to draw upon that actually expand the audience. In fact one of the most prominent Netflix adaptations of the 2020s has been live Action Avatar the Last Airbender and One Piece, both shows that got their start on American televisions in 2004 and 2005. One of the biggest animated shows right now is Invincible, based on a comic book from 2003
So I want to stress this is not necessarily about how if you grew up with the original Mobile Suit Gundam show you are being replaced by the kids who were watching GetBackers. And or if you are a fan of shows that came out in the 2000s you yourself were born in the 2000s.
But what was the landscape of the English speaking anime community like back in the 2000s? Well let me paint a portrait for you.
What was the 2000s like for anime fans?
The term I used, âshonen boom periodâ, is somewhat mythologized in the western anime sphere. There was a glut of high profile shonen anime running around the same time that most people identified with this time period and was arguably when we saw the most influx of people getting into the hobby. One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach served as big series known for their massively large casts, MCs with a level of attitude, some of the most hype centric power supernatural/extraordinary power systems, and certain brand of âJapanese-yâ humor. We canât deny that it wasnât just these series however, as series like Fullmetal Alchemist became many peopleâs introduction to more narratively intricate series interspersed with a somewhat gothic action style. The gothic and somewhat edgy Death Note became many fans' first ever âbattle series thatâs not a battle seriesâ that also incorporated many biblical and gothic horror elements into its presentation. And things like Code Geass also incorporated this combination of hyper stylized cat and mouse with ornate and gothic aesthetics and fighting robots.Â
Series like Ouran Highschool Host Club and and Haruhi Suzumiya were basically gateways to the more hyper extraordinary slice of life series that didnât shy away from fanservice and loud comedy. With ecchi like Rosario + Vampire taking it to an even greater extreme. For people willing to go even deeper, series like Fairy Tail began to pop up and share a distinct similar flavor to series like One Piece and Naruto which arguably started the popular conception of it coming from the same magazine as the latter. Thatâs not also discounting the amount of holdovers from the 90s like Dragon Ball z, Trigun, and Yu Yu Hakusho, which also had an edge towards fantastical combat and comedic oriented series.
All of this is to generally illustrate the media diet of what an average anime fan was expected to have some level of access to. As this was far before the eras of Funimation or Hulu having online services. Not a homogenized spread by any means, and im certain plenty of readers could name more underground or smaller series like Mushishi or Elphen Lied, but generally the popular mainstream you could tell that there was a consistent theme of long form media with a very loud, very flashy, and very action oriented type of series. Which I think is fair to say had skewed some peopleâs perception. And while I cannot claim with utter certainty that Japan was the same in this regard, you can look at magazines like Shonen Jump and notice a somewhat synchronistic trend. With series like Hitman Reborn, Gintama, D. Gray Man, Eyeshield 21, Bobobobo, etc.making a clear marcation of what was commercially successful at the time. Even series not inside the magazine but had smaller nicher, Tokyo-pop-esque series like Rave Master, Flame of Recca, Air Gear, Historyâs Strongest Disciple Kenichi, Soul Eater, etc all had a similarity to the shonen jump magazine. To the point it was not uncommon to see so many jump characters in a collage and one from shonen sunday or shonen magazine in there as if this was all coming from the same place.
Changing Landscape
Now with the advantages of the modern internet, we have the ability to actually keep up with the jump magazine in real time as opposed to the common practice of relying on scanlation site and fansubs that were often devoted to the most popular works. But with simultaneous publication and services like Crunchyroll, being able to access a wider variety of shows and series that we may or may not have access to. I believe that the 2010s in the english speaking fanbase was the decade we saw a somewhat expansionism of what people perceived as anime. Anime could be One Piece and Naruto, but it could also be Erased, it could be the Promised Neverland, Attack on Titan, K-On, Haikuu, and Durarara. With the representatives of the 90s no longer being holdovers in syndication like dragon ball but rather full on revivals of the likes of Jojoâs Bizarre Adventure and Hunter x Hunter.Â
All of these could be "shonen" but also other genres like Seinin, Josei, and Shojo all had their own varying layers of what they could be in their demographic
The mood of what was popular was also changing, not just in the fact that more flavors of anime and manga were becoming mainstream, but new works from shonen jump showed a rise in almost subversive series like My Hero Academia and Demon Slayer that seemed to consciously deviate or place new spins from traditional tropes of the 2000s characters, and we saw works that were derivative of previous serious like Black Clover drawing upon Naruto the same way it was known that Naruto had drawn upon Dragon Ball before them. Series like The Promised Neverland and Doctor Stone offered up more dramatic series that still infused a certain energy of the shonen genre.Â
And of course the series like Attack Titan whose much more darker and gorey storytelling seemed to have become one of if not the biggest hit of the generation with a well regarded adaptation, but something that had felt so removed from what were once contemporaries like the then ending Bleach or Naruto. We can also note that the late 2010s saw the rise of series like Chainsaw Man and Jujutsu Kaisen that began a trend of popular urban fantasy stories. Where fantastical concepts were now in contemporary Japan and the stories that focused on concepts like self identity and the harshness of maturing were juxtaposed to the real world inhabited by monsters.Â
It seemed many tropes of the previous decade were still alive in the rise of Isekai anime. Which was particularly the only popular outlet for fantasy stories with an action orientation. But these almost felt disconnected from the wider world of manga as things like heavy harem action series had actually decreased in mags like shonen jump. There was also new tropes being established in this subgenre that became unique popularizations of tropes all on their own, such as the overpowered protagonist whose power everyone believes is weak. But many of these were based on light novels, a form of media that only in the last few years western readers are having official access to and not simply scans found on the internet.
