Undertale Month Day 2: Flowey
UT month schedule
< Day 1 < ★ Day 2 ★ > Day 3 >
Welcome to day two! Thinking of something interesting to do with Flowey can be hard, because sometimes it feels like everything has been done already! However, I reminded myself that there isn't an absolute need to be a trail blazer, and quickly decided on a fun premise. Day two!
There were many things that sucked about being a flower. Lack of limbs, mysterious emotional blankness, etc etc. The worst part though was probably the question. "Hello little flower, what's your name?" No one had been named Asriel in a long time, so he always got a hundred follow up questions. That, or he'd die immediately. What was that Sans guy's issue? Dodging the question was a great way to make people suspicious too of course. The obvious solution was to lie. The problem was that he couldn't think of a good one.
Asriel found Papyrus at the edge of Snowdin, painting that rock arch to look like a bridge. He always did that eventually if the reset ran long enough.
"Howdy Papyrus!"
Papyrus turned to look at Asriel with a start. He was starting to act a little jumpy around him this reset. Another thing he always did. Asriel was starting to suspect Sans was telling Papyrus to be careful. Which was stupid! He was just a Flower! Ugh, nevermind. He wasn't here for that today.
"Any chance I could get your help with something real quick?"
Papyrus grinned with a little trepidation.
"UM, OF COURSE ASRIEL! HELPING IS WHAT FRIENDS ARE FOR AFTER ALL!"
He was getting way too on edge this reset. Hopefully Sans wasn't too close by.
"I've been thinking about using a nickname when I introduce myself, but I can't think of anything good. Most people ask a lot of silly questions y'know?"
Papyrus put a glove to his chin, intrigued.
"A NICKNAME YOU SAY? AND YOU'RE ASKING ME? WELL, OF COURSE YOU ARE! WHO WOULDN'T ASK FOR THE ASSISTANCE OF THE EVER INVENTIVE PAPYRUS! HRMMM... A NICKNAME FOR MY FLOWER FRIEND..."
Papyrus snapped his fingers.
"I'VE GOT IT! THE PERFECT NICKNAME!"
"Oh really? What an honor!"
"YES, YOU WILL TRULY BE BLOWN AWAY!"
"Well, don't keep me waiting Papyrus!"
"YOU WILL BE CALLED... FLOWEY!"
Papyrus beamed at him. He stared back.
"... Flowey huh? Flowey the Flower?"
"INGENIOUS, ISN'T IT?"
Flowey chuckled at that.
"Yeah, I'd dare say you're almost as good as the king."

Skeleton's kid is playing with a small ball. They wants their dad to play with them so they throw him the ball. The ball goes straight in the eye socket.
Undertale Sans - Ouch. He's dead. He lays on the floor like a dying sea star and stays there. The kid panics, thinking they just killed their dad, and runs to Uncle Papyrus, crying in terror. Papyrus sighs, grabs Sans by the legs, and shakes it like a coconut until the ball comes out before dropping him back on the floor and going back to his cooking.
Undertale Papyrus - He lets go a loud painful "NYEEEEH" before frantically shaking his head to get it out. The kid is laughing hysterically, thinking their dad is just feeling silly when he's actually in pain. Once the ball finally gets out, he falls on his knees, out of breath. He needs a second. The kid picks the ball back and throws it in his eye socket again. RIP Papyrus.
Underswap Sans - He's so annoyed right now, and humiliated. He tried to get it back but his arm is too short. So he walked to Undyne's place so she can take it out, having to suffer through Alphys mockery all the time it lasted. He then went home and faceplants in his bed and didn't move from there before the next day.
Underswap Papyrus - Just the thought of having to put his hand inside is skull is too traumatizing for poor Honey who decides to pass out to protect himself lol. Blue takes advantage of this to grab the ball and squeeze it out. Honey wakes up as Blue is lecturing his kid about making their dad pass out for no reason.
Underfell Sans - It's not glorious but he starts to loudly curse, screaming dozens of insults as he's trying to fetch the ball back. He's quite relieved when he finally manages too. That's it until his kid, very amused, starts to repeat everything he just said to the exact word. S/O is so going to kill him.
Underfell Papyrus - Urgh. Without blinking, he picks the ball out of his socket. Actually, it's not a ball, it's a knife. Uh. How did it get there? Oh, that's why his eye was itchy! Anyway. He throws the knife away and puts his hand back into his socket to take out the ball. The kid stares in awe. How many things can they possibly put inside his socket? They're definitely trying to see as soon as he's sleeping on the couch.
Horrortale Sans - He stays frozen on the couch. If he doesn't move, it doesn't hurt. As he just stays perfectly still, the kid starts to get worried and goes ask Uncle Willow for help. The only problem is that it hurts, and Oak definitely doesn't want his brother's hand inside his head. As soon as Willow enters the room, he starts to growl as a warning. Willow pins him on the floor and as Oak is trashing on the floor trying to bite him, he takes out the ball. Oak immediately stops moving after that. Oh. It feels better. Willow calls him a drama queen on the way out.
Horrortale Papyrus - The kid stays speechless as Willow lectures them while fishing the ball inside his own eye socket. It's clearly painful as poor Willow won't stop growling or whining through his lecture, but he's determined to get the ball out, which happens eventually. The kid is quite impressed.
Swapfell Sans - He casually uses his gun to lift the ball inside his eye sockets and picks it up more easily. S/O enters right at that moment and starts to panic thinking Nox is trying to shoot himself. Well, they are even madder learning why he's doing that. Did he think about the example he's giving to the kid? Well. No, clearly, he didn't.
Swapfell Papyrus - He has no resistance to pain whatsoever and starts to high-pitched screams while rolling on the floor to get it out. The kid is laughing so hard and asking him to do it again. The funniest part is that the ball comes out eventually, but Rus doesn't see it and keeps screaming in agony for twenty minutes before realizing it came out. Oh. He's fine now.
Fellswap Gold Sans - He's so mad he didn't manage to dodge this. He's the general of the royal guard, what if it was a bullet? He picks out the ball mumbling to himself then suddenly throws it at full force into the kid's head, who starts crying. Uh. So he didn't lose his reflexes. Good to know. Ah shit, the kid, he forgot he was a dad for a minute. He comes to comfort them lol.
Fellswap Gold Papyrus - Poor Coffee is in a fetal position on the floor, crying in pain. It hurts too much to take it off so he decides it was best to just stay there, hugging his kid like some puppy to comfort himself until Wine comes home and saves him. Wine finds him asleep on the floor. The ball rolled out of his head by itself eventually.

I'm here to announce the Our Underland AU, a cross AU between Our Wonderland and Undertale
If you're here for the art then here it is! Details and ideas on the AU below the read more!
Tumblr media
Soooooooo, first thing's first, this is an Our Wonderland AU and follows the rules of Our Wonderland, it can and will get dark and horrific. There's no dust, there will be blood.
THIS CONTAINS OUR WONDERLAND (through to the end of act 5) AND UNDERTALE SPOILERS
The basic idea is that after Iggy falls into Wonderland, he wakes up on a thick growth of common strawberries and explores an underground of faces he recognises that don't recognise him.
I will note that I'm missing a character for Alphys, I'm out of the main crew and Cecil and Jerry already have roles
Note that "humans" and "monsters" are instead "the fallen" and "the sealed" as there are at least 5 humans going around. The fallen are the only people to remember that this is Wonderland and have a wish still avaliable to use, of course this means the sealed want the wishes themselves.
I've done my best to work with the wishes when putting characters in places and I have mentioned the wishes from the end of act 5 as well. I also remember seeing a post where if Iggy was to stay in Wonderland for too long, he would become an actual emotionless void which is played into a bit
Possible character swaps:
Iggy -> Frisk
Protagonist
The last of the fallen
Dressed in Frisk style clothes
The more he kills, the more hollow he feels
The top of his hair can reprisent a glowing halo or as it becomes more stained with blood from fighting, devil horns (this might be too edgy though and might be changed)
Grows numb as he gains LV, almost as though someone else is moving his body for him
Wish: Not made yet
Sadie -> Chara
The first fallen
A passing voice that sometimes lays on Iggy's ears
Will start seeing the murder route as a way to achieve her goal if it is taken
Wish: ???
Hunar -> Torial
Keeper of the ruins
Guides the fallen through the ruins (yes, even a 30 year old Iggy)
This Hunar is not real
Wish: N/A
Genzou -> sans
The judge, promised Hunar to keep the next fallen safe
He can see
He will judge Iggy's actions towards the end
He will fight at the end of a murder route, still dodging but without the warping around
Wish: I wish I could see Iggs again
Cecil -> Papyrus
Aspiring royal guard, trains under the royal guard captain
Plays the straight man to Genzou's jokes
Despite his attitude, he wants to see the best in everyone and bring that out
Wish: N/A
Orlam -> Undyne
Head of the royal guard
Basically in charge given the rulers are pretty absent
Has an army of rabbit guards at his beck and call
It's Orlam in wonderland, I don't think I need to get more into it
Very determined to get the wish at any cost
Dispises Genzou for reasons he doesn't understand
Wish: I wish I could make the rules for once
??? -> Alphys
I really got nothing for this right now
Might merge Mettatons' and Alphys' roles, Gidget is smart enough
Jerry -> Muffet
Leader of a splinter rabbit group trying to make a living
Jerry's rabbits replace the spiders of the underground
Wants to claim the wish to live a comforable life for himself and those under him
Wish: N/A
Gidget -> Mettaton
The most stunning star of the underground
Extremely outgoing
Has a ton of adoring fans
Plays along with [Insert Alphys replacement here] to get close to Iggy
Despite everything, finds it hard to feel truely happy
Wants to claim the wish to fix that emptyness
Wish: I wish I was the most beautiful person in the whole world
Bucks -> Asgore
The hermit queen
Outside of people taking freely given goods, rather hostile
The previous 7 fallen have died by her hand
Spends her time chopping wood and tending to her isolated area of the castle
Wood that is left over after being chopped is freely given away
Wonderland's exit sits past her area of the castle
Doesn't care for the wish, she holds 6 already, she wants to be left alone
Wish: I wish she was dead
Kiddy Kruse Flower -> Flowey
A strange flower that stalks Iggy, trys to take control at the end of things
Not a replacement for Asreal, Sadie was the royals' only child
Speaks in rhyme all the time
Not rooted to one place now
Appears to want to take something from Iggy that isn't his wish
Wish: N/A
Tomato head creature -> Monster Kid
A fan of the head of the Royal guard, wants to see him in action
Can't talk, tons of warbling
Won't actually eat your guts this time
Orlam will save anyone who obsesses over him this much
Wish: N/A
Status of the fallen's wishes
Sadie - Used after her death, wish is unknown
Fallen 2-7 - Held by Bucks
Iggy - Unused
I hope you enjoy reading throught this, it's been fun to write and has comepletely overtaken my thoughts for a full day so I had to get it out of my head.
If you have any ideas or suggestions, please send them, I'd love to hear people's ideas on this

