As my husband and I sit and listen to the occasional “pop” of a sealed ball jar we smile knowing that beautiful tune is one of summers finest fruits preserved to open in the bitter cold months!!! Pretty as a peach I say! Well I have officially used each and every peach from the bushel @mcleodfarms of peaches my son and daughter-in-law brought me! Drunk Baked Peaches, baked in Butter, Brown Sugar, Vanilla & Bourbon! I could swear these peaches have a Southern Accent!! Cooking with Fresh @mcleodfarms Peaches Round 6! Sometime simplicity turns out the BEST! It is not necessary for an amazing dessert to take 30+ minutes of prep time to be incredibly delicious! When my children were babies my mother-in-law taught me to make the best baked apples I have ever tasted! Using only 4 ingredients this became a staple for my babies, they loved them and still do! Well I thought let’s try the same with peaches but throw in a couple more ingredients like I read about over at Half Baked Harvest! Add in a very healthy 2-3 tablespoons of @woodfordreserve Double Oaked Bourbon and some Pure Vanilla Extract, and you have the most amazing Baked Peaches 🍑 you’ve ever tasted!!! Serve a whole peach warm, with a healthy scoop of @gilbertsicecream Vanilla, lots of the juicy syrup and top it off with some homemade brioche Cinnamon and Sugar bread crumbs!! Yummmmmmmmmmm! I usually read intricate recipes like I read a science fiction book! I get to the very end and I think, “Well that’s not going to happen.” But this time it actually did happen!!! I love proving myself wrong, ha! I have always thought adding more than 3-4 tablespoons of alcohol to the ice cream base would not allow it to freeze to the right consistency! Well let’s just say I threw caution to the wind and filled that measuring cup up with some mighty fine @eaglerarebourbon ! 🤷🏼‍♀️ Today marks Round 4 with the Bushel of yummy @mcleodfarms Peaches! It was a sweet kind of day so what’s better than homemade peach ice cream!!! I’m all about flavor and layering flavor! You know the kind of flavor that literally blows your mind as you discover each layer while your eating! Bourbon Brown Butter Peach Ice Cream was the ultimate peach experiment today! A huge shout out to @gardenandgun for this epic recipe! Making the delectable custard base was first on the list for this recipe! After mastering the creamy thick custard I made the brown butter bourbon pecan layer to swirl in!!!