We in North America truly have gone from anime being a niche that was primarily accessible through dedicated TV blocks like Toonami, to a full blown cultural relevance shift.
We also need to talk about this era in its perception of the past also shifted. The 90s and the early 00s often blend together as classics of the anime community. Somewhat encased in amber. However, there is no denying that âfeels like a 2000s seriesâ had become a bit of a shorthand for very goofy, Very horny, very action heavy series. Series like Fire Force and and Undead Unluck had their show what more problematic elements be equated to the problematic trends of the past that people just accepted as âa part of the medium.â But lets keep in mind, this is not really describing a time, more a trend. Superficial elements that invoke similar feelings of the past.Â
Speaking of anime fansâŚ
Fan Culture
So while I wanted to paint a picture of creatively the landscape has changed, thereâs no denying that in the age of internet accessibility, the anime fan community has also changed. It is much much easier now to get in contact with people who are anime fans now than it was to rely on word of mouth like it was back in the day. I can still distinctly remember my anime club which wasnât even really a club devoted to anime but rather other geek stuff like D&D and TCGs. Our hobbies just happened to have similar overlap.
Now though, anime fan culture is much more relevant and thriving. Going from just posting weekly reviews, to long retrospectives, comedy videos, abridged series, clickbait articles, fan theories, and podcasts. However, I think a defining feature of fans of the 2000s era of anime that were at their most prominent was hype culture.Â
Due to many of the biggest anime series at the time being released weekly and focusing on action, many many many discussion boards and videos were often about staying in this cycle of wanting to see what happens next and the action made people very excited to see just how characters were going to win fights or even if theyâd have fights at all.Â
I want to make it clear that this type of activity doesnât belong to a certain era, but you can see it shaped by the 2000s era. Especially when discussing âwhat is the next big 3.â As if it were a true position and title, rather than a moment in time where there were just three very distinct shonen series in the fanbase. This doesnât necessarily have a ânegativeâ effect on the discussion of anime/manga but you can see that certain genres lend themselves to hyping fans up more and more.Â
Someone isnât reading the most recent chapter of a romance like Blue Box with the same level of anticipation of who will face who like it was One Piece. But there have certainly been series that try.
The Present
Now we reach the 2020s and this decade is still young, so it is hard to say what the future will hold for certainty, but we can look at the last four years and notice some significant waves being made recently in Shonen Jump alone. I already spoke of Undead Unluck, a series that almost wears it would now be considered retro inspirations on its sleeve. With an opening chapter that establishes an MC that seems motivated by a sexual joke, A power system follows a verbal naming gimmick, and a loose enough world that allows for characters of varying aesthetics and to be incorporated into groups. With groups of these powerful characters splitting up to face each other and use their ridiculous power to the extreme. Even in the series' own meta arc about creating manga, the in-universe analogy for Undead Unluckâs manga is commented on as feeling retro. There is no doubt the biggest viral hit of the decade so far has gone to Kagurabachi, a manga about sword fighting and magical crime lords that seems almost indulgent in its stylistic slicing and or dicing of baddies. Its memetic success was primarily due to a somewhat sincere and somewhat ironic belief that it would be the ânext big thingâ as it promised to be a stylized action series. Another surprise viral success has been the manga Nueâs Exorcist which sees another supernatural swordfighter boy harness the powers of his sexy spirit lady while getting into harem shenanigans that echo a particular form of ecchi of animeâs past that had actually been somewhat absent in the past decade in jump. Both of these series have a somewhat noticeable similarities to Bleach, a long running shonen action series that has seen its own revival in the last few years of writing this with the long awaited adaptation of the final arc of the bleach anime.Â
While the other members of the âbig 3â never truly went away and became almost inter-generational, Bleach truly did feel like a âcome backâ as it was absent for so long. And unlike Hunter x Hunter and Jojo which were never really popular in the west and even their older anime are more regarded as anime deep lore. Bleach was one of the most popular series in the west at the time to never receive a conclusion animated.Â
Speaking of anime of the 2000s Trigun Stampede was a reimagining of the original late 90s show. This errs a bit similar to Hunter x Hunterâs style of revival, but also seems uniquely its own in actually trying to find a balance between the original series but adding in things cut from its original late 90s early 2000s counterpart.Â
And now we must examine other shonen magazines. Series like Gachiakuta created by a former assistant of Okubo, the creator of Soul Eater, carries with it much of the similar energies of that series. Its also noticeable as being a truly dark fantasy series. Not an urban fantasy, but rather a completely new world that had a very grunge and dirty world building. And then there is Daemons of the Shadow Realm, a series by Fullmetal Alchemist creator Hiromu Arakawa. This series is also set in modern day japan with supernatural elements, however Arakawaâs style of writing is practically unchanged from her time on FMA. With an emphasis on action, intricate mysteries, and character building comedy with her trademark over exaggerated blocky style. There is of course Hiro Mashima who has started another new series, Dead Rock, and his style has also not changed that much. Then there is just flat out sequels to 2000s series like Gamaran Shura.
