Fahed (@/fahed-2) & Reem (@/reem-reem-0), fled south together with their children & their children's grandmother. Fahed's sister's family of 5 fled south as well, and the 13 of them remained together. But after 14 months of surviving hell as a unit (and nearly reaching their campaign goal) the family is now facing one of the worse decisions imaginable: who will be able to evacuate Gaza and who will be forced to stay behind.

There may be an opportunity for evacuation soon, but they're bracing for separation, with Fahed staying behind with his sister and her family. It's hard enough reunifying in Gaza, but with the border with Egypt between them, there's no telling when (or if) they'll ever see each other again. It shouldn't be a choice this family has to make: who survives, who may not. Their kids shouldn't be forcibly separated from their dad, nor Reem from her husband.

Fahed & Reem are some of the kindest, gentlest people ever, and their kids are dazzling, just absolute sweethearts. They've all lost so much and experienced too much, and somehow, kept finding a way to endure.

But right now, they might lose each other, so please: pitch in what you can, help the Shehabs stay together 🙏

I know that many people have shared the Shehab family's old campaign, which was recently frozen by GoFundMe after raising more than €78K in donations. (See this post for information.)

They now have a NEW campaign, the link above, but because they had to start over, as of 11:30 GMT on 14 November 2024, they are only up to $1,005 CAD / $100,000 CAD.

Fahed (@fahedshehab-new) and Reem urgently need to get a new tent that will keep their children warm in the winter. (Their current tent will not.) The Shehabs have set a short-term goal of $5,055 CAD for this purpose. Right now, the family still needs at least $4,050 CAD (around $3,000 USD) to reach this short-term goal. (The odd amount is to make sure they can cover the transfer and bank fees.)

Not only that but the family asks to help their other relatives such as their aunt's family, who has 5 members in the family. The aunt (Mona), her husband (Muhammad), and their children Othman, Tariq, and Iman.

Both families are in need of donations to be able to get out of Gaza and live in peace. They are currently displaced, with their tents being destroyed and unable to properly provide for each other. They especially need baby products like baby formula and diapers for Iman who had been born during the war.

They originally had another fundraiser that had recently been locked due to an error in the bank account that operates it. Instead they have made a new one and are still very far a way from their set goal, about $744 CAD out of the $100k goal. i was talking to mohammed a while ago about his kids and i can't help but feel for him and the other palestinian grownups doing everything to secure their children's lives. a lot of us suffer from illnesses that cannot be seen by the eyes. but my mind cannot truly comprehend what must it be like surviving an ongoing genocide scared for your life and everybody else's. i am sure each of us carry a story of struggle and i am sure that it was an easier burden when someone was there to remind us that we are not alone in our battle.
