I respect poetry so much because it does what I cannot do - say so much with so little.
When I have something Much to say, it takes me just as many words to say it. I say it with words that are each of them bland and common, unimaginative by their lonesome, with the hopes that if I stack so many together and squeeze a single drop of Much from each that it might flow into something meaningful.
When I have something to say, I say it twice. I say it three times. Because the first or second may not have captured the point. Because I do not trust myself to express the full essence saying it just once. Like just now, those last two sentences. I’ll repeat myself a third time for good measure - because I do not say it right just once or twice.
Poems say things in only a half, only a quarter. They choose single words worth more than ten of mine. I want to know how their minds shop for words. I want to distill myself like poets do. I want to trade in all my too many common words for the way they use an extraordinary few.
If I keep writing this, I’ll write it forever. I’ll explain myself again, as I have already, as I’m doing now. With more and different other words, with the hope of saying myself fully, like how all the hatched and messy wanton scribbles from a pen might finally color in a page. I want to change that. I want to not rip the page I’ve oversaturated by the tip of my pen.
I’ll start tomorrow, maybe, to explain myself less.

“Mourning is one of the deepest expressions of pure love…the only way to take sorrow out of death is to take love out of life.”
Reyna I. Aburto
I love how real this is…too often, Mormons trying to be overly happy and encouraging about even the saddest things, as if we can make tragedy less real by ignoring it. But sorrow and mourning is a crucial part of being mortal and being alive and we should honor it.

1) Holy CRAP, 2020, you did something right
2) Okay, here’s what we’re gonna do. We’re gonna form a prayer circle. Sacrifice some goats. Dedicate some earrings. And pray that the mighty rage of Riordan’s ghost keeps that level of nonsense away.

I can answer this question!
The electoral college is a system where each state gets it's own number of electors, or electoral votes, depending on it's population. So a state with a big population will have more votes than a state with a small population. For example, California with a population of about 40 million, has 55 electoral votes, while Alaska, which has a population of 734,000, only has 3.
Once all the votes in that state are counted, then the electoral votes will go to the candidate that won the popular vote of that specific state. The candidate to collect 270 or more electoral votes wins.
This is such an important system, because without it, the suburban and farming states would hardly have a voice.
The top ten most populated states have a combined population of around 177,695,000. Which is over half of the entire American population. All contained into ten states! So in theory, if we went by national popular vote instead of electoral college, those 10 "Big City" states would determine the entire election. Of course, that would be on the assumption that they all vote for the same party, which would never happen, but big cities tend to lean left and those same big cities are what make these states so populated. So largely populated states also tend to lean a little left. You get my picture.
But the electoral college makes it so states like Wyoming, Idaho, and North Dakota are still important and still get a say in who the president is. Although the big states are still super important for all the votes they're worth, there have been candidates who've won by focusing on all the small states. It makes it so the cities don't determine the entire fate of our country singlehandedly, while still making sure that the majority is heard, hence the "bigger population=more votes" thing.
It also helps to keep the states united, because if we used the national popular vote, then the candidates would spend all their time campaigning in, and catering to, states like New York and California, and all the other states would be ignored, which would cause a lot of tension.
I hope all this made sense, if not, I can always elaborate on certain points. But in short, the electoral college is very important and people need to understand it a little better.
I dont understand the American electoral system and at this point I'm too afraid to ask

Will: (During the 3 a.m. infirmary night shift) The darkness is just so alluring, isn't it?
Kayla: (Attempting to fill out some patient files) Sure.
Will: I mean, in a way it's always there. You can walk on for hours and it'll still be there, whether it's wrapped all around you like a soft silk blanket, or in the shadows, filling the world with a calming contrast to the blinding light.
Kayla: (Not even looking up from the paperwork) That's cool.
Will: And some could say it doesn't exist at all, nothing more than the result of casting light on only one side of an object. Yet, it seems to be it's own substance, something you can't grasp but can feel all the same. A sorta intangible force that can never be destroyed.
Kayla: (Slowly lowering her clipboard to look at him) Is this your weird half asleep way of telling me about your crush on Nico?

Percy:(Bursting into the middle of a counselor meeting)
Annabeth: Percy, where were you?!?!?!
Percy: It's sandwich day.
Everyone: ...
Percy: (Sighing) Every Thursday, I take Pudge the fish a peanut butter sandwich.
Annabeth: Pudge is a fish?
Percy: And today we were out of peanut butter! So I asked a harpy what to give him, and she said a tuna sandwich. I can't give Pudge tuna!
Percy: (Whispering) Do you know what tuna is?
Annabeth: Fish?
Percy: IT'S FISH!
Percy: If I gave Pudge tuna, I'd be an abomination! I'm late because I had to go to the store and buy peanut butter, 'cause all we have is-is stinkin' TUNA!!!!!