This to me shows that we are seeing a bit of a combination of people who are now entering the workforce inspired by creators of the past, but also that creators of the past still exist 20 years later and are still making content that hasnât really undergone significant change.Â
Of course, we canât also forget the implementation of the Manga Plus/J plus service which has opened up a very interesting ground for creators to have some of the most creatively out there series than what you may have expected from the shonen jump brand. I genuinely donât think series like Make the Exorcist Fall in Love or Fire Punch wouldâve ever been acceptable in the pages of a weekly shonen series. However one series in particular does feel like it could've and boy its been quite the success. Kaiju no 8.
Kaiju no 8 almost feels as though it is the AoT of a new generation with the amount of anticipation this one series has as well as the similarities between the series superficial elements. However, I'd say the key distinction between the two has been the tone. AoT took a dark and practically dour tone on its titan infested world. With an MC declaring war on all of his enemies. The pain was realistic, with human bodies being brittle and vulnerable. And the belief that just because you were a good person you weren't going to make it out alive. Kaiju no 8 instead opts for a more action oriented tone. Down playing the bleak realism for more "Hell yeah!" moments. With super science weapons that feel more akin to a tokusatsu show and fights and battles between humans an kanji the feel like the Dragon Ball style wrestling matches of old.
And of course, thatâs not to say Jump hasnât continued with series that feel more modern like the realistic and mellow romance of Blue Box or the dramatic coming of age story of Akane-Banashi.Â
But the presence of these series has caused somewhat of a friction with the popular conception of the magazine. Its safe to say that while âshonenâ tends to think of action male oriented series, it can really just mean works aimed more at adolescents. But I think many tend to associate this familiar feeling of âwhat is shonenâ with their popular introduction of the magazine. With a saturation of action and brash comedy series. This is further complicated by the fact many action series in jump are actually ending over the last decade. With new ones not popping up to replace them as frequently and series like One Piece and MHA and Black Clover basically stretching out across an entire decade or longer. In fact, I donât think it's unreasonable to believe that the hype for something like Kagurabachi was in part a belief that it signaled a return of a type of familiar series and genre that had been missing. Or at the very least, looked to fill an inevitable gap the magazine was obviously going to be facing. Followed by the other commercial success of Nueâs Exorcist, we are likely to see these series last for a long time. At the time of this writing, Tokyo Revengerâs author Ken Wakui has released Astro Royale, a series that feels very similar to his previous work yet infused with this almost GetBackers flavor.
So that leaves us with the question at the start, are we seeing a rise in 2000s nostalgia in anime and manga?
Conclusion
So I'm sorry if I disappoint, but the best I can say is, Iâm not certain. I do believe that from my observation I think it is reasonable to say that we are seeing a rise in creators in the shonen space being ones inspired by series from 20 years ago. However, I think we are also seeing creators who are from that time period also returning to write how they have always written.Â
On the consumer side, I think we can see that fans of anime and manga have changed in the sense their tastes can now be shaped by a much larger catalog of series at their disposal. But in the case of shonen, I think we are simply seeing those who likely got their start in anime at around the 2000s resonating with newer series drawing upon those series, but also with younger fans now likely to grow up with the tail end of what was popular in the 2010s now being influenced by the 2020s. I also believe that one of the defining features of the anime community in the last decade is hype culture. And currently we are seeing a rise in series that actually feel more catered to hype, be it a revival of a series they liked or predicting what will be the next success.Â
All and all, this piece was trying to tunnel on the shonen demographic in general, which is more likely than not going to have similar traits relative to itself. I do see us as a community endorsing trends of the past and thereâs an excitement for these things to âcome backâ even if they may or may not have left. If you liked this please drop a like or reblog because I may do more of these think pieces in the future.

This was meant to be a 200 word thing in case I donât get my bigger fic for today finished but it ended up a little longer! Iâm still hoping to get my longer fic finished as well but at least thereâs this
Set during Steve and Eddieâs joint senior year; pre-slash and I guess it could be interpreted as bullying (not between Steve and Eddie)
605 words / rated T / for day three of @steddie-week hurt/comfort
Eddie hopes whoever invented dodgeball is burning in a hell he doesnât believe in.
Itâs not like he canâtâand doesnâtâgive as good as he gets, throwing the balls as hard as he can back at the jock assholes who target him and the few other freaks in their grade. But all it takes is one second not paying attention and Eddie ends up with the beginnings of a black eye and an ache in his jaw.
Hagan high-fives one of his dickhead friends and Eddie flips them all the bird, grinning, hoping thereâs blood on his teeth. Thereâs a metallic taste in his mouth, anyway.
Heâs told to walk it offââWalk off my face?ââwhich he does, right out of the gym, and out to sit on a bench until he figures itâs safe to go back to the locker room for his shit.
At least no one comes to drag him back in and, when he sees everyone else file out, he slinks back so he can change and grab his bag. Heâs sitting on the bench, tying up his shoes, when a pair of sneakered feet appear in front of him.
âHere.â A hand thrusts something wrapped in a dishcloth under his nose.
He looks up to see Steve Harrington standing there, holding whatever it is out for Eddie to take. Eddieâs eyes narrow.
âItâs just ice.â Harrington waggles his hand. âFigured you could use some.â
Eddie stares a moment longer, then he takes the proffered wrapped ice. Heâs pretty sure thereâs no ulterior motive here and, anyway, Harringtonâs never targeted him. Or anyone really. He mostly ignores Eddie, and Eddie mostly ignores him. âWhereâd you even get this?â
âI have my ways.â
âThatâs mysterious.â Eddie holds the ice to his face, hissing at the touch. Thereâs going to be a gnarly bruise later. When Harrington just stands there, Eddie adds, âDonât you have somewhere to be?â
âOh, yeah, donât want to keep all my friends waiting,â Steve mutters, crossing his arms.
