In singular deranged days work (where I was supposed to be getting OTHER things done) I made a cipher journal for decoding the ciphers in Gravity Falls, specifically for Journal 3, the Book of Bill and thisisnotawebsite.com. This included (ultimately) three pages of common ciphers used in the Gravity Falls fandom; originally I was only going to do two, but then got to the Blendin page in Journal 3, sighed deeply and made an extra page on the Vignére cipher. The clasps I made myself by hand, and the little white toggle is a raccoon tooth, which I may change out depending on what becomes available. The purple ink, although unable to be seen within the photos, actually glitters and looks rather cosmic to my delight.

Considering I made the most of it within a day, it meant I used the paper I had at hand, which wasn't good paper for actual ink as it bleeds through slightly (and is thus unbecoming), but as a fancy schm-ancy idiot who insists on using actual ink with dip pens for the 'breadth of the experience', this means I'm ultimately only using one side of the paper (to my chagrin) and the letters aren't as clear as they could be when I write on the paper. Nevertheless, I am rather happy about the result; young me from about a decade ago, who began to make a similar journal only to abandon the project would have been immensely excited that I actually made one and am currently using it to decipher things within Journal 3. There is something rather satisfying about it, I do confess.

ngl, it's about quality over quantity for me. an npc can have a total of three minutes of screen time, but if they have a cool name, they can live rent free in my head and I'll spend several hours trying to decipher drawable features from a blurry screenshot of pixels

there is a vague hint of a story here, and that's because every time I try to play thi4f, I get incredibly frustrated with how Not Fun the game play is. like, is the story good? well. but it has a PLAGUE. that should've given it instant 'I'll replay this once a year' status in my heart, but the game play sucks so bad that I've never finished it. I can't believe Not Fun gameplay beat out my obsession with narrative plagues.

anyway, the idea is basically if the original era had a game with a plague centric narrative and some other stuff I liked out of thi4f thrown into a narrative blender, with a heavy dash of horror thrown in because some parts of the thief games were scarier to me than entire dedicated horror genre games.

Caretaker Log J.16.7.2

Summary – The Warden’s condition continues to worsen since last entry. All decline remains self-inflicted. 

J.16.7.2-M – Sleep deprivation has resulted in mood swings and irritability. Though denied by the Warden, extreme distress, melancholy, and laughter have been noted. They lash out verbally and physically toward the prisoners (1) only to apologize at a later time. Observations (2) result in speculation that hallucinations are another symptom. 

J.16.7.2-B – The Warden's obsession with notetaking remains steady, though most pages of planning are merely rewritten versions of earlier notes. Their nightly ritual has grown more rigorous: four cups of coffee ingested in the time between dinner and the kitchen’s closing. A fifth cup is brought back to the courtroom, where the Warden will once again sleep on the ground. (Refer to J.5.5.2.B for initial detail.) 

J.16.7.2-P – Sleep deprivation and/or caffeine intake has caused shakiness and overall weakness. They show severe eyebags and have not changed into nightclothes in several days. Though they wash themself and fresh civilian clothes have been provided, they insist on returning to the uniform. Motor skills (3) and computation abilities have suffered.

J.16.7.2-S – The Warden spends their days around the prisoners, but avoids participating in all necessary conversations and activities regardless of invitation (4). They limit speech to the Caretaker only about their denied request (5), though they can be coaxed into conversation when fatigue overtakes them.

(1) After 005 offered the Warden something to help with their sleep, they threw the pills to the ground and shouldered past with force; 008 attempted to read the Warden’s notes, and they slapped her hand away.

(2) Flinched away from 003 even when standing still; shocked expression at 004's face despite nothing out of the ordinary; looked nauseous and refused to eat fresh fruit from the dining hall; interrupted a conversation with 010 to listen to silence.

(3) Handwriting has grown nearly intelligible; dropped one of their coffee cups and nearly panicked at the subsequent breakage and spill.

(4) Left the room when 002 began setting up a game; ignored 001's encouragement to join him for a meal; refused to answer personal questions from 006; snapped at 007 when trying to begin a lighthearted conversation.

(5) Request submitted on 30.8.2 for padlocks to fit supply closet and cell doors.

Day 9 - Obsession

Its been 4 months since the war started, and Link was already tired.

He had heard of stories, of wars lasting years if not decades, he dreamed of being part of one to show how capable he was in the field.

He wants to yell at his younger self for jinxing himself.

This weird woman, Cia, for some reason wanted the triforce he and Sheik–who apparently was Zelda this whole time, surprise! – for herself. Ah and she wanted Link too. It was weird and creepy and he didn’t like it.

They entered her hideout and separated by groups; The sailor and Ori will be with Zelda and Impa taking down some bastions, while Link with a group of soldiers will be going directly towards Cia.

He wanted his new little brothers to not be involved on this, even less with the fact that the sorcerer was obsessed with him. There were so many statues and pictures of him, some of them with Ori as the protagonist. He was definitely keeping the kid away.

When he arrived at Cia’s lair, he didn’t expect it to be so… Empty.

“My… You decide to come towards me, alone? What a gentleman!”

He swinged his sword towards the origin of the voice, finding only air to cut through.

“Why so aggressive? I though this was a cute encounter.” Her smile didn’t leave her face at any moment, her eyes covered with that mask. He didn’t need to see them to know how she stared at him whole.

“I’m not here to play.” Link found himself barking back at her, keeping a safe distance from her.

“Ahh, your voice was exactly how I thought! That fairy did a good job hiding it from me.” She gave a step closer, trying to close the gab between them.

Proxi stayed with the boys to take care of them and translate anything Ori needed to say, even if he was getting better the Sailor wasn’t all that perfect translating how he spoke.

This time he didn’t gave her the pleasure of an answer, staying in position to fight and silent.

Her smile didn’t disappear. “So serious, why don’t you come and we can have some fun together? We could even share the power of the triforce…” She showed the two shiny triangles on her hand “Hyrule needs two rulers, you know.”

He didn’t want to know anything about her, he wanted her gone. Link kept his firm position, with the Master Sword ready to attack at any time.

“Oh, so that how it is…” She walked around him, like a predator scanning its prey.

Smoke exploded, and she was gone. Where did she go? He can’t lose track of her movements just now!

“My, I’m glad you care for me.”

The soft, sickly-sweet voice on his ear gave him shivers. Hands were now grabbing his shoulders, keeping him in place.

“You know, this is the closest I’ve ever got to be with you.”

His elbow hit her stomach, giving him a chance to free himself from her grab.

“Get. The fuck away from me.” He didn’t want this crazy witch after him. He didn’t want her near his brothers, ever.

She just laughed, arm around her stomach. “Ohh dear Link, sweet as ever.”

Fight exploded in the room.

I keep getting bathtub mermaid by Mili on shuffle while listening to music and every single time i end up thinking about a Mer! denperce au

I really don't like need another Mermaid au involving a Percy ship but i just i keep thinking about it anyway

though more in that "a music video in my head" vibe that isn't very easy to translate into a fic to me but looks oh so pretty in my mind

I also know that in the song the Mermaid is not like actually a mermaid and it's like a metaphor for mutilating yourself to be what someone else wants/needs