Dunked on: a collection of thoughts reguarding sans
I like how sans just cheats. Specifically at the end of the genocide route. When you get there, youre expecting a fight, be it from asgore, sans, or whoever. When it finally starts, youre braces for it to begin, you know the rules of the game, youre prepared with your highest healing items
And then sans goes first. You arent expecting it, it hasnt been like that the entire game, and youre not even familliar with the mvoes hes using. You know how the blue soul works, assuning you played pacifist beforehand, but noones ever been able to physically move your soul. And then theres the gaster blasters, more moves you know nothing about. Everything flies at you so quickly, you almost instantly die. And the whole time youre confused as to why youre taking heaps of damage with what looks like poison chipping away at your health.
Your invcibility frames are gone, mentally youre thinking "thats not fair". And it isnt. Sans doesnt let you go first because you dont deserve to be fought fairly. Youre a mass murderer with too much unchecked power, noone in their right mind is going to want to fight you fairly. So sans cheats
Immediately after the first attack, you may fight, but by checking you find out how sans cheeses the game. "The weakest enemy, can only do 1 ATK". 1 ATK sure, he can only deal 1 hp of damage, but with the absence of your i frames, now replaced by the KR meter, 1 hp adds up. And it adds up fast.
Now maybe after checking him, you decide to try out your new weapon. But you cant. Sans knows you'll kill him in one hit, so he does something no other monster has until this point. He dodges. He dodges your attacks, breaking the rules of how the game is supposes to work. Monsters dont dodge, theyve never been able to. Sans doesnt care. This isnt a fair fight, and he never intended for it to be one. Everything he does is to get you to give up and stop playing, because that means you cant hurt anyone else. And playing a game thats unfair sure as hell wont want to make you play anymore.
Sans's attacks are unlike any other in the game. He plays dirty. Sometimes theres a pattern to be followed, sometimes there isnt, and you have to think on your feet in order to not get killed. His attacks dont give you any breathing room to speak of, you have to jump through tight spaces, inch your way between bones, its always at 100 and wont ever not be.
Then the turning point happens. Something stressed in undertale is that your goal as the player is to see what happens. You kill almost everyone just to see what sans will say, or to see how things play out. Its always you wanting to see whats next. So when sans presents you with the option to spare him, some might give into that desire, and click the button. This is tied for sans's biggest act of cheating. He puts you in a box, shoves it full of bones, and gives you nowhere to run.
Youve been dunked on. Sans says so himself. In an attempt to get you to stop once more, he says that if you really are friends, you wont bother coming back. Hes a sore winner, and he tells you to never boot up the game again because youre just that bad.
Now once you come back, and decide not to spare him, his attacks get harder. The screen blacks out, youre unprepared for what happens next, and the gaster blasters ramp up in intensity. And to make matters worse, he gets more blatant with his cheating. He begins attacking you during your turn, in the text box, in your menus, not enough to kill, but just enough to chip your health down to 1. Reminding you that this isnt a fair fight. It never was, and it wont get any easier.
The fight keeps getting harder, you only learn how his very first attack works now instead of when you needed to, and the quick attacks get quicker. All the while, sans appears to be getting more and more tired. So he issues one last attack before his so-called special attack one thats a combination of almost all of his attacks so far, and if you manage to survive all of that, he just grabs you and throttles you around the room like youre nothing. It doesnt kill you, but it does rub salt in the wound.
Then, after youve made it to the end, sans tells you what his final move is going to be. Nothing. Aboslutely nothing. This is the biggest act of cheating sans displays. Its as if you were playing chess, and the opponent means to win by never moving. Sans is going to keep having his turn forever. It doesnt matter how long you stay there, hes not going to give up. It never becomes your turn. Sans has won by initiating a stalemate.
At least thats how it is before you decide to play along.
The only way to beat a cheater is to cheat back. You do something youve never been able to before. That being having your turn during sans's you push the text box to the side, and then down, and press the attack button. Sans, still keeping up his cheating streak, decides to dodge again. But at this point you dont care. Mid sentance, you issue your first and final blow. Sans falls, bleeds, and realizes hes lost. Then, he simply gets up, and walks off screen. If he cant beat you or cheat the system, the least he can do is take away the satisfaction of seeing you die.
So yeah, sans cheats. He cheats a whole bunch. And i like that. Its such a frustrating fight, and i feel it was at least partially designed to be. Story-wise it also makes sense because why would anyone plal fairly against you, a murderer?
Im not sure how to end this off, so i'll just reiterate that i really like how sans cheats against you, and i hope hes drinking ketchup in undertale heaven.

So. Instead of writing things in order or actual scenes... I've just been writing clips of flirting/kissing that may or may not be used in my undertale Skeleton OC fics
so have some of those snippets. i guess I'll label them for quick understanding
General thoughts of Roman (trans Human turned Skeleton OC)
There were things Roman never thought to miss. Kissing - the press of someone's lips to his, warm breath mingling, tongues sliding against one another, sucking someone's bottom lip into his mouth...The warmth and smoothness of skin to skin contact.
The build up of heat in his body, that lighting rod line that centered in his pelvis and sent shock waves through his body whenever someone touched him just right. Tension that was almost but not quite pain that could snap taunt or ease before tightening once more... it was all a bunch of chemicals and body parts he didn't have anymore, and he wasn't about to ask if there were equivalents.
He wasn't.
he could explore his new body and see what, if anything, came of it but... he was in someone else's house, with strangers nearby. Who knows what they'd be able to hear or sense.
no, better not test things. besides his sex drive had never been that high without prompting he just... hadn't thought to miss it until now. What other things had he taken for granted that he would never again get to experience - in the same way or at all.
Roman chilling with Underswap Papyrus
Roman... couldnt help but gender things. He didn't mean to, didn't want to, but it was a hard habit to break. Simple things like clothes or gestures became landmines he was desperate to avoid least he give himself away.
So when he had the urge to kiss Papyrus' cheek in thanks he took a moment to stop and reboot himself - a moment too long.
"what? do I have something on my face?" Papyrus says in an amused tone, and Roman feels himself flush as he had been caught staring.
Quickly he shakes his head but before he can blurt something out that would make the akward situation better - or worse - Papyrus leans in and says "See this is the part where you say ' no, but would you like to?' to see if you can get a kiss."
Roman drunk talking to Swapfell Papyrus (P: Papyrus R: Roman)
p: "yeah so sans has kinda been against romcoms since his life turned into one."
r: "While that's totally fair like what the fuck."
p: "messed up right?"
r: "i guess he dodged a bullet but Sans is a total catch why would she-"
p: "did you just call my brother a catch?"
r: "Hes employed - wildely successful at that. Hes a man in uniform and if you want rugged well he drives a beast of a pick up, works out everyday, and hes the leader of a troop of monster kid scouts. Plus its not like he isnt attractive."
p: "You think sans is good looking?"
r: "Why are you just repeating things ive said? You're both super hot, it was like the first thing i noticed about you guys."
p: "huh. okay maybe you have had too much to drink."
r: "what makes you say that? I feel great."
Roman talking to swap Sans
"i want us to do things that make you happy too." Sans says, not quite pouting.
Roman rolls his eyelights and bumps his shoulder against Sans'. "You make me happy." He says honestly.
"Aw, thats sweet." Sans says, his expression brighting a moment and then he glances sideways at him, tone going sly. "Wait, is that your way of saying you want to do me?"
Fell Papyrus kissing Roman (whos magic color is magenta)
If Roman had thought about it, he would have assumed Papyrus was the sort of guy to just go for the kiss - take what he wanted you know?
But this... His face close to Roman's as he bends down, his hands reaching for but not touching him, not yet, his voice low instead of loud, and soft with an almost purring quality to it as he says "I would very much like to kiss you Roman. May I?" Made so much more sense.
It was like everything clicked into place. Papyrus was the respectful one, even though he didn't seem like it on the surface.
Roman's mouth was dry as he stared up into those patiently waiting sockets. He swallows and hears his throat click and his face slowly fill with heat.
Not trusting himself to speak, he nods, once - but once is enough.
Papyrus is slow, gentle as he cups Roman's face with his hands. Hands that are softer than they had any right to be considering they were bone, and a warm comforting presence against his cheeks.
Bending down further, Papyrus closes the distance between them and though it is happening slowly, with plenty of time for him to pull away should he change his mind, it seems to happen too fast for Roman to even close his sockets.
Teeth meet teeth - but it isn't a clash of bone, its a malleable meeting. It feels strange but once again Papyrus shows patience, that up until this moment Roman didn't realize he had, and shows him what to do, teaching him how skeletons kiss.
When Papyrus pulls away he looks satisfied and hungry all at once, Roman doesn't know what he looks like but he feels hot - not just in his face but all over, like his magic is trying to burn him up from the inside. All he can think is to hope he isn't glowing pink the way he feels.
fell Sans being a butt after Roman just kissed his brother
Sans is waiting outside. Well maybe that was conceded. Sans probably wasn't waiting for him so much as already bumming around out on the balcony.
Still, it felt awkward and if it wasn't for his ridiculously contrary nature he'd go back inside. But he couldn't show weakness, couldn't let Sans know anything was wrong.
... Not that anything was wrong, exactly. Papyrus had just given him a lot to think about, and he'd rather be alone to do the thinking. But Sans was here and turning around would be avoiding him.
So he moved to sit on the edge of the small balcony, sticking his legs through the bars like he would any other time and tried not to let his head bang against the railing repetitively the way he wants it to.
blah blah blah. Sans says something offensive/ confrontational/ something so Roman gets up to leave.
Only Sans stands in his way.
"What." Roman says flatly, not in any mood for Sans' shit right now.
As if he didn't get the memo, Sans repeats cheerfully "What?"
So Roman sighs and trys to go around him, only for Sans to step back in his path blocking him once more.
"Sans I-" Roman starts with exasperation heavy in his tone only to be cut off by Sans - verbally this time.
"Got something on your face." Sans' shit eating grin is not to be trusted but its such a baffling statement that Roman actually pauses to lift a hand up to his face.
"What?" If anything Sans' grin grows wider.
"Here let me get that for ya." He says and then suddenly reaches out and snags Roman's collar, dragging him up agaisnt Sans' chest which he latches onto for stability.
Before confusion can be replaced by anger, Sans opens his mouth revealing a glowing red tongue - no practically a tentacle - that laps up Roman's teeth in a wet streak.
Roman jerks away and Sans lets him, letting him go just as suddenly as he had grabbed him.
"What the actual fuck?!?" Roman exclaims incredulously.
Sans licks his own teeth with the appendage before it slides back into his mouth. "I licked it so its mine."
thank you for coming to my lame shit posting