Eddieâs brow furrows. Itâs been a while since heâs seen Harrington with his usual crew, not that Eddie pays that much attention. He thinks heâs still on the prom committee or yearbook or both. Whatever popular kids do. But, if Eddie thinks about it, heâs pretty sure heâs usually alone otherwise. Itâs weird, but Eddieâs whole face hurts, and he just wants to go home.
Still, heâs got manners, so he says, âThanks for the ice.â
Harrington shrugs one shoulder. âItâs cool.â
âVery. Frozen in fact.â
Harrington snorts, then he bites his lip. âHey, uh⌠Donât let those guys get to you. Tommyâs an asshole.â
âI know. And I donât.â
âOkay.â
A strange silence hangs over the locker room and Eddieâs not entirely sure whatâs happening.
And then Harrington says, âAnyway, just⌠â looking at Eddie. He picks up his bag, slinging it over one shoulder. âRemember to dodge next time.â
Eddie gives a little salute, which gets the ghost of a smile from Harrington and watches him walk out the locker room. He sits there a while longer, holding the melting ice to his face, before he finally grabs his bag and heads out to his van.
The parking lot is pretty much empty, except for a few teachersâ cars, so Harrington has obviously gone home. If it wasnât for the wet dishcloth on the passenger seat, Eddie could easily believe it was some kind of concussed daydream. But it wasnât. It was real.
Eddie shakes his head, shoving the key into the ignition. Steve Harrington bringing him ice is definitely the weirdest thing thatâs happened to him.
#steddie#Steve x eddie#Steddie fic#Steddie fanfic#steddieweek2023#Eddie munson#steve harrington#this is the first thing Iâve written that wasnât set post S4!!!#itâs not my usual thing but it was fun to do something different#anyway I really hope I get my longer fic finished!!!#Pizzaqueenfic

reputation // are you ready for it?
prologue summary: The one where you, a somewhat well-known singer, figure out exactly how to leave your boyfriend who so happens to work as an assistant coach at West Ham.
Eventual Jamie Tartt x Reader
i was inspired to make a series by @buckychristwrites and @illiterateaffairs, who made the beautiful series' 'About You' and 'Distractions' respectively, so let's give this a go
word count: 0.7k
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Folklore and Evermore are fantastic for someone like (L/N), but is it enough to top the charts?"
"While (L/N)âs storytelling and emotion come through, does she have the audience for such a piece?â
âPrevious attempts at topping the charts proved difficult, country or pop, what can (L/N) do next to be number one?â
âFans approve of the narrative, but do the numbers?â
âItâs definitely a reach releasing two albums within a year of each other. I mean how desperate can you be?
âAfter experimenting with an album sampling multiple genres at eighteen, is this what (L/N) is finally good at?â
~
Itâs exhausting. Everything. Trying to prove yourself while also trying not to seem full of yourself. How can someone just rise to the top of the charts? How can you be good enough? Every day there were articles calling you names and how much of a failure you are and could be. The bad always outweighed the good things people had to say. How can you make someone see who you are and what you are trying to do? Itâs impossible to conform to every single version of yourself that people want you to be. It doesnât help when your boyfriend has already achieved his dream. Helping coach his favorite team. A bittersweet thing to see. His compliments that can seem backhanded at teams. Youâll get there sometime babe. Donât worry, youâre number one to me. Humiliating coming from someone so fake and narcissistic. Oh yes, the boyfriend you have put your life on pause for, albeit being together for two years, has been cheating on you for the past 3 months. Utterly humiliating.
It only gets worse considering he took over the job of managing you and where you play as an artist. It gave him some sort of promotion of rank amongst the other coaches. Nobody really recognized you at the football events he âbookedâ for you. Why would these older men listen to songs about a fictional love triangle? The only ones who recognized you were the bored teenage daughters dragged along to such events.
And asking for help is out of the question. Your best friend was only so far from you, playing for A.F.CÂ Richmond. Phone calls and texts could be made any second of the day and you would be swooped away, but you chose not to. Colin has a busy life as you do, so it wouldnât be right to call him about every single problem you were having, right? You were both doing what youâve wanted to do since you were kids (one enjoying it more than the other), so why should you disrupt his life with yours?
But when you wake up the next morning with the opportunity of a lifetime, it seems like life has taken a turn for the better.Â
âBabe! Babe!â
You turn towards the doorway of your writing room resting your hands in your lap from their place on the piano. Derek leans against the doorway, trying to catch his breath.
âThey want you to play! At the stadium!â
What.
âWhat are you on about?â
âRupert wanted to one-up that ex-wife of his and Jasmine gave the idea of getting someone popular amongst fans to perform at halftime in a game against Richmond! Fantastic isnât it! Youâve got to thank Jasmine for this, god that woman is amazing.â
Derek disappears down the hallway still shouting at the news. You sit wide-eyed and frozen. Not only at the news, performing in front of hundreds of fans at what possibly is one of the biggest games is a huge opportunity and you should be happy about it. Well, you are, but the name that left your boyfriendâs mouth gave it a sour taste. Jasmine. The woman he kisses and loves behind your back. And the one who gave you a chance at the spotlight in two months' time. Popular amongst fans? Was she being serious or being sarcastic? Nonetheless, what the hell.
An amazing woman, you think.
