FedEx Partners With Aurora and PACCAR to Intensify Deliveries

FedEx has announced a partnership with Aurora and PACCAR to launch a commercial pilot test of autonomous trucks in linehaul trucking operations.

This partnership aims at reducing dependence on physical labor. It is an industry-first collaboration that combines expertise in logistics, trucking, and autonomy to advance the safety and effectiveness of the flow of goods.

The autonomous truck’s commercial pilot test will begin in the last week of September. Aurora will autonomously haul FedEx cargos with a safety driver within Dallas and Houston, a 500-mile round trip along the I-45 corridor.

FedEx Trucks will be fully autonomous by the end of 2023.

RoboDeck Autonomous Robot Is Reinventing Deck Cleaning.

The idea originated from Gal Frenkel when he sought to restore the annual maintenance of his house’s sizeable wooden deck all on his own. The tiresome and repetitive nature of the task and his interest in technology sought a better, automated method to protect and restore his deck.

When we have robots to mop and clean the floors, why not robots for deck cleanliness, said the co-founder and CEO of RoboDeck, Mr. Gal Frenkel.

RoboDeck is a highly economical preventive maintenance robot with cleaning and routing technologies instead of costly, manual restoration. The autonomous robot cleanses and renews the damaged stain every few weeks, maintaining the deck in good condition throughout the year.

Currently, RoboDeck is in the late prototype stage, which has raised around $500,000 via SOSV’s HAX. It is also competing with 20 companies for TechCrunch’s Disrupt Startup Battlefield, hoping to go home with $100,000 and the Disrupt Cup.

In an official press release, Hyundai Motor Group has said that the Spot Robot is deployed to ensure Kia’s plant safety in South Korea. The announcement came after Boston Dynamics released the Spot 3.0 update with enhanced autonomy, AI data capture, and enterprise integrations. It is equipped with an integrated thermal camera and 3D LiDAR that allows Spot to recognize people around it, monitor high-temperature states and potential fire hazards, and determine whether a door is open or closed. Also, it can be remotely operated through a secure webpage that gives a Livestream of its actions throughout the plant, enabling office personnel to perceive industrial areas from afar. The AI-powered robot can recognize threats and send signals to managers via the webpage.

Geek+ Smart Sorting Robots are transforming warehouses.

Geek+, a global AMR manufacturer in partnership with FDL Group, has deployed sorting robots at the warehouse of Athinaiki SA, a logistics and Transport Services that operates in Greece.