YOU SEE.
This is how you do a good character death and proper Martyrdom.
True, DBZ Abridged takes inspiration from the original DBZ, but like... It actually made 16's Sacrifice actually way more meaningful. And for an abridged series, it did this to a lot of characters. (It actually made Mr.Satan less relevant then how I remember and thank god for that.)
KC could have STILL been Fridged for Bloodmoon's development, and actually had his death mean something.
He could dodge everything Sans Undertale style to the point where he gets exhausted. And at the point of Bloodmoon's frustration he could kill him, and feel no satisfaction from it for once in his life.
Instead.... it sounded as if Bloodmoon fed homeless people for clout on tinder instead of genuinely caring about those people, considering he died so Bloodmoon could possibly kill more homeless people. (which is likely where he's been getting the gallons of blood from. Even when Lunar used him, Lunar said he could only kill homeless people.... Which we honestly the show brushes off too much. tbf Lunar most likely forgot... but Like... Earth has a whole crisis of Moon and Sun killing people... but Lunar lets Bloodmoon rampage on the homeless and gets off scott-free... I feel like something like that would upset Earth if she ever found out.... SAMS plz stop joking about the homeless. They're really not funny and fit more in with familyguy or southpark then a youtube show for "all ages" technically. I know it's been toned down in recent years but it still annoys me a little. )
Anyway, Point is, feeding the homeless does jack squat when you just let a murderous idiot just go killing them freely as he wishes.
I don't doubt that cause KC has worked with homeless people, he has Probably Fought to defend them. Either from getting beat up themselves or having their temporary "homes" vandalized or their little materials stolen from them. Some people are nice, but not everyone is nice to the homeless.
But he really only had a life for two months, due to Moon's sacrifice, and easily threw away the life he lived for no reason without resistance.
I do accept that KC had to die. To become a stepping stone for Bloodmoon's arc....
What I don't accept is HOW he died.
cause it feels like Moon's sacrifice meant nothing, it feels like KC was just being nice for very surface level reasons and while that would be an interesting facet to him, (as Bojack Horseman taught me, sometimes behind the intention behind nice actions doesn't matter as long as people are helped at the end of the day...) I don't think that was what they were going for.
What KC's rolling over and dying attempting to be a martyr did for me in that episode and showed me:
KC got sick of life within the span of two months.
KC never cared about anyone, and isolated himself so he wouldn't need to take responsibility for Eclipse OR Bloodmoon. (remember, when Eclipse used star power, KC was around and doing nothing, despite him calling Eclipse his son at one point)
KC died to Bloodmoon, purely out of spite to prove a point to him.... While allowing Bloodmoon to kill more people.... Possibly people he cared about. Possibly the homeless. Possibly his tinder dates. We don't know...
KC COULD HAVE STILL DIED. HE HAD TO DIE.
But... He did not have to throw his life away like it was nothing.
He is a software. A code. A program. Moon didn't have to give him a life, but he did.
He decided he was done with it.
Loved no one.
Cared for no one.
And died to prove a point.
......
I really hope SAMS retcons this so he teleported away using star power and just said what he said to goat Bloodmoon, because as it stands...
KC was a waste of character potential, and they just undid his character potential in the span of less then 15 mins.
@ayyy-imma-ninja
Something else that bothers me about the latest Sun and Moon show episode.
Bloodmoon has killed countless homeless people and will continue to do so.
It's where he gets his supply of blood.
Killcode, by not fighting back, by not choosing to live, despite the scarifies people could make for him to have this life....
Killcode condemned the homeless people he cared about to death.
If he didn't want to live for himself anymore.
He didn't even live for the people he cared about either.

How do the fellswap gold, undertale and underfell boys annoy their brothers? Every sibling has their petty moments ;)
SO
I went a little too far with this-
How Do They Annoy Each Other
Sans:
- Will go into Papyrus' room while he's there, looks around like he's some sort of inspector, only to push his brother down onto the bed (where he had placed a whoopee cushion prior) and book it, with his brother screaming in the background.
- Will mimic Papyrus in everything he does, all the way down to the way he speaks. He can do an insanely good impression of his brother but insteads just does the goofiest voice to annoy him instead.
- Will absolutely noogie him on the head, despite the height difference. Those shortcuts aren't left to be used for going to different places alone-
- You know that one meme, where the girl is followed by her bro playing the trumpet? That's exactly what Sans does to Papyrus whenever he hears Paps talking about him being lazy as ✨ 💕 payback 💕✨
- Also will low-key moves the objects when Papyrus is busy, but it's so subtle that Papyrus doesn't realize it until he's reaching for the marinara sauce for the sixth time in a row and he can hear Sans wheezing from the next room.
Papyrus:
- Likes to start random snowball fights and never fails to hit Sans straight in the face with one everytime. Little dude could be chilling at his sentry station and the last thing he'll hear is a distant "INCOMING" and WHACK his vision is clouded with snow.
- When Sans is being an ass, Papyrus plays the baby brother card. And by that, he will pull out the puppy eyes to have Sans do his bidding and Sans is annoyed that it works Every. Time.
- And of course, with only Sans raising him for most of his life, Papyrus is exposed to many embarrassing moments. And boy, does he like to recite the time Sans tried to goof around with some snowballs and got them stuck in his sockets because they were parts of the snowman word for word.
- Will deliberately write the most absurd stories and forces Sans to read it every time for him because Sans is his number one supporter, right? He knows what he's doing, and what's a good way to show brotherly love than to subject them to some story that doesn't even act like a story, more like an inner monologue of Papyrus and sans is concerned-
- Along with that, he also will make Sans his personal guinea pig for when he wants to try cooking something new. And oh boy, did he enjoy watching Sans eat up his ketchup and snow sundae and watch as his beloved older brother goes through the five stages of grief before telling Paps that he loves it.
Red:
- Any snarky comment that Edge has is instantly retaliated by Red. He can and will mess with his brother and make him even more annoyed when he wins the battle of wits that day.
- He's a bit of a bully. And by that, being a bully means he has absolutely no qualms about mimicking his brother when he gets on his nerves. Think of that one Spongebob meme and replace it with Red, it's Edge's worst nightmare because Red. Won't. Stop.
- He also likes to find the most cursed and obscure memes and send it to Edge with little to no explanation. You can imagine how great his annoyance was being called "Dababy" by Red for two weeks straight and being sent surprise messages that, upon opening it is that stupid, starsforsaken image!
- Though, they do have.... Brotherly wrestling to get all that anger out of their system. And when this happens, Red likes to do a wet willy and boy, he always sticks a mean one into Edges ear every damn time. Edge does try to prepare for this when they fight, but that bastard seems to have his ways. F in the chat for Edge-
- Red also likes to do that thing where, on occasion, he just flips off Edge for no reason at all with a "ya stink". Cue one angry skeleton and one that can teleport who, upon dodging everytime, says "Ya stanky ass" and proceeds to piss Edge off even more.
Edge:
- While he won't do this in public for obvious reasons, he will pick up Red and make fun of him for his height when man's just minding his own short business- it works everytime-
- Also has a huge amount of prime blackmail material just to bully Red into silence when he's being an ass. Just a casual mention of peeps (yes, the candy thing) and Red goes silent with an angry glare.
- While he doesn't pull dirty tricks like Red does, Edge will tug on the shorter monsters clothes if he was being rather annoying that day. It is the norm for them to roughhouse often so don't be surprised when one of them suddenly shoves the other and snickers loudly to rub it in their faces.
- Also has a tendency to noogie Red just for the sake of it.... Well, somewhat. He's gotten past the days of throwing monsters and people alike out the window. Usually, the noogies are what would prompt the wrestling matches cause Red can't let this slide by-
- Also, this is only when he's feeling ✨extra annoying ✨, he will send one of the hounds to hang out with Red. Hanging out is used very lightly when he throws a bone at the conveniently placed sentry station, almost always getting it into Reds clothes. Ah yes, watching the look of terror on his face as the massive hound rushes through the snow is delectable.
Wine:
- Can and will cry whenever Coffee is about to do something. He's usually Coffees biggest hypeman but stars, he can't help but embarrass his sweet baby brother as well and knows full well that the younger skeleton will take revenge on him-
- That one meme with the Kardashians and the mom going "You're doing great, sweetie"? That's Wine to a T, and he will do this sometimes ironically even when Coffee is eating or doing something with the other skeletons just to tease him and the rest of them.
- Oh, and if Coffee has a fit and talks back? Cue the dramatics as Wine falls to the ground, sobbing like he was in a telenovela and his rent was due tomorrow so he's doing his best. Holds a hand up to the sky, pulls it back and let's out a small, broken sigh. This is a weekly occurrence--
- If Coffee was being a butt that day, Wine would also bring out the baby pictures, saying that he could not believe this young skeleton would do him "so dirty" like this, and the way he says it makes Coffee cringe so bad like no pls stop-
- On top of that, he really, really likes misusing current slangs. If he hears Coffee using any of them within a five mile radius, you bet he's misusing the shit out of it for the next week or so just to mess with him.
Coffee:
- If Wine was being a bit too... Enthusiastic that day, Coffee is definitely hiding some of Wines things. And the man is incredibly good at stashing away things.
- Since he's the baby of the house, Wine, in a way, is not his only older brother anymore. And Coffee knows this irks Wine more than he'd like to admit. And it especially gets him when Coffee goes to Red for some brotherly bonding.
- If Wine or really, any of the more affectionate skeletons go in for a hug, they're gonna be greeted with a gross raspberry and trust me, they hate it so much-
- He also likes to trolls his brother with the ever sophisticated "jebaited". It occurs at random moments when Wine gets a text, thinking Coffee is going to be nice to him only to see that, cue a very frustrated screech.
- If Wine had been a little overbearing, Coffee will come home and head for his brothers bed first, sparing nothing, not even the pillows as he rolls around in them. This is because Wine is a bit of a neat freak and doesn't like it when people lay in his bed before changing their clothes. Oh, Coffee is already in glee at just hearing the tired sigh in his brothers voice.

Is he going to have a bad time?
Tumblr media
The Death Battle Cast a few weeks ago featured Sans the Skeleton against Ghost Rider. And while Ghost Rider has won that fight, it does bring up a good point: just how well Sans can be in a Death Battle? Can the final battle of the Genocide Route be a good match in Death Battle’s meta? We’ll see in a bit, but first let’s talk about fight animation.
Tumblr media
Sans in an animated fight can be done very well. From hand drawn in Sans Vs Jevil by Animated Zorox to using the original game sprites like in Quote Vs Hiryo 2, there is a lot of opportunity to use Sans in a great animated fight. I just hope they don’t use the big headed sprites a lot of animators tend to use for some reason. I did make a Sans sprite sheet to hopefully help change the idea of which sprites to be used.
Tumblr media
Now for Sans’ abilities. He can manipulate a SOUL’s Gravity, making them forced to jump on the ground, ceiling or wall. He can summon bones to attack you in varying angles, even the battle menu. He can summon a lot of Gaster Blasters that fire lasers. And his most dangerous ability is his Karmic Retribution. Technically it's called Karma but Karmic Retribution sounds better. It’s basically a poison-like attack that changes a big chunk of your health into pink that gradually reduces (faster if you’re constantly hit).
Tumblr media
So going good for Sans is Monsters tend to attack a SOUL directly. So your typical durability feats won’t work. So while Frieza can likely survive a universe exploding, he can in theory be taken down just as easily as Genocide Frisk can. Of course, it’s a two way street for Monsters and honestly worse.
Because they are made of magic, monsters’ bodies are attuned to their SOUL. If a monster doesn’t want to fight, its defenses will weaken. And the crueler the intentions of our enemies, the more their attacks will hurt us. Therefore, if a being with a powerful SOUL struck with the desire to kill...
For Chara to be as dangerous as he is, he will need to kill at least 94 monsters. This also includes Boss Monsters like Papyrus and Undyne. And a human SOUL is as powerful as all the Monsters in the Underground put together. So in theory, the LV and EXP of people like the Joker or Frieza would make Genocide Frisk look like Pacifist Frisk in comparison. Maybe even to the point that Karma won’t affect them.
Tumblr media
But Sans can dodge, right? Well, he can but only 22 times at least. This is because he is putting everything he got into attacking you. This is why he eventually gets tired. Even if we allow him to automatically dodge, overtime he will tire himself out and get hit. And this doesn’t include something he never had to face before: Area of Effect. If they got a Chaos Blast like move, the chances of dodging that would be slim unless he can teleport.
Tumblr media
And then there’s the Ultimate Attack, doing nothing. He would wait for the end of time before ending his turn, preventing the Human from attacking. Even ignoring gameplay reasons why this wouldn’t translate to a Death Battle, it still failed as Frisk was able to attack and kill Sans. That final shot shows that outside of game mechanics, he can’t fight forever. So if someone is strong enough, fast enough, or just evil enough, it’s only a matter of time before Sans bites the dust.
Tumblr media
Undertale is a difficult thing to bring up in a Versus Battle. Depending on your interpretation, Sans could be a threat to someone like Bill Cipher or powerless to face the Joker. And for me, I would be on the latter side of the coin. But who knows what the research would decide if he ever enters Death Battle.