You stand and make your way to the nook in the window. You stare down at the people who walk past before grabbing at the journal and sitting yourself down. Opening the journal to the page marked by a pen holding its place, you start writing down your next idea.Â
reputationÂ
You drag the pen quickly on the page leaving a straight line underneath the word, a smirk making its way to your face.

[Hellsing] Female Fans' Round-Table Discussion
A 6-page interview from the 2012 Hellsing Official Guidebook, featuring five grown-ass women chatting about Hellsing in a casual discussion format and translated into English for the first time ever by yours truly.
Honestly this was way more entertaining to read than I thought it would be. Itâs also really funny seeing this super-casual discussion printed in the book right alongside Hirano'sâ-oh who am i kidding, this is 10x more professional and less deranged than whatever goes on in Hiranoâs interviews.
Anyway, without further ado...
Does Hellsing have little to no female fans? Nay! Assembled before you are five women with an undying love for the series. Letâs see their passion for this work show itself as they butt heads!
Is the female fanbase just hiding itself or what?
Moderator: Now then, everyone, letâs start off with introductions.
Ms. T: I am Ms. T. Iâve been walking the path of an otaku since middle school, and itâs already been â years since then. How do I put this, all of you seem like fairly normal peopleâŚ
Everyone: Oh noârest assured we are all otaku as well. (laughter)
Ms T: Oh, really? (laughs) Anyway, Iâve continued to love manga for all this time. Thank you for having me.
Ms J: Iâm Ms J. I was already at a decent age when Hellsing began serialization, but to create something so enticingâas expected of Hirano-sensei! (laughs). This is the kind of manga Iâd better buy and collect, I thought.
Ms A: Out of todayâs gathering, Iâm probably the one who became an otaku at the oldest age. (laughs) My friend told me, âHellsing is a manga that really crazy people readâ, so at first I couldnât get around to starting it. But around the time volume 8 came out, I binge-read it, and it was so interesting that I couldnât help but get obsessed.
Ms R: Iâm probably the youngster in this group. By the time Hellsing started serialization, I was just entering middle school. [T/N: That makes her 27 at the time of this interview.]
Of course we didnât really have the term "edgy-teen syndrome" back then, but around me the manga was definitely gaining popularity in that edgy teen fashion. One of my best friends was obsessed with Hellsing and Iâd borrow it after they finished reading it, and I got addicted too.
Moderator: Iâm under the impression that the female readership for Hellsing is overwhelmingly small, butâŚ
Ms J: Nah, I think theyâre just hiding. I mean, itâs not like youâd talk about Hellsing to someone in passing. You wouldnât suddenly say, âYâknow, Alucard isâŚâ
Everyone: True. (laughs)
Ms J: There isnât much opportunity to bring it up, or perhaps you could say itâs a hard topic to bring up to the general public.
Ms A: Like how you canât have a pork-and-rice bowl first thing in the morning or something.
Ms J: Yeah, like that. Actually, among my circle of female otaku friends, everyone has read Hellsing.
Ms T: Among manga fans, Kouta Hirano is well-understood.
Ms J: Any fan of manga who doesnât know Kouta Hirano is a faker!
Ms T: Disregarding whether youâve properly sat down and read his works or not, I feel like itâs impossible for a manga enthusiast to not have at least heard of Hirano-sensei. But we are talking about manga fans in general, and the range of tastes is so broad. If someone were to say to me âIâm a fan of Kouta Hiranoâ, only then would I be like, âOh, so I can talk comfortably with this personâ.
Moderator: Itâs a good litmus test to use. (laughs)
Ms A: Itâs only when you broach the topic of Kouta Hirano that you can finally talk about Hellsing. You canât go straight from âSo I hear you like mangaâ to âSo, about HellsingâŚâ, lol.
Ms J: If you met someone for the first time and you go âSo I heard you like manga? What about Hellsing?â thatâs like coming straight for their throat with a knife. (laughs)
Moderator: Even as a gauge to see how much of an otaku your opponent is, itâs a bit too much to try and break the ice with Hellsing.
The wonders of dialogue
Ms J: Speaking of the good points of Hellsing, I think itâs that it doesnât get overly preachy. You can see this starting from Cross Fire, but you really get the sense that everyoneâs equally crazy here.
Ms A: I can see that. No one is on the side of justice. Like the Major, heâs a nasty little guy. The type of guy who would casually twist off an antâs legs or something like that.
Ms J: That Major, his beta male levels are literally off the charts.
Everyone: (bursts into laughter)
Ms J: Actually, something that caught my interest about the setting is that only virgins can become vampires. In the first place, I donât think European vampire lore makes that kind of distinction.
Ms T: Father Anderson is probably a virgin, since he has religious reasons for celibacy. Though it might depend on religious sect. I wonder if thereâs a meaning behind this concept of chastity?
Ms J: The idea of chastity is valued in the Hellsing universe as well.
Ms A: Right, since if you arenât a virgin you become a ghoul, and then itâs game over and thereâs nothing you can do about it.
Ms R: Speaking of which, Integraâs a virgin, too.
Ms T: Integra being a virgin is an important part of the story.
Ms J: In my personal opinion, the best couple is definitely Alucard and Integra.
Ms R and Ms A: I was going to say the same!
Ms T: Integra and Alucard call each other âCountâ, donât they? You know, in a previous life itâs possible that Integra was a man. Perhaps Alucard is seeing the Count Hellsing of the past through Integra. Thinking about that possibility makes a girlâs heart flutter. Not to mention Integraâs appearance leans towards that of a manâ Ah, itâs just so peak! [T/N: I'm not being facetious, çă literally means peak]
Ms A: Those who want to read a male/female romance can enjoy doing so, and for people who like BL, there are plenty of elements that can be enjoyed as BL also. I feel like the reason you can enjoy both things is because the relationships that are depicted are not constrained purely to sexual love.
Ms J: For those who like to read into the BL aspect, there are lots of fight scenes that canât be ignored, can they? Particularly in the endgame. Like Girlycard and Young Walter, that was...really something.
Moderator: That part was just unfair! I mean, after getting captured by Millennium and going M.I.A., all that anticipation was building and building, and for Walter to be reintroduced like that!
Ms J: When I got to that part I was like, âMan, Hirano-sensei really did his best to keep all that stuff pent-up for so long". For both Walter and Girlycard, I mean.
Moderator: Speaking of Girlycard, I get the feeling that the idea for her was in place since the early stages of story development.
Ms J: I wonder about that⌠on the other hand it seems like it was a very spontaneous decision. (laughs)
Ms A: Even if the story developments feel spontaneous, I feel like the characters' settings are polished to a high degree from the beginning. Even though a new character suddenly appears out of nowhere, you end up following along without feeling a sense of discomfort. In Hirano-sensei's mind, I'm sure that each character is cultivated with an equal amount of attention. After that it's just a matter of deciding what situations the character will appear in.
Ms J: Each character is excellently molded to their place in the story. Even though normally it should be very challenging to create characters that would fit in this sort of world. (laughs) From the moment of their introduction, they are already dyed in Hirano's unique brand, and you can tell that Hirano understands them well.
Ms R: After all, characters from his past works before Hellsing make appearances in the manga, so you get the feeling that these are ideas that have been stewing in his head for a long time.
Moderator: And within Hellsing too, these characters grow and develop. Like Maxwellâhe started out as a mere brat, but then he went full tryhard mode and developed that cunning and pretentious side to him.
Everyone: (leans forward) Yeah, that's right!!
Ms J: âAnd he had that past with Anderson, didn't he? I was like "Hold on a sec, a flashback scene now, are you kidding me"? Even though I knew that a flashback is basically a death flag, I couldn't help but love it. (laughs)
Ms A: At the final moment, Maxwell called Anderson "Sensei", a reversal of their dynamic thus far. Up until then there were hints of foreshadowing, but nothing definite. But with that single word you could feel the adoration Maxwell had felt for Anderson when he was a child... It's amazing how potent that line was. The timing of delivery was excellent, too.
Ms R: Up until that point Maxwell was portrayed as nothing more than a snob, but the truth is there were reasons why he became that way.
Ms T: Hirano-sensei is very skilled at depicting relationships between men.
The beauty of composition
Ms A: In Hellsing, there aren't any characters that go too far beyond the range of normal anatomy.
Even with regards to enemies and such, there aren't any massively gargantuan or bulky characters. Everyone is more or less normal. And yet, there is so much impact in the poses that it leaves you with a strong impression. Those standout panels just radiate styleâso much so that anyone with an eye for art will be impressed by them, I think.
Ms T: The paneling is relatively simple, but the composition sense of each panel is amazing.
Ms R: I love the stuff like Rip Van's silhouette. The balance between her and the musket is super cool. Even though something that size in real life would be impractical to shoot, it looks so cool that it's like, "Who cares!"
Ms A: Fight scenes that should have a lot of movement are instead surprisingly depicted with still frame shots, and they have a beauty to them reminiscent of paintings. It makes me want to stare at the same handful of panels for a long time. Calling it aesthetic beauty might be a bit of an exaggeration, but...
Ms T: Not an exaggeration at all, I think there is a lot of aesthetic beauty. For me, when I look at Hirano-sensei's artwork, I'm reminded of ukiyo-e paintings. And in the movement, I sense a bit of kabuki theater.
Moderator: Each panel is created with beauty in every nook and cranny, so as to work as a standalone illustration.
Ms R: The way shadow and blood is depicted is so good, isn't it? It really makes full use of the monochrome medium.
Ms A: When I was reading the scene in volume 8 when Cromwell Level 0 is released and soldiers are unleashed in hordes, it reminded me of a medieval copperplate engraving. The plot developments in that moment were so interesting, and the density of the illustrations so rich, that simply staring at them was enjoyable.
Ms T: It really draws you in, doesn't it? In other manga that have very detailed art styles, the realism makes it feel similar to a liveaction movie. But Hirano's works are 100% "manga", I would say. In that sense, none of it is realistic at all. But that's why it's possible to achieve poses and compositions that are impossible with photography, and that's why he can portray things I didn't even know I would want to see.
The position of women in Hellsing
Moderator: To all of you, was there a scene where you were like, "This scene right here is where I became obsessed"?
Ms J: So this is my personal taste, but I liked the setup of the handsome lady Master and the handsome male Servant. I like butlers, too. So once those three conditions were satisfied, I was like, "This is a good manga". The part where I was like "This is a really good manga" was when Anderson was introduced. At first, I was thinking this would be a story where Alucard dotes upon Seras and raises her up as a vampire, but then we were introduced to a Catholic priest from the same religion, yet who aims to defeat the protagonists...