Dreamtale_Not_Found Teaser
Notes
Nobody asked for this, including me. I never intended to participate in Aftermare Week (and I'm a bit late as it is). Furthermore, I never could figure this ship out at all; for me, it just didn't work. Until suddenly, it did. All thanks to this event. Not sure if I'd expand this idea, but have this teaser nonetheless.
。。。
Do you?..
"Well, that's new," Nightmare says out loud, unsure how to react.
To be fair, it's always something new unless he concentrates on a certain AU. There are too many of them, so it's only natural they come and go.
He's been through this so many times, yet it's as awe-inspiring and breathtaking as ever. He still remembers the first time. He couldn't put up with his life anymore, and he tried to change it. Only... He hesitated a mere second before making contact with the closest golden apple. After all, he never touched it.
There's no proof, but it felt like the whole world shifted, settling in a state completely different from before.
That night, for the first time in his life, Nightmare had a dream. It wasn't a good dream; quite the opposite actually. He remembered walking in a cold, empty world filled with what he thought was snow. Of course, it was monster dust. He learned that shortly after, right as he stumbled into a human murdering an armless lizard-like monster. The air was thick not only with dust but also with grief, horror, and pain. Nightmare's never felt so much negativity in one place.
As time passed, his lucid dreams have become more and more frequent. He explored a world he was dreaming about, invisible, untouchable. The worlds were different every time, each of them unique in its own way, and he craved to learn and see as much as possible in what little time he had. Need to hurry made him upset at first, but then excitement came, the thrill of a race against time, a gamble of what he discovers and what misses, what chooses and what discards.
He was so vulnerable back then, no wonder he'd fallen into a trap of escapism, sleeping more and more every day. Dream was so worried, and Nightmare... Nightmare couldn't care less. He just wanted to get out of the world where everybody neither loved nor accepted him. Or, well, he believed so. What a fatal fallacy that was.
Now, his life is balanced and bearable, yet, the dreams stay a welcome distraction and adventure that Nightmare awaits with eager anticipation. They never cease to surprise.
Like this time. He got thrown into so many different places, but this one is something else. There doesn't seem to be anything but a tiny lawn with two words above, and then, there's only endless darkness. "Continue" and "Reset", the words say. Nightmare is vaguely aware of the concept after visiting so many universes, but... Is this really what it looks like? Even if so, what is he doing here? His dreams always led him to monsters or humans, but this place is utterly empty.
Did something break? Was he abusing his power to travel between the worlds? Is this his punishment? Will he stay here forever? What about Dream? He's strong, he'd live on even if Nightmare never woke up or disappeared for good, but Nightmare doesn't want to bring that on his brother!
"Anybody here?" Nightmare tries, despite the anxiety building in his whole being, verging on panic. It's all for nothing, of course, he's invisible, untouchable, and inaudible during his dreams, he's never present enough in another world to interact with it. But doing something — anything at all — is better than giving in to panic.
Then, suddenly, a voice comes from the darkness, astounded yet wary, "the heck?!"
Nightmare shrieks, taking a step back and instantly going on the defensive. Ready to cover himself or dodge.
"who's there?"
Now that all Nightmare's senses are heightened by fear, he can actually see where the voice comes from. A distant figure coming his way in fast, big steps, running almost.
Wait...
"Do you... hear me?" he asks, not quite sure if he expects an answer or a lack of it.
"duh. see ya, too."
Okay. Alright. They're not attacking, only coming closer. No reason to relax yet, but perhaps he should show them he's not a threat. Ever so slowly, Nightmare raises both hands. For some reason, that earns him a... chuckle?
He doesn't even see there are two of them at first. The only thing he can focus on is those weird white things covering their heads. He's never seen anything like this before. What is this? Are they okay?
Then, he remembers what types of worlds he has access to.
Then, he sees a huge bloody slash across the creature's chest.
Everything falls into place.
They're really, really not okay.
Only then, he finally realises there isn't only one creature before him. A monster wearing his face — or, well, about a half of it, the other being covered by this strange white thing, — a Sans of this universe, if it even is a universe, it seems; and a kid sitting on his shoulders, covered by the whiteness as well.
"did we startle you?" Uncertain, Nightmare nods, his gaze glued to the blood dripping from the slash. It's rude to stare, he might make this Sans mad, but just can't get himself to look anywhere else. It doesn't help that there's nothing to look at. Definitely nothing as vibrant, not even the grass behind their back. No, Nightmare can't look away even if it'd be the death of him.
"so? mind telling me who you are? or how you entered this place, maybe? dunno, don't care, you choose what comes first."
The stranger's tone is nonchalant, but Nightmare can sense other's emotions, so there's no way that's fooling him. They're confused and distressed. And in so much pain that never ends.
"I'm dreaming," Nightmare falters. It suddenly hits him that he's actually talking to somebody from another world. One of those he's never present enough in. What changed? Could it be this place that affects him? If so, wouldn't that be a trap, a prison with no way out?..
Stars, please, anything but that. He doesn't want to leave his brother.
The stranger's only socket widens in surprise. He looks as taken aback as Nightmare feels, truly.
"but you're not..." he mutters, clearly talking to himself. Shakes his head abruptly, earning a huff from the child on his shoulders. "sorry, kiddo, didn't think that through. you good?" They nod. "then, do me a favour and go play with the blasters, 'kay?" He lifts them with magic Nightmare is all too familiar with and summons the blasters, although smaller than Nightmare's accustomed to. The child pouts but goes away without a word, settling on a lawn.
"okay, let's start over. first, put your hands down, that looks uncomfortable." Says someone with a seemingly eternally bleeding wound, Nightmare thinks but does as asked. It's not like he's in any position to choose. "seems you're more afraid of me than i'm of you if your shaking's anything to go by. relax, kid, i'm not gonna hurt ya if you're not gonna hurt me."
He's not a kid. Not anymore. He really is shaking, though. Haven't even noticed. But that's not surprising at all, he still doesn't know what to expect.
"I'm not a kid," Nightmare says before he can stop himself. The stranger just shrugs, "then give me something to call you, why don't ya?"
That's... actually reasonable. His name never came up.
"Nightmare," the stranger gives him a quizzical look, so he clarifies. "That's my name. Nightmare."
"wow. somebody has a dark sense of humour or something?" Nightmare's not sure how to respond, but he doesn't get the chance anyway. "no, sorry, that's kinda hypocritical of me. name's geno."
As in genocide?
Nightmare doesn't ask that. Maybe he just heard that word too much during his travels.
"so, nightmare. how did you get here?"

I tried to explain as much as possible in this little teaser, but if you have any questions, ask away. Although some things might be spoilers, and I'm planning to do something with this idea. If not a full story, perhaps a collection of shorter ones would suffice. It's not set in stone yet.
Anyway, thanks for reading, and take care 🌻

Words: 1,517
Reader & UT Sans & UT Paps & Error & Ink & Gaster
Notes:
This came to me as I was cleaning. Please note that I am not very familiar with Error and Ink. I just see pretty designs and write. I haven't abandoned my other reader inserts, but the big wheel in my brain has been landing on 'oneshot' for days. I also post on mobile so I can't chop this.
"Oh fuck. Am I dead? I knew I shouldn't have had that pasta!" Everything that surrounds you is white. "Holy shit? Did I make it to heaven? Unexpected."
"Ahem."
You scream and jerk, managing to scuttle back where you rest on the...floor? It's hard to tell in all this one shade of white. Then you look up. "Oh my fucking god, I am in heaven!" you yell before slapping yourself on the mouth. A skeleton that looks a lot like Ink- from that one AU on Tumblr- looks at you like you've grown a second head.
"Right, okay, back you go," he says, bringing his paintbrush down as if to strike you.
"What the fuck?" you roll out of the way. "Uh, watch where you point that thing!" He sighs and twirls it in this direction.
"Don't make this difficult."
You decide that you would prefer to, not liking the idea of the easy route. Hitting your elbow on the floor hurt. Isn't heaven supposed to be fun and painless? You can feel your heart thumping from adrenaline, too. Regardless of whether or not you're having a fever dream, you are very alive.
Ink attempts to slather or catch you in what looks like his namesake. You scramble and dodge, but the routine is tiring you out quickly. Then, right as you're cornered (in an invisible corner, of fucking course,) a hole opens.
"Dude, you left your- Uh." Error looks between you and Ink, clearly not understanding. "Scarf..."
Ink swings his paintbrush (Broom? Roomie? You forgot) down to rest at his side. "Oh, thanks! I didn't even notice. Just lay it somewhere. Gotta fix this first." You avoid another splatter, feeling like you're on the other end of mickey in that one Wii game with the paintbrush.
"Why's it so empty?" Error asks, glancing around.
"Just did a mass wipe. Decided a fresh canvas was in order."
"Oh. Okay."
You groan, dodging another splatter. "Why the fuck am I even in the doodle sphere?!"
Ink frowns. Error whistles, low and long. "Wow, you accidentally drug a creator here?"
"Shut up." Ink shoots again but misses widely.
Error snickers. "Let me handle this, squid." You watch his hands raise and remember what Error does for a living.
"Fuck no!" You scream, flailing and losing your balance. One minute, you're standing in a white room, and the next, you're nowhere.
It feels like you're falling for eternity. Darkness swims in your vision, making your brain try to fill in the gaps by tricking you with false images. If you scream, you sure can't hear it. Numbness creeps in.
A white oval emerges. Then it stays. Its not a false image? A form takes shape as if your eyes had to adjust. Half circle eyes, two cracks, and a thin smile. The body of spilled ink.
"Gaster." He makes a series of strange noises. Wingdings? "I'm sorry, I can't understand. I- I'm in the void, aren't I?" He nods, and two ghostly hands form before your very eyes. He holds them out to you. "Do you know the way out of here?" Another nod. You take his hands. His figure appears as if it's dissolving, then when you look down, you look the same, like a ghost. The hot iron of fear strikes you. "Wai-"
Your sound is cut out. Once again, for the umpteenth time today, your mind blanks out. An uncomfortable trend.
The first thing you register is cold. It's on your back, arms, head, everywhere. The next is something wet. You groan and shift. Why can't you be left to sleep in peace? WAIT A FUCKING MINUTE. You sit up quickly, disturbing the snow that had been blanketing you before. Something white and fluffy yelps. Your vision clears. Oh! It's a dog.
"Hey there, little guy. Thanks for the wake-up call." The dog barks cutely. You pet it, encouraged by the furious wagging of its tail.
A figure emerges in the distance, but it's hard to see through the snowfall. Whoever they are, they must be tall. Maybe someone on a rescue team? That'd explain the dog. You must have been drugged or passed out somewhere. It couldn't have been a long time since you're still alive in this weather. All your limbs have circulation, and you can't smell rotting flesh.
"DOG! UGH, I KNEW THE RED LEASH WAS SUPERIOR!" An odd sentence for someone on a rescue team, but you let it slide. Any help is better than no help. "OH. A HUMAN." Well, what else would you be? A bear?
"Hello? Do you know where this is? I think I hit my head or something." That would explain the hallucination.
"OH NO! A HURT HUMAN!"
It's like your heart stops and speeds up all at once. Papyrus is tall and a little foreboding at this angle. His scarf flaps in the wind that is currently picking up. He makes quick work of helping you up. The dog stays close by, tail wagging furiously.
"THIS IS NO SORT OF WEATHER FOR A HURT HUMAN! I'LL TAKE YOU HOME AND FEED YOU. MY SPAGHETTI IS WORLD-CLASS."
There's no other option than to agree. If this is a hallucination, you won't fight it. Maybe you're lucid dreaming? Intense focus does nothing to change your situation. Not a lucid dream, then. Papyrus carries you and the dog through the storm, who happily snuggles close to you. At least Papyrus blocks the wind blowing towards the two of you. He chatters the entire way to his house. Instead of the familiar house you were expecting, he brings you to a different one. It's a large log cabin with no porch. It looks like they bought more string lights.
"REST HERE, AND I'LL MAKE YOU SOME WARM FOOD." Papyrus sets you down on a kitchen chair, swiping a quilt and tossing it over you. The dog (presumably annoying dog) settles on your lap as if he owns it. You say nothing. Papyrus returns with a plate of steaming spaghetti and water. "I MUST APOLOGIZE. THE FOOD IS REHEATED SINCE I DIDN'T EXPECT YOU. PLEASE DO NOT MAKE IT A HABIT TO NAP IN SNOW POFFS." The spaghetti is great.
"Thank you, this is great. Uhm, weird question, but where are we?"
"MY HOUSE, OF COURSE!" he replies with a warm smile.
"I think they meant geographic location, paps."
And as if Tumblr hadn't already whooped your ass, here arrives Sans Undertale. Where's a dramatic cue of Megalovania à la trumpet when you need it? Honestly, the very last skeleton you wanted to see. It's like your Sans phase is coming to haunt you. Maybe today is just 'the attack of 2010's fandom.' The switch port could not have possibly done less to prepare you for this.
"Uhm, hi," you say. Sans plops himself down across from you at the kitchen table.
"hey. what's up?"
You make an awkward face. "I have no idea where I'm at or how I got here."
Sans takes it all in stride, pulling up your location on google maps and letting you take it all in. It's a country you've never heard of in your life. You rub your hands over your face and feel like crying. Papyrus, out of the goodness of his heart, offers you their couch for the night.
"hey, paps, why don't you get the human some bed stuff?"
"GASP. YOU'RE RIGHT, BROTHER." Aaaaand Papyrus is gone, taking the stairs two at a time.
"so, I couldn't help but notice you had a lot on your mind. penny for your thoughts?" He holds up said coinage, and it earns him a chuckle from you. Sans laughs himself and sets it on the coffee table.
"I promise I'm not insane, but I'm not from here, and I have no memory of this country. At all." Sans' expression betrays nothing. He closes an eye socket.
"eeh, figured that was the case." He sees your startled expression and shrugs. "I'm good at reading people. what do ya remember?" You close your eyes. The memories roll through, starting with a field of white.
"Black. A lot of it. Something...white?" You gasp, and the name flies between your lips before you can stop it. "Gaster."
Sans jerks, and your eyes fly open. He stares at you like he's seen a ghost. Sweat rolls down his skull. "how-" You can feel the frustration from your day boil over, forming tears that roll down your cheeks in thick globs. You sob into your hands, trying to hide it.
"there there," Sans says, patting you on the back. You finish crying quicker than you expected.
"Sorry. It's been a day." Sans nods and drops his hand. It lays limply at his side. "Guess I gotta fess up now. There's no easy way to say this, but I think you of anyone in this universe would understand." Sans watches with bated breath, apprehension bleeding through his sole eye light.
"I'm not from this universe."
"sheesh. and here I was thinking you were a mage or something. what a relief."