Ms A: You can't deny the impact of Anderson. The only thing he wants to do is "exterminate vampires". While characters in Hellsing may undergo sudden changes, they never waver. They race from their introduction to their final chapter with just as much momentum as when they were first introduced. Not only is it satisfying to read, you won't be disappointed. As long as your favorite character appears, you can focus all your attentions on them, and before you know it you'll have binge-read to the last chapter. (laughs)
Ms T: For me, the scene when Integra discovers Alucard in the basement, and Alucard was revived with her blood is when I became hooked. While it is an expected development for vampire stories, that part of the story was very beautiful. And afterwards, I loved the tender portrayal of Seras's growth. Among ero-guro media, there are many works that portray women in a demeaning manner, but Hellsing is not one of them.
Ms A: In Hellsing, there is no distinction in the roles that are assigned to men and women.
Ms J: Indeed, women fight and stand on the front lines. And it feels natural.
Ms R: To tell the truth, when I first started reading Hellsing, I thought Integra was a man. And, for some reason it felt overly pandering [T/N: I assume she means pandering to fujoshi] and I just couldn't get into it. But then I realized Integra was a woman, and I was like "Oh, so it's a female/male master-servant relationship! I'm sorry for making such a weird assumption!" (laughs) I feel like it's important that Integra is a woman.
Ms T: In volume 1 there were moments where Integra was told incredulously, "You're a woman?", but in those moments I always felt that, ironically, being called a "woman" was what made her so much more cool. In Hellsing, you get the feeling that all characters are loved by the creator regardless of being male or female, enemy or ally. There are many standout characters among the villains, for example.
Ms J: Each character showcases their individuality in their fighting style as well.
Ms A: I love that Rip Van is this scrawny girl with long limbs, who wields an old-fashioned musketâit gives off a really fantastic impression. The fact that a girl is given that kind of position, without it feeling offensive. When men draw female characters there tends to be a bit of double standards going on, or it can feel cloying or annoying depending on the scenario, but I don't feel that in Hellsing.
Ms J: Far from being annoying, the depictions of women feel unique and cool in their own way.
Ms A: You're right. Traditionally, female characters are accompaniments to the hero, aren't they? But Integra takes the lead, and while Seras is supported by those around her, she moves according to her own choices. Even among the female villains, they are given important roles that they carry out to the end, so you can read while feeling a sense of satisfaction.
Points you would recommend to other women
Ms T: Doesn't the series in general have a sort of sensuality?
Ms J: It does. As it gets nearer and nearer to the endgame, even the fight scenes show more tenderness. It's like a "They love each other, therefore they trade blows" vibe that feels erotic.
Ms R: When Alucard returned to London in volume 8, it felt pretty romantic.
Ms T: On the other hand, the explanations about weapon specs that pop up everywhere seem very male-oriented. I guess this is what you call the author's hobby.
Ms J: Speaking of the author's hobby, I feel like the fact that Walter is an old man is one of them. If you think about it purely in terms of reader appeal, there should have been no problem if Walter was young from the beginning. I get the impression that he was like, "If you're going to add a butler, it better be an old geezer". Ahhâthe more I reread, the more I feel like I discover new things.
Moderator: There is plenty more we weren't able to talk about, but to close us off, please appeal to the women who haven't read Hellsing yet as to why they should read the series.
Ms A: The female characters are so full of life, so why not give it a try mainly for the female characters?
Ms T: You can read it together with your boyfriend! There are lots of battles and weapons that guys would like, and there's no nasty relationship drama, so it might actually be a big hit among couples.
Ms J: "Look at Integra and Alucard, honey, they're just like us!" or something? (laughs)
Ms R: When you think of vampire media, you might be inclined to imagine something campy and whimsical. But even though there's a lot of absurdism at play, the world is based on real historical facts. So I want to recommend it broadly, even to those that don't normally enjoy fantasy.
Ms T: I feel like Hellsing is like a very strong liquor. At first you might feel that the taste is overwhelming, but once you get used to it, it becomes delicious.
Ms J: Please go in with zero expectations and give it a read.
Moderator: Thank you all for your time today!

This has been a really hard one to talk about. I'm always very ambivalent about mourning celebrities. I try to remember that I don't know these people, that what is really mourned by most of us is the person's ongoing work, which in the best cases has helped us understand ourselves and the world in which we live. Unavoidably, though, you can start to develop the sense that you know these people personally, which isn't true or even appropriate necessarily, I mean you have no idea whether you would even like someone you've only seen on a screen or received an autograph from; but at the same time, I don't know if you can really force yourself not to feel like the deceased celebrity is a dear friend you will never get to talk to again (the last time I tried and failed was the passing of Lux Interior). Maybe this is more forgivable, and also more inevitable, if you feel like you grew up with the person.
Of course this is all about ME now, but my mother (who also died from cancer) was an extremely hip, brilliant, funny individual who for whatever reason refused to form a relationship with me. This was pretty strange, because we liked a lot of the same things--B movies, old comics, all types of camp and kitsch--but when I liked those things, it was in poor taste and punishable by exile, whereas when she liked those things, it was evidence of her cultural genius. Before I make anybody too mad I should say that I'm being a little bit unfairly reductive just so I can get to the point, which is that one of the few things we could share was Pee-Wee's Playhouse. I didn't know anything about the show's more adult origins or the fact that Paul Reubens was sort of a performance artist, but I didn't have to. Pee-Wee's Playhouse was a feast for any child's senses: stylish, hilarious, and on some subliminal level, really sophisticated. I was clued into some of what was going on just because I watched it with my mom, who always laughed at Pee-Wee's winks and nudges to the hep parents in the audience. The show might have been my first encounter with the kind of anthropological humor favored by people like David Byrne and Laurie Anderson, artists who engage subversively with cliches, stereotypes, and other memetic parts of popular culture. In Pee-Wee's Playhouse, with its sharp, edgy cast and crew, kids like me were getting into fine art without even knowing it--which is possibly the best way to learn about art anyway.
In fact, on the other side of our house, I became obsessed with Gary Panter's incredible punk opus Jimbo In Paradise, a Dantesque comic book about an innocent young guy living in a dystopian future, where he is occasionally joined by guest stars such as Nancy and Hedorah. I was about 7 when I started reading Jimbo over and over again even though I could barely understand it, and I had no idea that Gary had pretty much designed Pee-Wee's Playhouse. I'm speaking about him so familiarly because I got to know him a little bit as a grownup. I remember Gary talking about how private Paul Reubens could be. He used to do this thing where he would accept a dinner invitation from anybody who asked, as sort of a stunt, but he had to stop doing it because people became so intrusive and entitled with him. Gary said that they'd be walking around in New York and when they saw an obvious Pee-Wee fan gearing up for an offensive, Paul Reubens would sort of transform into this totally different person, putting out an aura that let you know not to fuck with him. It's crazy-making to think that someone who was so protective of the boundary between his private and public selves had to suffer that ridiculous arrest, but it's heartening that most of society eventually grew the fuck up and forgot about it. It's also helpful to remember when he turned up later on the MTV Music Video Awards and started off by asking the audience, "HEARD ANY GOOD JOKES LATELY??"
I'm glad we got one more Pee-Wee special in the past several years, but I always wished that we would see Paul Reubens in more movies. He was such a cool actor, funny, convincing, and naturally charismatic. While people are cycling through their favorite roles of his, I want to point out that he had a great role on a recent HBO miniseries called Mosaic, an intense, engrossing crime drama that I definitely recommend if you have access. Maybe I'll rewatch it, too. In closing, here's a great story that I grabbed from Facebook that should warm everybody's heart, along with the heartbreaking statement (inappropriately cropped by Instagram of course) released upon the death of the very private Pee-Wee Herman. It makes you wish you could thank him in person, for everything. The best we can do is just remember him.

Yandere!Chef HC
=============
Character: Adam
:::::::::::::::::
° Adam is your run-of-the-mill chef. He has his own restaurant in the city, which is one of the most popular ones in the area. His food is just that good, it will melt on your tongue and the savoury taste will haunt you for the rest of your life and force you to come back. It's great for business.
° Being busy in maintaining the restaurant he never really had time getting out there, you know. Going on dates and such was never an option for him, not if he wished to keep his establishment. Which was something he couldn't risk losing since it had been his dream for a very long time, ever since he was a young boy.
° It's not like he wanted to live alone for the rest of his life, he would die of happiness to have someone to love him for him and be able to come home to a set of warm open arms. But sadly the conditions hindered him from reaching out and search for the one. Adam is a romantic at heart, his other dream besides being a chef is to experience the love he witnessed his parents give each other.
° growing up in a home where his parents openly displayed deep affection for one another, it obviously rubbed of on their son. Compared to most kids who expressed disgust when seeing their parents kissing or hugging, he thought it was cute and felt lucky to have been born in a loving family. They always said they were soulmates and when they met they instantly knew they belonged together. It made him long to grow up and find his true love.
° Adam believed he would have to give up on that dream and focus on his career until he died. But you restored hope in his heart. You made it beat wildly and uncontrollably. He'd hoped for love all his life and he finally got it, but he didn't know it'd be so...strong. So...overwhelming.
° How you met is quite obvious, you decided to visit his restaurant together with a friend after seeing a post online referring to the place and becoming interested. Adam somehow got sight of you and thought you seemed like a lovely and kind person, and he was right. Listening of conversations after being intrigued by you, he found out you were exactly how he believed you'd be. Becoming more and more engrossed in you to the point you were plaguing his mind every day.
° He began watching you every time you sat foot inside his restaurant which eventually turned into more, he followed you to other places.
° As a chef, cooking and sharing his self made dishes with others is natural. But it meant nothing if he could please you with his skills. The thought of you enjoying his creations gave him that incredible feeling of both pride and joy. Heâll cook for you anytime you want and put lots of love and care into it. It was you after all, not some nameless customer that he saw on a daily basis.
° He is without a doubt one of the sweetest boyfriends you could have, heâll cook for you, do some cleaning, and spoil you to his content. You think heâs a little overbearing? No no, heâs simply looking after you. He loves you so much he canât stop! You take that heâs too jealous at times? Theyâre trying to get between you, he canât let them. Itâs too hard to be with him, you canât take it much longer. You realise he isnât the best boyfriend that you initially thought and begin to distance yourself from him, when he confronts you about it you play it off and asks what he is talking about. Too bad he can easily read you, it wonât work. He knows youâre avoiding him on purpose.
° He will try everything in his power to find out what exactly is wrong and why youâre pulling away from him. But every time he asks you ignore him and go to busy yourself with something else. Heâll try again and again, but thereâs only so much he can take until he wonât.
° Adam will have to channel his emotions somewhere, and that is towards your friends. The ones who must have put you up to it. The ones who must have brainwashed you into distancing yourself.
° He always wondered if people would be able to differ animal meat from their own.