Day 7: Mistake
Yellow everyone! Day 7 of ErrorDream Week, hosted by @errorxdream, here we go! Are you ready to have your hearts broken? Good. I’m ready to feast on your anguish.
ALSO! Yes, all the prompts for this week are connected in one big story. Soooo…if you missed it, you might want to read Day 6 to understand everything in this one!
Fandom: Undertale, but specifically Dreamtale, Errortale, Inktale and Underswap
Characters: Dream, Nightmare (Who belong to Joku), Error (Who belongs to CQ), Ink (Who belongs to Comyet), Core Frisk (Who belongs to ???, I don’t know) and Blue (Who belongs to P0pcornPr1nce)
Pairings: ErrorDream/Insomnia
Warnings: Major Character Death, and I think that’s it. Let me know!
Word Count: 2432
~oOo~
It ended with death.
Maybe it was the act of someone who was blinded with rage. Maybe it was a misunderstanding. Maybe the person learned what they did was wrong and so continued for the rest of their life hoping that the people they killed would forgive them. Maybe the person was being controlled and did it against their will.
Error and Dream didn't know.
They never will know, either.
After all, it ended with death.
That is what Dream would say. That is what Error would say.
That is what Blue will say. That is what Nightmare will say.
That is what everyone in the Multiverse will say.
~oOo~
Ink stared at the numerous islands around him, expression blank.
Dream and Error were soulmates.
They were...together. Lovers.
Blue had known that before he did.
He had a suspicion that Nightmare had as well.
Ink was...confused.
That was the closest he could place. He knew that he shouldn't mind it all that much. In fact, he should be happy for his friend, right? Even if it was his enemy he was with...but he felt nothing. Normally, that wouldn't matter—he was soulless, after all; it was normal. But it bothered him, this time. He didn't understand why.
His hands twitched.
He had an itch in him, but it wasn't something he could scratch. It felt like he had to do something. Something...important. Or wrong? One of the two. He didn't know why, though. Ink was a good guy, right? So, why did he have the itch to do something wrong.
Unless...it wasn't wrong and people just thought it was?
That...that could make sense, right?
...
His itch had to do with Dream and Error, he just knew it. Something about putting an end to something. Oh! He perked up. Maybe the itch had to do with stopping Error for good? It would make sense.
But the problem came with Dream.
He didn't really understand it, but people weren't exactly willing to let their soulmate die.
...
He'd give Dream a chance, then. He'd talk to him, try to make him understand.
And if he didn't, then...
There might be two deaths he'd have to make.
~oOo~
Dream looked up as Error entered the Anti-Void, Blue trailing behind him. He blinked and frowned. The swap sans had a furrowed brow, like he was thinking over something that confused him. His gaze travelled over to his soulmate, frown deepening. Error looked a bit...annoyed, if angry.
Why?
Dream opened his mouth to ask just that when Error beat him to it, answering it without hearing it. "Your stupid friend here accidentally spilled everything to your other, more stupid friend." Error huffed and flopped onto the beanbag chair, crossing his arms.
Dream blinked. "Oh." He didn't know why he couldn't bring himself to be more...happy, but something in him felt uneasy at the knowledge that Ink now knew. He fidgeted with his hands.
"Yeah." Error said back, seemingly understanding.
Silence fell for a minute.
"I...I'm sorry," Blue started and Dream looked over. He was playing with his bandana, staring at the floor. "I thought that Ink would understand. I didn't realize it until halfway into telling him, but Ink never said a word, only stared with..." He frowned, struggling for the right words. "...hungry eyes? Like he needed to know...everything." He slumped. "I should've just stayed quiet..."
Dream frowned and stood up, walking over to Blue. He hesitated slightly before reaching out. He pulled his friend into a hug, Blue immediately returning it. "Hey," The guardian soothed, rubbing the others back, "don't blame yourself. It's not your fault." He pulled back and smiled at Blue, wiping away some stray tears off of the other's face.
"Okay." Blue laughed weakly before tilting his head, curiously. "What are you going to do now?"
"I..." Dream faltered, looking down. He hadn't thought about it before, though, in hindsight, he probably should've.
Luckily, Error came to his rescue. "We could go to Nightmare's?" He offered, leaning forward. "He would be happy to help."
Dream blinked, thought it over and smiled at Error warmly. "Yeah, he would." He turned back to Blue. "We'll go to Nightmare's, then." Dream paused before sighing. "Oh, but I have things back at the house that I need to get..."
Blue perked up. "Oh, I could—"
Error spoke over him. "I'll go with you, just in case, then." He paused. "After I call Nightmare, to let him know what happened." He turned to Blue. "You should go back to Underswap—we'll meet you there."
Blue looked conflicted for a minute before nodding. "Okay." Error opened a portal for him and Blue hesitated, glancing back at Dream, before he left. The portal closed and a new one opened, Error walking through, leaving Dream all alone now.
Dream frowned, holding a hand to his chest.
Why did he have a feeling something bad was about to happen?
~oOo~
They entered the Doodlesphere, right next to the house. Dream looked around at all of the islands, a sense of nostalgia filling him. He would miss this place, all of its pretty views. Error squeezed his hand and he looked back, smiling.
Error looked at him with concern. "You okay?"
Dream shook his head and forced a laugh, making Error frown even more. "I'm fine. I promise."
Error didn't look like he believed him, but nodded anyway. "If you're sure..." Dream smiled and quickly kissed Error.
"I'm sure," he whispered as he pulled away, turning to the house, where Ink stood watching.
He stopped and felt Error growl, pulling him behind the other. Dream looked past Error at Ink, who stared at them with a blank expression on his face. By instinct, Dream looked down at the vials, but they all looked like they had been drunken out of. So, why did Ink appear like he didn't care about anything?
Ink locked gazes with Error. "Huh," He started, voice hollow, another thing to add to Dream's confusion. "I didn't know you knew the way here." His gaze flicked down to Dream before going back to Error.
Error growled, tense, putting on an angry front. Dream knew that he was nervous underneath, possibly even afraid, not for himself, but for Dream. It was the opposite with Dream. "Yeah, well, shut up. It doesn't matter."
"Okay." Ink nodded, confusing both Dream and Error. Ink's gaze snapped and locked with Dream's, who froze. "Can you do me a favour, Dream?"
Dream swallowed. "What?"
Ink tilted his head. "Can you step away from Error so that I can kill him?"
Dream froze, his eyes widened. Error also froze, glitching franticly, on the verge of a crash.
Dream held his hand to his mouth. He felt...wrong. Dizzy. Something twisted at his heart, making him sick. To think Ink had...what was wrong with his friend? Asking him to step aside so he can kill his soulmate? How could he be so...heartless? He didn't know anything, but he so desperately wanted to. He wanted to know why Ink thought this way, why he felt he had to...he wanted to try and help him.
But...he doubted Ink would let him.
"Well?" Ink said, narrowing his eyes and stepping forward.
Error moved the two of them back.
Dream shook his head. "No!" He let out, voice shrill and almost a shriek. It was packed full of confusion and fear. "No, never! Why...w-why would you think I would...?" Dream trailed off; voice thick with tears.
Ink stared. He sighed.
"Fine." He said. "Fine," He repeated, reaching for the red vial in his sash. He grabbed it and brought it up to his mouth. He paused. "then I'm sorry, but I have to do this."
With that, Ink downed the vial, the empty glass shattering on the ground as it fell.
~oOo~
Blue exhaled slowly as he stood there in front of the ruins, waiting. He looked up as snow fell upon him, cooling him and keeping him grounded.
He hadn't meant to make Ink angry, to expose Error and Dream and put them in danger. Ink was their friends, so he had thought that he would be accepting and even happy about Dream's relationship. Now he sees he was a bit wrong.
Maybe Stretch was right. Maybe he was stupidly naïve.
He closed his eyes. He was worried about them. Blue just hoped that they got here soon.
And safe.
(He should've gone instead—)
...
He had a bad feeling.
~oOo~
Error stumbled as he struggled back to his feet. Dream grabbed him and pressed as much healing magic into the other as he could, but his hands shook and he was exhausted. His magic flickered out after five seconds, and Dream stumbled, making it Error's turn to catch him.
Error was concerned, his eyes said it all. Dream shook his head to clear it of any dizziness or buzzing and tried to communicate without words that everything was fine. It seemed to work, but Error didn't seem to believe him.
Which was fair.
They were pretty injured. His bow had been broken a while ago, so he couldn't fight anymore, only dodge and try to be support. Error was running low on energy as well. Ink, on the other hand, seemed to be fairing perfectly. The creator didn't seem tired at all. It did not bode well for the two of them, who he was trying to kill.
Speaking of, Ink landed a few meters away from them, preparing another attack.
"Ink, please!" Dream had to try. Even if he didn't succeed, he had to try. He couldn't let Ink just kill him and Error, now could he? "You don't have to do this!"
Ink said nothing.
"He's right, squid!" Error called, standing up straight, holding his arm. "We can all calm down and talk about this. Peacefully."
A beat passed.
"You made your choice already." Ink said, continuing to prepare his attack: a plethora of Gaster Blasters. "Ink narrowed his eyes into a glare. "Now you have to live with it." He paused. "Or, I suppose, die for it." He attacked.
~oOo~
Nightmare entered Underswap, looked around. His brother and his friend weren't there yet. He frowned. They were late. His gaze snapped over to the only other person waiting with him: Blue, the little swap sans he had never cared to look closely at before.
"Error and Dream aren't here yet?" He asked, even if he knew the answer.
Blue blinked at him before shaking his head. "No," He frowned and said what Nightmare thought as well, "They're late." His gaze drifted to the door of the ruins. "I'm worried."
Nightmare hummed. "I have to go check on them." He had a bad feeling, a sinking feeling in his chest that was expanding ever so slowly with each passing minute.
Blue nodded. "I'll call Core. They can get you to the Doodlesphere." With that, he fished his phone out of his pocket. Nightmare sighed and looked away, towards the trees.
The bad feeling grew.
~oOo~
"Dream!" Error called, pushing himself up and catching the guardian as he fell, a hole in his side where the attack had pierced him straight through. They fell to their knees together.
Dream coughed and tried to say something, nothing coming out. Tears rushed to Error's eyes, spilling over as he glitched frantically. No, no, no. This couldn't be happening. He was the one who was supposed to die. Not Dream. Never Dream.
Ink stepped towards them and Error hissed, curling around Dream. He was tense. He couldn't attack, he knew that. He was tired. So, so tired.
Ink waved his brush and sharp bones appeared around and around the two of them.
They enclosed them.
No one could escape this.
Error sighed, accepting this. He pressed a kiss to Dream's forehead as Ink prepared to snap. "It's gonna be okay, I promise." He murmured do that only Dream could hear. He looked back up and gazed at Ink with all the hate he could muster.
Ink wasn't fazed. "Goodbye, old friends." He snapped and the bones started descending.
Error hugged Dream close, shielding him as much as he could, even though he could feel Dream start to dust already. At least he didn't need to see all on this.
"It's okay." He repeated as pain surrounded them.
Then...nothing.
~oOo~
Nightmare walked fast, hands clenched at his side, tense. Blue and Core were a pace or two behind him, struggling to keep up, but he couldn't bring himself to care. There was a sharp pain in his chest, one that almost made it hard to breathe.
He felt that something was wrong. That something had gone wrong.
...
He hoped desperately that he was wrong, that everything was okay.
The Star Sanses house appeared and he breathed a silent sigh of relief. Good. They've arrived. Now, they could find Dream and Error and get out of here before Ink found them. They would be safe. Everything would be—
He froze.
Blue and Core stopped as suddenly as he did and he could hear them gasp. He was sure one of them started to cry—most likely Blue. As for him? He was...numb. He felt nothing, nor did he hear anything besides a dull ringing. It was like he had suddenly been plunged underwater and was sinking fast.
He couldn't tear his eyes away from the dust pile, black with a red tint and white with a golden glow mingled together, in front of him. A patched-up jacket and a golden crown sat upon it. Bones skewered it. Over it, through it and around it.
No one could survive something like that.
...
His chest hurt.
Memories flashed through his mind. Dream's smile. Error's laugh. Their ups and downs, how much they loved each other. Every moment he spent with them, good or bad, he relived at lightning speed. It made his chest tighten even more.
It...hurt.
Dimly, he heard Core speak up, their voice shaking but trying to stay calm. "Ink...what have you done...?"
...Ink?
...
Of course, he was behind this.
His chest hurt even more.
Nightmare didn't want to know why he had done this. It didn't matter anymore.
Nothing would bring his brother and best friend back.
Nothing...
A tear slipped down his cheek and his hands shook.
...Nothing...
In the fog of his mind, he saw Ink, who was standing on the other side of the dust pile, blink, his eyelights turning to two question marks. "What had to be done."
...Nothing.
...
It hurt.

❤Everything goes down in a blur as the wind whips past you. You hasn't mean to fall, you tripped even though there was nothing there to trip on. You try and reach out to catch something but everything went black.
❤You open your eyes and a circle of light so far up. You try and sit up back is stopped due to the excruciating pain coursing through your head. You look around and find yourself in a patch of golden buttercups within a large cave.
❤That's when you were greeted by a echo like voice. It was masculine and had curiosity as it questioned who you were and how you came to be down here.
❤You don't answer, simply thinking it was the ringing in your head from the fall. Instead you slowly stand and make your way to a large purple door hidden away in the shadows with strange encryptions on it.
❤The voice follows you with a annoyed tone. You still ignore it and push through the door and spot a line buttercup sitting in a patch of sun.
❤You jump when the flower starts speaking and explaining what a soul is. The voice was grumbling about something but fell silent as your red soul floated out in front of you.
❤You could swear that you felt someone touching your soul.
❤The flower continues speaking and says something about friendliness pellets. White petals floated towards you and you were tempted to touch the but the voice strongly demanded you didn't.
❤You don't know what compelled you to listen but you did. As you dodge the flower grows angry yet tries to keep its composure and sends another wave of petals. You dodge again and the flower snaps.
❤Its face contorts and it let's out a demonic laugh as you shrink back and bump into something that isnt there.
❤You cover your face in a attempt to hide from the pain about to happen but a gentle femal voice speaks. She says soothing words to calm your racing heart but you refuse to look out of her due to fear and the voice who says not to.
❤It helped you before so why wouldn't it help you now?
❤The lady asks you questions but you dont answer. She goes to touch you but you feel something push you out of the way of her touch.
❤She understands you dont want to be touched and simply asks you to follow. You wait for the voice to give you instructions before you make any decision. You feel something grab your hand and lead you behind the lady, saying they'll take care of everything if you listened.
❤You continue on with your head down until she leads you to a beaten up dummy. She asks you to make polite conversation with it but your guiding voice said otherwise.
❤You use a stick to give it a firm wacking causing the fabric to rip and for stuffing to fall out. The lady pauses and awkwardly clears her throat before walking on. Before you follow you were showered with praise by the voice that, oddly, made your heart warm.
❤The lady leaves you and the voice tells you to persist on, so you do. Along the way the voice directs you the harm the monsters along the way. You listen and make it on your way barely harmed.
❤At one point you even felt feathers brush against your skin in a protective and delicate way. It was comforting and ominous at the same time but you brush it off, continuing to hold the invisible hand that guided you.
❤You finally make it to a small house. Inside was the lady who you still refuse to look at. She leads you to a room and tells you to rest. You crawl into bed and a pair of arms wrap around you tightly.
❤When you wake up you find a piece of pie laying on the ground in front of you. You cautiously eat it and venture out the room to find the lady reading. The voice tells you to head into the kitchen and grab a knife. You do as your told.
❤You then sneak past the lady and down a set of stairs and make it to another large door before the lady comes and begs you to go back. When you refuse your soul shows its self and the battle begins.
❤The voice helps you dodge and tells you to wait before you attack.
❤ Finally the lady crumbles and starts to cry. She explains how she only wants to take care of you, how she lost her family and how she wanted to start a new and take care of you. She opens her arms for you and the voice tells you to hug her. You do and you feel your grip around the knife tighter as you're told to stab her. You do as you're told.
❤Her body turns to dust and you walk out the door to see the flower. The flower says something about her death and disappeares with a evil laugh.
❤No matter, your invisible hand leads you out the door and through the chilling winter forrest. You barely noticed the branch cracking in half with blue ash falling around it.
❤You almost didn't notice the person standing in front of you. You try and lift your head to look at them but something shoved you head down, preventing that. Either way the person introduces themselves and holds out a hand.
❤You couldn't hear their name due to something whispering static in your ears and when you went to shake their hand your hand was pulled back down. You were also given a strict warning not to interact with the person in front of you.
❤You try to walk past but the person grabs your elbow and spins you so you're facing them. They then try and lift your chin so you would look at them but once again your head was being pushed down to prevent it. You could tell that the person in front of you was male.
❤The fight over your head stops as footsteps approached through the snow. The man quickly pulls you and hides you behind a oddly shaped lamp.
❤The new person arrives and you were forbidden from looking up it seemed. You listen and determine how the new person behaves due to the way he speaks. He sounds like a brat that can't stand not having his way, spoken with a raspy voice.
❤They leave and instantly you're dragged off before the man before could say anything to you.
❤You are thrown into more fights that you win, staining the snow with grey. You're also challenged with puzzles that your invisible guide helps with. It also makes sure you leave no survivors.
❤You obey.
❤It hurt watching the dogs whimper as you cut them with the dull kitchen knife but the voice was the only thing you trusted. It was right about the flower so it must be trying to help you all around. It was protecting you so you trusted it, more than yourself.
❤You reach the end of Snowdin leaving no obstacles in your wake, except the tall bratty fellow. They demanded you take them on, saying that you could change and how he'd forgive you. You fight him without hurting him as instructed by the voice. He does his final move and opens his arms to you just as the lady did. You again jump onto his arms but this time you're instructed to go for the head. With a fatal blow of betrayal and your knife his head falls to the ground.
❤You walk into the waterfall, not caring to watch the head turn to dust as well as his body.
❤You again get led by a invisible hand that showers you in praise and helps you eliminate everything in sight. You even meet a little kid along the way.
❤They blab on and on about a certain hero who's name was blurred from your hearing. You honestly thought the voice would instantly tell you to eliminate them but it said to wait. So you did.
❤Along the way you got attacked by someone with blue spears and the voice simply advised you to run. This causes you to fall down the waterfall.
❤You wake up in garbage with a sore body but your invisible companion doesn't care. You're pulled from the garage and thrown into more and more fights.
❤You see the man from before a few more times, seeing that he has multiple dark burn marks that are hard to see in the dark. At one point you wanted to go interact with him because he had a telescope but you were pulled away.
❤You find a little cove of cat like creatures that let out the saddest of cries as your knife ended them. You couldn't do anything to help them, that's what the voice wanted.
❤You meet back up with the kid from before and started getting chased by the same person with the spears. The kid slips and holds onto the side of the cliff, calling out for help. The voice tells you to make them fall. You walk over and bend down before plucking at their fingers, making them fall.
❤The hero instantly jumps down and saves them. The hand takes the time to drag you along and run.
❤Unfortunately the hero catches up and fights you. Due to their fall they were badly hurt, making the fight end a lot faster. But then the kid before confronts you, demanding you fight them. It was a lazy swipe of your blade that ended their life.
❤Everything went by quickly after that. You had managed to kill the lizard that was spying on you and complete the puzzles with ease. You even brought that cute couple's life to an end, atleast they were together.
❤You had made it to a restaurant and the guy was there too. He didn't hesitate to grab you and teleport you to a table with him. The restaurant was near empty yet the atmosphere was still lively.
❤The man's voice was muffled to you and it was hard to even pay attention to you as you were violently being yanked out of your chair. The man noticed this and yanked you back into his arms. You stood uncomfortable, feeling the rage of your invisible friend grow.
❤Your knife starts floating and darts at the man. Before he disappears he tells you to run. Sadly, it was impossible to ran as your hand was trapped in a bone crushing grip that dragged you along the way.
❤Dust coated your clothing as you entered a dark room with a spotlight. Someone with a robotic voice then started to monologue so you decided to simply attack to get the battle over with.
❤The battle fully begins and cameras float around and broadcast your fight to the very few people still alive. Your invisible friend grows irritated and seemingly possessed you. Your movements weren't your own and the thoughts in your head were playing out in a different voice.
❤The battle ended quickly and your body runs off but you didn't object or fight back. It was only trying to help you... right?
❤Your body charges though a monochrome area very similar to the ladies house from before. Your body only stops once to pick up a much sharper knife that gleamed before exiting the place. That's when you entered a large hall with stained glass decorating the walls with a line person standing in the middle, waiting.
❤There stood the man from before, but this time you could actually see his face. His face was decorated with burn marks yet he was still very attractive.
❤You started talking but it wasnt in your voice. It held malace towards the man for being in the way. The man held a calm expression before attacking. Blue flames and bones erupted from the ground, aiming to kill you.
❤Somehow your body dodges all attacks thrown at it and so does the man. It was almost like they've fought countless times before with different stories behind each time but this time was different. Someone didnt follow the rules, someone got involved when they shouldn't have.
❤This would be their last fight together.
❤The man started sweating as your body continued at the same incredibly fast pace. You didn't want the man to die but if your guide said so it must happen.
❤The final blow was dealt and the man felt to the ground clutching his bleeding chest. You felt as if in a different timeline or universe the two of you could've been great friends, lovers even, but this wasn't one of them.
❤You continue to be a passenger in your own body and it pushes on through another set of doors. Not before hearing the man say a final and heartfelt goodbye to the world he called home.
❤That's when the final battle of your journey starts. It was the king this time. You barely had time to look at his face before he was dust.
❤A final push through some doors and you're back in a dark room with the only light falling on a lone flower. You regain control over your body as the flower starts talking but it was interrupted by something invisible cutting it at the stem.
❤That's when you see him. Your guide with the cold eyes and blood red wings.
❤He happily turns to you and grabs you. You felt an unbearable amount of unease as he whispers how he'll take care of you, how no one will hurt you, how he'll always love you, how you could never leave him now.
💔Then everything went black.
💔GAME OVER.

S/O is outside hanging out with their skelly, showing them how to play baseball, S/O throws the ball while skelly holds the bat, when the ball is hit however it ends up hitting S/O leaving them with a black eye. Whoops. How do the skellies react?
Undertale Sans - He's running to make sure you're ok, but when he sees you are, that jerk just laughs and teases you about how gooood you are and that you must be a good teacher because the ball got scared of him and ran straight back to S/O's face. You know you won't here the end of this before a long, long time.
Undertale Papyrus - When you screamed in pain, he panicked and threw the bat at you as a reflex like it burned his hands. He has too much force for you and he knocks you out. He now thinks he's a terrible husband and you will hear his "Nyooh hoo hoo" until late in the night. He doesn't want to play baseball ever again.
Underswap Sans - Yeah he hits the ball! He's so happy he doesn't care at all about you whining on the ground. He couldn't hit a ball in two hours, you can't be mad at him now that he is a professional player. It's not his fault you're so bad at dodging.
Underswap Papyrus - Uh oh. Oh no, he... he ruined your date right? Oh... Oh no. He teleports out of here straight to his bed to scream in his pillow about how he messes up everything in his life. He refuses to see you for two days because he's scared you might hate him now.
Underfell Sans - "pffffff your face" and then he starts laughing uncontrollably. Great. You're watching him die on the floor, outraged. This was a terrible idea, as Red won't stop throwing things at your face randomly during the week to test your reflexs because your face was so hilarious.
Underfell Papyrus - He comes to heal you, but it's pretty obvious he's holding himself from laughing at you, as his mouth keeps twitching. He then tells you that you would have been a weak opponent into his world and that even him would have had mercy on you because of how pathetic and weak you look. It sounds like an insult to you, but he seems to think it's hilarious instead. You're upset.
Horrortale Sans - He's frozen in fear as you're getting up with a black eye. He hurt you. He just hurt you and he didn't want too, what's wrong with him? You go and confort them before he has a panic attack. Oak promised to never hurt anyone ever again (well, not peaceful everyone at least), and he's not sure he wants to play now that he saw this game can be dangerous.
Horrortale Papyrus - GASP. He rushes to you, apologizing, and he won't stop apologizing until you're in the couch with a nice plaid, a nice movie, nice food and a nice pack of ice. He can't control his force sometimes, and maybe this game is not the best for him.
Swapfell Sans - ... Is this black spot on your face supposed to say he won? You say nothing, just looking his way with murderous eyes. He thinks you're just angry because you lose. He will keep aiming at your face. He won't stop. He thinks he's a baseball champion already. The neighbours call the cops because a skeleton monster is beating his S/O with baseball balls.
Swapfell Papyrus - Oh no! He throws the bat in the air to help you. The bat falls back on his own head. Rus is : knocked out. You are not both whining on the ground, beaten by a bat and a ball. That's quite pathetic.

HorrorTale Papyrus: Neither Insane Nor Sadistic
Tumblr media
SourAppleStudios' comic, HorrorTale, is set eight years after the Empress Undyne Neutral ending. The CORE, which makes the magic for all/almost all the Underground’s food supply, stops working. Nobody can fix it, and the Underground faces an extended famine. Sans, having received a gruesome head injury, tells Snowdin residents Undyne’s new “policy”: any humans that fall underground will be “harvested” for food, not SOULs.
Sans believes this is the only way for Snowdin’s people to survive, but kind, compassionate Papyrus refuses to go along: he’d rather starve to death than eat human flesh. So Sans tricks him into cooking and eating a human organ. Papyrus makes it into “crooked spaghetti”, causing his teeth to become long, jagged, crooked and bleeding, and his mind to apparently warp to that of an insane, sadistic person.
Except...he is neither insane nor sadistic.
Behavior
Tumblr media
Some of Papyrus’ behavior seems to support the idea Papyrus has gone insane and sadistic. In brief, Papyrus’s behavior is disturbing not simply because he kills, but how he kills, how he acts as he kills, and how he interacts with others outside of killing. Unlike other characters, Papyrus tries to kill Aliza in an indirect, orderly way through his “puzzles”. He gives very basic information about each puzzle, saying nothing of each puzzle’s danger, and acts as if running kids through a gauntlet of death traps and sickening choices is a normal, cheery occasion.
The first puzzle is an oversized bear trap that decapitates Aliza. (she comes back with Determination) When Aliza sinks into the tar-like quicksand-snow of the second puzzle, Papyrus’s full face isn’t seen, but he seems to be smiling and he doesn’t respond to her screams. For the third “puzzle”, Aliza must make a seemingly harmless choice between hot dogs and spaghetti. The correct option, spaghetti, has Papyrus feeding her human meat, and she only realizes the ingredients after solving the puzzle. The fourth “puzzle” has Papyrus telling Aliza to go to Grillby’s, telling her the patrons are friendly. Yet, after hearing their sad tale of starvation, the patrons try to fry her alive, and Aliza only escapes by using one of her “freebies” (ability to pass a puzzle) to escape what was secretly a puzzle. As she does so, Papyrus gives a big, suspicious grin.
His prolonged, rule-bound, impractical methods can be contrasted with Toriel and Sans’ methods. When Toriel knows Aliza is escaping the Ruins, she calls out for Sans, who instantly kills Aliza through bones springing out of the ground past the Ruins door. On different occasions, Sans horrifically injures or kills Aliza: just for kicks in a warped joy-buzzer prank, because she made the wrong choice the third “puzzle” (selecting hot dogs instead of spaghetti), because he suspects she cheated in a puzzle (due to reloading), or because he couldn’t resist trying to eat her when she was half-fried and smelled like food.
Outside of killing, Papyrus seems odd in easily catching Aliza, but letting her go anyway. Rather than hiding behind a lamp, as in-game, Aliza hides behind a corpse suspended from a branch. Papyrus joyously, easily captures her, but then he gets suspicious, believing her behavior is part of a devious plan to outsmart him. To this, Sans says: "Whoa paps. sweet deduction skills. might be wiser to, uh. skip the puzzles...and take her straight to #5." However, Papyrus believes it's too risky to progress to Step 5 in his plans, and goes through his puzzles as usual. Papyrus also seems to forget what a “freebie” for a puzzle is, that he made up the rules, and why he chose three. He even argues with Sans that giving three freebies is much too high (confusing “freebies” with “frisbees” in the process), making Sans remind him the number was adjusted up because no one got to the "grand finale".
Rebuttals
Based on these deeds, it’s easy to describe HorrorTale Papyrus as “insane” and “sadistic”, and explain his behavior by those properties. Yet, that’s neglecting one crucial detail: anyone can become messed up in such awful circumstances. Believing Papyrus’s actions are only possible if he were estranged from reality or found inflicting pain pleasurable shows ignorance on how people act in horrific situations. Certainly, if Papyrus had a good life with plenty of food and acted the same way he did in HorrorTale, he probably would be insane and sadistic, but he had to endure eight years of famine, and the deaths of humans ensure his and his neighbors’ survival.
Papyrus is Not Sadistic
Tumblr media
According to Merriam-Webster, “sadistic” means “taking pleasure in the infliction of pain, punishment, or humiliation on others”. Although Papyrus is willing to kill humans, and uses painful traps to do so, and most of the evidence for his sadism is lacking (since Papyrus’s face isn’t seen) or doesn’t match up. Only one piece of evidence, Papyrus smiling as Aliza dodges being fried alive, suggests he enjoys suffering...and it could be that it’s just his neutral expression, since Papyrus often smiles. While Papyrus also seems to be smiling as Aliza screams as she sinks in the second puzzle, his face is not fully visible. He may simply have been spacing out, or using his default expression of a smile as Aliza sinks. If anything, it’s Sans who’s sadistic, due to his methods of killing, inflicting pain, and punishing.
Furthermore, it’s not necessarily sadistic to offer humans human meat. One explanation for Papyrus giving Aliza spaghetti with human meat is that he feels sympathy for her: he knows what it’s like to be very hungry. (and human meat is the only food he has) It’s not out of the question he would want to minimize her suffering, even if he’s trying to eat her. After all, when slaughtering animals, people often care that the animal does not suffer unnecessarily. It’s also possible he wanted the human-hunt to be “fair”, even if he was desperate, and he believed Aliza couldn’t properly “compete” if she were starving. Papyrus doesn’t seem disappointed when Aliza survives puzzles, though he was annoyed she (apparently) did not even try the second puzzle. Papyrus even compliments Aliza on her "exemplary performance” before the third puzzle.
Papyrus is Not Insane
If one defines "insanity" as meaning "unable to understand reality", then HorrorTale Papyrus is not insane. He fully understands what is going on, and the consequences of his actions. He surely added “freebies” to his puzzles because he knows his puzzles are lethal, and adding freebies is the only way to make them hypothetically survivable and therefore “fair”.
One might suggest he is insane to not kill Aliza as quickly as possible, as he is very hungry. Even Sans, who’s somewhat less patient now, suggests skipping most of the puzzles in favor of going to Puzzle #5.
Furthermore, it might seem insane (or sadistic) to not kill her painlessly. When Aliza is about to escape the Ruins, Toriel signals Sans to kill her. Sans’ bone attacks spring from the ground, and Aliza dies near-instantly. This quick, unexpected death would surely minimize Aliza’s suffering: it shows Toriel’s harsh but merciful choice to keep Aliza’s SOUL out of the war-obsessed Empress Undyne’s hands.
Although Papyrus could quickly and painlessly kill Aliza by sniping her from afar, he may have such a strong sense of integrity and self-control as to delay eating a delicious meal (to him) for several hours, even in famine. His sense of integrity may override his compassion...if he’s even thoroughly thinking about his motives at all, as his hunger may have clouded his thinking.
Perhaps one thinks the very fact he’s resorting to killing and eating sentient beings (and a harmless child, no less!*) shows his insanity. However, even humans have eaten other humans in extreme situations, regardless of insanity or sadism. Often, this is after starving people have tried every other option. Given Papyrus’s compassion and the fact HorrorTale takes place eight years after the Empress Undyne Neutral ending, he’s surely had time to try everything else.
Red Herrings
Tumblr media
Some of Papyrus’s behavior might seem to support his insanity, until one realizes he had strange personality quirks at the start. He seems more forgetful than in Undertale, as he debates his freebie system and confuses it with “frisbees”. Still, his immense hunger over the years may have worn away at his memory. In-game, Papyrus bizarrely believes Frisk is insulting him so he can feel better about fighting Frisk, and that the insults hide a hidden affection, making Frisk an “emotional cactus”. Thus, Papyrus’s belief Aliza was suspiciously easy to capture isn’t out of character for him, and not a sign of insanity.
Papyrus defends his use of puzzles, rather than directly killing humans, by saying: “But then how would we pass the time?" As bizarre as this seems, even people in horrific situations may try to find games to play, such as playing card games or making chess sets from crumbs, stones, wood or candle wax. After all, it’s not as if Papyrus can control when humans arrive, so he’d need to do something while he waited. Since he spent so much time setting up puzzles before the Empress Undyne ending, he may very well be trying to cling to normality by configuring his puzzles.
Conclusion
The Drunk Bunny NPC at Grillby's claims "years of hunger have gnawed all the kindness right out of [Sans’] bones”. The same may have happened to Papyrus, if not so thoroughly, for although Papyrus is undoubtedly messed-up, he is neither insane nor sadistic. Rather, the horrible situation probably tipped Papyrus’s psychology into whatever helped him (or others) survive, and so drained his empathy and made him more numb.
As the HorrorTale character sheet (made in 2016, but still relevant) points out, he “Doesn't dislike humans, but is highly motivated in feeding his friends one way or another”. While it’s possible Papyrus would rather starve to death than kill humans, he might kill anyway to feed his friends. His impractical methods are surely caused by conflict between his principles and motivation, rather than sadism. Rather than being insane, he might be strangely principled: a HorrorTale character sheet even emphasizes he’s “the only character with some sense of morality.”
Those who have been forced to kill, and those who have eat human flesh out of necessity, can eventually recover and become functional (if not quite psychologically intact) individuals. Should HorrorTale's Papyrus ever get to the surface, his sheer self-control and principles should give him the happiest fate of all the characters.

Relationships and Opinons - Chisel
Undertale Sans/Ace – They had kinda a rocky start. Chisel saw Ace as a softer, weaker version of himself. Eventually they got drunk together. Chisel doesn't really remember what all was said, but he knows he came away with a better respect for the weight Ace is carrying. Its a lot of responsibility and he's trying to bear it all alone. Chisel understands and respects that instinct, so while he may not know everything that's going on, he figured he could lighten the load by being less of an ass. They're pretty close now, often talking shop over drinks.
Undertale Papyrus/Lief – He often finds himself somehow roped into building things alongside Lief and Scout. When the pair decide to team up on him, he folds quickly. Chisel has no issue with Lief, but he does bury a sort of wistfulness in regards to him. He feels like Lief is what Spur could have been like if he'd done a better job of protecting him. He wouldn't trade his brother for the world, but seeing first hand the innocence he could have had and lost, stings just a tiny bit.
Underfell Sans/Chisel – Adjusting to this new surface was not exactly easy for Chisel. Sure there's still  struggle and fighting, but compared to the world he came from, its down right peaceful. And that sits oddly. He wants to embrace it. To be softer and kinder himself. But its a struggle, letting go of years of learned behaviors. He combats this by trying to keep his mind busy. He has a knack for mechanical engineering and he enjoys it. This isn't always enough, and if allowed to wallow too much he can fall into bad drinking habits. He flirts to mask his own insecurities, and to keep people at arms length. Genuine affection makes him uncomfortable. He judges himself harshly, and his perceived mistakes weigh heavily on him. He doesn't shy away from violence, but tries not to make killing his first response. He won't hesitate however, if its necessary, and generally isn't too bothered by it.
Underfell Papyrus/Spur – From the outside this might look like a resentful, volatile relationship. This couldn't be farther from the truth. Spur is loud and can come off as demanding. And sometimes he is. But what most people fail to notice is that Spur is full of self doubt. He pushes a front of loud, almost violent confidence, to hide his self-questioning mind. Chisel knows this. He knows his brother. He raised him. In the Underground as Spur got older, Chisel fell into a more subservient role. Not as a true indication of their relationship but as a way to bolster his brothers confidence. And as much as Chisel may hate being told what to do, he hates responsibility even more. Having control is nerve wracking. He can't handle the weight of expectation. Spur knows this. He knows his brother. He was raised by him. So as he got older, he took over. He handled everything he could, so that his big brother could finally rest. He nags at him for being lazy, but it goes unsaid that he knows how tired Chisel is. He's the only one allowed to nag him. Anyone else even thinks of disrupting one of his brothers naps better have a damn good reason, or they'll be facing the wrath of a very angry baby brother. They have a deep fraternal love, built on the ground a struggling to survive in a world that didn't really want them to. Now that they're here, where its relatively peaceful, they can really let go and grow into better versions of themselves. They try very hard to help each other do so.
Underswap Sans/Scout – These two get along quite well. Scout pushes Chisel's buttons in a way that rather than irritating, motivates. Scout, much like Lief, enjoys puzzles, and Chisel has plenty of mechanical knowledge. They often have friendly arguments over whether or not something can work, leading to Chisel feeling challenged, and so finding a way to make it work. People are often surprised to find Scout tossing back off-color and lewd jokes right back at Chisel. They share a rather dirty sense of humor and enjoy catching other people off guard with it.
Underswap Papyrus/Piper – The last third of the “talk shop and drink” trio. Also part of the “stress smokers” club. Chisel initially didn't think he was gonna like Piper much. But he found Piper had a sharper tongue a lot more spine than he expected. The whole being completely unable to successfully lie thing was annoying at first, but came in handy often enough he got over it. For coming from one of the “softer” worlds Piper was surprisingly jaded, and very slow to trust. Once Chisel got over the sting of some very harsh truths Piper hit him with, he found a pretty solid friendship. Chisel doesn't often have the energy himself to get up to much mischief, but is more than happy to pass his ideas on for Piper and the other “shit disturbers” to execute.
Swapfell(Red) Sans/Whip – Despite how easily he bends to the word of his brother, Chisel hates being told what to do. Whip is bossy and demanding. Its not an especially good mix. Early on this made for some very loud altercations in camp, usually at the most irritating possible moment. Nowadays they just avoid each other a much as possible. One can only take so much of Lief's disappointed face.
Swapfell(Red) Papyrus/Coyote – These two would probably get along pretty well, were it not for Chisel and Whips mutual dislike. They can enjoy a nice quiet smoke together, but most of their interactions have an underlying tension, as Coy doesn't take kindly to any even minor perceived threats to his brother. Chisel finds their dynamic a bit off putting, and tends to keep his distance. It’s easier to just avoid the issue altogether.
Horrortale Sans/Tender – He's really uncomfortable with what Tender did, but also respects him for doing whatever it took to keep his brother alive. Its an odd mix to grapple with. There's not bad blood between them, but they generally don't interact much. Not a whole lot of common ground beyond “would do literally anything for his brother”.
Horrortale Papyrus/Cook – Its really hard not to like Cook. He's got a no-nonsense attitude and isn't afraid to call anyone on their behavior. If Leif is the “'disappointed mom”, then Cook is the “you're full of shit mom”. He's blunt and to the point, but manages to not be harsh. Its a tough balance and one Chisel respects. Cook is good for emotional insights, and very good at keeping others business to himself. Much like his younger counterpart, he just wants to help. His life experience has led him to a very different but equally effective ways of doing so.
Swapfell(Purple) Sans/Doc – Chisel didn't think he would like Doc, but found himself pretty ambivalent. He finds Doc to be a bit to high strung, but appreciates that he handles all the day to day running. One less responsibility for him to dodge. Doc is a control freak, but tends to err more on the side of controlling the environment, so Chisel isn’t especially opposed.
Swapfell(Purple) Papyrus/Flint – Flint is a self professed shit disturber, and the title it well deserved. Chisel rarely has the energy or care to get involved but certainly enjoys watching the disaster unfold. He doesn’t volunteer for anything, but is usually amenable if Flint has work that Chisel is especially suited too, particularly repairs, one of the only kinds of work he actually enjoys.
Fellswap Gold Sans/Haze – Chisel has a lot of issues with Haze. While he respects the work he does for the gang, he has more complaints than compliments. He'll concede that it takes a skill set he just doesn't have to put up with the kinds of people Haze deals with. But he finds Haze duplicitous and cagey. He doesn't trust him at all. And it drives Chisel insane the way Haze enables Cirrus to be dependent.
Fellswap Gold Papyrus/Cirrus – These two interact very little, and with good reason. While Chisel likely couldn’t explain it, there is something about Cirrus that tends to grate on him. He claims Cir is “too soft” or “too fragile” and that he finds it irritating, but given that these traits in others tend not to bother him at all, the argument falls short. Ultimately, what Chis selectively chooses to ignore is that he’s more upset that a Fell version of his brother could come out so gentle while his own brother was forced to lose much of that softness. It’s a constant subconscious reminded of his own perceived failures, which makes him generally disgruntled.
Underlust Sans/Shine – Chisel leaves all interactions with Shine flustered. He tries to keep up with the flirting, and does alright for awhile, but there comes a point where its only stubbornness keeping him present. They have fun though and are occasional drinking buddies. Shine is also the best at keeping Chisel out of trouble when he loses himself and goes on a bender. Chisel appreciates that he doesn't lecture him or push for an explanation.
Underlust Papyrus/Calico – At first Calico weirded him out. He differed too much from what he was used to. None of the roughness of the Fell-types, none of the boisterous attitude from the Vanilla-verses. Calico was something entirely his own. He comes off as dreamier, a soft maturity. Tempered. The more he gets to know Calico the more he recognizes some similarities, but he's still a little put off. Calico is more similar to Cook than any of the other “energetic-types”, which would almost imply a trauma or event leading to this personality shift. Its also apparent that the Lust brother know more than they let on. Whatever it is they aren't saying, Chisel isn't sure he wants to know.
